(Translated by Google) It was absolutely beautiful. A lot to see. Terrain that is sometimes difficult for older people and yet very dark. But everything worked out. A great attraction for young and old. Price performance top! The physical well-being was also provided in abundance at affordable prices. Toilets clean 👍🏼 Tip: Use the side entrances and book the tickets in advance. Then it's a walk through, the parking lot on the side of the road was SO free. We'd love to come back.

(Translated by Google) An event that you have to see if you come from the Ruhr area. We were there on a weekday and got a parking space straight away. We had already booked the tickets (adults €9) online and it was very quick at the entrance. Beautiful light events in different shapes and sizes. A great artist! You can also get mulled wine, coffee and bratwurst if you're slightly hungry. A bratwurst in a bun for €4 is reasonable. It took us about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and it was a nice trip ;-)

(Translated by Google) Beautiful light installations. Really great for 2-3 hours to walk and switch off. I would only recommend this to a limited extent with children. At the end there are lights in a park. There is no interaction to speak of. This probably makes it quickly uninteresting for children.
1 star less because there are no signposts. If you don't know your way around the park, you'll quickly find yourself in front of an exit that's not the one you came in through. That might have to be changed.
(Original)

(Translated by Google) A highlight in Grugapark is the evening park lights. Entry to Grugapark is NOT free. There are a few toilets in the park and the on-site parking spaces are completely overcrowded, so you have to park a little outside and walk quite a bit to the entrances.
The park lights are lovingly made, especially for children, and combine (light) art with outdoor exercise.
Definitely recommended!

Historic Villa Hugel is a beautiful and lavish country home of 19th century industrialist Alfred Krupp. The complex and luxurious interior of the property features exquisite Italian coffered ceilings, marble floors, and numerous paintings and sculptures. The parkland estate provides an idyllic setting for walks or socializing.
Tucked away in the city of Essen, Villa Hugel is the epitome of opulence and historical grandeur. The stunning mansion, once the residence of the esteemed Krupp family, is an architectural marvel, with a breathtaking display of intricate woodworks, most notably the awe-inspiring staircase. The first floor's expansive living room, boasting a beautiful glass ceiling, will make you feel like you've stepped into another era. As you meander through the mansion, don't miss the rich collection of paintings, each telling a fascinating story. Outside, the verdant park and garden are a perfect complement to the villa's grandeur. The visit is made even more engaging with an augmented reality application, breathing new life into this historical gem. And with commendable attention to accessibility for elderly and disabled visitors, Villa Hugel ensures an inclusive and enriching experience for all.

Villa Hügel - more like a castle with Italien or French flair. Impressive to see how the Krupp dynasties lived there from 1880 to 1945.
Fair price of 5 EUR to visit. You should plan 1 hour for the house and at least 1-2 hours for the park / gardens.

a very beautiful historical place, it will be useful for children and teenagers to go on a tour, as it is part of the history of Essen and the whole land of NRW in general. It can be seen that the place is cared for and properly serviced, very modern information is presented regarding the history of the Krupp’s family and the history of Villa Hugel estate in general. By the way, tours are free every first Friday of the month. There is parking and snacks, a good place for walks.

I've seen a few castles and museums in my day.
I am not sure if I am being fair, historical building with large ballrooms and art work of the family.
I was very disappointed nothing to show life of the family. No video but you can take pictures, verboten... just incase you cannot climb the staircase....
Adam Mcneill — Google review
This is an impressive villa that underwent redecorating after the first owner died. The family portraits in the entrance hall are great. We went on a guided tour. Otherwise we would not have learned anything about the place as it's not a museum with a curated exhibition. Rather, the villa is mainly used for Foundation events and concerts. They have a small exhibition on the Krupp family in a side wing of the house. I would have loved to get more hardcore history facts. But it was a nice visit.

The us an amazing place within a beautiful parc.
But, the guidance to the place by Google for bycicles from the lake baldeney is a nightmare. Following the guidance given, he gets to the always closed side entrance on the west side of the park. From there, it is another longer way uphill and through the settlement to the main gate. Much better it is to cycle to zhe Essen Hügel railway station. From there, it is only a stone's throw away to the south gate at the lakeside. Therefore, it is not recommended to follow either the Google or the bycicle way sign!

Jkjk but this is a must see stop in Essen. I enjoyed every second of my time here (only complaint is I wish I could’ve seen more of the interior) and wish I had more time to explore the grounds.

It's really so beautiful here. You can enjoy the buildings with its fascinating architecture as well as the wonderful gardens.
The UNESCO-World Heritage Site Zollverein contains a coke and coal mine that began in 1849. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Ruhr region, with activities including exhibitions, concerts, and dance performances.
Well maintained, nice tour. Nice place to spend a sunny afternoon. Most of it you can visit for free. Tour is a bit rushed now, because they have to cram 2 hours into 1, but still worth it.

It is a wonderful place that has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Although we have a vaccination passport, we could not enter the museum because we did not have a test, but the outdoor and garden tells everything. This is what it means to protect your values. I advise. If you are going during the pandemic period, you cannot see it without a daily test and vaccination passport and mask.
Selma Dertli — Google review
Once a huge coal mine now a beautiful industrial monument in the middle of a park with museums, restaurants, playgrounds, walking and biking lanes. No entry costs except for the museums. You can easily spend the whole day.
Harmen — Google review
The Zeche Zollverstein terrain has a lot to show for including a swimming pool, restaurants, shops and two museums, each requiring a ticket purchase. One is dedicated to design, while the other offers a broad spectrum of items, ranging from paintings and sculptures to rocks and artifacts displayed among the industrial spaces and machinery. The general history museum also features beautifully lit staircases, though elevators are available throughout for convenience. To enjoy a nice panoramic view of the grounds, visitors must ascend the stairs to the rooftop. There are a lot of free parking spaces, but it can get quite busy near the entrance, so arriving early is advisable. Given the extensive size of the grounds, biking is also a great option. The main downside is the poor signage throughout. It's often unclear where things are located, the pricing, and which parts belong to the museum versus separate exhibitions. For a World Heritage site, one might expect better clarity.
Coen — Google review
Wonderful experience and great museum layout. In addition, a couple of hand made shops compliment the museum area. You could easily spend many hours in the museum. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Sisu Brothers — Google review
It is a very big area which is nicely planned in terms of design, style, service to show history.
You can simply touch and feel history and how the weather and the time was earlier. You can also have a guide who can explain you about the history and if you have luck to have someone with a good story telling skills then you can really enjoy the whole visit. There is also restaurant and cafe inside alongside with toilet free of charge.
The complex and buildings are distributed a wide area so you may face and see different views

Wonderful place to visit. Unfortunately, they don't have English guides on weekdays, but only on weekends. But we were able to walk around freely through the entire campus. The old coal mine, factory, and machinery looked majestic. A very beautiful place indeed. If you are around Essen, I would recommend this place to visit. And a beautiful location for your photoshoot as well.

An interesting Place to visit which grants you a look into the past. There is a lot to see, and tours to be taken. Whether you are young or old, want to walk a lot or not, there is something for everyone. A lot to look at, a lot to explore. You can walk around the premises and take a look at the different sites or take the bus.
There is a variety of restaurants and cafes all over the area if you get hungry or thirsty in the meantime.
There is plenty of parking so that you should easily find a spot whenever you come. Alternatively the site is easily to reach by public transport.
Overall if you are interested in the industrial times you should definitely give this place a visit when you are around.
Julian — Google review
What an amazing place of industrial heritage. One can only try to imagine this site bustling with activity, 8000 people on site and the noise and smell and dust and dirt. All this started by Franz Haniel to mine the black gold. We benefited from a well informed tour guide who helped to bring this to life, highly recommended since this gives you access to buildings equipped with sound and video installations.
Marc Willuhn — Google review
Informative and well designed museum about the Ruhr area. The museum includes a great viewpoint of the surrounding area and a socio-historic overview of the area. Only reason why it isn't 5 stars is because it felt a bit propagandistic as the environmental impact of the mining industry was barely mentioned. Regardless it is still worth a visit.

Very nice museum, the workers are polite and they have app which has language options to explain everything to you. 3 different time zone museums and extra football museum. From my taste, you should directly go downstairs 12m start with the history (past) museum, i find that s more interesting. In present section lot of photos and not useful information just items. It has wifi and toilet everywhere. For child under 5 age, student whose under 25 its FREE. So enjoy

The tickets fares are rather confusing. We went on a day where the Red dot Museum was closed. So we only visited the Rhur Museum.
I recommend the fare that includes the permanent, the special, and the temporary exhibition. As you have to walk and travel up and down the many floors inside the museum on both sides. There is a rooftop for taking pictures of the monument. But only stairs. Each floor they check if you have the correct ticket so I recommend you take the all-included one as you walk a lot up and down the stairs.
Permanent exhibition is about history of the industrial complex and collections. The temporary exhibition is currently about football.

I absolutely loved walking around here, an amazing place, the scale of the factory is mind blowing. Chances are if you’re near here you’re heading for the Ruhr museum, if so definitely take the time to visit this site it’s right opposite the museum you won’t be disappointed. The museum is just a small part of the experience, make sure to plan up to three hours of time in order to experience the entire campus fully. Many restaurants on site, beer and coffee are easily available. Plenty of places for children to enjoy, as well as adults. Bring a soccer ball if you can!

I love this place and can relate to it to be an UNESCO world heritage. It's absolutely impressive and stunning. As a German I didn't even know what was here to see. Dimensions are huge and the industrial style to me looks surreal. I will definitely come back to see more and make a guided tour. There is a lot of industrial history here.
Dortmund Zoo is a lush animal park that houses a diverse range of approximately 250 species, predominantly from South America. It charges $19 for two adults and four children to enter. Although some areas are currently under construction, the zoo remains a splendid destination for families with enjoyable activities for both parents and children alike.
This zoo is very nice! For €7,50 per adult and free parking in October the price is really low.
The majority of people says this zoo is small but I disagree and think this zoo is actually pretty large. A lot of well made habitats, however I do have to agree that some look like they could use a little attention. But this zoo is based on naturalism, so I think it’s fine.
A lot of opportunities to see animals from up close and take good photos. Also some (very )special species, like the black jaguar, clouded leopard and red panda.
If you want to you can spend the whole day here, there’s enough to watch. Most of the animals are very active, unlike in many other zoo’s where the majority of the animals are sleeping.
The only negatives were the constructions, which made it impossible to see some animals. Also, the animal information in mainly only German and mostly cash only payments at food stands.
But overall, especially for the price this park is very good! There were also very little people, al though we did visit on a Monday.
Yurivdb — Google review
The zoo is located just near the Hacheny station and is accessible easily with U Bahn. No instructing brochure or map. A selection variety of animals. In my opinion, most not kept in optimal condition. It can be a good and instructive day for the kids though. Restaurants, Cafe and WC available. The highlight of the zoo are Rhinos and the Urangutans. I personally am not a fan of or pro zoos. We keep other creatures in captivity with cruelty. It should be really heartbreaking for the animals behind the fences to see that the other birds fly in and out the fences freely.
Samad Golzari — Google review
A lovely zoo, €19 entry fee for 2 adults and 4 kids. It’s only a pity that there are many places closed in the zoo. They are under construction.

Small Zoo, but perfect for spending a couple of hours. We hvae visited during early March when it was not a season, but still nice, and in spring or summer I can imagine it is even better as Zoo is in perfect park where botanical garden is. Small zoo with its fair share of animals. Easily walkable. The staff at the front desk was really helpful, although, they only took cash for tickets and no cards. Since it was off season so the cafeteria was closed for renovation.

Great value for the price.
Did not know what to expect before we went, and was pleasantly surprised by what we got to see for the price ee paid.
Sadly some animals were not in their habitat because of construction projects.
Disclaimer: don't expect a premium zoo.

A complete failure. no information about the fact that you can't pay by card, after waiting 20 minutes in the queue, where, of course, there are two open ones out of 4, the lady happily states that they only accept some German EC card. I wish there was an ATM at the entrance, but no, it's a 2km walk from the entrance to the zoo. Parking, of course, also pays only in cash, it's the 21st century!

Wow, we are very impressed with how well the enclosures have been taken care of. The animals looked healthy, and relaxed. The zoo itself was also very clean. There is a nice bird collection and the mom orang-utan with the newborn stole the show for us. A rare sight. The entrance price is also very nice.
The zookeepers are also very nice and love to tell you about the animals that they work with.
Would definitely recommend to visit this zoo!

(Translated by Google) It was a lot of fun, the puzzles are very well thought out, sometimes a little too much. But I think it also depends on the people who are in there.
The staff really stands out for me, we were with a young lady who was really enthusiastic about all the puzzles. I think you can't have more fun at work than she does.
I really recommend the escape in Nienburg to anyone who enjoys puzzles.

Serengeti Park Hodenhagen - "Safari Adventure in the middle of Europe"
Animal park
Nature & Parks
Animal park & holiday resort, with safari-style lodging, free-roaming animals & rollercoasters.
A very nice place to spend a full day. You can even stay at the resort and spend another day without getting bored. Large safari park with an amusement park combined. It's fun for both 2yrs till grandparents alike. Entry price seems on the high side, but it is reasonable considering the amount of content and fun. Restaurants seem a bit costly, could be the inflation is the issue.
It's recommended without any doubt!

+ great experience
+ Children would love it
+ Great Spielplatz and Freizeitpark, and all free
- very long queue to get the tickets
- hard to find available bathroom
- i would expect for this place a better restaurant
Advice: go with your own car, animals are scared of buses and won't come close to you. It is much better with your own car
Ilia — Google review
Trully a horrible experience. No one ever respects the rule of driving on the left side, therefore you get to see only the animals that are at your left. Trully annoying that people have so little common sense and think they are above all else . And yes we told people that work here during our tour and no one does anything about it. Overpiced! Seriously avoid.

A great Safari Park where you can see the most amazing animals including the big 5! A great experience for the entire family. You can do the safari with your own car or ride on a bus/safari car from the park. Price per adult 41.50 EUR and children above 3 year 21 EUR

The animals are great, even though there are much lesser animals than there were a couple of years ago. Attractions are nothing out of the ordinary and are somewhat aged, but there are some exceptions, like the black mamba. fun with family, do not recommend going there with friends, since it’ll be mostly boring. Kids will love this place though.

Wonderful day spent with the family.
I would recommend for the accommodation as well. Probably the best way it is to arrive at evening there, to spend the night surrounded with animals, awaiting for the next day full of adventure. Also I would recommend in this order the accommodation because you get the priority next day and you can enter the safari before 10 o’clock when everybody is coming and it gets really crowded.
I would definitely avoid any weekends or holidays.
It is worth all the money.
Natalia Ceban — Google review
Great place, worthwhile experience to spend a day or two with kids. Animal safari, fun rides, water rides, toy train rides and many more can be experienced at one place once you enter the gate. I would suggest to arrive little early so not a single moment is wasted till exit time.

Great park with lunapark too. Nice place to spend the whole day with family and friends. It has lots of wild animals.
Tonka Medvid — Google review
fantastic full day experince. Went safari by car (I would strongly recommend to not go safari by bus), most animals were very active and came close to our car. after this experience, I think I could actually even drop my dream to go on a African safari trip someday. and then there was adventure safari and jungle safari on top to add to our joy. I had been to many zoos and theme parks, and I can say their staffs are super friendly and cheerful. I think the ticket price of 43.5€ is super cheap for the overall package and experience.
I honestly cant believe some of the negative reviews.
Harish — Google review
Unique experience that was very enjoyable. You get really close to some of the animals which is really cool! Lots of animals you would not typically see in a standard zoo, and this safari gives you more opportunities to see each animal since the road goes directly through the habitats.
My only “complaint” would be that when we went, a high number of animals were not visible. Maybe only 40-50% we actually saw. Besides that, great park - definitely go if you are considering it!

Serengeti Park Hodenhagen provides a serene safari experience in Europe that is both informative and enjoyable. Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast, a family seeking a relaxing outing, or simply someone looking for a change of scenery, this park delivers. It's an experience that will leave you with a greater appreciation for the world's wildlife, all in a more relaxed setting.

Great Place to spend a nice Time with your Family. It’s not extremely cheap - but you can Explorer a lot of trips to different kind of animal tours.Just keep in mind before the park is opening there are already a lot of people and you should be very fast to get some of the good tickets for the Tours. The rooms in the park are very cheap - no luxury to expect - but fine to sleep one night !

A great place to go with kids. Safari with option to drive on your own car or rake a bus/truck ride. Also has rollercoster and rides as well as pllenty of kids play areas.
Food options could be better though.
Irfan Malik — Google review
It was amazing and perfect for family with kids. I would highly recommend to take the safari with your own car, so that you can spend desired time with each animal. The amusement park has rides for all age groups. We really loved the Black mamba and Splash safari and was so much fun. The lodging was also very comfortable with a good breakfast. I would definitely visit again!
Cityhopper — Google review
It was a quite confusing arriving in the park, because there were signs only in German. Mostly everything in the park is in German and can be hard to understand sometimes. The big safari ride is slower right after opening, but more free and less crowded around lunchtime.
The amusement park was kid friendly, but not so exciting for adults, as the attractions are mid-size.
Elizabete Auza — Google review
Great safari Park for kids. Few improvements may be needed: more instructions and info in English, maps of the park available at the entrance, staggering entrance of private vehicle to the safari areas to avoid long lines in front of poor animals.
Marco Grazia — Google review
Our family enjoyed both the safari and the amusement park. We went to the safari by car, so we were able to see the animals more easily, whereas the safari bus moves quite fast without stopping. The rides in amusement park are old, but they're quite fun and fast. We didn't have time to try and experience everything in the park in one day. It's a good thing we didn't rush to buy tickets online, because we got a free child ticket to the park when we stayed in a nearby hotel.
Daiva — Google review
We spent an entire day here , and it was totally worth every minute spent here… perfect outing for families and a unique experience for kids and adults alike.
We went on a long weekend day and it was way too crowded. That’s the only downside.
Urooj Fatima — Google review
The safari experience is great, especially with own car. But due to no English description for late arrivals (neither on the Web nor in the reservation confirmation) we ended up being forced to find another accommodation. The infoline shuts down around 18:00 and the only way to get into the hotel is to call the night watch. But you need to be able to understand poorly-lit sign on the gate written in German. Despite our problems, the venue forced us to pay the full price for the hotel.
Bergen-Belsen Memorial is a site that preserves the memory of the horrors of World War II, serving as a tribute to those who lost their lives during this dark period in history. It houses monuments, displays and research facilities that chronicle the experience of former POWs and those sent to concentration and displaced persons camps. The museum staff are welcoming and helpful, creating an organized space for visitors to learn about this somber part of history.
This is a place of history, mourning and grieving. It is very organized and a TRUE tribute to ALL who lost their lives.
Sasha Benet — Google review
Free to enter and walk around, the scale of the area is massive and you can easily spend 2-3 hours walking around. You don't truly understand the scale of the camp until you walk the grounds.
Although none of the original building stand there are plenty of maps explaining certain areas dotted around the grounds.
The POW cemetery is separate from the camp, roughly a 5 min walk and is now connected via a sand path that crosses the training area.
All signs have an English translation and the exhibits in the museum also have English translations.
There is a cafe and library on site, but I didn't visit.

Another very humbling experience. This was our third camp that we went to on our trip to Germany. We were not expecting to be here long, because unlike Sachsenhausen and Dachau, Bergen Belsen does not have any structures up besides the visitors center/exhibit....but we ended up visiting for about 3 hours. While the building didn't really take long, walking the grounds and reading the signs of where things were, the memorial and graves took the majority of time. I would recommend coming here.

I visited 40 years ago whilst I was in the Army stationed in Germany. I remember it being a vast open space with burial mounds with mass graves. It's still as vast, however, a lot more trees and vegetation, it now has a visitors centre, a museum and other buildings. We got talking to a lady who was originally from Poland who was accompanied by her son, they lived in London, she was a prisoner in Bergen-Belsen until it was liberated by the British in April 1945, she was 14 years old. Fascinating and sad at the same time.

We went on a weekend morning, the countryside is very picturesque coming into the memorial. It is free entry and you have about 2km of walking in the memorial so wearing good shoes is a must as it can be very muddy. Very educational and emotionally charging. Lots of people were placing stones on the graves, this is a mark of respect in Judaism, and you can add to it. The adjacent museum is also very well presented and gives a good understanding of the camp.

People in the museum are very friendly and helpful. This place is peaceful, green, quiet...but when you realise where you are and what happened there...you get the chills. It makes you feel humble. It is remarkable how a bit of history can do that to a person.
Celle Castle, which has its roots in the medieval era but underwent a Renaissance transformation, is an ornate structure that boasts a lavishly decorated chapel and a Baroque-style theater. The castle's history is emblematic of Europe's architectural evolution over time, as it blends elements of Gothic and Renaissance design to create a unique style all its own. Visitors to Celle Castle can marvel at the intricate details adorning both the exterior and interior of this magnificent cultural landmark.
You can't miss this place if you're in Celle, the castle is pretty old and it looks interesting from inside, lots of art exhibition and, just exploring through yourself is nice but they limit the exhibition room that you can go, unless you choose to do the tour. Overall, it's full with history and infor about Kings and Queens.

Beautiful castle from outside, although it is not bug. It is very close from the old town. We didnt go inside as we didn’t have a lot of time. But, there is a toilet for people who need it. Free of charge. There is also other public toilet nearby, only like 100 m. From the castle, you can see a park with small like from above. Very nice for picnic.

There's a lot of history and royal connections to be found here - enough to make your head spin - but it's an elegant palace and well worth a look. Like many similar sites in Germany at the moment, there's an anxiety about protestors (especially the ones secretly carrying spray paint, super glue, etc), so you'll need to leave your coats, bags, and rucksacks in the lockers before you start a tour. It's probably a good thing because the decorations and furniture in the royal rooms are exquisite and priceless.
Make sure you get to see the 15th century chapel (you need to be on a guided tour) it is stunning - one of the most important examples of Renaissance Art in northern Germany. Visitors can only view the interior through a glass wall, which maintains a stable dry atmosphere to preserve the works of art.

Very impressive! It was for me the first time to visit a mine like this, it feels you go back in time! The groups weren't that big, so you could see a lot of the mine. It was quite cold, so wear warm clothes. The train underground was an amazing experience!

An amazing experience I would highly recommend! It's rare to get to walk in the shoes and take the same mine train the miners took back in the day, deep into the depths of this mine and UNESCO World Heritage site. The rest of the museum and exhibitions are also interesting but the mine rail tour is a must!

Even though they state there are English tours - there were non on the weekend with public holiday. We also tried to call in the working hours but the call was not taken. To get into mines you need a tour, so you would listen for German… for one of they’re we have taken it ended before the usual end because of corona and no one said it to us while buying tickets… also information between yours noticeably overlap, I would just take 1 tours…

It is a museum that I definitely recommend you to attend after visiting the medieval village. This mine, which focuses on mining history, provides you with a lot of experience. You can mine through the tour and learn about many other mines. It was a very good experience, definitely worth its price. Attention, there are many things to visit! Maybe you could spend half a day here.

Very deceiving for such an emblematic place. It is still a quite impressive place full of history which is nice to see. I expected more...
First of all, there is no tour in English. For a UNESCO world heritage site, you will expect at least one tour in English.
For the museum part, it is interesting but everything is disorganised and it is not appealing. Some parts are only in German.
I hope one day, this place would be made more accessible for non-german speakers.

I was here 3 years ago and must say it is differently worth a visit. I fell humble and on the same time drawn of the excitement when we were shown around deep down in the old shafts and mine.

I visited Rammelsberg Friday 7/7-23 and it is a must see. Do not miss this place if you have any interest in history, engineering, tech, geology and/or mining. There is history, mining, geology exhibitions, the historical buildings and different guided tours.
I must recommend the "From Lump of Ore to Concentrate" guided tour. This tour takes you to the top building of the site by elevator and then you walk down trough the buildings along the mountain side. The buildings contains all the machinery used to process the ore to extract the tin, cobber and lead from the stones. Many of the machines still works and it is all explained and demonstrated by the guide! A very big thanks to the guide (named Frans I think). It was an absolutely fantastic guided tour! I also did the "Mine train tour". It is a fun and interesting tour, but less technical, shorter and also aimed to be great fun for children.
Thank you for a great day at Rammelsberg.

The ground floor is dark and a lot of information, but the emperor's throne can be seen there. You have to go through it, as a tourist.
Highlights are the Keizerzaal on the first floor, lots of wood and many paintings from 1870-1890. And behind it a small chapel with the tomb and relics of Henry III.

The Brunswick Cathedral, a renowned 12th-century church adorned with frescoes and featuring a crypt for Guelph rulers like Henry the Lion, is a significant landmark in Braunschweig that must be visited by tourists. While it is free to visit during specific hours, its exterior beauty does not necessarily translate to an equally interesting interior. Nonetheless, this cathedral still remains as a central hub of activities and life in the city.
This is a marvelous place to visit. Beautiful frescoes! It was great to see the tomb of Henry the Lion and Mathilde as well as the wonderfully atmospheric crypt.
David McLoughlin — Google review
Braunschweig Cathedral is a truly extraordinary place that left a profound impact on me. From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported to a bygone era, overwhelmed by the weight of history that permeates every corner of this majestic structure.
The cathedral's architecture is a testament to human creativity and skill. Its soaring spires and intricate details are a sight to behold. The craftsmanship on display is nothing short of remarkable, with each delicate carving and carefully placed stone revealing the dedication and talent of the artisans who brought this architectural masterpiece to life. Every turn brought new surprises, and I found myself lost in admiration, marveling at the sheer grandeur of it all.
However, the cathedral's beauty extends far beyond its physical appearance. Its walls reverberate with stories of centuries past, and the sense of timelessness is palpable. It has witnessed historical events, joyous celebrations, and solemn moments of reflection. As I learned about its rich history, I couldn't help but feel a deep reverence for the generations that came before us and the cultural heritage they left behind.
Inside the cathedral, I encountered a collection of special sculptures that added an extra layer of fascination. These sculptures, meticulously crafted with exquisite detail, seemed to possess a life of their own. Their expressive forms and captivating presence drew me in, and I was captivated by the stories they told. Each one was a testament to the artistic prowess of the past, reminding me of the power of human creativity and the ability to transform stone into something truly extraordinary.
In conclusion, Braunschweig Cathedral is more than just a building. It is a gateway to the past, an architectural wonder, and a repository of history and art. Visiting this remarkable cathedral is an immersive experience that will transport you to ancient times and leave you with a deep appreciation for the enduring legacy of our ancestors. Prepare to be enchanted by its timeless beauty, to marvel at its architectural splendor, and to be moved by the stories it silently whispers.

A long overdue piece , I visited this absolutely beautiful cathedral in April, it was a cloudy morning and I was incidentally in time for Ms.Monika's famed church tour (it was around 11 am ) , and boy was i was amazed. She breathed and lived the cathedral's rich history, dark times and the subsequent restoration. Her impeccable attention to detail and careful explanation bought the cathedral to life. A proficient bi -lingual (German and English) , she did an outstanding job to weave the narrative of the journey of the cathedral from past to present.
The tour itself is about an hour and free , the cathedral has stood the test of time and is a testament to faith, history and changing times of the surrounding regions. The architecture (gothic- renaissance) is a splendid remainder of the rich history and cultural heritage of the city itself. The staff and local agencies involved are doing a wonderful job of preserving this splendid piece of architecture, if Braunschweig is not on your radar, give it a try, gems like these won't dissapoint you.

Although the frontage is a rebuilt of the old castle, inside there is a shopping mall. In a city like Braunschweig the mall is well visited, and attracts visitors from neighbouring towns and villages. The schloss (palace) is easily accessible by public transport.
Other than the mall, the main attraction is the schloss museum. Although small, it is quite nice and informative. One can also climb to the roof top where the Quadriga statue is located. On the right side, there is also a public library.

According to what I was told, this palace was constructed sometime in the 18th century and underwent a number of renovations over its existence. I have heard that it once served as a residence for the Brunswick dukes in the 18th century.
Wonderful to pass past this building.

Stunning City Palace with a remarkable history. The old home of the Dukes of Braunschweig, the last of whom abdicated in 1918, the Schloss was destroyed twice, first by fire and then of course in the bombing raids of the Second World War. Against massive protests it was demolished in the 1960s and finally rebuilt in the 2000s to cover a shopping mall.
You can easily spot the parts that came from the original Schloss. The architecture is beautiful and the site is in the centre of the city so absolutely a must visit when in Braunschweig. There’s a small museum in the left hand wing of the palace that is free, as well as the lifts to see the Quadriga at the very top that’s also free for the time being. The entrance is just to the right of the main entrance.

I have to admit I didn’t make it all the way to the top. After being packed in the back of an open train car for an hour, I got off and took a train back down the mountain. The 96 euro cost for two adults is an insane price to pay for no seat assignment. The regional trains are very nice, affordable, not packed, and air conditioned. The nostalgia of steam isn’t worth the hassle.

The design is fun, and one could write an essay philosophizing about its kind of abandoned state, but that's it, really. I transit here from Hamburg to Magdeburg, so do many, many people, and the underpass is way too narrow for that. Also never a fan of the "101/103/301/303" type platforms. So confusing.

Absolutely not five stars; four is debatable. Okay Hundertwasser train station but it’s probably his least impressive work, with few custom details. It’s almost nonexistent next to his Vienna or even Magdeburg buildings. Stores inside are also just okay. Not worth driving more than a short distance.

Decided to take the train back from here to Hannover airport and thus had the chance to experience this great place. Whilst I perhaps expected a bit more grandeur on the outside the inside is interestingly quirky and nice to look at and experience.

Small station with a unique interior design akin to the Flintstones. The floor has an undulating design with matching wall design. Quirky and so not Germany. The cafe/bakery is large with many tables, ample space and with a clear view of the platforms.

Hundertwasser's last work. Enjoy the miracle in real life, don’t hesitate to wait a little bit and be alone in every little corner possible. It’s living art in the real life, people are living and moving around. it’s natural, don’t be surprised. For us, it was worth waiting for another train to continue our journey.

Tours of an elaborate castle, built upon Medieval foundations & finished in the 19th-century.
Well worth the visit. We were not sure what to expect of Wernigerode but we were absolutely blown away by this castle. Such an incredible building inside and out. I would recommend paying to see the inside as it's really impressive.
James Paylor — Google review
This castle is located in the top of a hill, having a magnificent view towards the town of Wernigerode. The garden of the castle and the view are the best sights of the castle. The castle indoors is nice, well preserved, but you should do not expect to see a palace. There are more luxury castles in Vienna or elsewhere. Also, the whole castle architecture is asymmetrical and that's also beautiful and creative. It gives a mysterious and kind of dark sense to me. For sure it worth a visit combined with a visit to the town underneath which is also very picturesque.

An interesting experience in visiting the castle and its interior. Lots of interesting things to see and experience. The pleasant smell of old wood and stone is present. And special freshness in the walls, pleasant if you do it during the summer. In front of the castle there is a park and a nice view of the city. All recommendations.

This is a stunning castle overlooking the beautiful town of Wernigerode - you can’t miss it really, sat on top of the hill! You have choices on how to get up there - walking, by bimlebahn or by horse drawn carriage, we did the latter and it was a wonderful way to spend 30 mins and get to look at the town as you go up to the castle - highly recommended! The castle itself is stunning, we thoroughly enjoyed it even though the majority of the info is obviously in German, there are some bits in English, for example it would describe the room but not the individual contents. Photography and video are not allowed inside the castle unfortunately. There is also a couple of cafes there for some refreshments and a small gift shop. Stunning views over the town from the castle grounds. Lovely way to spend a few hours, not to be missed if you’re in the area!

The castle is very well kept. The rooms available are dining hall, bedrooms, chapel. There is a cute snack restaurant where coffee and ice cream are available. Disappointed ☹️ Firstly there are renovations going on, so a lot of the Castle is obscured. You can't take photos inside and it's too difficult to climb the stairs! It does however have a nice restaurant that overlooks the valley and the houses below. I nice place for a meal and drink or simply have a coffee ☕ and cake 🍰

We walked from our hotel, Hotel Erbprinzenpalais, to the Castle. 250 ft incline but paved and places to rest along the way if needed… took us less than 10 min.
As expected, the castle was magnificent. The historic “presence” was tangible. We elected for a self guided tour but if you’re into the history, a guide is well worth it.
We got there just before before opening at 10 AM and took about an hour to walk through. There’s a little cafe that opens at 11 so we grabbed a table and enjoyed some Apple Strudel and coffee but the had beer and champagne with strawberries too. Just as we sat the place got busy with tour groups so folks were waiting for a table. Get
There early and it shouldn’t be an issue.
Over all a great experience! And on your way out, take the hiking path to Wild Park Wernigerode Christianental. The path is easy and although not a lot of animals, the park is beautiful and worth the trip.

I've gone to this castle about 5 times with visitors from other countries, and I feel like they don't do enough with special exhibits. My first time there they had an incredible and very fun Donald Duck art exhibit that was light-hearted and and fun juxtaposition to the history of the castle. Since then, there has only been one special exhibit, and the was the most recent one for Christmas, and it wasn't particularly exciting.
So if you only go to the castle once, it's quite exciting, especially the dining hall. But for the frequent flyers, I feel it lacks something special to keep people coming back again and again.
But, I did see my first double rainbow from the balcony of the palace, so that was special!

A little bit disappointed, not too much to see. Plus some repairings were been doing exactly by the castle, so it's definitely not the best time to visit the place. The souvenir shop was awful actually, but the castle itself wasn't too bad. Some painting were impressive and the rooms looked lovely too

One of the best preserved castles I've ever seen. Definitely worth a visit! The restoration is on going and the attention to detail shows. Very impressive and the highlight of our visit to this part of Germany! The rooms are tastefully decorated in historical accuracy. The wood carvings are absolutely amazing. The history of the castle itself is fascinating. You even have several cafe's to choose from.

The castle was very nice, I recommend to visit it because it remains very similar as the original building and it’s very beautiful. However, you will probably not understand a thing because all the explanations are just in German, not in English. There aren’t audioguides either (in any language).
Very important: DON’T BUY THE TICKETS IN INTERNET. We did it and the web didn’t work well at all: we wanted just 4 tickets and we bought 8 of them because of a mistake. We complained about it in the reception and the girl there refused to speak in English and she demanded that we spoke in German. In short, she didn’t help us at all and we had to sell them to other people at the entrance of the castle. Fortunately, a German girl (a tourist) helped us a lot. It’s a shame that someone working in front of the public at a tourist place don’t know how to speak in English.

(Translated by Google) The old town ensures that Quedlinburg is rightly a world heritage site. One half-timbered house chases the other, you really feel like you're walking through the Middle Ages. Small shops, restaurants and pubs are hidden in many alleys. Of course, depending on the time of year, there are a lot of people out and about, but the old town is absolutely worth a visit.
Climbing the castle hill is also worth it because you have a wonderful view of the old town. Currently (as of September 23) there is unfortunately a lot of fenced and cordoned off here, and the climb is also signposted a bit confusingly, with a sign pointing to a side staircase that you should take, but in our case the main climb was free.

The Magdeburg Cathedral is a Gothic church, the oldest in Germany, built in 1520 and currently the tallest building in the country. The cathedral houses the burial site of King Otto and his first wife along with stunning examples of medieval sculpture at its center. Additionally, visitors can explore the church courtyard for an alternative view of this historic landmark. A mosaic labyrinth dedicated to St. Maurice can be found outside alongside a large square featuring fountains and illuminated sculptures during winter months.
Just been there to look at the black At Maurice. what an amazing piece of art. What a great artist. Does anybody know who made it? The statue is literally alive. The man is looking, thinking, has an opinion. And look at how his body shows under the protection, a great artist!

If you’re a history fan, you’re going to love this place. The stories about the history of the cathedral itself and King Otto are interesting. But for those who are more amazed by architectures, not really a bucket-list material. But I guess you’ll drop by because this is the no.1 sightseeing spot in Magdeburg. Oh by the way, it’s two euros to take photos inside. I would consider this as a donation to maintain this robust structure. Enjoy!

Cathedral Magdeburg
Germany’s oldest Gothic cathedral, completed 1540, a Protestant worship!
Another stunning building to admire, although it lacks the fancy stained glass windows, it impressed with the amazing height and the many details as described below!
Two ladies walked in from the street and sung some hymns which was mesmerising!
This description from the Magdeburg website of 15 best things to do:
Magdeburg cathedral’s present appearance dates to the 13th century when the worldly Prince Archbishop, Albert I of Käfernburg adopted the new French Gothic style.
The cathedral took 300 years to complete and the architects learned by trial and error as in the beginning they had no frame of reference for Gothic architecture.
The scale is epic, at 120 metres long and with towers 100 metres high, and even after hundreds of years of war and looting there’s still a wealth of art.
Most remarkable are the 13th-century carvings of the five wise and five foolish virgins from the bible story at the entrance to the northern transept.
Other virtuoso pieces are the 13th-century “Royal Couple” sculpture in the sixteen-sided chapel, the tomb of 10th-century Holy Roman Emperor Otto I, ancient Roman pillars reused in the Apse and a baptismal font carved from Egyptian porphyry that could be thousands of years old.

This cathedral has long been the tallest building in Germany. King Otto I is buried here with his first wife. In the middle of the cathedral are to find beautiful examples of medieval sculpture. Be sure to go to the church courtyard, here the cathedral comes off from a new unusual perspective. In front of the cathedral there is a mosaic labyrinth of St. Maurice as well as a large square with fountains in summer and special illumination sculptures in winter.

The place is really good. There are two nearby houses on which vines and Ivy has grown which looks really amazing. The Elbe river is just 100 meter's from this Cathedral. One can walk along the bank of the Elbe river too. There are many nearby good restaurants too and the tram station is near too. One can reach the Cathedral within 10 minutes from the nearest tram station.

You should see the cathedral. I was surprised that you have to pay for photography! They shouldn't charge for such a place, but... All in all, it's nice to visit. Magdeburg is otherwise a nice city and there is a lot to see. So let's go on a tour of the beautiful city.
MK — Google review
The cathedral is the centrepiece of Magdeburg and the square around it is very pretty and allows uninterrupted views of the building. The original church was built in the 930s but this was destroyed and the current incarnation was built over 300 years from the 13th to 16th centuries and then heavily restored in the 19th and 20th centuries.
There is some beautiful artwork and sculpture inside and there are plenty of information boards, although almost all are in German only. I probably should have done a guided tour as I didn't even see the tomb of Otto I, the original founder of the cathedral and I'm not sure of you can climb into the towers to see them and the views so that's not very helpful really.

I had a ridiculously short time, changing train on my way to Hannover, but the cathedral is only a quick 5 minute walk from the station - so in I went.
Firstly, the person who greeted me as I entered was friendly and helpful. A ticket to take photos costs 2 Euros, but otherwise there is no charge.
The cathedral is fascinating and every inch seems to contain something to look at and I could have (and should have) spent much longer here, but German trains wait for no man...
One detail that really struck me was the beautiful door handle to get into the cathedral (in my photo). To open the door you get hold of the bird and rotate it so that it feeds the chicks - just an utterly beautiful thing that sets the tone for the whole cathedral. It made me happy all day.

A beautiful church though I must say that 2€ for photos is an enormous price and one I think the god they claim to worship would not agree with, would Jesus charge money to be in his presence? And the heat the emanated from the statue of Jesus was most uncomfortable, it left scorch marks on my skin. The speakers, at least I assume it was the speakers, kept shouting for me to leave this place. The architecture of the church was beautiful though and all the free photos I took look good. Although a church should be open to everyone and at all times, no matter the wealth of the person, this church is open only from 8-16 which gives those in need little to know help. What use is a home of god if it does not support those in need?
The Green Citadel in Magdeburg, designed by Austrian artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, is a striking and unconventional building that combines residential apartments with retail spaces. Its unique and eccentric architecture has drawn comparisons to the work of Spanish architect Gaudi. The building's colorful exterior resembles a vibrant painting brought to life. Visitors can enjoy exploring the restaurants and shops located within the Green Citadel, making it an essential destination for those interested in contemporary architecture and design.

The master house has been rebuilt by the berlin based studio Bruno Fioretti Marques in a contemporary way: volume and windows has been restored with new materials like light concrete and milky glass. Inside you will find a permanent installation of Olaf Nicolai with shades of white in the wall and temporary pieces of other artists. You can also see small models of the houses.

A must-visit if you are interested in the Bauhaus culture.

The original was demolished, except for the car garage. Rebuilt and re-imaged as an exhibition space. Surprising reinvention of the original house form.
Just a thing that should be in your bucket list if you don't live in Germany.

One of the best places to visit in Dessau,06844, Germany.
Historical buildings,with long history.

When you walk inside the building you can imagine gears and cogs fricting against each other, the building functions as a grinding chew, doors slamming, brisk walking, sometimes i feel lucky to be in this city, most times i feel i can't escape the big old W&B "Modern Times" by charlie chaplin, The Shop itself is a piece of art!
mohamed abdelaziz (Degwy) — Google review
The building itself is gorgeous and an outstanding example of the Bauhaus in Dessau. The ground floor houses and exhibition and there are some modern art pieces on the second floor but besides that the building is quite empty. Nevertheless, the videos on the history of Bauhaus are quite informative. Also, the biggest gift shop for Bauhaus.

A true modernist icon. The students wing is open for overnight accommodation, booked through web site. Rooms have been renovated with share toilet and shower on each floor and a small kitchen. Some tours in English, check at the gift shop for details. Walking distance to the Masters Houses.

Nice impression of the former education and teaching rooms. Classical, clean architecture. You can walk by yourself or take a tour. Take one hour. Cafe available downstairs.

Just as it clocks 100 years soon, I had the opportunity to take a tour around the Bauhaus Dessau and was blown away by its significance in the world of design, art, and architecture. The building is a masterpiece of modern architecture, with its clean lines and minimalist aesthetic still looking fresh and contemporary today despite it being constructed almost a century ago.
The tour provided an interesting insight into how the Bauhaus has shaped modern design and technology, providing a foundation for innovation that countless architects, designers, and artists still draw upon today.
The designs and creations of the Bauhaus school are on display throughout, and there are many interactive exhibits providing an immersive experience that showcases how technology is shaping the future of design.
If you have any interest in architecture, design, or art, I would highly recommend visiting this iconic landmark. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, and the building is a testament to the innovative spirit of the Bauhaus movement.
All Saints' Church in Wittenberg is a Gothic church that serves as the final resting place of Martin Luther, who sparked the protestant reformation by nailing his 95 Theses to its door in 1517. The church offers public tours and boasts a superb tower with a 360 degree view of the town. Visitors can also admire the beautiful details throughout the church itself. Both the church and nearby castle are well-organized for visitors who speak German or English.
Visiting this place is definitely a must! Located at the end of the main street of the historical area of Wittenberg, this place is of extreme value not only because at one of his doors Martin Luther nailed his 95 thesis, but also because his grave is inside the temple, at the back, under the organ pipes. The entrance is free. Take your time to admire every single detail of this treasure building in terms of architecture. Highly recommend. Ask for a guided tour, it will broaden your experience! Also, you can go up in the tower for 3 €, where you will have great views of the city.

Church as well as the castle are neatly refreshed and well organised for visitors (German and English speaking ones). Tower also worth climbing.

History was made in this town that changed the world, shaped the German language, brought public education to boy and girls, and set the stage to bring Scriptures into the hands of the masses in their own language. Martin Luther did all of that and more...

The birthplace of protestant reformation. 95 Theses on the power of indulgences were posted here on all saints day, 1517. It just proves that Martin Luther had the balls to go against the corrupt catholic church :) HE is the MAN!

Castle Church was where Martin Luther nailed his thesis to during the Protestant Reformation more than 500 years ago. Unfortunately the church was closed on a Monday, so we didn’t get a chance to go inside

The interior of the church is a solemn and quiet place and the top of the tower gives a complete view of the whole town.

A mass in English was advertised all over town, also in-front of the Luther museum. We saw it and wanted to visit the church and listen to it. Upon entering,a very angry person asked us if we are tourists. I replied that we are and that we would love to listen to the mass. He got angry and proceeded to loudly say “nein, nein”,pointing towards the exit. We were very disappointed and left wondering what was the point of advertising this since entrance is denied to visitors.

Absolutely fascinating. Excellent museum to be found attached to the church, with some of the best audio visual demonstrations I have seen, by that I mean they are easy to use and in several different languages and capable of being tailored to suit the user (eg magnified if you don't have your glasses :-) ). The Tower is well worth the climb with magnificent views over the city and surrounding countryside.
Martin Luther's grave is in this church and this is the church he nailed his famous theses to.

Amazing building with great history. It is the site where, according to Philip Melanchthon, the Ninety-five Theses were posted by Martin Luther in 1517.

Beautiful church in a cute little town. This is the church that is supposedly where Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses on a church door. FYI the original church door was burned down during the Sevens’ Year War, but later the Prussian emperor commissioned building a new door in honor of Martin Luther. Historical information is listed on little stands throughout the town.

Very beautiful interior! There are also regular concerts held in the church for no charge. The organ has a beautiful sound to it and the concert was very nice. There is also a tour you can climb for an extra €3. Good view of the city but not a lot you can see.
Lutherhaus in Wittenberg is the former Augustinian monastery where Martin Luther resided as a teacher-monk and later after its dissolution. The museum chronologically outlines major milestones in Luther's career, offering an informative look at his life and religious legacy. It serves as a living history of Christian Reformation and is considered one of the most important museums to visit in Wittenberg. The well-designed explanations by guides and signboards make it a great historical place to explore.
Highly recommended! Make it your first stop when visiting Lutherstadt Wittenberg so you can get a clear picture of the importance of this city and it’s history. Interesting, interactive and easy to navigate.

A very important stop while visit Wittenberg! Located at the beginning of the main street of the historical area, Lutherhaus will transport you in time to experience what people at that time use in their daily lives. Also, this museum has a largr collection of Luther's writings and pictures. The house also tries to portray and explain the living conditions of that period. The house, plus Luther's sayings as well as the whole collection of objects will give you a better understanding of the life of one of the important figures of the reformation. Highly recommend. Single ticket 8 €, combined ticket 10 € (Luther House + Melanchthon House )

Really informative museum of Luther’s life and religious legacy. You can find the house after walking through this large stone gate - picture added. The museum itself chronologically outlines major milestones in Luther’s “career”, you could say. It is astounding to see what one person’s courage could do for an entire religion.

Nice Therme with 4 Saunas, a quiet area which I didn't like because it was rather uncomfy with cheap blankets and a bad smell. Beds were also not supporting relaxation in the lake sauna. The library relaxation area is a little nicer but too small. In the lake sauna, you probably always find a seat because it's huge, and you have a nice view over the lake with the possibility to walk directly into the lake after the sauna visit. Especially during winter, quiet refreshing. The other area with the Saunas was good. Here, you have a live infusion, whereas in the lake sauna, it's automatic.
There is also an ice area and two walk through showers for gold and hot water. The pools for my liking where all too cold and I didn't spend a minute in there.
Overall a nice experience but there is potential to make it even nicer and a little more comfy.

Overall very underwhelming. Kitchen closes at 7pm, food is very expensive and of low quality. The only thing that is enjoyable is the lake sauna. Rather go to Vabali in Berlin for an experience 10 times as good at the same price. Terrible lighting concept, no customer experience design.

Very relaxing place, with various saunas and pools to choose from. I was here mid March but the cold did not matter in the warm pool outside, under the full moon. I have enjoyed it a lot and plan to go back as soon as possible.

A bit further out from Berlin, so I can not get there as often as I would like. It would be great to go once a week and discover everything that they have to offer. The saunas are my favorite, such a nice mix of options and many great programs at regular intervals.

Great idea to escape busy Berlin for a day and just relax. Easily reachable by public transportation, the train station is just 10 minutes away walking so don't be afraid to go without a car. All facilities are very nice, pool and sauna and steam baths are the best and the bistro is totally worth it!

This place is a great place to relax. You can reach the place quite easily with the train and a short walk. I s there during Easter and while it was running at full capacity, it still felt quite empty so that relaxing was actually possible. This is really a highlight since in the other options in Berlin like Vabali or Liquidrom you feel like sardines packed in a can. The employees are really friendly and try their best to make your stay pleasant. Food options in the Therme itself were very limited and overpriced, but options in the hotel annexed are okay. Overall, great experience.

The worst experience ever! The receptionist was rude and disrespectful. We only took 3 bathrobe sets but she entered 2 more into the bill without our consent. They refused to do anything when we asked for a correction, and fooled us to pay the whole amount by promising return the overpaid items to our bank account. The next day they changed their mind, said the only offer they can provide is two free sets for our next visit.
How can we still trust such a company who lied and even stole from customers? Of course we won’t visit again!
If you expect rudeness and arrogance, that would the a suitable place to go!
Great deals going on with extra 30% off reduced prices already! Also, huge selection of shoes with prices ranging From €35+ for men’s selection and €25+ for women’s collection. The store is big and staff are respectful and helpful, you’ll definitely be coming back for more. Happy holidays everyone

Leisure park with animal enclosures & full size dinosaur models, plus adventure playground & rides.
It was an amazing experience. We highly recommend it. It's much bigger than in the pictures I've seen here. There are different parts of the park, Dino parc, animals, lake, kids playground.
The price is much cheaper than a zoo and are many many animals. I recommend... At least 5 hours.

nice park, especially for family
I would recommend it on weekends, buy the tickets from website (online), because the line of waiting very long. Difficult to find a parking for cars. You can eat inside the park if you grab something from home. I didn’t see a 300 animals that their website talked about.

A great place to spend a day with the kids. It's an interesting mix of a petting zoo, some wild animals, a theme park, play areas plus a dinosaur world. It shouldn't really make sense but it does. It's quite big so even when it's busy it still doesn't feel too overwhelming. My only minor complaint is the need to pay when exiting the parking as it can create a bit of a gridlock, they should just include the fee in the ticket.

Fantastic place. A true gem for kids and adults. Had great fun here. Not too expensive and easy to have a nice time here. The dinosaurs are a great attraction, but the best part are the deer which you can feed.

We visited while visiting family in Berlin. The park is huge and such a fun way to spend the day. You could spend a whole day here without the kids getting bored. There’s the Dino park, which is very large. Petting zoos with roaming deer, options to swim when the weather is nice, many different food options and much more we didn’t get to see.

Very nice park with animals, big dinosaur figures and carousels for kids almost of all ages. Brig coins since most rides are unlocked with 50 cents or 1€. There is also a wending machine für coins. The best food is too be found in the dinosaur area.

The park is very entertaining for kids. The area is pretty big and split in 3 big groups. The first, close to the entrance, is where you have a lot of recreation for kids, like playgrounds and some paid rides. Next there's two big circuits with animals, some that are running free and you can pet them. Finally, there the dinosaur area, with one big and wide circuit. Depending on your pace, you can complete everything in 2 or 3 hours. Overall the kids enjoyed very much and had fun while we were there.

Great park for families. We went with our 7-year-old, and he loved it. Animals to watch and feed, dinosaurs to learn about, and lots of space to just play. There are also some play areas which are fun.
On less star because of needing to pay extra for some of the attractions (bumper cars, etc).
Jana Romeo — Google review
Rather crowded on warm spring days. Rich Zoo with lots of domestic and exotic animals. Playgrounds are well equipped, kids have lots of spaces to get their rage out. The Dino area is fun if you're a fan. There are plenty of paid attractions inside, some of them are decent. Ponds and canals are nice too, you can have some beach time during summer. Huge lines for food and often at the entry before and during noon. You can bring your own food for a picnic, keep in mind that grilling is prohibited.
Artem Kovalyov — Google review
It’s a very good place to visit with kids. The park has different areas where kids can see nicely made life-like dinosaur replicas, a small zoo and farm animals. It also has different play areas for kids and a lake. Prices for food and rides are quite reasonable (not really expensive). Overall a very family-friendly park. You can spend between 3-4 hours, or longer if you wish, walking around.
Diana Vanegas — Google review
Interesting place to visit with kids! It's a bit far from Berlin center by public transit (SBahn, bus then 20-minute walk), but worth it for a day trip. The park is really big, with a zoo section, section with dinosaur statues, various playgrounds, coin-operated rides, an indoor play area, a lake for swimming (no lifeguards), and some restaurant options.
We went with two 3.5-year-olds and they had a great time. We were glad we brought our Bollerwagen to pull the kids around, but wooden wagons were also available to rent in the park for 5 EUR.
The entrance fee is very reasonable (7 EUR for adults, 3,50 for kids) but we found out that's because they try to upsell you EVERYWHERE. There are coin-operated rides all over, and every kiosk has a ton of cheap dinosaur toys for sale (left out in the open where kids can grab them, of course). But as long as your kids are pretty good about not asking for every little thing you can still have a good time. Some things are worth paying a little extra for, like the "water walking" ride where you go inside huge inflatable barrels and roll around on top of a pool of water. Not cheap (4 EUR per person for 5 minutes), but unique and a lot of fun.
The dino park section was well done, with still statues all around. They were life-size and made for impressive vistas. Playgrounds are interspersed around so the little ones can have something to do while enjoying the backdrop.
We stopped for lunch at the Asian kiosk nearest the entrance and wished we had waited, as the food quality was poor, and there were much better options further in near the zoo animals. Definitely go in further and find those.
We didn't see much of the zoo section because the girls were focused on the dinosaurs, but we did get to pet a very tame deer and saw owls, parrots, and snakes.
All in all we were glad we came once but don't feel the need to visit again.

Great price at entrance and parking. Good theme park!
It’s a large park with different entertainments. There are animals you get to pat and feed. A cafe with a lot of toys. Small trains and cars. It costs something little like 50 cents or 1 euro.
The entrance is quite good price at 6 euro.
Parking costs 1 only.
Food there is not expensive at all, quite fair price. Tastes pretty OK.
We enjoyed a lot and will definitely visit again.
Highly recommended!

We liked it!
They did a great job with the dinosaurs! There are so many! And the lake area with the prehistoric octopus and the slide seem really great.
There is no shade, so we will save it for a different visit on a less hot day.
The deer are other animals are able to roam freely which was nice to see.
The bird cage is too small for birds :( But so it is in most zoos and animal parks. It is just to nature.
They have a lot of parking, benches and enough restrooms and snacks. The snacks are typical of Berlin and similar places: sausages, French fries, ice cream, sugary drinks, etc.
So if you plan to be there the entire day, I suggest to bring a picnic.
Of course things could be improved. The number one thing would be to ban smoking on the grounds of the park. There are cigarette butts littering the grounds and beach areas in a lot of spots :(
It is a very large place with a diversity of fun things to do for the kids.
The Spandau Citadel is a military fortress in Berlin that was built in 1559 and is one of the oldest surviving structures from the Renaissance era. The citadel is located on an island where the Havel and the Spree Rivers meet, making it one of Berlin's most famous landmarks. The citadel has been protected by the German government since 1945 and is a popular tourist destination.
I really love this place. At first you might think that there isn't much to see when going to festivals and drinking some good mead and eating some nice bread but even beside all the festivities there is so much to see at least for people that are really looking 😁.
If you want to enjoy a view you should get up the tower left from the entrance.
If you are looking for culture you actually can find anything from medieval weaponry to the history of bats or artisan skills.
Would recommend to anyone. ☺

Overall, it’s a good place to go if you enjoy history or antique architecture. The view from several spots is really nice (all around the walls). Be aware they the tower view requieres you to go up by stairs in a semi dark environment. It can be tricky even with glasses.

Well worth the 4,50€ entry, but make sure to eat properly in Spandau old town first as there's only a small cafe inside the citadel with cakes and drinks.
My personal highlights inside were (A) the Julius tower with a fantastic 360° view over the surrounding area, including Spandau old tow, Teufelsberg and more, and (B) the Proviantmagazin on the east side of the citadel with a fantastic sculpture exhibition! Recommend going there in the afternoon, the sun rays fall perfectly inside 😍 Also highly recommend the green room for its audio and visual experience, as well as the dark room for the visual experience, all inside Proviantmagazin! Walking into the dark room without seeing anything at first and then experiencing the shaking floor is something else!

Spandau district is an excellent area to visit if you are in need of more restful period in Berlin. With S-Bahn it takes less than 30 minutes from Zoologischer Garten to Rathaus Spandau. And from there some 15 minutes’ walk to the Zitadelle. But do also visit the Spandau’s old town. At the Zitadelle you can take a scenic stroll or you can spend the whole day visiting the various attractions. The entrance fee is only 4,50 euros and it covers just about everything. There are several historical museums, art centers, bastion structures etc. A café is also available. Some spots are little ragged, but some sceneries are just wonderful, like the view from the top of the Julius Tower. The Bismarck special exhibition at the Zeughaus was both informative and fun with playful contemporary art works. It is available to the 1st of April 2024.

To see 360 degree nice view on the top of the Citadel tower. Here is also a museum where anyone can see historical stones, regular used stuff, cars, old type-writing machine and so on. The most interesting thing is that they also showed how they planned their war (showcase of battles) and some weapons.
#Note: Student ticket only 2.5 euro.

Disappointed!
The information booklet doesn't provide correct information about the opening timings. It says the bat cellar will be open till 5 pm but it is closed exactly at 16:30h. The Julius tower too closes early. Also there are no last admission timings mentioned anywhere. To top it off, the staff is rude.
Verify the timings before buying the tickets as you are paying 4.50 €.

The Citadel was an absolute pleasure to visit (especially when you like history)
If you can close yourself of to the uninterested staff and just enjoy the atmosphere, great works of art and history this place is definitely something you should go to.
For only 4.50 as an adult and 2.50 as a student you just cannot go wrong with it.
The only downside was that there was not much information in English available but with your phone in hand I experienced no problems understanding things.
Indoor & outdoor pools, plus saunas & landscaped gardens in a spa facility with dining options.
It's a wonderful place for relaxation. They've got massive indoor & outdoor thermal pools with timely workout routines. There are tons of indoor & outdoor saunas with different ceremonies happening every 30 mins.
There are also two restaurants and a pool bar for eating & drinking.
And the best part is that you can relax without the sticky swimming costumes. The whole place is clothing free.
A day pass here is absolutely worth it.

I have been at the Kristall Therme today (Sunday) for the first time. Nice pools with both cold and warm water, and very nice saunas as well.
Unfortunately the place was too crowded despite the ongoing corona restrictions and the atmosphere was not relaxing at all. Lots of children playing in the pools and people talking loudly in the sauna. Perhaps it is better to go there on a weekday but I don't know if it is worth it.

The culture of FKK is very popular at this place.
And in case if you feel comfortable swimming in such thermal pools you should think twice if you are going to visit this place with kids.
Some visitors are walking around thermal pools without bathrobes of towels, and you should think which area your small kid will observe first of all on your way to the pool, toilette etc.
Also another act of inappropriate usage of the restaurant area has took place. Some visitors are walking in to this area also without bathrobes and towels, and also siting at the tables without bathrobes or towels.
Hair dryers are very old, pools are dirty at some places.
I would not recommend this place to the family with kids.

Love this place! Interesting saunas, tasty food and my favorite outdoor salty pool! Not very comfortable with small baby - uncomfortable sun loungers, but they have portable Hauck beds.

What a wonderful place! A massive sauna/spa complex with dozens of saunas and a large heated pool area. The entry fee is relatively cheap, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. My German is very bad, but the staff was accommodating.
There's a very nice poolside bar you can swim up to and get a drink for a reasonable price (4.50 Euros for .5 liter of beer, cocktails are around 7.50).
The entire place was very clean and taken care of. The saunas were very well kept, and nice to spend time in.
All saunas and the pool area are "textile free", meaning you can't wear any clothes. As an American, this was very strange to me at first, but I adjusted to it surprisingly quickly. Now I'm sad we don't have anything like this where I'm from.
Also, the entire area offers free entrance on your birthday (which happened to be today for me). I don't think this is advertised anywhere, but a few reviews mentioned it, and I can confirm! This made the entire experience very cheap, which made for an even greater experience!
To all the staff who work so hard to make this place run smoothly, well done! Und Vielen Dank für einen Wunderschönen Geburtstag!

Went on a Saturday, very mixed crowd off all ages and walks of life. Relatively quiet in the morning got quite busy in the afternoon. They have various pools, big enough to swim in with different salinity and temperatures both indoor and outdoor, as well as a lot of different sauna's from ca 20 degrees up to 100, again both 8n the indoor as well as the outdoor area, outdoor hot and cold showers and cold tubs. A hamam, etc. Basically whatever you want from a sauna they got it and the place is quite big so you can always find a spot. Plenty of food options too so you can easily spend a day. One pool has a bar so you can drink while soaking in warm water if that's your thing. They also got events like full moon sauna where they're op until 11 pm and light up the outside area with torches and small campfires.

A broad range of different saunas at various temperatures with different themes from scent, stone or theme. Great pools of different salt concentrations. Family friendly and not always as strictly restful around the main pool as other spas but a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable day. Great value for money

I love this place and visit it every time I am back Home in Berlin for a visit. My Buddies and I just enjoy it very much. In the Summer you can relax outside and work on your Tan. The Food is very good and there are a lot of options. The Facilities are very clean and well Maintained. I get a Massage every time and it rounds out the experience for me. It's certainly a great way relax and forget what is going on. Especially in the current situation. I am glad that they where able to weather the Storm and survive. I love all the different Saunas and Steam Rooms. There is something to do for everybody. I love relaxing in the Pool by the Bar and enjoy a nice Beer with my friends. It's such a cool feature. I am not sure why people complain about this place being FKK/ You should perhaps do some research before going. There are days where you can go and be dressed. I guess being German it's not a big deal for me at. I am going to be back in Berlin in August for a few month and will for sure visit it several times while there. Keep up the great work and I look forward to my next visit. Danke Schoen. :)

This place is definitely not for Americans or people from a conservative culture where not everyone is normalised to being naked around each other. The genders are not separated and there is people of all ages which is never ever the case in US spas. You cannot use the saunas or swim unless you are fully naked, even if you have swim trunks on, take off your shoes, and put a towel under yourself. It was very difficult to communicate with staff because only one person new English but this understandable as this is a German spa. I came on Wedensday because it said on the website that you could wear clothing that day, however this was false because they told me you can never wear clothing in the saunas. This was extremely disappointing as I did not know this when I bought the ticket. I booked for 3 hours but left in an hour or so after being yelled at in the sauna by a German grandma wanting me to get naked. I only give 2 stars because one employee (the only one who spoke English) was nice to me. The sauna village was beautiful but I will definitely not return here.

It's not a bad experience but nothing out of the ordinary. The saunas themes were not easily grasped. As a fan of good oils, I was disappointed to not recognice a lemon scent in a lemon sauna. Same for most other saunas. They do have plenty of infusions, though. All in all, it is a good place to spend a cold day. Nothing memorable apart from the company you may bring along.
