Sirloin Steak served on sizzling iron plate. Full set with rice (free refill), miso soup, salad, appetizers, dessert & one drink. Some of the sets are sold out at the beginning dinner time. There're only a few staff members who served on the restaurant, so that you're waiting for them to order something. I ordered a refill rice, but the waitress/waiter is very busy, so I finally waited for a few minutes to get a rice, but the beef is already cool down.

When you are touring Kyushu, you have to visit the beautiful Takachiho Gouge. And the trip will not be complete without tasting the famed Miyazaki beef at Nagomi. And it was sublime. Not to mention that the prices are much more reasonable here compared to the yakiniku restaurants in Tokyo.

Had the sirloin 200g. Delicious. Only criticism is the little hotplate/stone loses heat very quickly meaning you have to repeat requests for replacements to cook your steak. Unlimited rice refills for certain sets!

Tourist friendly. Write your name and number of guests down. Wait until a waiter/waitress brings you to your table. You can choose from a set menu or from ala carte. Beef (whatever your choice of cuts) arrives in a hot plate rare and you do the rest of the cooking in the hot stone provided. Good beef 👍🏻

Love the amazing steak here that's done so amazingly well. We had different cuts, and they were served with delicious side dishes. The meat came cooked to rare, but you can use the hot stone provided to cook it to the doneness of your liking.

It's a medium sized, well ran restaurant. Whatever you order, you will not be disappointed. That said, do try the Miyazaki Wagyu 😋, goes well with ginger ale.

If you want to try the highest end melt in your mouth marbled beef from the area this is a place to do it. I went for lunch and did not have much space for dinner afterwards. We had the do-it-yourself BBQ which was lovely as you can watch the fat melt in front of your eyes while the beef gets to the perfect temperature.

Excellent beef but the decor is austere and it is like eating in a family restaurant. Also because the beef is so good it really needs to be eaten while drinking red wine, which sadly is not available. There is limited seating so best to book in advance. But worth going for the beef.

Excellent beef. We came for lunch and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a seat at one of the BBQ. As a table we ordered steak and some to BBQ, so got to try a bit of everything. Have to say that it was all excellent, and I would definitely come back if I was in the area. Staff is very friendly, and speaks some English as well, which is helpful for tourists. Menu is in English too.

Beef taste really good omg! Must try the high class beef! But even the lower class beef taste better than elsewhere nearby. Nice! Better book it in prior, they've got only 6 tables 4 ppl each in this restaurant with charcoal grill.

Have the somen and rainbow trout set! So much fun catching the somen when it flows down the bamboo. Don’t worry if you miss them as the staff have a basket at the end to catch the noodles for you!

Their cold soba was refreshing after the long trek. However, I felt the fish was a tad salty. The warm sake went well with the food and it appeared that they diluted it with water.

The fish was still raw inside but taste is ok. Must try ‘’nagashi somen’’, interesting experience.

We had the Miyazaki wagyu beef and river trout (yamame) set meals and it was delicious. The service was excellent as well. The restaurant is quite easy to find as it is located at the junction to the entrance of Takachiho Gorge, with public parking next door.

Patronised on a weekday as lunch is included in the tour. It was served in a set menu - grilled fish (yamame) set, costs ¥1850. The food was average, very generous portion, and so very filling.

Came for a late lunch at 2pm and place was empty as one could expect. Service was pretty poor which matched the quality of the food. Ordered the chicken Nanba set 1300 yen and Nanba set with fish 1700 yen and the quality and quantity was poor as well. The chicken was a oily poorly fried dish (tasted ok just so oily) Size was small for the amount, we ended up leaving to eat again.

It’s touristy, so manage your expectations accordingly. It was fun trying to catch the noodles as it flows along the bamboo ‘stream’. It probably comes out in 3 batches per order. So meaning each person gets about 3 tries to pick your noodles. The remaining / ‘uncaught’ noodles will be brought to you in a separate basket. I went around 2pm+ and had to wait for about 15 mins as the restaurant was busy. You can order the noodles as is (not enough for a meal) but they do come along in a set meal with a choice of vegetables (steamed pumpkin, konnyaku, rice ball, salad, tofu etc) or grilled fish (very salty). We also tried the beef udon and it was tasty.

Soba is good! Get the set which comes with appetiser, veg tempura, cold or hot soba of your choice and inari sushi for 1500yen. Inari sushi was the highlight for me~ super good! Can skip the beef in my opinion~

This place is popular for a reason with a steady stream of customers throughout the afternoon. Had the standard set and it came with an appetiser, good helping of sides while we waited for the main soba and tempura dishes. Worth checking out if you're visiting the nearby gorge or Amaterasu Railway!

they are not just another soba restaurant. they are brilliant with how they use soba. an earthy soba-salt with their tempura, a mild soba jelly for dessert…everything was delicious.

What a treat! Great local food, local tea. The staff are so kind and friendly. Everything is refined in this nice, delicate Japanese way - and yet simple. Will definitely go back. :)

Amazing takachiho beef! The special meat set is only 2600 yen, there’s an even cheaper set. As a foreign tourist I had no problems getting a table and ordering (I just know a few Japanese words). The shop lady was super nice!

When we arrive the restaurant at night and we see there's plenty of table are empty, so we politely use Japanese to ask the old lady staff is there any table for two. However, the old lady just simply shout 'No!' and then did not have a word more to let us know what's the situation. I strongly not recommend this restaurant to foreign tourist. This will ruin your day.

Our group of four entered the restaurant at 6pm on a Tuesday and my Caucasian husband (who spoke Japanese) was told there was no room, even though it was rather empty. I would not recommend this to tourists (even if you speak Japanese), as it was less than friendly.
