Saba
Saba, a Caribbean island in the Lesser Antilles chain, is a special municipality of the Netherlands. Measuring just 13 square kilometers, it consists essentially of the top of the dormant Mount Scenery volcano. Its surrounding Saba Marine Park, a renowned dive site, is home to coral formations, dolphins, sharks and turtles. There are also offshore seamounts, or underwater mountains created by volcanic activity.

Mt Scenery is a 887m dormant volcano located in Saba, which is the highest point in the Kingdom of Netherlands. It offers a hiking trail to its summit through elfin forest (cloud forest) that houses 200-year-old mountain mahogany trees covered in orchids, bromeliads and other epiphytes.
Amazing views and worth the hike. It takes aprox. 90 mins to reach the summit including resting. You can skip the first 100 steps if you prepared in advance by starting near the eco lodge restaurant.
The hike is challenging, so bring enough water and sunscreen and enjoy when you reach the top. There are resting booths 1/4 of the hike and there are 3 scenic view points.

We did the hike starting at Sandy Cruz, through the Elfin forest, and ending at the Mount Scenery Trailhead in Windwardside. (made it in time for happy hour at Tropics too!) This is such a great hike since most of it is under the cover of trees so not too hot. If you're doing the Elfin forest make sure to go in the dry season, even still when we went it was muddy! There were a few very slippery spots where it would be easy to fall. Definitely do this hike with a buddy or group. The forest itself was AMAZING. So beautiful, tranquil and lush! The portion of the hike on Sandy Cruz trail has amazing views. There are a few spots that could use more trail markers, especially at the intersection of Elfin Forest and Mount Scenery trail, so maybe hike with a map or study the directions before you go.
Steep trail and worth it. The views are spectacular. With clouds and mist, just waiting for King Kong to show up.
The highest peak of Saba and also the highest peak in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Great views when the clouds have disappeared, but the hike is intense, especially when you consider that you must walk are the stairs down to. You can also visit the site near the communication tower, but that's not the peak.
Say hi to the chicken when you're almost at the pinnacle :)
What a great hike. A bit tough but if you take your time you can make it all the way up. It's worth the epic view, like being on top of the world.

Ladder Bay on Saba is home to the historical monument known as The Ladder. This flight of steps was the only way to access the island's villages before the construction of Fort Bay Harbour. Hikers can now descend The Ladder and enjoy stunning scenery, with a former customs house offering excellent views of the sea and shore. The old steps are a great hike, once serving as one of the main access ways to the island, and also offer opportunities for diving in its waters.

Prior to the building of the Fort Bay Harbour, access to Saba was by way of this flight of steps up the cliffs of Ladder Bay. Ships would anchor offshore and all cargo had to be carried by foot up the nearly vertical stairway to the village of The Bottom. The stone masonry steps were the only way to get from the sea to the island villages for many years. Now hikers can descend The Ladder to the water, enjoying magnificent scenery along the way. A former customs house two-thirds of the way down is an excellent lookout point to enjoy the beautiful views of the sea and shore.

I had a three course meal here, and everything but the salad was well prepared (the vegetables don't seem to be very fresh anywhere on this island). But the portions were absurdly small. I realize that not everyplace is all-you-can-eat, but I had to go somewhere else and eat again immediately after leaving. Also, while the servers were attentive, they were not knowledgeable. One should expect better for the price.

This restaurant was open late, so i went there. It was not busy, gentleman came to ask if i wanted a drink and brought me the menu.
I ordered rib eye steak. It was delicious. The service was top.
Wanted to come back the next day but a young lady told me that they are closed on Tuesdays.

For a very small island, these folks sure know how to cook. The breakfasts were delicious, lots of choice, and the fruit and juices were amazing. Only had dinner there once, but it was also amazing. Hats off to these folks, hope to be back again some day.

The cafe had a cool pool area and a nice ambience. We asked for a rumtasting and they were super friendly and let us taste some of their rums.
The food we ordered was a constrast to the Service and Atmosphere. The taste was simple, the bread was dry and the portions were scarce. You can get better food on the island for fairer prices. I can not recommend their kitchen, but for some drinks it is a great place.

Disappointed on many levels. Had a table for 6 people this morning. We are not new to Saba. Service was atrocious. I have been coming to Saba for almost 25 years after living here AND staying at the property here many times. We were with local people who are very influential on Saba. The owner never checked on us nor did he instruct staff to do better. Working toward mediocrity it seems.
A nice restaurant and at wednesday a nice movie. The food was good and the staff was kind. And they have nice mocktails.

Long Haul Grill is an ideal spot to unwind after a dive or exam. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a charming owner who adds to the welcoming atmosphere. It has the feel of a traditional neighborhood pub but with a more sophisticated interior design. Engage in a lively game of cards against humanity and stay until closing time. Despite being busy, the staff goes above and beyond to accommodate larger groups, although there may be some wait time for pizzas.
The Long Haul Grill is one of the restaurants on the main street in Windwardside, Saba. The food is excellent and the service is quick and friendly. My wife and I ate there twice during our stay. The second time, we had a pizza, which was delicious, and we recommend it. You can eat either indoors or on their outdoor patio. The only drawback is that the vehicles going by on the road can make it seem noisy.

Depending on the night, this is the biggest party crowd on Windward Side. They pour a mean drink and the food was good. We had a fun time here.

Long Haul's is the perfect place to go post dive or post exam. The atmosphere is friendly, the owner is awesome. It feels like an old school corner pub, but with a nicer indoor asthetic. Go for a game of cards against humanity and stay until last call.

Awesome place to eat. It's got a very friendly staff, indoor and outdoor eating areas, and also does themed night and special events. The food is delicious and their chef is really good at putting new spins on old favorites. Their drinks are also wonderful! Pricing is very competitive for Saba.

The Hideaway is a nice place for a casual lunch or dinner with simple good fresh food, the ambiance is festive and fun . Be prepared to wait for your food , the place is popular and so the kitchen can be overwhelmed. The sweet potatoe fries are the best ever
