The stained glass is a sight to see. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy elaborate architecture. A pretty casual environment. I was in awe to visit this church, no wonder it is the first site to be granted UNESCO World Heritage in Germany. Vistors are allowed starting at 1pm, you have to pay extra to enter the area where Charlemagne's grave is. It is really worth a visit. Very impressive. The map the ticket seller gave us was not up-to-date, therefore we couldn't find the animals according to it. There is alpacas there, which according to the map, is to the right of the entrance, but actually was somewhere else. There were free bathrooms inside, to the right direction of the entrance.

Had a great afternoon here, surprisingly close to the centre of Aachen and extremely easy to find. Free parking is also available to visitors. Great variety of animals which are obviously well looked after. Plenty of staff attending to their needs throughout the day. Particular highlight was the goat enclosure which you can go inside and meet the young goat kids! Definitely worth a visit!

Good price, it was fun for our son who is 2,5. Highlight of the day was feeding the goats. Things that could be better are trash cans in the toilets so you can get rid of the changed diaper. And the warm food form the restaurant should be warmer. And coulb be fresh some things get warmed in the microwave they could be fresh of should get more time in the microwave

I liked the layout and information given, and was really impressed by the use of old iPhones as audioguides. It is however a bit of lacking if you happen to have a 4 y.o. child accompanying you.

A small and modern museum where you can see the history of Aachen chronologically. It's very well-designed both to preserve the artifacts and to help visitors examine them better. The entrance fee is 6 Euros.

A very important museum of Aachen, not as the Treasure of the Dome but organiced with help of mes tecnologíes. The only fall IS that aren't any phrase nor book in spanish lenguage, a piti because many spanish speaking people can' t understand the matter. On the other side some of the reception's people don't speak english and this disturb a lot. But I advise to visita It better if hoy know gernany lenguage.

Really worth the visit! About one and a half hours is perfect. Lots of very interesting history starting at Roman times and working its way to present. Lots of interesting artifacts and paintings/photos to see. Entry very reasonable, only 6 €.

Very outstanding city museum! Good interactions with displays and user-friendly explanations. Also the items are enhibited in an artistic and attractive way.

Small but fascinating museum full of the local history around Charlemagne and similar. Easy to get around with lifts for wheelchair users, and ample space to get around the exhibits. Helpful staff and good facilities, disabled toilet was also clean, well kept, and had plenty of space to get around to use it. The museum is right next to the Cathedral, and there is a Weinachtsmarkt in the area in December so it may be busy. The ramp to access the wheelchair entrance is also built in to the steps, we had some difficulty going along here as a school trip (or similar group) were using the steps to pose for photos and sit for lunch/break.

An interesting city museum starting with the Romans to modern times. The focus is of course on Charlemagne. Who founded the city. His life and work is present everywhere in the city. The museum offers changing exhibitions. Plan for 2 hours.r

We only had 45 minutes to devote to this museum before our train, but that worked. A nice collection of relics from the time and Romans. The mail shirt felt remarkably heavy.

A wonderful museum, worth a good hour and a half. Takes you through the history of the city with a special focus on Charlemagne. The location of the museum is fantastic and all of the staff were friendly. Don't miss the exhibition upstairs!

The collection is rich and there are many modern imitations, detailing all aspects of the society during the Charlemagne period.

A great place for most of your shopping needs in Aachen. Around 700 m from the train station. Located at the heart of the city, the biggest shopping mall in the city of Aachen. The mall has a parking place. You will find almost all the familiar shop here, (h&m, c&a also nearby). There is shop for kids. A kid play station. If you get tired of shopping, you can sit, there is plenty of space for seating. The most amazing thing is there is a food court, they offer wide variety of foods. If you want to eat only a bakery item, there is a Rewe also. For electronics you will find Saturn. In the second floor, there is a toilet, that is very clean. They have both escalator and lift. And the interior design is eye shooting.

It has everything under one roof, highly recommended for the shopping in Aachen.

Way too hot in here, also verry small walking pads and barely no sitting area. Not the most welcoming/comfortable shopping mall. Also, the mall took away the vibrant shopping streets of Aachen. Many shops outside the mall have already closed which is painful to see.

Nice shopping mall, but the machines to pay for parking are often out off order, only accept cash and it’s not possible to pay contactless or by smartphone. Calling the Servicedesk for help isn’t a solution. They just say you have to arrange cash, the can’t help because the parking lot provider isn’t open for a other solution. Sorry that isn’t service!

Love the place, especially the food lounge a variety of tasty dishes. The variety of the stores within the mall also makes it one of my top favourite shopping malls to visit. It can get crowded on Saturdays. The parking can get tough and lengthy lines on the parking gates sometimes.

It is one of my go-to places in Aachen as it’s a nice plaza with everything under one roof and it has improved significantly in the past few years so that is commendable! Hope they expand and become even better!

An average mall that’s very crowded on Saturday. There is a food court on level 4 that has quite a lot of options. WC is FREE unless you volunteer that €0.70.

I had the opportunity to visit Aquiz Plaza in Aachen, and it's a fantastic mall for shopping and entertainment. The diverse range of stores and dining options is quite impressive. However, it can get crowded during weekends, so be prepared for a bustling atmosphere. It's an excellent place to spend a whole day only that not on Sunday or holidays as it will be closed. If you are a a Savvy Shopper you can always find something that is not pricey and suit your needs. I will recommend Pull & Bear for apparel and the supermarket （Rewe）on ground floor plus the DM.

It is like visiting a house from the 18 century. The personal use to follow you every where you go but don't take it personal, they do that for everyone. It has an small inner yard where you can take a coffee for 1.50 EUR. It is a nice place if you like the art and your are curious about how the people lived in that times.

Interesting museum about the different styles and houses in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is really interesting. I guess you need around 1 hour to see everything. Small bags can be stored.

Its a house originally built in 1662, but was renovated in Rococo style in 1786. The house is still maintained as how a normal house would have been in 1700s! 'Pharmacy' can be seen free of cost even before reaching the ticketing counter. Rest of the place is ticketed.

The ponttor wall is famous historical landmark. You will find plenty of places to eat around here for cheap price. It is the most happening place in Aachen.

Beautiful and calm city of Aachen , Germany and is located about 300 km from Frankfurt. Good place to live. RWTH university is one of the best educational institutions in Aachen . In Ponttor students mess is famous.

I like historical spots; there is no much to do there but visiting the spot and taking some pictures; so, few minutes will be fine. But the Ponttor and also the Marschiertor are must see if you visit Aachen. Just, pass by and take some pictures. For me, the Ponttor was better, bigger area and with additional details, compared to the Marschiertor, though the Marschiertor is taller. The idea that these 2 gates are the remains of a once larger wall surrounding the city of Aachen and protecting it's occupants from raids and invasions, is just impressive!

If you are a fan of medieval architecture, this place is a must! It is a prime example of a city gate, one that you imagine while playing games or reading books. I saw it during a drizzle and really imagined myself being a peasant trying to sneak into the city past the guards and looking for the last coins to bribe them... If you are not fan of fiction, the gate will not fail to impress either.

Nice point to see the light of sunset in spring with the black ground of Aachen cathedral. Located on the small garden which the nature hot spring of Aachen “Elisonbrunnen“ The water rotates counterclockwise. It also flows in winter due to the warm water from Aachen's hot springs. Various figures are set up around the fountain, all of which have to do with money. They represent avarice, greed, patronage and begging. Just a small square in the center. There is nothing to even spare time for it.

People here were not the most friendly. Seemed very fed up with life no matter who you spoke to that worked in one of the Aachen busineses. .The dog started seeing spirits or something and got proper freaked out.

Aachen is full of fountains, and this was my favorite. Close to Elisenbrunnen and with a nice small park close by.

Love this place and would come back again. The variety of all lindt products is super to have in one place. Good offers, some obviously better than others. Offers are not intense but quite okay. It's huge and has everything! One idea: a coffee/hot chocolate machine or a lindt ice cream machine on the exit would be such a winning combo with the chocolate!

The vast range of Lindt chocolates sold here was amazing, but should be expected. What was somewhat disappointing was the atmosphere of the place. The main entrance smelled like cigarettes as much as it did chocolate. The interior was very sterile and industrial. It was like an Aldi inside. So basically, come here to quickly get your chocolate fix for a good price. Nothing else.

This was a new addition to the coach tour and was well worth the visit. I’ve never seen search a wide variety of chocolate like this before and the prices are certainly cheaper than the standard shop prices. The pick and mix is a nice option for those that don’t want to buy boxes. There are also customer toilets on site which ids handy.

MARSCHIERTOR "The Ponttor in Aachen, Germany, (known in the 17th and 18th centuries as the Brückenpforte or Brückenthor) is one of the two remaining gates of the original city wall of Aachen (the other being the Marschiertor). The westernmost of the north-facing gates (the other being the Sandkaultor, which no longer exists), the Ponttor was built in the 14th century and manned by soldiers throughout the Free Imperial City of Aachen era. Today, the Ponttor is used by German Youth and Scout groups belonging to the German Scount Club (1945) and the German Scout Association Saint George. The exact date of the creation of the marching gate is still controversial. What is certain is that the current headquarters of the city guard Oecher Penn is one of the most powerful city gates in Western Europe that has been preserved. The Marching Gate was one of a total of 11 city gates in the city of Aachen, which were guarded by the "Freihen Reichsstädtische Stadtsoldaten" .Two of these gates have been preserved to this day. With its premises, the Marching Gate used to be the main weapon site. In the eventful history of the centuries, the marching gate not only experienced occupations and sieges by various groups of soldiers, but it was also used for some other purpose. After considerable damage from fire bombs in 1943, which mainly affected the roof structure, it was initially only temporarily restored. The other picture I took taking the road view into picture because I found it very fascinating how this attraction was positioned in the middle of the road.

The Marschiertor, also known as the Burtscheider Tor, is one of Aachen's two preserved city gates of the former city wall. Completed around 1300 as a five-story double-towered gate castle, it is one of the best-preserved city gates in Western Europe and has housed the Oecher Penn carnival society, founded in 1857, since 1964. There is room for 200 guests in the large armory. The second preserved gate is the Ponttor, on thecander side of the old town.

Very interesting gate! Seeing it from below is quite an experience, especially if it's dark, raining and a thunder illuminates it, as it happened to me.

Nice landmark. Going through the gate at night I have been jumpscared more often than I will admit by the soldier statue lurking in the shadows... Also sometimes the inside of the tower is rented out for events which looks cool.

I am sorry but I don’t understand how is possible that In a museum, also a pretty famous one not a small local museum of town, every single staff member don’t know how to speak English or any other language expect German. They could not answer the most simple question and ended up misleading me to join a group tour in German and when I asked if I could simply do the tour by myself they said no. Wasted my time, because at the end I could’ve done it but the communication was just 0 helpful Why in the only place where the staff you hire should speak English, you hire only german’s speakers. The kebab guy that sold me a sandwich earlier could speak a better English. Germany is the only country where I found this problem in mostly all the museums and I think is just because they don’t want to hire younger people..

I recently visited the Ludwig Forum in Aachen, and while I must confess that modern art isn't exactly my cup of tea, I stumbled upon an unexpected gem during my visit. The "Water Bucket Exhibition" showcased an avant-garde approach to the fragility of life, cleverly manifested through strategically placed buckets to catch leaks in the roof. The juxtaposition of the unpredictable water droplets and the surrounding art pieces created a surreal atmosphere, prompting contemplation on the impermanence of our surroundings. It was a stroke of accidental genius that turned a leaking roof into an unintended masterpiece. Kudos to the museum for embracing the unpredictable and weaving an unintentional narrative about the transience of life. Sometimes, art finds its way into the most unexpected places, and this water bucket installation certainly left a lasting impression on me. Bravo to the museum for keeping things refreshingly unconventional!

Great art. Terrible atmosphere. What others have said about rules and docents, very accurate. Oppressive atmosphere for such a gran beautiful space. Breathtaking art, but intrusive docents make you think they will report you to the secret police if you say the wrong thing. Do not go with children. Also do not use locker 38 as it will take your euro and not give you key or lock your belongings.

The chalk wall was fun. Other Art … it’s subjective and for a normal person, maybe a bit hard to understand. But I’m glad we went.

We left after 15 minutes not neccesary because of the art ( it was not very- very inspiring, but that is a matter of personal taste and a calculated risk whenever visiting art shows) but due to the misbehaviour of the guards! Every move we were being watched closely, too closely, one guard was even staring to us. It was an unpleasant experience. Not welcoming and not relaxed. We left feeling uneasy. Only one thought could save this crazy experience: that it was a performance! But helas, it was not. It was rude and never again!
