Wat Khao Takiap

Mentioned on
Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
The Wat Khao Takiab Buddhist Temple sits atop a hill in Hua Hin that offers stunning views of the Thai coastline. The temple is home to an extensive stairway leading up to a beautiful shrine, making it an easy destination for tourists.
its a nice temple. its been a bit run down however the site is still very interesting as you have some of the best sea views from the temple. there are many animals (dogs, monkeys, chickens) however be very aware to not bring ANY food out as the monkeys do tend to chase you down for any food. this especially includes not letting your children hold any food as the monkeys will steal it from them.
Jumie Jackson — Google review
This is a smaller temple. It has been set-up as a little souvenir market and has a variety of tourist shops. The temple itself is not so spectacular but the views are very nice. Many of the items I looked at were expensive compared to other temples in the area.
Curtis Roberts — Google review
The gathering spot of the monkey community in the area. Beautiful view up the stairs to the top temple building where the multiple bells are located. The road is very steep and the stairs are also very steep and slightly tilted. Nice little viewing spot of the area.
Pavinee Gaffney — Google review
Wonderful location right by the sea and if you climb the steps to the Temple building you get great views of Hua Hin. Beware of the thieving macaques, they're everywhere, particularly along the road down to the shrine on the seafront. But these monkeys seem to have a peaceful coexistence with the stray dogs here which are not aggressive. Some stalls in front of the steps upto the Temple where you can buy a few things.
Miles Macdonald — Google review
This is my second visit to this place, and it has changed since my last visit 7 years ago. It seems to be more clean and not so many monkeys, as I can remember. There are some small souvenir shops and a long stairway leading up to the temple, which I did not take. Well, it's worth a visit if you like monkeys, but be careful they are quick to grab your food.
Tally Paulsen — Google review
It's a bit run down but it has a certain charm, and we really enjoyed this unique place. There are monkeys everywhere and they are not scary or aggressive at all. There is a great souvenir shop with lots of really well priced souvenirs. We are really glad we came here, it was a lot of fun and the kids really enjoyed it too.

(Translated by Google) If you are in Hua Hin, the 'Monkey Mountain' is definitely one of the excursion destinations. It's easy to hike along the beach here, but you'll need to be fairly fit to climb the steep mountain. It is better to take a scooter or taxi. On the way you will meet many of the countless monkeys that have taken over this mountain for themselves. That's how it looks there, everything is barred and secured, otherwise it will be stolen. So hold on to your cell phones, caps and sunglasses. The storage compartments of the scooters are also not safe, as the monkeys have learned over time where the good things are stored. There are a few souvenir shops in the park area. If you climb the approximately 200 steep steps, you come to the actual temple, from which you have a great overview of the bay.

Visited April 2022 Pros - nice views, souvenir shops at the base which could be nice for tourists, pretty architecture and sculptures, lots of monkeys - also ponies, pigs, chickens, roosters, dogs, and cats Cons - the main reason I'm giving 2/5 stars is the amount of trash. I was really shocked to see piles of garbage in between the temples. I expected the area to be better taken care of. Very disappointed and saddened.
M D — Google review
Nice temple area hidden up the road. It has a beautiful overlooking view of the beaches and water below. Many dogs?and monkeys in the area. Good place to go for a walk and see the surrounding area.
Patrick — Google review
Peaceful and quiet place. Out of the season, there are no tourists around. You can walk around the whole lake.
Haecki Walter — Google review
Small temple perched on the hill in Takieb. As with a good majority of the temples in Hua Hin, it has magnificent ocean views north to the city. The monkeys are always a problem. Be vigilant, nearly lost my mobile to one and they are not friendly.
S KJB — Google review
Lovely temple to visit. Not much to say here but I wish it was maintained better. Other than that some beautiful views of the city and beautiful temple and statues. And there is a little shop there for souvenirs which had lots of nice item which were moderately priced. Overall nice and experience and I do recommend going if you are in Hua Hin.

Went for a drive out here to have a look, turns out we came here about 6 years ago.lots of monkeys, don't feed them.o remember last time they sold food for people to feed them ,and I saw one person get mobbed. I think they have got wise to that .some really good views of the ocean and local coast plus all the statues.

(Translated by Google) The view is magnificent but everything else is rubbish. The Buddha sits behind rusty fence wire, the buildings are dirty and dilapidated. The only funny thing is the numerous monkeys that guard the temple. It's a good thing I found the scooter up the steep path past the fishing harbor and didn't go on foot. It wouldn't have been worth the effort just for the temple.

Sad to see this formerly amazing property without a patron to bring it back to what it could and should be! That said, stunning Impressive And the view is undeniably majestic The monkeys are a fun element
Jonathan Weaver — Google review
A little out of the way but worth the journey. Beautiful temple overlooking ocean. Lots of monkeys and dogs around but no bother. Stop for a coffee outside the red 'Lucky Door' gate and check out the beautiful sea shells
Derrick — Google review
Amazing Temple. Do be careful of the monkeys as they are wild animals. Very peaceful and serene place.
Pournamy — Google review
Went early to see the sunrise at 6.45am up at the temple on foot. Walked around only to find aggressive dogs and gangs of monkeys. We tried to go further, but there were several dogs who nudged us. They started to growl and get aggressive when we tried to shoo them away. Didn't feel safe at all, so we left. The buildings were run down, and there wasn't much to see except for a magnificent beach view. There were a lot of monkeys too, but they didn't seem too bad compared to the dogs. Hungry animals and neglected infrastructure. Shame.
Fynn — Google review
The Wat is small and isolated and amazing and spread out so you have to walk to enjoy all of it.
Jim Nichols — Google review
It's best to take a tuk tuk or taxi, otherwise the monkeys will tear everything apart. Don't eat or buy ice cream...monkeys will get anything if they can Temple is beautiful, but still known for its monkeys

Great views and not too many stairs 👏 It is in need of small repairs but still beautiful and happy to see this amazing property

Great views, and the fishing port and seafood restaurants on the way up the hill are fantastic. But before there were 100s of monkeys and you can feed them, but now maybe a dozen and you cant

หาดทรายน้อย

Mentioned on
Beach
The beach known as Hat Sai Noi is a tranquil and picturesque spot surrounded by rocky outcrops. The cove provides a unique opportunity for deep-water swimming due to the sudden drop-off of the shoreline. While there are some local amenities such as resorts and restaurants, the crowds are relatively sparse on weekdays. The clear waters and soft white sand make it an attractive destination, with vendors selling Thai food and drinks available nearby.
Very beautiful beach, recommended to visit once if you come to Huahin. It suits for sunbathing, swimming and sightseeing. Atmosphere is so chill and relax.
Gift L. — Google review
Nice beach with mountain views. Too crowded though.
Sitatham Puechkamut — Google review
A wonderful quiet place with beautiful nature. There is an excellent Thai restaurant Boonsong located on the beach - I recommend visiting it! You can also rent a subboard or kayak here. You can also get a great massage on the beach for just 300 baht.
Aleksandr Kiriukhin — Google review
Not so overcrowded beach. Very nice if you go in the afternoon. Clean and some local restaurants available. No bunga bunga music so you can simply relax. You can park for free directly at the beach.
Taku N — Google review
Beautiful beach and quiet good time to relax and spend the day climbing around the mountain to see 360° sea view
Darin Khuntong (Noonoi) — Google review
Super location for relaxing, few tourists. Food and drinks are also available on this beach. The price for renting a chair is about 100 baht per person.
Weerapon Peter — Google review
Great backdrop for pictures!Beautiful bougainvillea, warm water, amazing rocks. Bring your own mat and sit on the sand or rent a chair for 30baht you may let the chair owner take care of you. He serves food. Get your phones ready to take a video on your way here. That road surrounded w/ bougainvillea is amazing. It’s like entering a fairyland.

This is a tiny, secluded beach with a few restaurants and bars. I have been there a few times, and it is never crowded. Lovely view of a couple small islands not far from shore.
Jack Batty (Voracious_Vagabond) — Google review
Nice beach but Water quite deep and not clear also wave.
Gphuot — Google review
Best view. Refreshing air. The rest is wonderful. A few people here with romantic atmosphere. The price is affordable
Superzchim — Google review
Quiet, private, clean, and really pretty beach😀 The water is also very clear, the white sand pretty soft and fewer people compared to hua hin beach. There are some shops selling drinks and thai food on the beach also, prices inexpensive and provides beach chairs for customers to relax as well☺️ Would come back again for sure!

Pran Buri Forest Park

Nature & Parks
Forests
Pran Buri Forest Park is a national park located in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Thailand. It is home to a dense mangrove forest and offers visitors beautiful and peaceful surroundings to enjoy nature. A teakwood walkway in the center of the park provides visitors with easy access to various parts of the forest. There are information posts along the way that provide information about the flora and fauna of the area.
Arrived morning of late December. Weather was great. This is great short walk. The walkway is made to respect nature so you’ll see cutouts to make way for the branches to naturally grow. Unfortunately, it was a high tide and failed to see more crabs and fish however we saw some slugs and a bird. Don’t miss the observatory which is about after 600m. Extremely easy walk but not handicap friendly. All of the information boards were only available in Thai. Would have loved to learn more of how the ecosystem works. Would gladly return to spend more time by the trees and beach. Sad to see a lot of trash by the beach.
Stephanie Cheung — Google review
Very nice! Wish there were more paths to take but yeah. It's a very short trip, only 1 km and takes around 50-60 minutes. The price for boats isn't that good 《450 for a small boat and 500 for one that's a bit bigger》 but it's not mandatory. Lots of informative signs and tiny cute delicious looking- animals
KKP — Google review
Great forest Park, lots to see. The mangroves and lots of different species of crabs. Entrance is free of charge which is unusual for thailand but good to see. Small store located at the half way of the forest loop where you can also take a boat ride. Boat ride is interesting as you get to see the fishing port and local fisherman houses. There are also couple of large lizards in the river if you are lucky you will see them, we managed to see 2 of them on the day.
Andrejs Krasko — Google review
This place ia beautiful. So many crabs and birds to see. A great short walk and it pretty cool as there is shade almost the entire time. It a slow paced walk and look, the only annoying part is the tourists who are trying to run through it and being loud. There is no enforcement of no plastic and quite. Sadly. There is no entrance fee and parking nearby!
Timothy Morgan — Google review
If you like walking in nature, then it's worthy to take a visit since it is free of charge! A forest beach on one since and a 1km trail to walk along the mangroove forest. For us it was more of a romantic walk in nature and you can grab a fresh coconut ice cream and coffee to chill... ☺️
Paul Meng — Google review
Must visit if you're in the Hua Hin area for fans of green places. The 1km walking path feels much longer which is great. If possible make sure to take a boat tour. The wooden viewpoint tower is a great way to see how large the mangrove forest actually is. There's a stall that sells ice cream, drinks, all kinds of snacks and even meat skewers at the main entrance. Just be aware to book transport in advance since it's impossible to get a Grab in this area since it's too remote. Alternatively you can order a Taxi at the beach café Eureka, which is 1km away from the mangrove forest's entrance.

Plenty of parking spaces and no entrance fee. The sightseeing path was a 1 km walk and would take you 40-60 mins depending on how you stop for sighseeing along the way. The path is well maintained. We went there around 11 AM on a sunny day, most of the path is covered by tree so is not too hot.
Tanit Kositsrikunakorn — Google review
It’s a nice free walk around the mangroves, and paying the crabs a visit. There is a boat ride tour for a fee, that cost 450-500 baht. Understand that if you are heavy built, they boat drivers may ask that less people can go for the boat’s safety. This would also be a nice place to teach your child how to bike, provided you bring your own bicycles. I didn’t see any bike rentals around
Pauline Grace Varanal — Google review
The place is amazing! I think I know how giants felt walking in a forest. There's a 1km route thought the mangroves which will take about 20 to 30 minutes.
John Aaron Gatdula — Google review
Found this on Google maps and thought would visit. Glad we did, the walk around the raised forest trail is exactly 1km. Very spectacular trees all around you, that are hard to capture on camera. Raised area half way around that provides amazing views of the surrounding mountains. Well worth a visit.

Mangrove National forest that’s well maintained to walk above it. About 1km long and half way there you can hop on the 45 mins river boat. The fiddler crabs are everywhere and you can feed them with the mangrove leafs. The walk is shaded almost all the way.
The Foodie Architect — Google review
One of the best mangrove swamp walk in Thailand. Worth a visit! It is approximately 1 km walk on mangrove bridge. You can start by going from the left way, if you choose the right way, it will be difficult to spot the distance marks. There are resting areas every 200-300 meters. The best spot is the watch tower. If you are a nature lover, you MUST visit! Highly recommended!!
Ben Chai — Google review
It was nice to walk and explore through the mangrove forest. We saw mostly crabs when we went as it seems like it is a bit of lowtide. There is a boat to go around. There is a sign, but it depends on how high the water is when you visit to possibly ride the boat. There is no entrance fee, only if you plan to ride around with the boat. Btw the boat ride can be seen halfway going through the mangrove forest. There is also a small stall there that sells drinks and snacks as at the entrance it indicates that no food and drinks are allowed in the Mangrove Forest.
Joseph Diaries — Google review
Adore this Forest 🌳 The mangrove walk is free to enter and is really lovely. You can spot little crabs going about their day and some are really colourful! The mangroves are amazing and near the end of your walk there is a beautiful open section of the path with a viewpoint, amazing for photos!
Elise Tanriverdi — Google review
The National park was a treat! And the boating trip is a must do when there. Do wear good shoes as the trail is long. The pranburi sea that's part of the national park was amazing to see!
Pournamy — Google review
Very interesting walk through the mangrove forest, along a well maintained, elevated wooden pathway. The path takes a circular route, about 1 km total length. There are a few benches to sit on, should you want to take a rest. Be sure to climb the tower for a panoramic view. Entry was free, a nice bonus. One pleasant detail - nearly the entire route is shaded, which made for a nice change from an otherwise sun-baked day. Toilets near the entry were very clean, and there's a stand selling drinks just outside the entry too. The only disappointment was that although there were numerous sign boards explaining the plant and animal life within the forest, they were all in Thai language. Be sure to bring your translator app if you want to learn more about this forest.

Pranburi Mangrove Forest is a good place to visit if you are a type of person who appreciate the beauty of nature and live healthy activities like trekking and walking. it was located inside the national park at the seaside and the park designated for biking or cycling. If you are a sporty type of person who loves nature and group activities.

Great place to visit. Nice walk around the mangroves (free) and then optional boat ride at 450baht for 1-4 people

A beautiful place which is so serene and clean air. Lots and lots of crabs to sight. The shady area to walk is also good.

A walk in the Pran Buri Forest Park followed by a boat ride is always a wonderful experience.
Urs Jacobi — Google review
Really nice 1 km walk through the mangroves. The Pran Buri national park is free to entry and it is small so you can't miss beginning of the trail. If you walk slowly you can see many crabs around - in the water but mostly at low branches of mangroves. There're more species - I think six or eight. There's boat ride in the middle of the trail. It was 450 thb/boat (max 4 people). We didn't take the boat, we just walked around. After few hundred meters there's a small lookout tower to see the nature around. Overall beautiful short trail. There are toilets near the beginning of the trail.
