St. Kitts and Nevis

Saint Kitts and Nevis is a dual-island nation situated between the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. It's known for cloud-shrouded mountains and beaches. Many of its former sugar plantations are now inns or atmospheric ruins. The larger of the 2 islands, Saint Kitts, is dominated by the dormant Mount Liamuiga volcano, home to a crater lake, green vervet monkeys and rainforest crisscrossed with hiking trails.

Pinneys Beach

Mentioned on
Beach
Pinney's Beach is a picturesque shoreline located along the western coast, spanning three miles of beautiful tan sand that offers excellent snorkeling opportunities. The northern end boasts the Four Seasons Resort and several beach bars, while quieter areas can be found elsewhere. On Sundays, it tends to get crowded. Visitors can take a ferry and taxi to reach the beach for a small fee per person each way. Sunnies provides food and beach chairs are available for rent.
Crystal clear water, rocks nearby to snorkel at that some found a libe seastar, octopus, etc. Tons of fish at your feet to watch swim around. Also had non-broken seashells all over to dig up and find.
KC McGuire — Google review
Really beautiful beach! We spent a few hours here as we had a boat tour around the island! The water is crystal clear and it was really nice to relax and enjoy the weather while looking at all the good scenery around!
Daniel Duran — Google review
Dark, smooth, clean sand. Great for swimming.
Oscar Luna — Google review
This place is totally unreal! I'm impressed by most beaches in this place, and I basically lost my mind when I first got to this beach. The sand is so soft and the water is a beautiful turquoise blue. You can see tiny fish swimming around and can follow them if you're quiet. Lovely lovely place.
William Setiawan — Google review
Visited while on a cruise. Took the ferry over and a taxi to Pinney's Beach. 3-5 dollars per person each way for the taxi. Beach chair can be rented and food at Sunnies. The rocks in front of the Four Seasons was a great place to snorkel and see tons of wildlife. We saw stingrays, squid, octopus, lobster, tons of reef fish and no trash.
Gregory Porter (DHHS) — Google review
Great place to spend the day at the beach.

I spent a week in Nevis because of a wedding. It felt like a year! No good restaurants, nothing historic except one tiny museum. Beaches are pretty, but so are they many other more entertaining places. Try Bermuda or even St. Kitts. You will be bored unless you just want to lay on the beach all day and sleep all night.
Lauren Myers — Google review
Great place for the ambiance and food, but the beach itself seems to have been ruined by the hurricane and the four seasons construction down the way. Tons of shells and rocks until about 20 feet off shore.
Franklin M — Google review
Great beach on the island of Nevis (Caribbean). Worth a water taxi over if you are staying at St. Kitts.

Pinney's Beach is the hot spot in Nevis. The sea, the bars, the music, the food, the vibes. What more can you ask for?

Nevis Peak

Outdoor Activities
Nevis Peak is a magnificent volcanic mountain located on the small Caribbean island of Nevis, which is also the sister island to St. Kitts. This lush peak boasts challenging trails that lead to its summit craters, making it a must-visit landmark for adventurous travelers. Towering at an impressive 3232 ft., Nevis Peak offers great hiking opportunities with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Nevis peak is still an active volcano, though there are no recorded eruptions. The top is often covered by clouds which make the trail wet, humid, and slippery.

Low key great value relaxing and casual but fun and comfortable, almost camp-like vacation with family and friends. Everyone was nice, taking it easy, and very central to everything you want to do and visit on Nevis.

Well I was there it was very quiet sometimes the only people on the beach. At breakfast, lunch and dinner the food was very nice and well cooked. Bit noisy from the lorrires going past from the near by road. A little bit run down. Good snorkeling. Our room had a good view of the sea, always kept very clean.

Visited 2019. Place needs major updating, a few Beach chairs broken, staff were smug and meals were expensive—forget about asking for an extra pat of butter or more syrup at breakfast. Spotty internet; office staff did not know how to confirm flight and print boarding pass. Forget purchasing sunscreen or whatnots —items look dusty and expired. Restaurant / bar is a sad place though initially feels quaint then you realize the female staff are smug, slow and really don’t like you. At night, bar is populated by locals and you don’t feel welcome. Window lock was broken in cottage-finally fixed day 3. Room safe missing; porch screens falling out. This place has so much potential because of location and nice beach. When speaking to owner, he has so many excuses. Forget asking for a clean beach towel—1 per guest per week; maid give u stink eye if you press her.

Oualie Beach Resort was the best place for our group of 45 people (private pilots) during our travels through a number of Caribbean Islands. We felt at home, the location was superb, on the Beach, very friendly and casual athmosphere just as we like it ! the Oualie Beach is the only hotel we will be staying at on our next visit ! Thank you Faith !!! on behalf of the entire group, they ALL loved the experience !.

A family member stayed here, which I found to be a quaint and idyllic out of the way spot. Perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the larger hotels on the island. The staff were extremely welcoming, polite, knowledgeable, and engaging when exercising their duties. Although I was a visitor who visited on several occasions and not a guest, this is definitely a wonderful place to stay.

September 2022 Trip My husband is a Nevian therefore I was excited to visit his homeland. We visited for our wedding Anniversary. The location was perfect, close to every where we wanted to go. However I was truly disappointed with the facility, it's badly in need of a MAJOR update. The refrigerator was rusting, toilet seat was falling off the furniture needs to go, my sheets weren't nice and soft, they were coarse to the touch, Really out dated. However the service was excellent all around. We met some beautiful people there. The food was okay, but I wished they had more variety of local dishes . I would returned but would have to have proof of the upgrade which is well over due.
Stacy Morgan — Google review
We and another couple stayed at the Oualie Resort over Thanksgiving 2022. The resort is best described as shabby. Our toilet leaked and was falling apart. Our neighbors couldn't get in their cottage since the lock battery died and no one had a master key. Our friends had a non-functioning safe. Overall the resort needs major renovation. We found the food in the restaurant was often uneatable. We stopped eating there and went to the many fine nearby. The beach was nice however.
Steven Larsen — Google review
Lovely hotel. The rooms are a great size, very spacious. I was on the 2nd floor so the view was great. My issue was with service. We checked in and was not provided with a map so i had issues finding my room. I had to go back to the front desk. The roads at the hotel is in need of paving. It was a rainy day and the roads were a muddy mess to travel with bags. The other issue i had was with wifi, we were not provided with the passwords, i attempted to call front desk multiple times and could not get an answer in the morning. My PET PEEVE was the shower. It was clearly not cleaned. There was hair in the shower and dried body wash on the walls. The little things go a long way and these small details made a difference to my stay. I will visit again because of the location.
Kizzurn Grant — Google review
We visited for NYE dinner. They had live music, the vibe was very acceptable. The lobster was tasty if not freshly caught and the beef was juicy and delicious. The food was certainly worth a second visit. The service was very good, Tasha was a great waitress.
Erania Tobin — Google review
What a quaint and pleasant stay I had. Listen folks, this is not a 5 star hotel, not even sure why it's called a resort. But you will get a 5 star stay. The rooms are large, comes with a very high top bed, and a couch, closet and safe. You even have a veranda with a hammock. I had the 1 room queen bed. It's very clean, AC works great, and water pressure is good. Cleaning is daily, and they don't skip. BTW tip your cleaning ladies, they do a wonderful job. The grounds are OK, could use more lights at night, because the back section is very dimly lit. I felt like the compound needs to be more secure as its right on the main road. Or they need to have security patrolling. I had an issue with my windows as some did not close well. After some clothes pins to secure the blinds, I was ok. I had only 1 encounter with the restaurant, breakfast. The chef does not know how to make a breakfast steak, lol it was steamed, overly seasoned, and cooked through. But the coffee was good, and strong. The staff are all pleasant, from front desk to grounds keepers, and restaurant. Oh the beach. Best beach in my opinion on the Island. Its a free beach, so expect non hotel dwellers to stop by. The water is very calm, and plenty of beach chairs and shading available. Ask for beach towels if none is in your room. The hotel is just feet away from the water taxi depot. I wish they had a pick-up and drop off service for guests. You can take a chance and just walk with your luggage, or get a taxi. But it's a 2mins drive. Will defintly return as I had such a wonderful 1 week stay there.

Cottle Church is a small Anglican church situated north of Charlestown, constructed in 1824 by John Cottle, who was the President of Nevis and owned a plantation at the time. Its purpose was to serve as a place for whites and slaves to worship together, but due to slavery laws at that time, it was never consecrated and eventually abandoned after John Cottle's death.
Good piece of history. Well worth a visit.

A church rescued and restored (sympathetically) restored. Constructed for first generation slaves was atmospheric. Boards explaining it were very good. Some stones of those buried there would have been nice - those buried their must be related to the existing islanders.

The restaurant features an extensive wine list, as well as a cellar full of interesting wines. The food at Yachtsman Grill is excellent and the service is always top notch.
Great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and sunsets. You could spend the day here. There’s enough variety in the meals that it’s worth coming at least few times in a week. Excellent staff and management.

Had a great lunch at Yachtsman today. Nice outdoor but covered seating with ocean views. Had a tasty Tuna Poke (not a bowl w/ greens and rice like I expected) and a great quinoa Salad. Others had the Mahi sandwich, grouper sandwich and fresh catch snapper meal. Oh and a pepperoni pizza. Everything was great, highly recommend.

It is a great choice for Indian food. It has cool ac inside dining and a spacious outdoor dining option. The servers were friendly and attentive and most importantly the food was delicious. Always a delicious meal whenever I'm on that island. The food is constant, staff is very pleasant. We had dinner there, but I came back for lunch. Loved everything I ordered. But Indian Summer is very expensive. You can easily spend $100 on just 2-3 small dishes. So be careful when you see those EC numbers. Apart from that, it's a small splurge.

While on a three week tour of the Caribbean, this was hands down our favorite meal of the entire trip! This little gem of a restaurant pairs a beautiful ambiance with delicious food. We were grateful for the air conditioning, but they also have patio seating. We ordered three appetizers, three entrees and dessert. It was way too much food for the three of us but everything was so delicious that we just went for it. Things we most enjoyed: the variety of options, richness of flavors, layered spices, and overall feel of the restaurant. Our ten year old, who enjoys Indian food loved it as well! We had an amazing dinner at Indian Summer. If you’re thinking about trying it, don’t hesitate! It’s incredibly delicious!

We really enjoyed our dinner here during our trip to Nevis. The Corn Tikki and Tamarind Chicken were our favorite dishes of the night. The prices were fair and it was some of the best Indian food we've had!
Abigail Lunsford — Google review
Had a lunch there while on day trip to Nevis. All though one of the co-owners came out and took my order and had a great chat with me. Got my drink on time. But never came back to ask if i needed anything else. I was sitting on patio and had to go in to order more Naan. Only three tables were occupied at that time so was not busy either. Restaurants ambience is good. But have to provide that service. Charges 10% gratuity on top of bill 💵 Food was good but service lost me.

Absolutely the best Indian food ever! Indian Summer is one of our famillies favorite restaurants on Nevis. The food and the service is absolutely amazing. We have both dined in at the restaurant and ordered takeout. We typically order takeout once we arrive at our home on Nevis for the first night, and then go there many times during our stay, We love the Butter Chicken, Chicken Tika, Coconut Shrimp, and Garlic Cheese Naan.

OMG! I love Indian food and have tasted the best all around the world: Mumbai, London, New York, San Francisco, LA, Miami. So I can safely say this place has close to if not the best Indian food anywhere. Huge menu, fabulous flavor, very traditional, great service. Beyond 5 stars. Wow!

This review is for the newer St Kitts location: Now the standard to which I will measure any other Indian restaurant I go to. Price is reasonable and great vibe. Can view sunset over hills and golf course.

Top dining experience on island, so far. The setting is magical; seaside tables, white crisp lines, gorgeous original art and an incredible menu. Service is beyond amazing, thanks for Renita. She is the consummate professional but also nurturing and sweet. . I ordered a lobster sandwich served on fresh sourdough. It was so tasty. The house made cole slaw was so unique. It was flavored with cinnamon and coconut. Topping off the meal were hand cut fries, heavenly.

Welcoming staff, a stunning sunset view, and mouthwatering Ribs make it exceptional. The white decor and open-air setting create a cozy, refreshing ambiance. Don’t miss it if you are staying on Nevis 🏝️

We were truly impressed by drift. Their ability to elevate homestyle cooking was wonderful to experience, and they really nailed down their dishes. The starters were all great, especially the lobster salad which is a must get. The coconut shrimp had amazing flavor too. But the entrees were probably the star of the show. This was the best served lobster on the island, as they managed to perfect the texture and add so much flavor. The jerk chicken also shined out, and the fried plantains were a great addition to the dishes. The only setback at Drift was the simplicity of their menu and dishes. They were great at what they did, but they could really elevate themselves if they included more depth and complexity throughout the menu and each individual dish. The ginger cake for dessert was great.. but it was just a ginger cake. Overall though, really enjoyed drift, would give it a 9.1/10.

This is a special place, set off the road, right on the ocean. The setting is an extension of the beach - a whitewashed open air building seemingly made from all cast off materials like bamboo reeds, driftwood, shells and other assorted seaside elements. Service was impeccable and the food matched the setting in variety, taste and presentation. The owners, Vicki and Mark, as well as the staff are gracious and knowledgeable, happy to share information about the area, the menu, the wine list. You feel like a guest in their home. A wonderful experience.

The drinks were also very tasty. Overall a great experience!

Wish I could give everything a ten! Absolutely wonderful! Stunning views of the ocean are the first thing you see upon entering the open air building! The entire service team was amazing - friendly, knowledgeable about the dishes, and calm. It was a very relaxed service! On vacation this is exactly what I'm looking for - not to be rushed - time to enjoy my cocktail and then time between each course! Vegetarian entree was fabulous - wonderful variety and my husband had fish of the day which was fresh and delicious! The dishes both had a beautiful presentation as well! We had the gingerbread cake for dessert to share and this was also fabulous - packed with flavor and not overly sweet! Wonderful experience! Thank you!

Bananas Bistro on the historic Hamilton Estate is hidden away in lush tropical gardens and has an eclectic menu of local dishes and international cuisine. The food is delicious, and the Chef is amazing. If you're in Nevis, make sure to go!
This was definitely the highlight of our dining experience in St. Kitts & Nevis. We came here on a Thursday night without a reservation, but the friendly host immediately accommodated us. The server was attentive and efficient, but I did wish they would offer tap water. We shared many appetizers and would recommend the lobster summer roll and the goat water. We ended the meal with a coconut cake that wasn’t overly sweet. The cocktails were spot on! The restaurant itself was beautiful, with all the lights surrounding the garden. Bring a bug spray with you.

Really amazing experience at Bananas. The atmosphere is very homey, and they 100% achieved their mission of total hospitality. To start of the meal, we ordered a selection of appetizers. I recommend ordering both of the salads, as they differ from each other but compliment each other. The goat water was also a very good touch. I would have liked the appetizers to be more complex and match the level of depth that the rest of the meal does (which just means i think everything was amazing). The main comment about the appetizers is the ability of turning something seemingly simple to a depth and complex meal through levels of flavor and texture. Take the lamb shank, which I ordered. It may have been simple as it was served with mash potatoes and broccoli, but the variety of textures and flavors brought this dish to another level. The lobster spaghetti also followed a similar path. The flavors of the sauce and the variety of texture took this dish far. The dessert may have been the best part of the meal. All of the desserts showed out, and you cannot miss the chocolate molten cake. Overall a great experience, 9.25/10.

Bananas delivered one of the best meals on the island. The service is very warm, welcoming and 5* professional. The food was delicious with great recommendations from the staff. The atmosphere is laid back with tropical decor accompanied by a fun playlist. Several people were celebrating a special occasion and the team went above and beyond to make them feel special.

A garden setting with an excellent service staff. Great culinary experience with an island flavor. A must visit while on the island of Nevis.

We enjoyed dinner here so much we went for a second time. Great food, excellent cocktails and good selection of wines. Staff are friendly and attentive. I can recommend the Moroccan Lamb Shank. It was cooked perfectly but make sure you have a big appetite. Nothing else to say. Thoroughly recommended.

Worth the drive to this elegant tropical food paradise! Travel up the hill to see amazing sunsets from the rooftop- and the food is over the top delicious- you won’t find a salt or pepper shaker on the table because they season everything with magic! The owner and boutique and wait/bar staff are AMAZING full of passion and professionalism. Make a stop here if you on Nevis! Oh and you must order the goat water- trust me- broaden your food palette- it’s like stew only way better. Really :)

The setting for this restaurant was great. We were surrounded by a lush forest and seated outside. We shared a lobster roll appetizer which was excellent. For dinner I had some ribs and my wife had snapper. They were both good but not super memorable. We were staying at a nearby hotel and I would definitely come back here for a change of pace.

We had a wonderful dinner at Bananas - when you drive up, it's like pulling up to a friends house - though a friend who lives in a magical treehouse! We were promptly greeted and invited up to the roofdeck for a pre-dinner treat, which was lovely (and I imagine has quite the sunsets!). The menu featuring many local favorites was delicious, fairly priced and like eating at a family member's home with Grandma cooking! Simple, local flavors and friendly, attentive service....wonderful desserts and rum selection too! The restaurant has a cute shop too and beautiful artwork that the owner herself has curated from around the world on display and for sale. The owner was lovely and friendly, and on-site to make sure everyone was happy and having a good time. All in all, a lovely, warm, welcoming, delicious dinner on our honeymoon!

Authentic Thai cuisine is served at this lovely eatery in the Botanical Gardens of Nevis. The outdoor porch is perfect for enjoying the natural surroundings, and excellent service makes it a real hidden gem on the island.
Beautiful views!

Went there to visit the garden after lunch on a cloudy day. Restaurant was a surprise they have a very nice Thai menu and some people there were raving about the food. We had just have lunch so we opted for and appetizer and some fancy drinks. They were nice but not the best i've tried. My advise go there for lunch and enjoy the garden which is very nice...

Great Find at the Botanical Gardens. The servers were very gracious. The outdoor porch ambiance is perfect with the garden surroundings. We enjoyed two different and very interesting Thai fufu cocktails. The Tom Kha Gai & Tom Yum Goong soups are the best Thai dishes we have ever had. Towards the end we mixed the coconut soup with the hot & sour soup to create a great blend of flavors. This is a must visit after the Botanical Gardens walk-about.

Wonderful views from the patio balcony while we sipped exotic flower drinks and enjoyed flavorful and authentic Thai dishes. The owner was present during our visit and she was extremely gracious and welcoming. The gardens were beautiful, I highly recommend you visit this spot!

Good food, good service, couldn't get half of the menu when we visited, small serving sizes for the money. One table had a good breeze on a hot day, but great view from the balcony. The gardens, however, are way over hyped. Golden Rock is much better and the food just as good. Also you don't pay to see the gardens there. The Botanical gardens we're well manicured and cared for but to pay to see them and pay for food was a bit much. Also, golden Rock plant life was more varied and natural so depends on where your interest lies.

We were staying on St. Kitts and took the rental car over to Nevis for a day to explore. We had originally planned to eat at a restaurant on the water but it was closed and I'm glad that it was. We toured the botanical gardens and then enjoyed an EXCEPTIONAL Thai meal here. My fried snapper was absolutely amazing! The flavors blended so well together and they served our entrees with a tray of fresh spices to add even more kick! I enjoyed a glass of fresh mango juice along with my meal. The view from our lunch table overlooking the botanical gardens and ocean was amazing. Service was beyond exceptional. Definitely eat here if visiting Nevis.

My husband and I visited the Oasis in the Gardens and it was a beautiful experience. The ambiance was peaceful and the guide knew how to explain her gardens with such expertise. The delicious tea made from flowers was a tasty treat. There is a wonderful restaurant there as well.
