Pension Na Kovárně
Boarding house
We stayed on 19.11.2023, and it is a very beautiful 16th-century house that recently renovated . The room is very clean and tidy, provided with strong hot water for bathing. The breakfast is good with a lot of choices, even at low and not much customer, the owner also prepared scrambled egg and sausages for us and very tasty. The owner is very nice and helpful, The most important point is location , it is located at the entrance of the beautiful town and akso a short distance to the bus station, if you carry with large luggage it can avoid the difficulties to carry the luggage to pass through those rocky roads within the town.

We had a very nice time during our 2 nights stay at this inn from 5,Feb. this year. The owner is so helpful and welcoming. Everything we asked through WhatsApp they always do their best to help us. The tasty breakfast as well as its excellent location are also bonus for the pension. Sure is the best choice for you to stay in Cesky Krumlov!

I loved this place very much. It is really beautiful and the owners are very nice and friendly. Other than that, it is very clean and the food was very nice. I advise everyone to visit it. I came from Saudi Arabia and I am very grateful to them for their hospitality and warmth.

We decided to stay another night than expected, and couldn't extend our AirBnB, so we booked a room here just one day ahead of time. Cozy rooms, affordable pricing, and very responsive staff - even with the language barrier. The location is right at the entrance to the historic city center, and was incredibly convenient.

The red beach on Santorini is a popular destination for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling. The rocky shores make it unsuitable for swimming at high tide, but it's still a great spot to relax in the meantime.
Red Beach in Santorini is a must-see natural wonder. The striking red cliffs juxtaposed against the azure waters create a breathtaking scene. While getting there involves a short hike and the beach can get crowded, the unique beauty makes it an unforgettable destination.
Ajay Kumar — Google review
The water was very clear. ATV can park very close to the beach by the church. But walking to the beach must wear a shoe and not sandals. There's a sign with do not enter and risk of death because of falling rocks. It's a very beautiful place to visit.
DANNY CHAN — Google review
This beach is very crowded generally and very little space to sit plus half the beach is fenced off due to the danger of rocks falling down the cliff face. Also it’s not nice sand but small stones. If you just want a quick swim it’s fine
Kevin Gove — Google review
I went in the off season and hiked to the beach. The road is very rocky and there was no trailhead and in some places the internet didn't work. I wouldn't say it's worth a visit
Shafaq Kazmi — Google review
Very beautiful. But a lot of people is there, tons of boats are coming and staying.
Go early if you want to sit on a bed (30€) otherwise the ground what you get. You can't go close to the stone wall because there is a fence. Sometimes big waves are coming and all your stuff is getting vet and it slips away.
The bus stop is 20 min away by walk. Nice shops around and restaurants.
hermina kalko — Google review
It is dangerous to get there, seems like some rocks have recently felt over the beach. Lots of garbage all over the sand, no litters, and people leaving bottles and cans behind at the beach. In 10 minutes we filled a bag and there were some things that could fit in there.
Be responsible and take your own garbage, and if you cam, clean some.

We drove a Quad Bike to Akrotiri. Red Beach ~ One of the most famous beaches in Santorini 🧿
Lovely views from the top of the cliff , although it was quite pretty, but the rocky path was not safe and dangerous to walk around. It is advisable to prepare a pair of good walking shoes.
Reizl — Google review
Absolut tourist trap, Million of people where you can’t walk, water is good but next beach which is just a 5-10 min walk across a small hill are no people and much nicer water. Depends what you like, I prefer less crowded beaches…
Florian rockstroh — Google review
Water shoes are a must on this island! I do believe this beach is accessible to get to if you get on the beach tour boats that drop you off. If you do drive, be very careful on the way back from this beach. The roads are very windy and the drive is scenic but the drive back up the hill requires attention and an experienced driver. Hill down to the beach is 45% and the drive back up requires the AC to be shut off to allow to power the car to get up the hill (there are signs). Very beautiful beach however! Red and Black rocks are gorgeous with tons of colours throughout, unique beach to plant yourself at. 20euro for 2 chairs 1 umbrella but you can lay for free on the ground. Just please be careful on this adventure back can't stress enough. Our hotel manager was also surprised the beach was even open here because "it is unsafe and there is unpredictable land with the falling rocks". There are definately other beaches easier to get to. Once in a life time thrill experience that fear of not knowing if the car would make it back up the hill! Worth it though.
Sabrina Benoliel — Google review
A great spot for a dip in the sea against the backdrop of red cliffs, it's a 5 min hike from the nearest parking.
GuyZa — Google review
Not worthy. Beach is nothing special and potential risk of the rocks falling down.
Umbrella and sunbath 8 euros. Until 10 can worth visit it but after 10am is crowded with people and boats. Water becomes dirtier. Vlichada beach is better option! If you come by bus don’t loose your time to come to this beach.
Bojan K — Google review
Very unique beach. Its tucked behind a red rocky mountain with beautiful views if you climb a little up the mountain.
There is a small cafe in the middle of the beach that serves basic food & drink and you can purchase a luxury elevated beach bed for €20 or a basic beach bed on the ground level shore for €10.
I would definitely return here.
Adrian Gigliotti — Google review
Particular beach with red sand, and not a lot of space to stay.
Bring shoes and all equipment to do snorkeling because the sea is fantastic.
10 minutes by walk, no option, to go to the destination.
Roby R. — Google review
Nice beach with red volcanic sand.
Sometimes the waves mess the place up so there isn’t much space to sit. Make sure you grab a towel and you have some snacks. Also if you plan to go there you need an ATV or else get ready for a hell of a walk.
INRI NDOJ — Google review
Personally, we think the red beach is really majestic and beautiful when taken from a higher vantage point, or from the sea. It is really beautiful when you get to see the full view of the beach in its entirety. There is a small path from the beach where you can climb upwards to take this view. It also gives you a breathtaking view of the surrounding sea as well. The beach itself may be dangerous as there are warning signs of falling rocks and all.
Nahshon — Google review
Red sand beach is beautiful and unique. The water is clear. Parking around the point is free but a small hike away.
Patrick Zabinski — Google review
Such a amazing place and beautiful landscape.
You should be careful because the way to arrive is a bit dangerous if you are with flip flops, i recommend to take un umbrella bevause is veryyy hot🌅🌅🌅🌅🌅
Verene Vilchez — Google review
Super cool beach with a bit of a dodgy drive down, and apparently there are landslides here from time to time so it has an element of danger i suppose. Worth a quick visit whether you admire from a far or not
Ross Gilmour — Google review
Interesting beach with the red rock formations. Multiple warnings about falling rocks and the way there from the parking not the easiest. Beach is rocky so flip flops recommended. It is not very large and can get crowded but still a must for the views.

Sunset Oia is a tour agency that offers an unforgettable and enjoyable experience. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the trip. They provide well-prepared and generous portions of food and drinks to satisfy their customers' needs. The breathtaking views of the caldera are stunning, especially during sunset. While the hot springs may not be as warm as expected, they still offer a refreshing swim option. Packing layers for early spring trips is recommended due to colder temperatures on the water.
Amazing trip fully recommend this! Efficiently organised from start to finish. Boat was fabulous lots of space for everyone to chill out enjoy the views with plenty of drinks and cool vibe music. The crew were fantastic friendly and helpful the BBQ dinner was delicious. At the end we slowly watched the sunset which was incredible.

Fantastic time! Crew was professional and fun! Lunch was very filling and tasty, they were sweet to accommodate my allergies. Beautiful boat, relaxing and great music. Definitely recommend!
They did drop us off in a different spot than pickup which was a bit crowded and further away than expected, but overall great time.

Awesome experience! We highly recommend this activity, funny and hilarious staff that made the trip even better. If you want you can swim in a couple of spots they stop. They also prepared lunch for guests that was incredibly good. Great option for sunset views.

Fabulous experience, friendly and informative staff. Well cooked and generous amounts of food and drink. Absolutely stunning views of the caldera, the hot springs were not as warm as expected but well worth a swim.
We were a little cold as it was early spring so I would recommend taking layers.
Highly recommend the smaller group catamarans which feel a lot more special.

The VERY BEST experience we had in Santorini. I wish I remember our crews names because they were excellent. The boat was spacious and clean. Lunch was tasty and there was plenty to eat. Free beer, wine, and soft drinks to be had by all. Great time.

Amazing day on the water! Husband and I went November 1st so a bit on cooler side. My husband swam at the stops while I stayed on the boat. Wonderful chicken/pork meal that was cooked on board.

We had the BEST time of our lives on this tour. Greece is so special is so many ways but this tour was at another level. We knew it was going to be great from the start when they offered ouzo and we were the only ones that took it. The food was great, the mood was excellent, the weather was perfect, and the experience was outstanding.

We took a sunset tour on the Pardo with Captain Alex and Christina as our stewardess. This was one of the best experiences we could have had and an amazing cap to our honeymoon. Right away, we were met with the highest level of hospitality as we were greeted with drinks and a plate of fruits and cheeses. Both Christina and Alex were attentive to our needs and constantly checked to see if they could do anything to make our experience memorable. They knew the perfect balance between giving us space and offering their insights on the geography and history of the area. The service was top notch and was truly a memorable experience. Highly recommend this duo if you are taking out the Pardo, we wish we could do it again!

Hands-down the best day of our Santorini trip!!
Free pick up and drop off, incredibly friendly staff and crew, delicious food on board, best way to see the entire island, and the sunset... literally to DIE FOR!
We also witnessed a couple get engaged on our tour and the staff were so kind to make sure their experience was private and romantic. Truly can't say enough good words about this company.
Such a special day and experience :)

Wonderful. Despite it being overcast and even with some rain, this was a very enjoyable way to see the Santorini coast. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They prepared a BBQ lunch for us and it was all delicious! Too bad we didn't get to see the sunset, maybe next time. Well worth the trip.

This was the icing on the cake for our trip to Greece. Such an amazing experience! The crew was fantastic as was the food and drinks. We swam in the Aegean Sea and took in the most breathtaking views! An adventure that I will never forget.

We had a great time on the boat trip. We had an Albanian team with the captain named George. They made everything simple. The music was not too loud. The transportation for pick up and drop off was great. We didn’t eat the food but it looked very good. They provide snorkel gear and a towel. Good mix of sightseeing and swimming. No welcome cocktail offered but even though said included. Beer, wine, water and soft drinks only. We would definitely recommend this to others.
Jason Basri — Google review
I had an absolutely delightful time. It was great. Vicky and Yannis were amazing hosts and I highly suggest taking a sail on one of the luxury cruises, the smaller the group the better.

If you are in Santorini book this trip, you will not regret it. Free wine and beer and the most amazing food all Included. Then you will experience a sunset you will never forget. They pick you up and drop you back at your hotel, I'll remember this forever. Such an amazing crew too very helpful and friendly, trust me this will make your visit to Santorini unforgettable!

Perfect experience in Santorini. Our family of 4 to a private tour with Sunset Oia on the boat "Santorini". The picked us up near hotel and after a beautiful ride, whisked us thru the crowd to our boat. The crew, Isidora and Christopher we fantastic. We went to a few coves and swam, snorkeled , or just floated. We made our way to the volcano and had a great lunch after a swim. When we returned to port, our driver helped us off the boat and escorted us to the van for a ride back to hotel. It was well worth the price, and totally recommend the private tour.
Falasarna beach, situated in the Chania region of west Crete, boasts ancient Hellenistic harbor ruins nearby and high season cafés and sun loungers. This wide bay is ideal for water sports due to its strong winds. The village of Falassarna offers accommodation options such as hotels and houses to rent, making it a great base from where to explore all the beaches in West Crete.
We spent 2 weeks on Crete and Falasarna was definitely our favourite beach. We have visited many famous beaches here including Balos, Voulisima, Vai etc. but nothing could top Falasarna. There is one big beach and 2-3 smaller ones. So there is plenty of space, also areas without sunbeds and umbrellas. It's sandy beach and the water is very clean and crystal clear. The beach is also a great spot to watch a beautiful sunset. There is a few nice tavernas right on the beach. We personally liked the most Galatia Thea on the small beach. We stayed in Aqua Marine apartments for 1 week and it was a great experience. We can highly recommend this beach.
Tamara Milovanovi? — Google review
The most perfect beach in Crete, full of beautiful sand, even bit of pink sand too. Umbrella set was only 15euro. Water was great too. Oh and amazing sunset!!
Food in Gilisima Tavern was fresh and delicious 😋
katarzyna legowik — Google review
Very windy and moderate waves. It is an opened golf and there is no limit of wces, thus it make it a surfing area all the year long. There is a restaurant on the beach and you can rent a set of 2 chairs and 1 umbrella for 15 euros, also a bed for 40 euros. Easy to reach to this beach, the parking place is near to the beach. Colors are unexpectedly turquoise. Recommend videos and photos from the drone.
Iulia Manolescu — Google review
Very nice beach with certain levels of 🩷 sand. Perfect spot for sun bathing and swimming. It is very large and not too crowded compared to other famous beaches. Can be easily reached via bus from Chania without renting a car.
KH Yeap — Google review
This was by far one of the most beautiful and scenic beach I have been too on this trip. The sun beds were really expensive, but if you come in the afternoon you pay half the price. It is worth a visit

One of the best beaches on the island. Fantastic waves with crystal clear sea. Nice long sandy beach. The beach bar is very good with delicious food and excellent hight quality service with deep music. Prices are also okay

Amazing beach! Toilets, restaurant are close. For 15 euros you get a beach set, parasol and two sun beds. Plenty of parking space for free, clear blue water, wonderful day on the beach!
Karina P — Google review
Most beautiful beach we have been to. Stayed also once a whole day at the beach beds. You have toilets and showers. Well there is a few big restaurants with very good food and drinks.
Katharina — Google review
This beach does not disappoint! It is a very long and large beach with ample room. The water is a nice depth and there are plenty of sunbeds available. Plus a restaurant with excellent food! Highly recommend visiting this beach if you are staying in Chania.
Kat B — Google review
While not widely recognized, this beach stands out as one of the most beautiful in Chania, and quite possibly the entire island of Crete.
Stretching for several kilometers, the beach offers diverse landscapes. To the north, rugged rocks line the shore, and the crystal-clear water creates perfect conditions for snorkeling. In other areas, the conditions are ideal for swimming and various water sports.
Close to the shore, the water remains shallow—so shallow, in fact, that even non-swimmers can comfortably wade several tens of meters without difficulty.
Numerous private beaches dot the coastline, allowing visitors to rent sunbeds. Additionally, there are ample free areas for those seeking a more laid-back experience.
Catalin Hulea — Google review
Very beautiful beach, not that difficult to reach out. It is big, with white send and crystal clear water. You can rent both tge beach umbrella or the beds under a characteristic roof: 30 euro for the line in front of the beach, 20 for the second, 10 for the 3rd. There is a bar restaurant close by, but you can order directly from the beach spot and one guy will manage the order as well as the delivery. Prices are fair, and the food is good.
Claudio Cafarelli — Google review
Amazing beach, warm water. Plently of parking even after 1 pm there was still some spaces. Crystal clear water and clean. Lots of bars/ restaurants around. A cabana is 50€ and a sunbed 30 € if you’re interested.
M P — Google review
Spacious clean sandy beach with amenities. Beautiful crystal clear water, not the best for swimming because of waves. Recommended for sunset view. Accessible by car.
Silvia Hrinkov? — Google review
Falasarna beach is a captivating haven nestled among majestic mountains. The serene setting is adorned with available sunbeds, inviting relaxation. The pristine waters offer a refreshing escape, while the waves provide an exhilarating touch. A perfect harmony of natural beauty and comfort, making it an idyllic destination for tranquility and enjoyment.
Magdas Walter — Google review
Hands down, the best beach in Crete! You’ll never feel crowded here, no matter if it’s peak or off season. Waters - crystal clear, sandy bottom, surprisingly shallow, but deep enough for a swim. We’ve even spotted few surfers in the afternoon.
Tip: you’ll want to come here as early as possible, the waves can get quite high in the afternoon.
Fleur De Tilleul — Google review
Probably the best beach in Crete! Large, sandy, sun beds, free beach, water sports, beach clubs, free parking, excellent crystal clear water, sometimes moderate waves, sunset, very large beach.
15-20 km (15 min drive) from Kissamos. Car is need to reach the beach. We love it!
Cata — Google review
For me, one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. Cold clear water. Definitely the best clean beach. Great service on the beach itself. several restaurants, toilets, shower,... Huge free parking
Zlatko Mahic — Google review
Really beautiful beach! Easy access, large parking space and comfortable beach equipment - plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. It feels like the water is colder than the other beaches at that time.
Polina — Google review
There is a lot of plastic in the sea. Mostly big and small pieces of plastic. It looks like it is cleaned during season, but not in April. It is not so nice to swim in plastic. Otherwise, just a standard beach, nothing special about it. There are definitely more beautiful beaches in Crete than this one
Sergey A — Google review
Wasn't sure how to rate this one so I will split it in sections:
Water: 10/10 Probably the most beautiful water in Crete
Sunbeds: 1/10 Sunbeds and umbrellas are packed like sardines. 20e for 2 sunbeds and umbrellas unless you want first two rows which is 60 I believe. I don't mind paying 20e but sitting so close to people is just not pleasant.
People: 5/10 - There is a lot of people on the beach, and I mean a lot, however you can still swim somewhere where it's not that packed.
Overall, worth visiting definitely but I wouldn't go there every day during full eeason even if someone paid me to.
Balos Beach is a well-known lagoon on the northwestern side of Crete that can be reached by either boat or car. A natural paradise with white sand and turquoise waters, it sits within the Gramvousa Peninsula, where visitors can also find two small islets overlooking the beach. The larger one has a Venetian fortress that was built to deter pirates. The shallow waters near the shore are perfect for snorkelling while further out in the lagoon there are deeper parts to explore.
Amazing place, the colour of sand and water Is so beautiful.
You have to drive for about 20 min on gravel road, pay €1 per person at the entrance to the area. Once parked on free parking area, walk 20 min down to the beach. Wear comfortable shoes, so you can walk on stony uneven path. I was wearing flip flops and was fine, so not too bad of a walk. Elevation is about 150m, so wouldn’t recommend to elderly or very young kids, unless you can carry them some of the way.
Natalie M — Google review
One of the most beautiful places I ever visited! So many shades of blue, the water is clean and there are even a few patches of pink sand. If you rent an umbrella, just make sure you close it before going in for a swim, since the wind is pretty strong in the lagune.
Carmen Florina — Google review
The road to the beach is quite long, if you have a rental car the policy does not allows you to go on this route. We rented an ATV from the city next to it and it took about 25 minutes to the parking lot.
But then you have to walk for about 20-30 minutes to get down to the beach.
The water wasn’t so turquoise blue like in the pictures and definitely I couldn’t say it’s the most beautiful beach in Greece.
Probably, going by boat would’ve been a better option.
Roxana Golaes — Google review
Although we intended to take the ferry to get here, we didn't make it as it was fully booked and we were told that only one trip is made per day. So, we ended up taking the road trip but I think that's the best thing to happen to us. The road was difficult but it was definitely worth it, we stopped a couple of times to buy sandwiches and drinks that were local to the area. when we reached I thought we may not be able to get the parking as it was mentioned many times but when we got there, the locals charged us €2 to enter per person and parking facilities were good as the locals were managing it. From there we started a little hike down to the beach, the view was amazing. Took lots of pictures along the way. I couldn't get enough of it, simply beautiful. There weren't many people on the beach and it was peaceful. After spending an hour there we saw the ferry arriving at the beach, so many people got down at the same time and that was our cue to depart from the beach. All and all, it was a thing to remember. This is definitely a must to see the beach. Highly recommend.
Sony Prajapati — Google review
This is a beautiful place to view from up top. Other than that it's interesting having all these people running, laying, sitting in the pond/swamp-like water, but not more than that. The closed off lagoon's water is dirty because of everyone going in. The shallow isn't good for swimming. The swimmable part of the beach is overwhelmed and has slippery pebbles till you get to somewhere you can enter the water. So yes - beautiful beach, not a good beach. Please keep clean and have in mind there are a lot of people there.
Marin ?SayanMk? Kolev — Google review
This is still one of the most impressive views after 5 years!
It is quite challenging to get there following a narrow dirt road but so so worth it!
Oh, even after reaching there by car, you need to walk like 2-30 min, it was quite tough because of the sun, but the hiking itself is doable with flipflops.
Soohyun Park — Google review
It's obviously stunning and a must see. The road there is 10km of bumpy and slow off-road and the place is a bit too touristy for my liking with a lot of sunbeds and umbrellas giving it a slight hotel resort feel. Wander off a bit to the other side and walk a loop around the lake over the rocks to get a more secluded feel

Love the beach so much! It has the blue color that i was always wanting to experience, water so clear and shallow so u are not scared of not being able to swim! Took a walk on the top and u can also see the panorama view! Juat that the ferry left so quick and u had no much time to explore! Wish the tour could last longer!

It was a very nice beach with a natural scenery view, but then walking down and up the mountain can be stressful. Make sure you wear very comfortable shoes (trainers) and make sure you are very fit or you could take a boat there instead. Driving there is not bad but dusty. In general you should visit beach, it’s a must see

Is it worth the drive trough the worst road ever, the hike down (20 mins) and back up (30-40 mins)? Absolutely yes! It hurt but that’s how you form precious core memories. Parking lot is too small so we found a 1km of cars parked alongside the last part of the road, so add this to the hike, you’re gonna park faaar away. Any how, it’s awesome and they have goats!

The beach is beautiful. There is a small part of water separated from the main see and which is very shallow, very good for kids. The entrance to the territory costs 1 euro per person and the parking costs another 3 euro. Then you have to take a small hike (~20 mins) and you will be there. The hike is very easy. The beach gets crowded towards 11:00. There are no big waves and swimming there is very joyful

This godly, otherworldly beach is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in. Sapphire, crystal clear water with a lot of space to swim, agreeable temperature and the two rising mounts that are surrounding the place. You can easily get to the top of the hill, a bit rocky and it doesn't have a path but you have the checkpoints that will guide you there and you'll have a gorgeous view from the beach, the islands nearby and the mount. I arrived at the morning and I was able to enjoy a lot. It gets busy in the afternoon with all the tourists coming in from the boat but well, what can you do. Unfortunately I found plenty of plastic scattered around the hill and had to myself clean a little bit, so please watch out for anything that you will throw away. Getting there was easy by car, very comprehensive roads and a parking lot. We had to pay to enter and I think also for the parking but it's not much and it is worth it, of course. Specially if the money goes for conservating this paradise. The chairs under the parasols are paid and it was 20 euros.

Loved it! The toilet was broken or closed however when we where there during Easter week, and the time that took us to get there was really underestimated by oneself. Also not the easiest path to take, but worth it. I burned 1000 calories durjng this trip.

Suuuuch a beautiful place! Took a boat trip there. Waters are shallow for a large part but you can reach a swimable distance that is safe, warm yet refreshing waters. Bed and umbrellas free for anyone to use. You can drive there but be sure you’ll have to climb down a very big mountain for approx 20 min!

Beautiful beach and the lagoon is just amazing. Shallow and warm water with no waves. The only downside is the 9km dirt road and the 2.5km of walking down the cliff to the beach from the carpark. To be honest, it was even more difficult yo get back to the top.
Wojciech Delong — Google review
Not worth the hassle in my eyes. 30 min drive on a very bad road, another 30 min walk to the beach which gets very crowded with people who arrive by boat. Places to actually swim are few and far between as the waters are quite shallow here. €1/person for entry, €3 for parking, and €20 for a beach set. Probably best to be the first or last to arrive in the day. The goats are cool though :)

Balos Beach is a true natural gem that left us in awe during our visit. The twenty minutes hike down to the beach, which included navigating through gravel, stones, and rocks, was an adventure in itself. We even had a delightful stop at the viewpoint, where we were treated to breathtaking scenery and encountered some curious goats along the way. Trust me, sturdy footwear is an absolute must for this trek.
But once you arrive at the beach, it's like stepping onto another planet. The white sand is simply mesmerizing, contrasting beautifully with the clear blue waters of the sea. The picturesque setting makes it a fantastic spot for sunbathing, swimming, or simply soaking in the natural beauty.
It's important to note that Balos Beach can get quite crowded around midday, as tour boats typically dock at twelve pm. If you prefer a quieter experience, consider arriving early in the morning or later in the afternoon.
The only caveat is the hike back up, which is undoubtedly more challenging than the descent. However, the stunning beach and panoramic views make every step worthwhile. Balos Beach is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and beach lovers alike, just be prepared for that uphill journey!

Balos beach is a must see beach from the nearby hill. If visited by a boat, you have to climb the rocky path in order to see the entire beauty of it. This is the reason we picked the unpaved road. It takes about 10 km of it, not very pleasant to travel, however, it seems maintained and secure. You can see a lot of goats and sheep while driving as well as on the beach. Bring them snack or close your beach bags, so they don’t pick the threats themselves. The fee to enter the natural park is €1 per person (cash) for clean up and maintenance almost at the beginning of the dirt road. Then, parking costs €3 payable cash or by card in the coffee/sandwich shop at the parking lot. There is a person helping with the parking logistics in the morning as the parking can get really packed at lunch time. The journey down hill takes about 30 minutes and even more if you stop for pictures. You aren’t allowed to use your own umbrella, no need to carry it all the way down. If you get there early, there could be available beach chairs and umbrellas for €20 per set. It gets very busy after noon with the boats arriving. The bigger ones don’t turn their engines off while waiting for the tourists so it gets noisy, too. Apart from this and the too many small boats and water paddle boats, the nature is preserved, stunning views and colors.

This is a must go place. It is so breathtaking that no Words can describe its beauty. Awesome place, beach a nice canteen nearby and boats to rent in the area. You need to carry cash or you can literally not enter the natural reserve. Fee is 1 euro per person. Also, loads of hungry goats are there. It's phenomenal.

I took a ferry to come to this beach. We stayed 2-3 hours (we booked this through agency). I wish we got more time to spend here but in that amount of time spent here I absolutely loved it. The beach is nice and water is very warm (depends on what time of the year you go - we went in September). Walking to the beach it can be an awkward walk cause some of the stones can be really big so you have to take precautions. All in all I definitely recommend visiting this beach.

This was by far my favorite Crete beach simply because it is absolutely gorgeous. Having read the reviews we decided to go by car, because that would allow us a full day at the beach. The cruise companies only seem to spend a couple of hours here (which is a good thing in my opinion).
Getting to Balos by car consists of driving along 11 kilometers of unpaved road, occasionally navigating turns and twists, there are sharp stones and except for a few places there is no railing on the sea side so I can see how some might find it uncomfortable driving there. But I thought that it is absolutely worth it. You pay 1 euro to enter the area and 3 euros for parking (which is also full of sharp stones). From the parking lot you have to go down to the beach, maybe a 20 minutes walk (on the way back it's uphill so maybe 30-40 minutes). The views of the beach from the path are breathtaking and there are many goats along the way.
The beach has a toilet (1 euro) and a small shop selling sandwiches and drinks. You are not allowed to use your own umbrella so don't bother bringing any. There are a few umbrellas and beds available for rent, I don't remember how much we payed but it's in line with the other beaches of the island. Around lunch time the boats arrived and the beach became very crowded, but like I mentioned they only stay for an hour or two and then leave so in the afternoon it became less crowded again.

Driving to this beach is a bit difficult but not impossible. We need to drive almost 6 kms on a dirt road.
From parking we need to walk about 45-60 mins for normal people or 20-30 mins for fit people.
Walking is a bit difficult so please plan accordingly especially if you have a baby or elder people in your group.
There is only one canteen at the beach, food and drink options are very limited. There is no shower as well.
Beach is very beautiful and water is so clear. You can rent a boat there directly if you want.
There is lot of sea weed at some parts of the beach but if you go inside the water there is nothing.
All in all it’s an excellent beach in crete with some amazing views and awesome driving experience.
We enjoyed our experience but hope to see some cable cars or so next time I visit here or at least they build some new roads.

Definitely a must see location, the rocky sides, the flora, the water there, it all makes this place very special. Sandy beaches, in some places you’ll find the same pink hues sand as in elafonissi beach. Highly recommend to visit.
Tip: take proper water shoes with rubber sole and snorkeling mask with you, the water in some places might have quite sharp rocks but you’ll be rewarded with amazing fish and sea life
Parikia, the main port and capital of Paros island, is a prime example of a typical Cycladic settlement. Its unique features include narrow cobbled paths, traditional churches, quaint shops, and houses painted in the classic blue and white colors found throughout Greece's Cyclades islands.
Sarakiniko Beach on the island of Milos is a stunning natural wonder with its moonlike white landscape, clear waters, and unique rock formations. The smooth white rocks create a narrow inlet with a small beach at the end, perfect for safe swimming and snorkeling. Nearby, the remains of a shipwreck offer another great spot for snorkeling. The surrounding white volcanic rock has been shaped by wind over time, creating fjord-like crags with pools and caves to explore.
This is one of the craziest places in earth, such an amazing beach, but little to no sand at all. The smooth white rocks make you feel like you're on the moon, and the heat will make you want to jump from the cliffs into the water below. Which is what most people do, into the deep blue water from various heights. There are many places to casually walk into the water and a few shallow inlets to sit down and relax in the water. Best beach on Milos.

Most amazing beach! A lot of the reason why people visit Milos, gets very crowded peak season, if you wanna beats the crowds best to get there early in the morning, great place for cliff jumping too. Never been to such an amazing beach, there are also boat tours that include this spot but it’s easy enough to drive down and take a dip or a cliff jump, I did see some dogs there too but I wouldn’t recommend it might be too hot for their little paws.

Careful, It's not a "beach" place to sit all day.

Absolutely loved this place! The scenery was breathtaking, felt like walking on the moon. It was packed but once you get past that and just enjoy the scenery and swimming, it’s awesome. Loved cliff jumping in to the water in 40 degrees heat. Had the best time. Definitely recommend coming here!

Unique landscape created by volcanic irruptions thousands of years ago; definitely worth visiting for the experience and the amazing pictures you’ll be able to take. From a beach point of view, don’t be disappointed when you realize that this is a small beach, that gets very busy ! Not great from a swimming point of view, but still top on the to do list. I’d also advise against visiting with children as it can be dangerous, if not taking precautions ( slippery rocks, hard to access and rocky beach ).

It's called the moon beach, because of the smooth like floor. Its good for romantic pictures, a small accessible beach for kids, and cliff jumping for adventurous people like me 😃. There is a lot of things to do there so try to spend not less than 2 hours there. A must go beach when you are in Milos.
mona afifi — Google review
Super packed with tourists but super cool to see. It is a long walk down and long walk back up but worth it. Some slippery areas of loose rock when walking around and wet rocks when getting into the water so be careful. Had a blast cliff jumping to if you are into that. Easy swims back out.
Bill Sering — Google review
This beach is so pretty, the photos do not disappoint and as others have said it’s not super crowded for sunset. The water on the day we went was too harsh to do any cliff jumping but otherwise lovely moon-like beach with interesting areas like caves and just all the other hilly spots for pics. Dusk or dawn would be perfect for golden hour photos
Christina Tran (Tiinadear) — Google review
I highly recommend driving there in the morning between 6 and 7 am (for sunrise) to get a beautiful view of the ocean and other-wordly rocky landscape. During the day I suggest you go between 9 am - 3 pm, parking can be hard to find depending on time of year. I visited in mid May and so it wasn’t too bad.

5 stars does not seem high enough for this place. It is almost like a mars or moon landscape. The water was rough when we were there so didn't swim but there is a spot to wade in. We weren't expecting all of the caves that seemed to go on and on. So much fun
Neil Packman — Google review
The only reason I gave this a 4 is because it's only worth visiting for pictures and maybe jumping off the cliff if you're into that. It's definitely mesmerizing to see the white xolour rocks and makes for a great backdrop in pictures, but other than that, that's all it is. We went at 8am and there was already a few people there. I would suggest going no later than 8 if you want nice photos without anyone in them. By 9am, the parking lot was packed (end of June).

Beach is nice but overrated. Way too many people to give it a 5 star review. However, if you walk just a few minutes along you're quickly on your own

The must see place in Milos. It's hard to describe but the views and landscape are breathtaking!! Feels like you are on another planet. Take your time and enjoy.
Just be warned that it is uneven terrain so wear good shoes. It is also a decent trek and the white rocks reflect the sun so it can get very hot, so make sure you stay hydrated!! But definitely worth it!!
Nicholas Dounetas — Google review
Such a beautiful place! You have to strategically visit since the winds are rough and make the water unsafe to swim in, plus there’s often a lot of people, but the nature itself is breathtaking and so surreal.

no words, is beautifull! cliff jump spot stays after the first big "pool", keep walking a bit to the other side! you can get off swimming through the little "cave" on the second pic and climbing a bit! Have fun!

This was an interesting place. I usually think of sand at a beach but there really isn't any here. The water & cliffs were beautiful. There is an area where you can walk in. Some people were swimming but it was too cold for me. There were some caves to walk in, but some people have thrown trash there.

Quoting our hotel owner: The volcano did a beautiful job!
Go in the morning before 8 or after 6 for the spectacular lighting and also smaller crowds. It really does get crowded after 9.
Also, keep on walking past the beach. The view gets better and better as you go deeper!

This wonderful spot of Milos Island consists of gray-white volcanic rock formations of many different shapes. It offers a wonderful view and makes you feel like you are walking on the moon. There is a small beach in a sea recess, under the shade of a few small trees. Since the point where you enter the sea from the beach is quite shallow, it is possible to swim by jumping from some safe rocks.
If you're going on a sunny day, take into account that the rocks are hot and there is little shade. You can go early to find a shaded area or take an umbrella with you that will protect you from the sun.

Such a magnetic looking beach, just a short drive from town. Catching sunrises here is just amazing. The hues of the sky to the moon like terrain.
This beach is appropriate for all ages, there is a shallow part that perfect for kids to play in just right where the caves are. This point is sandy or small pebble beach easy for kids sit in and play with the sand. Further down is for those whom are decent swimmers as the ledges to jump off of vary due to the tide. Of course this is a swim/jump into the water at your own risk.
The water is at least 15 ft + deep so if you jump in, be aware you swimming into the smaller cove to climb up the rock face, which can be slippery.
Overall it’s beautiful day or night. Nighttime will best during a full moon, to have its glow reflect off it terrain.
Also from when I went I did not see any restrooms.
Simos Beach is a renowned destination for summer holidays in Greece, located just 3 km from the main village of Elafonisos, Skala. It boasts fine golden sand dunes and crystal-clear waters, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Accessible by car or boat from Skala village, this sandy paradise offers two beaches meeting to create large sandy hills. The clean waters and pink-tinged sand make it an ideal spot for sunbathing and swimming.
It's a sandy paradise. Basically, two beaches that meet and create big sandy hills. Really nice and clean waters, and you might notice the sand being pink from the sun reflection. It's an easy road to go just 10 minutes from the port, and you should definitely have an umbrella and plenty of sunscreen. Weekdays in June is relatively empty for its size and you will enjoy it to the fullest. Also great for kids.

Excellent beach, best I've seen in Greece so far. Sandy, with crystal clear water, shallow - ideal for kids. The only inconvenient I found is the excessivly high price of the sunbeds/umbrellas, but we didn't mind as there's plenty of space to lay directly on the sand.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches I have been, very clean sand, crystal water and not crowded (15 Jul). You have multiple options to have an umbrella and beach bed/hammock for 40€ / 30€ / 20€ depending of the beach location.
The Temple of Poseidon, a cultural monument built in the 5th century BCE and located at Cape Sounion, offers stunning views of the sea. The temple was constructed from marble sourced nearby and boasts gleaming white Doric-style columns. Sailors approaching this region could spot the temple's white façade from afar, indicating that they were almost home.
An absolute beautiful site. The drive is gorgeous. We visited at sunset and it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. There is a yummy little restaurant I Def recommend eating at. If you have the chance definitely go see.

The Temple has a stunning view, and apart from the hugely significant historic value, there is very little too the site. There is also the €10 entrance fee, which i would not describe as value for money. There is a cafe at the site which is friendly and serves food and drinks. But nothing else within walking distance (walking is on main road anyway). I visited the Temple of Poseidon in the morning (apparently the experience is much better at sunset for the views).

The views at sunset are absolutely incredible. The place is not large, maybe a 30 minute leisurely stroll around it for some photos, but it is truly a great sight.
The restaurant nearby would be a nice place to relax and eat, however it closes around when the temple does so you need to be there earlier (something our tour guide did not include).

Beautiful site! Listen to the waves crash into the rocks as you explore. No better location for a temple to the god of the seas! Can get a little crowded but the place is big enough to spread out. The trip from Athens to the temple is about an hour and a half car ride. The trip itself is on winding, beautiful, sea side roads. So, the trip itself is lovely. The temple of Poseidon is not as popular as the Acropolis, so you will basically have it to yourself. The views from the top of the hill are stunning. It’s worth the drive to see the view and to get photos that you’ll never forget.

Temple was amazing the went to was rubbish would sold that. Bus tour was no good. Because of protests we had to catch a train and then walk 5ks to catch the bus at the apocalypse it were basically having to run everywhere and then was told to hurry up because we're late. And on the evening tour we only had an hour and 20 minutes at the site so not enough time to see anything
They made it sound like you went too two adventures, but it was only one we had to pay again when we got there be careful of the fine print and then the bus was late getting back and we missed our dinner reservation because of traffic which they should have allowed for was told to hurry up and start running by the Young tour guide and I'm a man In my 50s I asked about a toilet was you told I should have gone before I got there! how rude and on the audio tour she questioned us on the way home like a bunch of five-year-olds my advice is make your own way there and you'll love it.

We visited the Temple just before sunset so that we could watch the sun go down over the Agean and islands. This was a truly magical experience with the sky turning from colour to colour and becoming ever more beautiful as the sun descended. The temple itself is a wonder to see, both on a approach and when close up. It gets busy here but there is plenty of space to spread out on the cliff side with quite a few benches to be found for a good view of the sunset. It is obvious why the ancients decided to build here - it's one of those places you'll never forget.
Do yourself a favour and book a taxi excursion which are very affordable and similarly priced to the coach tours. We did and were grateful as we drove away whilst everyone else was queuing for coaches.

One of the most beautiful places to enjoy a sunset in Greece, if not the whole of Europe!
The site closes permanently for the day right after the sunset, last possible entry being around 30 minutes before the sun sets itself.
Coming in march, all the flowers around were blooming and all the colors were adding a lot to the beauty of the place.
Although not perfectly preserved the Temple of Poseidon is really beautiful even in the state it is in.
Keep in mind that the sunset here draws a lot of tourists, including busses and private tours, so at times it can get a little busy, still not crowded and manageable.
There are on site free toilets and a restaurant with a souvenir shop, the prices being a bit high considering the touristic location.
Definitely a must see while around the Athens area!

The Caves of Diros are a historic attraction with impressive formations such as stalactites and stalagmites. The caves were carved out of limestone by the underground river Vlychada, which flows slowly towards the sea. Visitors can take short boat cruises to view these formations and then explore the pedestrian part of the cave at their own pace. COVID-19 precautions require either a vaccine passport or rapid testing, both available locally. Restrooms and a café/shop are located near the entrance.
I went there when they only had 300m of travel time because the water had risen. My Greek friend told me that when it's lower you can go further and it's spectacular! And let me tell you it is... When we got into the boat all of the lights went out in our cave space. I was situated in such a position as to where I could take a photo of the space beyond, that was lit... It was so eerie that the people around me needed to fill the silence with their voices. I, however chose to be silent and set the stage for presence in a random situation... Imagine stillness in almost absolute darkness. It's hard to recreate. Although the tour was shorter than usual, take advantage if this situation arises because no amount of money is worth the experience... Live your life and know that everything is working in your favor. Sometimes the lights go out unexpectedly... You can choose fear or you can choose presence.

Quite an amazing place, the first part of the cave is done by boat or should I say a long canoe. Sadly the day we came we were told that the water level was very high so only a small portion the cave could be visited on water.
Nevertheless we had a great time, and can agree that the Diros Caves are among the most significant natural sites in Greece, truly spectacular. I understand the caves formed hundreds of thousands of years ago and that the stalactites and stalagmites that are now underwater were formed when the sea level was much lower than it currently is.
The temperature is much cooler in the caves, especially in the water section rather than the land part of the caves, so if you're feeling cold easily, taking a cardigan or jumper might be a good idea.
Frederic Demay — Google review
What an amazing cave! Especially what makes it more fun and interesting is going by boat. Just watch your head on the Stalactites. The only reason I'm not giving 5 starts is because we weren't able to do the walking part of the cave because apparently it was being cleaned 😕, even though we payed for it and no one told us anything about it being closed until the end. Still we are lucky to come on a day when it's open. Just make sure you try to call them before going to make sure its open, because if the water level is too high they can't do the tour.

We did the small slope due to Covid regulations. Totally worth it. We had a boat ride and also a walk through the caves to the exit. Pictures and videos don't do the trick. Its better to see for yourself.

This is so amazing! 1,2 km long boat ride trough tunnels , with crazy good stalactites and stalagmites. The only minus is that boat "driver" doesn't share any info about the cave. It would be good if they could give a little bit of info, sbout cave itself, history, geology etc. There is a parking on the top of the site, which requires short walk downhill (or uphill on return), and also parking right next to caves entrance, but it's usually full. The biat is slippery, so it would be good to wear proper shoes. Last 300m you should go on foot and it's still amazing place to be. If you are in Peloponnese, you should visit this wonder of nature.

Amazing caves, definitely a must see experience! Queue was a little long when we went (on a Saturday) but moved pretty quickly. Boat ride through the caves is great! Unfortunately, the tour guide didn’t say any information in English, only in Greek. Would be better if they did. May have to suck in some moments!

These really are fantastic caves: I don't think I've ever seen such impressive stalactites/stalagmites. The boat ride is quite short but atmospheric, and then you can wander at your own pace through the pedestrian part of the cave. Take your time and enjoy the amazing formations. Useful info - they require a Covid passport or a rapid test (the chemist back up the road in Pyrgos Dirou did one for our teenage son: very quick and only €10) and once you've bought your tickets I'd drive down to the entrance where there are toilets and a cafe/shop.

Beautiful caves, amazing sea views and beaches just around the corner.
On 21/08/2022, the cave tour was shortened due to a rise of the water level. The ticket price was reduced.
During busy periods, it is better to reserve tickets.
Roeland Lacroix — Google review
The caves itself are amazingly beautiful. We went early on a Sunday and we reserved tickets ahead of time so there was no wait. The tour itself feels very rushed, there is no time to stop and enjoy it, everything flew by. Probably because it was busy and they were trying to fit as many people in as they could.
Thomas Teerlink — Google review
These aren't just your ordinary caves. The first part is traveled in a canoe. Traveling by boat makes experiencing caves way more fun than just on foot! Just make sure to tuck your head in every once in a while, or you'll hit your head!
Yarrin Verbueken — Google review
Fabulous caves. They don't tell you so mind your heads and make sure you don't leave behind your car keys in the boat. Turn up before 9.30am to avoid the crowds/a long wait. No need to book in advance if you arrive early. You can park on the road past the ticket office on the way down to the caves themselves.

Lovely. It's worth it. But buy tickets online to avoid driving there and having to come back the next day. Boat ride a bit rushed and commentary just in Greek, and still with little information about geological or anthropological history. It seems to have been privatised in the last three years, so a bit profit oriented.
Elektra Spathopoulos — Google review
Only the short tour was available but we enjoyed it even though it only took about 20 minutes. Cool boat ride and the guy paddling have us some information. The caves were cool and worth a visit, my family (wife and two teenage girls) all said it was worth the stop. We visited the beginning of April so I imagine it gets much busier as the tourist season progresses.

Amazing awesomeness of Yours truly, The Nature. I was left speechless by the natural formations... I definitely recommend a visit to the Vlychada caves.

A must if you are near. One of the most breathtaking caves we have experienced. While the tour was in Greek, a couple later translated and it was astounding to hear how saber tooth tigers, hippos and per-historic men lived in the cave.

Visited the caves in January, so just us in the boat, beautiful caves with stalagmites and stalactites, would recommend visiting if you're in the area.
The Acropolis Museum is a new glass and steel building housing ancient artifacts from the Acropolis archaeological site. The building is designed by Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi and covers ancient ruins, much of which has glass panels to give constant views of the Parthenon. The museum is divided into three levels, with a chronological trip through the centuries beginning on the ground floor with findings from the hills archaic period.
Fantastic museum, i guess it is among the top sights in Athens! I attached lots of photos as the exhibition is just so amazing! So bright inside, loveable atmosphere, loads of history and arts! Ticket costs only €5 in the winter time. They have a cafe inside with the most amazing view over the Acropolis hill. People are very kind here!
Mesmerizing spot ♥️

This place amazed me! Building a modern building architecture over historical attraction. In this I mean, they built building over the ancient bath, that is accessible on Ground floor outside. The amount of history and knowledge given by this place,we did not have an audio guided tour and it was still great.
The museum is fairly large it would take a couple of hour to walk through it all! So go early!
The layout of the museum we're very well thought and designed.
The view, in which ever side or whatever level is only an addition the museum great knowledge.
Whether you do this first before or after the Acropolis, it would be great information to then consolidate your knowledge about the Acropolis.

Very well put together and definitely a must see, after seeing the video presentations the museum has, you feel the only thing that would make this better is if England gave back the Elgin Marbles. I’ve seen them in London, but I feel they would have much stronger meaning if they were in Athens. When you go, definitely visit the dig site under the museum, to say this museum was well thought out is an understatement.

Can easily spend an entire day in the museum. Lots of historical items to see. The book shop sells books in multiple languages. On one of the floors, there is a cafe/restaurant if you need to take a break or when you bring along children to the museum. Purchase the ticket(s) on the museum's website in advance, and you will be able to enter the museum once you've arrived.

It's a very nice museum although a bit confusing. In some cases, it's not possible to take pictures no matter if you have maybe travelled thousands of miles to be there, obviously, I couldn't follow. There is a nice bar on the top floor with a great view of the Parthenon. I suggest purchasing the audio guide else you will not understand what you are looking at.

A beautiful modern museum, full of history and with a great atmosphere. The exhibits are priceless, of course, and the way they are presented is fabulous, giving immediately the feel of how/why/where they were situated in antiquity. The number one feature of this museum is the location and the 360º view around it. It is located under the Acropolis and the big windows are giving a nice view of the surrounding centre of Athens city. The restaurant on the balcony is of very high culinary standards and the view is superb. A "must go" place if you visit Athens.

Wonderful museum. All the ancient treasure but with a modern architecture design. Love the underground ruins. Bookstore is great! Recommend to come early (morning - before lunch time) or later in the afternoon to avoid large groups. Strongly recommend to book tickets online prior to visit.

The Acropolis Museum is my all-time favorite museum. It’s down from the Acropolis and the museum’s glass walls provide stunning views.
You can purchase tickets ahead of time to avoid the line—or even purchase them on your phone while you’re standing in line.
Both outside floors and some of the first floor inside are glass and you can see a dig below. There are four floors. A reading room. An outdoor cafe overlooking the Acropolis. And two gift shops.
The museum captures the airy feel of the Acropolis itself and it’s best viewed when it’s not terribly crowded. I go every year I’m in Athens to visit my favorite displays. Be sure to look up outside the entrance/exit doors to see the statue of Athena as an owl. It’s on top of a metal pole outside.
Beware of aggressive pigeons if you sit outside at the cafe—but dealing with them is absolutely worth it for the view. Also, keep track of your ticket because you’ll likely be asked to produce it again when you leave the cafe.

A must visit in Athens! I’d say, even for people not visiting museums on a regular it is worth to visit this museum!
There is a big area underneath the building itself, which you can have a look at for free.
The single ticket for the museum itself is 15 Euros.
There are 3 floors full of old ancient tools, vases, figures, statues, parts of pillars. It’s an amazing collection of antique parts they’ve found and reconstructed.
It’s also worth mentioning they’ve set all the parts in the same way the old Parthenon is constructed. So on the top floor you will find all the parts from the roof of the Parthenon. This was stunning, to see how wide the roof was and how big the parts and monuments were.
We visited the museum on a Friday late afternoon around 5pm (open until 10pm on Fridays), there was no waiting line on the ticket booth. But we saw lot of people waiting in a long queue on Sunday early afternoon, be aware of that!
We had a look at a lot of things and it took us around 2 hours for it.

This place is amazing. We did arrive at the end of the day and they were closing, but this is incredible. The mere fact that they build the museum on top of an archeological site that you can see through a glass floor is amazing and a must see.
You will have to drop your bag at the entry though.

The new museum is very beautiful and it has a nice panorama terrace with view to the Acropolis!
If you visit, you should have at least 2 hours but you can take half a day here if you look everything carefully.
Kata Kálmán — Google review
Beautiful museum! The layout was incredibly beautiful and you could see the ruins underneath the museum. Bring your own headphones and scan the code to get information about the different displays- we forgot ours! The plaque display is oddly placed so on some pieces you have to kneel down to the floor to read what it says.
Aimee Moore — Google review
The architecture of this museum itself is so stunning. The entrance area slopes upward while you view the history and artifacts of the Acropolis’ “slopes” and the whole area has this dot pattern design resembling the foundational columns of the most important buildings.
Then there’s the top floor, which feels like it was made to be a replica of the Parthenon but with modern materials - it has the same number of columns all around (but in steel) and all the archaeological displays are arranged around the main area in the same spots that they were on in the Parthenon. The whole top floor is even aligned to be directionally parallel to the Parthenon. You even get a great view of the real Parthenon from the top floor.
Overall lots of excellent historical pieces with a detailed description of the Acropolis’ history through time. The original Caryatids (from the Erechtheion) are preserved here, and if you’re lucky you might even catch them restoring one with a light pulse technique that was invented in Athens.
All plaques have English translations, so it’s very tourist friendly. There is also a super cool Lego rendition of the Acropolis on the second floor! I would say this is best visited after you’ve been to the real Acropolis, because you will appreciate the history and details a lot more once you’ve seen the real thing.

Fantastic amazing modern architecture absolutely loved the museum which was placed protectively above the ancient ruins below. Lunch was gorgeous sitting on the cantilevered canopy above the entrance and below the Acropolis. The artifacts enclosed are beautifully and imaginatively displayed. Definitely worth a visit when in Athens. Awesome!

Highly recommend this place to visit in Athens! The museum is designed to be visitor friendly and in modern style. The statues were vivid and many of them are with color, and reveals lots of interesting and surprising facts. I did not expect Athena is with red hair since her impression in my mind is simply made of marbles and in white. Besides the exhibitions, there is a fabulous rooftop bar on the second or third floor, on which you can have a good view of the Acropolis! Besides, the gift shop can be a good shopping place. The small statues, clothe handbags and the dictionaries are made delicately!

Great Museum.
I really enjoyed the visit, some information: you are not able to eat or drink while walking around but you can eat or order something at the restaurant on the 3d floor.
The museum was very interesting and i would recommend visiting the acropolis, before going here because it helps you imagine what it would have looked like thousands of years ago.
There is a cloak room just before the start of the museum so you can put your bags or coats there if you do not want to carry them around while walking.
Great Museum and would definitely recommend.

This was an amazing experience! Many audio guides will just read the plaques in front of the artifacts so make sure to find more in-depth ones if that’s more your style. Be sure to check the excavation area under the museum and watch the video at the end of the path, it was very information and amazing to see how they did all they did for the museum!

Nice modern museum on top of ancient ruins. Next to acropolis rock , 1 minute from metro station. 10-15€ entrance depending the month you will visit .it has 2 stages and one under the building. All floors have glass to step so you see underneath. Everything has a description and they have audio description too .it's easy to walk . At the second floor they have a huge cafeteria bistro that you can enjoy your coffee looking at Parthenon and lykovitos hill .

Beautiful experience.
If you have been to the Acropolis, I highly recommend visiting the museum as well. It’s just as spectacular as the Acropolis itself.
Tips : if you are below 25 and from Europe, you can get free entrance - you just have to show a document proving that (i used my passport). I really appreciate that they do that - I think it’s encouraging youth to visit more cultural attractions.
As I said, amazing. The place speaks for itself. Beautiful and interesting. Even if I had to pay, I would have gone. It’s a must.

An excellent museum displaying finds from the Acropolis. It's located in a modern building not far from the acropolis itself. The tickets are affordable and the collection is excellent. As usual with these kinds of places there are massive lines at the entrance so it's wise to arrive early.

We had our own tour guide of the museum and Parthenon. Went at 0800. Crowds were large by the time we left around 1100. Museum was a great display of the changes over the centuries, plus showed what statues and parts taken by England in early 1800s (and still have).

I wanted to extend my deepest gratitude for the exceptional service I experienced at Acropolis museum.
Recently, I accidentally purchased duplicate entry tickets for a visit to your museum. Upon realizing my mistake, I reached out to your team, and I was genuinely impressed by the prompt and professional manner in which the matter was handled. Not only did you swiftly address my concern, but now also graciously arranged to refund me for the extra tickets without any hassle.
This level of customer care truly exceeded my expectations, and I want to express my sincere appreciation for your dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction. It's evident that your team takes great pride in providing a positive experience for visitors, and I am incredibly grateful for that.
Moreover, I wish to commend your museum for its commitment to excellence and innovation in preserving and showcasing cultural heritage. Your contributions to the arts and education are invaluable, and I have no doubt that you will continue to inspire and enrich the lives of many in the years to come.
Once again, thank you for your outstanding service and for creating memorable experiences for visitors like myself. I look forward to future visits and witnessing the continued success and growth of your esteemed institution.

Awesome museum full of ancient (BC) artifacts all found locally! Very close to the Acropolis and a short walk to shopping and restaurants. This is a 'can't miss' visit but be forewarned - get here early because the line to get in gets very long very quickly. To make this visit even sweeter is the fact that directly under the museum is a live excavation site that you can wander in!

Must see attraction when coming to Athens. The museum itself is spectacular. Minimal wait time to enter (less than 10 minutes), staff were very helpful. It cost €10 for a single ticket on a weekday, which allowed you to view the entirety of the museum. The exhibits were stunning, and the cafe and views of the city were also stunning from the second floor.
There was additionally a special limited attraction on the ground floor, which is only accessible by paying a secondary charge of €10. Overall, great place and would love to visit again.

The new Acropolis Museum is well worth a stop while touring through Athens, Greece. The modern architecture enhances the many exhibits and artifacts. A great experience.
The third floor dedicated to Parthenon was the best part. Save your energy for that part
The free audio guide was nice, but it will take you hours to listen to every stop. You will need to bring your own headphones.
Don't forget to visit the excavation under the building!

The museum is truly amazing. I had a one of a kind experience touring around. Everything is in several languages so understanding what each piece is was very simple. The layout is super fluid and the staff is very pleasant. Admission is on the cheaper side (not including a tour) and I wasn’t pleasantly surprised by the price of admission. I almost went back a second day because of how many things there are to read and look at. 10/10 experience.

Surely one of the world’s best museums. Even though it’s €10 entry, it is great value. I spent 4 hours here, it was so fascinating. You can learn a lot here. The objects are very well looked after and the space itself is quite beautiful.
The staff are bullies though, a little bit. I think perhaps they know they are in a truly incredible place and get too excited about that.
There is a bonus archaeological excavation under the building as part of the ticket.
Don’t forget to take a photo of the Acropolis outside the restaurant on the second floor.
Plaka, a charming hillside neighborhood located at the base of the Acropolis in Athens, has a quaint village atmosphere with narrow cobblestone streets lined with small shops selling jewelry, clothing and ceramics. The area is dotted with sidewalk cafes and family-owned tavernas that stay open until late in the evening. Visitors can enjoy classic movies screened al fresco at Cine Paris or take in the Greek-island vibe of nearby Anafiotika's whitewashed homes.
The Parthenon is an Ancient Greek temple on the Acropolis in Athens. After being built between 447BCE and 432BCE, it was dedicated to the goddess Athena. The temple has been subjected to fires, pirate sackings and military sieges but still stands today.
Absolutely amazing to see this structure still around ! Plenty of areas to take quality pictures! The maintenance is amazing. If you have children remember no strollers are allowed to be prepared to climb the stairs with them !

Parthenon is a former temple on the Athenian Acropolis, Greece, dedicated to the goddess Athena, whom the people of Athens considered their patron. Construction began in 447 BC, when the Athenian Empire was at the peak of it's power. It was completed in in 438 BC, although the decoration continued till 432 BC. The Parthenon is regarded as an enduring symbol of Ancient Greece, Athenian democracy and Western civilization and one of the world's greatest cultural monuments. The temple is generally considered to be the culmination of the development of the Doric order, the simplest of the three Classical Greek architectural orders. Since 2007 the Greek Ministry of Culture is carrying out a selective restoration and reconstruction to ensure the stability of the partially ruined structure. It is better to book the tickets online otherwise be prepared to stand in a long queue for minimum half an hour with no shelter above your head. It is better to visit after 5 PM when cruise and tour traffic is over. The view from the top is stunning. A good walking shoe is must and avoid high heels and don't forget it is a steep walk but doable with reasonable fitness. The lift is available for needy people and on the top it is mostly flat. Parthenon is THE place which can't be missed in Athens...

It is a place of tremendous beauty and history, all rolled into one, it is without doubt a magnificent achievement and seeing the stones in reality, certainly steeps you into their past lives and tragedy. There is a fair amount of uphill walking and little in terms of reading material. Staff quite aggressive when one accidentally walks to a restricted pet, which happens to be unmarked

Completely stunning. I'd highly recommend going early in the day, the wait will be shorter and in summer there is no shade so cooler for walking.
There is a lift if you need more accessibility, but wheelchair users may struggle.

It was very warm- which meant it wasn’t crowded. Don’t go behind the ropes, don’t touch allow the world to enjoy this historic site up close and personal. Even with scaffolding in areas the Parthenon was very accesible visually.

Went back to the Motherland in July (the same week as the heat wave). Didn’t matter had a superb time even with the crowds.
FYI - water is super expressive inside the Parthenon so bring your own or pay up.
It is amazing what the Athenians were able to build and being able to walk around and absorb the ancient history is truly inspiring.
I was able to get some early morning photos which added to the beauty.
I did not buy tickets in advance and I think it only set me back 15 minutes.
FYI - If you are a student or you are traveling with kids bring your kid’s passport to get the student discount. This is to show the age. No negotiation whatsoever. My son is 16 and had his student ID. Didn’t matter, no passport, no discount. So, I had to pay the full price for him.

This is my second visit in the last 10 years. The wow factor is gone, but the sight remains overwhelming. Not suitable for wheelchair and people having difficulty climbing stairs, as there are some steeper slopes and about 90 steps. The best time to go is in spring and fall, and summer temperature could be hot on all the stone and rock surfaces. If you join a tour group that purchased tickets in advance, the wait is above 30 minutes. On your own wait time could be 1-2 hours.

Beautiful archeological site. Graffiti isn’t as bad as with the rest of Athens and no smell of urine. Humans have left their mark however. That said, the acropolis is beautiful. There are no words to review this place. Parthenon is a wonder of our human culture. Built on Acropolis hill, this building is a temple and was used as a mosque and a church under various rulers of Athens. Now, the reconstruction work is going on and the added sculptures are almost 100% ruined but the structure still stands. Visiting Acropolis Museum surely clears the structural idea of the Parthenon.

Breathtakingly beautiful piece of history and architecture. I’d recommend going early in the morning, first thing when the acropolis opens, as it can get very busy and crowded later on during the day. I downloaded the audio guide which was quite good and as I’m a slow reader it helped.
Lots to look at apart from the Panthenon too. Beautiful views over Athens on the terrace/ balcony/ platform.
A must visit !
The Acropolis of Athens is the most important and iconic monument in Greece, and one of the most famous tourist attractions in the world. It is a sacred site dedicated to Athena, and it is where many historic events have taken place including the fall of the Athenian Empire to Sparta in 404 B.C., as well as battles between Athenians and Persians.
Obviously a historic landmark and must see....beautiful part of history with incredible views of Athens ad surrounding coast line.
With any historic landmarks there were unfortunately preservation efforts taking place with equipment and scaffolding which slightly takes away
However there are still plenty photo worthy spots

As for the Acropolis - it's definitely worth it, most impressive and interesting structure, however not my favourite of the top sites. It is great, no doubt, but the crowd is unimaginable, thus you can't really enjoy peaceful exploration. The top site can be explored in about an hour, HOWEVER (!!) be careful not to exit prematurely or you'll have to buy another ticket, depending on where you enter from. There are two entrances: on the top, and from the main street in front of the big glass museum. You should take the lower entrance and ask how to make your way up. I took the upper one, explored the Acropolis, exited, and was not allowed to go in from the other way. And I didn't see a way down through the Acropolis, but... oh well. The view is also good, the structure is in reconstruction, so the best thing about this part were the few statues.

The oldest acropolis in the world. Old, majestic, incredible, magical. I had no idea how this place would swallow me up. We were lucky that there were significantly fewer visitors that day. Some photos look like we are alone on the acropolis. I will never forget this visit.

Truly just a breathe taking experience! Healthy walk with beautiful vegetation all around. Spectacular views! - you can pretty much see all of Athens just stretching out in every direction around you. This place really just left me feeling full of wonderment looking at the beauty and craftsmanship of the marble columns! I could have spent hours up there just relaxing and taking in the views of Athens. Give yourself a minimum of 1+ hours to wonder about, this is not an experience you want to rush through.
Paul Roberts — Google review
Very clean. It was busy, but easy to gain entrance and explore. Wear shoes with good support and traction. The marble surfaces can be extremely slippery and uneven. I would set aside about 3 hours to see this sight.

What an astonishing piece of history!!! I couldn't recommend this monument more wholeheartedly, a brilliant building with a gorgeous history, we were lucky enough that our afternoon visit wasn't so busy, and the overall experience was fantastic. I would only suggest that you purchase tickets early as some mornings can be quite busy, but having the tickets means the que isn't too bad.

Wonderful place to visit! Truly remarkable and full of history and background for great photos. Great views of the city.
To avoid crowds go earlier around 8am. Later it gets crowded and hotter. Went 3pm and it was busy in some areas and difficult to get pictures without strangers.
Buy tickets in advance to avoid longer queues.
Timed entry best to arrive at the scheduled time to avoid having to wait by the entrance.
Walk area is very nice and quiet.
Loads to see so plan to stay roughly 2hrs even more if want to seat around and marvel at the architecture grandiose around.
Kids might get bored as there is nothing interesting for them.
Enough supply of people looking to have the best instagram photo so be patient.

It was a great place to visit. The entrance fee is 10€/person. You should know that those of you who are less than 25 years old, from any European area, can go in for free. Let them know, otherwise, they won’t ask you about it.
The place wasn’t crowded at all (early February).

It's the top place to visit in Greece and for a reason. All the history, the place itself, the constructions, the temples the theaters. Its absolutely a must do. Really enjoyed the view from the top. I would highly recommend to go early to beat the crowds. Its too many tourists and visitors. And it's worth it.

Great views and beautiful structures, just some information DO NOT go in the MORNING you might think that you want to get there early but don’t, so does everyone else that is one of the busiest times.
You aren’t able to eat at the Monuments and i would recommend to bring extra water.
over all a beautiful monument and i enjoyed visiting. PS if you are under 25 and from the EU you can get free tickets if you show your passport.

One of the most intriguing and iconic places. With a rich history and "how the heck this has been built", so interesting to visit this place. It gets very hot during the day so it's better to walk early in the morning or at sunset. A great sunset view across the museum. A must see place.
Perera Boys — Google review
Good iconic place to visit, can be very busy but when we went (mid afternoon) it was quiet (and very hot - there isn't much shade here). A lot of steps to climb so you need to be fairly mobile.

Nice place to be but not that much to do there. A lot of people waited at the ticket booth while there were 2 unused ticket machines nearby. After buying a ticket, the waiting line is incredibly long,l. Tickets must be purchased for a specific time slot. There used to be 23k visitors per day, now it is capped to 20k so there are 'a lot' of people on site anytime.

Stunning views of a historic site. It was impressive to see all the remains and grateful of what has been restored. You will get some of the best views of the city as well as the Greek flag flying in the wind.
Solon Stephanou — Google review
Recommend going early to beat the crowds. It’s a lot of walking and can take up to an hour if you soak it all in. Wear comfy shoes with a decent tread. It can get slippery on some of the smoother stones. I recommend seeing the museum FIRST to learn about it, then visit it in person. Great view!
Vincent Lombardo — Google review
Certainly busier to visit than it was last time I was here 7 years ago. Maybe due to tourist numbers, maybe due to certain changes hurding visitors around like cattle now, maybe due to the extra roping off of areas and walkways giving less freedom to explore. Whichever it is, definitely get tickets in advance....you'll queue longer for those than actually getting in.
Other than that, still a fantastic monument to visit with breath taking views once your at the summit....
Stephen Evans — Google review
I bought my tickets online, adding the audioguide in my home language and it was a fantastic experience, there are so many things to know and if you don't invest a few euros you miss 90% and you will end up just watching carved stones. I suggest joining the first schedule at 8:00 am because very soon the place gets packed and you cannot enjoy or take good pictures.

Amazing site with such a great history and beautiful views of the city.
It definitely worths dedicating some time to visit the place, see the Parthenon and learn about its history through the years.
Tip: Free entrance every first Sunday of the month.

Although it was extremely windy when I visited, the views and being at a site where so much important history took place was well worth the effort. Hold on to the handrails if you need to, but if you’re in Athens, don’t miss the opportunity to visit this majestic place!

Beautiful monument. Incredibly busy, very hot and lots of stairs with smooth marble. None the less you can get great pictures and stunning views of Athens. Go early. The temperature at acropolis is higher than the city temp

Can't say much except that this place was absolutely amazing. I lived every minute of it. The crowds were huge but that did not curve my interest or excitement one bit. Pack some water and maybe some sun block it's hot with pretty much no shade. Put your good traction shoes on as some of the steps can be very slippery even when dry.
Dan (ruffythelongpipe) — Google review
Amazing experience. Well worth the visit. Busy day, but despite the amount of people here the crowds were managed very well. No problems taking photos. If you have luggage there is a free cloakroom to store bags.

Amazing history and architecture, the best time to visit is first thing in the morning or at sunset, but definitely check the closing times so you allow enough time at the top before they start ushering people out. Avoid the middle of the day when many cruise ships come in with tour buses.

A MUST go to place while exploring Athens. Highly recommend going in January like I did, the weather was great and there was wayy less people. Also make sure to get there as early in the day as possible!

Absolutely Amazing!!! This is the perfect time to visit as it wasn't crazy crowded. Weather was perfect with a slight breeze to ease the walk up. Recommend that you go out on the stadium side, more walking and it will bring you out in town near the museum. But you will have additional views and sights as you go down. All missed when exiting through the main entrance.

Not as bad of a walk as I thought to the top. Our guide stopped to talk frequently so you could rest. It was an Amazing place! Do not miss it!! I was in awe! There is an elevator for the truly handicapped to reserve in advance I think. I will remember this trip the rest of my life!

Fantastic, incredible history. More than a lot of places, it benefits from joining a good walking tour or listening to some Athens history podcasts first however. I can't even get into how many firsts seem to have happened here.

Make sure to reserve ahead online tickets to save the wait in the very long line to the tickets office.
The entry line was short and quick.
We enjoyed walking up the hill and the view at the top 360° is amazing. We were lucky to have a very bright weather with view to far ahead in all directions.
Some of the roads to the top can be crowded but mostly we felt there is enough room.
Make sure to equip with hat and water as there isn't too much shade there.

You feel the history when walking around the Acropolis. There are concrete walking paths so anyone can get around safely. There is also an elevator for easy wheelchair accessibility.
The amphitheater at the Asclepieion of Epidaurus, constructed in 340 BCE and made from limestone, is one of the best-preserved Classical Greek structures still standing. It boasts exceptional acoustics; even a dropped coin in its centre can be heard from the highest seat. The theatre accommodates up to 14,000 individuals and features restored Corinthian pilasters flanking its entrance.
This is definitely worth the drive from Athens. In fact, the drive was one of the highlights. The scenery along the way is beautiful. The theater itself is impressive and so are the surrounding ruins. You can see that there have been attempts to reconstruct some of the buildings but it doesn't look like any progress has been made in some time.
Andrew — Google review
Incredible site. Larger in size than Ancient Mycenae, and the restored theater is fabulous. Stroll the full grounds to see layers of history. Good signage with descriptions in both Greek and English. The small Museum is also worth a look. They have the only (?) fully preserved capital of a pillar on display there.
Andy Shaw — Google review
Fantastic and so well-preserved. If you are able, climb to the top and sit in the shade of the trees. It is cool, quiet (though this was in late May, not sure how it would be in high season) and you really get to experience how fantastic the acoustics are, as you can hear so much of what is said at the bottom. Museum and ruins are worth a visit too; on the same site and included in ticket price.
Lynn Trillo — Google review
It is difficult to believe such a well designed was built in the 4th century BC. The sound quality is amazing, so easy to hear from the top. This is a treasure.
The museum is not really worth the time. The hospital is also a site that needs guidance to paint the picture. If you are short on time, head to the amphitheatre.
Rhicke Jennings — Google review
It has natural fantastic acoustics. If you come in a group, split in two. One satying in orchestra ring at the bottom an other half i a top row to feel it. And bear in mind how long ago it was built.

It is a marvel of ancient engineering and artistic achievement. With its impeccable acoustics and stunning architecture, it offers an unparalleled theatrical experience that transports visitors back in time. Surrounded by lush greenery and steeped in history, this magnificent amphitheater is not only a testament to the ingenuity of the ancient Greeks but also a source of inspiration and awe for all who have the privilege of witnessing its splendor. A visit to this historic site promises to be an unforgettable journey into the heart of classical Greece, where the arts flourished and the spirit of innovation thrived.

What a great view. This place is amazing. Can't believe over 2400 years old. Take time to walk up and admire the view from atop. The acoustics are so good. One can stand at center and be heard from the last row.

Pretty surprising this place is still being used today. Especially since it was built in the 4th Century BC. The acoustics are amazing and Tara spoke in a normal tone of voice and I could hear her on the top row. There's also a pretty good museum on site.
Rick Adkins — Google review
Initially lots of antique rocks, but when you visit it you stay speechless, because it's huge and the way it's built gives very good acoustic even to the highest row of the amphitheatre. There's good infrastructure for parking and good tables with information.

The stadium was built over 2400 years ago, but it is very well maintained. I sit at the top of the stadium and can hear people talking and laughing around the keystone and inside the circle. Try clapping your hands as you walk around different parts of the circle. The sound effect is amazing.

The acoustics are excellent. This is one of the few remaining ancient amphitheaters in existence and probably the best preserved.
If you are lucky and get to watch a performance there, you will feel the magical atmosphere, as you make the time travel thousands of years ago.
A must see in this area
From Athens is a 2 hour drive, my recommendation is after this experience to go to Nafplio, it’s a 45 minute drive from there.
It’s enchanting, worth staying one or two days there also.

Fascinating ancient amphitheater that has the best acoustics in the world which are still not fully understood - limestone, channels in seating, positioning in the hillside, other contributing factors… plus the site still hosts live theater & music every summer! It’s fun to try it out yourself; stand in the center of the stage and whisper a message- it will be heard clearly at the top row. Added bonus is the small but interesting museum with artifacts found on the site including a World Heritage site of ancient medicine.

The theatre as an archaeological site is definitely worth the traveler’s attention. A magnificent piece of architecture and acoustics still holds performances in the summer. The museum is small but you can get all the information needed to understand the function of the site as a whole.
Apart from the theatre there was a complex with various buildings, including temples and sanctuaries, dorms, baths, a stadium and of course the temple of Asclepius where people received treatment through the process of enkoimesis.
You can also enjoy the nature around the site with all its peace and tranquility.
There is a museum shop and a cafe as well.

We came here just for the theatre but had a fantastic time with the museum and site of the sanctuary of Asclepius too. The theatre's acoustic is remarkable and as excellent as everyone says. It's an experience unlike any other. The museum is small, but packed with interesting items for the history of medicine and close views of some architectural sculpture. The site of the sanctuary of Asclepius has some great way finding signage. The billboards for the individual buildings are not very well designed for non-experts, but the chance to wander through some ancient ruins was excellent. We were charged 12 euros for the whole visit, which is pricier than other local sites but well worth it in my opinion.

Like any Greek theater, this place is magnificent. This is of course my first visit to Greece and this stopover was worth it. Despite the large number of tourists visiting this place, entry is smooth. No more than 5 minutes to get the entrance ticket (it's in October so that's understandable). In 1h30, you can visit the theater and the archaeological site. It's truly magnificent, you go back in time in the blink of an eye. If you go to Greece, take a trip to Epidavros, a calm and quiet town, especially the ancient town.
This imposing Venetian-built fortress is a popular tourist destination with amazing views of the Argolic Gulf. It was used as a fortress and prison by successive rulers, but is now one of the town's main attractions with its iconic interlocking bastions that you can walk along. The fortress can be reached either by steep ascent on foot or a short drive from the town.
Visited early on a February morning (8:30) open time and there were only a couple of other people in the whole complex.
Admission is 4.50 winter
We drove up but you can also climb about 900 stairs to the top.
Great views of Nafplio and the super yacht Maltese Falcon.

If you are visiting Nafplio, I wouldn't miss visiting the Fortress. My girlfriend, our 12 year old daughter and I were here and spent roughly 3 hours exploring and we had a very nice and tiring time. Be prepared to duck, crouch and thoroughly enjoy yourself. Beautiful surroundings and it wasn't crowded at all.

Visited March 31st. The spring has bloomed. Flowers everywhere. Purple and red colors. The climb to the top was difficult since my sister and myself are not the fittest people on earth. But the climb was WORTH IT. Views are to die for. Highly recommend. Tickets are €4 up until March 31st and after that beginning April 1st they are €8. Pricey tickets but worth it. We were tired by the time we climbed up so we took a taxi back down to our hotel. Taxi costs €10.

🏰 Fortress of Palamidi 🌄
What an awe-inspiring fortress! The Fortress of Palamidi perched high above Nafplio offers breathtaking views of the town and the sea. Its impressive architecture and historical significance make it a must-visit destination for history buffs like myself. The climb up the steep steps was well worth the effort as I explored the various bastions and enjoyed the panoramic vistas. The rich history and well-preserved structure make this place a captivating experience. If you're in Nafplio, don't miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in this magnificent piece of Greek history. Highly recommended!

Palamidi is an impressive fort above Nafplio with outstanding views. Be aware that it's around 1000 steps(!) to the very top up the stairway. It's quite expensive to get in though, the ticket office is at the top and it's E8 per person (kids under 18 free, and also discounts for 18-25s from EU countries). There's a prison cell and a small church at the top, along with a small cafe and toilets. Worth it for the views, but only just. If you want to save some cash you can just hike 2/3 of the way up the stairs and enjoy the view... But do it before midday when the sun starts shining on the stairway...

A large fortress on top of the highest point in the area, with fantastic and commanding views of the whole area. It gets very busy at weekends, especially just after the schools break up. You have to be physically able to attempt the climb up the stairs. The alternative is the road entrance although parking is limited.

This great archeological sight showcases both great architecture and the jail cell of a man who participated in the Greek war for independence. It's a great place to visit if you are staying in Nafplio. I spent quite a long time here, looking at every crevice and the picturesque view. It would have been quite a great idea to explain the cell and the general fortress in a better way. For example to show the history of it and the events that took place there. Sure there were some signs but they did not specify anything.

Walking the 950+ stairs is a challenge and dangerous in parts. But the rewards are many with an ice cold water fountain at the ticket booth and some stunning views. The site itself is brilliant. Very large and again some very dangerous areas where you could plunge to your death but with care and being sensible, climbing over this structure and reading its history is brilliant.

Amazing place of history. An expansive site. Views to die for. We arrived by car. Not a lot of parking available but lucky it was the off season (early October). I did notice that there was a open top hop on hop off bus that probably came from Napflion. Would probably be the best option in peak season instead of the 99 steps or drive.

The Corinth Canal is a remarkable achievement of engineering spanning several centuries. Conceived by an Ancient Corinth ruler, started by Roman emperor Nero, and finished in the 19th century by the French, it's over 6km long and 23m wide with vertical sides towering over 90m above water. The canal played a significant role in elevating Piraeus' status as a prominent Mediterranean port.
I think it is one of the must-see locations on the way to Nafplio. The canal was built in late 1800s. However, as far as ı read, a landslides was occurred in the slopes of the canal. The Greek government decided to remove the debris and re-open the canal in 2021. however, we visited the canal in April 2022 and it was still closed to ship traffic.

I think this is a must see. The canal is long and narrow with beautiful tall cliffs on either side. The water is a strikingly beautiful blue when the sun directly hits it. You can watch boats make their way through the canal. It is about an hour drive from Athens airport, but it is a cool way to see the Greek countryside. There is a bungee jump there called Zulu Bungee which I highly recommend. You can even go there and watch other people jump from the viewing area above. There is ample paking and a bridge that you. an also walk out on to see the canal better. Also there is a nicely maintained restroom across the street.

The Corinth Canal is a man-made canal in Greece, that connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometers (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 meters (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. It is currently of little economic importance becoming mainly a tourist attraction.

Vlado ST — Google review
The canal was initially proposed in classical times and a failed effort was made to build it in the 1st century AD.[4] Construction recommenced in 1881 but was hampered by geological and financial problems that bankrupted the original builders. It was completed in 1893, but, due to the canal's narrowness, navigational problems, and aperiodic closures to repair landslides from its steep walls, it failed to attract the level of traffic expected by its operators.

This spot is not easy to get to, there are no proper road and have to drive through mud road. So be prepared if you want to get here. The view aren’t that magnificent as well. I would suggest taking a look at it from one of the bridges and passes the canal.
However if you would still come to this spot, I have attached some pictures that hopefully will help you find the entrance which is next to the petrol station - as you can see no proper road. Safe trip!

For a 19th century canal, it is impressive.
But not quite my thing.
You can also do a bunging jumping from the bridge.
The area itself did not have much to do.
It is probably something you do because is near somewhere else you're visiting. We were going to Temple of Hera and this was on the way.
There were some suffering stray cats too, so a bit heartbreaking. Please bring something for the lil kitties if you visit.

Loved this boat ride down the canal. The bridge goes down into the water and the boats go over it and down the straight canal to the other end. Very relaxing and nice boat ride. You get to see both ends of the canal and then turn around and go back. There is a tribute to Nero who started the project at the one end on the Corinth side.
The Delphi Archaeological Museum houses a vast collection of architectural sculptures, statues, and other precious objects donated to the ancient Greek oracle from the 8th century BC onwards. It is a matter of debate whether to visit the museum or site first, as both offer unique experiences. The museum provides visitors with insights into what the site may have looked like during its prime, featuring wealthy buildings and vividly coloured statues.
The museum is right next to the Delphi ruins and holds most of the (small) items found on the site and the more monuments/decorative stones used on the buildings.
The museum isn't that big and takes the general visitor less than half an hour.
Including the Delphi ruins this is a sight worth seeing.

Really incredible museum and building! Loved how the building stands on stilts overtop of an archaeological site with several places to view from. It's easy to understand why it has won so many awards with its thoughtful design that compliments the exhibits without taking away from them. Note that you are not allowed to bring backpacks into the museum. I was asked to check my backpack but it was free and an efficient system. No worries there.

Archaeological site and museum locate beside each other, just off the road. Finally, found a spot in 5 – 10 minutes’ walk. Since no specific parking lot provided, there is a chance, need to go back and forth to find a spot after somebody’s leaving. Staff were very nice and welcome. Site is located in the heights and good looking landscape. You would see different nationality, professional and nice travelers, interested in history. There was some information about monument but it could be more. There were some shops for statues and souvenirs with good price. Still there is a chance to negotiate. Local people were welcome to provide information, to help to find parking spot, and to show the ways.

Visiting the Delphi archaeological site and museum was an unforgettable journey into the heart of ancient Greece. The site itself, nestled on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, offers breathtaking views and a palpable sense of history. Exploring the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, the theater, and the stadium was like stepping back in time, imagining the rituals and competitions that once took place there.
The museum, with its impressive collection of artifacts, beautifully complements the outdoor experience. From intricately carved statues to delicate pottery, each exhibit tells a story of the people who once inhabited this sacred place. The highlight for me was seeing the iconic Charioteer statue up close, its serene expression and masterful craftsmanship truly awe-inspiring.
The staff at both the site and the museum were knowledgeable and passionate, adding depth to the experience with their insights and anecdotes. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking to connect with the past, a visit to Delphi is a must-do. It's a place where ancient wonders come to life, leaving a lasting impression on all who have the privilege to explore its treasures.

We were very pleased to make our visit to Delphi including the archaeological museum. All of those things that we have read and heard about all our lives regarding Apollo and his role in Greek history were brought to life. We really enjoyed our visit.

What an amazing place to visit!!! Full of monuments, stunning status and offers to the Gods! I am so proud to be Greek Origin and very happy to see all these historic places…congratulations to people, devoted to this sacred place!
PS I recommend to visit very early in the morning to see the sun rising up the mountains…ones in a lifetime experience

Incredible history behind an ancient center of religion. Imagine asking and then getting advice from a woman who babbled from inhaled vapors which then were interpreted by priests in a vague manner so as to allow the questioner to figure out the answer for themselves. And then the vast mini temples and tributes to the Oracle...
It blows the mind as to how powerful and influential this place was.

Good museum. You definitely need an engaging tour guide to get proper context and history behind each display. The museum felt a little congested and the air conditioning is bad. No proper ventilation. Overall a good museum to visit. Just make sure to grab a fan to get yourself some air.

Worth the drive - don't miss Delphi!
This was one of the best parts of the our Greek trip! Delphi is so beautiful and magical. It was worth the two hour drive from Athens. We took a tour with Getaways Greece which was a day trip. The vistas were just beautiful on the drive. Once you get to Delphi it's like you're transported to somewhere magical! I loved it better than Acropolis which was so touristy. The crowds were sparse here and it was lovely to take in the sites at your own pace without being herded like cattle.
Mind you it does take a bit of walking if you want to get to the top to see the stadium. But even if you don't go all the way to the top it is still a beautiful place to visit and you can still get a lot out of it without going to the top. Wear comfortable shoes.

Beautiful museum and incredible site to explore. We had a private guide that explained all of the historical significance of the site.
I'll just add one warning: the incline is steep and the steps are uneven. If mobility is an issue, as it was for me, making it to the top to see the theater, may not be possible.

Nice musium! Very explanatory through the texts that describe the different monuments! It is relatively small thus it is not getting boring for smaller children lets say. It combines the outside area of Delphi that is very pretty with a beautiful view! A pleasant experience for sure!

This museum wasn't too bad, especially since the ticket to the Sanctuary of Apollo came with the museum ticket. For the size of the place, I was kind of expecting it to be wall to wall artifacts and it really wasn't. With the museum and the archeological sites, maybe took a few hours to read about and take in.
Brian Morton — Google review
If your visiting Delphi this is a must see. The museum really helps put the ruins in perspective and context. Lots of ancient artifacts found at the site. It's very affordable and not huge, I wouldn't see spending more than maybe a few hours.
Erica Seegrist — Google review
Great place to visit if you're in the area. Plenty to see and learn during this site.
The path is nicely laid out, and you should be able to see everything should you follow the correct path.
The archeological site also offers an amazing view of the mountains, especially as you get higher towards the stadium.
The ticket price also offers entry into the museum, which offers historic displays and artefacts from the archeological site.
Don't forget to visit the other two archeological sites just a little further down the road (gymnasium and Athena... Something - should be visible on Google Maps).
Walkable to and from the town of Delphi as well, so you can definitely spend a good few hours there, wandering around and learning about this site and its historical importance.

Delphi Archeological site is a jewel. Wear good shoes and bring a hat! Even at 8 am in middle of May, there were already tour buses, so be aware there will be crowds.
Lise Anne Janis — Google review
An exceptional archaeological site as well as a museum. It is not indicated anywhere, but due to the extreme heat, the working hours have been changed. In the morning they work from 8h to 13h and then from 17:30h to 20h. The disadvantage is that children from 12 to 25 years old outside the European Union are not entitled to free entry but pay half price.

I would advise doing this with a guide if your interested in more then just taking photos. You get a much more in depth experience and an understanding of what your looking at. Museum and the temple ruins were amazing. Note the stadium is about 10-15 mins further up from the ruins.

A great museum and extraordinary archeological site. The admission price of €12 gives you access to both. So the site early as it gets hot and the museum after. Also you avoid the crowds if you go early. Amazing history and buildings.

If you are going to Meteora stop here and enjoy this place. The drive is amazing and so is the small town a mile down the road. This place has very complete ruins which are awesome.

Not too big but interesting, best to go after visiting the main site as you'll have an idea where many of the things on exhibit were from. Good written information, you'll get a lot even without a tour guide. It can be packed with tours, plan between 20 and 60 minutes depending on how much you want to read and the crowds to squeeze through.

The Delphi Archaeological Museum, nestled in the heart of Greece, serves as a mesmerizing window into the ancient world, showcasing the rich cultural and religious heritage of the Delphic sanctuary, revered throughout antiquity as the home of the famous oracle. This museum is a treasure trove of history, housing an extensive collection of artifacts that span thousands of years, including the iconic Charioteer of Delphi, the Sphinx of Naxos, and the remnants of the Temple of Apollo. The exhibits, arranged chronologically, offer a comprehensive overview of the development of the art and thought of ancient Greece, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts. Beyond its historical significance, the museum's location offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and mountains, adding a layer of natural beauty to the experience. Visiting the Delphi Archaeological Museum is not just a journey into the past; it's an opportunity to connect with the wisdom and artistry of ancient civilizations, making it a pivotal stop for anyone exploring Greece's rich heritage.

A definite highlight of my families Greek vacation. Come stand at the Temple of Apollo and imagine it's 7th century BC and your about to ask the Oracle a question. The grounds here take you back to a time that predates most of what we know about history. Beautiful museum to see and then walk through what used to be ancient Delphi and make your way to the amphitheatre at the Pinnacle.

You can visit this amazing place from parking to peak in an hour. And if you do, you're cheating yourself. If you don’t want to leave with regrets, commit at least four hours for this exploration of antiquities and yourself. We were on a private tour. It was supposed to be a small group of 6 to 8 people. But we were the only customers that day so it was my partner, myself, our guide and our driver. It was perfect! Do not, I repeat, do NOT book a large group tour! You will be one of 60 people wearing a headset, separated from everyone, in your private purgatory, trying to stay within range of your distant guide’s transmission. But don’t trust me. “Know thyself.” Know for yourself. Visit & form your own opinions.

A must visit the museum. There are so many artifacts that were in very good condition or very well restored. One should visit the site first and then visit the museum. There are no restrooms inside the museum, you need to go out for that. Also make sure to check the time slot in your ticket, and visit the museum within that time to avoid issues.
Delphi is a modern town located west of the ancient archaeological site. The town was established to accommodate the population of Castro, which had to be relocated for the excavation of the ancient Delphi site. Ancient Delphi, situated on Mt Parnassos with views of the Gulf of Corinth and surrounded by olive trees, is considered one of Greece's most spiritually significant archaeological sites.
Koukounaries Beach is a crescent-shaped beach located in the southwest of Skiathos Island. It's a popular and picturesque spot with soft sand, shallow blue-green water, and a beautiful pine forest that runs along the back of the beach. The area is well-organized with plenty of sunbeds, water sports facilities, and cafes within walking distance.
Lovely beach but unfortunately when we visited early Sept it was raining and cloudy
Alison Taylor — Google review
Very nice beach! I cant say for the main season, but in september it is not overcrowded. There is plenty of sunbeds. Usually, the first two rows are more expensive (30e) but the rest are 10e for umbrela and 2 sunbeds. There is some natural shade to put the towels down. But, beware, there is a lot of pointy pine leaves. Beach bars are nothing special. Water is great, crystal clear, a lot of fish swimming around. 2 swans usually swim around also. The beach is accessible from stop 26 or 23, Depends which part you prefer. Near stop 23 there is a well supplied market, 500m from the beach. Sadly, yeou cant walk all the way around the nearby lake, but nevertheless, combined with cleared roads through the forest, it can be a great place for a run. Around the lake you can bump into some rabbits and ducks. If you are on Skiathos, definitely a must see!

At Koukounaries beach, it's a slice of paradise. Crystal-clear water, tranquil spring vibes. Golden sand glistening in the sun. Plus, the magic touch? A lush forest just steps away. Nature's haven, right in front of you. During spring, it's remarkably serene, offering a quiet escape. The water's so clear, you can see straight to the bottom. And the best part? During spring and winter the beach isn't crowded, allowing for a peaceful sunbathing session. Koukounaries truly captures the essence of natural beauty, with its stunning coastline and the nearby forest adding to its allure. A must-visit for anyone seeking tranquility amidst nature's splendor.
Panagiotis Symeonidis — Google review
The beach is indeed very nice, having the forest nearby is a big plus, you can rest in the shades. The water is very child friendly as it goes deep very smooth...e.g. in 5 m water is 50cm deep. Water sports / activities can be dobe here (scuba, skijet, ski, banana etc.). The missing star from my review goes to the food that can be found here as the menu contains just junk/fast food. Not even a single taverna to offer some grill fish or fresh sea food. Mainly burgers, fries, nuggets, some pre-done salads and other frozen products. For my family this was a big minus. As for the second "covid" year ...it was not crowded at all. Cheers !

Nice sandy beach with a lot of free facilities. It is accessible to people with disabilities, equipped with Seatrac. They have showers and round shaped, beach changing rooms, that take everyone by surprise because they stop to explore what is that round beige/ecru colored structure under the pine trees.
There are a lot of rows of sunbeds, even some under the pine trees. But you can also find a spot on the sand if you do not wish to pay for a sunbed, although on a sunny day it gets crowded fast. There is also the possibility to go diving or do water sports.
The beach has coffee/restaurant/bar shops that also offer snacks if you like to have a lunch. A lot of people choose to visit it during rainy days just to sit and enjoy a quick bite next to the sea.
It is ideal to visit if the wind comes from the North as it doesn’t get affected, being covered by the pine trees, you can still swim. It has a bus stop, only a few meters from its entrance and in general it is easily accessible by any type of vehicle.
Overall, it is probably the most organized beach on the whole of the island and in a magnificent scenery, adjacent to Limni (lake) Strofilias, which is a protected biotope.

Beautiful beach reachable by bus and car.
Car park is available.
To get here you need to stop at bus stop 23 or 26. Bus is 2E
Water its very clear and beautiful, I think its warmer than other beaches too.

The beach is nice, but that's only if you like crowds.
It is long, so naturally there are lots of people. But you can always find free umbrellas with sunbeds (price in August 15€).
They serve food and drinks to your sunbeds or you can stand up and choose one of few beach restaurants with fast food.
The beach offers watersports and also very good diving school. And that was the only reason we went there twice.

The second most famous beach of Skiathos ( Lalaria is #1 ). It is a nice beach but overestimated IMHO. It is by no means a bad beach. It's sandy, the water is at a nice temperature and there are plenty of sunbeds all over the place. The beach bars have reasonable prices ( compared to other famous beaches of other islands ). Small and big Aselinos and Tsougria beaches and Lalaria are nicer however. Koukounaries on the other hand has plenty of activities such as diving schools and equipment, water sports for everyone and beach bars. If you want that laid back sensation, then go to little Aselinos, it's a no brainer.

This is a great beach with fine sand and very clear waters - you can see the fish swimming. It is sorounded by pine trees which make a lovely view - careful though at the pine needles -don t go barefoot near the trees. There are clean public toilets, no charge, and lots of changing booths.

The tourist beach. Lots of people, sand beach. 2 chairs and umbrella 15€. Bars with service to beach chairs. Some paid water activities. Pine trees offer shade. For 3€ each way bus from town stops right at beach. Skiathos has lots of really scenic beaches.

Paul Olteanu — Google review
Lovely long, clean and wide sandy beach backed by pine and cypress woodland. Beach is predominantly covered by sunbeds with a few spaces for those preferring to lay a towel on the sand. Sunbeds pricey at €15 for cheapest pairs. Some of the luxury sofa types and near sea are more expensive. Refreshments can be ordered and paid for at the sunbed. Sand is soft and has gentle slope into the sea which is clear and free of stones and rocks so ideal for swimming. The beach can get very busy in high season. Some resources here such as pedalos, ski and dive school, speed water-rides etc for the more adventurous types. Decent toilet facilities and beach bars. The beach is well served by local bus from stops 23 east side of beach and 26 for the west side. Also accessible by water taxi from skiathos Town. Good car parking nearby too.

The airplant leave us around 6-7 am on the island and we was no welcome to our hotel until 12am. So I had the idea to take the bus and visit "Koukounaries" early in the morning. We was very tired but we said go to the beach and relax a bit. Around 8am we was in this beach. We see many green trees there and we start to move in the beach. But the image was unbelievable. This famous and gorgeous beach was alone there for us. No one was there cause the early time. We just sit there, the sea has 0 wind and we just look all this gorgeous beach without people. Wow.. This is something that many people want to feel once.
We enter and the water was shallow and very clean. It was like a mirror. The sand was amazing and soft but on eye probably was the most beautiful sand I have ever see. It was very bright gold. Almost yellow. I felt I was in some tropical island even thought, this beach has nothing to envy against tropical beaches. If you see this beach without people and wind, probably you will felt in love forever.
We took pictures and we just sit there and watch this beach empty and calm. After 1 hour the people start to come and around 11:30 we gone with plenty memories in our heads.
Overall, one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen and one of the most serious. All in this beach are gorgeous and great.

Plenty of been cafes/Bars to get food and drinks.
Plenty of water sports available.

Plenty of pine trees for extra shade if required.

- pine trees lining up along the beaches
- Crystal-clear water offers visibility of swimming litte fishes.
- Ideal for families with babies/toddlers due to shallow and calm water (Blue Flag beach with fine sand, no need for aqua shoes). Also decent playground on West Side for small kids.
- decent changing facilities, toilets and showers.
- Sunbeds available at 15 euros for a pair and an umbrella, consistent pricing along the entire long sandy beach.
- Grocery store at one end, swans & geese can be spotted at the other.

Meteora Monasteries, a World Heritage site consisting of six Eastern Orthodox monasteries, are located in Kalambaka. These monasteries were built on top of rock pillars amidst breathtaking scenery and fresh air. To reach the location safely, it is recommended to hire a car and drive carefully due to the presence of scary curves on the way.
One of the places that gives you the feeling that you have reached heaven, when you are actually in the world.
Despite the distance from Athens or Thessaloniki the journey to Meteora is particularly worthwhile, you can get there by train independently or alternatively book a guided tour in advance. It is very important to arrive in modest attire, long pants and a skirt for women, in addition to T-shirts, it is recommended to arrive in the spring, summer and fall season, enjoy

I went here on an organised coach tour from Corfu. You can can get some stunning pictures of the rock formations by the side of the road at various points before going to any of the monasteries. The limited stopping spaces can become very busy at times. The tour I was on visited two monasteries. At the first monastery we made our way up quite a few steps to pay the first entrance fee of 3 EUR. There are a few spots on the way up to take more pictures.
Fortunately we had an English speaking guide included in the tour price which really helped to understand the history and the meaning of the paintings etc.Definitely worth it if you can have a guided tour. We spent about an hour here
The second monastery was down a lot of steps then up to pay the entrance fee. Again the guide explained about the history to provide some context. There were also a few information boards to read in English. We stayed here for approximately 45 minutes. Toilet facilities were available at both places along with small gift shops. Modest clothing is required and ladies have to purchase a covering if they are not wearing a skirt. Great opportunity to see a wonderful UNESCO heritage site. You could spend all day here if you walked around and went to a few more monasteries.

Wonderful places!! It's definitely worth a visit or a day trip from nearby cities or Thessaloniki. (About 3 hours drive each way)
There is dress code for men and women. Men: long pants; women: long skirts.
They do have some cover up cloth for those guests who may need it.
Don't worry about the stairs, they are in good condition and enjoy the view as you get there.
Remember to being cash for the ticket (3 euro per adult visitor).
Roads are narrow and windy to go up or down as you enter the area. If you are easy to get car sick, be prepared for some remedies.
Avoid the peak tourist times if you can to enjoy the places quietly and leisurely. They are not very big, but so have some detailed religious work can be observed. Along with some Greek and English explanations.
Do watch out for signs for where photos or video not allowed. Be respectful and considerate. Enjoy your time and follow the rules and guidelines there. Don’t forget to visit the shops there to see if you may want to pick up some items.

Breathtaking. I visited the area on a tour, and all the 3 monasteries we visited, and the other 3 we only saw from the outside, were sitting in some of the most gorgeous locations, hanging up on the columns.
Each monastery costs 3 euros to enter. Be aware that most of them, except "The Monastery of St. Stephan", aren't accessible to people in wheel chairs, and there is a fair amount of stairs everywhere.

The combination of the unusual rock formations and the medieval monasteries sitting on their peaks makes Meteora a very unique place. Very nice place to visit but it all depends on the time you have on hand. From Athens is a total of 8hrs bus drive and with the time spent there you will easily be gone from Athens for 15- 16 hrs. The tour I joined they visited 3 monasteries with around 40 to 50 min allocates to each, for an inside visit. Some of the monasteries have lost of stairs to climb so if your are not a fit person , just take it slow.
The monasteries , some of them are lived by only a small handful of nuns or monks , which you may or may not see if you are there .
The place and views are beautiful so if you have the time to spare , just go for it!

This is one place in Greece I definately recommend seeing. A Unesco Heritage site that stimulate all senses when seen in person! It wasn't cheap nor easy getting there, 5 or 6 tolls each way, 4.5 hour drive from Athens, but it was worth the effort. A place few people had heard off, but gaining in popularity for good reason. Imagine monasteries pearch high up on monolithic steep rock formations, its like a city in the clouds. No picture or video can do this place justice. Just Go!

A wonderful visit to the monasteries of Meteora. Read up on them first. Look at all the photos you want: no photo does the place justice.
There are 6 active active monasteries out of 24. Well worth the entry fee (3€ per person). Visit the shops for mementos.
Toilets are available in town and in the monasteries. I would recommend checking out the monastery toilets, it's an experience 😉.
One word of note: there is always one monastery that is closed, so make sure if you want to enter a particular one, if it's closed on your visiting day.

Great building and Tower. Not really white ;) Though the second biggest city in Greece, Thessaloniki does really feel smaller - a plus, I consider, for such a historic city. There are many historical sites all over Thessaloniki, many of which are not widely known. On Google Maps, just tap the compass to see these, filter by attractions and distance, it'd bring attractions near you and just explore.

The view is mesmerizing. You can see the whole city, mountains, sea,.. easily. But, other than that not much for the castle itself. But I liked the old town and streets. It was a calm place and nice to walk in the town.

A beautiful view of the sea and Thessaloniki. However, it can be windy there, so you have to be careful with your phone. The ticket price is right. There are additional exhibitions inside, and entry is free for EU citizens under 25 years of age.

The White Tower in Thessaloniki is an iconic landmark and a must-visit destination for tourists exploring the city. Situated along the waterfront, it offers panoramic views of the city and the Aegean Sea from its top observation deck. The tower itself is steeped in history, having served various purposes throughout the centuries, including as a fortress, a prison, and now as a museum showcasing Thessaloniki's rich cultural heritage. Inside, visitors can explore fascinating exhibits, artifacts, and displays that provide insight into the city's past. The surrounding area is vibrant, with plenty of cafes, shops, and cultural attractions nearby, making it an ideal spot to spend a few hours soaking in the atmosphere of this beautiful city. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or simply enjoying the view, the White Tower is a must-see attraction that promises an unforgettable experience.

The cost to enter the building was 3 euros. Nothing is written in English. You would have to pay for and audible device to listen to for the tour. Just FYI is to watch your head. Most of the ceilings and the entrances to each rooms are built for Hobbits. I did really enjoy the overall experience though. The view on the very top was beautiful. I would recommend to see this place.

Very nice place. I was there in December so no queues and very little people. There is a nice view from the top. Definitely worth going up. In each floor there is a small exhibition, for example of old photos (how does this tower and it's neighborhood looked like hundred years ago). Small gift shop at the top floor. I think people up to 26 years have a free entrance. View from the top is amazing.
Barbora Kotasov? — Google review
The best place for a great view. The tower offers a spot for a watch over the city center and the port. The tower is a museum now days and you will have to pay 6 euro entering it. Inside there are a round stairs surrounding the tower all the way up. Nice and fun for taking pictures on the back of the great views of the city.

One of the best places in Thessaloniki if not the best great area touristic lovely and extremely adorable.
Souvenirs and good people around lovely sweet areas to sit and good view around.
Highly recommended and highly adored.
Will definitely come back.

Not to crowded. Bought the tickets as soon as we entered. Scanned QR code for the audio guide and enjoyed our tour. There's a lot to learn and see about Thessaloniki's history. When you get to the top you'll be rewarded with the astonishing view of the city.

Very fun learning experience. Scanned the QR code for an English audio. We entered for Free on the National Free Museum day. For tall people, mind your head in most of the inside. Wonderful view from the top!

What a cool historical spot! Well worth the 3 euro to get in and it was fun being able to go to the top and look out! So much history to explore here!

It's worth going up to see the view from the top. I didn't find the museum as interesting. They provide audio guides in a variety of languages but these are far too long and the voice is rather monotonous. I already learnt about the history on various tours I had done across Thessaloniki, so I had a good understanding of the history and significance of the White Tower beforehand.
Jo-Anne Samuels — Google review
The Tower is a relic of the city’s fortification. Currently a museum of the history of Thessaloniki. The entrance costs 3 euro and you better take that audio guide with you (it’s free od charge) because everything is only in greek. Six floors of interesting content and a balcony with a magnificent view. Prepare yourself for some stairs (start a week before on that stair climber at your gym ;)).
Pan Piotr — Google review
A beautiful place with a panorama. The ticket (6€) includes an audio guide in 4 languages (English and Russian for sure), but you need your own headphones for the audio guide. This surprised me a little. There are a lot of installations inside, but everything is in Greek and an audio guide would help to understand more. At the very top there is a beautiful panorama of the city around.
Ira Noskova — Google review
Had to be visited as the main attraction point in Thessaloniki. The area around it is great and externally it is an impressive building. The view from the top is great but than again it is not hugely tall and after a few photos I assume you get down.
I can't see the appeal of the exhibition inside unless you are Greek speaking.
There is not a single English description next to the exhibitions.
Audio guide recommended by QR code was: done poorly and not good to walk through the exhibitions (single audio track per floor). You can't listen to it on mobile unless you had earphones on you or quickly each floor is filled with cacophony of multiple visitors listening loudly on mobile.
Google lens for translation worked on some exhibits but is will drain your mobile battery quickly.
This could easily be improved.
Sam Aberman — Google review
It is kind of a place populated by homeless people. You can take a boat tour here, but I did not really like it overall as it is not really friendly for tourists infrastructure wise and information points or clean spaces or benches to sit outside in the shade when there is very hot to be outside.
Ana Vivdici — Google review
The icon of Thessaloniki with great view from the top of the tower.
If you want to visit the museum, then you should think about a combined 3 days ticket. It will allow you to visit 3 museums in the city and Rotunda. So you can spare some money. It costs 15€.

A notable landmark in the centre of Thessaloniki. A great place for photography. ❤️No far away is the Cultural route bus stop, where you can take bus 50 to get around the city in 50 minutes. Tickets can be bought on the bus. (~2 euro) Walk from stop 10 or 11 to the beach. Amazing!

Thessaloniki is a beautiful city with access to the sea, a rich history and a lot of things to visit. One of those is the white tower about which there are complaints. They don't have a guide in the Serbian language, even though most of the tourists are from Serbia, and they charge us more for the ticket because we are not in the European Union.

The White Tower was the first place we visited after check-in into our hotel and I am really glad we did as each floor gave us a thorough introduction to the layers of history that makes up Thessaloniki. Well worth the visit.

Must go monument. Worth the visit. Beautiful view of the sea front line of Thessaloniki. You can learn a lot of Thessaloniki's history and see some old photos on how Thessaloniki looked like at the beginning of the 20th century

White tower was nice, even in the off season was still surrounded by tourists. We enjoyed the boats outside which do small rides for 30 minutes we enjoyed but you have to buy drink as a condition.

The White Tower was really nice. Personally I was positively shocked that when the cashier asked us for the ID, and we said that we are from Poland, we got the free tickets so that was really good.
Inside there is a museum with the history of Thesaloniki described from a lot of different perspectives like: migration, historical, geographical, commercial, artistic etc.
At the very top there is a view point where you have a 360° view for Thesaloniki.
Also there is a free audio guide (you have a QR code that you have to scan with your phone) and a free WiFi. It is recommended to take headphones with you to be able listen to the audio guide.

The most known place of Thessaloniki. The tower is dominating the area. Thousands of people flock on this area at times. It's one of the most popular spots in town for many reasons and it's the main city attraction.
Aristotelous Square is a vast public square in the heart of Thessaloniki, Greece that is surrounded by some of the citys most luxurious residences and cafes. Designed by Ernest Hebrard, the square features an impressive view of Mt Olympus and was originally built to showcase the citys Byzantine heritage. Today, its buildings are home to a diverse range of architects and boast a grand rhythm reminiscent of the rue du Rivoli.
Really busy and buzzing Square full of action. There is a cinema nearby, the lovely beach, shops and restaurants alike, making it a hot-spot for tourists. Thoroughly enjoyed the area, stretching further to other busy spots without noticing the walk. I'd suggest walking around and searching your preferences on Google Maps to find the right food place, though I'd strongly suggest traditional restaurants. Checkout my reviews of restaurants in Thessaloniki. There are loads of things to see and do around.

I loved the feeling of openness to the sea... it's amazing! We followed tradition and touched Aristotels large toe so we will most definitely return to Greece!
Alexandra Branea — Google review
An indispensable part of the city’s heritage. This type of architecture demonstrates how unique this place is. The only downside is that the government should be stricter with vandalism and pay more attention to damages happening throughout the years in an attempt to retain the area intact and beautiful. The square could also comprise mini shops or activities for the visitors, instead of being a large empty square solely used for walking. The area should be treated more as a landmark, than being empty and just surrounded by nice buildings and a bus stop.

Thessaloniki, a vibrant city with a rich history and lively atmosphere, captivates visitors with its blend of ancient charm and modern flair. The city's enchanting streets and waterfront offer a feast for the senses, making it a must-visit destination. However, planning a visit during the Christmas period may pose challenges, as finding a parking spot can be a daunting task. Despite this, the spectacular sunset over the cityscape serves as a breathtaking compensation, casting a warm and golden glow that enhances Thessaloniki's allure. Consider timing your visit outside the holiday rush for a more relaxed experience.

Nice open place. Beautiful ocean site. Shops and restaurants all around. Many of the tourist attractions are within 7-12min walking distance (Agia Sofia Square Church, Ancient Agora/Roman Forum of Thessaloniki, Agios Dimitrios, The Rotunda, Arch Of Galerius, etc). We had a 6hrs stopover, on our flight from Frankfurt to Athens, so we took the opportunity to check out Thessaloniki, the ancient capital of Macedonia! The airport shuttle took around 45minutes (Bey Hamam bus stop). Cost only 2€ pp! Taxis are available too. Everyone speaks English and very helpful and kind. The bus stop (we found) to return to the airport was 1 min from Arch of Galerius. Across from Holy Church of Panagia Dexia. Bus # (O1x). If you are in Thessaloniki must visit this place.

The very first step when you enter this square tells you that it is worthy of the name it bears, surrounded by buildings that are placed in a specific way. Crowded with people gives this place a special charm and at times you feel like you are going back in time because the structure of people is diverse. Basically don't miss this place when you come to Thessaloniki..

One of the highlights of Aristoteleus Square is its proximity to other significant attractions. The iconic Rotunda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just a short walk away. Additionally, the vibrant Ladadika district, with its charming cobblestone streets and vibrant nightlife, is easily accessible from the square. You'll find yourself immersed in the cultural tapestry of Thessaloniki without venturing too far from Aristoteleus Square … 👌🏻

Came to Grecee from 16 Aug to 28 Aug from Singapore. A party of two people total. We mainly did a self drive with a small car to get around from location to location.
This is like the main square here and you walk all the way up, it looks really nice the first time but it gets pretty normal afterwards. The whole sqare itself gets quite crowded sometimes esp during dinner time.
Its quite an easy street because you can always re-direct yourself once you come across this square. There isnt alot of seating here and I've seen a few public restrooms as well but I cant say if they were clean or not.
The floor is made of marble and is quite smooth and nice

Aristotle Square is one of the most beautiful places in Thessaloniki. Basically, it is a little more reminiscent of Venetian architecture than an authentic Greek style of construction, but regardless, the atmosphere is wonderful. A place with a beautiful view of the sea. Spacious, with wonderful cafes and restaurants, where you can take a break, relax with a glass of excellent cold nes frappe, freddo or Greek coffee, with a view of the sea.

One of the nicest square in Greece! The street is surrounded from hotels and shops and in the front you see the amazing color of the sea! Some days (usually weekends) they do some events there for families and every individual! Plenty of cafes and bars within walking distance to have a drink or a bit. Some nice rooftop bars also with some stunning view! (See photo)! A must place to visit in Thessaloniki! Enjoy and cheers

This is the main square of Thessaloniki. It has restaurants around it and in the other side lots of bakeries. It is close to main street with a lot of shops and in the other side you can find the port. Lots of car parking around (not free).
Access to ski runs in winter, plus hiking & biking trails & a mountain water slide in summer.
summer cable car 8am to 4:30pm, return tickets cost 30 BGN , sunny day great views.

Just like other reviewers, not worth to wait at least 1-2 hrs every morning.
Or taxi 10 leva person and shutter bus 8 leva, very long queue in the morning.
Plus when you up there, there will be queue again at the ski lifts.
What a nightmare. First time and last.

It's a gondola.... We were in Bansko week before Feb half term and after 9am it was mega busy, 30 minutes wait minimum if you don't have the magic queue jump pass.
Runs all day up and down with a mid station stop at Chalin Valog. Takes about 29mins to reach the top.
Tickets bought via crystal Ski so can't comment on the usual cost.
Kev Sutton — Google review
Bansko Gondola is one of the worst mountain lifts I have ever seen and it is not because it’s old. It is massively overcrowded. On a busy day you could wait for 1-2 hours to get up the mountain. So either you have to be very early (before 8am), either after 12pm, or you can chose to pay additional 15 levs for minibus service.
All the rest is pretty good, if there is sufficient amount of snow.
However we have spent great time with family in Bansko.
Karolis Zilius — Google review
Pros:
It is a nice place with great infrastructure.
Cons:
The fake snow unfortunately became ice after 13:00. Ratrack machines did not brake the ice. Unpleasant experience to skiing on the ice.
The gondola lift is the bottleneck unfortunately. The rest of the lifts are fast and there were no queues (except Gondola) 🚠
It makes sense to take a shuttle bus in order to avoid the Gondola.
That's why I give 3 stars. Mainly about the snow quality.
Klearchos Klearchou — Google review
Lines can take up to three hours or longer to take the gondola! There was only one ticket machine working, so I recommend buying your ski pass the day before at the windows, between 4pm and 5:30pm. Another option is to take a taxi up to the lifts instead of taking the gondola, sometimes it is worth it just to skip the gondola line.
daniela vega — Google review
This is more of a review for the gondola and main base area than the whole resort: Undersized, overcrowded, and poorly managed. 1 hour ques for skiing are ridiculous. They need to build a second gondola to reduce crowd size.
Having a season pass with "fast-pass" access through the back is the only saving grace from waiting in the huge line.
Snowmaking is fantastic and the nearby bars are great. Always fun to take the ski road home.
Zach Phelan — Google review
Wonderful view of the mountains. Just the right speed. Windows for clean air. The only downside was the ticket price per adult.

The Gondola takes you up to Bunderishka Polyana advisable to get there at 08.00 or after 10.00 otherwise the cues are long . 30 minute ride with stunning scenery . Ski school , restaurants and the beginning of the Ski run ( Ski Road) 7kms of Blue Run ( I found some of it more of a Red Run in places - however my skiing was abit rusty ! , several nice cafes on the way down . Gloriously Sunny all week .
Gondola closes at 5pm for descents .
Kay Crane — Google review
Have to get there early to avoid standing in queue for over an hour. Resort was okay, but the gondola is a horrible bottleneck in the morning. Don't make the mistake of going during British midterm break, it is the busiest time of the season and the slopes are also very crowded and get covered in ice quickly.
Pihel Saatmann (Pihel S.) — Google review
Good if you have season pass. Without season pass you can stay in a line for hours
Ekaterina Sharapova — Google review
Gondola ride is great for sightseeing. You can get tickets only for the ride if you're not skiing. If you're planning to get coffee or food up there, remember to bring cash with you, as one store we visited didn't accept cards.
Nicolas Sivridis (nyko) — Google review
Unfortnately very crowded when there are hollydays in Romania or Bulgaria. Otherwise is a good and quick way to go on the mountain.

Excellent ski resort.
If the line in the gondola is too long, take a taxi to the top.
10 lev for each person.

Borovets is a town on the northern slopes of Bulgaria’s Rila Mountains. It’s the gateway to numerous ski and snowboard runs on Rila National Park’s craggy Musala Ridge. Cycle routes crisscross the alpine landscape. Footpaths lead through rocky outcrops and valleys to the 7 high-altitude Musala Lakes, including glacial Icy Lake. Just north, kayaks and other leisure boats ply the Iskar Reservoir’s calm waters.

Rila Monastery is a popular cultural site with vibrant frescoes and a museum. The monastery stands out against the green mountains, offering stunning views. While reaching the monastery can be challenging, renting a car for the trip is recommended. Visitors can explore the church adorned with beautiful paintings and also visit the museum, kitchen, guest rooms, ethnographic museum, and tower by purchasing a combo ticket. The complex includes magnificent rooms with wood carving and painted ceilings as well as local clothing exhibits from different regions.
Very beautiful! Totally recommend if you are visiting Sofia and enjoy beautiful architecture and Bulgarian History.

If one visits Sofia for more than 2 days, I would recommend to visit the monastery. We went by renting a car, which is really cheap and worthwhile. Just for the trip up there, the trip is worthwhile. The monastery itself is stunning. The church is jaw dropping. I get "anxious" in a place so filled with "stuff", but it's still interesting to see. We went to the restaurant right outside of the monastery, and had a drink. Definitely worth recommending. The views are amazing and the staff very friendly.

It was a beautiful day to visit the monastery. Amazing architecture and so much history behind. It’s public holiday but not busy in the morning, we arrived at 10am, crowd came around 11:30-12:00. There’s some souvenir stalls/shops around and the monastery is surrounded by amazing scenery and nature, truly relaxing. We also visited a smaller monastery along the river/falls just outside the Rila monastery.

Looking for a great place to visit in Bulgaria?
This ancient monastery is still being used today. It’s a great piece of Bulgarian history hidden in its mountains.
To get there, you’d go by tour or drive. But let me tell you, it’s sooo worth it.
It’s like you were sent back in time. Definitely a must see on your Bulgaria bucket list.
I came here with my best friend and went on a road trip in Bulgaria. So we decided to check this place out.
Be prepared to pay a parking fee. And be sure to bring a bottle water to get some water from the fountains there.
Reminder there is no photos inside the buildings and be mindful of what you wear.
I definitely recommend trying the monastery bread when you get there

The most iconic place to see if you are in Sofia. A little far from the center but the driving and the bus don't cost much. The frescoes are beautiful and the facades are beautifully decorated. Unique architecture between stone and wood decorations. Inside the guard staff is the rudest person seen in all of Bulgaria. You can't have your hands in your pockets :)

A beautiful monastery from the tenth century, UNESCO world heritage site. Everything is big and impressive and colorful, and it's worth coming here even if you're not in the area. The entrance is free, the parking is not free and behind the monastery there is a bakery that sells a classic Bulgarian pastry (Mekitsa) that you need to try while you're here

Super worthy visit, the most beautiful frescos I ever seen. Entrance is for free, you need to dress accurately to enter ( no shorts or showing shoulders ), there are little fountains with drinking water and few toilets. ‼️BRIEFLY 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟I think it has been probably one if not the best building I ever visited.
It has bright colors that against the green of the mountains around allow it to float in the space.
You cannot visit the houses of the monks but you have the option to visit a museum and the church.
The church is kinda dim but it is brightly covered on the outside walls by beautiful paintings.
❗KEEP IN MIND: getting here is not easy. I would recommend getting a car for one day as organized tours are quite expensive.

Beautiful monastery nestled in the woods of Bulgaria.
We arrived from Sofia, with a rental car, it's not too far away: an hour and a half journey, through the beautiful landscapes of Bulgaria.
The monastery is stupendous and has a mystical air, it is still inhabited by monks. Outside the secondary door of the monastery there is a pleasant path that leads to the ancient cemetery where the monks are buried, a quiet place because few people go there. Recommended visit!

A scenic drive from Sofia taking approximately 1.5 hours into the Rila Mountains. Arrive early to avoid the bus loads of tourists!
The church is covered in incredible paintings, many of which have been restored to bring out their bright colours. Keep a look out for the icon to the left as you walk in which includes the relics of many saints.
Having a guide will be advantage to learning the history of the place and seeing the main highlight. There is a fee to enter any of the museums.

Highly recommended. We went via a tour from Sofia and loved our time there. It is now a bit touristy, but truly is a beautiful place with the frescoes and natural scenery. We skipped the museum just given the tour’s timing, but spent time looking more closely at the church and frescoes, went up to the tower (just ok), and ate the infamous meketse pastries with jam and honey (super tasty). Note this is just outdoor seating.
Facility wise there are toilets but note they are squatty potties without paper so bring your own. There is also a bookshop, souvenirs, and not overly busy car park (in March at least).

Visiting Rila Monastery in Bulgaria on a sunny winter day was a captivating experience. The serene atmosphere and stunning architecture left a lasting impression on us. The snow-covered surroundings added a magical touch, making it a truly memorable visit. Highly recommended for those seeking a peaceful and culturally rich excursion.
The St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, one of the most iconic Eastern Orthodox churches in Sofia, is an imposing Neo-Byzantine building with richly decorated copper and gold domes. It's one of the largest cathedrals on the Balkan Peninsula, and a popular place of worship for Bulgarian Christians. The cathedral is also home to an underground museum full of religious artifacts and memorabilia from centuries past.
Stunning cathedral from the inside and outside. It is placed in the middle of the city center that is rich in numerous historic, religious, artistic and cultural sights. This temple is the symbol of Sofia with its spectacular external golden domes. It is a must see place in Sofia and you're gonna enjoy the walking tour around.

Beautiful cathedral that is the absolute highlight of visiting Sofia. Mesmerising and magnificent on the inside and outside. It closes at 7 pm but they don't let anyone in a bit before that so if you are visiting it I would recommend the morning!! The walk from city centre is only 20 minutes and is absolutely worth doing it as there are beautiful buildings and parks to see on the way there!!

Beautiful old Cathedral with intricate carvings and breathtaking details. Huge chandeliers suspend over the place and the alcoves hold a great deal of minute details that you could study for a long time. The only drawback is that you have to pay to take pictures inside and there are staff members policing this constantly which really takes away from the atmosphere inside.

A stunning place to visit. This cathedral is 53 metres high and is the largest in the Balkans. It can hold up to 5000 people inside.
Beware that you cannot take pictures inside - you have two options: to pay 10 lev to take pictures or to confront a man taking care of the cathedral inside and having a great eye for those who try to sneak a photo :)

Its magnificent domes and ornate facade command attention, drawing visitors from far and wide to marvel at its beauty.
Stepping inside, one is immediately struck by the cathedral's grandeur and solemn atmosphere. The interior is adorned with intricate mosaics, stunning frescoes, and impressive iconography, all meticulously crafted to inspire awe and reverence.
Beyond its architectural and artistic significance, the cathedral serves as a spiritual sanctuary, offering moments of reflection and contemplation amidst the bustling cityscape. Whether you're a history enthusiast, an architecture aficionado, or simply seeking solace in a place of worship, a visit to the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is an enriching experience not to be missed in Sofia.

Very beautiful cathedral. One of the most remarkable from the exterior. A genuine marvel. Inside it is dark, I found a priest smoking, he yelled at me about taking a picture. I thought how ironic, if something is to desecrate a house of worship, certainly smoking would be worse than a picture. Inside, it's a bit more open, dark, and depressing. Worth a visit if you're close! Walls are probably stained with smoke.

St. Alexander Nevsky is a beautiful cathedral and a must see while in Sofia! It serves as the cathedral church of the Patriarch of Bulgaria and is one of the 50 largest Christian church buildings, by volume, in the world.
St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia occupies an area of 3,170 square metres (34,100 sq ft) and can hold 5,000 people inside. It is among the 10 largest eastern Orthodox church buildings and is the largest cathedral in the Balkans. It is believed that up until the year 2000 it was the largest finished Orthodox cathedral.
Absolutely stunning 😍

One of the most beautiful cathedral I've ever visited. Being a Muslim I was spell bound.
Pictures and videos are strictly not allowed, though just a part of church is open for visitors. We offered the 10 Lev to take pictures but still the person in charge didn't allow us. When we went last weekend some construction work was going on outside the church.
A nearby metro station is located for easy access.

‼️BRIEFLY 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟This Orthodox church is probably among the most beautiful I ever saw.
❗HOW DOES IS WORK? To get in is free but you have to pay to visit the crypt which acts as museum.

I had the incredible opportunity to visit the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral during my recent trip, and I must say, it left me awe-inspired. The cathedral's architecture is a true masterpiece that beautifully blends history, spirituality, and grandeur.
As I approached the cathedral, its magnificent domes glistened in the sunlight, casting a spellbinding reflection in the nearby pond. The sheer scale of the cathedral is jaw-dropping, and it truly stands as a testament to the dedication and craftsmanship of the artisans who brought this vision to life.
The cathedral's ambiance is peaceful and serene, making it an ideal place for introspection and reflection. I spent a considerable amount of time simply absorbing the beauty of the architecture and the peaceful atmosphere. Whether you're a history enthusiast, an architecture lover, or someone seeking a moment of spiritual solace, the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral offers an experience that is bound to leave a lasting impression.
The cathedral's location is also advantageous, nestled within a charming part of the city with ample opportunities to explore the surrounding area. The guides on site were knowledgeable and enthusiastic, providing valuable insights into the cathedral's history and significance.
Visiting the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was an enriching experience that I will cherish for a lifetime. I highly recommend adding this architectural marvel to your must-visit list when in the area. It's not just a cathedral; it's a living piece of history that exudes an aura of majesty and spirituality.

An iconic landmark for Bulgaria with lots of rich history. The cathedral is really beautiful and looks wonderful from all viewing angles. The entrance to the cathedral is free. This is a must visit attraction while visiting Sofia. Nearby attractions include Russian Orthodox Church which is also very beautiful.

Amazing interior and beautifully lit at night. Definitely a must see during the day and night time especially when it's covered in snow the other day. Shame you would have to pay for taking videos or photos inside.

Prominent cathedral in Sofia that’s often the key landmark in photos. It’s free to enter and a decent look can be done in about 10 minutes (though longer if wanting to absorb all the paintings). There are no signs so if wanting details recommend an online guide, but there are a few benches so able to linger. Donations welcomed.

Very impressive church! I suggest to visit it during Sunday liturgy. The choir that sings there is amazing!

The architecture of this church is just beyond beautiful. The exterior patina against the limestone is gorgeous when lit by the setting sun and the evening lights. The interior is filled with murals on the walls and ceilings along with all the usual decor of a catholic church. It is absolutely beautiful inside and out but if you want to take photos on the inside you must make a donation and you cannot use a flash.

A really really beautiful thing to see, I saw it in the daytime but couldn’t get enough so went back and watched the sunset! Unfortunately there was a lot construction when I went, but if in Sofia, I would definitely go again.

A must visit place. The architecture is gorgeous. Entry is free but you take photos, you have to pay a little. The paintings of the walls and under the roof is interesting. Parking places are available but to pay with a specific app or sending SMS from the local number.

A must-visit in Sofia! This cathedral is a true piece of art that combines history, religion and grandeur into a single entity. It is really gorgeous and looks wonderful from all angles. Moreover, entrance is free!
Within the cathedral, you can experience peace and serenity, making it an perfect opportunity for self-reflection. I spent about an hour in it to take in the magnificence of the architecture and the peaceful environment.
Moreover, the cathedral is located conveniently in the city center. So you can visit other attractions after this just by walking a bit. There are many delicious F&B outlets available should you crave some food after visiting here. There is also a street market nearby which sells different souvenirs, some of which are vintage, at reasonable prices.

Inside the cathedral it is very high with few windows so in the afternoon there is very little light unlike in the morning. Small souvenir shop at the entrance with the possibility of entering the museum From the outside the cathedral is beautiful and worth a visit.

This cathedral has its own unique charm, which is both captivating and majestic.
It is essential to remember that this is a space for prayer and silent contemplation.
To record videos or take pictures you should pay a nominal charge at the entry.
It is without a doubt worthy to pay visit.
Enjoy!

Visiting the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral on a frosty January morning at sunrise was a mesmerizing experience. The cathedral's architectural grandeur combined with the serene atmosphere created a captivating moment. The early light illuminated the intricate details, enhancing the beauty of this historical landmark. Overall, our visit left a lasting impression, and we thoroughly enjoyed the unique charm of the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in the tranquil winter dawn.

Patriarchal cathedral of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in Sofia. The church monument of Saint Alexander Nevsky. It was built in 1908 and dedicated to Saint Alexander Nevsky and the Russian soldiers who died in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 in honor of the liberation from the Turks after which Bulgaria gained statehood from the Ottoman Empire, but not full independence.

Sofia Center, pl. "Sveti Aleksandar Nevski", 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria
Sofia's most fashionable street is crammed with high-end boutiques and fashion houses. The view of snow-dusted Vitosha Mountain is a popular Instagram backdrop, while the cafes and outdoor seating offer an idyllic setting for a break.
The main pedestrian vein of the pumping heart of the Capitol. Great for walking, coffee, short bite, shopping, etc. Almost imposible to find parking but all of the public transportation is near the street.

Views of mountain Vitosha and National palace of culture, Vitoshka is the best Sofia can offer in regards of shops, food and culture. Ideal place to stay in this erea, from here you can reach a lot of places of foot. We managed to see and do a lot

It can get very busy. Walked up and down it once and that was enough for me. The view of Vitosha mountain in the background is something to see but the boulevard for me felt too touristy and commercial. I recommend exploring the side streets off the boulevard to discover hidden gems.

That’s like the most popular street in Beograd and you can feel why. Many shops there from highly luxurious brands to souvenir shops. You can spot many of those little popcorn stands on the street, but I didn’t really like the salty popcorn, I prefer it to be sweet. Also I think the street doesn’t have any charm. It’s full of shops and at night it’s full of people

One of the hot spots in Belgrade, located right next to Republic Square. This whole historical street is full of cafes, restaurants, clothing stores, souvenir stands, and street musicians. You might find some betting stores, casinos, or sex shops inside the alleys (Millennium Shopping Center).
It has the same vibe as Istiqlal Street behind Taksim Square in Istanbul.
However, prices are not cheap, their store pricing is aligned with Dubai prices after converting the currency.
