This is my second time visiting Talay Bua Daeng, anytime it’s a different experience. Even though the flowers weren’t in full bloom yet during my most recent late November visit, The lake was beautiful and rich with amazing birds. The sunrise was spectacular I could’ve been out on the lake all day just watching as it changed with the hour.
Ron Lussier — Google review
Wow... The lake is nearly 1 hour drive south east of Udon Thani and definitely worth the visit. A 1.5hr cruise on the lake for 2 people was THB500 and definitely good value. You must get there before 8:00am as the lotus' start to close arounf 9ish in the heat. These photos were taken in early June but our boat driver said the best time to visit is around New Year then you get 3x the number of lotus flowering.

Lake Kumphawapi is definitely one of the beautiful places I have visited in Thailand! I have never seen anything like it before. I have seen lotuses and water lilies in ponds and in clusters in lakes but in here, the entire lake is covered with it and the lake is massive.
When we arrived, we thought there were no lotus and its off season because theres no bloom at the docks, only the tiny green floating baby lotus plant. We rented a small boat since there's only 2 of us and our boatman took us to the lake itself with endless of pink, red and a few white lotus flowers in full bloom. There's a lot of different kinds of birds, most of them we have seen for the first time. Our boatman took us to some spots with really beautiful views for photos and turned the engine off. It was so serene hearing only the birds tweeting and surrounded by beautiful flowers and occasional cool breeze.
We cant get over this place even after we left, we spoke of it at the cafes and revisited our pictures and videos! A must see in Udon Thani!

Wonderful experience. We had a very patient driver who stopped many times and allowed us to see everything without rush. Beautiful lotus and also so many birds -amazing! Loved the experience. Rented larger boat to be able to sit to each other. Rather cold at sunrise we had jumpers on but socks and / or a fleece blanket would have been nice 👍🏻 wrap up 😀 highly recommended tour. Small boat for 2 is 300 THB larger boat for up to 6 people is 500 THB.

Don't come in the afternoon or when it get very hot.
The lotus blossom will close up as the day get hotter. Come in the morning to see these beautiful lotus blossom.

Amazing experience, beautiful and calm. Important that the flowers open between 7 am and 11 am, to go after you will see only the lake and nothing else. Flowers only from december till february.

Amazing view of red lotus lake. definitely should go in the morning or you will be scorched. The boat costs 500 baht for 4 people. Not too expensive for me.
Iori Nozaki — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous. We went mid December so the flowers stayed open longer. Plan to go early morning, even in winter. The flowers begin to close as they warm in the sun.
The boat driver was kind and patient. Lasted about an hour. Boat could comfortably fit a party of 7.

I went here today early around 6.50 am. If you can go for the sunrise it would be awesome I think we just missed it. We took the boat for 2 people 150 per person. The driver helped with some nice photos. This is one of those places in the world that photos don't do justice. It's absolutely beautiful and a must do if in Udon Thani or nearby. November to February is the season to go.

Visit here around 10 am in the middle of Feb
Cool in the morning but a bit hot under the sunlight
500 baht per boat (loading for 6 people)
There're lotus for you to snap but would be more in Dec - Jan
Lots of bird to watch and many spot to take photos

One of most beautiful places you can visit if you are a nature lover like me. Millions of Lotus flowers around you, birds following the boat, a temple in the middle of the lake... Go early and only in the flower season December to end of February.
George Garcia — Google review
What a Wonderful experience. Just make sure you be there at least at 8.30 AM before most of the buses arrive. Lotus flower time is from November Till end of February.
Julia Scheuerer — Google review
You can go at sunrise but the lotus flowers are not full open in bloom. I were there at 930 at a weekday very quiet and so beautiful! 11000 acres of lotus flowers in bloom. I took a private big boat 500bth and the boat men made a lot of nice pictures for me :)

It is a 40 mins drive from Udon Thani Town. A boat for 6 persons is 500 Baht for 90 mins. The lily is in the middle of the lake and takes about 10 mins to reach.
The boat will stop for you to take pictures and admire the beautiful water lily. It is so tranquil with only the chipping of the water birds.
Do come early in the morning to enjoy the full bloom of the water lily.

ทะเลบัวแดง is the absolute BEST thing you can do in Thailand if you’re here during December-February. The lotuses do start to close up midday, so it’s been to be here around 6am so you can watch the sun come up and watch the lilies open. Absolutely other-worldly stunning!
Mak Harris — Google review
Beautiful place to visit, we went out on the lake early December which was early in the season but already there were lots and lots of flowers. We stayed near the lake at Bua Daeng Homestay Resort which also has lotus in the ponds which are lit up at night with floodlights so we already saw them the night before. We plan to go out on the lake again in January when the flowers will be at their peak.
Phu Foi Lom National Park is an expansive ecotourism destination designed to preserve rare flora and fauna. Visitors can wander through vibrant gardens, explore various trails, and admire picturesque landscapes. The park also features dinosaur statues and offers picnic areas. While the visitor center may be closed, the park provides a free and accessible retreat from urban life. Located near Khon Kaen and Udon Thani, it offers easy access for a day trip or weekend getaway.
I couldn't believe this place was free to visit, the only negative was the visitor centre was closed and no information or leaflets available to provide a plan of the area.
The signposted viewpoint is actually not the best viewpoint; carry on up the road from the main site to find the best views.
There is a Caffè and Toilets in the Park. I think many Thai people come for the beautiful flowers and to have their photos taken with the flowers.
It looks like you can camp for free on the site, could see an office where you would pay.
Miles Macdonald — Google review
I love this park. Up in the mountains the weather is so fresh, love the vibe and the multiple open spaces. You can even go and camp with family, friends, etc. Great place to take the kids and your pets!

Beautiful gardens
This is one of the many places you can incorporate into a day trip around the Udon Thani area.
Probably an hours drive from town and is about 600m above sea level.
The garden areas are not massive but there's enough there to be worth a visit.
The arrangements are very nice and colourful. The place is kept tidy and clean.
Maybe a morning visit would better as in the afternoon it's quite hot and not as enjoyable.
Frank T — Google review
One of my favourite places not too far away from civilization - easy to reach from Khon Kaen and Udon Thani. Free entrance which these days is a rare find. A convenient drive up to the National park station and good paths up the mountain not too difficult even for the elderly, yet still natural. The temperature up on the mountain tends to be much cooler than down in the plains even though it isn't really that high at just some 600+ meters.

Khon Kaen Zoo
Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Animals from all over the world feature at this large zoo with transportation & a gift shop.
Under the circumstances with COVID there wasn’t many people when we went and the live attraction shows went on but at least we got to have the day to ourselves and have fun and see the animals the kids loved it we got to ride around in a golf cart that we hired which saved us from walking
Big Boy — Google review
Lots of animals. For 50 baht you can get food to feed the giraffes, elephants and deer (and sometimes other animals, but we were there in off season). Small water park. Bouldering is also available. You can rent a crash pad from a place right outside the zoo for 250 baht/day.
Emily Berlin — Google review
So today decided to go to the Zoo for a day out with the wife. I saw the star ratings and read a few reviews and that was it...we were on our way.
The place was quite easy to find and would have been a reasonably quick trip however seemingly every major highway is under construction here in the kingdom.
The zoo entrance and parking area is quite impressive and it is easy to find your way around.
The park is huge so they have shuttle services constantly circling the park dropping people and picking up from 10 stop points that have a particular group of "like" animals in various habitats.
There are a number of petting areas for the kids and many different animals to check out. I loved the fully enclosed aviary that you can walk through with various cool birds just walking around amongst the tourists.
Hippos, big cats, alligators, birds, great apes and various monkey species are just some of the animals you can view here.
The habitats are pretty clean, spacious with efforts made to recreate a more natural environment for the animals which I appreciated.
Getting around the park is quite easy. As mentioned you can take one of the multi seat shuttles 8 rows of 4 seats per row (that are never filled to capacity) as they have a fleet of least 8 shuttles circumnavigating the park constantly. Hop on when you want get off where you want...quite convenient really.
The cost is 30 baht per person.
If you want you can also rent your own golf cart (you drive it) which can carry up to 6 persons but be careful. The road ways are winding with a number of substantial hills. I saw 4 carts stopped on the hill and abandoned when they just didn't have enough oooomph left in the batteries for the final leg. Also they are so slow that you can easily burn up your rental time just trying to get your cart to go up the hills faster than you could lightly jog especially with a full load of 6 persons. 4 max trust me on this one :)
The price for the cart is 300 baht per hour.
The park entrance fee is 150 baht for foreigners per person.
Due to covid a number of exhibits and shows were not open but all in all it was still a nice day.
4 stars due the covid closures but I would consider bumping it during full operation.
Oh and PS.
There are many shaded areas at each of the ten zones with beverages and toilets at many.
JP Canada — Google review
The first time I visited here about 5 years ago, I was pleasantly surprised at how many animals there were, and how healthy they looked. It was a really great experience. I returned a couple years ago and there were less animals, and the habitats looked less vibrant, but it was still enjoyable. I visited about three weeks ago and it will be the last visit. My daughter even said she doesn't want to come back. There are now even fewer animals, and many exhibits are closed or "under renovation" with no sign of any work being done. The bears especially did not look well and two of them seemed to have a very uncomfortable skin condition.
Michael W — Google review
Huge area with different attractions. On a high skywalk you can watch giraffes, zebras and ostriches. Kids can feed giraffes and elephants (20THB/portion). There's also a water park.
Harry Voca — Google review
parents and kids can enjoy the khon kaen zoo where animals have huge habitats and are well cared for. great place to learn and see these amazing animals.
William Mitchell — Google review
The place is about 7-8 kilometers from the highway. The entrance has local food, grilled chicken and papaya salad for you to try.
Go inside the place looks old. The entrance fee for Thai people is 100 baht for adults, 20 baht for elementary school children, there is a golf rental fee of 300 per hour, a tram ride is 30 baht for adults, 15 baht for children.
There are not as many animals as before. The place is dilapidated, lack of improvement, clean bathrooms, good service staff. Quick service inquiry
Esther Jichaya — Google review
More than triple the price for people with white skin and now the buses are not free 80 baht each for thai adults and 40 baht for Thai children the whole place is a complete rip off the animals are in small enclosures seems really unfair. For the amount of money they charge the place should look nice but it looks terrible.
All the adult rides were not working in the waterpark so why charge 350 baht for white people it's very racist for what so I can lay on my own towel with no sunbed surely charging 350 baht you can afford to buy some sunbeds , no wonder I was the only westerner here and I certainly will not be coming back khon kaen zoo and scampark
Jim G — Google review
One of the best zoos I have ever seen, and certainly much better than the Bronx Zoo or the one in Washington, DC. They really put a lot of effort into recreating each animal's natural habitat and giving them as much space as possible. I love that you can rent a golf cart and drive around at your own pace.
Adam Rogers — Google review
We heard about this place from some friends and were not disappointed. It’s easy to get to. We found Google now takes you straight to the entrance. The layout of the zoo is in animal areas linked by short roadways. So they offer options of renting your own buggy or jumping on and off the regular open sided mini bus. We opted for the minibus as it meant no “backtracking” to collect the buggy after walking through an area. The whole day was pleasantly spent and made easy to handle the heat due to the well located, reasonably priced, snack areas scattered through the park. Definitely on our re-visit list!
Nik Bailey — Google review
We rented a golf cart to tour the zoo. I don’t know if you can just walk in, but it looks like you need to take a tram to the main area.
Pretty good overall, but seems a bit old. Some areas we drove through were closed down/abandoned.
Kayne Walker — Google review
The staff is helpful, friendly and polite. The animals have big enclosures. We got there at around mid day for the visit and it was very hot so most of the animals were hiding in the shade and sleeping so I definitely recommend a early morning visit.
Ban Khok Sanga, also known as King Cobra Village, is situated amidst paddy fields and renowned for its snake shows performed at Wat Si Thanma temple and various other venues. During these shows, handlers engage in a thrilling dance with cobras and other types of snakes. Besides breeding king cobras, the locals produce and market conventional herbal remedies. The village comprises a few simple al fresco eateries serving authentic snacks and rice-based meals.

Khon Kaen walking street is a vibrant market that offers a more relaxed and authentic Thai-style shopping experience compared to other touristy markets. The festive atmosphere is enhanced by Chinese lanterns adorning the entire market, where local sellers offer handmade items like photo frames, t-shirts, handbags, and postcards. The market features separate zones for consumer products and seasonal food, with fair prices and a diverse range of goods.

Wat Nong Wang (วัดหนองแวง) is Khon Kaen city’s biggest, most important temple, and also its one must-see tourist attraction. It was founded in 1789, the same year the city was settled, though there are no old buildings left. It became a royal temple in 1984. About 55 monks and 225 novices live here.
It’s ordinary in most regards, except for the stunning nine-story Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon, a stupa unlike any other in Thailand. Many of the links below take you to other articles explaining the art in detail.
Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon
The ground floor is open 6am-5pm and floors 2-9 are open 8am-4.30pm.
Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon stupa was built to celebrate both the king’s golden jubilee (celebration of 50 years on the throne) and the two hundredth birthday of Khon Kaen city. It is 50m long on the side and 80m tall and has nine floors because he was King Rama 9. Construction was started in 1990 and it was inaugurated in 1996.
The idea for the stupa came from the highly respected Luang Paw Koon Kantigo, the then abbot. The design was inspired by the Eiffel Tower and the Shwedagon Pagoda, both of which he saw while travelling. The most important of the abbot’s ideas, however, is the stupa’s curved shape, chosen to be that made by a hanging fishing net – called a catenary curve in physics.
People’s ashes are kept in the stupas at each of the four corners and the naga-topped wall around the stupa. Before construction, when this area was still rice field, a naga came to tell a high-ranking monk in a dream that there was a naga breathing hole where the stupa was going to be built. So, the stupa was built about 10m from the original intended location and these naga were incorporated into the design.
The shape of the top part of the stupa was inspired by Phra That Kham Kaen stupa (notice the redented corners) north of the city and has a golden-colored vine pattern similar to that on the very important Phra That Phanom stupa in Nakhon Phanom province.
Ground Floor
The temple’s center of activity is the stupa’s ground floor, which has a Buddha relic inside a chamber with a nine-spired roof. Next to it is a life-like resin statue of Luang Paw Koon Kantigo, the previous abbot (Unusual, because these are normally made after an abbot has died, but this one was put here many years before.), and in the back is a copy of the Chinnarat Buddha (from Phitsanulok); two copies of Phra Kaew (the Emerald Buddha), one green and one orange; and a baby Buddha. They are facing west, rather than the usual east, because the original Chinnarat Buddha also faces west.
Along the northern wall is a table with 108 alms bowls (for donating 108 coins) and another full of daily Buddhas. The number 108 was important in ancient India and so it is found in many Buddhist stories, most importantly the 108 signs of perfection to show that he was the Buddha – this is also why there are often 108 symbols on the soles of many large Buddha footprints.

One of my favourite Temples in Thailand and definitely in the city of Khon Kaen. This Temple is a Khon Kaen land mark and tourist destination. It hosts 9 levels each with artworks, artefacts, shrines, and information much like a museum. Each level represents the ascension to enlightenment and there is a 360 degree view of the surrounding city on every level. The ground floor is the main floor where locals come to greet the monks and pray. I really like this Temple because of its beautiful architecture and surrounding grounds, the view of the city from each level, the artworks, artefacts and information scattered all around. Artworks include paintings that depict traditional every day Thai life, correct behaviour as taught by the scriptures as well as the story of the life of the The Buddha carved into the doors and window shutters. It is easy to spend a whole day here getting lost wandering around discovering new area's while viewing the surrounding city from one of the best vantage points in Khon Kaen.

The main Temple of Khonkaen called Wat - Nong - Wang (in Thai). There is 9 floor with closely pyramid shape. All decoration is very Thai, which beautiful, charming and richy by the golden colour of gold. The activity is walk around the floor then step up to the top of temple. The location is beside of kaennakorn swamp that very massive impress by the top view from the top of Nongwang temple.

It is worth a visit. it's about 45km from Khon Kean. It's a small ruin, so you can walk around it in half an hour or spend 2 hours just taking in the tranquil beauty of the buildings.
Prasat Puei Noi or “Phra That Ku Thong” is the largest historical site in the region. In the Khon Kean Province, it is more than 800 years old. It is assumed that it was built between the 11th and 12th centuries. Combining the Khmer arts of Bapuan and Angkor Wat. To be used as a place of worship for performing rituals.
According to Hindu (Brahmin) beliefs, the plan is Mount Meru. which is considered the axis of the universe, which is the dwelling place of the gods called "Sasana Banphot," in front of which the main prang's crypt is carved.
It is a Nagarat shape with a beautiful pattern. The lintel is carved with the image of Narayana Banthomsin. which is still in good viewing condition, complete there is also the Kachalakshmi lintel considered that this is the only place that faces west, (all other buildings face east) and the door is closed. This is different from the general religious place in front of the gopura, and there is a door to pass through for good fortune.
There is no entrance fee, and there was no one else viewing.

There is no cost to enter. It is in the middle of a grass field next to a pond. Very tranquil location there was a mother and her young boys who left shortly after we arrived so we had the place to ourselves. Very glad we made the effort to get here. The huge holy sacred banyan tree with incredible scene under the its shade. Shady and feeling cool. There are many shrines inside this place. A little market at the entrance. But overall environment is not good at all. There are many garbages, polluted pond and weird bad smell. A lot of free parking lot.

350 year old banyan tree not fast from the historical park. If you have a spare hour or 2 in Phimai it’s worth a visit but wouldn’t go out of the way to come here. It’s very cool and peaceful. Lots of picnic tables and chairs to sit under the tree and relax. There are also a few vendors selling food, souvenirs and fish to release into the water.
The Phimai Historical Park is a rectangular temple complex filled with intricate carvings and stone sculptures. It is an impressive Khmer ruin located in Thailand, known for its grand scale and detailed designs. Built as a Mahayana Buddhist temple, it features carvings of Hindu deities and design elements similar to those found in Angkor Wat.
This place was stunning!
I remain amazed - after visiting ancient ruins in other countries - how much of this complex was accessible to the public. There’s not really anything off limits, and only the normal rules binding visitors to decency in a holy site.
The structures are all incredible, and the details truly ornate. Plan at least a couple of hours to wander and soak it all in.
There is a higher density of visitors here than some of the other sites we’ve visited, but for good reason.
It’s an amazing feat of human engineering, and something worth witnessing first-hand.

Impressive one. The old building is located in the center of city. All of them were built from stone that is always stunning me how effort they built them without any smart tools. No public transportation I saw only private cars.

This is a smaller version of the Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It is worth stopping at if you are in the area. I would take some water along as climbing up and down all the stairs "rocks" in the heat will make you thirsty. The stairs are not bad there are few steps but many stairs. It took us abount an hour and a half to walk it all. Take cash its 100 bht a person.

The wonderful Khmer cultural sanctuary. The largest ancient Khmer temple in Thailand. It was taken care of very well. The inside has beautiful scenery, clean and a lot of photography corners. A small museum in front of this place shows the history and the conservation of Phimai. Some of the entrance fees.

I really enjoyed my visit to Phimai Historical Park. The temple is a beautiful example of Khmer architecture and the carvings are simply stunning. It was fascinating to learn about the history of the park and the Khmer people.
I would recommend Phimai Historical Park to anyone interested in history, culture, or architecture. It is a truly impressive site that is well worth a visit.
Specific comments about your suggestions:
The parking is very limited. I would recommend parking at the main entrance and walking to the temple. The walk is about 10 minutes and is a great way to get a feel for the park.
The entrance fee is 20 baht per person for Thai nationals and 100 baht per person for foreigners.
The museum on site is a great place to learn more about the park and the Khmer people. It is well worth a visit if you have time.

Pretty impressive that there are these ruins in the middle of this small town. It's pretty small grounds but the structure and carvings on the ruins are very impressive. There's hardly any other tourists and it took us about an hour to go through. You need to dress modestly to get in.

This place was a fantastic view into the ancient temples of the Khmer Kingdom of the 11th and 12th century. Beautiful Hindu inspired artwork adorns the walls and vamanas of these ancient temples. A large area with beautiful park like settings . Be sure to check out the rear of the park where many old pieces of the the temples lay catalogued for possible replacement. Very hot climate so dress accordingly.

I traveled from Siem Reap, Cambodia to Surin to meet a friend from Switzerland. We traveled by public bus to visit Phimai temple. Phimai is a magnificent temple. It was previously an important city during the Khmer Empire era. Prasat Hin Phimai Temple, located in the center of the city, was one of the main Khmer temples in ancient Thailand, connected to Angkor by the ancient Khmer road and oriented towards Angkor as its cardinal direction.

Historical park, set in the town of Phimai (Prasat Hin Phimai) is definitely worth a visit. You can experience the remains of a Khmer style temple without having to leave Thailand. I have been to Angkor Wat (in Cambodia), and the similarities are amazing. This is considered the largest Khmer temple in all of Thailand.
The Wat Ban Rai is an elaborate and vibrant temple complex featuring a stunning elephant mosaic shrine situated in a man-made lake. The shrine is adorned with over 20 million pieces of enameled tiles, showcasing depictions from Buddhism's sacred texts. Visitors can climb to the rooftop where they will find statues of Buddha and Luang Pho Khun. The temple offers spiritual solace for all and provides easy access for visitors.
Beautiful architecture, sculptures, and paintings. The chapel building is in Thai traditional style with quite unique ceramic decoration on the outside. Its shrine is a very large elephant building decorated with ceramic mosaics, reminiscent of Gaudi style, starting with a 19-head nagas bridge. Within the shrine, several sculptures and paintings are there. Six large masterpiece paintings are on its first floor showing major events in Siddhartha Gautama's life and his ministry. This is a must-see if you come to Korat.

Spiritual place, easy to come to. 3 stories high, 1 story being underground, surrounded by pod and great landscape view from the top. Lifts did not though. Might be hard for older people to climb to the top by the stairs.

In the centre of a man made pond, stands an elephant-liked ceramic shrine alongside an, by no means ordinary, wat—or temple. The shrine is beautifully decorated with enameled tiles. On the roof top, to where you are able to walk up, are the statue of a walking Buddha and that of Luang Pho Khun. Surrounding the building one finds depictions of Buddhism's sacred texts. The shrine is Asia's largest ceramic mosaic shrine with more than 20 million pieces of mosaic.

Beautiful Buddhist temple tribute to the monk "Khoon" who led to develop this temple and neighborhood.
There are several buildings, they are museums.
There are a bunch of donation boxes around the area, and a lot of lottery sellers.
There is also a Gashapon for amulet coins in a building there.

A beautiful temple 🛕 and a beautiful place. In touch with today's modern world, and with the wisdom of the past. If you want, you can learn a lot in just one visit to this temple. To learn humility, respect, understanding and love. from the scene in the temple, you can also see the dangers of modern times. I wish everyone to find themselves. To live in the present. To understand their values and role in the earthly life. Love, peace, and understanding to everyone.

I have attempting to visit this temple for a few years now but various obstacles got in our way - including a pandemic I’m supposed to believe.
On arriving I was surprised to see very few tourists or Thai for that matter 🤔 maybe 6 cars in the large carpark.
As most places I am getting used to, there are more sellers of food and trinkets than there are customers - how do they survive ?
The temple museum was really interesting and nicely chilled so we wandered round quite slowly 👌 Unfortunately if you don’t have a Thai partner you won’t understand what is on display so pretty much makes the visit to the museum pointless. Strange that not a word of English anywhere- I understand I am the foreigner here but I’m just thinking of increasing visits perhaps.
Now to the main elephant temple itself - breathtaking to look at from the outside and plenty of photo opportunity- unfortunately of the 4 floors normally to be viewed only 1 was open today ( annoying) the staff were away on other duties I’m told. Anyway I live an hour away so I can return I suppose.
To summarize: It’s a great place to visit but phone first to check it’s all open 🙏🏻

The central square features an impressive statue of Khun Ying Mo, a legendary heroine who played a crucial role in liberating the country from invaders. Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo, also known as Korat Zoo, is a spacious 218-acre zoo that houses a wide variety of African animals. In addition to the animals, visitors can explore the reptile house and children's zoo while enjoying the beautiful gardens. The zoo also features a water park for those looking to cool off in the hot weather. Guests have several transportation options available to them including renting bikes or golf carts or taking a bus tour around the zoo.
A lot of animals, good for children taking studying animal life.

Good for a family visit, easy to navigate, and the animals appeared in good health. Enclosures were large for most animals, which was a relief to see, as animal welfare should be a priority at any zoo. The signage is in the native language, so not as foreign tourist friendly in that regard.

There are many animals and it is very spacious. There is a water park and there are small stores along the way when you look at all the animals. You can rent bikes and golf cart to ride in the zoo or you can buy tickets to go on the bus that will take you around the zoo. :)

A nice place to visit for a quick getaway from urban life. Most of the animals are housed in spacious enclosures instead of cages, with some enclosures allowing animals (like giraffes) to get close to the edge and interact with people. It's a bit more of an "open concept" concept" design compared to some other zoos around the world. Entry tickets are also quite affordable.
You can either make your way through the zoo on foot, rent a bicycle or rent a golf cart that accomodates a max of 4 people (driving license required for golf cart).
Do take note that there are very few sheltered areas, so you won't be able to escape the hot sun most of the time. Bring an umbrella in case it rains!

I've been to this zoo twice before but my holidaying visitors wanted to go so off we went
I am an Englishman with a Thai ID card and as I greeted the gate staff politely 🙏I was allowed to enter for Thai price 👍
I must say some improvements have been made especially to the toilets so a good start
We hire a golf buggy for 3 hours for 500baht and I'm sure that price has dropped 🙄
2 hours is not long enough but we had other plans later in the day
We watched the Tigers being fed and my family fed the giraffes and deer so they were happy
All in all a very nice few hours that could have stretched to 4 hrs easily
Worth a visit for sure 🙏

This zoo is a nice vacation spot especially for a family with young children who enjoy nature. The zoo is nicely spread out. If you love walking, it is enjoyable on foot, but with small children, you may want to use a stroller, or rent a bicycle to help you get around (from 20-70 bhat per bike depending on the type of bike you choose.) The zoo tram is another good option for getting around. It costs 20 bhat or less per person. They also have gulf carts you can rent, but those are 300 bhat per hour.
The seal show is enjoyable. It shows at 11 am and 2 pm. The trainers work very well with the animals. They also show a few others to start out. My kids (ages 3 and 5) both love the show!
If you are interested in learning about the snakes of the area, there is a nice display in air conditioning with many area snakes. It is a nice reprieve from the heat. These are right across from the seal show.
Monkeys are in natural areas with motes separating them from passers by. It is a nice, more natural setting.
There are also the normal animals at the zoo, lions, tigers, sun bears, giraffes, elephants, hippos, crocodile and kangaroos to name a few.
If you come in early July, you may be able to find some peacock feathers.
Jephthae Oren Calkins Campbell — Google review
Very nice spacious zoo. Paid Thai people price for tickets (we are not Thai), but the dual pricing is advertised on the ticket booth. We got there on a rainy afternoon, the place was quiet and breathy, enjoyed the weather a lot.
Renting a golf cart recommended (300 baht per hour). Tram and bicycles are available too.
Animals are well-kept, although some seemed a bit lonely. I hope the gorgeous African elephant will get a mate.

Great zoo! My daughter and I had alot of fun here. Rented a bike and cycled all over. Not like western zoos were everything is so strict! Were deer all over the place and the distance to the animals is much closer because there aren't as many fences between you and the animals. I really enjoyed this. Saw the seal performance as well, that was also interesting. You can get here for 8 bhat if you use the transport from kohert. Was crazy to only pay 8 bhat for the entire way..
Beautiful buildings in beautiful gardens. Well worth spending time to visit and absorb the atmosphere.

Paid 399 for 13 activities but did maybe less than 7/8. Flying fox was too slow but the view was ok, the luge had some horizontal road which you need to stand to push like a scooter, the skylift was nice with umbrellas when sunny, the log ride was one of the most fun for my boy, they also had the bumper boat with spray.
Others such as Rodeo didn’t look fun, VR equipment not sensitive didn’t work well, gold panning was ok but gave out little kid prizes like plastic guns to my big boy..
Elderly above 60, I think, do not need to pay and get to do the skylift. Rather fair. Or you could enter and have one activity for 249 baht, and pay extra for single activities at 200.
This place is more for teenagers. You can’t do ATV, go kart, four wheel vehicle under 18/12. My boy almost couldn’t do the luge too, but he was too big to sit with parent 😅 so they finally allowed him to go on his own.

The room my family and I stayed in was horrible. Location was not good for us at all. The park inside had poor activities, even my 8 year old child said it was boring. For breakfast, we had to drive to another location which was inconvenient. What made it worse was the food and service was horrible. A lot of people in the park on the weekend which causes too much waiting. This was a one time visit and not worth going back. Also, not worth the money spent at all.

- avoid to go there during raining season
- dust from soil road, mainly the zone is not cemented so dust from the ground mixing in the strong winds would make you feel dusty on your face and clothes.

such as the rose garden and pond could be done in classic English rose garden style with walkway to display the roses, border hedges of boxwood, use a classic geometric design of a rectangle divided in rose quarters, center fountain ect.
a Japanese style garden with a Koi pond would it's own destination. could do walkway bridges thru the pond to both view koi as well as show Japanese architecture, add Japanese maples, bonsai
if they did 8 or 10 areas it would be more of a destination than just a pleasant afternoon.
if staying for a weekend there is the national park close, korat zoo and several temples to see.

Pasak Chonlasit Dam is one of the longest earth-filled dams in Thailand, offering splendid scenic views and recreational activities. Visitors can explore the Pasak Basin museum, enjoy a train ride across the reservoir, go kayaking or boating, and even camp in designated areas. The dam area features shaded spots for relaxation, souvenir shops, food stalls offering Thai cuisine, and opportunities for picnicking and kite flying.
Very scenic. There is a history museum here as well.

A large Dam near Bangkok makes it easy to plan a one day trip.
There is an aquarium nearby with many fresh water fishes.
For sight seeing, there is a trolley line along the da ridge. 30 baht for adults and 10 for kids.
There is also a train rail at the water level when the dam is full capacity, up north about 20 minutes that's the place you must visit for a picture.

This is the view of Pasak Jolasid Dam from the further side down. There is a seasonal train ride from November to January every year where it would stop in the middle over the floating bridge and therefore the lovely photos posted below. As for the dam itself, it is quite chilling but not very well maintained. You can visit the small aquarium and museum to learn more about the dam. There are few vendors selling snacks and easy food such as papaya salad and grilled chicken, which you can rent a mattress for 20THB and find a spot to rest and eat.
They also offer mini train rides within the dam, explaining about the dam (30THB) but we didn't take it since we preferred to walk by ourselves.

Scenic dam near Khao Yai… if you in Lopburi or Saraburi this is place to experience… dam closes by 17:30 but you drive to place nearby named road corner to have camping and nice sun set views

When we went the water level was pretty low for monsoon season. It has a nice little park. Lots of locals cycling, running and picnicking. Fun for the quick check in photo but not much to actually see.

Nice view but it's quite hot here. The main road to the dam will be restricted for private vehicles until 4 PM. During day time, if you want to go inside this place, you need to buy ticket for the tourist tram.
The train will go along this dam only 2 time per day, so if you want see this moment (same like many beautiful photos on Google), you should check the time carefully.

It’s a pleasant place to visit, enjoy a great view and a long walk along the dam. They have a bicycle for rent and also your tractor that takes you along the dam. They also have a museum which you can visit.
Recommend you to visit between 4-6pm. Entrance is free and plenty of shops to buy souvenirs and food. You can bring along your pet as well.

It’s a good location to visit for a day trip.
Unfortunately the area seems to be not well kept, as certain pathways have overgrown grassroots.
Maybe we just visited it during the offseason 🤷🏻♂️ and the timing was bad.

A nice place to visit (when it's not drought season). There are snack stalls and a decent sized park to walk around in. Plenty of places to sit and maybe even lay down a mat for picnics or afternoon naps. It does get hot, so it is advisable to bring something to cool down during visits. A nice place for late afternoon walks. I believe there are rooms available for rent, and/or spaces to set up tents.

This dam is almost 3 decades. It is surprising that people still visit this place. You can do many things on your visit such as stay in the shaded parts and just feel the breeze of fresh air. You can also do shopping for souvenirs to give to your family and friends. Kids can enjoy flying kites while picnicking. No food? Don't worry! They have food shops and you can order different Thai food. There is a museum that gives the history of this dam. Then, the most exciting part is the tractor trip to the dam. It is not expensive for both Thais and foreigners. The trip takes about 30 minutes back and forth. At the other side of the dam is a temple and the tractor train stops for about 15 minutes to give time for Thai people to pray and for everyone to shop some souvenirs as well. This is a must to visit!!!
Upon arrival, despite the timing of closing, one still managed to appreciate the scenic environment and is considering a future visit for a more thorough exploration. There are numerous picturesque spots for photography enthusiasts and sufficient dining options available even after a long drive on the highways. The ranch known as Chokchai Farm offers an extensive array of agrotourism facilities coupled with various entertainment opportunities and food choices. Their homemade chocolate, cheese and fresh milk ice cream stands out as particularly impressive.
We had arrived just as everything was starting to close but still managed to enjoy some of the beautiful scenery around this place and will consider coming back to have a more detailed look around next time. There is alot of beautiful places to take photos here. It’s also a good place to stop after a long drive on the highways as there is places open to eat here. check out my YouTube The Travelling Social Worker

Farm Chokchai is fun and engaging especially if you have kids. We didn't do any of the tours and spent most of our time there just feeding the animals and taking pictures, which was perfectly OK for us. The farm has a 'free access' feel to it but was relatively empty with most of the stores closed when we visited. There were also quad bike and buggy rides on top of the tours and milking / feeding activities.

The atmosphere is very good. I've been there many times and especially during the winter, the weather is very nice. The food is delicious and there are many activities to do, with my favorite activity being driving an ATV. You can also go feed the animals or take photos, with space for running around and relaxing.

We believe this place is perfect and fun for families with young kids. Perhaps not for the hot days though. It's worth a visit to show your kids some friendly farm animals. You can drive yourself into the farm and enjoy it at your own pace. Anyway our kids enjoy milking a cow. The driveway in the Chokchai farm looks vast but there are only a few things to do. We wish there were more activities or animal enclosure more.

1st zone you can watch and play with sheep
2nd zone are flowers
3rd zone is cowboy station where you can watch cowboy show, pet show, play some games, rent ATV, try their milk and ice cream
And the last zone you may see the process of making milk and ice cream.
Also you can enjoy steak at their restaurants (Chokchai Steakhouse)

You can drive your own car across farm.
Nice things -
3 Tigers
Turtle
Sheeps
Horse and cows.
You can feed sheep's by buying 100b grass.
Also, old planes and fighter plane, jeeps are nice too.
Food -
Burger, ice cream shops. But I went nearby famous Thai restaurant which have vegetarian options available.

We and our son really enjoyed visiting the farm using the car and walking around.
The admission prices with the own car are 100 baht for each adult and 50 baht for the children.
All the attractions inside the farm space have to be paid separately, as well the food to feed the animals.
Funny the experience to feed the ship that come all around you trying to reach the grass you are holding.
I suggest to try the very nice ice cream that they make with the fresh milk produced in the farm, 52 bath for a cup of 85 g.
Then if like us, after walking around, visiting the museum and the small zoo you will get hungry, do not miss the Hamburger House or the Steak House.

Nestled about six miles east of PB Valley, GranMonte Vineyard and Winery is a must-visit for wine enthusiasts. This award-winning winery boasts a passion for winemaking and produces a variety of acclaimed wines from locally grown grapes such as Durif, Verdelho, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah.
Nice place, very beautiful view of the vineyards against the background of mountains with white clouds. There is a good wine shop with a selection of different local wine. You can taste wine before buying. Restaurant has a various menu of Thai and European food, very tasty pizza! We enjoyed our time here. Thank you.

Beautiful vineyard surrounded by mountains. They have their own restaurant(called VinCotto), cafe(Montino Cafe) and shop that offers variety of their wines, grape juice, jams, snacks and much more. Highlight here is their vineyard tour with wine testing which costs 450฿ per adult or 350฿ for children or people under the age of 20(for testing session will be given grape juice instead of wines). The tour will take you through their vineyard and wine making facilities and machinery. Narrator of the tour has great knowledge of the place and wine-making processes as she explained and answered customer’s questions along the tour. She was also very attentive and friendly. You’ll learn about growing, harvesting, processing and most things related to wine making from different types of grapes. At the end of the tour will be wine testing with 4 different wines and also a side dish which consists of cheeses, bread and olives. We really enjoyed the tour and would recommend to anyone who’s interested in wine or just want to have a nice unique experience! You can also taste their wines, juice and products without taking the tour if you’re interested.

No, we are not in the Toscana, Italy but in a beautiful valley north-east of Bangkok. The family owning the Vineyard has done a fantastic job! We arrived in the afternoon and after a very warm welcome haven been shown to our wonderful room (with a super bathroom) at the lodge. Instantly we decided to add a second night so we would have a full day to take the tour/wine tasting and simply enjoy the landscape. Breakfast was a hit – we went for the eggs Benedict 😉
The wines (and everything else) are Top International Standard – simply amazing 😊

Didn’t manage to come here for a meal as I’d just had my lunch at another winery, but stopped by this vineyard to take a look. No regrets as this is definitely a beautiful location, with its well maintained estate, and a good number of staff/ushers providing parking and direction assistance very politely.
Saw a number of guests whom were enjoying their wine and cheese experience seated in the middle of the vineyard - I have to say this is a very creative concept! It’s a place I’ll want to visit next time I’m back at Khao Yai.

A Delightful Journey Through Hill Country Wines
I recently had the pleasure of attending a wine tasting experience at GranMonte Winery, and I must say, it was an absolute delight. From the moment I stepped foot into the winery, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine passion for wine.
The ambiance of the tasting room was inviting, with its rustic charm and cozy seating areas. The knowledgeable staff members were more than happy to guide me through the tasting, sharing fascinating stories about each wine and the winemaking process. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and it made the experience all the more enjoyable.
The selection of wines available for tasting was impressive, showcasing the best of what the Hill Country region has to offer. From crisp whites to bold reds, every sip was a journey through the flavors and nuances of each varietal. The attention to detail in crafting these wines was evident, and I found myself appreciating the artistry behind each bottle.
What truly set this wine tasting apart was the personalized touch. The staff took the time to understand my preferences and tailor the tasting to my liking. They expertly paired the wines with delectable bites, enhancing the overall experience and allowing me to fully appreciate the flavors and aromas.
The highlight of the tasting was undoubtedly the staff's genuine passion for wine. Their knowledge and love for their craft shone through in every interaction, making the experience educational and engaging. I left the winery with a newfound appreciation for Hill Country wines and a desire to explore more of what this region has to offer.
In conclusion, my wine tasting experience at Hill Country Winery was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of outstanding wines, attentive staff, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere made for an unforgettable visit. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or simply looking to expand your palate, I highly recommend indulging in a tasting at Hill Country Winery. You won't be disappointed!

This place is so dreamy 😍
Who would’ve thought its just a 2.5 hours ride from Bangkok. With a beautiful scenery and cold breeze weather, being here felt like we were in a winery in Australia or Italy.
GranMonte is known as the best wine from South East Asia. If you want to know more about their wine, you can try their wine & cheese tour. Or stay a night at the hotel.
We came here in the afternoon to buy wine. We tasted all the wine options before choosing the right one. We are a Merlot lover, but surprisingly what we love most are the Rose not the bestseller. We also tried the dips and jams too, which is very good.
Save this place on your KhaoYai Trip. Either its for a lay-low wine afternoon while watching the scenery or start your noon with a wine & cheese tour.

You can drive through the beautiful vineyard if you take a tour, taste their award-winning wines, and buy their products at their shop. We got some very delicious sauces, jams and other products. You can also enjoy a farm-to-table dinner at their restaurant, VinCotto, with amazing views of the vineyard and the mountains. I had a very relaxing and refreshing escape from Bangkok for my BD.

We came to taste the wine , the ladies at the shops are super commercial and not friendly. If we want to taste the wine , we need to stand at counter , to sit down we need to pay for table. So we bought the Asoke 2,990 Baht and got a table. They serve with small wine glasses, quite disappointed but ok … why not. The wine taste gave strong alcohol taste before other taste and short in mouth.

**Review October 2023** - Beautiful vineyard and farm, the tour was great and the staff are very knowledgeable. The price of the tour is 450thb per adult, which is well worth it as you try many of their wines at the end.
I take away 1 star because the grapes are not in season during October. This is more of a seasonal timing issue (not really a knock on the vineyard itself).
Also, I think the wine bottle prices are a little bit high for locally made Thai wine. I think you can go to Makro or Tops and get imported wine from France, New Zealand, etc (of similar quality and same grape tree).

This is one of the best vineyard in south east asia I've been to. The vines are well maintain and in very good condition. Spectacular view of the mountain behind the vineyard give you great photos. They offer winery trip and wine tasting session but I didn't have time to try. Would arrange time for it next trip to Khao Yai.
I visited PB Valley Khaoyai Winery for lunch and a tour, which I found to be satisfactory without any flaws. Later, I had dinner and another tour at Monte Winery, where the difference between "good" and "great" was apparent. If you have to choose one winery to visit, I recommend Monte; however, both are unique in their own ways. The grape garden was beautiful to see alongside the wine-making process.
We joined the wine tour and tasting and had a good time. The tour is very interesting, and out of the 3 wines we tried out we liked one. The staff is very nice and they have an English tour. Beautiful scenery all around. We didn't eat there, but considering the very affordable cost of the tour and wine tasting (350B per person) I really recommend this place...

Had lunch and a tour here. Its good, nothing to fault. Then we had dinner and tour at Monte. Oh my, then you,ll see the difference between good vs great. If you only have choice of doing 1 of the winery- then i’ll recommend Monte. Otherwise do both, they are difference in each of their own.

did the tour and lunch. there’s 4 time slots for the vineyard tour daily, it’s about an hour. include a visit to the vineyard to see grapes, next to the winery where they make the wine and lastly the tasting. saw the black opal grapes, not the ones that are used for wine. very beautiful. the winery had a very strong wine smell, huge vats used to make wine. and we tasted 3 types of wine at the end.
simple lunch, just a main each and a drink.
Summer C — Google review
We booked the wine tour, which costs 350 bhat per person. They take you around the vineyard with a little cart, show you and explain the making of their 3 different wines, and then at the wine tasting 2 out of 3 wines are actually not local but Australian? I've never in my life been to a vineyard for wine tasting where completely other wines are served than what the winery makes themselves. If I wanted to taste Australian wine in Thailand, I would not go to a local vineyard for it... To top it off, we had not more than 15 minutes to just taste the wines in a rush, because we had to get back to the cart.
I also missed more interaction from the staff during the wine tasting. Questions about what we think, how we like it, and in general how satisfied we were with the tour.
After this experience, we were not in the mood to try the restaurant.

The PB Valley Winery tour priced at 350 baht per person for a factory visit and wine tasting left me feeling underwhelmed. While the experience wasn't particularly compelling, especially for the price, it failed to captivate me. Although the winery boasts scenic surroundings and a glimpse into the winemaking process, the value didn't match the cost. I believe a lower price point would make it more reasonable. Overall, the visit offered an average experience. For those seeking a more engaging and worthwhile wine tasting venture, exploring alternative options might be advisable.

Came here for the wine tour and tasting but was disappointing.
Staff knew little beyond her script and had little comparison between Thai wine and others.
The wine tasting was just limited to 1 glass of rosé, white and red each. Good that they offered cheese and crackers to pair. But little to learn and understand beyond their taste and type.
Perhaps the winery is just too small a scale to have a tour too comprehensive.
Did not try the food, so 5 stars for that.
The vineyard is also beautiful as seen in there pictures.

Khao Yai National Park, Thailand's oldest national park, is a favorite weekend getaway for Bangkok residents seeking cooler temperatures. The park is known for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, macaques, gibbons, and stunning hornbill species. Visitors can explore hiking and biking trails to discover the park's rich biodiversity and may spot rare bird species like Silver Pheasant and Eared Pitta.
Absolutely not to be missed! There is a lot of ground to cover, so allow a full day or more. You really need transport if you intend to see the whole park in one day. It's a great place to take children and the night safari is a must. Its beautiful in all weather, but be prepared and bring sensible layers and shoes.

I came in April, which is a dry month. Should have come sometime between November to January. When i was there around noon time, the animals are mostly sleeping. We saw some deer, monitor lizards, but no elephants and no monkeys. The national park itself is big and mountainous with some waterfalls. Again do not come in summer as the waterfalls are dry.

I have always wanted to go for the night safari and finally did at the end of March 2024. I booked the night safari truck in the afternoon at the visitor center and was told to standby at 6:30pm.
Our guide was looked like a student volunteer who only knew a few words in English. As the evening, fell we started our drive through the park.
However, I was rather disappointed. I did not have the expectation that the guide would explain too much about the park, as I knew this was not common in Thailand's national parks. The guide often just serves as someone who spots the animals simply by virtue of being there every day. However, this girl seems under experienced even in terms of animal spotting. We did see some sambar deers, a night jay, hedgehogs, a prairie-dog like animal and tons of monkeys and while any western visitor might be delighted, I have to say that as someone permanently living in South East Asia, these animals are not all that difficult to spot even in your own neighbourhood. At where I lived in Singapore, hornbills came to my window and I saw macaques every weekend when walking in the park.
I cannot help but compare the experience with Kui Buri, where it was far easier to spot elephants and guars were also aplenty. Of course having a knowledgeable guide who introduces the background of the park can always enrich experience. That was however not the case, and the experience was rather flat.

Visited 17nov 23.
All around fun.
Trail can be tough for elders.
Slipping can be often with wrong footwear.
Nice views from many areas of the park.
Due to higher section of mountain area, it's not too hot here for good trekking sesh.

It's an amazing park! It's so good that I'm shocked more people doesn't visit it, especially that it's relatively close to Bangkok. If you're on the fence whether to include this in your trip itinerary I'd say go for it. It's really worth it. I recommend tours with Greenleaf (they are budget friendly) which I personally arranged with More than Sleep hostel

Khao Yai National Park is worth to visit for the people who love nature and green scenery. Khao Yai is known as world heritage site because of its significant landscape and great and unique biodiversity. And also this national site is very first national park in Thailand with rich natural resources and unique wildlife. So that there is no doubt that there is best option for mammals watching.
Transportation is easy is easy to get there by bus, train and or private van. From the Bangkok (mo chit bus station), it takes almost 4 hours to get to the Khao Yai. The entrance fee of this park is 400 Bhat that is worth to spend it.At there, you can do camping, trekking, hiking and explore the nature. The one thing we must to do it, before you want to do trekking or hiking, you should report information Center. At there, the officers assist you the types of trails and do and don’t things. And also that they will give the map and experienced tour guides guide if you want.
The best season is winter with fresh and cool air.I recommend that if you want to spend your quality time with your loved ones, Khoa Yai national park is the must.if you want escaping from the city life, exploring the countryside( wildlife and waterfall)with fresh breeze, this national park is the best place to experience of full set of nature.
One more thing is the food. The food is not expensive as much that is between 50 to 100 bhat. You can try Thai style curry and fresh juices. One of the best food for me is fried potatoes that is very unique and delicious.
The last thing is the opening hour (6:00am to 6:00 pm) in everyday. But weekend can be busy with visitors so the weekdays is the must.

A brisk 2 hour drive from Bangkok takes you to the entrance of Khao Yai National Park. There are some amazing waterfalls, hikes and wildlife. It's hard to believe it's so close to Bangkok! And you might even have a true wild elephant walk out on the road to have some roadside snacks! That's certainly a traffic stopper!!!
Located in Khao Yai National Park, Haew Narok Waterfall is the largest and highest waterfall in the park. It consists of three tiers and is particularly popular during the rainy season. To reach the viewpoint for this beautiful cascade, visitors must walk approximately 1 kilometer from the main road. The waterfall stands at about 150 meters high and is known for its steepness and strong currents, which add an element of danger to its beauty.
One of the better waterfalls, at least for water drop and volume. Aside from the discriminatory and excessive 500 baht for foreigners to enter the park this is one of the better parks to visit, in part to see the waterfalls and the hike through a wet forest. The walk to the falls takes you down some steep stairs, but it is worth it. Definitely worth a visit, and but for the excessive fees I'd go again. In addition to the falls, just the ride through the park is very nice.

It's a very nice half day driving trip. Driving here will pass through most of the National Park and get great lookout views. Beware the aggressive monkeys at the carpark. Our chips got stolen from the car by one. Walking down the trail is easy. Coming back up is another story.... Take your time and enjoy the view.

The haew Narok waterfall is a transliteration of the valley of hell waterfall, and that name is tragically too apt, as about three years ago, over twenty elephants perished, (jumping down the ravine), in an effort to save one calf that had fallen.
As a tourist attraction, it's the leading one in Khao Yai.
It's free, there's a pleasant path of, I guess, 500m, ending in about four rather steep sets of steps which lead down to an observation area.
It's fairly impressive, about a 90m drop, I think, and is of course best viewed in the rainy season, albeit it falls all year...

It's difficult to imagine that is startlingly beautiful National Park is only 2 1/2 hours from Bangkok. It's well worth the entrance fee for foreigners of 400thb and there are even campgrounds if you want. If you go about 15 minutes outside the park there's more than enough hotels to satisfy every budget. Haew Narok waterfall has a well equiped parking area so you can grab a snack going in or coming out. Please be sure to pack out and trash as to not spoil this marvelous nature area.

No need tickets. We took abt 25 min to climb to the waterfall. Steps were v steep and narrow, not recommended for little kids. Otw up, there were monkeys to view and some smaller rivers to see. View at the waterfall was amazing!! Would highly recommend the hike up since it doesn’t take v long. Was a good workout!

A big waterfall to see.
Quite a long walk ...and a bit too steep for small children or old people. But the path is well built and well maintained.
The waterfall itself is big. You cannot go swimming at the pond down there, just to savour the scene.
Many parking spaces.

I recently visited Haew Narok Waterfall and it was a truly breathtaking experience! While it's a bit of a trek to get there - about a 15-minute walk from the entrance along a 1km path - the journey is well worth it.
The stairs to reach the waterfall base are quite steep, so it's important to be prepared and have some stamina. But once you arrive, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of this beautiful waterfall. Even though the water volume was not massive at the time of my visit, the waterfall was still a sight to behold.
The natural beauty of Haew Narok Waterfall is truly mesmerizing, and the sound of the cascading water is incredibly peaceful. It's the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and connect with nature.
Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Haew Narok Waterfall to anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful outdoor experience. Just make sure to bring comfortable shoes and be prepared for a bit of a workout on the stairs!

When visiting the Khao Yai National Park this Waterfall is an absolutely must. It takes about 30 minutes to walk through the wild nature, the walking road is an extremely well maintained trail pad. Along this pad you get all the educational information about the fauna and flora. The reward when arriving at the waterfall is one of the most beautiful sceneries you can imagine

Trail was easy to walk on, paved with steps. Hardest part was a steep staircase down to the viewing point, just take it slow. Waterfall was pretty, but likely not as impressive as it would be during rainy season or tail end of it.

Beautiful waterfall inside Khao Yai National Park. Closer to park entrance on Prachinburi side.
The waterfall was stunning especially after the rain.
Walking down and up the long stairs could be challenging. But it was worth the effort. Prepare to walk around 20 - 30 minutes each way with steep stairs.
Be careful of leeches especially around the wet area of the track.
Please help keep this beautiful clean by leaving no trash there.

Even though the deep and scary stairs step in the end of the walk way to the waterfall, but the view and most of the atmosphere is spectacular!!! Literally, not far away to walk. However, I would suggest you not to bring anything with you such as bag pack or any stuff that too much for a quick hiking.

One of the most spectacular natural sights we saw in Thailand. Definitely worth a visit. There is a bit of a hike to get to the waterfal (about 1 to 2 km) but mostly along a well maintained, paved path. There is a very steep staircase at the end, but any able bodied visitor should be able to manage it.

Wat Phra Phutthabat is an intricate temple from 1624, boasting a gilded tiered roof and columns. It contains a reputed footprint of Buddha and is situated atop a hill where visitors can find a cave with the Buddha statue. Additionally, there is also a Chinese Buddha where tourists toss coins into the statue's navel for good luck. The temple's spire was under renovation during our visit but the bustling market in front offered plenty of souvenirs to purchase.
A very beautiful buddhist temple. Next to it there is a Chinese Buddhist temple. Interestingly you can see the Thai & Chinese Buddha together with Hindi Elephant God. All coexist in a same temple. Gurss they can do it cos they are the higher beings whereas we are not.
There is a market opposite to browse local food.

Pra Prang Sam Yod is a renowned historic landmark located in Lopburi. It was built by the Khmer in the 13th century as a Buddhist temple using laterite and sandstone, and it features three linked towers. Although it was converted to Shiva worship, King Narai returned it to Buddhism in the 17th century.
Overrun with monkeys, so if you don’t like monkeys don’t bother to go. Love this place, better visit in the morning. The entrance guard will give you a stick for your safety. Some of these monkeys are very curious especially the young ones. The older monkeys are quite chill. You can go inside the temple, although there aren’t much to see inside. The monkeys are barred from going inside the temple

If you want to mess around with the Monkeys this old temple is a good place to visit.
The place is not well maintained but for the price of small entry fee it's worth it.
Plan on spending about 30 minutes here. it's not that big.
Tips:
Keep all your stuff tight was the monkeys would try to take it.
I wouldn't take very small children here as the monkeys can get a little aggressive.
Bring vegetable and fruit if you are looking to feed them. The will swarm you so keep it close.
For the most part the monkeys after the initial curiosity leaves you alone especially the adults.

Parking is done nearby the water at the roundabout and costs 50 Baht. Then its a small walk to the location. Careful though: it's an busy area and there are no crossings.
Lots of monkeys who are taken care of by caretakes. Although they are forward and will approach you they aren't aggressive.
Temple itself is nice and people are using it actively.

Definitely different. The monkeys OWN this part of town, much to the local shopkeepers chagrin. It is a pretty run-down part of the city. They climbed on our cars and at some point peeled up a couple of trim pieces on the hood. I just popped them back on.
I paid 50 baht to enter the fenced-in temple grounds. The fence is more for people as it doesn't hinder the passage of monkeys one bit.
Lots of baby monkeys that are really cute. I had one tug on my shoe, then run back to mom.
They give you a small bamboo stick with your paid admission, presumably to ward off over-curious primates. Never needed it as the pretty much ignored my.
I probably don't need to visit it again, but I don't regret stopping by.

My wife and I visited recently knowing what to expect, but still were surprised. Within 3 minutes of exiting my vehicle, I was mugged and robbed by a monkey. We learned a few things which will help all visitors. Keep all bags inside of a backpack. Especially plastic bags. If it is in your hand, it will be forcibly removed from your possession. Second tip. As you walk past the monkeys, or if they are stalking you, simply show them both of your open hands. As soon as they see they are empty, they will walk away and turn their attention elsewhere. Don’t get me wrong though, we had a lot of fun. Getting here can be an issue though as there were no tours out of Bangkok. We hired a private driver for the day who drove us there and back for 6,000 baht.

Enjoyable experience with the monkeys. They are everywhere. The entrance fee cost 50 thb for foreign and 10 thb for local visitors. We were each given a stick as a precaution against the monkeys. The monkeys were very well behaved, minding their own business, as we walked around the temple grounds. The young monkeys got curious and three of them worked together to pull away my son's stick. After their successful raid, the young monkeys threw the stick on the floor and walked away. Nice place to see the monkeys up close. We spend about 30 min here.

It was quite an experience to go there. There were a lot of monkeys around the place and they just did their own business. Once you pay for the ticket, staff will give you a stick, just carry it with you and you'll be fine with monkeys.
Most of them just did their things only 1 or two that might want to bother you so all u need to do is knock the stick on the floor as a sign that this is your boundary : Get Out!

Entry 10 baht for Thais 50 baht for foreigners. Entry comes with stick to fend off monkeys but pretty sure they've learnt not to fear them. Monkeys at the temple and around the One came and grabs the stick and needed to be swung off in the air. The inside of the temple has lots of (sleeping) bats and a strong smell. area overrun the town. Feeding monkeya is discouraged (despite the people calling you to sell food/ feed them) as it's what causes the monkey overpopulation problem in the old town.

Beautiful architecture surrounded by crowd of monkeys 😬 Entrance costs 50 TB for foreigners, with tickets you will also receive a stick for self defence from monkeys)) we didn’t use it, fortunately, but anyway. There were 2-3 stuff guys who controlled the situation with monkeys. Our experience was pretty calm and we felt more or less safe at this place, but maybe just because we did not came close to monkeys and didn’t try to communicate with them 🐒 You also can come inside the temple and see some ancient pieces, painted wooden ceiling with a bunch of bats))) and look closer to monkeys through the grating on the windows.

Love this place! Feed the monkeys yogurt. So good for healthy gut bacteria 🥰
If they climb on you, just pull and push em off when you get sick of them. If they bite you, you're probably gonna be fine. They're actually pretty well monitored, vaccinated, and neutered. But get a cheap rabies shot just in case, if you are bitten. Super easy in Thailand.
I got bit, didn't break the skin, didn't hurt. They're just naughty children mostly. SO CUTE!

This is a beautiful ancient temple with the added twist of being inhabited by a troop of monkeys (and some bats).
We entered and paid our admission, at which point we were handed sticks (just in case) and advised that we were allowed to enter the temple.
I’m always struck by the size and complexity of these structures, especially given their age. This one is not different.
As we wandered around and then within, we had many different interactions with our animal friends. We suffered no assaults or attempted robberies from our little friends, though I did observe them attack a guy on a scooter, causing him to fall over while on it. 😵💫
This was a really cool visit, and something I’m happy I was able to do!

The main sight for Lop Buri which is what you came for. A bit of a shock to find that it is quite small and in the middle of town.
You get a stick to hold which discourages the bolder monkeys but do not carry tempting plastic bags. We went near feeding time when many dashed off for easier pickings.
Otherwise you can also find them scattered about the nearby streets.

A small but important ancient site right by the train station. Upon buying the entrance ticket, you'll be offered a stick to ward of the monkeys, but you probably won't need it - the monkeys were very peaceful. The Khmer style temple can be explore in a matter of minutes; the real fun comes from watching the monkeys climb, play, and jump around the temple. The temple can be entered to get some shade or to get away from the monkeys. It was pretty quiet when I went on a Saturday morning, no other visitors. Staff and security guard are very friendly.

It's a great historical 700 years old temple right in the heart of lipburi city, which is approximately 150 killometers away from Bangkok.
The temple is still looking great despite it's old age and many long tailed monkeys climb on it all the time.
The temple is open to the public daily and entry for Thai people only 10 Bhatt and forginers is 50 Bhatt.
However, I advise all the visitors to lopburi, from my own experience, to be careful when you deal with the monkeys and hide your mobile phone, glasses, hats, and your bag from them because they can easily grab it from you and run away like a bullet.

The ancient remains of King Narai's Palace, constructed in the 17th century with assistance from French and Italian engineers, offer a sight to behold. The palace initially served to receive foreign dignitaries and includes elephant stables, storage buildings, wells, and banquet halls accessible via a well-maintained path. Within the 7-hectare historical site is an excellent museum that showcases temple artifacts rather than European ones.
It is well worth a visit to the museum and ruins of king Narai ancient palace. Peaceful and quiet. The park is well maintained and clean. The museum is air conditioned, well organized and quite educational. No parking inside the palace, though. So it’s a little problematic finding street parking near the place.

King Narai's palace, though in ruins,is now being showcase in a commemoration for the great ayutthaya king from 10 feb 2023. I managed to visit it on the eve of the opening day in the night. The crowd was thin, as the set up is still in progress. It was a memorable night out for photographers as many were there to soak in the glamorous lights. The thin crowd is the last ingredient to capture the splendor of the exhibits. The street food vendors surrounding the ruins of the palace were not in full house as well and it was great to be able to walk through and sampling the real thai food and korean fòod in thai style. Many thais were dressed in their traditional costume for the occasion and these costumes were also on sale along the street next to the complex. I heard that the bedroom of King Narai will be open for viewing as well. There were bamboo mats at certain locations placed for visitors to walk along. It the dressing up of the ruins that has brought out it's glory
