A beautiful well preserved & restored Greco-Roman theatre. To its rear atop Kursunlu Tepe are some of the best views over the ancient City with remains of an odd looking cistern & a Temple tomb.

Patara is a treasure trove for history buffs. The well-preserved/restored ruins of this once-thriving Lycian city transport you back in time. From the grand amphitheater to the impressive Roman bath complex, every step reveals the architectural prowess of the past. A must-visit destination for an immersive historical experience. We walked straight in, but there's mentions here of paying an entrance fee. Could have spent a whole day, but we were pressed for time as we were passing through by sailboat.
Thijs van beijsterveldt — Google review
A relatively small amphitheater, seating only 6000 spectators in 38 rows of seats. It was first built in the BC era but there were a series of improvements and expansions. During the early eastern Roman. A wall was later built between the seats and the stage to enable gladiator and wild animal fights. The arena is still in a state of disrepair and it is dangerous to try to access the seating area. Most of the area is fenced off but there is an entrance on the left side so you can view the interior.

(Translated by Google) During the excavations, it was determined that the settlement in this region dates back to the 8th century BC. Patara was the capital of the Lycians and was besieged by Alexander the Great. Patara has continued to be an important city throughout history in every era, as it is the only place in the Xanthos Valley that can be opened to the sea. First of all, I wish with all my heart that the people of my country would go and see it and show interest. We live in a very beautiful country.

Yapılan kazılarda bu bölgede yerleşimin MÖ 8. yüzyıla dayandığı belirlenmiş. Patara, Likyalıların başkentiymiş Büyük İskender tarafından kuşatılmış. (Translated by Google) The ancient port city of Patara, which is mentioned in the Bible. I really liked the theater. Maybe he's not the biggest. But it’s probably the best preserved of all. It is clear that a lot of everything is original. Very atmospheric. And a beautiful view from the theater. I recommend visiting. Well restored. The theater was located near the coast. But now the sea has retreated far.

(Translated by Google) We went to Patara with big dreams and the day we went was windy and wavy, but not in a way to fly an umbrella. Despite this, they did not give him an umbrella.
After a while, the waves did nothing but tire us out and unfortunately we couldn't enjoy it at all.
The ancient city part was equally enjoyable. We climbed the stones near the parliament and watched the sunset on the hill. Everyone says to watch it in the sand dunes, but I think it was also very enjoyable to watch the sunset in an ancient city.

Phaselis is an ancient harbor town with Roman-era structures such as shops, theaters, baths, and aqueducts. It sits on the edge of three small bays and has a beautiful beach perfect for picnics (without BBQs). The Hadrian's Gate is currently undergoing renovations, and a new temple has been discovered and is under excavation. The city also features a boardwalk staircase that needs maintenance but offers stunning views. Public restrooms are available for visitors to use.
Beautiful beaches! Great for a picnic during the on or off season. Remember no BBQs allowed. It's a very interesting small Lycian City. The Hadrian's Gate and the main road is a focal point. The Gate is going through renovations and you can see the majority of its pieces lined up by it. A new Temple has been discovered and is being excavated.
The boardwalk staircase needs to be maintained, watch your step.

Amazing place with the ruins and lots of places to have a swim. The ruins are vast and definitely well worth a look. We combined it with some beach time after. The beach has no sunbeds or umbrellas so go prepared. The water was beautiful and clear. Simply a lovely place to go and spend a few hours.
Lesley Huzzey — Google review
An incredible ancient settlement with traces dating back to the Greek, Hellenistic, and Roman periods.
The site is a relatively compact harbor-town, hosting two agorai, two baths, various sacred areas, and a theater.
By far, the most wonderful thing about this ancient site is its two short coastlines on both sides of the cape where the site is located. These coasts are perfectly shallow and ideal for a short resting swim. You can also view the remains of sunken architectural structures.
Don't forget to enjoy the incredible view of Mount Tahtalı.
Good swimming shoes are highly recommended due to the high number of sunken structural stones in the seabed.

Nice historical place with amphitheater on the territory. Very beautiful atmospheric beach with bungalows. We've been there on our Bayram holidays, wish to come here again.

- Nice place
- not much of Ancient ruins, but enough. You will get to see some ancient ruins of monuments and a small amphitheatre. The whole place can be covered in only 30 mins, unless you plan to sit by the beach and spend some time there
Tanmay Upadhyaya — Google review
Nestled between two small bays on the Mediterranean coast, Phaeselis is a delightful spot. It’s really just one ruined street that runs between the two bays, a theater, and an aqueduct. The ruins themselves aren’t much to write home about, but the combination of the ruins, the windswept trees, and the turquoise blue water make this site a great choice for a day trip and maybe a picnic or small beach outing. It was very cold the day I was there, and so there weren’t many people around. I understand, though, that it’s quite popular in warmer seasons.
Handy travel tip: the porta-potties on site are all squat toilets. You might want to visit restroom facilities *before* you get there.
I took a minibus from the Antalya bus station to Kemer and hired a taxi for the final leg. You can get closer than Kemer by bus, if you plan it correctly. (Taxi drivers, by the way, will wait for you while you explore.)
Marie Matthews — Google review
Nice ancient city but not too much to see. It seems like they are renovating it, because there was a construction site a people were working. But it’s a nice landmark, and I’d recommend visiting it.

We enjoyed our visit here, the cost of entry was 55 TL. The ruins there are interesting with opportunities to take amazing photographs. If you are driving by we would recommend stopping as it is a beautiful spot with a nice beach. Or its a 45 minute drive from Antalya

OK, so we visited late afternoon on a Sunday in early March 2023, when the sea was choppy and the wind biting. But it was still very busy, so one can only imagine what it will be like in the height of summer.
The three or so beaches are nice, and the ruins worth a stroll around (the theatre is impressive), but we suspect it will be unbearably busy in the tourist season.
Not many information boards, but they are in German, English, Turkish and Russian. Car parking OK. Wheelchair accessibility very limited. Free with Museum Card; 90 TL per person without. Closed at 1645hrs when we were there.

Lovely place. If u want peace, be there about 9 and get best spot. Otherwise u cant enjoy the day. Even week day was almost busy so recommending to go there any week day.

Beautiful place and so much to see in the ancient city. Take a swim suit and a picnic. Stay all day
Heather Summers — Google review
Beautiful place to visit to see the ruins but also to swim. The ruins here are nice, but not the main attraction. The lagoon and beach area were the main draw for all visitors we saw here. And it is no wonder why. With plenty of space to park, and lay out, as well as amazing water. Would highly recommend for a full day, as opposed to a quick ruins visit like we did.

It's a beautiful place. This place is about 40 minutes from Antalya if you ride on a car. Also, you can get there on the bus from Antalya and nearby towns. Entrance is 220 TRY. On this money you get really amazing views with history, clean coast where you can relax. Water is clean and clear that you can to look at little fish without mask. On the territory has WC, fitting room and shower but this is near parking and far from the beach. Besides swimming in the sea and sunbathing you can visite ancient city and touch in to history so to speak. There are a big territory with ruins, where you can walk and take photos. I liked this place with really amazing views. We were in Saturday but people were a bit. If you have vacation in Antalya or Kemer you need visit this place🤗
Hanna — Google review
Because there were archeological excavations the day that we were there we couldn't get access to all the places. However, the place is beautiful and is just next to a nice beach.

Very cool place, totally recommended to visit. Ruins, sea, forest. Just amazing
Dmitry Erokhin — Google review
The entrance fee is 180 lyras per visitor. And this place is absolutely not worth the visit, especially the paid one. We went there after seeing the ruins of Termessos, Aspendos, Perge, and Side, hoping to see something similar. But we were really disappointed and disgusted by the number of people and the amount of garbage everywhere. Too busy, I mean it's way too busy. And I don't know why. There are not too many ancient sites you can explore there. There are so many better places around the area where you can truly dive into ancient times. We spent 20 minutes there. And the best part of our trip there was to get out of that stuffy place. We went there on Saturday. The beach was overcrowded and dirty.
Do yourself a favor, save your money and time, and avoid the place. Unless you enjoy big crowds and don't mind piles of garbage, you won't like this place.
Russ Tliff — Google review
Absolutely stunning place.
Could be more information available about the history - nothing a quick Google couldn't fix. Would be ideal to have this info available

Stayed here for three nights and had an amazing time! I’m very much a beginner, but during my time there I was able to quickly progress and by the end was able to start landing jumps and going off the obstacles. All the staff were so friendly and I got on great with all the other guests with everyone being super helpful in giving me tips on how to improve. Also all the food they served was delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of checking it out!

This cable park is like paradise to my family. Amazing food, super friendly staff and extremely kids friendly. Great obstacles and perfect conditions for riding. We will definitely come again and again :)

Very unpleasant experience. The most rude service in whole Turkey. We were yelled at why do we come unannounced ( do you call the ski resort before you come?!) and why did we enter the premises ( the gate has a huge sign "push button to enter" ). They said they do not accept strangers. Unfortunately this great place is not something you can just drive by and decide to have a ride :/
I would not recommend giving them your money...
The Apollon Temple is a picturesque waterfront location featuring ancient temple ruins with iconic columns and stone structures. The Roman architecture is stunning, making it a must-visit destination for fans of ancient architecture in the region or elsewhere. The town of Side offers visitors the chance to explore its lovely shops, restaurants, and harbor. This pedestrian-friendly town also features a large free car park 10 minutes away on foot. The Roman ruins are worth visiting both during the day and at night when they're illuminated.
These Roman ruins are great to visit during the day and at night as they are illuminated in the night. Its a lovely town with nice shops, restaurants and a harbour, so nice to walk around. It's great that it is basically a pedestrian town with a large free car park 10 mins walk away.

There are grander sights in the world, but the atmosphere during sunset makes it worthwhile.
The view from the sea is something to behold imagining how ancient mariners would have viewed the old city.
It’s well worth the visit. Don’t bother during the heat of the day. There are better archaeological wonders nearby and many untouched a small drive away, but I’d encourage you to venture to it.

So beautiful! Amazing views, amazing architecture, amazing history. Lots of photo opportunities, lovely views of the sea wonderful eatery options. Kid friendly and best to enjoy this on foot..it is so worth the little walk as you can truly take it all in.

Beautiful historical site with stunning views. It would have been lovely to have some information about the site available for tourists. I would definitely recommend finding out about the temple first. I was disappointed to see that there were tourists climbing on the ruins and this was apparently ok!
There was a nice little rock pool area to explore between the temple and the sea.

Beautiful Roman architecture. Must see if you are a fan of ancient architecture in this region or in total. Side is amazing place, one of my favourite visited so far. After walk and all sight seeing you can chill in nearby cafe or take a boat trip which at the moment some are offered as 2.99€ per person.
Karina Saber — Google review
Impressive and humbling site. One of the best things I have ever seen. The whole Side town is full of ancient Roman ruins, but the temple is right at the edge of the land and offers amazing views.
I suggest visiting the site very early in the morning before the crowd gets in. I took a walk around the town at 6am, and there was barely anyone around.
Aizhamal Nurmamat kyzy — Google review
Historical temple. Nice view as it is near sea. Many coffee shops and other arabic cuisine restaurants. Good shopping market. Needs to negotiate prices very badly.
Rakesh Shah — Google review
stunning ruins and really pretty little shopping plaza. but be prepared for constant offers to buy roles and gucci extra "for very good price"
David Crawford — Google review
Honestly its not much of a temple except a couple of pillars left standing after tidal waves and quakes have levelled most of the erstwhile temple. The pillars themselves are half recreated not original. The place creates one hell of a view near sunset to look upon the history and legacy this place once held. But its a long walk inside and I would not recommend it except during good weather and if you have a lot of time. The rest of the place has a couple of decent beaches for boating and swimming and a long line of shops. Seems like a tourist trap to me.
Mayank Singh — Google review
Beautiful antique city, in Side/Manavgat, very close to a small boat marina and Side downtown city. Nice small shops and restaurants around. Most impressive near evening/night.
Joe Brown — Google review
The whole harbour town is littered with monuments, original features, house, amphitheatre etc. You just walk around to see them. Modern buildings are innkeeping, and many street areas are glass covered to reveal the original features below. Really nice touch. Easily spend half a day wandering round here.

Beautiful! Just stand here peacefully and try to imagine what it was like hundreds of years ago when the ancient Greeks were here, feel and hear those people. Your imagination is unlimited, if you allow it to be

Great piece of ancient architecture framed against the blue Side sky. Only improvement I could suggest is more historical information available at the site to enable aporeciation of its significance.
Pete Flynn — Google review
When we have entered the ruins and the temple we had vibes from Rome. We loved Rome, so we loved the Apollon Temple too. We went there at 16:00 because we wanted to see it in daylight, and we have waited until the sunset and also the night to see the city lights in the evening. There is a small "train" that can take you straight to Side for 1€ but it's better to walk it there. The walk will take 10 minutes at most. If you are visiting cities near Side definitely have to check out the Apollon Temple!

It free so if you are in Side its worth a look, site quite small and is currently under restoration.

A lot of artefacts from the Hellenistic and the Roman periods. Tickets for the amphitheatre and the museum can be bought at the entrance to the amphitheatre. Payment cards accepted. Due to renovation, the entrance to the museum was from the seafront (as in mid May 2023), clear street directions are in place. No waiting in line was necessary when visited in the morning of a weekday. More people in the harbour around lunchtime.

This is a really cool museum with a collection of various relics discovered around Side. One noteworthy thing you will find here are the ancient Luwian scripts which have yet to be fully deciphered. The museum itself is quite beautiful and the exhibits are inside a set of restored old bath houses. If you are in Side this is a must.

Small but very rich Museum! Never miss visiting it while visiting Side. The statues and pieces there complement the ones in Antalya Museum, so you must visit that one too, to get a full understanding of the history of the city.
If you have the museum card, you can enter for free, otherwise you will pay 18 TL.

Museum quite literally built into ancient Roman ruins 🤯🤯🤯
This museum is phenomenal with all of its sculptures, sarcophaguses, and paintings. What's even more impressive is this museum is housed inside of actual ruins! For me this is very unique and I've never seen anything quite like this before. Absolutely adore this idea though! This is recycling done right 🤜💥🤛
A few of the statues in here are more than world-class. You could say these are my favorite not just in Turkey buuuut in any museum I've ever seen anywhere else in the world 💓🗽💓
There are a few museum cats hanging out in the courtyard looking for some kitty love... One cat was on the prowl trying to snag a bird off one of the ancient statues outside. Not something you get to see everyday haha It was an admiral attempt by the kitten buuut a feeble one as the bird was toying with the cat letting him get close and then flying over to the next statue and the next and the next 🐦😼😜😂
Huge thumbs up to this museum 👍

Manavgat offers a variety of activities and tours for travelers to enjoy. One popular option is the Manavgat River Cruise, which takes visitors on a wooden boat trip to view the scenic waterfall. This area is perfect for picnics, swimming, and fishing, and it's also an opportunity to spot local wildlife such as pelicans, egrets, and kingfishers.
I can’t express the beauty of this place in words, but I hope my photos can.

If you want to see a real bazaar or want to go away from the classic tourist destinations, I recommend the farmers' market in Manavgat or in Alanya or Avsallar. You can get to Manavgat or Alanya with the dolmuş for 2.50 euros. The trip is worth it! Here you can also take a look in peace. So far I've discovered ONE shop in Alara Park where I could actually take a look in peace without being constantly annoyed! The people here are really extremely pushy! I don't have to have that again! Especially since you really only get Klim bim, I wouldn't know what to buy here, especially since the prices are significantly more expensive than at the markets mentioned above!

Alara Grand Bazaar, U Blok, 07415 Alanya/Antalya, Türkiye
A vibrant hotel, A Good Life Family Resort Water Planet offers unpretentious lodgings with access to a water park and nightclub. Additionally, there are multiple dining options and bars available on the premises. Despite some negative feedback suggesting subpar maintenance of the water park's slides, after visiting myself I found them acceptable though in need of repainting. The water park's overall upkeep, including gardening and restroom facilities, were better than expected.
Perfect in general.
Very good rooms, delicious food, 5 pools - all good, aquapark is the big plus.
What is not good (as my opinion - did not make any problems): just 1 good barmen in lobby, all bars makes different same cocktails; very small lobby (in evenings had no seats); service is not bad and not good (comsi-comsa).
Recommended for all, who don't care about perfect service and like "eat'n'lay" vacations))

A good hotel with a lovely territory, beautiful sights. Food and service are ok too, maybe those who seek sofisticate meals wouldn’t find them here, but for me food was fine. The main setback for me is quite small rooms without any kind of sound isolation - I could basically hear every word my neighbors were saying in the next room.

It is an excellent hotel I love everything about it specially the people that work there they are so kind and friendly, the daily programs was amazing, I will definitely come back again .

Very positively surprised, I feared the worse with an all-inclusive place. Location is the best in the area with a large pine tree park. You can have a quiet spot, a lively one if you want. Excellent service and very decent food. No beach as such, but it is better to have a whole hill as a playground. Other hotels just have a sand beach and nothing else.
Recommended for both families and couples.

The overall location and aesthetic of the hotel are amazing, except for the constant noise made by the crickets in the trees. It's located on top of a hill, so you can see the Mediterranean and the coastline for miles on end. The food was great, except for the lack of pork, but that is well compensated for with the local dishes and specialties. The staff was always very polite, except for some student workers who were often short and quite impolite. One thing you should consider, as someone who primarily speaks English, is that they don't – and I mean not at all. For example, there is a sign at the beach with the rules on it, and the English instructions did not have a single sentence without a grammatical error. The pools are hot, not refreshing at all; they're almost hotter than outside the pool. I understand it might be difficult to keep them cool, but come on, this is too much. So yeah, A Good Life Utopia Family is a great vacation place for you and the kids.

It's a good hotel, but not perfect, there is variety of food, but the taste is not the best, the waiters and personal staff is really helpful
But the hotel is very boring after pools are shut, no night life or music like other nearby places, only kids show at 9 o'clock, and then go to bed, never go to the spa they care about money only they let kids inside and even into the massage floor they kept playing and screaming so it lost it's aim already, when we complained to the manager he kept joking about it in a silly way

Comparing to the last year it’s not so nice. Only the stuff can make it up to the standard but they are not paid well for what they do they do deserve much more. I was expecting more of the party’s from the hotel… but otherwise the manager change in my opinion wasn’t for best…

The hotel was quite good, also the rooms, the pools and the sorrowndings were nice. But the food was not so tasty and there were flies everywhere in the restaurant (which is not hygienic at all, considering that the food is served at the buffet). The receptionists were quite welcoming and helpful, but barely could understand any English and very often was very difficult to communicate (and some workers, I must say, were a little bit too clingy, people who go there want mainly to relax and not be annoyed). The activities and the shows were nice but the live music was terrible (some singers didn’t even know the words of the songs 😅 and the songs were repetitive). The drinks were good and there was a lot of choice. At the end of the day considering the price the hotel was nice, but I don’t think I would come again since there were many things that I really didn’t like much (in particular the food and the flies near it).

After reading of some negative comments I want to try this waterpark by myself. Ok .. some slides are not 100 percent new and can use a new paint job but generally OK. Also the general condition of the water park like gardening and toilets are not so bad as I read in some comments. The big surprise was the all inclusive buffet good quality of salads and for kids a dream of unlimited chicken nuggets and hamburgers. What could you expect more for this low entrance fee ?

We had an good stay. The food is awesome. Pools are clean and numerous. There’s a cool and fun pool for kiddos, wave pool, water park. The territory around the hotel is picturesque and offers some good views. Might be not the best option if you prefer beach over the pools. There are a few issues of coarse, but it’s a good value for money overall.

We've had a great holiday thanks to Utopia Family Resort. During our stay, they were really friendly and welcomed us well. Their staff are positive and energetic. Especially, Guest Relations, they helped us a lot with our questions and requests.
Our room was fine. We haven't had any problem about it.
They have a variety of restaurants where we could enjoy different dishes. Main courses, appetizers, all were delicious. Plus, we could always have drinks and snacks at different places of the hotel.
The hotel is really big and the view is amazing. We never get bored thanks to the activities, animators, trying different things. And, for nature lovers, the facilities are located among the trees. So, I would highly recommend this hotel.
Thank you for this experience.

And if you need a proper relaxation the adult only access infinity pool on the roof is just the place to be. Okurcalar, Şarburun Caddesi No: 16, 07415 Alanya/Antalya, Türkiye
Oymapinar Dam, a curved reservoir that was previously harnessed for power generation, now offers a variety of boating activities such as canoeing and rowing. The freshwater structure presents an impressive spectacle and provides ample opportunities for aquatic adventure.
Kleopatra Beach is a wide, calm beach with stunning views of the castle and mountains. There are plenty of sun loungers and beach clubs, making it perfect for a day out.
We had an incredible boat tour today that allowed us to explore Alanya's beautiful coastline. 🇹🇷 We left around 10:00 o'clock from Alanya's harbor, and were taken to the sea caves located around the Alanya castle called pirates, lovers, phosphorous, and devils. We also passed by near Cleopatra's beach. The boat made a few stops, where we could swim in the open water. It was my first time to actually swim in open water without a life jacket. I've come far along 🥰 Anyway, this 35€ boat tour for three people also covered our lunch. We were served grilled chicken, sallad, and spaghetti bologneze, which was followed by a freakin' awesome soap dancing party up stairs. We were back to our hotel around 3:30 pm.

Water is supposed to be really clear but it's not. A bit murky/cloudy.
Plenty of seating either for a few quid or free via your hotel. A little bit cramped perhaps but it's a popular beach so it's to be expected.
Considering it's apparently cleaned daily I found the beach quite dirty, both in the early morning and night. The main culprit is tons of cigarette butts. There are plenty of ashtrays available but people are so lazy and dirty they ash them in the sand which is sad to see.
Sand is coarse and not fine. Water gets deep quite quickly but is generally warm at all times in late September.
Toilets, showers, bars and restaurants across all of the beachfront for refreshments and comfort which was nice to have.
Overall I would say it's just an average beach, but that's due to my exposure to some pristine beaches in asia. If you only ever holiday in the Mediterranean then maybe this would be rated higher for you.

It's a beautiful beach with amazing views and very clean. It is not sandy but has fine pebbles which is fun to play in and not as annoying as sand! There are slippery rocks at the entrance to the sea and it is quite deep, with powerful waves so our children could not swim there but loved playing in the surf. We would definitely return here if we holiday in Alanya again.

A beach were you will find a spirit of enjoyment. Simpel, and obvious, as it always excisted, the beach be a pleasant memory for visiters to rember, as once have been here. Nice hotells in the area. And enjoyable sunrises and small events and gatherings on this beach. A place to see hanggliders in the sky, landing on the beach. Out in the water, crosses pirateships as incoming visitors close by. They are staying to let persons bath in the water, close to the beach. Thete is also statues of Cleopatra as monuments. A place to remember as a place to give away as tip to a friend, about where you can spend a well worth vacation.

Very beautiful beach, with many facilities like beach beds, cabanas, bars etc. It’s not sand beach more like tiny rocks. The view is incredibly beautiful there and the water is blue and clear. The only disadvantage is the fact that it’s quickly very deep so you need some kind of equipment if you want to relax in water instead of swimming non stop

The beach, atmosphere and surroundings are so beautiful. In photos beach does not look super nice, just regular. I was not very keen to go there but when I went I was so surprised how beautiful this part of Alanya is. A lot of palms, plants, flowers. Beach and sea are so clean. I loved the type of sand there. In reality looks 100x times better and more beautiful than pictures. Pictures do not portray reality at all.

I'll never travel to Goreme without this trip planner again
The Seljuk-era castle atop Alanya's rocky peninsula is a popular tourist destination with steep streets circling its massive walls. The walls and towers are still visible from the city below, and the castle is awaiting Unesco World Heritage listing. There are 83 towers and 140 towers in the walls, as well as 1,200 original cisterns.
For ease of getting to the castle it is best to take the cable car to near the top. Remember however that when you are off the cable car you are.not near to the main part of the castle and there are still lots of steps to climb higher. There are shops and cafes so in the heat plenty of cool off stops. There are also souvenir shops including market stalls selling cotton and lace goods, like tablecloths. Plenty of information around the castle to explain what is what. Great views from the top of Alanya.

Good castle, in the castle itself information are only in Turkish so I didn't understand maybe make also in English? Also we payed extra entrance for that. Gondola are good it's 200 Lira for up and down unless you have an international student id card I didn't understand

Well-kept castle, with a beautiful view of the sea and Alanya. There are walkways through the castle, making it easy to walk and enjoy the scenery. That being said, this closed off part of the castle is not much different from the open free-entrance parts of the castle, making me miss a bit "more" with regard to the entrance fee, but still worth a visit.

Gorgeous views of Alanya, they bay and port. Definitely worth the visit. Do it on your own terms - most organised excursions allow you only 1 hr to explore and it is far from enough. 2-3 minimum so that you can properly enjoy the experience.

Great views, good experience for people who like history. But much of it is blocked off. There's very limited access to the trail. However, there's a nice restaurant at the top, we didn't have any food, but used their restrooms. Everything was very clean, staff seemed very friendly and accommodating.
I would recommend going up via cable car and walking back down via pathway that they had made. So only but one way ticket for the cable car. Views from the cable cars were amazing too. It's a 6-minute ride each way. There are also few benches where you can take a break and take in the views. Please like my input as I do make a lot of effort to give as much information as possible to help you decide if you're planning on visiting this place. 👍

We took the tram up to the castle and walked around in the morning. The view from the tram was beautiful as you can see cleopatra's beach and the beautiful clear Mediterranean Sea. The walk up is nice the stairs are easy and the view amazing. lots of souvenir shops, restaurants, a mosque as well. There is a cost to visit the inner castle of 30TL the castle sits at the top at and is 250 meters above sea level. There are bathrooms located up there as well. Worth the visit, i recommend taking the tram for the view, the cost was 60 TL return trip
The castle is open every day from 09:00 to 19:30 in the spring and summer, and from 08:30 to 17:00 in the autumn and winter.

Great place for a trip. Very extensive old ruins on top of a hill in Alanya. Standing by the cable car, it seems that it is quite far and high. In fact, the ascent takes about 35 minutes and is not demanding. You can easily go for a walk. At the top there are many walking paths, several restaurants, observation decks, etc... Must see place!

You have a pretty nice view from up there.
In the castle, you can find little shops, a museum, lots of very friendly cats and impressive architecture.
But be aware, in summer the tropical heat on this mountain hits different, so be prepared.

Amazing place to wonder around. There is a flower smell in the air, seaview points, beautiful ancient ruins.
It is pity that the historical information is written mostly in Turkish, not in English.
It is a place not for one time, because of so many paths to walk and objects to explore.

It is nice to see great views. The people that live up there and also in the shops are really nice, not because they want to sell you stuff. It is even cheaper to buy from the stores at the castle. Beautiful views, we went up in the cable car, £7,50 per person if you like exploring old sites. It's definitely worth it. It's quiet a treck up to the castle
When you get off the cable car.. So not for those who would struggle with lots of steps and slopes.
But you can alternatively get a taxi up.

The Damlataş Cave, discovered in 1948, is a popular tourist attraction in Turkey that offers special hours for asthma patients. The cave's high humidity (96%), elevated carbon dioxide and constant temperature of 22C are said to cure respiratory complaints such as asthma. The cave's bizarre concretions are carefully illuminated and make for fascinating viewing.
Inside, beauty - stalactites and stalagmites over 15,000 years old, everything is comfortably illuminated. A bonus to beauty is humidity of about 98%, it's just a steam room. I can’t stand baths / saunas at all, so it was very difficult for me there and after a few minutes I flew out of there to catch my breath in the sea air. But for asthmatics, this is an excellent natural treatment. The temperature inside stays +22 +23°С all year round. The entrance ticket is very cheap.

During our hike day we went to the Castle and then to the Cave. We arrived around 4 pm so there weren't too much tourists. And despite of a small line at cashier, it moved quickly.
The cave itself is quite small. However, the atmosphere is nice and it is worth of visiting. Inside, there are several benches to sit and a small summary of the history of the cave. I recommend to just come here and relax for a while. Enjoy different suroundings and quiet place.
But I advise you to be quiet. And do not touch stalagmites to preserve them as long as possible.
Michaela Filov? — Google review
It's ok. Humidity is like 90% and it's around 22 degrees in there if not more. Maybe it's a great place for people with asthma but entering there being healthy might be a challenge. We went in and out in 5 min. Very small and tight cave, there's one path leading in and out so it might be a bit crowded at some times

Beautiful little gem close to lower cable car station at the start of Cleopatra beach. It has a wow factor from the very entrance, albeit being quite small. Very rich in calcareous formations and nicely illuminated. A few steps to the lower section. Surely worth a quick visit.

The cave is small but incredibly beautiful. It’s like a little gem in Alanya. However it’s very humid and hard to breathe so you can’t spend much time there but the air is supposed to be very healthy. As I read, it’s recommended to stay up to 15 min on your first visit
Ania W — Google review
The entrance fee was 30 turkish lira, around 1.25€.
The pictures i checked earlier led me to believe it would be a bigger and better experience.
What it really is, is a short walk to a terrace/balcony on top of stairs. The cave is nice though, spacious when there's not so many people. The atmosphere and air was clearly different than on the outside. I liked it. It has a special scent. Some people with asthma feel better inside on this specific air.
There was a smaller cave where you can 'crawl' into but not very deep, kind of short one. It is just a couple of minutes and you have seen it all.
Easy way to see natural speleothem/stalactites and stalagmites. They are beautiful to look at and you do get some nice pictures. If you want to explore more you might want to look for a bigger cave and a cave system elsewhere. The access is nice right next to the damlatas beach and there are shops and city center near by.

It's not the largest cave I have been in but beautiful all the same. The cavern is well lit, and there are wooden steps with safety rails that take you down to the lower level. There are benches to sit on at the bottom. It gets quite hot and stuffy. You only need 10-15 minutes to see everything, but there is no time limit. This is reflected in the cheap entry fee. Look out for the cave cat. To find the cave entrance, just walk under the cable car lines and look over to the left. It's next to the souvenir shops. There are no toilets at the cave, but if you look just to the left in the souvenir shops, there are toilets here. On our visit, these were 8tl.

It was a beautiful lil cave near Kleopatra beach! It was very humid inside but I loved seeing this place! It's good for a short activity^^ the entrance fee was like 30 lira but worth it, there is one stair leading down, but if it's busy the stair might be a bit of a challenge but if people pay attention there is no problem:) There was a lot of light too, didn't feel unsafe

Cheap to enter. 30 lira (£1).
Very small cave. Only visit here if you're already around Cleopatra beach or if you have a spare 15 mins on the way to or from the castle/other sites. If you miss this then it's literally not a problem.
We went around 8.30pm and we were 2 of the 6 people there so it was super peaceful and quiet. You can pretty much see the entire cave within 5 or so minutes unless you stay for the apparent asthma healing effect.
It's hot, humid, sticky and smells like feet.
There is lighting and a staircase to the main chamber with a handful of benches at the bottom + an information panel.

The entrance fee is 30 lira and the cave is not that big since in pictures it may appear like that.
You can see the whole thing in 5 mins or so but its worth a visit. The temperature is around 22 degrees and the humidity makes the whole cave perfect for people with asthma which helps with your breathing.
I really enjoyed the trip here and suggest you pay it a visit if you can.

The cave is very small, cramped and feels suffocating. No air to breathe, humid and hot inside. Not that beautiful to observe when you have to gasp for air. The area outside the cave is more beautiful than inside. It only cost 1 EUR and I was in the area so maybe worth the visit. But out of many other attractions in Alanya, this was the least favourite.

This cave is very basic and not a lot to see. But it was very not expensive it cost 30TL per person.

Its a small cave not a big deal but the guys who are operating the place are fair and charge you a few lira only for entering the place. I guess it's suitable for people who haven't really seen caves before.

(Translated by Google) Overall, it's nothing interesting. A normal port with a lighthouse, surrounding infrastructure, shops and restaurants. There's not even much to write about because nothing particularly captivated me. If we are a little higher, there are very nice views, but nothing more. It's a pity I wasn't able to see it in the evening.

Very interesting. Keep in mind that you can only visit 200 meters of the cave. So the whole experience is about 20 min. The cave is the only thing there. So come only if it is not a long detour

Place definitely worth visiting, cave itself (according to guide) very large but served area is only about 100 m deep, but despite that impression is rather original and positive. Entrance fee is 30 tl and plus 50 tl for boat guided excursion.

It was really nice trip. The road to the cave through the village was little bit adventure :-) They allowed to enter the raft also my 1 Year old son. Ticket for car is 30TL and boat 20 TL per person. All lights worked and the guider gave us info. Unfortunately they speak just Turkish but he tried to talk slowly so I could understand. The toilets were very clean. Just the trip was short in comparison with 3 hours driving from Antalya :-(

Cave, which has the largest underwater lake in Turkey and the third largest in the World. It is located at an altitude of 450 metres from the sea, consists of three floors and the length is 5500 metres. The cave is entered by boat over 200 meter long underground lake. In May and June you may reach to the magnificent 44 meter vertical travertine formations. It is worth seeing!
To enter the National Park is 70tl per car
To enter the cave by boat is 50tl per person

Absolutely amazing place and worth visiting. We went from Side taking Éfendi road, which was a mountain road going through absolutely beautiful places. Then we reached Altinbesik Park, you pay 70 lira for entrance and 50 lira per person for a boat tour inside the cave, which is almost for free considering how much any other attraction prices are in the area during the touristic season. The staff is very nice, friendly and hospitable, told us a lot of information about the cave and the area, even where to go for lunch to try local river trout (amazing place too!). The cave which is open for visiting is not huge, but still very beautiful and a great road trip overall, especially when it’s too hot to go to the beach. Definitely a must visit place if you like nature.

My second visit to Altinbesik caves … quite developed since last visit and proper road now made … safety measures now in place and headwear provided to everyone visiting …
Open on weekend and weekdays with multiple boat trips inside the caves at very reasonable charges …
Recommended to everyone for amazing beautiful views inside the caves …

The cave is very nice, but small. You can pay in EUR (2€ per person for a boat).
Joanna Karnat — Google review
Original name of the cave is Altinbesik Cave. Reachable by personal vehicle only. One of the deepest waterway caves of Europe, but you cannot go more than 100 m. inside. A different cave type and one of the coolest of all caves i visited (more than 20). Definitely a must visit location where you can merge it with Ormana Village and Üzümdere National Park which are very close.

Well, as always with Turks, you can't plan anything. Security left its spot at 4, because we came at 4:30 pm and there was no one inside.
I wish they were more responsible, because it seemed like a really nice place to visit.
Considering the fact that you have to drive good 30 minutes to it from the main road it was really frustrating.
Be responsible guys!

Eşrefoğlu Mosque is a 13th-century mosque in Beyşehir, Konya Province, Turkey During the last years of Seljuks of Rum, various governors of Seljuks enjoyed a partial independency. They established their own semi independent principalities named Anatolian Beyliks. Eshrefids (1280-1326) was a small beylik in center west Anatolia. After 1288, Süleyman Bey, the second bey of Eshrefids rebuilt the city of Beyşehir as a capital of his beylik. Although his beylik was relatively an unimportant political power, the city flourished as one of the cultural centers of Seljuk world. In 1296, he commissioned a mosque in Beyşehir, one of the greatest mosques during the Anatolian beylik period. In 1302 he died and buried in a sepulcher next to the mosque.

Sille Subaşı is a Turkish settlement located in close proximity to Konya. The village was home to the Cappadocian Greek dialect before 1922 and its inhabitants were primarily Greeks who had coexisted with the neighboring Turks of Konya for more than eight centuries.
Alaaddin Hill Park is a beautiful and peaceful historical landmark in the heart of Konya City Center. It's popular for picnics, as there are walking paths and benches among gardens and trees. It’s also great for spending quiet time if you like flowers and greenery! If you’re looking for something more exciting to do in Konya, try checking out the Mevlana Museum nearby.
Konya is a flat area , there is Alaadin mosque and tomb on the hill and there is also a martyrdom here . It is more fun to go 500 meters to the Mevlana museum, to visit the bazaar

Very nice hill in the middle of the city. There are mosques and some nice green spaces to hang out and enjoy a very nice city view. The mosque i did not find that special compared to some other ones in the area, from a tourist point of view, but i liked the tower, the chunky one. There is also a police station in the park which is very nice and adds to the safety of the place.

The Mevlana Museum in Konya is a pilgrimage center for Muslims and non-Muslims alike, and features the tomb of Celaleddin Rumi, who gave the world the whirling dervishes. The building's fluted dome of turquoise tiles is one of Turkey's most distinctive sights.
This museum was absolutely breathtaking!! Everything from the many small exhibits showing artifacts of what people wore, used and made to the actual architecture of the inside and outside of the museum itself was delightful to the eyes! A very clean and well taken care of historical site. Recommend everyone to see this beautiful place.

The Mevlana Museum is a great place to stop if you’re in the area. If you practise Islam then it is probably a must; especially for those who study Sufism as this museum houses the orders founder. Much of the building is a kind of mausoleum dedicated to him. There is also a lot of information about Sufism and how it’s practiced. One of the key staples of Sufism was developing excellent calligraphy skills and they hand copied a lot of books. You can see many originals here.
Gurv — Google review
A fascinating place for those interested in Islamic culture. The museum features exhibits in Sufi cells, many cultural artifacts, and, obviously, the tomb of Rumi. This attraction is free and was very crowded when we visited. No special clothing is required, but most people wore respectful garb.
Ian Wilson — Google review
The museum is excellent, but it would significantly benefit from providing guided tours for a more enriching experience. Currently, there are insufficient explanations, signs, and introductions, making it difficult for foreign tourists like myself to fully understand many exhibits. Offering guided tours could greatly enhance visitors' comprehension and enjoyment of the museum.

Museum has a lot of places to visit, you can have audioguide for 60 turkish liras for places numbered from 1 to 59. As we all know Rumi’s one of the greatest wellknown person in the world and his greatness only comes from kindness, smartness, gracefullnes, indulgence and his deep respect for Allah (God). To visit his grave and pray to Allah for his soul and for everyone’s goodness is good task to do.
Also there is a souvenir shop in the garden to buy original gifts.

Place to visit the tomb of Mevlana (Rumi). A truly cultural experience as many people visit here as a pilgrimage. There is also a relic from the prophet Muhammad. Tourists are welcome but please show respect. It is not enforced for women to wear a head covering, but it's better to bring one and wear it at least inside the building with Rumi's tomb.

750 years, an amazing spiritual man graced our world. The presence of Mevlana Celaleddin is still available to those with an open heart.
But... it would be nicer if a strict silence was enforced, no mobiles or chatting.
Anyway, I will continue to visit Mevlana at least once per year, more often if I can.
I usually buy some souvenirs from the museum shop, the somewhat higher prices are worthwhile for the quality of product and knowledgeable information of the staff plus a support to maintain Mevlana's resting place.

The Konya Tropical Butterfly Garden is a stunning attraction that showcases exotic plants and butterflies. The building itself is designed to resemble a butterfly and offers interactive children's programs as well as an insect museum. Visitors can admire the diverse range of butterflies that come in various shapes, sizes, and colors. However, it's important to note that the environment inside the garden is very humid due to its tropical climate, which may be uncomfortable for some visitors.
We really loved this incredible garden and recommend it to any family or colourful butterfly lovers or any traveller who has enough of chilly weather (28 c° inside).
The creatures seem to be treated very well regarding food and environment. Humans and insects feel good together and guards guarantee the good treatment of these protected wildlife treasures.
Congratulations !

The butterflies are so beautiful and come in different shapes, colors, and sizes.

Other than that, its a nice place to spend a few hours with your friends and family.

Very beautiful place to spend time with your family. During my visit there was not much different butterfly species.
Good to know for those who visit this place during cold time, inside is hot (28°C) and 80% humidity, so take off jackets before entering :)

This place is just amazing! The government invested a lot in this project. So many butterflies in the garden from all of the world. The building constructed in the shape of the butterfly too. Personnel was very nice and cooperative. Parking lot is big enough and free of charge. It was very humid inside, so I advise to wear a t-shirt or something light, to be able to remove warm clothes when entered into the building. A little cafe at the end of the tour is very good idea, the prices for coffee and other drinks were fine. You can buy souvenirs and various gifts too. Thus, I recommend to visit this garden, it will be more nice to come with kids of course. There is also a small cinema with funny cartoons about insect’s life. Should be interesting for kids as well. 👍

This place is a gem! At first I was reluctant to go only because in my head I was like “what’s so cool about a butterfly sancutary”, but boy was I wrong.
This place is a habitat that’s perfect for butterflies to thrive and flourish. The environment that they’re raised it humid and warm, but not excessive to the point where it’s not tolerable.
The butterflies themselves are absolutely majestic. They come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. They import the cacoons from many different continents and raise them there. There are plenty of fruits, and greens for them to enjoy. The scenery itself is just beautiful.
If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend this place as not only is it cheap, but it’s well worth the time. You’ll have a wonderful photo shoot session in there.

Amazing idea with amazing architecture!
Inside the sanctuary [butterfly museum] you will find that the environment is controlled. So the temperature stays at 26 degree cel. all the time. Its a wonderful place but don't hurt those beautiful living beings. There's a section for kids to learn about nature. Nature education is very essential for the future generation. Other things you will find out whenever you'll visit there.

One of the points in Konya you should absolutely see. The building was created as a butterflies house so the degree is around 28 but the humidity is high and a little boring and causes sweetness. Complaints: The tour is so short(25 min) and I have doubts that it is worth the charge(60 tl)((I guest helping butterflies keeping alive should be expensive). Another is that I saw generally some kinds of butterflies. Where are the other types?Nevertheless, you should see charming butterflies.
Alperen Akçay — Google review
It is one of the best tourist attractions in Konya. You can watch different species of butterfly 🦋 at different stages.
Big glass and steel dome type structure is built to create tropical climate and suitable environment for butterfly.
Butterfly breeding is also done here. We can watch different stages of butterfly life. There is one section where dead butterflies are preserved to be showcased.
If you have time in Konya and you are not from a area of tropical climate you must visit this place.

Visited the garden with my wife. It was very entertaining, and we enjoyed our visit. The Garden was easy to access, on two levels. Data for butterflies was easy to read, in both Turkish and English. My only comment is the parking; as we mistakenly parked next to the nearby park. After walking around the Butterfly Garden, for about 200 meters, we discovered another car park, with easier access and taxi rank.

When going into the building, the temperature and humidity are quite high due to the living conditions of the butterflies, so be aware of that. When going inside pictures in front of a green screen can be taken which you can buy later with different backgrounds (4 pieces = 100₺). The environment and butterflies were beautiful and definitely an once in a lifetime experience

Çatalhöyük is a significant archaeological site that features the remains of a large neolithic settlement. It dates back to 7,500 BC and is considered one of the oldest human civilizations in the world. The town boasts wall paintings inside houses, giving us a glimpse into ancient life. Located near Konya, visitors can take a short day trip to explore the excavated sites, museum and recreated houses.
Çatalhöyük
was inhabited 9000 years ago by up to 8000 people who lived together in a large town. Çatalhöyük, across its history, witnesses the transition from exclusively hunting and gathering subsistence to increasing skill in plant and animal domestication. We might see Çatalhöyük as a site whose history is about one of man’s most important transformations: from nomad to settler. It is also a site at which we see art, both painting and sculpture, appear to play a newly important role in the lives of settled people. Çatalhöyük had no streets or foot paths; the houses were built right up against each other and the people who lived in them traveled over the town’s rooftops and entered their homes through holes in the roofs, climbing down a ladder. Communal ovens were built above the homes of Çatalhöyük and we can assume group activities were performed in this elevated space as well. In July 2012, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Unless, like me, you're fascinated with this site, you'll probably be a bit disappointed. Most of the best finds are in the Ankara museum, and so you'll just see the excavated mud brick walls and some reconstructions of the houses that made up the settlement. Very cheap entry. No one else there when we visited. Personally, I was happy to have seen a place I've been interested in since I was a teenager, 42 years ago!

Definitely one of the best museums I have visited, definitely very well made and very interactive experience, but since its middle of nowhere, the roads and directions can be little rough, Hope those can be improved, cause its already promoted by government everywhere

We visited this area and it took us about an hour to get through the one covered site, museum, and the recreated houses. We found this site extremally interesting because it dates back 7500 BC to 6400 BC, prospering around 7000 BC. Only one of the excavated sites is open. Will be honest not a lot to see, but it is the experience of being there that makes this place special.

Wow! Such an amazing historical site. So much to learn here. Not a lot of people here when we visited. I imagine because it is off the beaten path. But well worth going our of your way to see. 10,000 people lived in this town 9,000 years ago and so interesting learning how they lived.

In this write-up, I will not talk about the historical aspects of Çatalhöyük. You can read about this on the internet. I will try here to shed light on grey areas that might be important to prospect visitors. I thank my daughter who encouraged me to fly 170 miles and visit this gem.
1. This place is about a 50-minute drive S-E from Konya. The road is paved. Mind the few road humps when you get close to Çatalhöyük. Please use a car having good conditions with a good spare tire. It will be very difficult if you face a car breakdown on this road where traffic is scarce, particularly if you don’t speak Turkish. Have a working GSM phone anyway. Come back before dark. There is no street lighting.
2. You might have read about a museum location and an excavation location. To clarify, note that Çatalhöyük is a single site with a single-entry point. The museum part is a recent new add-on.
3. There are toilets outside, to the right of the main entrance door.
4. You will first enter a perfectly crafted wood-glass structure built to top-notch standards. Front desk personnel will give you a warm greeting. When I went there (Dec. 2023), the entry was free and the visiting hours are 9 AM to 5 PM (entry to the excavation sites is not possible after 04:40 PM) and the place is closed on Mondays. To the right of the front desk is the Souvenirs Shop, and to the left is a corridor leading to the museum. When you’re finished with the museum, you can exit the building at the end of the corridor and walk towards the excavation sites.
5. There are two excavation sites in Çatalhöyük (two ancient colonies on two separate hills, a few 100 meters apart). Only one excavation site was open on my visit day. Excavation works in the second site were still on-going.
6. We were offered a free English-speaking guide to walk us through the museum. I accepted and soon realized that the guide is essential if you want to understand all what’s displayed in the museum. Thank you Miss Büşra for the wealth of information you provided. We had no clue about Çatalhöyük when we arrived but reached a good level of knowledge by the time we finished our museum tour.
7. The contents of the museum are impressive. The hi-tech aspect of information presentation is amazing. The contents must have been put together by a professional firm in this filed. There are 5 rooms to go through (about 1 hour with the guide). When the guide left, we took pictures then exited from the end of the corridor.
8. It is worth noting that many of the actual excavation finds (e.g. skeletons) are not displayed in Çatalhöyük museum. Only replicas are shown there. The actual skeletons are in other museums in Turkey, some in Konya’s Archaeological Museum (I saw them there) and some in Ankara’s museums.
9. Outside you will find toilets, a cafeteria building, and a conference building. The espresso and the hot chocolate we had in the cafeteria were very tasty.
10. Halfway between this area and the excavation site, replica houses identical to those revealed by the excavation are constructed to give the perfect picture to visitors. You can enter and experience the feeling of having lived there 9,000 years ago. Don’t miss entering those rooms and taking plenty of photos.
11. Finally you head towards the excavation site to be amazed by the beauty of this precious find. You are standing in one of a handful of similar sites in the entire world, with this one being the richest in content. It is true that older ones were discovered elsewhere (e.g. Göbeklitepe, 14,000 years old) but these were religious sites, not living communities.
12. You exit by returning back to the entrance point. The items available to buy in the souvenirs shop are unique, of a good quality, and found only there. Don’t miss buying some before you leave.
Conclusion: visiting this place is not to be missed. It is slowly gaining celebrity and will soon become a main touristic destination on a worldwide scale, particularly when the second (richer) excavation site is opened to public. If you find my review useful, please hit USEFUL 😊.

WOW. Simply profound and definitely worth the drive from Konya and the surrounding area! My husband has told me about the history of Catalholyuk for years and it was one of his top "bucket list" places to visit. I honestly thought it would probably be disappointing...but not in the least bit! What we saw completely blew my mind, and I was shocked at the surrounding region. It's in a very fertile agricultural area and the views are beautiful (with mountains in the distance, farms, and a small town nearby).
We also had a chance to meet the Assistant Head Archaeologist and briefly chat with him in the small indoor museum before he had another meeting.
There are two main areas to see after exiting the museum and mock up of an original house. You'll walk up the hill to the original excavation building where you can take pictures. Then, you'll see another walking path/building ahead where archaeologists are currently working. Our guide instructed us not to take photos there as a courtesy - in case the site/discoveries haven't been published yet.
Before leaving, visit the "gift shack" across the street!!! There's a man who will greet you and offer the opportunity to purchase a drink and his book for a few dollars. Trust me, buy it!
My only regret....I didn't take enough pictures! I was too mesmerized by what we saw. 😃

One of the oldest and best preserved Neolithic sites on earth.
If you are in Konya and have any interest in ancient history, it is worth visiting this place. It is some ways outside the city and can be reached for a fairly reasonable price by taxi, but be sure to reach an agreement on the price. The entrance was free into the site. There is a small interpretive centre, and some sample houses that were built by the archaeologists to better understand ancient building and decorating techniques. There are two open areas of excavation, north and south, but currently (October 2022) only the north one is open. But you can walk on walkways above this incredible and mysterious ancient site and wonder about the people who built it and lived here so many years ago. Worth seeing.

Today i went there from Konya. You can take the bus from Karatay bus terminal to Çumra and surprisingly the bus fare is really cheap (26 lira per person). It usually takes 40 minutes to reach Çumra. But after reaching there, all the horrible things has started. First of all there are no public transportation (cheap) system to reach Çatalhöyük. İf you don't have your own transportation, your only option is Taxi and the fare is not cheap! Hahaha. And the taxi fare of round trip is 300-350 lira. Çatalhöyük is a very historical and archeological place. For a historical lover that place is good. There are a model house to experience the old way of living which is really great experience... My overall experience there is not good at all...

What a wonderful museum! We went there just by googling some interesting things to do near Konya. We’re currently traveling around Turkye and this was by far the most beautiful museum we have seen! It’s interactive, very pretty and the staff talks English! At the moment of visiting (half January) visiting was for free because they were still waiting to hear from the ministry of culture and tourism what the entreefee should be. So we were just being very lucky to visit this beautiful ánd very interesting museum now. Go and have a look! You have younger childeren? That’s no problem, it is very colourful and interactive for kids, a few actors playing the people who lived there many years ago to tell stories about live back in the days.

It is difficult not to be amazed by this place at least for the meaning and tremendous contribution to our understanding in Neolithic. It’s been years I wanted to visit this site and I was very happy that I could. Site itself is small and museum also but enough to give you a taste about how this people from 9000 years ago used to live.
To make it complete it’s better to do before or after the Anatolian civilization museum in Ankara. They complete each other. To understand better this period of time witch was, to my understanding, matriarchy civilization, you can see the books of marija Gimbutas.
I am excited for the next years discoveries as they are still excavating lot of things.
Thanks to the team.
Expect a good hour visit if you want to take you time. Minimum 40 min.
Museum is free.

It is the best museum I've visited in Turkey. Ver interactive museum. It is normally hard to go around to a museum in Turkey with kids, but this one was a totally different experience. They loved it and we spent 2 hours in the museum. Also museum cafe offers variety of products. Just souvenir shop needs more products related to the museum.

An incredible site, impressive to see though not much was open when we visited. The excavated areas, small museum, and model homes provide a window into the past which is highly accessible for children and families as well as experts. A new, much larger visitor center will soon be opened- this will make the site even better.

I want to share my wonderful experiences during my visit to the Çatalhöyük Excavation Area Welcome and Introduction Center. This center is a fantastic destination for history and nature enthusiasts.
First and foremost, the cleanliness of the toilets impressed me. The well-maintained and tidy facilities provide a comfortable environment for visitors. The attention to hygiene standards enhances the satisfaction of the visitors.
The wooden architecture of the building is a beautiful reflection of respect for nature. The choice of wooden material demonstrates a commitment to environmental sensitivity and sustainability. This modern wooden structure offers visitors a unique atmosphere to understand and experience the history of Çatalhöyük.
The staff members are extremely friendly and helpful towards the visitors. They patiently answered my questions and made my visit more enjoyable. The hospitality of the staff makes the center a visitor-friendly place.
The cafe is wonderfully integrated into the building and provides quality service. In a serene environment, immersed in history and nature, you can enjoy a delightful snack or beverage. The variety of options they offer and their commitment to quality service make your visit even more special.
The ease of transportation to the excavation area is a significant advantage for those considering a visit. The road signs are clear, and the parking areas are well-organized. This makes it easy to reach these magnificent historical sites comfortably.
In conclusion, the Çatalhöyük Excavation Area Welcome and Introduction Center combines elements such as cleanliness, environmental awareness, hospitality, quality service, and easy accessibility, offering visitors an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend it to everyone!

This incredible site in Turkey dates back to 7,500 BC, making it a true window into the Neolithic period. ️This is where it all began, the very first steps humans took towards urban living...
Çatalhöyük Museum is a masterpiece of what magic interactive museums can do to history! It fuels our imagination and helps us walk through the excavated houses and imagine the daily lives of these ancient people. I'm so happy that there is no entry ticket to visit this museum and site.
Imagine a bustling community of up to 10,000 people living in tightly packed, windowless houses with flat roofs. Instead of streets, they climbed ladders and entered through hatchways in the ceiling! Looking at the oldest existing city map gave me goosebumps!
These early humans were artistic souls, decorating their homes with vibrant murals depicting hunting scenes, animals, and even abstract patterns. They practiced elaborate rituals, burying their dead under the floors of their homes and creating beautiful figurines and jewelry.
Happy to have this bucket list item ticked!

I love to travel and have always been attracted by the local cultures and histories. During a recent trip to Turkey, I had the good fortune to come across the charming Sultanhan Kervansaray, a caravanserai that has been preserved and is situated in the Aksaray Province. I felt obligated to share my experience in this thorough assessment with other tourists and history buffs.
When I first arrived at Sultanhan Kervansaray, the splendour of the building grabbed me. This caravanserai was constructed in the 13th century under the rule of the Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I and served as a significant resting and trade location along the Silk Road. The exquisitely carved entrance portal, which is embellished with delicate geometric and floral motifs, is proof of the Seljuk craftsmen's superior skill.
When I entered the courtyard, I was taken back in time to a time when tired travellers and traders sought sanctuary behind the caravanserai's sturdy walls. Arcades that originally used as stables, storage spaces and sleeping quarters border the large courtyard. The peaceful ambiance is enhanced by a modest mosque that is perched on a platform in the middle of the courtyard.
Exploring the huge covered hall, or iwan, where travellers met to network and conduct business, was one of the pleasures of my trip. The hall has a number of enormous columns and arches that give the room a breath-taking sense of expanse. Further complementing the experience is the hall's almost supernatural feel created by the interaction of light and shadow.
The site was in good shape the entire time I was there, the product of careful restoration efforts. Around the caravanserai, educational plaques offer helpful historical context that enhances visitors' understanding of the value of this old structure.
Sultanhan Kervansaray, in addition to its historical appeal, provides contemporary conveniences including a small museum, a nice café, and clean facilities. My questions were gladly answered, and the helpful staff was pleased to share intriguing anecdotes about the history of the caravanserai.
To sum up, Sultanhan Kervansaray is a must-visit location for everyone interested in learning more about Turkey's extensive history and soaking up the atmosphere of the old Silk Road. An extraordinary experience may be had at this caravanserai thanks to its outstanding architecture, well-preserved ruins, and historical ambience. I wholeheartedly advise making time to thoroughly explore this hidden gem, take in its ambience, and make lifelong memories.

This was one of the highlights of the green tour. These breathtaking rocks carved out by humans centuries ago were used as monasteries, then hotel for travellers and then as food storage and castles due to strategic importance. It’s a huge complex and you probably need a few hours to explore them properly. They seem like the overground version of the underground city. This structure is now named after one of the daughters of the Sultans. Truly amazing and highly recommended!

Our visit to Selime Cathedral as part of the Green Tour left us absolutely impressed, and it unquestionably stood out as one of the tour's highlights. This remarkable site, carved into the towering rock formations of Cappadocia, is a testament to human ingenuity and historical significance.
As we explored the intricately carved chambers and marveled at the ancient frescoes, it was impossible not to be awed by the sheer magnitude of this cathedral. The scale and detail of the rock-cut architecture are a true testament to the craftsmanship of the past.
What truly made the experience memorable was the profound sense of history and spirituality that permeated the site. Standing within those ancient walls, we could feel the weight of centuries of human history. It was a moment of awe and reflection that made the visit to Selime Cathedral a truly unforgettable experience.

A lot quieter than Göreme Open Air Museum, but just as interesting. Rather than being herded in and out of the caves, you actually have time to really explore and appreciate what you are seeing. You’re also allowed to take pictures!
I would recommend that you wear sturdy footwear with a good grip, as most of the pathways aren’t level. But it’s definitely worth the (sometimes unsteady) climb there and back.

One of the easiest travel-inside underground cities of the surroundings. Wish I had enough time to go deeper but I was with a group of tourists so I only went through on the very top floor inside. But don't expect a deeper, bigger or more mesmerising underground city than Derinkuyu.

The Derinkuyu Underground City is an impressive Byzantine-era subterranean complex located in Turkey. It comprises eight levels of tunnels and rooms, many of which are accessible to the public. To fully comprehend the significance of these spaces, it is advisable to hire a private guide who can provide explanations about each room. The city is definitely worth a visit as it gives visitors an incredible insight into ancient architecture and engineering design.
As a person who loves exploring and delving into history, I really recommend to visit the place. You will not just know the history of Turkey but also a part of our world history.
You cannot help but be amazed by the architectural wonder and your imagination will go wild on how the people during those times were able to do their activities of daily living. You will see beauty in the complexity of the place.

What an interesting place! Really mind blowing to take in that people used to live like this, with animals etc. Also fighting for their lives at times too.
We studied many areas and visited numerous underground cities, all very fascinating. Although very cool inside the air gets very thick and less the further down you go be warned. Either go first in morning or last before closing.
On entry too many locals trying to sell their goods, some are very pushy and pester too much.
Beautiful handmade items but once interest is shown you will be hounded.
Really nice after being down into the underground city to come out and have a local çay, chat with a local especially the elders as they tell many stories! Also great way to learn more and catch your breath too.
Could do with clean and tidy up locally, more waste bins needed.

This is such an astonishing underground city that have been in existence since many many centuries ago. During that time, people lived underground to avoid oppression, they were able to create quarters for families to sleep, cooking area, storage area, winery, and even a meeting place for the people to gather and have discussions. The underground city were in many levels. One could get lost in the maze of the underground city if not familiar with it. Truly an amazing site and very educational for us.

What a fantastic place! I highly recommend getting there early before the coach trips, as you'll have the place to yourself. 20m in from the entrance are 'private' guides, who can take you round and explain the different rooms. This is a must to fully understanding what you are looking at. Guide cost us 100TL for 4 adults and 2 children (though I assume this price changes depending on the day). You will not regret visiting any of the underground cities, they are incredible.

My visit to Derinkuyu Underground City left me fascinated by its historical significance, but there were a few considerations to keep in mind. Here's my review, taking into account the following pointers:
Visit on a Weekday: To make the most of your experience and avoid overcrowding and long queues, I highly recommend visiting Derinkuyu Underground City on a weekday. This will allow you to explore the site more comfortably and immerse yourself in its unique atmosphere without feeling rushed.
Opt for a Guided Tour: To truly understand the significance and history of this remarkable underground city, I suggest joining a guided tour or a Green Valley tour. The knowledgeable guides provide valuable insights into the ancient civilization that inhabited these underground chambers, enhancing your appreciation for the architectural marvels and the cultural heritage preserved within.
Carry Sufficient Water: It's important to note that there are no water sources within the underground city. This is a very good tourist attraction place to visit in cappadocia. With the heat we had to wait for the ticket as soon as we entered the cave it was very chilly cold but I liked it after the heat there was outside. These videos were for my vlog but I had no time to edit. We went really deep with some vent areas where natural cool air was entering. Overall very good experience I recommend going there. Just don't buy those creepy dolls from the women sitting outside

I recently visited Derinkuyu Underground City as part of the Green Tour, and it was an incredible experience. One of the perks of this tour is that the tickets were already included, saving us the hassle of waiting in line. However, I must emphasize that if you are claustrophobic, this may not be the ideal attraction for you. Some of the tunnels are extremely narrow, and it can be quite confining.
During our visit, it did get a bit crowded at times, but the guides did an excellent job of keeping everything under control. Their expertise and knowledge about the history of the underground city added depth to the experience. Exploring the underground chambers, living quarters, and hidden passages was like stepping back in time. Overall, it's a fascinating historical site, but be prepared for tight spaces if you decide to explore it.

The biggest underground city in the world! It is huge and nothing for claustrophobic people. According to a Netflix documentary, it was used to get through the ice age, and knowing that it was an amazing experience to walk through this unbelievable place.

Entry fee is 300 Tl per person. Interesting place, except that there is barely any information inside and without a guide one do not know what the different areas were used for.

Absolutely amazing experience. You would not need to bend down a lot to go through the caves. Caves are well lit and easy to walk through. Not recommended if you are claustrophobic, have heart problems or high blood pressure.

This is one of the best places I have ever visited. This structure is prehistoric and is a result of man’s ingenuity. The city was built underground to protect the people from invaders. It’s underground structure and the maze like caves are simply stunning. It can be a bit claustrophobic in certain sections. It can extremely difficult for people with restricted mobility. We did it as a part of green tour. Highly recommended on your visit to Cappadocia!

One of the most unique, probably prehistoric, iconic and jaw dropping place on the face of earth. This was a marvel of man made structures since before the tools existed. Derinkuyu underground city is an eight level underground city which was capable to house thousands of people and animals, used to be home to humans during various time points in history. The mechanisms of keeping the kettle, providing food and preparing wine, supplying oxygen to the people that underneath take intelligence that came from a species that we proudly call our ancestors. MARVELOUS!!
It was a part of our green tour and this part is not recommended for people who have asthma or back problems.

A few minutes from Goreme... I went to visit this place on a tour called "Green tour" but you can perfectly go in your car and buy tickets when you arrive (there was no line at all when I went) the place in general consists basically in an "underground city" caves, passages and canals that served as a home for this population many years ago, the story is beautiful, the explanation of each room too... but keep in mind that there is nothing written, no posters with information, no signs, if you don't go on a guided tour it will literally be going down, exploring and going up... don't go if you are claustrophobic and take it easy climbing the steps back

Highly recommend. 300 lira entry. Easy to walk around and explore, no guide needed.
You need to visit to understand the scale and history of this place.

It was really interesting to explore the underground city. Unfortunately, no guide was available on the day of our visit. We visited in January. Even the ticket gentleman could not find us a guide. Unlike the Kaymakli Underground City, where they had hired guides waiting for us at the entrance. Many rooms looked similar to us without a guide.

Claimed to be the largest underground man made caves in the world. Only a small portion of the caves are open to visitors. Recommended to get a guide else all “rooms” look the same. Some corridors are very low and narrow. The time you spent there will be less than the time it takes to travel there might. An interesting place to visits if you don’t mind the travel. No public transportation to this place.

Fascinating site to visit. This is an ancient multi-level underground city that goes 85 metres below ground near the modern town of Derinkuyu in Nevşehir Province. It is the largest excavated underground city in Turkey and can accommodate 20,000 people together with their livestock and food stores.

The ancient city of Elengubu, known today as Derinkuyu, burrows more than 85m below the Earth's surface, encompassing 18 levels of tunnels. The largest excavated underground city in the world, it was in near-constant use for thousands of years! Incredible experience! Don’t miss this place when you come to Türkiye. Please do not go in if you are claustrophobic, too tall or too large. It is also not suitable for babies or the elderly. Be prepared go down that some spaces require almost crouching to navigate.

Not for the faint hearted, or asthmatics, it's a way down and what goes down, must come up! Very scrunched in some places, and I'm hobbit like myself! Was it good? İt was fascinating, so cool to think people lived in there 😱 absolutely loved the experience

Must visit place if you’re going to Kapadokya! This is so interesting with the history about the underground city. We can see each part of it, below ground. It’s kinda short for each part, so need to carefully watch our head during walking the tunnels.
It’s a beautiful place to enjoy the history of this city.

The Haji Bektash Veli Complex is a cultural center and pilgrimage site for Alevi Muslims. It houses the tomb of Pir Sultan Haci Bektas Veli, a medieval saint, and features cultural exhibits and gardens. The museum structure in the courtyard is noteworthy, with an interesting dome-topped tomb. Visitors can drink holy water from the Lions fountain at the entrance.
This is one of the place you can feel safe. Only religion in the world women and man equal.
Everyone need to read and understand the philosophy behind it.
So much common attitudes with japan's, but how is that possible?

Haji Bektash Veli (Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli) (1209 – 1271) was a saint, and philosopher from Khorasan who lived and taught in Anatolia. Not much is known about his origins, but he is revered among Alevis for an Islamic understanding that is esoteric, rational and humanistic. Hacıbektaş Külliyesi (the complex) was built in 13th century as a teqe (dergâh) of the Sufi saint Haji Bektash Veli. His mausoleum is also located in this complex.

Very spiritual and beautiful place. You won’t find any tourists here at all. A very small „city“, very local and nice, helpful people. Haci Bektas was one of the biggest preachers of the alevism. The overwhelming feeling you get here is incredible.

Very interesting, peregrination place. You need a guide to explain it to you otherwise you wouldn't understand the significance it has on its followers.
