Museums
Hokkaido Museum is a modern museum in Sapporo that offers exhibits on local history, nature, and Ainu culture. Visitors can enjoy multilingual audio guides as they explore the museum's diverse offerings. Additionally, sports enthusiasts may want to visit the Sapporo Dome, home to the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters baseball team and Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo football club.
This is a wonderful museum, would recommend to anyone visiting Hokkaido. The open air museum is also worth a visit. Even with the cold, it was very interesting and the autumn leaves made for a beautiful visit.

Very good museum, both historical and natural contents about Hokkaido is displaying.

Hokkaido museum is a small place but most of the exhibits are catered to Japanese speaking people. The displays have information in mostly Japanese. There are some laminated information sheets in various languages but it is in about 30% of the exhibits only. If I didn’t have my Japanese speaking son with me, it would have been an absolutely waste of my time and money. Sure, maybe this museum is only for the Japanese people and they are not interested in foreigners visiting / that is the impression I got.
Grace Ng — Google review
Fantastic museum that taught from thousands of years ago right through to the development of Hokkaido and the Ainu to modern day. This was very English friendly and even though we couldn't read some plaque my partner and I still got a lot out of it.
Dan Charlton — Google review
The museum was really cool. There are some english translations of the texts but not everything is translated.
Brace Cooper — Google review
Beautiful place in winter as the snow is clean and untouched 😁 Since the bus comes out twice per hour, one can kill time by playing the snow while waiting 😃 Exhibit are interesting with sufficient English translations. There's a cafe and souvenir shop at the entrance.

I wish I had the time to go into the bug section. They had an incredible display but because i was with a group, i couldn't wait in line to go in. I recommend to go there first upon arrival. Beautiful place and rich collection of various historical items. Well put together.

Learnt a lot about the history of Hokkaido from the wildlife to it's landscape and people. Some of the displays were interactive and we were allowed to touch and feel them. For me there was a lot to see. I also downloaded their app which was also helpful! I could spend the whole day here.
Bitamin C — Google review
A fun indoor outing to keep warm from all the snow! We spent about 1.5-2 hours here and took the train from Sapporo station then a bus. It was not difficult to navigate using google maps.

Nature & Parks
Nopporo Forest Park is a vast and tranquil wooded area offering a variety of activities for nature enthusiasts. The park features walking trails that are also suitable for winter snowshoeing, making it an ideal destination year-round. Birdwatching is a popular pastime here, with the park's diverse habitats attracting a wide range of bird species.
Great park, excellent trails to walk around just outside of the city. Visited in late February and got around easily birding with no show shoes or skis (although either would have been better). 15 minute walk from Shinrin-Kōen station taking it slow to avoid slipping on the sidewalks.
McKenzie Mudge — Google review
I only spent 30 minutes and entered through the west gate. I think I must've missed the best parts, I felt it was pretty boring, but I still got some nice pictures. There is definitely a really nice variety of tree species here and that makes it interesting.

More than 2000 hectares. Huge park.

I really enjoy my visits to this park because of the Sauron Tower (Centennial Memorial of Hokkaido foundation) and also the beautiful forest around.

+I think this is a hidden gem place where only the locals visit. It's a massive nature park with several entrance points. Great way to take a break from Sapporo's big city vibes! +There is a parking lot by each entrance point. +Restrooms are right by the parking lot. No restrooms inside the park. +Dogs are not allowed to enter the park.
Tina Hwang — Google review
Nothing to see. Just trees all around. No place to sit and have a meal. If your purpose is to visit the museum then that's okay.

It's a huuuuuuuuuuuge park. Great park to exercise but not much to see or enjoy. Recently they are demolishing the monument so... not recommend to go If you are looking for somewhere pretty

A big scale park with various trail courses. Worth visiting the park as well as the museum nearby showing the history of Hokkaido. Dogs are not allowed which was a bit disappointing to my family.

10 - 15 minutes walk from Shinrin Koen(森林公園)station. Went there to do meditation in the mid February. It was - 2 degree Celsius but felt really good to seat on the snow.

Absolutely beautiful park. From the top of the driveway their are views all the way to Sapporo on a clear day. The park itself is a great place for picnics, hikes and bird watching. Accessible by bus from Shin-Sapporo by bus or from Shin-rin Koen station by foot. Not only nature but there is also the "Historic village" and museum.

(Translated by Google) I have never bought raw meat, but all the processed products are delicious, especially the sausage with allium ochotense. The one and only one that is not sold anywhere else. And bacon. It's a bit different from the one on the market. If you eat here, you may need to be careful because it will not be enough on the market. Wild plants are also sold in spring, depending on the timing and time of year. Bracken, bracken, butterbur, etc. I'm a person who goes to the mountains, so I don't buy it, but it may be a good deal because I can buy it safely without going into the mountains or going to the cliffs. (Translated by Google) I visited on a lightly rainy Sunday afternoon to learn about the marketing of urban tourist farms. They seem to make a living by raising livestock, but at vegetable stands, they have a wide variety of vegetables and fruits purchased from Honshu, and I felt that they have a lot of power when it comes to purchasing. Of course, the main meat products are also abundant, and the charcoal-grilled sausage has a very appetizing aroma. You can even ride a pony outdoors, and the facility satisfies most of your needs for spending a weekend with your family while interacting with nature. For food and beverages, there is a kitchen car, so there is ample space available, and income can be expected from there. With such a wide variety of products, your wallet will definitely be loosened. EBRI is a food marketplace located near Nopporo station in Ebetsu. It used to be a brick factory, and the red brick appearance adds to its charm. The marketplace offers groceries and prepared dishes such as pizza and desserts. Visitors can also find a general store and greengrocer with cheap vegetables, processed marine products, seasonings, canned foods, etc.

It seems that a restaurant such as ramen and pizza, a general store, and a greengrocer have recently opened, and the vegetables of the feature were cheap. There were processed marine products, seasonings, canned foods, etc., and it seemed to be a substitute for supermarkets, so it was crowded. In the back, there were some products that were organic and additive-free, and there were new ones. The appearance of the red brick is nice. The parking lot is large and I think it's easy to stop by. Even though it's winter, there's a wide variety of vegetables available and you can buy them at relatively low prices, so I think it's worth stopping by for that alone. It's fun to look at the variety of carefully selected ingredients, but it's a bit pricey for everyday use, so I wonder if it's good for a small meal or as a souvenir? That's what I think. There were some places where the bakeries brought in the products they had made and sold them, and they looked delicious, but I wish they had been packaged individually or wrapped in film so I could buy them with confidence.
