Sights & Landmarks
St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral, constructed in 1776, is a Catholic place of worship with an adorned stone bell tower and stained-glass windows. Once inside the cathedral, visitors are greeted by mesmerizing architecture and a respectful crowd. The dome and the glass windows are particularly noteworthy. It's suggested to visit during weekdays to fully appreciate this beautiful structure situated in downtown Dumaguete amidst commercial surroundings that may detract from its grandeur.
An iconic landmark and a very classical church in Dumaguete City. Probably the biggest and located infront of the park, right in the middle of downtown area. Tried attending their sunday service as they have one English mass and the rest are in Bisaya. They have ample parking for churchgoers.
Efren Zoleta — Google review
They require mass-goers to write their info, do temp check, & sanitize. Distancing is a bit followed inside the church. Great sound system & tv screens for the responses and song lyrics. Area is neat, has a park in front & lots of famous establishments around. Update: now at full capacity because dumaguete is already in alert level 1.
Nikka Cris — Google review
The church currently undergoing repair and renovation, the most i liked is the old tower located outside the church.

Beautiful Cathedral in downtown Dumaguete. I was fortunate to be in the park across the street from St. Catherine's on Sunday , just as the faithful were leaving morning mass. So much activity and traffic as people were leaving. Beautiful interior.

Beautiful church in Dumaguete. One of the iconic and popular tourist destinations as well. There was a foot reflexology nearby and me and my parents loved the service.
Francesca Beatrice Medel — Google review
Pretty small for a cathedral and unfortunately I was not able to fully experience the artworks because they were covered with purple cloth for lent. Got to see some of the stained glass and they were nice. Nothing mind blowing but still worth visiting if you're into Filipino churches/architecture. There weren't a lot of people for the bisita iglesia so it was a comfortable visit.
P10 — Google review
My Go-to every Sunday for Mass. Since, the alert level for Covid subside, the Cathedral Church is not that much strict now when it comes to churchgoers, even though, we should still follow safety protocols when going to public places. One suggestion, Hope they'll have a better sound system so that people could really hear the homily of the priest, to be able to be immersed in the word of God.
Ching Ramirez — Google review
An old parish which has stood the test of time. This church is one of the earliest structures in the island and has nurtured and continues to nurture the faith of the people.
Karen Shih — Google review
The old tower bell is nice and the cupole inside the church could be a spaceship...
Jordi Albatross — Google review
It's an old Catholic church. Check out the Belfry tower. Need to double check the schedule for English and Bisaya masses. The altar is being renovated. The left side TVs are ok. The right TVs were not functioning
Jefferson Tio — Google review
If the surroundings are not to my taste as they show a too commercial image and disorganized atmosphere, when you enter in the cathedral you plunged into a respectful crowd and a beautiful architecture. The dome is a particularly noticeable realization. The nef is also to be admired as the glass windows. It's of course better to pay a visit during weekdays in order to fully admire the cathedral

Love love this church. Miss those days/college days! Priests are very kind and faithful. Beautiful & clean building/surroundings. Solemn place to pray/reflect, God bless!

Poorly maintained Boardwalk and filthy Bayside. This boardwalk could be so much better. This should be a number one priority by city officials. Fix the decrepit boardwalk and clean up those beaches and Bayside area. Put the homeless and poor to work cleaning up and maintaining this potentially beautiful downtown tourist area. Other poor countries do a much better job of taking care of their civic environment Show some civic pride in Dumaguete!!!!!

Nature & Parks
Quezon Park is a serene and tranquil city park that features a playground, vintage cannons, and a charming gazebo. It's an ideal venue for hosting community events, attracting fewer crowds compared to the bustling Boulevard area. The park offers ample seating options with benches scattered around for visitors to relax and take in the scenery. Children can enjoy running around and playing in the safe playground while parents can indulge in some fast food at nearby Jollibee or McDonald's.
Brings out a different peaceful atmosphere since few people standby here than at the Boulevard area during the evening. Children usually stroll and play here too and there's plenty of benches to sit around.

Dangerous playground but my 6 year old loved it. Nice open space. Relaxed there for about an hour. I wouldn't recommend the playground for young kids. It's pretty clean and a nice escape.
Tom Bragg — Google review
It is park has so much potential but it needs a little maintenance. Two-man working for two days could easily make all the repairs. The small cost of replacing some chain, doing a little welding, and boating on some new wooden seats for the playground equipment would make all the difference for the children. There is a barangay hall right here, but i don't understand why they haven't gotten involved.

Relaxing park in downtown Dumaguete. Shaded park Lots of activities going on in different areas of the park. Fortunate to be able to watch practitioners of Arnis sparring with each other. Arnis is the national martial art sport of Philippines. It is also known as Eskrima and Kali. This sport actually emphasizes weapon based fighting which is done using knives, bladed weapons, sticks and various improvised weapons. It also includes hand to hand combat, grappling and weapon disarming methods. Very interesting. Christmas 🎄 tree in the park now in early December. Handicap ♿️ doable. Benches available. Recommended

Food tastes great. Their Pizzas are good. The atmosphere, you can’t go wrong. Relaxing to be dining viewing the Boulevard. Service is fair. A little slow to respond to once you are served. Overall a good place for a quick bite with a view.
Ryan Baldomero — Google review
Honestly, I wanted this place to be good. I tried this and another location in Dumaguete, and both were disappointments. In short, the one positive is the ambience -- just beautiful, unique decor and atmosphere (outside and inside). However, the service is below average at best, and the quality of the food is quite bad, to put it mildly. While in the restaurant, I thought Gordon Ramsey should do an episode of "Kitchen Nightmares" here. The menu is massive, but it seems like the cooks can't focus on making decent quality dishes because of the huge variety (pizza, burgers, Asian, breakfast, pork, chicken, etc.). There were also many items on the menu that weren't available (no beef or tortilla/Mexican dishes). Even when I ordered mashed potatoes as a side dish, the waitress informed me that mashed potatoes weren't available when she gave me my dish. This is one of the few restaurants in the Philippines where I haven't been able to finish the food because of the taste. To the manager and owner... I HIGHLY recommend a massive revamp of the menu, and put a lot more effort into the quality of your dishes (including better ingredients and fresh produce) instead of the quantity. I'd love to see this place improve, but I definitely won't be returning any time soon.

Amazing Cajun Chicken Pizza. Staff is friendly. If you need something just ring the bell and they will come rite over. If you like spicy I recommend Ann's Firey Chicken with Java rice. The shakes are bit pricey but very good. So I can see the price I guess. When we cant decided where to eat this is our go to place. The Air con is nice and cold so thats a big plus for me. If you dont like air con you can sit outside on the balcony with a wonderful view of the boardwalk. Being on the second floor you can see alot.

Simply ME (Flloyd Ubag) — Google review
Came here for an early dinner around 6pm. I had their Oriental noodles while my friend ordered the chicken pesto pasta. Turnaround time took between 15 to 20 minutes. The taste was okay, nothing spectacular or exciting but I like that there were several shrimps on my noodles. We were about to leave when a small roach came out of the hole of our table.

Great ambiance, and I love the resto’s aesthetic. Food is great and affordable. Easily one of my go-to’s when visiting Dumaguate. Would have loved to dine outside as the scenery of the boulevard is lovely from the balcony, but it was raining when I visited. Will definitely go back to try out their other items.
Blanch — Google review
I visited here on my first night in Dumaguette as I saw good reviews. I first ordered my food and noticed a cockroach on my table so I moved. Then I noticed heaps of roaches on the floor and wall. What sort of business are they running. The food wasn't too nice either.

Food was decently priced, and tasted just as decent. I had the salmon. It was nothing special. The ribs were pretty good though. Service was the worst thing about the place. It's possible that they were understaffed or maybe just busy. They had bells on the table to call their servers, but they would not even look at us. Overall, the place was fine.

Always my favorite place to go and bbq back ribs has always been my go-to dish. 3 years abroad and I immensely missed eating here! Nothing has changed and the flavor is still the same. So fun eating your lunch in front of the boulevard. The restaurant is located inside a historical place. Philippine mango is nothing like other mangoes that I have tasted. It’s still the best especially with the crepe and cream 🤤 toron the leche flan is sooo goooood!!! I can’t get enough! I can only pray then expand to UAE so I can keep eating my favorites! Great pizza. And that’s coming from a person that worked in the restaurant industry. I had a well done pepperoni pizza that was a solid 8/10! Service was a little off because by the time I finished the pizza only then did my wife receive her pasta.

We enjoyed eating in this establishment. The pizza is indeed in Italian style. As the owner said, he will never compromise the quality of his pizza. He used real tomatoes. I gave him 10/10. Customer service is excellent. Surely, we will return for another meal. See the attached photos and you will understand.
Atty. Jorge C. Biñas — Google review
Very expensive and small portions. They had closed the restaurant and only allowed us to sit in a small place after asking them to serve us. All the tables were help for a party that didn't show until late in the evening and they turned away other customers and kept the restaurant closed for hours. They could of seated and accommodated customers for earlier dinners and still accommodate the party for later, we will not return for these reasons.
Kip Stamper — Google review
Caesar salad was underwhelming. Would have also been better if they served it in a big bowl since they don’t serve it fully tossed with the dressing. It was a bit of a struggle to mix it in the platter where it was served. I feel like the chicken quesadillas were not even toasted altogether but were just assembled after the tortilla was heated. I took a bite and the cheese was still cold! Took a look inside and the cheese didn’t even seem to have melted. Server was nice enough to have the kitchen toast it for us though. I think it was overpriced for what we got.

Wonderful place here in Dumaguete best pizza hands down we recently moved from the US and have not been able to find a good pizza place. We'll that has changed since we found this wonderful place the pizza is amazing great crust and tomato sauce is so flavorful very Italian style. We unfortunately spent a rather annoyed evening here after coming with some optimism due to all the positive reviews. Staff was quite unheeding when we arrived so it took some time until they brought in some gawky garden chairs into the indoor area to seat us at a table. We ordered two pasta dishes, and were rather unhappy that it not only took >60min to prepare but also that the two dishes arrived 30min apart from each other which makes a date night awkward with one person completely finishing their pasta while the other one is hungrily watching for a long time. The tables around us were waiting for >20min just to get their drinks and looked pretty dismayed as well since very simple orders were taking that long. Not sure if we just visited during a bad day, or if there is a systemic overload in the kitchen, but considering the upper price range and setting, this evening did not meet our expectations management-/service-wise. That being said, the food itself was tasty, but we didn't dare to order desert due to the already spent time waiting.

Food is good here as well as service. I've always been a fan of their food since they started and my favorite was the Negrense fried rice. It's easily accessible from Silliman university campus so if you are a student, you can frequent this spot. It's been a long time since I came back so here are the pics I have in my archive just to share here. We got the hummus and their burger

I was really disappointed with the service. Service to me is most important. I ordered two appetizers and one was a pizza. The brought out our entree's first and pizza and calamari last. Totally incompetent. First and last time. The food was decent. The woman working the floor should not be there. BTW she said sorry for the misunderstanding. She should have said sorry I screwed your order up. BTW I told her twice I wanted the pizza and calamari first. Welcome to the php

The truffle pizza was amazing. The combination of cream cheese and truffle and the right thickness of the pizza dough was just perfect. The ravioli was the most authentic ravioli I had here in the Philippines. The tomato sauce, the cheese, the spinach...even the garlic tasted Italian garlic. And at such reasonable price... The service was fast. Service crew all polite and personable. The restaurant itself is cozy and intimate. This restaurant is a must when in Dumaguete.

Casablanca is indeed one of the best restaurants here in Dumaguete. One of our favorites! Food has always been superb and customer service, impeccable. We celebrated my husband’s birthday here recently and the staff had been very kind and helped me decorate the area. It was easy to coordinate with them because everyone was efficient and the team was organized. They even kept the surprise birthday cake and sang for the celebrant! Thank you, Ms. Glory and the entire team. We had a lovely time. Also, compliments to the chef for the scrumptious dinner.

I went there at around 10:45 in the morning and it was perfect because it's not so busy during those hours. I got some English breakfast and man I'm telling you it was really really good. It has some beans on it, bacon, mushroom, 2 eggs, sausage, bread, and free coffee along with it. Then I got creme brulee for dessert which is so crunchy on the top and the right level of sweetness plus it melts in the mouth perfectly. The people working were so nice they're checking up on me from time to time asking if there's anything else they can do for me which I appreciate. If you go there in the morning I would highly advice to sit outside because eating with the beautiful sight of the sea is just way too relaxing. If you want somewhere quiet you can also eat inside. Oh they also have a smoking area in there if you are fun of smoking. Overall, the experience was 9.5 out of 10.

The area is right along the boulevard. Easily accessible from lee plaza, port, and the cathedral. Great food choices. Ordered their fish and chips, tuna steak, fish sinigang, and hunter's platter. They're a bit pricey, but the taste and service make up for it. The staff was also really accommodating. The place is good for families and introverts (no other diners were there when we dined in 😆🙌). They have outdoor seating as well. They respond within a few hrs in their messenger and cell numbers. Would love to dine here again next time!

I saw many nice reviews and wanted to give Casablanca a try. The service was pretty good and friendly, prices are reasonable for western food, and I like the place as a whole. The mushroom risotto, the schnitzel and the seared tuna were pretty good. We also ordered the garden salad but that was drenched in sauce and not appetizing at all. Plus the leaves weren't fresh. After I left the restaurant, I started to feel nauseous, which made me worried and concerned that food isn't as fresh as I thought. All in all, the meal was ok, good for a date

We got lucky when we got our table at the peak of lunch time. Their serving sizes are pretty decent. I was surprised to learn that their food is so affordable. The name and building structure looks intimidating and expensive, but they're actually not! Tasty food indeed! I will definitely go back here!

Dumaguete seems to be proud of this brand. They have several branches and serve several signature dishes. The Bistro is located along the boulevard which proudly shows the sea waters of Dumaguete. The place seems to be a big house in its previous life, the floors are beautiful and even the staircase is made of the same wood. Although the tables are close to each other, there is enough room to move between the tables. The place was full when we got there, and as tables become empty, new customers come in. The waiters weave around the tables to bring the ordered dishes to the customers. We ordered tapas and each one was delicious.

Lovely Bistro in a great location with super service. Food is tasty, freshly made and great value for money. Superb food. I was expecting to get a bill of more than 2k thinking about Manila prices but suprisingly the cost of food in Dumaguete is lower 🤗 paid less than 1500 for an appetizer, 3 full meal and a slice of cake. Service wise our food came all at once, which is great. No awkward moment of staring at someone's food while waiting for yours. Nice to start eating all the same time. Dont trust my photos 🤣 im not good at taking food pics, they look way better and bigger in person

Had our late lunch here upon arrival at Dumaguete. The food is really good and serving is adequate. The atmosphere inside is quite rustic. One thing we don't like is the level of service that their staff provides. At one point, we tried to order again but was advised by one of the waiters that they can't take our order as we have an assigned waiter and have to wait for that waiter. We opted to ask to for the bill instead.

Very pleasantly surprised. Came here for brunch and ended up lingering for four hours, the terrace is lovely, shaded well, with ceiling fans, looking out over the palm trees and sea. Road is not at all as distracting as I thought it would be. Spanish omelette was decent, though could have done with a bit more variety in the filling. Coffee was ok. The two signature patisserie were pretty good, not too sweet, bit too buttery for my taste, but with fine flavour and particularly lovely texture, bit chewy in a very satisfying way. All very reasonably priced.
Richard Smittenaar — Google review
The food was average except for the 2 cakes I ordered. The customer service was not great, seeing there were so many of waiters. Cakes were being left unattended on the counters to be served. Very historical building and the spot on the Boulevard was stunning.

Nice place to visit when you are in Dumaguete. The interiors are very cozy, like a classic family home turned restaurant. I ordered the Sopa de Lentejas. It is a single serving soup but very hearty. I needed something light but substantial for dinner and this was the perfect choice. Of course, I also tried the Sans Rival. I only gave 3 stars for service because I felt at times that the servers are challenging to call. I was seated at the room, not the main hall. Servers would come through the door and into a small bussing station with their backs to the customers. Perhaps rethink the layout of the space so when servers use the bussing station or go through this space, they will be facing the customers seated in the room.

We ordered a variety of dishes for our party, including the bistro signature tapax mix, grilled malasugi, grilled barbeque spare ribs, and some other main dish. We also ordered mango mouse torte as dessert, and tropical fruit cooler as drinks. All of the food was delicious, and the portions were generous. I especially enjoyed the tapax mix, which was a unique and flavorful dish. The mango mouse torte was also delicious, and it was the perfect way to end our meal. In addition to the great food, we also enjoyed the excellent service at Sans Rival Bistro. Our server was attentive and friendly, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. He also took the time to answer our questions about the menu and the restaurant. We exclusively dined in a room on the second floor good for 10 persons. It was the perfect place to celebrate my despidida party. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at Sans Rival Bistro. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in a cozy and intimate setting.

Good dessert. We had their Mini Gateau Sansrival and it's enough to feed 6-7 people. Affordable and delicious. As for the coffee, not good.

Filipino restaurant
Jo's Chicken Inato is a popular filipino restaurant in Dumaguete City that serves both barbecue and Asian food. The restaurant has been consistently good over the years, but it can use an improvement in its appearance and space.
Great food, fast service!

Food is great as usual but can't help but notice how the restaurant seems a little bit in need of maintenance and upkeep. Can't say my experience dining at the main branch was as great as a few years back. With a bit of improvement on the ambience and space, the dining experience could drastically improve.

Recommended by a local so I had to try. Nice place to grab lunch on the way to Silliman University. Of course I ordered the Chicken Inato and also the Adobong Kangkong. I always have vegetables every meal. There's a bit of wait even though there were a few customers about 15-20 minutes.

It’s a Filipino restaurant famous for their chicken bbq which I must say it’s tender and juicy, perfectly cooked. They have varieties of dishes which includes vegetables as well. Fast service and friendly staff. So if you’re into bbq, this is the must-to-go place. I really love their chicken, hope it stays that way.

I went here for the chicken inafo. Very disappointing.. the grilled chicken is so dry, hard and chewy it tastes bland like they didn’t marinate the the chicken, condiments isn’t exceptional as well. They serve 2 cults of rice but I don’t eat much rice so I had to return one cup as it’s not good to waste food. Also oredered adobong kangkong- also bland. Store ambience needs improvement in terms of lighting ventilation and cleanliness.. service is so-so what I don’t like was they were mopping the floor using commercial chlorine while we were eating! So the pungent scent of chlorine mixes with what we were eating.

There are several locations in and around Dumaguete available for this restaurant. This particular one is the location we have dined at the most. It's been consistently good and the meal options are reasonably priced. There is a fair amount of parking available in front of the businesses across the street. One thing that makes the dining experience different is this is a traditional sit down restaurant with table service but you order your food and pay at a kiosk near the entrance. Not that unusual when eating fast food but this isn't that type of restaurant. I still recommend giving Jo's a try especially if you are in the mood for delicious grilled chicken.

I love their Chicken Inato, it's one of my favorite restaurants who prepare this dish. We had pancit, stuffed squid, lumpiang shanghai and rice. Just Filipino favorites that everyone love. My mouth is watering while writing this because nothing beats a home-style cooking enjoyed with the family. I love the ambiance of this place beside the sea. They have other branches all over Dumaguete so you won't be able to miss to visit and eat at their restaurant whenever you're in Dumaguete. My family and I specifically enjoy the one in Sibulan beside the sea. It's an open air dining, with the fresh breeze of the sea, more spacious and more parking spots. It's a bit far from the city but it's always worth it to visit here for Lunch or Dinner. Pay them a visit the next time you are in Negros Oriental.
