A very beautiful experience. One should not miss such opportunities. I took over Jamal Rum Camp. Very friendly staff and prompt response. The food was excellent especially the grilled chicken which was cooked under the earth on desert sand. The jeep trekking was excellent. The rum balloon camp was excellent room for nice bed and toilets.

This place is outstanding.
Arrange a day tour with a local guide. Try and get a vehicle that has a canopy. You will be exposed to the sun all day and you will thank me for the shade.
On the tour you will see many of the well known sights. If you are fortunate, the guide will take you to see ancient cave art.
All in all, a must if visiting Jordan.

I don't know how I can explain how much I'm falling in love with this desert. Everywhere is really amazing and can feel a live, I enjoy every second minute everywhere I move, one time in a life you must visit here and I prefer to come back here again

An adventure like no other, a mystical place for all who are in Jordan this destination is a must. If you come diving this place is great for a nice surface interval or the last day before a flight trip. Desert areas are full of animals and surprises on every corner, and sunset is a must.

Wadi Rum is a fantastic place where there are charming golden sands, rocks and huge mountains. It is said that its nature resembles Mars, but Wadi Rum remains the more beautiful. There are wonderful and very generous Bedouins. You can spend there a good time in the bubble hotel.
Note (do not forget to watch the sunset)
Omar Al hawamdeh — Google review
It's a beautiful desert. It's a protected area. Beautiful nature. Beautiful sunsets. Cold and warm breezes make you feel so calm. You have to book a camp in this desert. It's the camp's responsibility for your transportation, food and safety. It's a must visit place in Jordan. But I have a request to the government authority to look at the plastic pollution it is causing to the desert.
Swati Murteli — Google review
Very unique, almost otherworldly, especially given that the movies the Martian and Star Wars were both filmed in Wadi Rum. The same is very fine and blows easily, consider a neck gator to ensure you can just see the same versus breathe the sand. Landscapes, rocks, sand, and bedouins make this a very unusual and amazing place.
Erik Oppenneer — Google review
Our overnight journey to Wadi Rum with Nomad was truly something special, largely thanks to our wonderful guide, Mohammad. Amidst the otherworldly beauty of the desert, every dune and star seemed to tell a story.
Navigating the entrance fee of 7 JOD for foreigners or those without a Jordan Pass felt like a small price to pay for the adventure that awaited. Wadi Rum, with its vast landscapes and towering cliffs, unfolded like a cinematic panorama.
Yet, what set this trip apart was the unexpected twist. One night, my friend lost his phone in the desert during a high-speed drive back to camp. Mohammad, with a mix of determination and optimism, suggested we try to find it—a task that felt impossible. However, against the odds, after 8 suspenseful minutes of driving in complete darkness, we miraculously recovered the lost phone. It was a moment that added an unexpected chapter to our Wadi Rum story.
Throughout our desert odyssey, Bedouins extended their warm hospitality, offering tea that became more than a beverage—it became a symbol of connection and shared experiences.
Wadi Rum is an experience that etches itself into your memory. The silence of the desert, the camaraderie forged under the stars, and the sheer grandeur of the landscape make it a journey worth undertaking. For anyone venturing to Jordan, Wadi Rum isn't just a destination; it's a must-have experience that encapsulates the essence of this mesmerizing country.

I spent here 14 days, this place will be definitely in my heart! My second home, I cant wait to go back again! When you arrive, you can leave your car on the parking next to the Rest House and then you can just check the village. There is not much to do, but the local people are very kind and you can get a great coffee in the restaurant near to the parking. Then you can head to the desert of Wadi Rum for incredible night in the camp or for a jeep tour. 1 day here is not enough to absorb the atmosphere and enjoy the simple life without stress.
Verca.brejchova — Google review
Loved to every second of the time I spend at the wadi. It was a great experience for me. Feeling the nature, listening the silence of the hills... Also, nights are so fascinating! It is like all the stars and planets are surround you...

What a great experience. Honestly book with a guide and also try to stay in one of the pods overnight for a mind blowing experience. We actually just drove in paid about $5 or so to get in then made a deal with a driver to take us to some of the key locations. Well worth the $40 we paid for 2 people.
MVP Reviewz — Google review
The place it’s very nice, peaceful and diferent. The desert are crowded of 4x4 car carrying tourists around the desert but it’s quite quiet at night. Actually I was hoped more about this place but it’s only a opinion, the desert is original and I think you have to see and take your own opinion and experience. Maybe my expectations were very high and perhaps that was my problem.
Laura — Google review
What a cool place! Doing a desert safari in Wadi Rum is definitely recommended. Also we slept one night in a camp side in the desert which was a great experience as well.
Jan Nouwen — Google review
This is my first experience in a true sandy dessert. It was impressive with its redish landscape, looking like the Mars terrain. Our tour included the ancient rock carvings, climbing a sand dune to see the surrounding area, and Lawrance of Arabia's hiding area. The accommodation we had was great complete with dinner and breakfast. The staff were also very friendly and obliging.
Adie Klein — Google review
Beautiful landscape of granite and sandstone. Amazing to be here and see the beauty of the land. We went around Wadi Rum via truck and saw all the main points of interest as well as a few view points to see. I see why a lot of the movies use this as a place to film, definitely looks like Mars. Amazing place, nice camps to stay at and you don’t get bothered too much which is really nice as well. I definitely recommend checking this place out!
Josh Baltazar — Google review
Wadi rum is an amazing desert!
We came during winter and it was very warm during the day - but pack some warm clothes for the night. We were also luck enough to catch some rain while we were there.
You can go out for a camel ride or hike some nice spots. Just be careful, that your trip doesn’t get too touristy.
Lukas Güth — Google review
My visit to Wadi Rum in Jordan was a truly remarkable experience. Exploring the desert in a 4x4 allowed us to delve deep into the natural wonders of the landscape, from hidden caves and winding canyons to towering sand dunes and refreshing springs. At each stop, we were greeted with the option to purchase refreshments and enjoyed the complimentary Arabian tea, which was a pleasant and authentic touch, reflecting the Bedouin culture's warmth and hospitality.
However, the most memorable part of the trip was spending the night in a Bedouin tent. The Bedouin hosts extended their genuine hospitality, offering us a taste of their traditional cuisine. Sitting around the campfire, engaging in conversations, and relishing their food provided an intimate glimpse into their way of life, fostering a profound appreciation for their culture.
I highly recommend the complete Bedouin experience for anyone looking to fully immerse themselves in the captivating world of Wadi Rum. It offers a unique opportunity to connect with a culture deeply rooted in this rugged desert landscape and create lasting memories.

Qasr Al-Kharranah, a well-known castle constructed before 710 A.D. in a remote desert location, boasts an imposing thick-walled structure and is regarded as the most photogenic of all desert castles. Scholars debate about its purpose and function, but this significant Umayyad building remains an interesting sight for visitors off the main Azraq-Amman road. A visitor center offers tours while some rooms feature beautiful designs that have been preserved over time.
It's a beautiful castle with a very friendly staff. It was easy to find and a great place to see during your trip to Jordan. Totally recommended
Zahab Nabeel — Google review
Nice place to visit and check, not much to see but what a great history to feel.
When you arrive there you will see an empty big open ground, you will walk to the palace.
A small room in the main square for bathrooms which was not clean at all.
However still the place are nice and great to be visited.
Very important to know there's no tickets to enter.

What an amazingly historic castle in the desert. I really enjoyed my time here. It’s still very well preserved and taken care of. It has lots to see, you can walk inside up and around the buildings. It has lovely artwork that decorates the interior in certain places. It was definitely worth checking out, if you’re into history. I would recommend visiting this lovely castle.
Pong Lenis — Google review
There is a debate among scholar's what it was used for. There is a guide that tries to pester you into hiring him to show you around. We just ignored and we walked around. All the rooms look the same but a few have some beautiful designs left behind. It was fun to see.

Umayyad archaeological site, two stories with around 61 rooms, you can find the water system traces beside the main door.
Their is a need for interpretation signs to enhance the visitors informations.

This desert castle is my favorite from the all main castles to visit in Jordan. It looks like a fort and it is still in good shape. It's way bigger than the other ones and I like it there very much. There are even a facilities and small souvenir and snack shop where to hide head in the hot weather. Thank you 🤩
Ales Tvrdy — Google review
Remarkably intact castle dating back to the 7th century. The purpose of the building continues to be a topic of consideration for historians and scholars. It's nearly perfectly square and has slits I assumed was used by archers for defense, but it turns out they are for ventilation/temperature/dust control and allow light into the outer rooms.
Erik Oppenneer — Google review
Amazing place! The way how the temperature is controlled inside and how the architects were capturing the wind for air circulation is incredible. You can get tickets here to see three desert castles for just 3 JOD. There is a little shop outside where you can see and buy some fossil fuels!
Karlygash Zhunussova — Google review
This over 1,300 year old desert castle, which was built by the mighty Ummayad Khilafah, دولة الخلافة الأموية is definitely worth visiting and exploring with family and friends. The place is well maintained by the Jordanian authorities (visitor's facilities were adequate) and leaves you with a sense that you travelled back in time to the 7th century. Walking through the castle's many ancient rooms and chambers and courtyard and climbing its ancient stone stairs, one could, if he carefully listens, hear the sounds of horses and imagine the oil lamps on the walls and hustle and bustle of caravans passing through. Jordan is rich with such archeological wonders. Sub7an Allah.
The Odeon was built in the 2nd century CE as an intimate amphitheater offering 500 seats. The ruins are kept in good condition and offer a glimpse into Roman life and culture.
Excellently preserves Roman theatre. Entry cost is cheap and includes the very interesting Folk Museum. Climb to the top of the theatre and get a feeling of what it must have been like to see a play almost 2,000 years ago. It’s also very lively with families
jeremy kalous — Google review
This is like a compact version of the big Roman Theater next to it. But, it seems to be in better condition (restored?) and feels more welcoming. There are some funky acoustics if you stand at the center of the arena.
Ankur Panchbudhe — Google review
Old but small theater next to great roman theater at downtown amman. Can use the samr ticket bought to enter roman theater.
Related to roman theater this is very small.
But both side there are walking path, yiu can get nice pics alots..
Darshana Ratnayake — Google review
Beautiful roman theater (Smaller that the other next to it) very well preserved. It is included in Jordan Pass.
Nikos Dempelis — Google review
Loved the place!
Such a magical historic location
You can’t enter the theater unless their is a concert or an event
Their is public area in front of the theater
Batoul Dhainy — Google review
The Odeon Theater or the Winter Theater is a small Roman amphitheater located in the center of the Jordanian capital, Amman, where the Great Roman Amphitheater is also located. It was built in the second century AD, before the construction of the Great Amphitheater, to accommodate about 500 spectators.
The Odeon Theater was mainly used for musical performances. Archaeologists believe it may have been roofed with a wooden roof or temporary tent to protect the audience and performers from the weather. It is believed that the severe earthquake that struck the city of Amman and the regions of the Levant in 1927 was the main reason for the demolition of a large part of it, especially its high facade.
The amphitheater and the surrounding area in the Hashemite Square have recently been restored, where concerts and poetry seminars are held today.
Mohammad Ayoub — Google review
Right next to the Roman theatre and a great deal smaller! Thought it wasn’t included in the Jordan Pass but the guard asked and we said we had it and got in for free.
It’s a lot quieter than the Roman theatre - come here if you are avoiding the ruckus and keen on admiring the ancient Roman architecture.
D Lo — Google review
Nice place to visit, architectural masterpiece
Everyone should try and experience the acoustic system when standing in the centre of the theater and speaking
Abdallah Bakij — Google review
The Odeon is a small 500-seat theatre. Not to be confused with the large Roman Theatre that stands right next to it, on the southern side of the Hashemite Plaza, while the Odeon stands on the east side of the Plaza. Very nice, tidy and clean old ruins, that is kept in good shape.
Ziad Abdullah — Google review
A smaller version of the Roman Theatre that’s right next to it. If you’re scared of heights or stairs, this is the perfect theatre for you to visit as it’s not too high not does it have many stairs.
The Amman Citadel Hill is an important historical landmark in Jordan that is home to some of the oldest and most prominent structures in the city. The hill is also home to several notable buildings, including the Umayyad palace, the Byzantine Church, The National Archaeological Museum, and the temples of Hercules.
Amazing 🤩 site to see!!!! The nice walk and gorgeous 360 degree view of the city makes it alone with the visit. But on top of that you get to see incredible ancient ruins. All for just three JD too! I recommend coming here at sunset so you get the view of everything in the day and the night. Beautiful at both times. I highly recommend you visit this spot. Enjoy
Erik S — Google review
This is a nice tourist place in the heart of Amman, and it can be easily accessed within 15 mins if you are around the city.
You can spend 2-4 hours wandering around the ancient ruins and visiting the museum, the view is spectacular as you have 360 degrees over the old city.
There’s a nice restaurant there serving authentic food and drinks, and there’s also a convenience store at the entrance selling snacks, drinks and souvenirs.
Public restrooms are just next the store.
Buses and car parking is available in front of the place free of charge.
There are guided tours if you wish to know everything about the place in main languages.
Khaled Al Hasan — Google review
In addition to the spectacular remnants of the land's rich history, the Amman Citadel overlooks remains of the amphitheatre and also offers a spectacular panoramic view of the city and the terrain.
For history enthusiasts and those with a thirst for knowledge who want to know more about the place, there are certified tour guides who can be engaged for a nominal fee.
If you go during the daytime, wearing a hat is recommended. While the weather is generally amazing (unless it's mid-summer, of course) it does get quite sunny.
Arnab Ghosh — Google review
Amman Citadel is a captivating historical gem, offering breathtaking views of the city that truly captivate the soul. The vantage point provides a panoramic spectacle, allowing visitors to marvel at the beauty of Amman. Steeped in history, the Citadel is a testament to Jordan's rich past, featuring remnants from various civilizations that have left their mark over the centuries. A visit to this site is a journey through time, where each step unveils layers of a fascinating and storied past.
Ihar Beliauski — Google review
The citadel is not big, it took us around an hour to see all the ruins and there is a small museum at the top. Located on the hill it offers great vistas of Amman. From here you can easily spot the Roman amphitheater below and one of the world's longest flags.
We wisited during noon and there wasn't much shade on the site so wear a hat, bring water with you and protect your skin.
At the entrance you can find a small cafe/shop with refreshments and a toilet nearby.
Marta Majnari? — Google review
Gorgeous location with historical architecture and the best views of Amman! The tickets were quite cheap and I highly recommend coming and seeing the Citadel especially at golden hour as the light hits the buildings so nicely plus it’s great for photos. Moderately busy depending on what time you go, but not too crowded.
Julia SH — Google review
One of the many tourist sites you must see when visiting Amman. Historical remnants of the Roman empire are visible, and the museum also tells the tales. The view of the city and the coliseum across the street is also an addition to the many photographic locations around. Avoid the taxis
outside, they will hustle big time. If you can, take an Uber. It would be good if wifi is available at the location.
C B — Google review
The Amman Citadel is an important archeological site dating back to the Bronze and Iron Ages. Amman was an important city during the Roman and Byzantine Empire. It's definitely a MUST place to visit and explore. Stunning site with layers of history to explore and a fantastic view of the city of Amman.
Highly recommended to visit in the late afternoon and stay for the glorious view of the sunset. Admire the city color changes and become golden. Also, I love hearing the call to prayer echos here on top.
Russ Lacuata — Google review
It was windy when I went. The view of the city was beautiful. It helped that I had a guide to explain the history and significance to everything. You can climb on and walk through everything. There is also a small museum at the top. I learned quite a bit. I'm curious how the people destroyed the statutes at any of the locations a long time ago, though. Nobody will talk about it, but I want to know if there was like a celebration or anger. It would be nice to place myself back in time. It's very fascinating.
Havinfun Luvin — Google review
An amazing place down in the old city center of Amman, surrounded by the highly dense yet vintage houses of Amman. Amazing scenery inside the citadel especially during Spring with a lot of history to explore!
Aladdin Attieh — Google review
This place is located in the heart of Amman city. It is easily accessible. You get a beautiful view of the Amman city from the top (I have posted pic of the view) There are other exciting things in the place like the Temple for Hercules.
Salai arun CA — Google review
Highly recommend enjoying the breathtaking views of Amman from the Citadel. There is a small museum at the top and the area is quite large so it never feels overly crowded. When I was there a couple bagpipe players were playing in the Ummayad Palace. Magical!
Iv?n Montejo-Mart?nez — Google review
Highly recommended to visit. This place is probably the best thing that you can see in Amman. Nice archaeological area with great viewpoints on city. There is a lot of space and during non season visit you meet only a few people. On every important location you can find information board with description in English, so you don't need guide. And if you have Jordan Pass, the entry is free (included), of course. Enjoy your time.

Visited these archaeological remains while in Amman, located on top of one of the city’s seven hills. The queue for buying tickets was short and the site wasn’t crowded.
The Umayyad Palace is well-preserved but the Temple of Hercules comprises only two complete columns. Other structures are either in very poor condition or are not excavated. Unfortunately the site is not policed, with tourists allowed to climb over the ruins, further escalating their decay. I personally think that this is a very poor decision.
The views across the city are good, enhancing the appeal of this place. Plus it’s only 2JD to enter. There is also a place for refreshments at the entrance and toilets.
There are far better archaeological sites to visit nearby, but this is OK to spend an hour if you’re in Amman.
David Simkins — Google review
An amazing historic place to visit in Amman. You will definitely enjoy it. A breathtaking view of the capital. It is quite hot in this time of year so refresh yourself with lots of water. The entrance fee is 3 JOD. If you prefer, you can easily arrange the private tour in the complex. Everything started here. I came during the day where not so many people inside, but I was advised later to come here before the sunset and enjoy it. There is an archaeological museum inside you should also check. A truly must visit place!

A great place to visit. The views were amazing from the top. The museum was pretty informative and worth a visit especially for a welcome break from the heat. Drink plenty of water. There is parking and toilets. Cafe is located at the entry. The Jordan pass will get stamped at the ticket booth for free entry.

Beautiful site packed with history! Glad to have visited the site. It also gives a Panasonic view of the entire Amman City. We didn’t have enough time to visit the Roman amphitheatre but we’re glad to have a good sighting of it through the Citadel.. Be sure to visit with good sun protection if visiting during the day.. it can get really sunny!
Snigdha Srivastava — Google review
The site is stunning, with clear pathways and breathtaking views of Amman and the Roman amphitheater
Although there isn't too much to see, it's still a pleasant place for a walk with lovely views and a unique blend of modern buildings and historical landmarks in the same panorama
Mai AL-Zu'bi — Google review
The citadel was a miss for me. They have a policy where you have to be there, buy the ticket, then enter an hour before the Amman Citadel will close. I arrived 15-minutes late and just got a glimpse outside before sunset.
It has a great view outside the gates anyway. Please remember to come early and don’t miss the opportunity to visit this historic piece in Jordan.

Historical landmark in Amman, Jordan. The Citadel is located in heart of City. Beautiful place, well maintained have many sites inside like Temple of Hercules, Umayyad place, old mosque, muesuem, church and can have panormaic view of Roman theatre and city.

It's a beautiful place, but there are a lot of kids who will harass you, especially if you're a woman and Asian. I visited this place with my friend, and surprisingly, they charged an entrance fee even though they don't treat it as a heritage site. I'm not sure if locals have to pay, but it seems they don't. I don't complain whether the locals pay for it or not, but since they just let the kids play in this place, it makes me feel like this place is more abandoned and ruined. The kids were climbing the columns and shouting 'Ni hao!' at us, which is very racist. We're not even from China. They kept asking us to take a selfie, and when we refused, they would immediately start cursing and follow us around in a group during our visit. It was the most frustrating and threatening experience of my life. Since they charged an entrance fee, I expected a better experience. Besides dealing with the rude kids, they should at least respect this place as a heritage site.

It’s like traveling through time, seeing what civilizations before us have achieved!
It’s a really great place to visit if you’re in Amman but you have to take into consideration the prices of the tickets vary if you’re a foreigner, as for the Jordanien the ticket will cost 25 Qiresh(0.25 dinar) but if you’re a foreigner the ticket will cost you around 5 dinar.
The Rainbow Street in Amman is a well-known promenade with cafes, restaurants, shops, and lively rooftop bars. The wide street can accommodate cafes and cars, making it the tourist hub of Jordan. Thursday nights in Jabal Amman mark the start of the weekend; during summer Fridays on Fawzi Al Maalouf Street (a side street off Rainbow) transforms into Souk Jara - a lively spot for shopping and entertainment.
Lovely spot in Amman where you can find some pubs and food trucks

Beautiful spot in Amman. Great vibes and super addresses for eating, dining and sightseeing. #rainbowstreet #amman
Oscar — Google review
One of the more notable streets in Amman filled with tons of dinning options from shawarma, pizza, pasta, falafal, burgers ice cream and smoothies.
Several hookah shops, coffee bars, along the road along with Souvenir shops which are way over priced. You'll see everything from families. Females in groups, males in groups, usually comes alive at dinner time. Traffic here is horrible. Better to take a taxi or lift because trying to find a parking spot is impossible
The main attraction is the rainbow colored lanterns. Good place to hang out, walk around and grab a bite or hookah

The Arch of Hadrian is a well-preserved, triple-bayed Roman arch built in 129 CE to honor Emperor Hadrian. It serves as the southern gateway to the Jerash archaeological site and is one of many monuments attributed to Hadrian in the Mediterranean. The site includes highlights such as a giant hippodrome, Southern Theatre, and Forum with 100 stone columns. Vendors sell postcards near the arch and there is also a nearby tour guide station.
Incredible entrance to and incredible site. This is just the beginning and it gets bigger and better as you go along. Great way to enter into an amazing historical site that keeps going on and on. Great spot for pictures. I highly recommend it.

Come super early to avoid the crowds. It was interesting but too many beggars, sorry I mean people selling low quality stuff and people asking for tips after telling you to take a panoramic picture. They’re not even from Jordan, it’s a whole bunch of Syrian and Palestinian refugees that are there ruining everyone’s experience.
Mossah Aljalal — Google review
One of many monuments attributed to Hadrian in the Mediterranean. This one is well preserved. It also serves as the southern gateway to the Jerash archeological site. Many vendors will attempt to sell you sets of postcards near the arch - the postcards seem like they are 40 years old. Also, there is a tour guide station nearby. We enjoyed the site without a guide.

The entire complex is great!! Coming in the arch of Adrien is nice but has nothing exceptional but the succession of monuments, the surface of the entire site really gives a sense of how great of a builder our ancestors were! The site has little shade, you can buy water on site so you don’t need to take too much water but the deeper you get on the site, the more expansive the water gets (up to 1.5 Jordan dollars for a small bottle). This is nonetheless worth it as you’ll see great ancient cities buildings you didn’t expect to find in Jordan! Plan for 3/4 hours on site as you go from one discovery to another. The kids had a lot of fun going through the ruins as in Jordan they benefit from a lot of freedom in what they can experiment!!!!

Make sure you have some good shoes on, you will be doing a lot of walking. A hat is much needed!
Bring two big water bottles on frozen and another that isn’t. You can stop by on those quick coffee marts on the way to this place, it’s much cheaper!

Not the arch from Greece but it’s still cool and party of the same epoch.
Tons of people visit here. It is literally overwhelming at all if it. It might be good to just visit this arch and one other place and focus on those.
We took a bus so I can speak on parking
Try and bring a guide to learn all you can.

Can see this using the Jordan pass. You walk through the entrance and get a little bit of hassle from people trying to sell you souvenirs etc but you can run the gauntlet and get past them easily enough. The arch is pretty big and spectacular to look at. You can see if from the road outside but to see it up close and walk under it is an experience.

An absolutely gorgeous step into history. It was hot but doable. The area is much larger than meets the eye and you can feel the Roman history in the area. There are so many pictures that should be taken here. This was one of my favorite stops in Jordan. The only con is the number of people trying to sell you things mostly towards the front.

A grand and beautiful structure which is now about half of its original height. The Arch of Hadrian was constructed in honor of Hadrian's visit to Jerash. Hadrian was the Roman Emperor in the second century AD. The arch originally stood at 22m and is now 11m after millennia of erosion

An important archaeologist site which is open for visitors. The gate is a Greco-Roman arch "2nd-century Hadrian’s Arch" considers as a great entrance to a great ancient city built here. Highly recommended when you visit this part of Levant countries Jordan. It is located north of the capital Amman. Ajloun Castle is a 12th-century fortress built by one of Saladin's generals atop Mt Auf. The castle was strategically located to defend against the Crusaders and commands views of the Jordan Valley and three wadis leading into it. Visitors can tour the well-maintained castle, which has interpretive displays and a gift shop.
Wow 🤩!!!!! This is a HUGE and AMAZING castle with so much history. I couldn’t believe the condition that it was in. Spectacular. It was very well built for sure. Love the architecture. You can explore all over the castle and for only 3JD. What an experience. Cool to see how they lived. One interesting thing is how they collected and purified their drinking water.

A very nice castle with many things to explore on various levels. Take some time to appreciate the castle and its beautiful views over the Jordan Valley, rolling hills, and olive groves. If you come late afternoon the sunset view is great for some amazing photos. Staff is also very friendly. I did not plan to stay long, but ended up staying for about 2 hours, taking in the fresh breeze and the stunning views. Also, visit the museum.
Bring water, as I was not able to buy bottled water inside the castle.

I had the pleasure of visiting Ajloun Castle in 2014 and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The castle's rich history and stunning architecture make it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and travelers alike.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the majestic presence of the castle, perched atop a hill, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The well-preserved structure and its intricate details were truly awe-inspiring.
Exploring the castle's interior was like stepping back in time. The knowledgeable guides provided fascinating insights into the castle's history, sharing captivating stories and anecdotes that brought the site to life. The well-maintained exhibits and artifacts further enriched the experience, showcasing the castle's significance in the region's history.
One of the highlights was climbing to the top of the castle's towers, where I was rewarded with mesmerizing vistas of the Jordanian landscape. The views were simply breathtaking, and I couldn't resist taking numerous photographs to capture the beauty of the moment.
The castle grounds were well-maintained, with plenty of informative signage and resting areas. The staff members were friendly, accommodating, and more than willing to answer any questions I had.
Overall, my visit to Ajloun Castle was nothing short of extraordinary. Its historical significance, impressive architecture, and stunning surroundings make it a true gem in Jordan's cultural heritage. I highly recommend this site to anyone seeking an immersive and enchanting journey back in time.

The place is beautiful, and have a rich history. However, some people are disgusting, whether they are throwing trash or smoking inside the castle. Ajloun Castle
Standing 1250 meters above sea level is Ajloun Castle. Ajloun Castle is a 12th Century fortress that was built under the rule of the sultan and military leader Saladin. The Castle is set on top of Mount ‘Auf and provides visitors with astonishing views of the Jordan Valley and surrounding desert. Over the years the castle has undergone many rebuilds and although much of the original features no longer exist, there are many chambers, carvings, and towers to keep both adults and children interested.

Ajloun Castle can be seen on the Mount Ajlon hilltop. As soon as we see it for the first time, we want to be there as soon as possible. Fortunately, we can get there quickly by car. Its stormy history left a serious mark on the castle. You can't get enough of the unique landscape of the Jordan Valley.

The church, built in the 19th century, contains a mosaic floor dating back to the Byzantine period. The floor is significant because it is one of the oldest maps of Palestine in existence and provides many historical insights into the region.
A very small church which stands over thousands of years. In the floor you will still see the maps that were drawn. If you go down into the church vestry you will see very old paintings. Ladies if you are wearing shorts, they will give you a gown to entre, so please make sure that you are not wearing shorts when entering the church. There is a small suvinior shop where you can purchase tickets to enter. There are many local guides standing out sidr the church who will guide you through the history of the church at an extra cost. Across from the church are small shops selling Dead Sea products and suviniors.

Beautiful church with large ancient mosaic map on the floor. With a bit of sleuthing you can figure out some of the places on the map, or you can use the legend outside. You need a ticket to enter as a tourist (they can tell who is and who isn't). You get the ticket at the gift shop. The site held our interest for longer than we expected, not only by the mosaic but also by the lovely, more recent paintings coverng the walls. No dedicated parking. We parked on a nearby street. There are plenty of inexpensive restaurants surrounding this area.

A Greek Orthodox Church in the city of Mudaba famous for its mosaic floor discovered in the 6th century.
The mosaic map on the floor was rediscovered in 1896 and the church built on top of it. Besides being famous for the oldest map in the region, the church walls are decorated with biblical murals and paintings giving the building a beautiful rustic feel.
Barely 30-40 mins outside Amman, there are a number of souvenir shops and cafes around the church. Also visit the visitor center for a full map of the King’s highway.

This church is still used for worship so please take the visiting hours into consideration. Small and nice mosaic work on the walls and columns (mainly modern panels and icons). Perhaps the most impressive feature is the mosaic floor with a medieval map of the Levant at the time of the Crusades. Entry is not included with the Jordan Pass.

A beautiful church with nice architectural and biblical importance. But i will recommend going with the help of a guide so that u get to know the meaning of the map and its importance. Also make sure not to visit on a holiday, its soo crowded that the experience is underwhelming from your expectations. The old mosaic floor is a beauty in itself.
G SBL — Google review
Apparently the church became famous when in 1884 Christian builders discovered a mosaic map of extraordinary importance. To this day, it represents the oldest map of Palestine in existence and provides many historical insights into the region
Crafted in AD 560, the map has 157 captions (in Greek) depicting all the major biblical sites of the Middle East, from Egypt to Palestine. It was originally around 15 m to 25 m long and 6 m wide, and once contained more than two million pieces. Although much of the mosaic has been lost, enough remains to sense the complexity of the whole. Its importance can be gauged by the fact that a separate enclosure has been built. Here a wall mounted copy of the map giving all the land marks in couple of languages. Batched are allowed here by turn. Once inside guides explain the map. Actual map is on the floor inside the Church.
So far as I was concerned I was most impressed the with the church itself. It was very colorful with hundreds of colorful mosaics everywhere on the wall, on pillars and all over the church. Unlike other churches where it is dark and atmosphere sober, here it was colorful and appeared vibrant with life .
Enjoyed the colorful St George's Greek Orthodox Church at Madaba.

This is the church in which famous Madaba map is located which attracts tourists to Madaba. This is an important Christian pilgrim site in Jordan. It's a 19th century Greek Orthodox Church constructed over a Byzantine church. It was discovered in 1884 during excavation to find a mosaic map measuring 25 meter long and 6 meter wide, showing all Christian holy sites in middle east. It is said that this mosaic map was made in 560 AD. Some portuons of original map were destroyed during it was burried or during excavation. But most of it is preserved. On the map, the north is on left side. Jerusalem is placed in the middle. It is believed that some Christian sites known today to the world, were exacavated after discovery of Madaba map as details of their locations were approximated from this Madaba map. The church itself is also beautifully decorated.
In courtyard of the church, in souvenir shop, a more clear version of Madaba mosaic map is out on wall which is more understandable.
Mount Nebo is a significant religious site in Jordan known for its stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and hills of Jerusalem. The site holds great historical importance to both Christians and Jews as it is believed to be the place where Moses gazed upon the Promised Land. Visitors can explore ancient ruins, view intricate mosaics at Madaba and learn about local culture from knowledgeable drivers.
The views are breathtaking. Before you come, refresh yourself with the biblical story of Moses. This memorial is awe inspiring and helped me put a site to the story. Being in the same location genuinely moved me emotionally.

As I stood atop Mt Nebo I really wished
Moses had the same experience as I thousands of years ago. Apparently he could see all the lands “that god gave his people” for hundreds of Kilometers. If the weather was not so clear perhaps middle eastern history would be radically different today! On an overcast and hazy day you barely see the road you drove up on. We approached from river Jordan direction and the road is a spectacular drive of crazy gradients and hairpin bends.

A beautiful well-preserved medieval castle with wonderful views in all directions, including the Dead Sea. We visited it in July 2023. We arrived early in the morning, we walked around the castle completely alone as the only visitors, which had its charm. Free parking is possible at GPS 31.182384, 35.703016, a short distance from the entrance. Entry is free with the Jordan Pass. There are toilets in front of the entrance gate, there are no more in the area and there are no refreshments either. The castle area is very large, it is one of the largest Crusader castles in the area. If you want to go through everything, it will take a lot of time and you will sweat a lot. We spent about 1.5 hours at the castle, which was enough to absorb the atmosphere.

Amazing to see this castle. The views are incredible of the surrounding landscape. The sheer determination in building this castle such a long time ago with limited tools is astounding. So much history here of battles and wars. The surrounding area has plenty of shops and restaurants. Parking is not easy at busy times. Not much else to once you’ve walked around for a few minutes and taken your pics. I was in and out within an hour.

Great place to visit. Free with the Jordan pass. Parking was an issue and the restaurant was out of most food at 1.30pm so ensure you travel accordingly. A relief from the sun in the inner rooms underground. Quite windy as it's high up. If taking kids make sure they don't run off as you can get lost. Photos illustrate this.

Great place with lots of history some of it extremally cruel. The Castle is a large Crusader built, as part of their efforts to control the region. It was used as a base for operations against the Muslims. The castle was also used as a prison and a place of refuge for the Crusaders .It has four towers connected by walls that are about 10 meters thick. There are lots of rooms, a great hall, a chapel, and a kitchen. There is also a well inside the castle that provided water for the inhabitants.

The castle itself is beautiful and included in Jordan pass. Definitely worth visiting. I would give it 5*, however there was one catch for which I take 1* down.
At the entrance we got a guide, who was really nice and guided us around the castle, which took approximately 20 - 25 minutes. I was expecting that I would give him some money, but in the end he demanded 10 - 12 dinars, we had just dollars and the end was a bit embarrassing. If there would be a clear statement in the beginning - I offer you guiding, it will take 25 minutes and it costs 12 dinars, then I would be completely fine with it. But we didn't have much choice and he started guiding us even without asking.

This castle is super cool! I highly suggest you make a stop to visit this castle on your way to Petra. It does not take long to see all of it but you will not be disappointed. There are many interesting features such as barracks, prison cells, quarters for monks and nuns, and latrines and kitchens (though don’t worry, they are not in the same spot!) make sure you print out your Jordan passport to get a discount!

Visiting Karak Castle was like stepping back in time. The vast, ancient walls and the breathtaking views from the top were awe-inspiring. Wandering through the maze of rooms and passageways felt like a real adventure, although I wished there were more signs to explain the rich history. It's a bit of a climb, so good shoes are a must. Be wary of the tour guides near the entrance; while informative, they can be pricey. Overall, it's a captivating place that's definitely worth a visit, especially for those fascinated by medieval history.

Included in Jordan Pass, otherwise 2JD. Large Castle area with many passageways and hidden rooms. Not a lot of signage so best to read up on the area before arriving.
Didn’t feel it was a “must see” but definitely worth a bathroom break (they even had TP!) and a quick 30 minute tour around the ruins.
Read on other reviews that parking was 3JD, but we didn’t find it. Be warned - All shop/restaurant owners offer “free” parking in front but expect you to buy something.
Wadi AlMujib is a popular destination for hiking and canyoning due to its steep gorge that leads to the Dead Sea. The area boasts dramatic rock formations and several historical sites, including Roman ruins at Umm ar-Rasas, Karak Castle, Shobak Castle, and the Dana Valley. Visitors can also enjoy stunning views along the Kings Highway Tour. A unique natural hot spring can be found in the park without entry taxes.
I passed by Wadi Mujib on the way from Mount Nebo to Wadi Musa, but the trail was closed due to rain that day, so took some pictures from outside. Despite the disappointment of non-entrance, I found it unbelievably beautiful from outside as well and will plan to visit next time. There is a Dead Sea on opposite to it. We spent our time floating on it.
Its entrance cost was 23 JOD. Though one can also use Jordan Pass.
Wadi Mujib, also known as the Mujib Nature Reserve, is a canyon in Jordan that holds significant historical and natural importance. Historically, it has been a vital passage between the Dead Sea and the mountains of Moab. Today, it's recognized as a protected area and a biosphere reserve, known for its diverse ecosystems and unique biodiversity. The area has been inhabited for thousands of years, with evidence of human settlements dating back to ancient times.

First of all there are 2 locations for wadi al muwjib on google maps. And this is the correct one. The other one is wadi al muwjibs Dam, where there are no trips, its just a dam.
Very nice place to visit. 15JD for Jordanians, 18JD For residents and 21JD for Foreigners. These are the entry prices which includes the safety Vest. You can get the water proof bag for phones for an extra 10JD, and then you have to return it back.
I don't recommend it to children or to elder people unless you have enough stamina to walk and hike in the water and rocks for 4 Kilometers approximately.
Very nice in the summer, because the water is a bit cool. It opens from 8 AM - 4 PM.
Preparations:
- i recommend going in a car or with a trip organizer (will charge more).
- i recommend wearing a long light trouser. I wore shorts and the fishes in the water were pinching me all the time. Very irritating.
- wear a shoes inside the trip with textures so it gets a good grab on the rocks when climbing. Also get a pair of slippers so when you get out, you'll get comfortable after.
- they tell you and warn you about getting your phone inside. You can take it, it's not that serious. however, make sure you get a water proof bag with it.
- also get a spare t-shirt and trousers or shorts. Because when you get out, you will be wet.

One of if not the best experience I had in Jordan.
Well organized, Astonishing path, the track is well managed, ropes Are available and placed where needed weather climbing up or down, deep water and against the current.
My recommendation is to not take anything with you only water and light snack.

An Extraordinary place to visit when in Jordan.its such a beauty to your eyes. An adventure with a dip of nature and flowy waters.
It's a trail of about 2 hours depending upon your stamina. There are a few difficult spots where you need to climb ladders and hold ropes to pull yourself to the other side with rushywaters coming on you. You will get completely wet. So wear waterproof clothes and waterproof shoes (mandatory) as you need to walk on big rocks throughout. Available on rent at the counter.
Also don't forget to carry a waterproof bag to protect your phone and cameras. Also available on rent for 10JOD.
Do carry some water and a snack as you might get hungry and exhausted.
The trail has to be walked through out and while returning you can just float on the water and come back. We went on 29 April ,the weather is favourable and so it's awesome fun
At the end of the trail , there's a waterfall.
Overall a completely unmissable treat awaiting you.

FH4V+6PQ, Dead sea road, Sweimeh, Jordan
I'll never travel to Sharm El Sheikh without this trip planner again
Kalia Beach is a renowned destination near the Dead Sea, popular for its mud baths and saltwater floating. Visitors can access the beach via taxi from nearby locations, such as Jericho. The facility offers amenities such as showers, changing rooms, sunbeds, and a bistro as well as access to food vendors and bars.
It is a bucket list experience. Highly reccomended. The facility near to the beach is very convenient, they have showers and dressing rooms and a pricey bar. Make sure you follow the safety guidelines.

A great tourist destination at the shore of dead sea. You are in Israel and across the sea you see Jordan. Don't forget to experience the much famous mud bath at the dead sea. They also have packed mud which has cosmetic benefits in their stores. Good time here and much recommended.

To get here(2023): get 486 from the Jerusalem central bus station, from the 3th floor(yeah, weird), buy tickets from and return - 32ILS, same as a day card, so I recommend that. You can get 444 too, or in return, but BE SURE to ask the driver if he stops there.
To be here: you have a 12 min. walk to the beach. You need to pay 18 ILS to enter. You have free showers, some shops and other amenities like lockers and shuttle that you need to pay for.
Wear flops to get to the beach.
At the beach: It is EXTREMELY slippery! Be careful. It's a muddy water, with mud, stone and salt. Don't get it in your eyes, it will hurt a lot. Follow the safety instructions and just keep in mind - it's not a sea. It's a rehab-lake. You can, at best, spend an hour or two there. You don't need more. Your skin will dry up too, so beware of the sun.

Nice place. The mud and salt in the dead sea are amazing. There are showers, sunbeds, changing rooms, a nice bistro and a gift shop. Price is fair for the value you get. A must see when you are in Israel.

Great place to visit the Dead Sea. No need to buy the all inclusive package to enter as you won’t need to stay more than 30 minutes down by the water.
Food and drinks on the lowest bar were great, with great service.

The camping space is great. You get beachfront real estate for peanuts.
We came late at night and were greeted with the polite staff that even offered to drive our stuff to the campgrounds.
The campgrounds are spaced, with lighting and clean facilities. I would definitely recommend this for anyone that wants to get into camping but wants a safe space with all the facilities of a hotel.
The beach is beautiful, unique.
Just make sure that you have a bottle of water next to you before you get in the water to be able to wash your eyes. Otherwise it is a cumbersome walk each time you get some water in your eyes when swimming.

Unique experience to lay on this highly salty water, timeless lake surounded by thousand stories from ancient times between mysticism and magic. Stunning hills around, very nice service and comfortable hammocks.

We had a wonderful time here, pay a small fee and you can use the umbrellas which I highly recommend with the heat. Plan on having a beverage here if you have the time, we had initially rushed our visit but this is definitely a cool place to spend at least two hours.

It's not really a beach in the common sense of the word, its more like a rocky shore. Be careful, to bathe is a bit of a dangerous experience because of all the rocks hidden in the mud, but it serves the purpose of getting to the Dead Sea.
The positive points include the locker rooms to get changed and showers, which are convenient for visitors. But the real highlight is the experience of entering the Dead Sea itself. The sensation of effortlessly floating is truly amazing and something I had wanted to do for a long time.
The shop area is well done and offers a variety of items for sale, such as beauty products from the Dead Sea, towels, flip flops, and a bar. However, the downsides of the beach are significant. For one, it is a paid beach, and I felt that I was overcharged, as the price listed was 18 shekels, but I was charged 35. Perhaps there is a different price for tourists and non-tourists?
Additionally, the scenery before arriving at the (paid) parking area seemed apocalyptic, with old buildings from the Jordanian army turned into graffiti canvas, but not in a good way. The beach itself is rather small, crowded, dirty, and the plastic chairs don't add to its aesthetic appeal. Moreover, the bathing area is filled with underground rocks that you can't see due to the mud, it can seriously hurt you if you're not paying close attention, you can easily bruise yourself (and it hurts like hell because all of the saltiness). While there's nothing that can be done about the rocks, it would be helpful to have visible warnings or to put the stairs in a more straight and safe place.
Overall, I didn't love Kalia Beach on the Dead Sea. The place seemed designed to guide visitors towards spending money, and the beach itself wasn't particularly pleasant to look at. However, bathing in the Dead Sea is a unique experience that you should do at least once in your life. So, I recommend it for the experience, but don't expect a luxurious or peaceful beach visit....!

I went with a tour group, it was very easy to get in as we had "prepaid". Good outdoor shower faclities. We went on a Saturday around 1pm and it was not too busy. Great experience.

Truly a phenomenal place. An unusual body of water with such a high salt content that you float . In addition the rich mineral content of the mud gives you such a refreshing experience. It's the lowest place on the earth below sea level which is also a great fun fact

Nice beach, there is a restaurant/bar inside,
Be ready to walk down/up to/from the beach (at least 5min) with super hot temperatures else you need to pay more (48 nis per person) which includes car parking, shuttle and chairs in front of the beach
Saed Bisharat — Google review
Terrible i dont recommend
I picked this beach because it was the closest one to jerusalem, and as we intended to use public transport, other beaches felt too far.
Mistake 🫠. 18 nis per person per entrance is not that much (mind that I haven't been in other beaches near dead see, so I can't really compare b in this riegion), but it's definitely not worth the money.
There is no bathroom near the beach - u have to walk up about 200-300 m. NO FITTING ROOM on the beach - u have to walk up even further 😅 This might be fine for younger guests but i had my 60 y old mum with me and she wasnt happy 😅
Staff will try to convince you to buy all in tickets (35 nis pp), which include shuttles from entrance down to the beach (if you are at least in ,,walkable,, condition, u don't need it, its literally 5 minutes down by foot and max 10 min back up).
Mind that bathrooms and fitting rooms are up, in the middle way between sea and entrance, so u would have to go up to change/go to the bathroom anyway. Even if shuttle takes u down.
All in ticket also includes umbrella and seats near the sea. Complete disaster 😅 Luckily I didn't take all in ticket but for those who are interested: uncomfortable plastic dirty chairs and tiny umbrellas (those cheap one u can buy for couple of bucks 😆)
So, i definitely don't recommend all in ticket.
Its possible to get here with public transport (air-conditioned busses which leave from central jerusalem bus station). We paid 32 nis per person (daily ticket). BUT bus stop is far from the beach. Its about 18 minutes walk via super hot (and bit dirty) ,,desert,,. There is no sidewalk but road empty so it was fine to walk on the car road.
Lowest bar on the earth- nice stuff, eatable food. Nothing super tasty. I had sabich and it was meah 😅 Looked nice though 😆
For reference read other bad reviews- they are all completely right. I should have check reviews by the worst one, not the date 😅

One of the very few public beaches on the dead sea. Most of the sea is receding so much there aren’t many public places to swim. I found this place, extremely overcrowded, and not well-kept. Even getting into the water, and there were large stones below the surface you could see in many of our group scuffed their knees on them, which was extremely painful in the salt filled water. If it’s a possibility, I would recommend just finding a place to park and enjoying the Red Sea on your own.
Qumran National Park is an ancient site located in the Judaean Desert where a small but fascinating sect lived 2,000 years ago. It is famous for being the location where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered and written. Other notable sites in the area include Qaser El Yahud and Ein Gedi National Park. The park offers stunning sights and amazing hikes, including a trek around Masada for experienced hikers with an incredible view of Masada that only a few people get to see.
This place was cool. It is where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. There was also a whole civilization up there that has been dug up and discovered as well, all dating back to between 100BC-70AD. Highly recommend, give yourself at least an hour to tour the grounds. One of my favorites on the trip.

Hike to the caves, have a $12 buffet lunch and pick up some souvenirs. Food is incredibly average but the shopping is decent. Prices are not too bad. Recommend a quick stop in conjunction with the Dead Sea.

I'm here with a group and it's a great experience seeing things that are several thousand years old. There are 2 ways to get to the top of this mountain to see fortress on top, cable car or about an hour of hard walking.
Every person gets a nice guide map with their tickets and all of the sites are well marked.
I felt like I had stepped back into ancient time.

If you're going in Spring/Summer get there early so the heat isn't that much and the tours aren't crowding the place. It's a very small museum with a small archeological site, but the hike (green trail) has very beautiful scenery and is not so difficult. Getting there on public transport is also quite easy, just take a bus from Jerusalem and you'll be there in 40-50 minutes. Although this is the place where the Dead Sea Scrolls where found, you will not see them here, you need to go to the Israel Museum in Jerusalem for that, where the exhibition is truly amazing.

This is where the Dead Sea manuscripts were found, proving that the contents of today's Bible can be verified. Here are the ruins of houses and cities of the Essenes. We can explore this place both through short and long routes. There are also the famous Dead Sea caves. This place has a museum that explains the activities of the Essenes. Dan has a very complete shop, selling souvenirs and typical promised land products, deadsea minerals, cosmetics, spices, jewelry, etc.

Really cool and easy to get to on your way to the Dead Sea.
The movie at the beginning is little cheesy and I was hoping there was more to learn about the Dead Sea Scrolls themselves, but you can find that at the Israel Museum.
Nonetheless, the archeological site is quite amazing and the the whole area is breathtaking. Definitely worth seeing as nd should only be about 45 mins to an hour.

This is a special place. The historical significance is enough, but the landscape is also beautiful. The gift shop is rather extensive, with plenty of trinkets and T-shirts and an entire room of Dead Sea lotions and cosmetics. They also have drinks and chocolate.

Qumran National Park
Site of where the Essenes lived during the first temple period (2nd century BC- 1st century AC).
Dead sea scrolls were found in 1946.
This site has a small walk through exhibit showing what a ritual bath arrangement looked like, as well as the scribe room.
Outside, you can walk among the ruins, see the aqueduct system used to collect the tiny amount of rain water that falls from the hills to the west, and see the cave where the scrolls were discovered.
The gift ship is extensive with a large percent dedicated to dead sea skin products.

Beautiful historical site where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered on the same day that Israel was recognized as a nation. Worth the visit. Be careful with the gift shop, watch the price’s because there are similar items for half the price if you look closely.

This place was breathtaking. The vastness was like no other place I've seen. Although there's not much to look at, it's still really cool to see where they found the dead sea scrolls.
If you visit, remember to bring lots of water and sunscreen because it is hot! Due to it being the lowest point on earth, which is also pretty cool.

Masada National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that features ancient ruins and serves as a historical landmark. It was built more than 2000 years ago by King Herod and offers visitors an outstanding introduction to Masada's archaeology and history through its museum. The fortress sits on top of a plateau, providing visitors with breathtaking views of the Dead Sea.
One of the most impressive sites I’ve ever visited. Tons of history behind this. Quick ascent to the top by gondola. Stunning views from above. Spent a couple of hours at the top exploring the different structures and stories behind them.

This was a great stop. The tram is cool. I think if I had more time I would have hiked up and taken the tram down. We missed a lot as we were on a time frame but you could easily spend half a day here. Lots to see in the top. Definitely worth the visit.

Fascinating place with such an interesting history behind it. Well worth going , makes a huge difference if you have a good tour guide to provide you with the historical information as you go. The way they have excavated the ruins and then showed the additions is great. Helps give "you" a much better inside to how it once looked. Take plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially on a hot day. There is a gift shop and restaurant at the bottom as well as restrooms.

Masada is one of the obligatory trips when people come to Israel. And it can get super hot. We were lucky enough to go when there were a few clouds in the sky and the heat wasn’t super oppressive. It was only 82° F.
Masada is rich in history and stories of strength and tragedy.
If you’re lucky enough to get a great tour guide, it will make the trip even better.

Still with excavations in progress and great facilities already built an amazing historical place right at the dead sea. A mandatory visit if you are in the vicinity. There is a well marked trail from the bottom of the hill to the fortress or alternatively you can take a cable car which allows breathtaking views.

Masada has deep historical roots. The preservation of this site is absolutely amazing. You take a cable car to the top, so many who don't love heights may find Masada a little much. I am not a fan of heights, but it was worth it. The views from the top of Masada have a great view of the Dead Sea.

Ruins of a Dynasty, ruined by a greedy Kingdom. The great efforts of the excavation team brink back the lifestyle and architecture before 3000 years.

A fantastic place 👍 What a work making this place. The story of the Jewish choosing freedom instead of slavery..
Walking 🚶♀️ around and saw the water system 😊👍 the water was coming from the mountain ⛰ to see the bathroom, the living room and the food storage.
You have a synagogue 🕍 but also a church ⛪ from the Byzantine period..
To come to the castle, you can walk up. It's a beautiful walk you need water 💧 or you can take the cable car, and you still need water 💧 at the top you can refill your water bottle..

What more could you ask for?
I mean air conditioning the ruins would be nice cause it was ridiculously hot when we were there 52°C.
All joking aside, this park is worth every shekel. I highly encourage the morning walk up the snake path. It’s not for the faint of heart but it is worth it. Anything worth doing takes effort!

A place where culture meets terrible history. Visiting the ruins was great and our guide made a very good job describing the atmosphere at the time. To get there you can either take the switch back trail, also called the Snake Path, or, if you don't feel like walking up, gondolas are available to get to the top.
We took the gondolas as after you get up there you still have quite a bit of walking to do the tour itself.
Most of the ruins were rebuilt in part due to the battle that raged there between the Romans and the Jews. The saddest part for me was the global suicide of the Jews to set them free from the siege to avoid to be enslaved again from the Romans as they were losing the battle. Very emotional city.

Visiting this attraction formed part of the Masada and Dead Sea day trip we went on with Being Harim. The route out was interesting as you travelled along the dead sea. It was interesting seeing the sinkholes on our way there.
We got the cable car up to site and then walked round some of the ruins and rebuilds. The tour guide was good and snappy through the relevant bits. It was fascinating learning the significance of this place to King Herod.
However, it is mainly ruins and was a good way to fill out the day to the dead sea, hut maybe not a necessity

Visiting Masada National Park was an awe-inspiring experience that left me deeply moved by the rich history and breathtaking views.
One of the highlights was witnessing the awe-inspiring sunrise from the fortress walls. The vibrant colors dancing across the Dead Sea, coupled with the peaceful silence of the desert, created a truly magical atmosphere. It was a moment that will forever be etched in my memory.
Exploring the site, we marveled at the well-preserved structures, including the ancient synagogue, bathhouses, and the imposing palaces. The views from the summit were simply breathtaking, offering a breathtaking panorama of the desert landscape and the Dead Sea in the distance.
Masada National Park’s commitment to preservation and conservation is evident throughout. The efforts to protect and restore this historical gem are commendable, allowing visitors to step back in time and appreciate the remarkable heritage that unfolds within these ancient walls.
I highly recommend visiting Masada National Park to anyone with an interest in history, nature, or simply seeking a unique and memorable experience. The combination of historical significance, stunning landscapes, and a well-organized visitor experience make it a must-see destination.
A trip to Masada National Park is an unforgettable journey that will leave you with a profound appreciation for the resilience of the human spirit and the natural beauty of the Israeli desert. Don’t miss this gem on your travels!

One of my favorite National Park in Israel. No trip to Israel is complete without visiting this place. It is filled with so much history with a breathtaking view of the Dead Sea. The best time to visit is sunrise. This is a place that is usually very busy on weekends so it is advisable to schedule your arrival during the week.
There are a few ways to get up:
1. Snake path - This is the long path up to the mountain.
•Length: The route climbs to a height of 350 meters, and is 2.7 Km long.
•Opens for ascent every day one hour before Sunrise and closes for descent one hour before closing time.
•On very hot days the Snake Path ascent closes at 09:00AM and the descent closes at 10:00AM. When heat is extreme, the Snake Path ascent closes at 08:00 and the decent closes at 09:00. The descent via the Roman Ramp is open as usual.
2. The Roman ramp path - This is the short path.
Starting point: West entrance.
•Length: 0.7 Kilometers
3. Cable car - A round trip by cable car will cost 23$.
• You need to make a reservation!
•Starts working at 8AM!

Great Place. Medium well prepared ruins but overall nice, because the story behind them makes it even more exciting. The best are the views which are immaculate. The one con is the price. For 22$ it's still worth it, but you feel a bit ripped off. For me a price of 15$ would be more reasonable.

Of all the stops I've made on my 10 day trip to Israel thus far, I think that the Masada National Park has been a standout experience. Everything about this location is fascinating to me, from the history shared through stories, the picturesque scenery with the Dead Sea and Jordan in the distance, to the clear archeological relevance of this site (and including the research center that studies living in harsh conditions). This National Park is, to me, definitely worth taking the time to visit!!
Majestic beach. Very organized, lifeguards and showers and chairs. Parking near by. Very clean. Better to wear swimming shoes that can't float off the feet.

The Dead Sea is a fantastic place to visit. I am not generally a big fan of the beach, as my light skin tends to burn easily, but I think that if you are in this region a visit is worthy.
The sea itself is extremely salty of course, but the said salt levels make the water buoyant so that one can float which is a lot of fun. Plus, the mineral rich water is good for cleansing the skin.
The mud under the thin layer of sand under the water is world famous for its properties and is FREE here. All you have to do is dig a little.
The only thing that stopped me from spending longer in the healing waters was that I got some of it in my eye. The healing water turned nasty and decided to burn so I had to rush to wash my eyes out.
Learn from me and keep some water near the shore and your head out of the water.
I covered myself in the mineral rich mud and treated my skin to a treatment that would cost a fortune in a New York or London spa and all was good again.
The Dead Sea is a magical place and in my opinion is one of the many things that makes the area known as the Holy Land holy.
I implore you all to visit before it vanishes into a salt flat and the world becomes a little less special.

Very beautiful. The sea had the fresh temperature in February. I recommend to take shoes to the water, because there are sharp crystals of salt. There is not any mud, you can buy in the shopping mall. There are very good high pressure showers. We visited in a time, when the marathon was planned.

The only way to reach the free public beach is through the Dead Sea Hotel. The hotel charges you 15JD for doing so. This lets you also use their change rooms and showers. If you want to use one of their towels they charge you 3 JD extra and again if you want to use a locker. The beach area is small with limited seats. The beach is a stony beach so it’s tough to walk on. You will be able to pick up giant salt crystals. The best way to enter is to float in on your back, you won’t sink. You must be careful not to get any of the water in your eyes or mouth. They have 3 big buckets of mud and you can cover yourself in it. Then stand in the sun to dry off. Once your dry go back in the sea to wash off. Your skin will become so soft. You must use the showers on the beach afterwards to make sure you get rid of the salt. The sunset is amazing the light on the water is beautiful.

For backpacker's tip
Number one: bring your own food, you can sit here enjoying after swimming
Number two: do NOT swim, make sure the water not splash to your eyes, otherwise you'll feel it so much hurt, if you get it unfortunately, go to shower directly, they have place for you to shower.
Number three: the bathroom in the shopping center cost 2 shekels, so you could go to the hotel or the beach to use it for free.
Al-Siq, a 1.2km canyon with steep red-rock walls, is a renowned tourist attraction in Jordan leading visitors to temples and other sites. Its narrow passage creates an atmosphere of anticipation for the hidden city of Petra that lies ahead. The Nabataeans recognized its spiritual significance and turned it into a sacred way with various spiritual landmarks dotting the path.
We had visited during the last week of Dec and it was very cold and breezy. It's one of my favorite destinations in Petra! Amazing to see the nature and colours of the stones.
One has to walk a few kilometers through the Al Siq Canyon to get to Petra's most famous "Treasury". It looked like a way to guide people to the treasure of Petra. Unforgettable memories and it's worth the long walk.

Walking in a narrow canyon on the main trail on the way to the treasury. It was really hot out and suddenly cooled down since the canyon walls block the sunlight. Reminds me a lot of antelope canyon and the narrows from Zion national park. Even though the main trail is a long walk, walking through here made it seem very short since walking through here itself felt like part of the experience

Truly gorgeous views, rivaling the monuments themselves. The sunlight and shadow highlight the already painted canyon walls in never-ending variety. You'll need to follow the slot canyon photography strategy: take a picture, turn around, take another picture. Take a few steps, and the scene changes completely, so repeat for the next mile. Go first thing or last thing to minimize the number of people in your views. Also, you can pay to ride through the Siq on a golf cart.

Al - Siq is the main gateway to the ancient Nabatean city of Petra in southern Jordan. Also known as Siqit, it is a beautiful, narrow gorge that winds for approximately 1.2 kilometers and ends at Petra's most intricate, hauntingly beautiful structure, Al Khazneh. Petra was built so that it was almost impossible to attack it. Namely, in order to enter it, you have to go through this extremely narrow canyon, up to sixty meters high in some places, and a kilometer long. Throughout history, the city has had great geographical importance. It is located between the Red and Dead Seas, so throughout history it was important to the Egyptians, Arabs and Phoenicians. It was also an important place for the transport of Chinese silk, as well as Indian spices. That is why the position of Petra is extremely important, as well as this passage to a magnificent city with many sights. It is exciting to follow the winding road and the canyon itself, which delights with its beauty in the alternation of pastel colors of orange, brown and gray. The main part of the Siq was created by natural rock formation and the rest was carved by the Nabataeans. At the beginning of the Siq, one can still see the remains of the city's gate. On both sides of the Siq, there are channels to draw water from Wadi Musa (the Valley of Moses), from outside the city to the inside. From the right, it is evident that the water flowed through pottery pipes, but the left channel is carved from the rock and covered with panels of stone, and there are spaces in place to filter water. At the beginning of the Siq the original Nabataean dams are visible, and these prevented the flooding in the Siq, and collected water for use. The floor of the Siq is paved with stone slabs, part of which can be viewed in its original location.

Loved this part of the trail. Probably one of the best experiences of the whole complex. It's just stunning and very unique. You jusr walk around mesmerised looking at the rock formations

The gorge entering into the archaeological site at Petra is every bit as amazing as the site itself! The sandstone walls with their incredible texture and colors is breathtaking.

It literally means "the shaft." Walking through the Siq is an experience in itself. The entrance to the city of Petra is through narrow gorge, flanked on either side by soaring high cliff.
The long walk through the canyon is an exciting journey that is worth a visit not only for the historical treasures that lie beneath but also for being one of the unique geological landscapes in the world.
Russ Lacuata — Google review
This is the gorge that is near the start and takes you directly to the Treasury. At some points the walking parts of Al Siq is a large space but sometimes it shrinks down to a smaller space. Really nice colored walls of the gorge. If you’re walking in the morning you get nice shade along your walk, during midday it is horrible. There are a few benches and trash bins along the way so you could take a break at times. Overall nice to see Al Siq and the water systems they built with this amazing structure.

It's always beautiful to walk in this valley. The road is narrow and the rocks are tall. A lot of different colors of the rocks are also stunning. And after all there is waiting for the beauty of the whole journey. The most famous and iconic building from the whole country. Thank you🤩

A siq, a natural splitting of the mountain is 1.2 km long. 2 water channels run along both rock sides

Winding shaded passage, full of exciting surprises: multicolored massive rock formation that play with light & shade leading you finally & gently to a surprising partial vista of the Treasury.....sliwly disclosing parts of it until the whole Treasury is wide open in front of you.... lovely 3-D experience
The Treasury, an elaborate temple carved out of sandstone rock face in Jordan, is believed to have been a mausoleum. It gained fame from being featured in the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Located at the end of a mile-long gorge called Siq, visitors can witness the rose-colored rock carving slowly unveiling itself as they walk through. The temple offers a peaceful experience with occasional sounds of chariots passing by.
Tips for the wonder of the world:
1. To take the great pictures of it, just go little bit on the side , there is a corner covered with the carpets, you can ask locals to take pictures over there.
2. To get the shots from the top, you need to pay about 10$ per person to the locals that will try to catch you on the streets. Don’t pay more than that.
3. Take proper shoes for climbing as some areas are dangerous :)
4. Enjoy each minute next to this beauty.

Petra is famous for its temples and mausoleums, most of which are built on the edge of the city, above the main street. Some tombs are simply designed, containing numerous burial pits in an unadorned stone mausoleum, while others are elaborately designed.
One will have to climb 19 steps to the stop and then 8 more steps through 4 pillars to reach the temple corridor before coming to a main hall with the size of each side of the hall about 28m. At the end is the Most Holy Place.
Coming to Petra is not only coming to thousands of years old architecture but also coming to the harmony between a peak culture and majestic nature.

Amazing! But (as expected) very touristic; including myself :) Use the back entrance!
The whole of Petra is beautiful and fantastic to finally see. Whenever you enter from the general entrance at the museum, it will be crowded up until the Treasure. Afterwards the crowds will decrease a lot.
On our second day in Petra we asked a taxi to take us to the back entrance. This was the best decision we made! We were the only ones there! We showed our tickets and walked on a paved road for 10-15 minutes until we arrived at the Great Temple.

Truly one of the great wonders of the world. While not as impressive on the inside (Indiana Jones lied to me ;) ), The Treasury is an amazing sight to behold. When you first lay eyes on it as you exit the Petra Canyon, it will literally take your breath away. This is a must visit location if you are ever lucky enough to get the opportunity.

This is the most iconic part of the entire place. It is the biggest most well preserved piece as well as the most crowded place. Make sure to go in the morning or noon when there is sunlight shining on part of the treasury. Also look out for where you walk and do not step into camel poop.

Gorgeous location, well worth the visit and super safe. Plan for two days and a lot of walking to make the best of it. One negative is hard to see the donkeys and camel skinny and probably hungry but history is amazing there.

Entry was hassle and queue free. Once in get your tickets at the ticket office and then walk to the entry point where they check your tickets and passports. We walked a while on the dirt track and through the canyon in blazing heat to get to this beautiful monument. Where a bit of ancient history awaited us. A place hidden under sand for a thousand years! An iconic Jordanian attraction and a must visit. I couldn't visit Jordan and not visit Petra. Entry is included with the Jordan Pass which waives the Visa cost, so well worth it even if you enter Jordan and only visit Petra. We absolutely loved it! We walked to the top for a better view and had tea with the Bedioun but it was worth it for the crowd free photograph opportunity. Be aware they do ask for money for taking you up to the view point we paid 4 dinar per person which included the tea. If you're too tired to walk back they have camels horses and golf carts to transport you back to the exit for between 10 - 25 Dinar the queues were huge so we walked back. Or you can brave the walk back too at your own peril, exhausting. Honestly though stunning, worth it take it all in and enjoy.

Absolutely amazing place that you must visit at least once in your lifetime!
It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and has thousands of years of history.
Made famous by the scene that includes the Treasury carved complex in one of the Indiana Jones movies, it has become a popular tourist destination.
After going through the entrance, it is a one mile hike to the Treasury through a narrow canyon. You can book a ride there in a golf cart, or ride a horse, if you like.
Plan on several hours here to hike around to see all of the ancient structures, tombs, and caves in Petra.
It gets very busy and crowded in the middle of the day. It’s best to be at the gates at opening time to beat the crowds.
If you get a chance to do the Petra by Night tour, do it! It’s only 3 nights a week.

Stunning, beautiful, a bucket list trip. This is one of the most magnificent places around the world I have visited. Just seeing how vast the city was in the valley along with all the temples and structures throughout. To think that some of them are still standing, is incredible.

Super, the treasury definitely it's one of the biggest wonders of the world, we had the opportunity to see it from the top, you need a guide to take you there, 1 hour hiking, nice to learn the history, nice museum, but too crowded, vendors are very annoying, careful with the horse or camel ride, they ask for whatever tip you want to give, then, a the end they ask you for fixed price, no nice. If you don't pay they yell at you.
Petra at night show its no worth it, save your 17 dinars, they light it up with candles, you barely can see the path,

Loved it! Experience is different than seeing on photos. Do not take the horses as cost of these is a rip off. Golf cars are available for older people or if you like to get to the treasury quickly but walking is recommended. Amazing place! The best in Petra for sure. We came here in late morning and it was perfect, not too crowded. Would definitely come back, just amazing! Famous part of Petra. Naturally very beautiful and packed with people as well.
Many have seen this via movies, documentaries, or maybe even a video game, but nothing prepares for clearing the final steps of the Siq (the narrow canyon leading to the Treasury) and seeing it in person. Standing in front of it, taking it all in, appreciating that it was carved from the top down, and the long history is so much more meaningful than any other exposure you may have had before arriving. Experience is different than seeing on photos. Do not take the horses as cost of these is a rip off. Petra, an ancient city carved into the red mountain rocks 2000 years ago by the Nabataeans, is a remarkable World Heritage Site in Jordan. It features palaces, temples, tombs and stables that were carved from soft sandstone cliffs. The city can be accessed through Wadi Musa town which serves as an accommodation and transport hub. A well-preserved site atop Jebel Madbah known as Petras High Places is accessible via steps signposted near the Theatre.

Truly a wonder of the ancient world, and the principal cultural treasure of the Kingdon of Jordan. It's worth the trip.
We spent a day there and only saw the things on the main path. There are many other sites off the main trail. We could have spent two or three days exploring it all.
We should have got our admission tickets at the airport when we obtained our visas.
Don't forget Little Petra - if you have the time.
Water, sunblock, a hat, and good shoes are a must.
You can pay to be driven/carried all the way to the Monastery.
So many vendors. In some places they ruined the atmosphere of it. But they have a right to be there - It's their home. Just don't buy anything from children.

I took a buggy the second day as it helped me time wise to visit the monastery and get further and quicker. Make sure you have good walking shoes, hat 👒, sun protection, and water. START FROM THE BACK ENTRANCE!! Ask your hotel and they will arrange the ride to the back gate. Obviously you can read many of the reviews. Petra is beautiful. It’s a once in a lifetime place to see beautiful and gorgeous heritage sight. Moving on from that you need to know it’s about a 6 to 8 hour walk or hike, uphill, and downhill. When you start from the back entrance, you see the first and essentially hike downhill to the Petra main entrance which is the Petra visitor center. By starting at the back, you save yourself the walk back from the monastery to the entrance. You can thank me later. Another positive of starting from the back entrance is that essentially you are going downhill after about a 2 to 3 km uphill that you need to do for the monastery. Have fun and good luck 🤞🏽

A voyage into the rich history of trade route. The exquisite carvings on the natural rock mountains are a testimony of the rich ancient history, culture, traditions, arts ,crafts and taste. Indulge your self in the rich history of Nabataean Kingdom. The place will certainly provide you a unique experience.Definitely a wonder of the world.
The Monastery is an ancient spiritual site built in 3 B.C. as a Nabataean tomb, situated within the larger historical landmark of Petra. Visitors to Petra should not miss exploring The Monastery along with the famous Siq, Treasury, Theatre and Royal Tombs. A hike from Little Petra to The Monastery is recommended, which offers beautiful views on the way up. From there visitors can navigate their way back to the Treasury through the Siq.
The Monastery is the next best structure after the Treasury. It’s quite a hike up. I’m in decent shape and I’d call it a moderate + hike. Incredibly enough there are people selling souvenirs and even cold drinks all along the way. You can stop and rest and get something cold to drink. At the top there is a shop that sells snacks and drinks. There are benches and you can sit and admire the view. I’d recommend the hike. Take your time and enjoy the scenery.

Absolutely stunning, well worth the hike and distance! So happy we went all the way as it’s breathtaking. You will not regret.
Once you get there, there’s a couple of stores for you to take a break, get food, snacks and drinks, and after you can continue with the walk to go right to the top and get an even better panorama view.

Really cool place to go but the hike there during a hot day is very difficult. Lots of stairs. So beware of that! Still loved going there as this is a very interesting construction and place. You re very high and you can see a lot of things around.

After an strenuous hike up Petra's Ad-Deir trail in the intense desert sun, we rounded a bend in the path and suddenly saw it - The Monastery!
We were awed by the sheer size, not to mention the intricate columns and sculptures influenced by ancient Greek architecture. The amount of work amount of work required to construct this massive undertaking was overwhelming.
We felt the Monastery's grandeur was worth every step and breath to witness as we felt like modern explorers. What a reward and culmination of our trip to Petra!
Jonathan — Google review
It is quite a hike to get to the Monastery but definitely worth it, it is not long but the hike is going up and it's quite steep and definitely takes it out of you
But when you have made the hike you are rewarded with this breathtaking view of the Monastery there is a little cafe there where you can sit and take in views and have a well earned drink of something to eat
Would definitely try to do this earlier in the day when the sun is not so hot ,cause imagine it would be hell trying to do this in 30 plus degree heat
It is huge and still so well preserved just
Another place that has too be seen and visit on a trip in Jordan

The Monastery stands after a whooping 700 steps walk under the sun in the morning and with some shades on the second part of the climb in the afternoon. While meeting a lot of people on the way up and down it is not crowed. We walked with our 11,13 and 15 years old and it was just fine. The Monastery is an amazing building even though you can only see the outside!!!

We went early in the morning with no stops on our second day to petra and it was tiring but achievable. Plenty of shoes that sell cold beverages if you need. Less crowded than the treasury. It has a nice cave and you can take beautiful photos. It also has a rock where u can lay down relax and enjoy the view while the treasury didn't have a god viewpoint even though we did the trail up the hills.
Anna Maria Sotiraki — Google review
Hiking to the Monastery is a great experience if you have the time. It’s not easy, but it was worth the effort to see this part of Petra. The Monastery is much bigger than the Treasury and quite impressive to stand in front of.
Don’t ride the donkey. If you can’t walk yourself, then don’t go.
Sarinah Mastor — Google review
About 3.5 mile hike up 800-900 steps from the valley, but so worth the effort. The Monetary was built mid-first century AD. There is a back way to get to the Monetary, far less effort and distance to cover, but, you have to have a way to get there. There are donkeys that will be offered, this would be a personal choice, I know they are covered pack animals, but I am not convinced that includes human weight on this type of path.
Erik Oppenneer — Google review
I recommend taking the back route so you can start off with the monastery before going to the treasury and avoiding the grueling 800 uphill steps. You can pay for a jeep 4x4 from little Petra to take you to the back entrance to start. After about a moderate 3 miles or so, you’ll start to see the monastery. There’s a nice cafe with food and snacks right there. However, They were charging 1JD to use the toilet. Otherwise, very pleasant and not as chaotic as the treasury.
Helene — Google review
Taking about 30 minutes from the Colonnaded street, we reach the Monastery. The path going up to the Monastery can be challenging, especially when you encounter driven mules going up and down the path.
However the end result is well worth the effort.
Adie Klein — Google review
We took the back trail to the Monastery. Loved it. The Monastery is one of Petra's main attractions. It's worth the climb any way you get there. Great photo opportunity. We saw an Insta-girl go through her preparations, get photographed by a friend at a most advantageous position for a few minutes, then leave.
You can get a nice overhead view by climbing to the coffee shop.
Nathan Jensen — Google review
Well. This is not as spectacular as the treasury but I would still visit it for the small hour long trek (easy trekking but not recommended for elders or with disability). The route offers spectacular views if deep gorges. And the result is not bad. The monastery has a cleaner and complete look. The stone color is different. And you can enjoy staring at it from the shop in front.

Incredible and absolutely massive. I was able to do the hike 4 1/2 months pregnant and 18M post hip operation without any trouble. Big incline but everything is pretty easy steps and plenty of places to rest along the way. We came for sunset and were one of maybe 10 tourists the entire time, thanks to our local Bedouin guide.

Absolutely stunning.
The hike was worth, the views are fantastic.
When i ended up reaching this place there was Hardly any people.
Petra is not just the treasury which is 40 mins walk to visitor center, I encourage everyone if possible must visit the Monastery as well, it is worth, it’s is beautiful.

Ok, I will give you that the idea of 900 steps is a bit daunting, especially in 25°C+ heat, BUT - MY GODDD, the view is worth it.
I took breaks, plenty of them. There were so many stunning spots to enjoy the view, get snap happy, and also to catch your breath.
Some of the steps are uneven, but it's not a race so take your time and watch your step. Bring a hat, a bottle of water and wear good shoes - I did the whole day at Petra in walking sandals with no regrets.
This is definitely accomplishable by all and I would definitely recommend it!
Roshal Patel — Google review
You won’t be disappointed- absolute must to walk the 850 steps up for the view. Don’t take a donkey. Once at top there are a couple more vantage points from higher elevations.
Ron Webb — Google review
This is where the journey should begin. The Monastery has a lot of underrated viewpoints unlike The Treasury where they closed some of the hiking trails in order to avoid a lot of tourists.
It is recommended to take a photo on the pea shaped rock and there are some higher spots to visit to just be careful going up and down as it was surrounded by stones and rocks around.
Fredric John — Google review
Signaling the end of Petra is the Monastery, this is quite a long way from the start to get to but it is worth it. Also there are not too many people that make it out this far so it’s not so crowded. We got there and there was still some shade on the right side so it’s a good place to take a quick rest after hiking all the way over. Lots of nice photos spots but we liked the big rock that was a little further away, like 150 meters and took nice photos from there. Amazing architecture and magnificent building!
Josh Baltazar — Google review
Totally worth the walk up all the stairs. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and take water and snacks as it’s a long walk from the entrance. It’s about an hour from the treasury without rest stops. We didn’t have time to sit down for a drink and enjoy the view as we were rushed as part of a tour group but have a full day in Petra so you can enjoy the beautiful sights without rushing.
Photos include the walk up to and views along the way.

Captured from an elevated vantage point, the scene is nothing short of spectacular, offering a panoramic view of the monastery and its remarkable Roman craftsmanship against the backdrop of Petra's natural wonders.

Definitely a “Must-do” on your visit to Petra.
We had planned to take the back route into the Monastery but it was closed because of heavy rains.
I was dreading the long climb up after reading about the 700-900 steps up but it was actually not bad at all. In fact, the walk up to the Place of High Sacrifice the previous day was much harder.
Take your time and enjoy the walk!
Michelle Hayes — Google review
This is another amazing building of Petra, not as well-known as The Treasury, but about twice the size. It's a challenging walk, up 950 steps, to see The Monastery, and there are many stalls and shops on the way, selling food, drink, and souvenirs. Loads of cats to stroke on the way, too. At the top, aside from The Monastery, there are a few shops selling sandwiches, drinks (including 0% beer, which was nice), and snacks.
Wadi Rum Protected Area is a stunning natural environment, known for its breathtaking red-rock desert landscape that was the backdrop for the film "Lawrence of Arabia". The area offers a range of activities such as climbing and camping in traditional Bedouin tents. During the day, visitors can admire the silent panorama, while at night they can enjoy peace and tranquility under a sky full of stars. Wadi Rum also provides tours by Jeep, Camel or on foot to showcase its incredible sights.
Wadi Rum is one of the most dramatic landscapes in the world. During the day it is a tremendous, silent, breathtaking panorama. During the night it is a place of tranquility and peace under the dark sky as the flames of the campfire mixe with all the desert stars. Nowhere do the stars shine as brightly as in Wadi Rum. Our tours aim to help you experience the wonders of our ancient Desert home. We offer tours by Jeep, Camel and on foot of the incredible sights of Wadi Rum. Come try traditional Bedouin cuisine and spend the overnight stay right in the Desert surrounded by peacefulness and stars.

The food was excellent especially the grilled chicken which was cooked under the earth on desert sand. The jeep trekking was excellent. The rum balloon camp was excellent room for nice bed and toilets.

Wadi Rum is a fantastic place where there are charming golden sands, rocks and huge mountains. It is said that its nature resembles Mars, but Wadi Rum remains the more beautiful. There are wonderful and very generous Bedouins. You can spend there a good time in the bubble hotel.

A desert hiker's paradise!
Amazing park! The hiking points are absolutely breathtaking.
Advise: lots of water! Comfortable hiking wear and lots of sunscreen and hats!
WC points are also limited so best to prepare!
Easiest hiking trail points are about one and half hour to two hours. We spent the whole day at Timna Park. Won't advise you to go there if you are in a hurry.

Important: This place is huge, the ticket is for 3 days because doing it all in 1 day is very hard. it contains many places that are very far away from one another so you drive from one place to the other by car. You can also do it on bicycle if you wish (I saw bicycles for rent including electric ones). If you are really brave you can do a lot of hiking here. Be very prepared to be protected against the sun - sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, long sleeve clothes and tons of water.
This place is what you dream about when you think about a desert. You can easily forget you are in israel and imagine you are on mars or some other deserted planet of your liking. We went only to 2 points so we didn't actually see much but our breath was definitely taken away by this alien place. The photos don't really show it, you must come to feel and see.

It spans 40 kilometers in length and 6 miles in width, boasting a unique mountainous terrain with diverse colors and shapes. This natural wonder offers stunning landscapes that are perfect for hiking, biking, or simply enjoying the silence of the desert. The starry nights are also a spectacle to behold. The Mizpe Ramon crater is the closest most of us will ever get to feel like we are exploring another planet. It's a surreal geologic experience. Taking a four wheel drive in late afternoon is a must do. If you are in Israel you need to do this crater. It's easy to get to by taking a train to Bersheeva and then a bus to the small town of Mizpe Ramon. We spent 2 nights in a hotel on the rim so had plenty of opportunity to photograph sunrise, sunset, and moonrise. The hotel had a grand all you can eat breakfast.

The Makhtesh Ramon in the highlands of Israel’s Negev. It’s the area in the south where Moses and the Hebrews wandered for 40 years before entering the Promised Land. The sheer cliffs are fitting metaphors for two turning points in this very wilderness—one for Israel and one for Moses. The Lord told Moses to speak to a rock and water would flow for the people. But Moses’ anger toward the people’s unbelief got the best of him. Instead of speaking to the rock, Moses struck the rock—as he had successfully done before (Num. 20:11). God graciously provided water, in spite of Moses’ actions. However, God also rebuked Moses because his “unbelief” put a ding in the Lord’s reputation. Ironically, Moses had called the people “rebels” before he struck the rock, and the Lord later told Moses that he also had “rebelled” in striking the rock (Num. 27:14). As a result, Moses was not allowed to enter the Promised Land. How essential that we look at the panorama of our future not with eyes of fear—but of faith.

8.28.17 - We only drove through the crater and that alone was pretty cool. However, the views from the road heading down into the crater from the Israeli side is inspiring.
The nature center is very informative and the rangers are relatively nice, but it might take a little bit of effort to warm them up. There are nature trails you can take, but make sure you arrive early enough otherwise it can be a dangerous path where you can fall off the edge or run into a family of goats/rams (something we saw).

Looking like a surreal place from a Science Fiction movie, the Makhtesh Ramon is an extraordinary nature sight in an otherwise quite boring surrounding. You can eather take a stroll along the crater's edge or take a hike through the Makhtesh. Make sure to visit the Infocenter before in order to get hints regarding hiking routes. Also be sure to start early in the morning as it tends to get very hot already before noon.

I've camped out in this Makhtesh twice, and it only gets better with every trip. There plenty of options around the desert area to do before you pitch a tent at night. For example, you could bike ride, camel ride, or go on spectacular breath-taking (literally) hikes! If you want to go straight into the night, there is a night activity I highly recommend which is called SOLO. This is where you walk in a secluded part of the desert at night and sit under the stars for at least 20 minutes. No electricity what so ever (except your flashlight to see where you're going but when you're sitting...lights off!). It's absolutely something to try. Seeing the many stars at night illuminate the sky and the moon shining on them all, is an enlightening experience.

Makhtesh Ramon Crater is situated in 30 minutes drive from Avdat National Park.
*Even though Makhtesh Ramon means "Ramon crater" in Hebrew, it is not the crater from meteorite, nor from volcanic eruption. It is the world's largest natural "erosion crater" .
*Hundreds of millions of years ago, the Negev desert was covered by an ocean. Due to tectotic movements the ocean started to move to the north, leaving behind a steep cliff.
*There is only one settlement in the Ramon crater area, the small town of Mitzpe Ramon. Its name means "the viewpoint over Ramon crater" & it suits it very well since you may see this amazing sunrises over the crater right from the edge of the town!
*There are no “working hours” of Ramon Crater, but there is a Visitors center, as well as several restaurants & hotels around so you can stay here for a night to enjoy the desert, the sunset & the sunrise in this magic place!
Dolphin Reef is a protected beach in Eilat with abundant shade trees and a resident pod of bottlenose dolphins. Visitors can enjoy lounging on floating piers or taking a guided tour of the dolphins' habitat. Contact with the dolphins is strictly prohibited.
Fun, scuba diving swim alongside dolphins. Clean beach. Environmentally-conscious, and animal- care-conscious place. Wonderful, knowledgeable and professional guides.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. We do end up here every time we come to Eilat and I like that the dolphins are free to come and go as they please BUT it’s very expensive and crowded. You just catch short glimpses of the dolphins (true it’s because they aren’t penned in which is a good thing). All of the activities cost extra and the prices are extremely high. I dunno, it’s only a so/so experience. We’ve had a much better time at some of the free beaches. The food is typical beach food with typical beach prices although I will say the Greek salad I had for lunch was quite tasty. I guess I would say, this doesn’t need to go on your Must Do list but if you’re out of activities and you need a few hours to kill, this isn’t terrible.

Absolutely loved it! The dolphins were so cute and the entrance was gorgeous! Defenitatly recommend if you are coming to Eilat. I would recommend to come early in the morning if you want to choose a good spot to spend the rest of the day. Suchhh a beautifull place to watch dolphinsss, the dolphins are free to wander in the ocean which beautifully symbolized how free they are and just how they love their care takers enough to come back all the time to hang around us! Beuaitufl resort right next to a very aesthethic looking wooden structure with a sight and a bar and places to sit every where on, on the wooden water floating structure u also get great and beautiful ocean views and can see the dolphins in the big circle! Before the wooden structures there's of course a beach u can chill in and just wander around shops and soveniers 💕✨

Small beach with expensive entrance fee with a little to see (compared to other Eilat beaches) with independent snorkeling.
The "swim with dolphins" which costs a little short of 300 nis left me with mixed feelings: The dolphins are impressive and the guides are very nice, but how much of a dolphin you are going to see is based on luck. Additionally the system is built as if you are an evil moron who visited the sea for the first time: you swim holding hands, no diving, no cameras allowed.

There are peacocks freely walking around, which is exciting for the kids. There's even an albino peacock.

Wow!! So much to do and Beautifully designed. Lots of trees and shade. The bar was a little over priced for what it gives, and there aren't other options there. My personal guide was sweet and patient. The corals were stunning, and the dolphins were sweet and friendly

Every time we are in Eilat we go to this place, the best still and ever.
Actually we were there every day, not a problem as we slept at the Yam Suf Hotel, only a 5 minute walk to there.
1. the beach is incredibly looked after
2. The Reserve guards are watching all the time for trespassers so very little chance something bad could happen to you while swimming
3. and of course the corals and the fish.
Yes the coral are less beautiful than in the previous years, the mini tsunami a few years ago did damage the reef, but still they are interesting and the fish are till there and still super beautiful.

If you don't swim it is still nice to look on the fish and corals from the pier. There are lockers with USB charging stations, and the place is very relaxing.

Very beautiful there is a free version which is quite crowded, but if you pay a little you get a clean, beautiful and not crowded at all beach. The fish and coral are incredible and I was particularly impressed with how careful the lifeguards were with the wildlife. Would definitely go again

Enough shade, showers and toilets clean, free cold drinking water, can rent snorkel equipment and protected area to swim, with extra area for kids. Beautiful place. Must go there, better then public beaches and only 35 shekel per adult or 18 shekel up to age 18.

We had a lovely day out here. It was February, so out of season and not too busy. Lots of beautiful sea life up close in enormous tanks. Also, a very nice undersea viewing room and a sub trip if you want. Loads of facilities and other interesting things to see..... Lovely and we'll worth a visit 😀

One of the good beaches in Eilat
Clean, had toilet, shop, walk route, bridge directly to Red see with excitement view of corals, different fish types
It's needed some payment, check possible options before coming there
It's better come with your own equipment
Pay attention - NO SAFE GUARDS

Amazing place! Make sure you take snorkels! For 35 shekel, the place offers quite an experience! A long stretch of white sand, beautiful reefs to snorkel and pretty secure!
The Underwater Observatory Park in Eilat is a huge aquarium complex with an observatory that takes you under the water to see the reef and the fish and coral. The highlight of the aquarium is the Coral World Underwater Observatory, which has two large display halls that descend 12 meters below the surface of the Red Sea.
Wonderful. From walking through the lively coral reef to the 3D cinema which is unlike any other I have witnessed. The screen goes above the head so that it can be protected from any point in the room and looks like the whole is above you.
It is also not all inside, you can take a nice walk in the sun between the different sections of the aquarium .
Does not compare to the London aquarium in the slightest.

We’ve been to aquariums all over the world and this isn’t the glossiest or the most high tech. But my kids love it and beg to come back every time we are in Eilat. There’s lots of different things to do that keep everyone entertained and you cannot beat seeing fish in their actual habitat. We love this charming little place. The 3-D movie was a huge hit!

This place is a must see for young and old.
It is a beautifully maintained park, with a big variety of coral. The underwater observatory is absolutely amazing. The water of the red see is also accommodating the coral beautifully.
The aqua dome is also an experience like none other. The whole is turned into a 3D video and it literally feels like you are under the ocean and touching the sea life yourself.
The shark pool is amazing to visit during feeding time as there are divers who get in and feed them.
It is really a world to visit and enjoy every second. There is lots of souvenir shops and also restaurants. And obviously what is better than a nice-cream on a hot day in a wonderful place 🙂

A real fun place for kids, but also for the sea animal lovers. We had a guided tour and it was perfect and well explained. I enjoyed every bit of it. I would have enjoyed more if the glasses were a bit cleaner. Nevertheless, it was fun.
PS: The 3D movie was cherry on the top

Excellent location. mainly for mothers. impossible not to spend less than 3 hours here. 3D movie, view of the aquarium with shark, place to see the corals, place for well organized meals, super kind attendants, and a restaurant also available for lunch. Ticket price around $100,00 dollars, for a couple. Child accompanied by an adult up to 5 years old is free.

For a Two-Two and a half hours of attraction you will find with the kids lots of wonderful creatures. Sharks, stingray, different kinds of fish, you can add a short 3d movie to watch for an half a hour. The kids loved it and we are sure to come again

Great place to visit. Easy to get to by bus from Eilat. You can buy tickets online or at the gate. The exhibits are lovely.. sharks, stingrays, corals, turtles, octopi, fish. Climb the observatory to the top to see great views of the Red Sea.. then go below sea level to view coral and fish. Try and avoid Jewish / school holidays is it gets very busy. The 3D movie was an extra .. it was not so good.
Avdat National Park is a historical attraction that features the ruins of a Nabataean city dating back to 3rd century BCE. Situated on a hilltop along the old Incense Route, it serves as a reminder of the area's rich history. The park offers various paths for visitors, though walking the whole way may require preparation for a 6km walk back to one's car.
An interesting archaeological site. Integrates with the landscape. Exciting in the historical context. nice stop on the way to Eilat. 360 degree view of the surrounding desert.

Truly magnificent Nabatean fortress with layers of ancient history. There is a parking up on the hill to save you from all the climbing. For that, you need to get a one-time parking ticket at the ticket office for free. There is no water pipes on top of the hill, so it’s important to pack enough water with you, especially in the summer. All the picnic tables and bathroom is at the entrance to the park (no benches or bathroom on top, of course). Great place to visit with kids.
Peggy Hadassah Mizrahi — Google review
Very interesting archeological site. Those anchient Naabatiens were crazy dudes, making wine in the middle of the desert. The site is well maintained and very interesting. It can get very hot/cold so try to visit during transitional seasons.

Various lengths and difficulties to go depending on who's traveling. Beautiful and serene atmosphere and the animals are barely afraid of humans so taking pictures of them and their babies is a delight.
Do mine that entering the water is forbidden, thankfully, and you can see the improvement in the condition of the place since this restriction was put in place.
If you plan to go the whole way rather than turning back prepare for to walk back to your car (some 6km). If you can, have a car wait at the end or maybe join another group with a car.

Amazing natural valley and cliff that are all peculiar in this region. It is indeed quite incredible to find water channels in the middle of the desert, but just the same as around the dead sea, there are plenty of springs in the the Negev. The best to go there autumn to winter when the weather is just fine. Even in summer it's still that bad because you will reach the cliff almost by car, from the parking place you will walk less than a km (800m).
Nestled in a picturesque setting, Castle Zaman is a remarkable slow-food restaurant that promises an unforgettable experience. The stunning infinity pool and delectable cuisine make it a perfect choice for a romantic getaway or simply unwinding amidst breathtaking scenery. With its medieval charm and attentive staff, this hidden gem offers exceptional hospitality. Guests rave about the delicious flavors of the food and the impressive selection of beverages, from refreshing smoothies to a full bar.
Magic place with amazing good food and nice service. Only a group of young upper-class people wich created a bad atmosphere with endless discussions about the very transparent rules for using the pool. My admiration went to the superior owner for her friendly patience towards the very disruptive guests.
Katrin Hinz — Google review
The location is really nice and the view is awesome, hence the 2 stars. But if you are a vegetarian, I cannot recommend this place at all. Its highly overpriced for the meal you get (there is only one vegetarian option which was 80 % rice and a little bit of vegetables) which was 45 euros without any drinks, starter or dessert. Me and my vegetarian friends were extremely disappointed, because given the price the dish was just ridiculous. My friends who ate meat liked it a bit better, but also not in the range what you would expect if you pay 45 euros for one dish in Egypt. If you don't care about money and love a beautiful location and view, then this might be the perfect place for you.

The Blue Hole, situated on a reef 8km north of Dahab in Egypt is a famous diving location. It is essentially a large sinkhole that drops down to incredible depths, making it suitable for experienced technical divers. For those who prefer to stay closer to the surface, there are still plenty of marine creatures to observe around the outer rim. Jumping into the hole from its edge provides an experience similar to skydiving.
One of the most beautiful places in the world for diving and snorkeling.

Try hiking the mountains next to the fast boat meeting point. The view is magical up there.
Taking a fast boat to Abu Galoum from here is very unorganized, its not safe for pregnant women, children or anyone with back problems.
It costs EGP 120 per person for two-way trip to Abu Galoum excluding car rides.
Passant Effat — Google review
Honestly not worth visiting. Diving at lighthouse in Dahab is much better. The Blue hole is so big and steep, that cannot even see the complete hole unless you have a drone. The beach is just rocks and the place is stressful and just has bunch of big restaurants - a real tourist trap unless you are diving.
You can take a taxi/truck from or to Dahab for something like 100 EGP, or a boat to Abu Gulum for 50 EGP. But usually it is visited as part of a snorkeling trip.
Sebastian — Google review
Just before the boats to Abu Galoum, there are some wooden posts: that's the bells. Here you can enter for snorkeling/diving to the Blue Hole, without destroying the reef, as there is a mini-canyon. When you look down, it's really deep right away, its great. From here you can follow the reef up to where it slopes down, where you go over the reef into the blue hole, which you can exit at the stairs. The reef here is probably even nicer than the actual blue hole.

It is a place where you should start your blue hole snorkeling trip from.
It also has the fast boats which take you to abu Galom.
The current is hight sometimes so you have to take care while snorkeling there.

Saint Catherine's Monastery is an ancient Greek Orthodox monastery that houses a library of ancient manuscripts, a church adorned with icons and a picturesque garden. It was founded in AD 330 by Byzantine empress Helena who built a small chapel and fortified refuge for local hermits beside the burning bush from which God spoke to Moses. It is regarded as one of the oldest continuously functioning monastic communities in the world.
It's one of the important Christian religious sites in South Sinai and Egypt.
It's a very good experience to be there and see the 3 religions side by side in the same place, Jewish, Christianity and Islam.
It's a very important trip if you go with a tour guide to let you know the historical importance of the place and how it contributes to the Egyptian religion history

This historic religious site is a unique special "Must See" site for any traveler to the Sinai. Visitors should arrive there early enough as it opened its doors for visitors between 9:00-11:30am daily except Fridays and Sundays. The Monastery houses the 2nd largest manuscripts library second to none but the Vatican library. Simply fantastic

From Dahab, our journey to St. Catherine's Monastery on the Sinai Peninsula was nothing short of magical. The transfer service was seamless, setting the tone for an extraordinary day. As we stepped into the grounds of the monastery, we were immediately enveloped in an aura of tranquility and historical significance.
The monastery houses an impressive collection of relics that left us in awe, each piece telling a story of faith and history. One of the highlights of our trip was the climb up Mount Sinai. To enhance our experience, we hired a local Bedouin guide for 650 Egyptian Pounds. His expertise not only enriched our understanding of the place but also ensured a safe and enjoyable hike. The path he took us on was both challenging and exhilarating, offering breathtaking views at every turn. The most surreal moment came at sunset.
As we descended, the psychedelic effect of the changing colors was mesmerizing. The rocks transformed under the setting sun, creating a kaleidoscope of hues that seemed almost otherworldly. This visual spectacle was a fitting end to a day filled with spiritual and cultural enrichment. In summary, our visit to St. Catherine's Monastery was a five-star experience. It was a perfect blend of spiritual discovery, historical exploration, and natural beauty.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Dahab and looking for an unforgettable excursion.

It is a long drive from Sharm Al-Sheik, so if you aren't into long drives you can skip it. I did it on a tour and it was interesting but not as interesting as other Egyptian monasteries. It was pretty, but I was disappointed that I couldn't see the whole monastery or any monks. You can also check out the monastery on your way to hike Mount Sinai. The highlights were seeing Moses Well and where he saw the Burning Bush. As a Christian it was really interesting. If you are really religious you will love the chapel, I didn't take any pics there because I feel it is disrespectful.

Very nice place. The hike to mount Sinai is totally worth it, you may want to get there to see the sunrise, is magical. Just take into account that it will be a little cold on the top so take a jacket or something. We started walking around 3am and got to the top around 4.30 am. Check the sunrise time and be on top about an hour before to see how the mountains start to appear before you. I also recommend to take some food, even tough there are some Coffe shops there, you can only get chips and coffe, not much. If you don't want to walk, you can take a camel ride to nearly the top (might have to do the stair part on foot, about 1 km), but is super uncomfortable, I won't recommend it.

The majestic Monastery of Sinai is a UNESCO World Heritage site for its unique importance in the traditions of Christrianity, Islam and Judaism. The trip was an awesome experience. We chose the night walk to see the sunrise on top of the Mount Sinai. The trip started at 10PM with a 2 hour bus drive from Dahab to the monastery. From there the driver organised the entrance fee for the group. The walk starts from 1500m up to the top of the Mount Sinai at 2290m. The walk can be challenging for some people because you climb in total darkness, so bring good shoes, your own torches or headlamps. You can also do most of the way with a Camel ride. Bear in mind that the Camel will not go up the 758 final stayrs. And by the way I highly recommend warm clothes (November), take enough water and snacks. If you don't, no problem there are some shelters along the way where you can buy water and snacks. We organised the trip very briefly through our Hotel. The costs are 25 dollars per person which includes the transportation (up to 2h drive one way), entrance fee for the site of the Monastery and the climb with a guide of the Mount Sinai.

Jabal Mousa, also known as Mt Sinai, is a biodiverse nature reserve that boasts of archaeological ruins. It holds great significance for Christians, Muslims and Jews alike, who believe that Moses received the Ten Commandments from God at its summit. The mountain's scenic beauty makes it an easy climb offering glimpses into biblical times for pilgrims. Jabal Mousa is situated in southern Sinai's high mountain region which adds to its magnificence.
Should be labeled more clearly for such an iconic location but this is what comes up when search for Mt Sinai. The Mt Sinai Greek Orthodox Chapel is the correct location of the top of the mountain so will review that also to hopefully make it more prominent in search results.
This was a wonderful trip!! We did not want to do the all night hike with tour groups out of Sharm so we hired our own taxi and spent the night in St Catherine. Wonderful!!

I visited Mount Sinai in December 2019. I started the hike after midnight to arrive at the mountaintop a few hours before the sunrise to secure a good spot for the sunrise view. As the first light pierced through the darkness, the layers of mountains shrouded in the mist emerged in front of me. The perfectly round sun disc appeared moments later, making it the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen in my entire life. The mountainous landscape around Mount Sinai was also very unique and exotic. It was definitely one of the most memorable trips I experienced.

The Best experience of this trip. More than five stars. I would definitely climb the mount if I visit again. Took 3 hours of climb but the views and the spiritual attributes of the Mount summit made it worth. I got to the top before sunset and watched the sun go down behind the mountains of Sinai!! On my way down I watched the moon rise behind the peaks and it was spectacular !!

This was a pilgrimage at the top of the mountain where Moses is said to have received the 10 commandments. The journey is long and rewarding. All parts of my patience and resilience were tested. The most difficult part was climbing the last 700 steps but we made it to the top of the mountain for the rewarding sunrise at 6am and back down the mountain.
It's very cold at the top, you'll question all the layers you prepared for the trip

I found it little challenging due to lack of rest and intense travel, and took around 2 hours with multiple rests, but doable in 1.5 hours if you have decent fitness level and rested. I don’t know whether Moses received the 10 commandments in this place or somewhere else in Saudi, but I can tell the trek is pleasant and the view from the top is splendid.
The massive drawback is the lack of care from the responsible of the site and the total disrespect from lots of visitors throwing their trash everywhere.
Plastic bottle, bags, cans,… are paving your way to the sacred mount.
Shame on you Guys!!
SIMPLE SOLUTION: FORBID VISITOR TO ENTER WITH SINGLE-USE PLASTIC.
The parks, such as the World’s End in Sri Lanka, which implemented this rule preserve the nature of their site and generate sustainable revenue at almost no cost.

Unique experience! You get to see where Moses prayed for 40 days and nights as well as Elijah Basin.
You can rent a camel for 25$ and do 2/3 of the trail. Once it gets very steep you must do it on foot (be careful, it's a bit slippery). Food and drink are available every 10/15 min as well as bathrooms. It feels a bit like in the Himalayas.
You reach 2285 m of hiking once you reach the top. I hiked from 2 a.m. until 5 a.m. to get the sunrise at 6:30 a.m.
The Bedouin guides are only paid 15 Egyptian lira which is nothing. Try to leave a tip for them (bakshish )
