There were very few passers-by, I approached the car in which the girl was sitting, wanted to ask for directions - you won’t believe it, she frantically began to close the doors, even put her phone aside. Of course, she didn’t help me find this monument. So, this reaction from a resident of Ulyanovsk impressed me more!

It's a nice place for a quick visit, also because you can only have a look from the outside.
I was told there is a chance to see the small internal garden, but by the time I was there this was closed.
Next to the Volga River, perhaps during the summer it can offer a chance for a walk along the river bank.

Near the Kremlin there is a monument to Voivode Kozlovsky, the founder of the city of Syzran)
There is also a small church nearby; standing next to Kozlovsky you can see the golden dome of the Cathedral of the Syzran diocese))

(Translated by Google) A great place to relax from the hustle and bustle, and for walks both with and without children 😁 everything is in the same style, which cannot but please the eye! there are coffee shops, places to sit and eat, a large playground. Lots of benches. Beautiful view of the river. Along the embankment you can ride a scooter, roller skates, or bicycles. The embankment is a bit narrow, of course, but there weren’t many people, so pedestrians and cyclists calmly walked away/dispersed) we’ll definitely come here again. The only negative is the lack of a toilet. More precisely, it exists, but it was closed. It’s difficult for non-locals to run around nearby establishments in search of the right place)) on the way back home (150 km) I had to stop at the nearest gas station. But construction on the embankment itself continues, I think everything will be brought to fruition.

The Motherland Calls is a colossal statue situated in Volgograd, Russia, dedicated to honoring the country's war dead. It stands as the world's largest statue of a woman and attracts visitors from all over the globe. The surrounding area is filled with other impressive statues and monuments that make for great photo opportunities. It is recommended to visit during sunset due to the long walk required in the heat of the day, and it's best to start at the top and work your way down.
You can't put in words how beautiful this place is. It's an amazing memorial that you won't ever forget in your life. Even though I live in Chicago, this is the city I was born in. It was previously named Stalingrad and from what any history will tell you is that the battle of Stalingrad was most likely the bloodiest battle during World War II. The River Volga was running red with blood. Almost every building in the city was completely leveled to dust. This memorial is a commemoration to those millions of Russian who have died during World War II. Overall the whole place is beautiful in and of itself. And it has an amazing atmosphere you won't forget. The statue is said to be the tallest and most grand female statue in the world. Just standing under it and looking up will give you a sense of how small you are compared to it. All of the statues there and even the cathedral is a beautiful and eye opening place. I would definitely recommend visiting.

A great MUST Visit spot if you ever visited the city of Volgograd in Russia
The statue which is considered the biggest female statue in the world is in the center of the area which is full of other statues and other great things to see and have some lovely photos.
The spot is advised to be visited near sunset as its a long walk in the sun , and also best to do it to start it from up to down , not the other way round.

The grandiose monument at the top of the Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd leaves no one indifferent. Locals affectionately call him Mama, but the whole world knows the statue as "Motherland Calls!" She depicts a woman in fluttering clothes, holding a sword raised to the sky in her right hand. Appeal and rage are written on her face, her mouth is distorted with a cry, as if raising 35 thousand soldiers to attack from the memorial cemetery behind her. The creation of the outstanding Soviet sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich personifies the pain and glory of our people, delighting with strength and dynamism.
The statue is a very complex engineering facility, built of pre-stressed reinforced concrete using the same technology as the Ostankino TV tower, its builder N.V. Nikitin supervised the work here as well. The sculpture weighs 8000 tons, its height is 85 m, the 33-meter 14-ton sword is made of fluorinated steel. The interior space is divided into 11 floors connected by stairs. The tension of the 116 steel ropes pulling the statue down from the inside, and the vibration amplitude of the sword, are continuously monitored by sensors.

can we feel the scale of the tragedy and heroism of the Soviet people during the great Patriotic war? Mamaev Kurgan. the larks sing, it's like weeping over the grief of all mothers whose sons and daughters were devoted to their military duty. and it does not matter on which side the soldiers fought. they paid the most valuable-their lives. and let the descendants know, let them feel, let them cry. we thank you for our peace. for what we hear singing lark, for the sun and freedom, for life!

The sculpture is second to none. Being a work of a genius, it evokes a wide range of emotions. Currently is being renovated until April, 2020. But don't be sorry if you find the view a bit obstructed. Its enormous presence is still there. And this is the first time this sculpture is being renovated almost in a century, so consider it an opportunity to see it in a different way

Amazing statue with nice views over the Wolgadelta. The whole park is designed great. One can only imagine how hard this city got hit during 2nd World war. Wolgograd is worth visiting.
Mamayev Kurgan, once referred to as Hill 102 during the Battle of Stalingrad, was a site of intense fighting for four months in WWII. It has since been transformed into a memorial park dedicated to Soviet fighters who lost their lives in the battle. At the heart of this complex stands an impressive 72m-high statue of Mother Russia holding a sword that extends another 11m above her head.
This place is tremendous and memorable. It reflects every single bit of grief and sorrow. Not a place for fun at all though it's just breathtaking. Highly recommended to visit it during the dark hours, it's very well illuminated

Mamayev Kurgan is a hill in Volgograd named after Mamaya, famous Tatar khan who was buried here (Kurgan is a resting place in Tatar).
In more recent history this hill (among many other sites around) is famous for one of the most important battles in WWII, which changed the course of it in Europe.
There are several things to explore here, and I'll list them here and explain in a separate review. Count on at least 3 hours for a visit.
You can reach Mamayev Kurgan in 2 ways, depending if you want a more relaxed or more impressive approach.
More impressive is taking a taxi or speed tram that will take you to the hill foot, close to the Volga river, and then climb 200 steps (200 days lasted the battle). Climbing them the statue becomes bigger and bigger and you visit other monuments along the way - reflection pool, huge stone reliefs, Eternal flame and Hall of Glory,....Beware, this requires 200 steps uphill climb plus spaces in between them.
More relaxed means taking a taxi which will take you to the top of the hill where's the Motherland Calls statue, seeing it first and then descending downhill and seeing other attractions in the opposite way.
The complex is totally free to visit, and I suggest coming in the morning, as the sun is shining at the statue and whole complex then, so you will have better light on your pics. We were late afternoon and the sun was behind the statue.

Prospekt Imeni V.i. Lenina, Volgograd, Volgograd Oblast, Russia, 400005
The Mel'nitsa Gergardta is a significant historical brick steam mill in Volgograd that was destroyed during the Battle of Stalingrad in World War II. This monument serves as a symbol of the tremendous sacrifice and endurance of the Russian people who fought bravely against the Germans. The mill's story and history are remarkable, and it stands as a solemn and honored reminder of this crucial battle.
Photo from 1998. Extremely atmospheric. It is a shame that more of the ruins were not kept in their original state as a world heritage site. Still, it is very good. I look forward to when the crazy politics now between Russia and the West is forgotten and is just something in history.

As an American, I know that most Americans do not understand the horrors the Russian people endured to defeat the Germans in WWII. But if you go to Volgograd for no other reason than to see this place you will not be disappointed and you may begin to understand. The history and story of this mill is incredible, and the courage and endurance of the brave people who fought so hard is a cherished source of pride for the Russian people. And this was just one small part of the battle! Few of us, in our wildest imagination, can begin to understand what it must have been like. It is a solemn and honored monument. See it.

(Translated by Google) Before the war, there was a steam mill in the building that previously belonged to the German entrepreneur A. Gerhard.
Thanks to the fact that reinforced concrete structures were used during construction, the building was able to survive and withstand 58 days of siege, numerous hits from aerial bombs and shells. Literally every square meter of the outer walls is scarred by shells, bullets and shrapnel. The mill building was left purposefully unrestored as a reminder of the scale of destruction and horrors of the war. At night, the mill is unusually illuminated, as if illuminated by glare of fire and flashes of explosions, accompanied by the sounds of battle.

Located in Volgograd, the Volgograd Panorama Museum is a museum dedicated to military history and culture. The museum has an extensive collection of artifacts from throughout the war years, including tanks, planes, and equipment used by both sides. There are also informative exhibits about the history of warfare and Russian culture. The hotel near the museum offers comfortable apartments equipped with air conditioning and brand new appliances.
Definitely worth a visit when you are in town. Would take about 90-120 minutes for a proper visit. Many artifacts of war, as well as a nice animated description of the events happened. The panorama part is also pretty cool, especially if you have never seen a panorama museum before. The outdoor part right outside/behind is also a living museum, the ruined building and the famous fountain, as well as the train on the side.

This museum is set just by the ruined mill and the entrance is beneath it, from the Volga river promenade.
The museum layout is fantastic - spread over some 10 rooms clockwise depicting the WWII chronologically with an accent on the famous Stalingrad battle.
Apart many weapons, uniforms and personal items displayed, most interesting I found somewhere around the middle (room 5 or 6) a huge digitalized map with amazing computer animation about the battle.
At the top floor is a huge 360' diorama about the battle. Entry fee is symbolic - few Euros.

The Battle of Stalingrad Museum is one of the best in Volgograd and will require at least two hours, and preferably a good command of Russian to fully appreciare. Although there is an audio guide in various languages - which will give you a sense of the displays - the museum is so rich that you'd miss tons otherwise. Inexpensive to enter. Leave understanding the sacrifice and horrors of war.

The memorial park Voyenno-Memorial'noye Kladbishche Rossoshki is a remarkable place that commemorates the events that occurred many years ago. The proximity of the German and Russian memorials serves as a poignant reminder of the futility of war, where no one emerges victorious. It is highly recommended to visit this site and witness its power firsthand. Given the magnitude of tragedy witnessed at this location, there is a need for an even more imposing and significant tribute.
Vermist toen ie 32 was. Opgehaald en naar Stalingrad gestuurd. Nu, 76 jaar later staan wij hier. Onwijs emotioneel en mooi. Mission completed.

This was an amazing place of remembrance of what took place here so many years ago. The fact that the German and Russian memorials are directly across the street from each other goes to show how senseless war is and in the end, no one wins. (Translated by Google) I was very impressed by this memorial. Soviet soldiers, Romanian and German soldiers are buried. It is terrible to understand the number of fallen and the scale of that very battle. How many soldiers are missing?! Tears are welling up. I want to walk silently, look, study names and dates of birth and death. I have no words!!! Very quiet and peaceful place. Excavations are underway nearby. We saw many helmets with bullet holes found, and burials also take place every year. We saw bags with human remains. Very scary. And one main question is brewing - why fight?????

Volgograd, formerly Stalingrad, is a city in southwest Russia, on the western bank of the Volga River. It was the site of WWII’s Battle of Stalingrad, commemorated by a huge statue, The Motherland Calls, part of the hilltop Mamayev Kurgan memorial complex. The Panorama Museum has a 360-degree painting of the battle, as well as weapons and artifacts. To the south, a large arch marks the Lenin Volga-Don Shipping Canal.

A beautiful place to visit. The river, the amazing waterfalls, the whole environment is beautiful and amazing. It's also a great place to pick up some beautifully made local items: scarves, sweaters, gloves, and much more, which helps the local economy. The Kafe U Kurmana is an excellent and fascinating place to eat, built up against the rock wall. We got a couple of skewers of meat and some flatbread things; I forget what they were called. I heard some local people say the food was ordinary and a bit high priced, but we enjoyed it. (Translated by Google) On a hill, built from natural stone that was carried by hand from the banks of the Fiagdon River, the Fiagdon Monastery looks more like a monumental Byzantine castle than a quiet monastery of monks. Resting in enfilades against the rock, carried away by old watchtowers into the clouds, securely clinging to the domes of the monastery, the monastery is monumental, strict and seemingly impregnable, like a good fortress. Impressive stone walls, heavy forged bars, the huge space of the monastery, its location - everything looks absolutely right. The mountainous setting of the monastery from the huge terrace also seems particularly true; on the opposite slope a huge cross is built into the rock.
Inside the temple is in the woods, because the painting of the walls and ceiling is not yet finished; but rich paintings and carved marble iconostases are already visible. A certain splendor of the place is due to the modernity of the building - space and light

Mt Elbrus is the highest mountain in Europe, featuring two peaks with elevations of 5,642 meters and 5,621 meters respectively. The volcanic cone stands out from the surrounding landscape by almost 1,000 meters. Its upper slopes are covered in ice up to 200 meters thick, while several glaciers descend its flanks and give rise to numerous rivers.
Second pick done .. it’s next level of hike and I had great time with amazing team ever .
Thanks god I did it and looking forward to the next challenge

The highest mountain in Europe. Not very high, but quite complex.

Mount Elbrus is the highest peak of Russia that attracts thousands of enthusiasts annually and welcomes everyone who enjoys hiking, cycling, skiing, and climbing. The area around Mount Elbrus is a national preserved called Prielbrusie. You will be pleased by the extensive infrastructure, including hotels, refuges, ski lifts, and several different routes for various levels of mountain climbing. If you manage the top of the mountain, this will become one of the most memorable moments in your life, but those who are not quite ready for such a harsh vacation will still spend an amazing time in the national park.

Very picturesque mountain from any point and location at Karachaevo-cherkessiya, Kabardino-balkariya or even Stavropol area, like pyatigorsk!

Gorgeous mountain, one of the 7 summits. The views from the top are great too (when not in whiteout, of cause). The south side is a little spoiled by civilization (mostly skiing infrastructure) so only after 5300 m you start feeling truly in alone and a little detached from civilization. Still great experience, though!

We were traveling to Georgia from Belarus. On the way back we've decided to stop by at Mt Elbrus.
It was the best spontaneously move we've ever done in our lifes. We went all the way 5100 m

Beautiful mountain in the heart of Caucasus.
Not a very technical climb at all. Not many people will be climbing it with you even during high season, so it's still quite enjoyable.
Biggest problem during the climb will be that some of the tourists climbing with you will be taking the "shortcut" to the base camp (with ski lifts) and to the Summit (with snowcats). Not exactly the most nature oriented climb. But besides this, the views are amazing and the climb enjoyable.
Because it's not so high in altitude, you should be doing quite ok on the altitude sickness side as long as you take the necessary time and listen to your body.
We saw one tourist (from another group) having to be lifted down by a rescue team because he was already at severe altitude sickness levels.
People are not careful enough and do not understand what that can cause to them. So be mindful!

All over Russia has beautiful nature but these places are just unbelievable. you can enjoy this place on the way of mount Elbrush. it's 165 km far from Pyatigorsk city. Very good and peaceful nature.

Not much to say about it. It's still the same as 20 years ago. Not much of development to have better rest rooms, coffee shop or a good stop point for the tourists. Looking at it as nativity kinda point. Not everyone's cup a tea place to stop but incredibly beautiful nature surroundings.

Narzans look unpleasant, so there is no wish to drink.. And nothing to do in the morning. The place needs an improvement

Mineral water sources.

(Translated by Google) Amazing place. Dozens of mineral water springs flow from the ground. On the territory of the clearing there are several cafes where you can have a delicious snack of national dishes and buy glasses to comfortably drink water from the springs. There are designated smoking areas and public toilets.

(Translated by Google) Interesting place with water sources. There are only 4 water sources, the difference is in the carbonation of the amount of iron in the water. The first source has the most carbonated water and at the same time quite tasty. In the second, it’s like that, in the third, for long-term storage for no more than 5 days, then the ox will not be so useful, because it precipitates. Water should be stored without air, as a reaction occurs and water with air precipitates faster. At the fourth source, the water is practically gas-free and has a minimal content of minerals, suitable for more pleasant consumption, but it is less interesting in taste. The water in November was not very cold and it was pleasant to drink. In the clearing you can buy containers for collecting water, as well as handicrafts.

Very comfortable weather and lots of sun in July. In the sun about +25, in the evening +15. Numerous flowers are blooming, birds are singing - just a fairy tale! The road is good almost all the way to the alpine camp, but then it is very rough. The sedan passes, but the bottom may catch.
