Nantucket

Nantucket, a tiny, isolated island off Cape Cod, Massachusetts, is a summer destination with dune-backed beaches. It’s marked by unpainted cedar-shingled buildings, many surrounded by manicured privets. The wharves and cobblestoned streets of the Town of Nantucket are lined with restaurants, high-end boutiques and steepled churches. The town’s Whaling Museum recounts the island’s role as a 19th-century whaling hub.

Specialty Museums
The Whaling Museum is a must-visit attraction on the island of Nantucket. Housed in an 1847 candle factory, the museum showcases exhibits that depict the island's heyday as a whaling center in the 19th century. Visitors can view fascinating scrimshaw displays, which are engravings and carvings made by sailors on ivory or whalebone. The highlight of the museum is a 46-foot sperm whale skeleton towering above everything else.
Dont miss the the sepia tone FILM of actual whaling voyages in the ground floor exhibit room. And take the lift to the Observation Deck for a stunning view of Nantucket harbor and Sound.

Small museum with lots to see and there's even a toddlers discovery section! We easily spent an hour here just casually strolling through. There's a nice view on the roof deck. The kids discovery center had staff there helping kids make their own bracelets. Worth the visit!
Nanci Pham — Google review
Large, clean, well-organized museum depicting the life of Nantucket men back in the 1700's. Whaling was a very dangerous, filthy disgusting career that kept men away from home for 3 years at a time - IF they ever returned home. This museum gave us a history lesson we were never taught in our educational system.

Not to be missed during your visit to Nantucket. Could easily spend hours there, so fun and entertaining!

Exceeded my expectations! Looks small but is filled with excellent displays, interactive areas, small vignettes, history movies. Unique use of the space. Great staff. A must see!
Vanessa Roach — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised by the whaling museum. The young man who did the live presentation was excellent!

Don’t miss this gem of a museum. It looks small on the outside, but it’s quite spacious inside. The exhibits and artwork are fascinating and really give you a real appreciation for Nantucket’s history and the people, including women and BIPOC, who shaped it.
Barbra Alan — Google review
Everyone Who visits Nantucket should make a trip to the Whaling Museum. Is an excellent opportunity to learn about the history of the island and the people who made it what it is. Although the whaling, as a practice, ended on the island 150 years ago, there is lots of rich history in the museum.
Blake Thomas — Google review
A fabulous local museum sharing the rich history of Nantucket. The exhibits flow nicely and there is just enough to see. The film they show on the half hour is also a nice watch - gives a great background on the history. Roof Walk is a must-do. The museum gift shop is great - the prices are VERY reasonable - especially compared to many other shops in town.
DWF — Google review
Really incredible museum that does a fantastic job of highlighting the whole history of the island, not just whaling! Every display piece was laid out with care and had easy to read descriptions for each. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and I highly recommend listening to their lectures or striking up a conversation on a favorite piece. My personal favorite section was the gallery of residences and founders.
Vicky Thiel — Google review
This was an awesome way to start our adventure on Nantucket. Tons of information. Not only about whales but for the whole town. It's $25.00 for adults. They have a full size whale skeleton on display. I loved their rooftop. You could see the whole down town. They also had some tables and chairs to sit and relax on. They also have elevators. Great museum. I had my bookbag with me and I was asked to keep it in their closet. I learned a lot.
Jennifer Winthurst — Google review
All the locals told me I must go to the museum I went it was interesting to see the history and culture of this island. A gentleman that was a actor acting out an average day on a ship was very much into his character and he was aggravated that I was holding myself on. Make sure you put all your cell phones away when he performs or he will call you out. Overall really nice experience if you're in town definitely do it once. Make sure you go upstairs to the roof and check out the view.

Very informative. To really appreciate it you should give it three or four hours.

Visiting the Nantucket Whaling Museum is a deep dive into the rich maritime history that shaped the island of Nantucket. Housed in a beautifully restored 19th-century candle factory, the museum offers an extensive collection of artifacts, art, and exhibits that paint a vivid picture of Nantucket's bygone whaling era. The massive sperm whale skeleton suspended from the ceiling is a showstopper, reminding visitors of the majesty and might of these leviathans. Coupled with knowledgeable docents and interactive displays, the museum ensures an immersive experience for history buffs and curious minds alike. A trip to Nantucket would be incomplete without understanding its whaling heritage, and this museum is the perfect gateway. Highly recommended for an insightful and enriching experience and make sure you go all the way up top for a great view of the town!

Great place to visit. I wish I had more time to take it all in. Tons of exhibits and history to soak up. The whaling presentation was well put together and engaging. I'll hopefully be back some day to give it the time it deserves.
William O'Neill — Google review
Excellent museum and an extraordinarily friendly staff. The exhibits were well done and provided a lot of information. There were also a lot of special talks and experiences for visitors. This is a must see!!
James Hamilton — Google review
We visited on a rainy day in Nantucket. I went in knowing nothing about whaling and left fascinated by this dangerous and now defunct industry. I downloaded the audio tour on my phone which helped me navigate the exhibits. The live talk was also great and very well done. All touch screens were functional, museum well maintained. My only critique is the audio tour was not well demarcated at times; there was not a lot of direction where to go next.
Jyoti Bhatia-Barnes — Google review
If you are thinking about coming to the whaling museum, I’ll give you a few reasons why you absolutely should: 1. The museum is interesting, fun, and enjoyable to spend time in. It’s interesting because the way the curators tell the story of whaling and the history of the island is done extremely well. It’s fun because the information is accessible and can be interpreted by a wide range of age groups, and it’s enjoyable because there is so much to learn and so much history involved in the process that made Nantucket what it is today. 2. You can tell there was a lot of work that went into the exhibits, it shows. As you move through the spaces in the museum it’s almost like entering a storybook. You are transported to the places in the story they are telling. This was impressive to me but my kids absolutely loved it. This place will spark the imagination. 3. There is an accessible roof area that will give you 360 degree views of the historic downtown and the water. It’s incredible beautiful. 4. The staff is friendly and helpful. Normally ticket prices are 20 for an adult and children under six are free. The staff is knowledgeable about the museum and will give you the inside information on what to see. 5. There is an incredible children’s section of the museum. This is a fantastic place to take kids if you are a parent. They also have a photo booth that you can take family photos in and they are free to email to yourself. Note: No food or drink. So, if you are thinking of coming here I’d definitely recommend going. Feel free to look at the photos of the space that I added. It should give you a good idea of what you are getting into.

The Brant Point Lighthouse is an historic lighthouse located in Nantucket, Massachusetts. The tower was established in 1746 and still operates today. It is quite small, standing at just 26 feet tall, but its scenic location makes it a popular spot for wedding photos.
Beautiful little lighthouse, with a small beach. There were people fishing off the rocks when we were there. We could see the lighthouse on the ferry back to Hyannis. Also, a beautiful sunset.
Kay-Kay M. — Google review
Beautiful old lighthouse with the cutest little beach to watch the boats and ferries pass by.
Christopher Henderson-West — Google review
Seems to be one of the most popular places for photos, It seems there is always someone around here either fishing, enjoying the view, taking a relaxing stroll along the beach or taking photos of incoming boats. Quite peaceful to just sit down and enjoy an hour.
Rodney Yoswig — Google review
The oldest lighthouse on Nantucket and the second oldest in the USA! Such a cool piece of history and the area has fantastic views of the harbor. You can even see the Old North and South Churches! The water is real calm and it makes for an awesome fishing spot! It is probably the best place to watch boats come and go from the harbor! When the ferry passes by everyone waves! This is a must see when on the Island!
Caley — Google review
Cute little lighthouse right by the main Nantucket harbor, a 10-15-minute walk from the city center. The lighthouse is on a small beach and a nice wooden walkway in front of it, making it great for some nice pictures. Great lighting at sunset. Maybe at sunrise too, but that's usually too early for me 😅
Nicolas Depauw — Google review
Such a beautiful little lighthouse. There are beautiful pink and white flowers dotting the beach along the wall to the lighthouse, and this beach is perfect for collecting seashells and watching the sail boats. Loved our walk here!
meghan diver — Google review
Great spot for sunrise pictures. Exactly as I had pictured it. What happened to the flag attached to the ocean side?
Bob Smith — Google review
Enjoyed the view from the ferry as it seemed to offer up the best vantage point. It is just a short walk from downtown but my feet were pretty worn out at the end of the day. Plenty of people fishing out here and some beautiful wood sailing boats anchored off shore.
Trypp Adams — Google review
If you want to check out a lighthouse close to town this is the place to go! Easy to get to and parking available, this is a quick one stop shop to see a lighthouse, look at some shells on the beach, and enjoy the scenery. One thing I really enjoy about this place is the proximity to restaurants and coffee. The lighthouse is beautiful and it’s just easily accessible. Well worth going.

Great Point Lighthouse

Mentioned on
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Great Point Lighthouse, situated on the dunes of Nantucket National Wildlife Refuge, is a historic structure that was reconstructed in 1986. The lighthouse boasts an intriguing background and offers numerous opportunities to capture stunning photographs from any vantage point. Visitors will likely spot sea lions both in the ocean and on the beach. It's important to note that reaching Great Point Lighthouse requires a lengthy walk through sandy terrain since it's inaccessible by vehicle.
This place is amazing. Best of all, it’s hard to get to but 100 percent worth it. If you are making your first trip out please make sure you let the air out of your tires to drive on the sand. Also, make sure you have a capable suv or truck that can get you out and back. You will be driving on soft sand for a few miles and yes a normal suv will get stuck. This part of Nantucket is untouched and full of wildlife. Seals often pop their head out of the surface of the water and stare at you if you are walking or driving by. Many will sunbathe on the sand. Be sure to keep distance from them. They are wild animals. All in all, if you have the opportunity to make the trip out, take it! It’s something you will never forget.
Derek Rodenbeck — Google review
Everything about Great Point Lighthouse is awesome! The history behind it is fascinating and you can get crazy cool photos from literally any spot out there! There are always a bunch of sea lions hanging out in the water and on the beach. If it's your first time going out then I would recommend walking to get there. It's a long walk but it's well worth it!
Caley — Google review
This place is a wonderful drive to get to, it's a nice off road drive accessible only in a 4wd vehicle. 15 lbs tire pressure max or you will get stick in the loose sand. Beautiful drive to the Great Point lighthouse with plenty of beach to enjoy.
Rodney Yoswig — Google review
Very lovely spot. Can be difficult to get there as it is miles down a barrier beach and sand dunes. One needs a 4WD vehicle with the appropriate over sand permits. Rental jeeps with permits are available. Many seals in that area.
Tim Cashman — Google review
Abandoned light house. Hundreds of seals. About a 20 minute walk. Incredible experience. Worth every minute.

The Sankaty Head Light is a charming and historic lighthouse that was constructed in 1850. It boasts stunning ocean and golf-course views, making it a must-visit spot on the island. Although it was automated in 1965, the lighthouse still operates to this day! Aside from regular tours, visitors can also check out various events through its calendar such as auctions, shows, and an annual fun run.
It felt like the end of the world, and above everything else a tremendous view of all of the island in all directions. And historical site that has a ton of history with a dramatic view of Holmes Beach golf club, cliffs, ocean and beautiful skies. I highly recommend going to see this lighthouse.
David Goldoff — Google review
Loved visiting this Lighthouse. There's a beautiful view of the ocean to the right and a beautiful view of the golf course to the left.
Jay Bahre — Google review
This is a beautiful lighthouse in excellent condition overlooking gorgeous but highly fragile bluffs on the eastern side of Nantucket, just a bit north of Sconset. You cannot go in the lighthouse, but you can walk right up to it. Parking is very limited considering the popularity of the site, and my biggest disappointment is the limited space to park bicycles, given how popular traveling the island by bike is. Know ahead of time that there are no facilities at this site (unlike many of the beaches with bathrooms, water fountains, etc).
Ryan Rilinger — Google review
The lighthouse was beautiful, there is a cliff on the side of the lighthouse that has a nice view. You can see where the original lighthouse was and there is a map which shows you the history. They have their own parking lot, and it is a short walk to the lighthouse.
David Gosciminski — Google review

Nice lighthouse with a good view on the east side of Nantucket but you have to get permission from the historical society to go in.
Steven Ertelt — Google review
A beautiful lighthouse (I actually think the best one of the three on the island). The views are stunning and the sea air invigorating. Worth the drive out and you will not want to go back to the hotel. (Caution though restroom access in the area if basically non-existent).

Libraries
The impressive Greek Revival building of the Nantucket Atheneum serves not only as a public library but also as an event space frequented by notable figures. The Great Hall located on the second floor has hosted lectures by renowned individuals such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Frederick Douglass in the past, with current speakers still making appearances today. In addition to offering a variety of books, including summer novels for adults and children's books, the library provides movies and games for checkout.
The indoor library is closed to visitors due to COVID restrictions, which was disappointing as I hoped to see this historic building. Nevertheless this seems to be a beautiful library and the outdoor garden area is quite nice.

I have to say, the library on Nantucket is so nice and the staff so friendly and helpful. You can check out not only books, but also movies and games. I think it is perfect place to visit to get a summer novel to read or get a cartoon to watch with your child.

Seafood restaurant
Galley Beach is a quaint and waterfront seafood restaurant that offers breathtaking views of the ocean and beach. The menu focuses on fresh and locally caught seafood, with items that are exquisitely presented against a beautiful backdrop of sand and water. Galley Beach is popular among locals for its casual yet stylish atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a relaxing meal outdoors in the sun.
It can be a dreamy peaceful beachside chic restaurant to dine before tourist season or a crowded hip hangout similar to Nikki Beach Miami in the summer. Regardless the food is amazing with views to match. Max reservations are 2 weeks out. Plan to spend hours relaxing.
Mark Collins — Google review
There is nothing beachy-er than a restaurant that has tables in the sand oceanside. The whole location was just what we were looking for. We had a great table under The tent outside. The wind was a bit much so my recommendation is go ahead and sit in the sun if the winds are high. We enjoyed drinks and lunch. The chicken on naan was very tasty and the halibut was perfectly cooked. The service was a bit slow, but you could see staff just hanging out.
Chris Lopez — Google review
Not very polite servers at the time of eating here (waited a long time and felt very rushed to leave the place). Were told it was extremely busy but there were a lot of empty tables. The food was fine, but the location is the real reason to eat here. When we did get brought the bill the waiter never once spoke to us. The tip was included.
InfiniteGray — Google review
Very underwhelming experience here. The cost of the meal was asinine. You can go to so many other places on the island for a much better meal at a cheaper cost. Service lacked class for such an “esteemed” venue. Just a very bland experience and won’t be going back when there are many other great options. Chowder came out cold, lobster tail was rubbery and potatoes were greasy. “Glass of wine” turned out to be 2 sips worth too. Just could tell it was an operation to get people in and out. Location is great but that’s it.
J Will — Google review
Wonderful pre-fixe dining experience, excellent service, my octopus salad and scallops were absolutely delicious. We were able to eat outside and enjoy the sunset, really quite nice. It's very expensive for sure but totally worth the splurge...
Allan Harris — Google review
Location is stunning! The food was very good, and the service as well. The beach was so beautiful! Definitely recommend getting the crème brûlée, and be sure to also book a few weeks in advance.
Grace Gherman — Google review
Had an amazing dinner at Galley Beach. Service 5/5 Food 5/5 Menu 3/5 - It's annoying that they say the two course menu is $89 per person and then they charge an extra price for about 50% of the dishes on the menu. At this point just make the menu prices a la carte. The food itself is great but the way this menu is structured is a little unnecessary. Views: 10/5 - We ate on the beach and it was really amazing. Would definitely recommend. Parking 1/5 - Not a fan of valet parking. The meal is expensive enough without adding on $15 for my car to be parked. Would recommend parking elsewhere and walking.

Amazing spot. I’d give it more stars if I could. Accommodating for a big group. Food/drink menu is spectacular. A must see if you’re in the area. The outside area is a must if you’re into great atmosphere. Took a photo cause it was so beautiful. High prices but that’s relatively normal on the island.

Louis our waiter was outstanding, all 5 of us agreed that this was by far our favorite dinner on Nantucket. Absolutely gorgeous setting and location for a dinner at sunset. We can't stop talking about it. Thank you for a perfect evening in every way. ❤️

Location is stunning but the food is very underwhelming. The crab cake was nice but had a very strong fishy flavor. If you aren’t one who can handle the strong taste I would skip. Ordered the salmon and it was lacking flavor. Brussels sprouts were bland and the sauce was also lacking. My friend ordered the Swordfish and was much more seasoned (though still underwhelming). This is definitely a place for cocktails and enjoying the sunset. Skip the food and eat someplace else.
Rose Haley — Google review
The whole experience was spectacular! The food was so flavorful and perfectly cooked. I’m not one to get a veggie meal but the autumn seasonal vegetables were superb. So fresh and beautifully prepared. The salmon was perfectly cooked (for me, personally), medium rare center with crisp skin. The truffle sauce, incredible touch! Paired perfectly with the veggies. My husband loved the halibut he got. The wine selection was nice, we liked the Baron de L Sauvignon Blanc. The sunset to finish was a perfect ending! We will be back.

Holy you know what. The Chicken Fried Trout was nothing short of incredible. In Oklahoma, we love anything wrapped in unhealthy fried goodness and this was one of the most remarkable dishes I have had in a long time. Wonderful flavor, not heavy but filling. Bravo on that dish! My wife had the Cavatelli and it was in a league of its own, as well. Can’t wait to visit again.

The best dining experience in town for me in Nantucket. My girlfriend and I had a great laugh chatting in the relaxing environment. I strongly recommend a visit here with loved ones. The staff were extremely friendly. They helped me understand the menu and patiently explain the dishes to me. I was amazed by the creativity of the menu. I loved the arctic char salmon so much that I even licked the plate, not even mentioning how it was well-represented!! We had a great time sitting outside while enjoying the ambiance outdoors. It is definitely a great memory for us.
Daniel Zezheng Jiang — Google review
This is perhaps THE most overrated restaurant in Nantucket. The menu is small and idiosyncratic. We had sliced duck, fried green tomatoes, and fried fish. Every dish was bland. When the server asked how we liked things, we told her "not very much,", she said, "Sorry," and that was that. No manager ever appeared to talk to us, nothing was done about the bill. The food is simply and totally average at best. Save your money, it's very expensive (as are all restaurants here). This review is from our dinner tonight.
Alan Weiss — Google review
Have visited props several times across the years when I have been on Nantucket. They have consistently delivered and I find it refreshing to discover a new menu each season but which carries through the same feeling and quality. I live in London and for this level of food (mouth wateringly, lick the plate good) and the source of the ingredients (local, prepped on site) the prices are in line with major cities. This restaurant strikes a spot between fine dining but with a relaxed and familial atmosphere. It's not budget because you are paying for the sourcing. I feel this is overlooked in some reviews. The portions are designed for sharing and trying the broader menu. The cherry snap pea salad sent me to heaven and as a vegetarian there is a great range, with vegetables not left on the back seat unlike many locations. Experienced attentive and friendly service throughout. Love how much fruit they get into dishes. Cocktails not to miss.
Robyn Em — Google review
Was seated on the second floor which had really nice vibe. All the plates were unique and vintage which were beautiful. Portion is bit small, but all the dishes were perfect! - best hummus I had in my life. The server was also very friendly. The only thing I didn’t like was diet coke because it came out in a tall thin glass with full of ice. It tasted bit like water and charged me $5 per glass. Even after two glasses, it felt little less than regular can.
Joseph Kim — Google review
Unique dining experience. Gourmet flavored food. NOT your traditional dining place. If you are open to try something new and discover new flavors that is your place. Every season menu changes. Drinks are good. Staff is aways friendly. This season menu is mostly vegetable based. As a meat lover i was open to try different veggie options. Be open minded. Menu is definitely better than last summer. Prices are high I guess something normal for downtown Nantucket restaurant experience.
Stacey McKenzie — Google review
Fantastic menu, service and atmosphere. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Really delighted that we spent our Saturday night in Nantucket here. We went for a selection across the menu to share between two: the tuna, cavatelli, the Korean short rib, the duck pancakes and the halloumi. Each dish was as delicious as the one served before it.
Anton McMenamin — Google review
Exceptional, unique dinner options, promptly served, with creative flavors in each bite. My definition of heaven. Don’t be afraid to try things on the menu you can’t pronounce. It’s all brilliantly designed to delight. Compliments to the chef!

Delicious and creative dishes! Our Server was wonderful. The atmosphere is so charming. We loved our meal and specialty cocktails- scallion pancakes were my favorite. Very unique ingredient combos, farm to table with a hip vintage vibe. we ordered several small plates each to share- fresh vegetables and herbs, cool combos of textures and flavors, delish sauces. Such a great experience. impeccable food and service! Will return.

Omg !!!! That food ... and that drinks ... speeches... just incredibly delicious. Quick update: The summer 2023 menu is even better!!! The prawns are one of the tastiest things that i ever eat in my life. The place is really small and really crowded. It is really difficult to make a reservation, but believe me, there is a reason why the food is just unbelievably amazing. If you are lucky enough to get a table, believe me worth the waiting and every penny that you will spend there. Menu is big for the size of the place, many Asian cuisine choices (no sushi), and many vegetarian and meat options. Drinks are great ! The food arrived when it was ready so be prepared that there is no first or second . Staff will inform you about this before you order. Prices are normal for the Nantucket lifestyle. I'm highly recommending that place!

I can't tell you how much I USED to love this place, not anymore. I went on Resy 12:01AM exactly when they said to book a week in advance and still couldn't get my party of 6 reserved. End up going at 5:30PM another time after setting up notification. Once there, great table inside. But it was EXTREMELY LOUD. Food was not anywhere near as tasty as past summers. Much smaller portions too. I seriously could not wait to leave. Mediocre at best food, mediocre at best service, below ave atmosphere. There are so many BETTER OPTIONS that serve similar dishes. Def scratching off my list.
Lee Cutler — Google review
Given how difficult it was to obtain a reservation, we expected a great dining experience. We were sorely disappointed. My Old Fashioned cocktail was the worst I have ever had in a restaurant. It was so watery that I think the bartender must have been so busy that he mistakenly substituted water for simple syrup. All of the food was overly salty including the Shishito peppers, mushrooms a la plancha, scallion pancake and the blue crab fried rice. The service was poor - when the food was delivered the plates were slammed on the table and accompanied by a grunt. The atmosphere was horrible. The music was too loud and the tables were too close together. It was difficult to hear what the waitress was saying to us and it was difficult for my wife and I to carry on a conversation. We have spent the last week on Nantucket and this was our worst dining experience. Every other restaurant that we ate was markedly better including The Pearl, American Seasons, Cru, Toppers and Ventuno.

We loved it all. Food was well prepared and very tasty. Sam, our server, was wonderful. She handled a couple of menu questions with ease and was very thorough. Amazing. Food is killer—across the board. But the Peking duck is a show stopper. Enough arguably for a table of 6 it’s about as good a dish as there is. Service is warm. Drinks are cold. Enough said. Must stop on the island.

A must go!!! For now they are only doing phone call booking after 2pm for the same day dinner, so make sure you call right after 2pm. They are usually booked out after 2:15pm. We didn’t get the booking but decided to walk in and try, and luckily got an outdoor seating! Every dish is worth it, very tasty and satisfying!! I would strongly recommend the blue crab fried rice, tempera oyster roll and shishito. We also got an extra free fried pancake from the kitchen, don’t know why. :) Overall experience is just perfect!

Hard to go wrong with the range of bites available on the menu, but the crab fried rice was quite fantastic. Definitely explore the sake list to complement your meal, and I've included pictures of the pork belly bao, street corn, monkfish bites, and carpaccio (alas, we feasted on the fried rice before pictures).

This was our second time dining here. We enjoyed the poke bowl (favorite dish of the night), pork buns, oyster tacos, bay scallop ceviche and crab fried rice (second favorite dish of the night). The cocktails were delicious and the service was attentive. The restaurant is a little loud but everyone (customers and servers) were all having fun!

One of the best restaurants on Nantucket. We had the shishito peppers, crab fried rice is to die for. Tuna poke bowl is amazing too. Follow me on social media at @acknatural. Nantucket’s cannabis Dispensary

Our hotel highly recommended the Nautilus and we were excited to try it. We secured reservations for the week after Christmas, our first time on the island. We arrived and there was a line outside. Atmosphere was nice, music was pretty loud and lights dimmed with a happy energetic crowd. Menu options were either tapas or 'large entree' - we went with tapas. The food was good. A nice selection of asian, vegetarian, complex offerings (like delicata squash with blue cheese and pepitas). The squash dish was not quite sweet or soft enough. Contrasting flavors normally would have been good, but not cooked enough/too firm. It wasn't quite the complex ingredients or technically cooked dish we were expecting. The poke bowl was good, pork buns were ok (we had better ones in Newport RI). Did the food blow our minds? No. The gingerbread creme brûlée dessert was delicious. Service and overall experience was really good. Will we return? Maybe. Stay tuned for our next restaurant, tomorrow.

We went again this year and were not disappointed. Each dish we had was genuinely better than the one before. The fried oyster tacos, soft shell crab buns special, and Thai lobster curry were out of this world. And the staff, especially our server, Aria, and the sommelier were incredibly helpful. If you can get a reservation... it's a must-go. From a year ago...Simply one of the top 2 or 3 restaurants on the island. The cocktails are amazing (try the Tequila Mockingbird) and the food is second to none. We arrived around 9 and were able to sit at the bar after ~30 minute wait, during which time we enjoyed our cocktails and wine. Super fun and casual atmosphere, and the food was delicious and unique (the pork buns, crab fried rice, and lobster noodles were...*chef's kiss*). It can be really hard to get a reservation, but it is not too be missed and is one of our favorite Nantucket restaurants of all time.

Seafood restaurant
Bar
Cru is a seafood restaurant located on the waters edge in Nantucket Harbor. The restaurant offers expansive raw bar options and cooked seafood fare, as well as views of the harbor that remain just as spectacular after the sun goes down.
My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary here, and the service and food were amazing! I had no issue with making our reservation (made July 1st for our August 10 dinner). Miro took excellent care of us, and the sommelier had excellent recommendations for wine pairings - our glasses were never empty! Wonderful recommendations on apps and food. Everything was fresh, delicious and cooked to perfection. Miro surprised us with a wonderful dessert of meringue with fresh fruit and a butterscotch custard ~ a perfect ending to the most amazing meal! Excellent coastal cuisine, lively atmosphere with great harbor views and beyond top-notch service!!

Walked by Cru knowing it was one of the most popular restaurants in Nantucket. No reservations, but we saw many 2 tops on the water outside empty. Hostess asked us if we has a reservations, we did not, she looked to her manager and she gave the nod to seat us. Service was attentive and not overwhelming. We both had warm lobster rolls. They were good and fries were hot. The inside was a lot more lively than the outside but we preferred the more laid back atmosphere of the outside. Photos are from our table right on the water.

Visited in late Sept. with girlfriends celebrating a special birthday and we had such a wonderful time. Cru was our final night and I definitely think we saved the best for last, food-wise. I had the scallops tagliatelle, topped with a dollop of caviar🤤 We also shared oysters and ceviche to start, which were both top notch. Our server was speaking in a super hushed tone and we could barely hear him every time he came to the table. Other than that, this place was an absolute dream. I only wish we could have seen it in-season as it was pretty quiet on a Sunday night off-season. They were super gracious to let us stay for a nightcap after dinner at the front bar with Sean and the manager, and a deliciously crisp bottle of white. I hope to return one day soon (hopefully a summer day)!

You can’t get reservations here, but the bar is first come first serve so we just walked in and sat down for lunch. And if you were mildly shocked at the price for the lobster roll, as a lobster roll connoisseur let me assure you - WORTH IT. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - amazing cold version with 2x the meat and 100% super fresh. Loved every bite. It’s also fun to sit at the bar right where they shuck the oysters 🦪— shell to table. Much more interesting than the ocean view - which you can get anywhere ( it’s an island - it’s sort of the thing here ). Anyway, the roll is worth the trip, and raised my bar for the “most expensive but also best” - class.

The hype is real and well-deserved. The waterfront views and the atmosphere are unbeatable. First time here, came for a birthday dinner on Memorial Day - service was good and the food nothing short of spectacular. When we arrived they already had our table ready. We ordered a mojito mocktail and a dirty martini - both delicious. We started with a dozen of fresh oysters and artichokes and they did not let down. Both in court and in oyster-picking I recommend taking the 5th. We had Roasted Black Sea Bass and the Rigatoni. The pasta was good but the Sea Bass was from out of this world. By far the best I have ever had. We finished with the chocolate cake to wrap up the birthday dinner - also very good. It would be unfair to rate Cru anything but 10/10. We will come back. Every time.

Great spot for long lunches and fancy dinners. Food is New England seafood that they take up a notch. The warm and cold lobster rolls are amazing. Sit back, sip rose’ and watch the yachts roll in. 10/10

Located right at the wharf. Went here twice with no reservations. Hosts were very welcoming. First time we went early afternoon and sat at the bar and had drinks and appetizers. Oysters were delicious. Great wine list. Second visit we went again with no reservations at 6pm. We were seated in the outdoor dining area. Service top notch. Dinner was delicious (a la cart). Beautiful views of the boats and yachts. Very professional staff! If you want to eat inside, you need a reservation. Enjoy

Must do in Nantucket. We had a lovely New England experience seated by a window inside over looking the boats. The lobster roll was one of the best on the island and the green salad was unique and Delicious. We also had the clam chowder which was good but not my favorite, a little to creamy. The butterscotch pot de creme was really good.

Went for dinner last night and everything was outstanding. Our waiter was very attentive and had great recommendations. We had some oysters, the grilled artichoke and then lobster rolls, halibut and the steak. Everyone loved their food. The one drink you need to try is a Crucumber.

One of the best places to go and see in Nantucket. Amazing lobster rolls, probably the best on the island. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. If you’re planning on going with a larger group, recommend making reservations very far in advance. Sometimes you get lucky with bar seating. CRUcucumber is and will always be a fan fav. Nice to see the boats roll in and out too. Highly recommend for any occasion but it is expensive as is most of the island. Expect to walk a short distance if you’re driving. You don’t want to miss out on this spot if you’re visiting.

Was fortunate to get a table on the beachside patio with no reservation— and it was incredible. Cocktails were amazing, suggest the mezcal for sure! The food was even better— started with oysters, got 2 of each and truly the best and freshest oysters I’ve ever had. Followed with the salmon belly & yellowtail crudo which was divine. But the main event was the warm lobster roll, and it was arguably the best I’ve ever had. The fries were perfectly crisp— and the Calabrian chili aioli paired with it was incredible. Will definitely be returning and a MUST if visiting the island.

Get spot on Straight Wharf to grab a bite, drink and people watch. Misto with artichokes was a fun start - and Salad Niçoise and a dozen oysters was perfect for a main course. Service was excellent - and the setting is just ideal.

I don't think ths lobster roll / crucumber combo can be best. Absolutely delicious and something I look forward to everytime I'm on tucket. Highly highly recommend especially on a beautiful day, definitely a high price point though.

Top notch food and top notch drinks. We sat at the bar and Shaun was on top of it all. He made phenomenal drinks and was spot on with his food recommendations. Don’t skip the blue crab salad or the lobster squid ink pasta.

The warm lobster roll is arguably the best on island. Oysters were excellent and the atmosphere is the perfect place to sit outside and take in the view. I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints.

Chic restaurant with a laid back vibe. Great oyster selection and the butternut ravioli was sublime. Fantastic wine choice. Pricey but worth it.

American restaurant
Dune is a modern, upscale restaurant on the seafront in Nantucket that offers a unique culinary experience, with prime cuts of meat and fresh seafood being highlights on the menu. With elegant decor and stunning views of the harbor, Dune is perfect for contemporary American food with an edge. From the moment you walk in, you'll know this place takes its food seriously - try some of their mouth-watering dishes like oysters or salmon al pastor.
Yes it's expensive but the food is very good. The portions are reasonably good too. We shared the cantonese clams and got the pork chop & blackened salmons as our mains. The clam portion was a bit underwhelming but the flavor was there for sure.

Cozy and intimate. This is one of my 2 favorite restaurants in Nantucket. The atmosphere is amazing. Second floor gives you more privacy. Garden is great for the summer nights. My favorite is that they changing the menu depending of the season, they have daily specials and the best you can have a half of dinner entrée. Drinks are great and they also can make you some that are not included at the menu. Now let's talk about that amazing food. So delicious. Every bite gives you happiness!!!Great options for vegetarians. Check the menu at their site for updates. Staff is friendly and professional. Prices are responsible. Call and make reservations in advance. If i can give 6 starts i would.

Outstanding meal at the bar. Great knowledgeable friendly bartender with amazing drinks to start the night. Our dinner was creative, visually appealing and tastes amazing. Each plate looks like a modern painting- wow! Our party enjoyed every dish but some highlights : - raw grey lady oysters with rhubarb mignonette - the sauce was unusual in that it had a creamy texture while still delivering the traditional slightly sweeter mignonette taste. Very plumb good sized oysters - house cured gravlax with crispy rice crackers. loved the textures and tastes. We fought over this dish! - halibut: one side was perfectly crispy and the other side was light flaky perfectly cooked- just on the side of done. The coconut lemongrass broth was so light and flavorful. Just fun to eat - pork chops. My husband loved this cooked to medium. Juicy, flavorful. Quite a filling meal. - sea scallops With risotto was a hit! - must get: chocolate pot de creme. Sinful! Can’t wait to visit again!!

Staying true to my new leaf on life, we were able to visit one of my oldest and dearest friend, Beth Davisson and her family in Nantucket before our vacation on the Cape started. With all of us being foodies we went to this amazing restaurant for dinner. Ozzie Pardilla and I actually went to culinary school together so we always have fun "speaking food" together. Usually I'm not a fan of fruit in a vinaigrette form but the pink peppercorns balanced it beautifully. I highly recommend the Nantucket oysters with rhubarb mignonette! I'll take 5 to 20 more please😎 One of my favorite presentations these days is table side pours. This summer corn bisque reminded me of Sean Hutchinson BWC shrimp and corn chowder but with crab and then blended. Extremely silky and smooth I wasn't able to try this gorgeous beet dish with a goat cheese smear and the option of balsamic or red sorrel vinaigrette because of the pistachios but it was enjoyed by all others. Crispy and tender calamari were precisely placed on a light basil aioli and accompanied by tasty treats one of which neither Ozzie Pardilla nor I could identify but loved....I need to know! This picture does not do this justice, apologies! Tender lobster rested on the most perfectly prepared zucchini and mushroom risotto with pea shoots and preserved lemon. This is an appetizer but it eats like a meal. ❤️ It was suggested by a wise young foodie that I order the halibut of steak so I did. This attractive dish complimented the halibut with a delicate coconut and lemongrass broth while adding texture and crunch with bok choy and wax beans. Well played young Padawan (Ava), well played. Sean ordered the steak (allowing me to enjoy both recommendations) which normally is served with blue cheese but he asked for that on the side. Ok so what could be better than bearnaise aioli AND fois gras jus with your steak? Duck fat fries! Seriously...fantastic!🥰

Wanted to try a new dinner restaurant and was intrigued by the menu. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer which was good but the portion was very small. The entrees ordered were the pan roasted cape sea scallops and the grilled steak frites. The scallops entree came with two full scallops and one half. I was surprised by the half. Even though the portion size was lacking they were fresh and tasted good. The second entree of grilled steak frites was cooked perfectly at medium rare. The aioli and black truffle au ju with blue cheese crumbles it came with was delicious. The steak frites was worth the price unfortunately I did not feel the scallops were at the price point of $54. I would return to try another dish such as the swordfish.

Great food & vibe! Definitely would like to come back again when visiting Nantucket! I had their Rum cocktail which was wonderful, had to get second. Their pork belly dish was excellent (forgot to photograph). Food is a bit expensive for what you are going to get but still worth it!
