(Translated by Google) Have been there many many many times and each time it has been an extremely amazing experience. The many amusements in the park keep an active all day, and if you have a hotel room at their hotel, you can also expect a great experience. The food at the hotel is fantastic and the food in the park is also good. The water park is super fun and is perfect to cool off in, in the summer heat. Would definitely recommend Fårup summerland as your go-too park in Jutland.

Vil helt klart anbefale Fårup sommerland som din go-too park i Jylland.

(Translated by Google) With a 'neighbour' which in some cases is only an extra hour's drive away, Djurs Sommerland, this may have to be considered if you are an adult playboy, because the number of attractions for adults is limited.
Price level is on par with other Parkers = too high = everyone is carrying a hunchback with cooler bag etc.
Small appeal - find the reasonable prices because we guests don't actually want to drag the fridge from home (the ones we know) and then we'll probably have to buy a delicious salad/sandwich or similar.
Then there is just one website that didn't work on the day we were supposed to use it to buy tickets with a discount, but it might just be bad luck - but hardly the day before this function didn't work either.
(Original)

The Kulturhuset Blokhus is a charming outdoor museum that showcases sand sculptures, paying homage to a tradition from the sixties and seventies when artists worldwide crafted these unique creations on the beach. In addition to the impressive sand sculptures, there are also captivating wooden and iron artworks on display. Visitors can either bring their own food or purchase refreshments onsite and enjoy them at one of the outdoor tables or in the grassy areas.
Great fun looking around the sculptures especially with all the Christmas lights - not a particularly Danish experience but so well done that you embrace the tackiness of the over the top display!
The sand sculptures are beautifully lit and what a craft they display!!

Surprisingly nice little private outdoor museum with sculptures in sand, following up on a locale tradition from the sixties and seventies (when I came her on holiday) when artist from all over the world made sand sculptures on the beach. Very nice sculptures, exciting for all ages. There are also some nice sculptures in wood and iron. You can bring your own lunch basket or coffee, our buy something there, and enjoy it outside at one off the tables or sitting in the grass. If it rains there's a few tables under an open tent. This year the entree fee was 50 kr., 75 if you want to see the Elvis museum which is inside (I didn't see that).

Vikingemuseet Lindholm Høje is a contemporary museum showcasing Viking culture and history, along with a burial site containing gravestones. Aalborg's most significant historical legacy lies within the Viking period and the Limfjord, which acted as a motorway for longboat raiding parties' easy access to the Atlantic.
Very interesting museum in which to learn about the Viking Age. You can take a look at lots of recovered items and read about them. All of the text is in Danish but they have tablets with the information in English and German (maybe more languages but I didn't check). Definitely a place to visit!
Ana Vica — Google review
An interesting museum to visit if you want to get a better understanding of the life of people living in this area thousands of years ago. Small but very informative.
The graveyard outside of museum is a must see as well.
The staff were nice and helpful. Cute souvenirs can be bought here. 👍
ND — Google review
Wonderful museum with decent prices and great service.
We visited the museum as a group of 6 Germans and 1 Danish. The lady was very nice explaining us some stations only available in Danish and also gave us some extra information on the side. The souvenir shop is also decently priced compared to what museums usually take as well as the entry fee itself. The grave hill is even free to visit. There is also an extra exhibit showing general findings in the fjord area which was very interesting in addition to the local exhibit.
KittyWittyBitty — Google review
Nice museum, not only viking but also old age .
Outside the biggest found grave yard of the vikings.
jean michel swerts — Google review
The Viking museum was extremely informative and a must-see for those with Nordic ancestry. We were unable to eat in the adjoining Cafe as there was a large group event inside and all of the outside tables were full as well -- perhaps good signs about the quality of the food?
Many of the displays had legend cards in English, but some did not. There were iPads in the museum as well at some of the displays which could be scrolled up to change the language presented which was helpful.
Being able to walk in the cemetery among the stones and the ancient funeral pyre remains was a remarkable experience, but the path through the small forest filled with the constant cacophony of crows was a little spooky especially considering its proximity to all of those old viking souls. It felt like a Harry Potter movie moment.
Chris Rehberg — Google review
Very interesting and beautifully designed exhibition, makes you feel like you’re walking through history. Many archeological items from the area of Aalborg are displayed, with information available in Danish, English and German describing the daily life of the Vikings. Next to the museum are the burial grounds, which don’t require an entrance fee.
Cornelia P. — Google review

Ryan Dombrowski — Google review
One of the best museums I've ever been to. To be honest, I did not expect such an experience!
Milica Kovačević — Google review
Fantastic destination for anyone interested in Viking history. This is a large Viking graveyard dating from 600 to 1000 as, with burial mounds for many, including a number of warriors interred with ships. Only a statical glitch during the ice age saved it as the entire site was buried and thereby preserved.
The museum is very nice and worthwhile. Definitely visit and pay the fee to support the site.
Recommended, only a few minutes outside Aalborg. Easy to get to and ample parking.
Wayne Tucker — Google review
I never knew what a viking burial was like until I visited Lindholm Hoje. It's amazing to me how old these graves are. The museum was cool to visit and larger than I expected. I came close to closing time so I didn't explore as much of it as I would have otherwise.
Mariah Schimon — Google review
The big surprise here was the large medieval burial ground on the hill close to the museum. Before they were birthed, the most significant people were burnt on a wood bed encircled by stones.
The museum was very well organised and also worth a visit.
Christer Sandahl — Google review
We where there on a rainy day. It is a great exhibition. The exhipition is in Danish, English and German.

A place with interesting tourist infrastructure, a lot of places for barbecues, to eat, to relax. Unfortunately, on Friday after 4 pm, life dies there. Interesting small dinosaur park. A small yet special zoo with well cared for animals. Good for children with a great playground, as well as food for adults. The bus is easy and convenient.
Ewen McPhee — Google review
It was a wonderful experience to be able to visit the zoo with our dog! They must of course go always on-leash, and some areas are off-limits (like the tigers/lions area and children playground) but it's great to be able to spend a nice day with them. You can see several families walking around with their dogs. Inside the zoo there are several "dog bars" where they can drink water. The zoo itself is nice, the animals look well kept and clean (it's not depressing as other zoos we've visited). Adult tickets cost DKK 210 in the summer, DKK 125 for children (3-11 y/o), and students can get a discount and pay DKK 168. During winter it costs DKK 190 for adults, DKK 105 children and DKK 152 for students. If you go by car you can park nearby for free; otherwise you can get there easily by bike or bus. You can also buy food inside but there are not so many options, mainly pizza and burgers, but there's also the option to bring your own food and grill it there for free (this is not available on winter).
Ana Vica — Google review
Excellent zoo. Easy to walk around with strollers, toddlers and seniors. Animals are well cared for and appear to have adequate accommodation.
Explore the Thingbæk Chalk Mines, located under the Rebild Center, where you can venture into manmade limestone caves and witness a unique sculpture museum. The underground experience offers a glimpse of hibernating bats and maintains a cool temperature even in summer. Above ground, visitors can enjoy an exhibit space with scenic views of Rold Skov forest. The surrounding area boasts lush green hills and enchanting forests, providing a picturesque backdrop for this historical site.

A wonderful experience. Participants are working as if they are in ancient viking times. Experience includes mead making, animal tanning, food cooking/preparing, seeing and such. They are dressed in traditional wear and there are houses designated to each are of living in viking times. There are mead tastings occasionally we have been told but not when we went. There is howevwr a gift store at the entrance that you can purchase mead and other souvenirs.
CMB Caspanello — Google review
It is interesting but could use more information boards closer to the site- all were before you entered. The recreated house is dark so, perhaps a video with some of the excavations, and the items moved to the museums. Some posting of various theories about the location and discussion of changes in the water level impact could be helpful/interesting. Even connections to similar locations around the world. To look only, there is a dark building, a round berm and cement dots. We were fortunate to have a private guide. A bakery/sandwich place even to allow people to stay a bit and consider the location after coming from a distance. The frozen ice cream bars were a nice treat!

Definately worth the visit. Very athmospheric and the "villagers" come to you and ask if you wanna know something. Very nice people with lots of knowledge. If you don't talk to anyone and just walk through it's a pretty short experience though.

Went here as part of our tour. It was a great experience. They recreated a little viking village with different house to visit to learn about viking life. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Highly recommend Visiting the Viking ruins was like stepping back into history. The ancient structures offer a glimpse into Viking life, enhanced by staff in character demonstrating traditional practices. This blend of education and immersive storytelling makes for an awe-inspiring experience, perfect for those keen on exploring history in a unique way

A nice place for kids and adults. The Vikingecenter Fyrkat consists of the historic ringfort Fyrkat and the Viking Farmstead, which is 9 reconstructed houses, that together constitute a large Viking property. In the farmstead there are playgrounds, activities for childrens and an exhibition. You can reach the ringfort with a short 15 min walk.

Excellent spot for a stop! one of the "Vikings" there showed us games and we had a lot of fun playing! there's a really big playground around aswell, everything is maintained very well and you get to try a lot of different things like pottery or even melting sand to glass!

I loved the reinactment of this place. I learned allot from the chief and his wife but also from some slaves they got there ;). The reallife viking fortress was amazing to see, the size of it is baffling. (And then I did not even see the one in Trelleborg)
one of our favorite places here in Denmark for us. We visit it regularly and have a good restaurant too.
The therapeutic effect of pool salt is very good💯

Great museum. We really learned interesting things about salt, got to see how it is made (live demo) and could even swim in a pool with saturated salt water. This is great center, with a good shop to buy gifts in and very friendly employees.

Nice museum, not to big but a lot of things to do and see. You can even make / collect you own salt from seawater.

Amazing place with lots of activities and beautiful views
Sukhmeet Singh — Google review
Too expensive and everything is in Danish... The pool is cool, but looks extremely small! The layout is weird, it just doesn't know what it wants to be. So many ugly cinema chairs, a play corner for kids and much more in 20m2 while horribly put together... The salt mine itself isn't even a mine, it's a cheap horribly put together theme park ride that takes not even 5 minutes of your time. And everything is in control of 2 uninterested 14 year olds...
Don't recommend going here at all.
Job van der Neut — Google review
Very nice place but incredibly noisy in the pool. You'll think it is a quiet place where you can relax.. it isn't. People can talk loudly or even yell and they do not care whatsoever. Not a place for you if you want to relax.
San Jo (SanJo) — Google review
The salt bath was nice. Likewise the café. The museum and the "mine tour" was a mediocre way of keeping the kids occupied while the parents are bathing.
Kristoffer Thyregod — Google review
An incredible "salt processing" approach!
Over the years I have seen/worked in various salt production facilities-- including mining, evaporation of sea water, etc. But the approach used in Mariager and environs is nothing short of amazing- when views from a "Creative Perspective"! About 5 kms (3 miles) from Mariager there is a "huge salt rock"-- measuring about 60 cubic meters -- at current use it will last another 21,000 years!!
Small amounts of the "rock salt" are dissolved in water and transported by pipeline to the facility and interesting displays located on Mariager's port. There heat removes the water- thereby producing salt. The facility- opened about 20 years ago- has many displays, tells a story about salt production and also displays many salt based products (which are available for purchase). There is also a warm "salt water pool" which may produce health benefits. The associated restaurant serves "pleasant food"!
I hope that this Review has been helpful!
Viborg Cathedral, a Romanesque-style religious structure, has been around since the 12th century and boasts two towers as well as noteworthy frescoes. It is a breathtakingly beautiful edifice that can easily rival Notre Dame in Paris. As an iconic landmark of Viborg, one of Denmark's oldest towns, it allows visitors to climb its towers for a small fee.
A must visit if you're in Viborg. They have two crypts underground which you shouldn't miss. The art work is quite lovely but the highlights of the place are the beautiful lamps. The giant candelabra is beautiful as well

Quite possibly the most visually stunning cathedral I've had the pleasure of entering. Absolutely beautiful and rich in history and spiritual inspiration. Be sure to also enter their bell tower and small museum.

I was christened there in 1951 and I visit the church more times every year. I always attend the 5th September service (Veterans' Day) if at home. Remember the towers and the crypt if open for visitors when you are there.

Beautiful place. Doesn't have much less than Notre Dame in Paris. The icon of Viborg, one the oldest towns in Denmark.
It's nice that they let you climb the towers.
There's a 10 Dkk fee to enter, I would prefer not to pay entry for sacred and holy places.

Very different in style from what I'm used to in Italy. Still a lot of to see and explore. I love to guess why an artist chooses a particular Bible story to tell via paintings.
Ishuset Dollerup Bakker is a must-visit spot in the summer, offering breathtaking views of Dollerup Bakker's beautiful scenery, including a large freshwater lake and wooded areas where you might even catch a glimpse of wild horses. The friendly staff at the ice cream house serve up a great selection of ice creams, along with savory and sweet treats. It's an ideal place to take a break after exploring the nature trails or hiking in the area.
Fantastic view over Dollerup Bakker, great ice-cream, coffee, chocolate etc. as well as basic fastfood. Tables outside to sit and enjoy the sun with a view.
Very reasonable prices.

Beautiful scenery with a backdrop of the large freshwater lake and the gorgeous wooded area. You might even see wild horses. Friendly staff in the ice cream house. Grest selection of ice creams and they also have bathroom facilities. A great place to stop and rest after a walk or hike in the nature.

Really pleasantly surprised with how fun this museum was. I took my two kids, who are 9 & 11 and they absolutely loved it there! There are so many activities that you don’t have time to get bored. Very interactive and educative. It costs 110dkk to get in but for 130dkk you can get a season pass, so it was a no brainer! Already looking forward to going back as we didn’t have time to try everything after our 4 hour visit!

Randers Regnskov is a popular tourist attraction, featuring glass rainforest domes with adventure trails and rope bridges. The zoo's temperature remains consistently warm, between 20C to 30C, allowing visitors to enjoy the tropical environment throughout the year. The enclosures house crocodiles, monkeys, manatees, pythons, iguanas and an array of rainforest flora and fauna such as orchids and hibiscus.
Fantastic day, saw some amazing animals, birds and reptiles. The areas are all different and great for adults and children, swing bridge , ropes and different levels so you can see the animals. Outside great pathways guide you to the different attractions. One of the best zoos I've seen.
Sue Wyles — Google review
Mostly indoor zoo with a tropical theme. Close contact with a lot of animals is possible. The animals seem well treated and the enclosures are big enough. The outside area is under development, when we visited hardly any animals were visible. Temperature inside is high. Facilities are fine. Enough parking available for a fair price.
Jeroen Haex — Google review
It's a good place to hangout with family. They have arranged the zoo quite good in particular the african tropical zoo. However, the outdoor part of the zoo showcasing hyena and all was not that good perhaps it might be off season when i went there.
fayyaz pocker — Google review
The most interactive zoo we have ever experienced - being right next to most animals (even snakes, if you dare to enter) without a barrier was definitely spectacular. Took selfies with a sloth a meter away - did not get to do it even in Latin America. Bats and monkeys flying and jumping around you surely made it fun 🤩
The outdoor areas are also very cool with hyenas, lynx, boars and domestic animals among others.
Laurynas Dailide — Google review
Fun indoor jungle zoo with two major dooms. Lots of greenery, fun paths to explore and free roaming monkeys, birds, snakes and butterflies. Ample parking outside building. Restaurant and gift shop. Seating area at end of one doom for bringing your own food.

This is my favorite place in Denmark!
And I have lived in Denmark about 12 years, both in Aarhus and Copenhagen. I have been there 4 times so far.
For anyone who likes animals, this place is great. You get to walk in between the animals, not like in a zoo where it feels artificial and boxed in.
It is also fantastic for kid of ALL ages!
Boris Borisov — Google review
Nicely done and good close-up views of the animals. Given the mix of outdoor sceneries in cold October and indoor 30 degrees 100% humidity areas, I find their attitude with lockers that require new payment every time you open and close them quite unfriendly towards the visitors.

Family friendly surroundings and very a nice experience for the children.
Various areas with different geographical topics. There's a large area outside with both animals and playgrounds.
The food you can buy could be priorized to become way better. It's just fries and soulless burgers and the a like.

Fun place to visit. There are many species to see and the ineractiveness of the layout adds to experience. On the downside, there are areas that are quite narrow and there are lot of people. Sometimes you can find yourself just standing in a long queue

The Memphis Mansion is a venue that contains a vast collection of Elvis memorabilia and features an American diner that serves the King's favorite meal. The museum houses various beautiful memories that keep the legacy of Rock'n'Roll alive. The restaurant, designed in the 60s, is well-maintained and clean, serving delicious food. The friendly staff communicates in English fluently, making it easy for visitors to enjoy their experience.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The museum was also truly amazing not only because it is nearly identical to the original one but also because of the things you can see that Elvis has worn or used. I can also suggest the burgers at the restaurant👌

Very good copy of the Memphis estate. The Museum had a huge variation of beautiful memories which keeping the King of Rock'n'Roll "still alive". The attached restaurant was designed in the 60's and was clean and well maintained. The food we ordered, was very well prepared and tasted delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful, communicating in English was not a problem for the staff, almost a matter of course. I will be happy to come back on my next visit to Randers.

Tasteful Elvis tribute and tasty selection of American dishes. Wonderful and accurate tribute on beautiful and spacious restaurant property. The gates leading into the restaurant are good replicas of those at Graceland. It includes a replica of Elvis' childhood home.

99% of the exhibition is in danish, no english, no german. This is strange, because this museum attracts tourists from all around the area. So we ended up looking at clothes from Elvis and other persons... a bit too expensive for such a poor experience. Even the brand new Johnny Cash add-on museum in the backyard from 2022 doesn't have many english texts. How often do they think a local danish person would visit this museum? Maybe this whole thing is only for burning money of the founder... or this is his own Elvis worship temple? We didn't get it.
Moritz Steuernagel — Google review
If you're a true Elvis fan, then this place is an absolute goldmine. There's some really interesting items here to be seen. However for the general public popping in out of curiosity it seems a tad overpriced for the amount there is to see. The size of the mansion, gives the impression there will be so much more, but much of it seems reserved for functions and events.

Museum Jorn in Silkeborg is a unique art museum that focuses on the Danish artist Asger Jorn and displays changing exhibitions of modern art from around the world. The collection is impressive, featuring representative samples from Jorn's entire production. AQUA Aquarium & Wildlife Park is a small yet charming establishment that showcases Danish habitats through its interactive aquarium and park, featuring various native animals and nature exhibitions. The environment is cozy and geared towards children with an excellent playground that includes educational water machines. In addition to the fish, visitors can also see otters, beavers, and other cute animals in the mini zoo area. The premises also offer food options at their cafe.
Super cozy and kids friendly environment. It's not as big as other aquariums but has plenty to offer. Apart from the fishes there are otters and beavers, etc. There is an excellent playground with educational water machines. Also cafe and food available on the premises. Overall I loved it.

Amazing experience!
Instead of going and seeing the standard 'zoo setup', use the experience to see what cute creatures and other animals are living in the forests, rivers here in Europe.
Easy to get there, by car or train (I travelled from Aarhus by train). Tickets cost cheaper if bought online and I suggest visiting the centre in morning, around 10:00 then the animals haven't had their breakfast yet and are more active and visible.
Timewise - and hour is enough, in case you are in rush, if not, then you can enjoy the park for longer time, there was a space dedicated for children and areas where you can sit down and rest for a while, if needed.
Recommend!

Great place to visit especially with young children. That said we visited (2 parents and 3 older children) during a very wet and windy day in July.
There are many creatures to see and opportunities to see them fed.

It is an amazing visit, lots of cool aquatic animals, otters were my highlight. There are other animals too, a goat petting zone, and there was a fish petting zone, it was super cool. Apart from that there is a pretty good maintained kids play area and lots of stuff to do, one can easily spend half a day here if coming with kids. Oh and you see those deer with fangs - kind of vampire deer I guess. I was super happy with the amount of species I got to see, as I am not from Europe, I had never seen most of these. I totally recommend going there if you are around Silkeborg.

I LOVE going to Aqua and so does my kids. We love looking at the animals in very nice and natural enclosures.
It makes you feel a lot better about these places, when you can see that they are clearly being cared for and that an effort has been made, to ensure they have as natural as enclosure as possible.
Also, the waterplaypark is a mega hit during summer.
Only downside is that there is very little food on offer and very little that actually suits kids and toddlers. A menu that actually reflected that it was a place where kids come, would make this a 5 instead of a 4.

Great place for a family trip or if you want to learn something about the Danish nature. We had a very skilled and interesting guide giving us a tour of the whole place.
Rides & attractions including a water park, plus accommodation options; open Apr to Oct.
It has a few small drawbacks, such as it's erratic opening days which are designed to keep the place as full as possible. But it's a great place to spend a day or two out. Really good rides for all ages and the staff are excellent, especially by Danish standards. I've been here many times and they are always making additions and keeping the place clean etc.
NOTE: Those from outside scandinavia will need to understand that some rides etc are not attended by staff and require a degree of responsibility and comon sense on your part. This is normal here but was a bit weird for me when I first came across it.

We were visiting Fredericia Denmark on a cruise and decided to rent a car to visit Djurs and we are very glad we did! This is a world class amusement park with a great selection of rides and coasters in Denmark. It’s a beautifully landscaped and maintained park with many up to date rides, a huge selection of food offerings, cute characters throughout the park and even a place where you can make your own bread over an open fire - how cool is that! What really makes this park special is how friendly everyone who works here is. Service levels were very “Disney-ish” throughout the park, which is amazing. I can’t wait to come back!

Fun place to spend the day at with your family, at least if you're young or young at heart when it comes to the adults. :p
Everything is easy to find and access and prices aren't too crazy. You're also able to buy refillable soda for the entire day, though I wish they had actual water instead of sugar water or aspartame sweetened beverages... Even at the buffet we ate at you couldn't get water unless you asked the staff for some tap water.. Though water was available in the beverage shops around the area at least. Eventually I found out people were refilling water bottles at the restroom, which had ice cold water. Recommend if you want to save money. ^^
Rides were run, ranging from wild to tame, so there's something for everyone, though I wish a few of them would loop at least once since they did feel a bit short at times.
Staff seemed to do their job well, too.

The Botanical Gardens in Aarhus, Denmark have Greenhouses themed to 4 different climate zones. The Greenhouses are popular for public outreach, events and education with a cafe, shop and educational facilities on site. This place is an old favourite. A real gem in Aarhus. Located in the botanical gardens, in a walking distance from the harbor and bordering on the old city. The entrance is free, there is a very reasonably priced cafeteria and shop inside. The greenhouses are heated and maintain a tropical and desert climate all year around. Beautifully built, there is a nice collection of plants on exhibition. The personnel at work there are students I believe, and so presumably knowledgeable. There is also an interactive app which we did not try yet. It's a beautiful and peaceful place to take a break from the hustle of town and a nice alternative option for a coffee meeting. Recommended with and without children.

The greenhouses and the park and maintained so well with a huge variety of plants. They have plants from all over the world as well as Danmark endemic.
All signs and explanations are given also in English. And they provide more information using their App. Take the spiral staircase up into the tree house and enjoy the view. Lovely to have butterflies flying around you, there. Did I mention that it is absolutely free (no admission fee)? Nice coffee shop, too. Wow, what a great spot in Aarhus!

A small yet very cute greenhouse. They have a lot of interesting plants but I think my absolute favourite is the last room - it’s like a tropical forest, but with loads and loads of cute butterflies. It’s free to enter too, so there is no reason not to go!

Wonderful greenhouses full of unique plants from all over the world. The tropical biome is the star of the show. Entrance is free and they have lockers (also free) for bags and jackets.

Try to get inside the dome. It's free but the place is still very nice. There are butterflies flying around like you were in a real tropical forest. I like the way they arrange the space into different continents/countries as well. It's quite a nice place for kids to explore. The garden outside is also very very beautiful. In the summer, there are a lot of young people and families gathering here.

Den Gamle By is a vast open-air museum in central Denmark that recreates life in a small market town during the time of Hans Christian Andersen. The attraction features 75 period houses and hosts a large cast of "re-enactors." It is a fun day out for history buffs who can explore the attractions's living snapshots of Danish social history from the 18th, 19th and 20 centuries.
Wow, this was by far one the best museum we visited in Europe! I am not a museum person but I really enjoyed this experience. I loved the different time periods like 70's, 20's and 1700-1800's. They even had people dressed up for those time periods. I think they missed the mark on merchandise. I would have had more Renaissance type things to buy. The gift shop needs better merch. The bakery was delicious! This place is a must see!

An open air museum that has a combination of real shops and crops. It contains recreation of buildings from different eras and working class and displays what Denmark cities used to look like. Quite beautiful. Renovations are currently happening for 2023, and will have new entrances and the more 1950s Denmark. Recommend to go and see the telephone store to see a real working olden day telephone! This museum is worth a visit!

Den Gamle By in a cool spot to visit in Aarhus. It’s like walking onto a movie set of an old Danish town. I loved popping into the little shops and houses and the museums, you really get a feel for what life was like back in the day. It’s perfect for a chill but educational day out, whether you're with family or just hanging with friends. I would go more often if the entrance fee was lower!

A wonderful exhibition of Danish life through the ages. Very educational and happy to see that so many beautiful original buildings have been carefully disassembled and reassembled at this location in order to preserve the wonderful architecture and history.
Very interesting that the newer 1970s section is used to help those with Alzheimer’s. My son was so excited about the hi-fi stereo shop and repair store. Had an wonderful chat and education from the two gentlemen working there.
If you want to really take it all in, you probably need 1 1/2 days to truly explore everything.
Must see!!

What a place! I was already excited before I went but I was even more impressed during my visit. It still exceeded my high expectations. I visited during the week and it must be even more exciting on weekends. There were a few people dressed up but it is incredible how the houses and buildings are very well preserved and give you an incredible accurate impression of how life was in the past. Some shops are still manned by staff and are used as real shops. It's an incredible experience. Many people had their dogs also. I didn't eat there but will do next time. It's a MUST to visit when in Aarhus. Fantastic!
Franco Migliorati — Google review
This is an open air museum where houses and shops from different periods have been recreated with care. They have bakery shops where you can have a snack and coffee (the cakes and goodies available must also be from yesteryear..:)); a garden where you can buy flowers and herbs; horses and buggy drivers; etc
Will suit children or people not brought up and exposed in or exposed to older European architecture and culture. But if you have been all you might need is a quick gander through before heading to the next of Aarhus’ many museums.

Great places to see and understand the history of Denmark and how old danish life was during 70’s, 80’s and now. They have different zones with different decades. We got a wonderful guide who explained all the historical details nicely and as a story. Had a short trip around this but definitely will take a day or half a day to cover all the houses and details.
Recommend place to visit and experience the old life of danish people.
They have a restaurant with danish specific foods.

Situated in the heart of Aarhus, this open air museum (set in 3 distinct time periods) is a great way to spend a few hours. Easy to find and to park nearby, it is a fascinating look at Danish life in the 1700s, 1920s, and 1970s.
Genuinely interesting and packed with things to see. Well worth a visit

Great place to visit and dig into the Danish history. Very pleasant walk around the old buildings, which you can explore inside as well. It is nicely organised and child friendly with lots of activities for them. We spent almost 3 hours there and still did not see everything we wanted.

This place is a must go. It's an outdoor attraction with buildings from different ages and tells you a little about the history from each time. It's a great place to go with friends, family, couple or even alone. Adults pays around 190dkk if I am not wrong and kids are free.
Accessibility: I didn't see any elevator, must buildings have only stairs and not all streets are wheelchair "friendly" so I might be a challenge.
Language: most people from the food courts and others services speaks English
Food: they have some options like hot dog, pizza, a danish traditional restaurant, ice cream
Toilets: there are many toilets around the establishment and they are clean
In general, is a great experience
Bonus: they have a carriage tour and is worth it to pay more (100dkk) to go around the Botanical Garden instead of only paying 50dkk to go around the streets inside Old Town

We had an exceptional experience at Dem Gammel by Visit, and the old brewery was the spotlight for me. The gentle brewer's kindness and attentiveness made us all warm and welcomed. He walked us through the entire brewing process, allowing us to savor different types of beer—an amazing and educational experience. Purchasing the beer cup for 20 kronas opened the door to unlimited feast as I tasted freshly brewed beer. Plus, the festive Christmas atmosphere outside added to the overall delight. It was, without a doubt, a great and delicious visit.

Takes you back to a past era with houses from the 18th Century. It was worth going. Found some geese shouting and trying to get food from the people there. That was fun.

Fun and interesting museum, documenting life in Denmark throughout the years. There are things from 2014, the 70-80ies and all the way back to the 1600’s. Great fun for both adults and kids. The only thing that was less than ideal was the looong line to get in and that some of the people working on serving lunch seemed a bit unexperienced, but other than that it’s a perfect place to visit in Aarhus.

What a great trip.
We went there because a local guy in a fish store had telling us about it.
Great journey through the different years and really great buildings and decorations.
Everything is looking really nice and you can go inside in some buildings.
Great experience, I would recommend a visit on a weekday, and plan about 4-5 hours.
If I went to Denmark again, I will come back.

Located in Aarhus Denmark. A fantastic snapshot of life in Denmark over 100's of years on a truly grand scale.
Real buildings that have been removed from their original locations and set in place in zoned areas depending on their time in history. There is a complete street with shops from the 1970's filled with relevant products and some even with actual staff. Along with all the buildings filled with historic items there are things going on all of the time. A group of women washing clothes by a stream, young boys carrying water from the village well, horses and carriages, a vintage car driving along a cobbled street. There are hundreds of exhibitions and there are also info boards with info in both Danish and English. You'll have no problem communicating as the Danish are brilliant English speakers.
Food and drink is easily available, there are plenty of toilets. Not all areas are accessible to wheelchair users or those with impaired mobility but nevertheless there is much to see.
You'll need a minimum of 4 hours here, you could easily spend the day and not see it all.
We had an amazing time and would thoroughly recommend

I do love this place. I can say that this is my favorite open-museum in the world. Things are presented in different attractive ways. Let us interact with a particular exhibited item. Enjoy and have so much fun. I can stay here the entire day or two days if have time more. Worth to visit.
ARoS Aarhus Art Museum is a world-renowned art museum located in the heart of Aarhus, Denmark. With an impressive collection spanning 300 years, the museum is home to some of the most iconic works of Danish modernist and abstract art. Including paintings from the 1800s, the Danish Golden Age of modernism, and works from more recent decades, ARoS Aarhus is a must-see for anyone visiting Aarhus.
Great Museum! It proves definitely that modern art does not have to be boring and strange, but can be beautiful, inspiring and a great experience.
The Vertigo exhibition was really exceptional. The many projections of dancing people, together with the music really gave me the feeling of being totally emerged in the project.
Also the dried plant exhibition was really impressive. Read the text next to the plants.

Aesthetically speaking, this is definitely a wonderful place to visit. The museum is a great place to explore, and has so many unique experiences and exhibitions that every time we come back, it's completely different. As its quite small, you can explore all of the different exhibits in a few hours, which means that when you're with kids you're not completely drained. The rainbow gives some amazing photo opportunities, just make sure to visit when it's bright outside for the best effect!
Sam Caesar — Google review
Great Museum from the outside.
The rainbow circle at the top looks great, and it is very entertaining, probably the highlight of the museum, something to remember.
If you are under 31 years old, you pay 145 Dkk which is a fair price.
Interesting modern art exhibitions in the inside but nothing spectacular, I must say. Some of the floors are not really part of the museum since there are closed restaurants or library or workshop areas which can't be visited.
If you are in Aarhus, it's definitely worth visiting this museum, but I would not travel to Aarhus to see it.

This might be one of my favorite museums I’ve ever visited...and I’m not a huge museum person. By far this was my favorite museum in Denmark— the architecture, for one, was beautiful, and of course the rainbow panorama lived up to the hype and was a joy to walk around. But the real stars of the show were all of the exhibits on each of the floors— every single one of them I was intrigued by, and major props to the museum curators because they are slaying. There is truly something here for everyone!

I love this Cultural Art Museum. We had 2 Kids with us today. And they could walk around them self if they wanted, to se what they would. There is so much different exhibitions for All of us and we get a lot inspiration with us. The covid-19 restrictions were good and the most guest followed them. We'll be back. ✨🙌

A lot of exhibitions under one roof. It's all skewing a little bit too modern for my taste, so I really loved the exhibition showing various aspects of "human nature" portrayed through 200 years of painting. The rooftop rainbow installation is deeply fascinating and a must-see.

So so lucky to be staying so close to this incredible art museum!! Do not miss the incredible installations on the bottom floor that will transport you to other worlds, the BIG boy, and the rainbow walkway on the rooftop. The cafe and gift shop are lovely too!

Very accessible and clearly locally popular modern art institute. The rainbow panorama is a very special experience. It was lovely during sunset in early evening when it's not busy. Very good museum shop. The collection of my Danish artists, and local painting was interesting, as were the different changing exhibitions.

Looks good on the outside with the rainbow structure on top but entrance fee way too expensive in my honest opinion. 20 pounds for art that I can’t appreciate. Very niche tourist attraction. Shop and toilets are good though.

ARoS is a great contemporary art museum that constantly refreshes its exhibitions every 3-6 months. The highlight is undoubtedly the rainbow installation, "Your rainbow panorama" by Ólafur Elíasson, offering breathtaking views over Aarhus. Currently featuring works by Annette Messager, Susan Philipz, Ron Mueck, and Erró, alongside the intriguing permanent collection, ARoS promises an engaging experience. Personally, I was captivated by the "Boy" in the "Far from Home" exhibition.

An art museum holding various exhibitions that will likely take you hours to complete. No backpacks nor big bags are allowed to be brought into the exhibitions. There is a locker area next to the ticket purchase to store your belongings before entering the exhibition floors.
Would recommend taking the elevator up to the top floor and then working your way down if it isn't too busy. Otherwise, going up one floor at a time, then take the elevator back down.

Amazing and beautiful museum! A must visit place in Aarhus for sure!
I bought the ticket some days before and it was perfect because when I arrived there was a long queue to buy a ticket.
The museum have beautiful and interesting exhibitions.
Dokk1 is an architectural beauty by Aarhus harbor that houses the citys library. It is much more than a library, with an impressive modern design and stunning views of the harbor.
If you are in town with small kids, this is the place to go! So many great indoor and outdoor playgrounds for kids 0-3 years and older. We spent there a lot of time during our stay in Aarhus with our 7-months old baby. You could spend a whole day here with the public library a cafe and many other things to do and explore.

The pictures don’t do it enough justice. One of the best libraries I have been especially with the play areas and children friendliness. The place was clean and had different activities to entertain children of all ages. I was very impressed by the stroller parking lot with the directional twist. I highly recommend this for families. We could have easily spent the whole day here
Joseph Yamoah — Google review
I would not recommend students in the library to come and study for their tests or exams. All people that try to concentrate and work try as much as possible to escape from the chaos and noise of the children. Despite there being designated children's areas, kids run around in the quiet study spaces and scream.
There is very little respect for people that are actually working there. I've tried to work there a few times, as it has the potential to be a wonderful flexible workspace! Some days were better than others. But without clear rules, students might as well study at any random intersection in the city, where there will be less noise :)

Apart from the fact that there is access to a wonderful library, study room, high-tech exhibitions, spaces where you can have a coffee with friends, underground parking, etc... for me, it is the most beautiful view of the sea.
The Moesgaard Museum, located 10km south of the city, is a modern museum that showcases exhibits covering human and ancestral history. The museum's unique design slopes out of the ground and has won numerous awards. One of its main attractions is the Grauballe Man, a well-preserved body discovered in 1952 in Grauballe village.
AMAZING museum with a lot of technical and visual information! I really adore it. Take your time when going there. You spend a lot of hours there cause especially the basic exhibitions are so well designed and detailed.
Before going check definitely the opening times cause some days it closes a little early.

The location is spectacular !
The presentation of the exhibitions is incredible, there is clearly a lot of efforts put into this Museum.
And we were lucky to come at a time where is was pretty much empty, which made it a lot more enjoyable.
However it's pretty expensive, a bit repetitive and definitely lacks some interactiveness.

This is an awesome museum to visit.
Don’t forget to allocate enough amount of time for the visit as the exhibition is very immersive and informative. There is massive amount of information and details to take in if you have time.
It has a nice restaurant to help rest and recharge during your visit.

Museum located on the outskirts of Aarhus. It can be reached with a bus. The views of the museum both in summer and winter are spectacular and it is very beautiful. The attention to the public is very good and the museum is interesting if you like Danish culture and history. However, I thought that the museum would be bigger. In 2-4 hours you can visit it completely.

Lots of interactive elements in the exhibitions and can easily spend 3-4 hours here. On Wednesday nights, this opena to 9pm! The famous Grauballe Man is interesting make sure you watch the documentary before hand and also the Vikings from the East has great history and replicas. Don't forget to go to the top to see the view! Highly recommend!

Set in a lovely area about 30 minutes (by No 18 bus) outside the city. It catered well for English speakers and was really interesting in a typucal museum way, ie lots of: artifacts; written and audio information and some interesting animations. Very easy to get to as it's 1 end of the bus line.
Travel note: we have rejsekorts (travel cards) bought in Copenhagen, which work here too, so if you plan to use buses and trains in Denmark, they're definitely worth getting

I included this museum on my list of the best ones. It's fascinating to see how humanity has evolved over the years—through stone, bronze, and iron ages. I particularly enjoyed the Egyptian exhibition. Plan to spend at least half a day exploring it.
Sertaç Aldüz — Google review
A really big and full museum. It has a huge collection of artifacts from Denmark, organised in chronological order on displays and exhibitions, starting from the stone age up to the medieval. You need about 2-3 hours to tour yourself around. In addition, a nice temporary exhibition was available for the collapse of the Roman empire due to the arrival of the people from the East "Out of chaos". Plan also for some extra time in order to check this brilliant building from the outside and especially explore the views that the roof garden provides.
Nikos Gkekas — Google review
Interactive history. Definitely worth a visit once in a while. The permanent exhibition takes quite some time if you’re trying to follow the stories and timeline. We’ve also seen 3 of the main temporary ones that really impressed us: The Day Of The Dead, about Mexican (and international) traditions honoring/celebrating the lives of people no longer with us; Out of Chaos (from the Roman Empire to aprox. 600 AD) where, among others, we’ve seen some of the famous Romanian treasures (Closca cu Puii de Aur) and more recently about Egyptian life and death traditions.
It is also kids-friendly, with lots of interactive stories or learn-by-playing points.

Another very interesting museum if you like history and anthropology. History of mankind with a twist - including that of Aarhus during the Viking Age. The museum is divided into the different ages which you can enjoy. Just a few photos as teasers. Loads of outdoor space for children to run around as well. One of the few museums that have free lockers.
Elaine Camilleri — Google review
It's a museum of natural history and evolution. It's good for a one-time visit. I dislike it because it's not my vibe BUT my friend really enjoyed it so it's a subjective rating! It's got exhibitions about the Vikings era, religion, and anything in between.
Diana Moldovan — Google review
This museum is fantastic. The presentation of the exhibition "The life of the dead* is very beautiful. The lighting, the atmosphere, the pieces, all very enjoyable. It made us talk about death with the children in a more spiritual meaning rather than the fear of losing someone. The question we got from them due to this exhibition were different than the normal "death" questions children normally have. 10/10!
But we loved the stone age exhibition the most. The diorama's were so good, the story telling was well done, the presentation blew my mind. As an adult I was immerged in this world as well as our children.
Bronze, Viking, middle ages were all very very well presented. The "keys" in the viking age is an interesting take to bring us the different stories. The mannequins are so life like it's almost scary.
The price is good for the experience. Coffee, cola and four things to eat was the same price as tickets. A bit on the expensive side, but it was tasteful and good.
Recommended for sure! Go if you have the chance!
Our kids are 9 and 13 and did not want to go, we left with kids talking and talking and talking about all the things the museum presented.
Fregatten Jylland is a restored wooden warship from 1860, featuring both sail and steam power. It offers exhibitions and events for kids, making it an ideal family destination. The ship is located along a scenic path leading towards the harbor, with summer being the best time to visit despite the windy weather. Visitors can enjoy a bar set up in the area during this season, providing opportunities for community singing and picnics.
A lovely experience. I gave a good idea of how life might have been on board 150 years ago. Good story telling. The vastness of the ship was breathing taking. Really enjoyed and we went back one more time just to make sure we did not miss anything! ❤️

Fregatten Jylland is located just smack on the beachfront of Ebeltoft. As a museum it offers a great insight into the design and layout of a classic fighting vessel of its era. The museum also offers a great narration of how the life was aboard and they do a great job at entertaining a younger audience with various challenges in and around the ship.
The entirety of the old ship is fully accessible to be explored, just watch your head, my 193cm of height would have made me a giant in their time and also watch how you use the steps and ladders, there were different safety standards in their time.
No exterior or interior photos from me unfortunately, just a few muesum shots.

Beautiful very nicely restored 19th c. Danish warship with great exhibition. There is small museum with a shop at the entrance. I wasn't sure what to expect. But it's a very nice museum, a lot of consideration of details has flown into the setup and the exhibition.
For example there are animated portraits of sailers who tell their stories (based on their dairies and letters).
There is a lot of entertainment for kids too. They get to wear sailor hats and can participate in different activities.
Also when do you get the chance to go on board of a freaking Fregatt...

If you are in the area make sure to go and spend at least half a day. Live firing happens twice a day, at noon and 3 pm. In between the kids can do a treasure hunt abord the the ship, build small boats, or experience the craftsmanship required to build a boat.

For old and young this is a good place to spend some hours if you’re in Ebeltoft.

There are a lot of good stories from the past to be told here.

The ship itself is impressively preserved, with many of the original fixtures and fittings still in place. From the cramped sailors' quarters to the imposing gun decks, every part offers a glimpse into life aboard a naval vessel of the era. The onboard exhibits and information boards are also well-done and provide a wealth of information about the ship's history and significance.
Glasmuseet Ebeltoft is a must-visit attraction in Ebeltoft, offering an impressive collection of modern international glass art. With over 1,500 works from artists around the world, the museum showcases various uses, formats, perspectives, and techniques of glass. Visitors can explore multiple exhibitions alongside a remarkable permanent collection. The friendly staff provides insightful explanations and curations to enhance the experience.
Great museum and workshop with daily glass blowing all year round, something we found hard to find during the summer. Stunning artwork on display and friendly staff and artists. The museum lies on the waters edge with a excelent view acros the bay.

I think the adults enjoyed it more than the kids, which is to be expected with small kids. The kids found most interesting the blowing of hot glass into a shape which happened outside of the main building. The glass room that gives the illusion that you could fall down was hilarious with my kids. Overall a nice time there.

Small expert museum worth visiting. Friendly staff and service, central location with free parking. Couple of exhibitions at a time, not forgetting their permanent collection that is amazing. Exhibitions showcase glass in so many different uses, formats, perspectives and techniques- curating and ”explanations” make it easier to digest. Upstairs/attic room video shows the various tehcniques and makes the pieces seen more understandable as well, so, highly recommended!

Very nice museum with a small collection of glass art.
The main attraction for families is the workshop where you can watch artists working on various designs.
Also, there are daily workproducts that children can produce (with assistance from the artists).

I very nice experience at this museum even though it looks more like an art gallery.
Nice works of glas and a big variety on the glass shop.
I had the chance to see the Master of glass work there so it made my journey to Danmark complete. Garden was also a part of the exhibition but it wasn't that "inviting" to sit or enjoy the weathe because of the very well cared grass and the artwork fount in it.
Very friendly staff and you noticed that they enjoy what they do.
Restaurant didn't have nothing special to stay or sit there even though the service was nice.

Fun experience. Impressive and funny pieces of glass art. You can also experience how they make glass art in the workshop. We had fun. Entrance price at the high end.

Nice glass works, nothing super spectacular though. However, the space room was absolutely amazing and so makes the museum completely worth a visit!

There were a lot of cool exhibitions and it was easy to walk around and look at them by yourself.
Great Service!!! She tolds me all about the place including the prison down under. Ebeltoft is very charming and shows so many different views in day, evening and night. The traffic lights are old and innthe evening the nightwatch is coming to sing.

The title "Smallest Town Hall in the World" does the former town hall of Ebeltoft no harm: the building that now houses the Museum Østjylland is one of the most popular sights of this pleasant town. The town hall, built in 1789, was in any case already too small for administrative tasks in 1840. After the 1906-09 restoration, which gave the building a 16th century half-timbered appearance, it became home to the Ebeltoft Museum (now Museum Østjylland).

Ebeltoft in general is a very nice place to spend a calm vacation with the family.

It's a beautiful, well preserved midtown. Very interesting to see how people have used the space creatively.

Beautiful historic building unfortunately too crowded outside during the summer season.

Beautiful spot and the nightwatchmen tradition adds historical depth.
