Museums
Suwa Garasu-no-Sato (Glass Museum) is a contemporary exhibit of exceptional glass artistry, situated on the banks of Lake Suwa. The museum offers a cafe, workshops, and local gifts for sale. Visitors can enjoy an exhibition of hanabi paintings in light of COVID-related cancellations. The artists' creativity with glass is truly inspiring. While entrance fees vary depending on group size, the small space offers an extensive selection of souvenirs at the gift shop below.
This site has some amazing glass and painting art. Super good for buying some presents for people back home. Great building too
kristjan sorensen — Google review
The museum itself is small, just one room for the big pieces, but many are remarkable. They have what they proclaim is the world's biggest crystal ball and it looks likely true. Beautiful glass sphere. Other small pieces are around hallways etc. The gift shop is big with glass items and some food, and several craft rooms come off it. We made a candle, where you use coloured sand and little pretty glass ornaments to make a scene in a glass jar, and wait for one hour for them to pour very clear wax into it. It is not cheap, every little ornament is 440yen, plus the cost of the jar etc. is 2500 to 3500 yen. My daughter also made a glass stamp that she drew and they used a machine to sand blast away what she didn't draw. Pretty cool. Also an ice cream stand is there, nice maple caramel ice cream. And a bakery/restaurant we didn't try.
Chris Severn — Google review
Wide range of glass products in the shop. I spent 30 min and visit carefully and at the end, bought 2 glass cups and ear rings as souvenir there. Would recommend if one likes to buy some quality glass stuff and doesn't care price too much.

Lovely glass museum on the shores of lake suwa with a restaurant and gift shop. No English signs, had to translate with my phone. Spent about 30 minutes and enjoyed the hanabi painting exhibition as the shows have all been cancelled due to COVID. We enjoyed seeing how creative the artists can be with glass

I especially liked the work by Laurencin that was displayed in the Japanese-style room on the first floor.
