(Translated by Google) The Andoma geological section is one of the unique places in the Vytegorsk land. A small section of the coast, only three kilometers long, is a landscape, mineralogical and paleontological reserve.
Andoma-gora is famous as the most powerful and beautiful place on the coast of Lake Onega, special and even "witchy". A steep bank, overgrown in places with spruce forest and alder, a stunning view of the endless expanses of Lake Onega, the mouth of the Andoma River and taiga forests to the very horizon. There is shungite and crystalline quartz, the shells of the inhabitants of the ancient seas - fish and mollusks, and fossilized ferns, which are about 400 million years old.
The oldest deposits of the Devonian and Cambrian periods formed bizarre stripes of various shades on the steep banks - light gray and blue, yellow, red and even dark purple. The glacier turned these layers into bizarrely abstract paintings. On the multi-colored clay slopes of Andoma Mountain, one can read the history of the planet 350-400 million years ago.

Kizhi Museum is an open-air complex in Russia that showcases a wooden church dating back to 1714 and cultural exhibits from various time periods. It features numerous log buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries, some of which are furnished in period style. The highlight of the museum is the Transfiguration Church with its impressive 30 miniature domes. However, visitors should note that renovation works are currently ongoing and may impact the view.
Wonderful, ornate wooden churches from 18th century and secular structures that may date back to 16th. We had a personable, knowledgeable guide. Island well maintained and easy to navigate.

Great place to visit but not very on hot day as there are almost no trees, no shadow. Repellent is a must! Rent a bike to explore the northern part of the island. Visit gift shop, it's cheaper then most of other shops in petrozavodsk.
Natalya Kan — Google review
It was the best part of our trip to Russia. You'd spend 50$ just to get to the island and see the open air museum but I believe it is worth it. We even changed our schedule to stay one more day in Petrozavodsk as on the day we planned, tickets for the hydrofoil was finished and there was no other way so I suggest booking in advance if possible. In the short time allowed to be on the island we got the chance to fully visit all parts, taking the route clockwise and then even reach some villages out of the touristic area.
Shaghayegh Najafi Koupaiee — Google review
Step back to a time when everything was built with wood. I learned so much from our guid and the costumed artisans. Know I know that the wooden domes that look silver are actually aspen.

Worth place to visit. You can buy tickets to the island easily at the port of Petrozavodsk. The total time on the island is 4 hours what is enough. Entrance fee costs 500 ruble. They show you the life of people living in the houses.

Open-air museum on an island featuring a church & historical wooden buildings from around Karelia.
This open air museum is really great and well organized. You arrive here by ship and then you stay there for 4 hours before return. The 1st 2 hours you have a guide, also in english, the other 2 hours you are free to do whatever you want. There is also a restaurant there and souvenir shops. The main church is still closed for reconstruction.

I was searching for a spot in the St. petersburg area online and decided to look for Kizhi, just out of curiosity --- I visited this place back in 1973...
Yes, that's 47 years ago!! I was in high school at the time, and taking part in a Russian language study summer trip! This was one of several excursions while I was staying in Leningrad (St. Petersburg!) Back in the cold war era..!!! Anyway, seeing all the online photos now sure brought back some memories! I remember seeing those wooden churches with such amazing detail, and wondering how and why they were built. Going by the recent photos, it looks like this place has been well maintained, which is good.
If you find yourself in the area for any reason, this is a worthwhile side trip.
Harold Chase — Google review
Wooden architecture can be found throughout Russia, but Kizhi Island boasts some of the nation's most famous, and most intricate, examples. These structures on Kizhi Island date from various centuries (the oldest from the 14th century), Blessed with one of the most picturesque ensembles of Russian wooden churches, the Lake Onega island Kizhi provides the most scenic destination on Russia’s greatest waterway, the Volga.

I don't know if I believe everything I am told about this place (Built by one man who threw his axe in the lake upon completion) but it is something special to see. Love outdoor museums and this one is great.
Mike Allen — Google review
Famous Kizhi - the legend says these churches and other buildings were built without any nail. Truth it or not, doesn't matter as Kizhi quite popular among tourists either Russian or International (On the day we were visiting Kizhi, huge ship had arrived with dozens of tourists mostly Americans and German). Kizhi is a magic place, quiet and like no other. The way people used to live here was recreated - students and volunteers dressed in relevant clothes will tell you some stories about how Kizhi was established, what people ate and how they survived long and cold winters. Beatiful choir consisting of 4 or 5 singers will bring you some sense of this place

The only thing that confused me was that the local caretaker doesn’t answer questions very confidently, you get the feeling that she doesn’t know what to say, or she just doesn’t care... so it’s better to take a tour.

(Translated by Google) The Intercession Monastery of Tervenichesky is the youngest in the entire St. Petersburg diocese. The monastery was founded in the place where there was once a large churchyard with a temple, where residents of all the surrounding villages flocked to services. With the seizure of power by the Bolsheviks, the temple was closed, and in the early 90s it was restored by the forces of the sisterhood. Today the monastery is a real spiritual and cultural center of the region.
The first mentions of the Tervenichesky pogost date back to 1137 in the Charter of the Novgorod prince Svyatoslav Olgovich.

We have body 2 caught on a hill opposite the cafe. The cafe prices are slightly above average. The most expensive bun is 70 rubles. Kulich 300, there is tea, coffee. When we ordered borscht, vinaigrette, meatballs, there is a toilet. Emotions are only positive, the road from the lodey field is excellent, only a small section of about 1.5 km is dirt road.

The place is very beautiful and very bright. All those who go to the monastery of Alexander Svirsky, according to legend, must first stop by here, to the monastery where his parents Sergei and Varvara are buried. Such a house to live. No pomp, no malice. God's Grace is here, honestly. It is beyond words, you need to feel it. There is a bathhouse on the Rodon spring, but you do not bathe, you pour yourself in the shower ... mineral water, which is very pleasant to the taste, is very similar to Essentuki 17. The holy fathers say that it is stored for a long time.

Clean beach, good restaurant (a little overpriced if you ask me), need to be a little careful with water as there are a lot of big stones underwater.

The World War II monument on the shores of Lake Radka. The unknown martyr fires the soldiers and civilians who died in the Soviet-German war. The overall design of the monument is simple and the scale is not large. Although it is remote, there are still many people who come to worship and remember the martyrs.

Everyone visiting St Petersburg should go to Lake Ladoga along the green belt of glory. I booked via Marina Wilson tours at Christmas. It's extremely bleak on the lake and gives a small sense of how difficult the conditions were. The museum next to the monument is impressive, as is the diorama museum on the way back to St Petersburg

Visitors can explore this island fort built in 1323 on Lake Ladoga, accessible by ferry service.
This castle is super interesting, but unless you go there by a ferry, it is impossible to see it from anywhere else on land. So glad we have a drone for such issues. It was interesting to observe the island from above, and the view was really breathtaking.

Oreshek is a fortress founded by Novgorod at the source of the Neva, and most famous as a prison that housed political dissidents in the late czarist era. From Petersburg you can reach it by train to Petrokrepost, or by bus to Schlisselburg. Train is faster, but the Schlisselburg side is more exciting.
You need to take a ferry to the island, where you can explore the island individually, with an audio guide, or a tour. Much of it is in ruins, but a few buildings have been restored. There is a cafe and a toilet on the premises. Two to three hours should be plenty to see all there is to see.
The nature is particularly stunning here, so consider making some time to hire a boat, go for a swim, or just walk the coast.

The fortress is quite nice and will have more renovation in the future. The rest of the town has lost a lot during the WWII.

I would recommend visiting Oreshek if you're nearby.
It is located on an island on Lake Ladoga. You can reach the island by boat in just about a few minutes + waiting time for departure. Tickets for boat are sold separately from fortress entrance tickets, which is a museum today.

Super fortress worthing a visit. Nice reconstruction and some explanations in English. Better a guide if you don't know Russian for further knowledge.
A little preparation for a small picnic at the lake shore of the island is to recommend.
Easy to spend 2-4 hours.
For kids would be a fantastic visit.
250rub the ferry (every 30minutes) and the entrance 200rub.
The fortress was the key to reach S.Peterburg and it was also used as prison for Dekabrists (s.XIX) and anarchist (end of XIX and beginning of XX). Then it was a bastion to leave open the access of Leningrad to the rest of Russia against the nazi troops storming the city.

(Translated by Google) I love cats very much. I’ve been to the Republic of Cats on the street several times. Yakubovich in St. Petersburg, which is a branch of the Cat Museum in Vsevolzhsk. And so I decided to visit this Museum itself. The bus ride is about an hour one way if there are no traffic jams. The museum shares a small two-story house with a veterinary clinic. There are only nine cats. The exhibits of the museum are all kinds of cat figurines, household items with cat images, etc. The oak tree near Lukomorye is very nice, around which several toy cats and a live cat population walk in a chain. There is a model of a room with a mirrored ceiling, in which mischievous cats were in charge, there is such a funny mess there. But the general impression is that this Museum is a branch of the Republic of Cats, and not vice versa. It seemed to me that there are not many visitors here. They probably saw everything a long time ago, but it’s a very long way to go from St. Petersburg. Therefore, the Museum probably doesn’t have much money, the courtyard area is unkempt, and the house is old. This is probably why there are few cats living in the Museum. Try to feed them and provide them with daily needs if your income is modest. For some reason I feel sorry for everyone - both the cats and the employees. When visiting branches in St. Petersburg, I never had such a feeling. Come and support a good cause!
