Impressive cathedral for the the time it was built. The stairs leading to it gives a very imposing view with the bell tower on the left. Climbing the stairs is like a going thru time travel to many centuries back in history. The court yard is lovely with the arches and the garden in the center. The crypt below is so ornate your eyes will have to work overtime. Next you will enter the cathedral which is also very impressively decorated. Three euros is well worth spent.

A must see in Amalfi. You can visit all the parts, including the claustro, cathedral, museum... Included in the ticket for 4€. It has so much history and it is really beautiful, we enjoyed it a lot.

Main attraction in Amalfi as the church is located right in the heart of the town. Huge staircases to the entrance where people normally sit there to rest and chill. From there, you can see the Amalfi square with the good vibe of this busy town. The duomo has its own unique design and charm as a mediaeval cathedral. Quite different to other European cathedrals we have been to. You can see the bell tower on the right hand side of the church too. Lots of good shops, restaurants and cafeteria around. Its hard to miss this spot once you are in Amalfi.

I was captivated by the beauty of this place. The artwork and marble work were stunning, and its central location allowed us to fully appreciate everything it had to offer. We were lucky to visit during the off-season in March, so there weren't many people around. Just a tip: it's wise to carry some cash, as the card machine isn't very reliable.

The Town of Amalfi, has a special significance to me due to it being a special gift trip to me by a lovely person and I must say the town is absolutely beautiful, small but stunning and I enjoyed it alot. The church is absolutely beautiful and you can feel the rich history of the church especially if you go to the old part of it.

A beautiful historic church that took my breath away. I'm not used to churches of this level in the United States. To walk through that door was truly knowing you are in God's presence and grace. Everyone was kind and so caring. Such respect and honor. I'll never forget this church. My faith is now stronger then ever. Thank you to all who brought God's church to all. I didn't see it as an attraction but a true house of God.

A beautiful cathedral which can get crowded on the outside with tourists getting crazy over pics, selfies. Ignore the irresponsible travellers and when you walk in it's quiet impressive. The crypt, cathedral and all the art work is worth a feast to the eyes.

The cathedral houses the relics of Saint Andrew in a crypt and features beautiful frescoes and intricate details in its interior. The Duomo di Amalfi is a must-see attraction, offering a blend of history, art, and breathtaking views.

Be ready to be amazed by beauty. The stairs will take you to the entrance of the museo Paradise Cloister, to move then to the Basilica of the Crucifix, the Diocesan Museum, the Crypt (my favourite) and the cathedral at the end. There is an entrance fee of 4€ and you can have a brochure, very well done, taken care by Soprintendenza Belle Arti and Dioces of Amalfi. After here I went to see the view where there is the Cemetery. You can take a lift up or challenge the 300 steps.

Amalfi Cathedral is a medieval Roman Catholic cathedral in the Piazza del Duomo. It is dedicated to Saint Andrew the Apostle, whose relics are kept here. we were on a guided tour of the town of Amalfi. This included a very pleasant tour of the cathedral.

As you approach Amalfi by boat, the cathedral bell tower is clearly visible from the sea and is a lovely sight. The cathedral itself possesses a Byzantine beauty, with its bell tower decorated by marble and majolica. The impressive façade was mostly rebuilt in the late 19th century, its pediment decorated with mosaics, and is approached by an imposing set of sixty-two steps leading up to the entrance doors. It is two churches which have been merged into one cathedral. The interior is varied and splendid, and includes the Crypt of St Andrew. There is a garden containing colonnades, arches, and sculptures.

Beautiful! The toilet is hard to find without asking but everything else is really good and nice to look at. Especially the one ceiling and the crypta were really impressive.

Cool spot to see how paper was made using water powered equipment underground. Tour guide was very friendly and her explanations and demonstrations were very good. Made my own sheet of paper!

Very interesting museum, you can see how paper was made back in the day until the modern times. You can see the machinery at work, create a piece of paper yourself (the way was made a some centuries ago) and learn a lot of interesting stuff from the tour guide. Highly recommended!

I can't say that I was excited to visit a paper museum but I was pleasantly surprised and found it quite engaging. The historic papermill was carved into the rocks which created a cool grotto experience. The evolution of paper making over the centuries was described and exhibited using the actual restored tools and machinery. They harvested creek energy and used water wheels to power the machinery, which was innovative for the time and environmentally sustainable even by today's standards. A must see when visiting Amalfi.

I liked it. It's quite interesting to see the origins of the paper industry that the wealth of these little towns were founded on. Dating back to the 13th Century the museum has working examples of the age of the early paper presses. Then, it took a whole day to make quality paper by hand and heavy hammers driven by water mills. The much later ones, still powered by the weight of water, only ceased working in the last 60 years or so. These machines took less than an hour to press an entire roll of wrapping paper. You are each invited to stir a vat containing a soup of cotton fibres which you place a wooden frame of fine flat copper to gently collect and film of 'paper'. Rolled onto a bed of woollen cloth this is then air dried to create a paper good enough to sell in the shop.

Medium jaunt up a (not steep) hill. Thomas e Emilio were great guides! I know how paper is made, so I just strolled around myself for 15 min until an English guide was available. Then I had him tell me just the short version. I liked walking beyond the tourist section, through residential to get here.

Very interesting museum showing how they made paper in medieval and later times. I think taking the guided tour is worth it (4.5€ entrance without, 7€ entrance with), especially with the tour guide we had - Tommaso. They explain how the whole process went, give an overview on the machines, as well as some fun facts. They even let you make some paper and there’s also a small gift at the end.

A hidden gem and definitely one of our favorite experiences in Amalfi. Great alternate excursion for when the weather keeps you off the beaches and boats. The museum is about a 15-minute walk up the main street of Amalfi town just on the left, a few steps after another paper craft store. We booked the private tour (€15/person) which allowed our whole party to participate in some paper making. We were also all gifted some handmade paper at the end. Elio, the museum manager and our guide, was so informative and also advised us when it was best to take photos and videos throughout the tour. The gift shop was amazing as well. Fun fact: this is the oldest active paper making mill in all of Europe, dating back to the 13th century.

Cool old paper museum with a tour that goes through the process, runs some machines, and lets you try making some paper for a part of it. You can do an unguided tour for slightly cheaper which we considered but in the end the tour was very helpful and interesting. There's also a gift shop that you can explore.

You will love the leading men and women and you will hate the villain - the villain plays such a great role as the villain - that you like disliking him!!! The music and lines are easy to follow as there are monitors set up with English translations. The story follows how Amalfi came to be and the struggles the people had to overcome. The voices of the actors are really great!! The sound resonates throughout the hall of this ancient armory!!! Filled with mysterious smoke and giving you the feeling of actually watching from afar!!! Theater in the round .... where every seat has 100% visibility of the action. It’s free!!! At the end you can easily contribute a donation, buy a CD and get a picture with the cast. Love them!!

Extraordinary place to visit... with the coastline ... launching ships would have been difficult......Architecturally this is close to the Islamic style .. the pointed arches, the cross vaults and pillars... a similar building was recently revealed in Jerusalem... the Amalphitan hospital founded in 1063..

Place is not to big and it takes short time to visit. Entry fee is a bit to high for the quality of attractions. All together not bad but not so impressive.

Who knew St. Andrew, the first disciple of Jesus, is supposedly buried here? The cloister is outstanding and the original church with its bronze doors cast in Constantinople and dedicated to St. Andrew makes you feel you are in the 10th c.

This is a monastery near the cathedral. To get there you have to take some stairs down and up:-)There is 3 EUR enterance fee but it worth it. The interior is beautiful, there is an exhibition about history inside.

Perfect people-watching spot. Perfectly nestled in the center of Old Amalfi right in front of the Sant' Andrea Cathedral. This fountain is the perfect spot to sit down and have a gelato while gazing at the cathedral...

It’s a small fountain, unlike the grand fountains in Rome. But very unique in design. You will notice when you pass by the area.

The most vivid place in town. Fontana is surounded by many cafes offering good opportunities one to kill his time while enjoying a cup of coffee or a pastry. The view to the basilica is fantastic.

Really good service. We arrived two minutes late for the 11.10am service from Salerno to Amalfi. The chap waited to lift the ramp as we ran towards the back of the boat. Both boats, to and from Amalfi, were clean and in good order. The staff were friendly and made a real fuss of our dog. The service is quick, relaxed and the cool breeze and fresh air is lovely and you certainly get to see the best of the beautiful Amalfi coast.

Very friendly and helpful crew. Clean and comfortable ferry with plenty of room and a great trip. BUT the old guy at the ticket office in Salerno on the right hand window on 3rd July at about 11am took advantage of my situation being in a rush to get on the ferry with three large bags and hand luggage and my wife and young child. This thief helped himself to 10euros of my change. The act was deliberate because the change provided was inserted amongst the tickets and the thief new that I was going to rush to get on the ferry and the shortfall would not be noticed until too late. Please Travelmar, take this money from the thief’s pay and give it to a decent charity.

Best way to travel along Amalfi cost. However, people working there are not nice. I understand it could be tiring to welcome every 25 mn hundred people with the same questions. However, this is your job. Don’t like to be treated without politeness.

I really appreciate you taking the temperature of every passenger. Sadly I have just come off a ferry from Maiori to Amalfi where the lady in front of me measured 38.5 - which is clearly fever. I didn’t quite understand what she told them but clearly she wasn’t happy about not being allowed to board. After 5minutes back and forth they allowed her on. I really love Italy and this is not to be negative but please take your measures more seriously. Yes it was the same day as I left the review. It was the first ferry in the morning.

Terrible organization, long lines under the sun until you hop on the ferry, they overbook the ferries, NO AIR CONDITIONER inside so be prepared to have the worst ride of your life. They say it takes 1 hour to get to a destination but ends up being 2 hours or more. Other companies have air conditioner and better organization when boarding. Wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy.

Absolute chaos trying to get a ferry. Signs for destinations all in the wrong place so people are queuing for the wrong place, one tiny little section for everyone to queue down for all destinations, staff so unhelpful and not telling you where to be. Pay extra for a private boat and don’t have your day ruined!

We got tickets to Minori but was told to get on a ferry that was said to be going to Minori but was actually going to Maoiri. Once in Māori, the employee at the ticket counter said we could not get any tickets for a ferry back to Minori despite it being clearly possible on the official ferry schedule. Make sure to double check the intended destination of the ferry before you get on as they will not check your ticket for accuracy, they will just tear it.

It would be great if the information of the closed Positano harbor would have been on the website or on the social media channels instead of unprofessional papers pinned to the ticket offices. I also expect a communication if the ferry service is not running due to bad weather.

The beauty of combining a nice trip on the sea to admire the splendor of the coast up close and the usefulness of the fastest and most practical means of getting around without having to do hours of traffic on the road. Place is not to big and it takes short time to visit. Entry fee is a bit to high for the quality of attractions. All together not bad but not so impressive.

What were they thinking when they removed the overgrowth of plants on the structure? That was the sole reason people came to see the atmospheric charm in which it brought there. Disappointing to see that it no longer looks how it does in the pictures.

Beautiful and quiet area to relax in. Cafe and bars nearby, lots of shops to browse in and food heaven. If you love lemons, this place has the biggest lemons around!

Beautiful site, but it’s not really a park in the traditional sense. You can view it from the street above, looking down into the area where the sawmill used to be, now reclaimed by plants.

Very cool old ruin. Don’t follow google maps, it’ll take you down blind alleys behind peoples houses. Just aim for Hotel Antiche Mura, Carey on to the bridge just after it and down, look over the bridge. As others have said, it’s lovely to see if you’re already around Corso Italia and have a few minutes to kill. Not worth a special trip.

Our hotel room balcony overlooked it. It was prettier as a ruin festooned in green. Let’s see what they re-make of it.

It's a place that is definitely worth to see. The valley and a building at the bottom of it is really impressive. It's just 2 minutes from main street so it should be in to-do list of every trip.

It's cool and it takes like 5 minutes to go to there from the station and have a look. But there's nothing more than viewing it from above. You can't actually walk there.

Although no longer abandoned, it is still an amazing sight to see. The depths of the ravine are breathtaking. They are rehabilitating the buildings at the bottom, it’s pretty cool to see the work they’re doing.

Beautiful hotel in an old convent/monastery. Easy walk up the hill from the downtown/ferry. Breakfast is included in a very nice dining room. Pool is very nice and right on the water. Also have private access to the sea from stone steps down into the water. Highly recommend as a place to stay in Amalfi.

Lovely and historic property with seaside pool and sea access. Staff was very polite and friendly. Breakfast was good. Views from the room were beautiful! That said, check-in was anytime after 2 PM and we arrived at 3:30 to find our rooms were not ready and we had to wait. Additionally, later that evening we had just put our child to sleep in our room around 7-8 PM when a staff member just opened our door and walked in, claiming they were going to clean up the room, but we had only arrived a few hours ago so our room didn't need cleaning, and they woke up our child before they left (they were polite and apologized). Overall, a beautiful property but falls short on service.

Very nice hotel! Friendly staff! Perfect location. Beautiful pool down the cliff. Amazing view. Short walk to the centrum, which is a very cozy little village, but can get a bit crowded. If you want a special dinner, book a table. The hotel is an old cloister, they have taken care of the history, and made a very good atmosphere. Better breakfast with a view is difficult to find.

This hotel is very peaceful with extraordinarily cordial and helpful staff who speak English well. The food was spectacular, particularly the Octopus and stuffed squid. Each dish was prepared beautifully and uniquely. The ambience still resembles that of the original monastery. The only odd thing I found was that rather than having true queen beds, they placed two twins next to each other creating an uneven ridge in the middle. Hopefully they upgrade that once guests start flowing back in post covid, but the overall experience was terrific and I would absolutely come back.

For the price, this hotel simply doesn’t measure up to others in a similar price range. The positives: Great location. Unbeatable views. Beautiful old building, oozing with history and potential. Lovely common areas. The rooms are simple but clean. Nice ocean front pool. Fantastic cappuccino. The not so good: More than half the restaurant was closed, so, despite several empty tables, we were not able to dine in, after a long day of travel. The bathrooms are old and in desperate need of updating. Towels are old. Bath products are of poor quality and in short supply. Flooring in the rooms are quite old and warn out. The bad: Rude staff - particularly at the front desk. Breakfast is poor - hands down the worst we’ve had in Italy. Bed sheets have so much starch it feels like sleeping under sandpaper. Pillows, bedding and mattresses are awful. There is not a single iron to be borrowed in the entire hotel. Overall, this hotel has been a disappointment.

We stayed two nights in the tower suite! Amazing views in this 1200 year old hotel! The breakfast was great! We picked this location to see the Amalfi coast from as it was central! The tower was an amazing experience! It is across the road from the main hotel but it is worth it for the experience of staying in the tower and having the views! Highly recommend!

Loved our 6 night stay here. Location is perfect for exploring the Amalfi Coast (no stairs!!). Pool and private access to the ocean was amazing, saving you €60 per day on sun beds at other beach clubs. Staff are super friendly and helpful, they assisted with booking restaurants, transfers and boat tours.

A beautiful historic hotel. This is not a modern chain hotel, this is like stepping back into another era. Beautiful paintings are dotted around the reception and restaurant area. The pool and beach has to be the best on the entire Amalfi coast, absolutely stunning. The staff are friendly and attentive, the restaurant is great (amazing views!), and breakfast is plentiful. It's not cheap to stay here but I'd say it's worth every penny.

It’s like staying at an old historic museum. I liked it and thought it was quite an experience. The beaches are like 30 euros so it’s really nice that this hotel has a pool and lounge seats and you can jump in the water from the rocks as well. Great restaurant in the hotel too with great views.

We were just at this beautiful hotel at the beginning of June. We found the view to be breathtaking at ever corner! Our rooms were so clean & comfortable not to mention very pretty. The staff was very accommodating. The servers in the restaurant were very helpful and spoke good English, we appreciated that! The front desk staff was amazing as well! Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The staff was so kind and hospitable and our room was very nice and clean. Attached is a photo from our room balcony. It is about a 5 minute walk from the city center (where you can conveniently reach the bus and ferry stop or taxis if you’re planning a day trip) but you still have an amazing view of the city from the hotel and it is situated directly in the middle between Amalfi and Atrani. Wonderful experience at Hotel Luna. All of the staff are incredible - they are so welcoming and helpful. The front desk is so friendly, and the breakfast team is incredible and will deliver anything you desire. The location is close enough to Amalfi without the chaos, plus the views from every room are incredible. The style of the hotel is historic and charming with a wonderful evening drink service in the 12th century courtyard. The pool and access to the sea was a wonderful addition - we swam many days after hot days of sightseeing. Be sure to use the somewhat hidden pedestrian tunnel to Amalfi right by the hotel!

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in Sept 2023 and can’t say enough about how wonderful it is from the location to the rooms and staff, not to mention it’s an old monastery. I only have given it 4 stars on the rooms because they are a bit dated but work perfectly with the ambiance of the hotel. From the porters to the front desk and wait staff everyone was exceptionally friendly too. We will go back again. 😘

Luxurious hotel on the Amalfi Coast. Rooms were amazing with an outdoor sitting balcony to view the water/boats. We ate most of our meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) at the hotel because the food and service were so good. The hotel has a pool, reading room, and even laundry service. The staff were also nice enough to give us a complimentary welcome champagne for our honeymoon. Overall, a really nice hotel-so nice we didn't want to leave the hotel much!

We just checked into the hotel for our honeymoon. We had called to ask them to call us a taxi because we have several bags that are quite heavy and the walk to the hotel from the port although short is completely uphill on a windy road. The person I spoke to refused to call so my husband and I had to drag our luggage up the hill which took us a long period of time and ended with us drenched in sweat. We had also requested a room with a balcony for our honeymoon and despite what the reception claims the person we spoke to when booking told us we would have a balcony (especially given how much we’re paying). The bathroom has glass walls that you can hear perfectly through so there is no privacy whatsoever. A really horrible experience thus far. Update on check out: we tried to order room service one night. Nothing complex, we just wanted an espresso and cappuccino. I called reception to ask to be connected to room service because they never provided us with the number. I called room service 8 times during a 45 minute period and they didn’t answer once. I called reception to ask to be connected to room service and they informed me they would have them call me within two minutes. I waited again and after not hearing called reception again and asked that they ask room service to bring the coffees. They refused so I went down to the front desk and only then did they offer to take my order. I asked why room service wasn’t answering and they said the restaurant was busy. I looked over as the restaurant is right beside reception and it was empty, which I pointed out. They said the outdoor space was busy. I checked, they had a total of 11 people outside. On the second last day the manager finally called me back after not answering my email for two days. His only solution was to give us a balcony for one night. Something that had been promised to us and another guest (we heard the guest complaining today about this when we checked out).

Beautiful Italian food for reasonable price you can get in Amalfi Coast. It is a hidden gem in Atrani just a short walk from Amalfi and away from the expensive restaurants in Amalfi. Quality is incredibly good and portion is superb especially the seafood risotto!

So about google maps - yes, don't follow it. I'm putting a screenshot of komoot, a hiking app, leading to a great view up there, from which you can follow the signs and get to Torre. Once you're out of the city and on the stairs - follow the white-red markings and the road. It's an easy hike, but tiresome for there are a LOT of stairs. Still need to be in a good condition. As for the torre itself, I can't recommend going up. I did, yes, but stepped very carefully. I don't think this door is supposed to be open. The place needs some tightening, it seems it will collapse any second. The views are great even without going up the tower. I also recommend Belvedere, the view is even better, as it's higher. Visited in March, very pleasant. Not sure if google will keep them chronological in order though, but I hope you'll get some idea. Happy exploring!

IT IS CLOSED! Trekked it all the way up there and to get to actual destination there is a door and it was locked! Multiple people turned away after walking up nearly 23 floors (felt like 103737 steps) don’t waste your time unless they advertise it’s open!

We tried to hike here directly from the Amalfi bus terminal following the walking directions on Google Maps because we didn’t have time to hike the 3 or 4 hour trail listed in the All Trails app - DON’T do that. Those directions actually led us to the church Santuario Santa Maria del Bando, which was closed. The walk up and down the stairs was nice and there were some views, but be warned that it doesn’t actually lead you to the watchtower, at least not currently.

The view was very enjoyable, though google maps took us the wrong way initially, the path has signs once you get to a certain point, it has many stairs so be prepared for a good workout. Use a trail finding app to find way.

I really enjoyed this walk up to the medieval tower that stands over Amalfi and can be seen above the monastery from the harbour. I saw the warnings about following Google maps and opted to use trail router to find the way up. The trail started on the right hand side of the road a short way after you go under the bridge if you follow the main road up through Amalfi from the harbour area. A path opposite a statue of a monk near enough. There are a lot of stairs but the walk was very enjoyable and going early on the morning we had the tower all to ourselves. Great views over Ravello, Amalfi and Atrani. Doing all the stairs on the way down gave me very stiff calves the next day but was totally worth it!

DO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE MAPS.. leads you to a dead end. Only giving 5 cause the photos look good, though the views we saw were still good. Use a trail map app to find the right path.

Did not have a problem finding this with the MAPS.ME app (on play store). The path is clearly (and accurately) marked in this app. We started from the back of Amalfi, walking towards Pontone. Takes under 1hr to get up to the Torre. The view is great! Make the time to go to the belvedere as well. You can sit on the edge and see both Amalfi and Atrani and the Mediterranean in front of you.

Beautiful hotel, comfortable/nicely decorated accommodations, delicious breakfast, friendly staff. About a 15-20 min walk downhill to get to Atrani and the beach, not recommended for anyone with difficulty walking. The beach costs 10 Eur per day to rent one chair. Beach umbrellas are included in that price (not the case in Napoli beaches). Probably best to rent a scooter while you are staying there to get to Amalfi and/or Positano (you must go here).

No one there when I went in the afternoon, I only ran into 3 other people on the trail up from atrani. A bit hard to find if trying to get there from atrani but worth the visit. Amazing viewing platform right at the top of the tower overhanging the walls. Highly recommended (free) experience, the hike is moderate difficulty but short.

Steep walk with stunning views from the top and some old castles and towers. Looots of stairs, about 1.5 hours each way. We went from Amalfi and came back via Atrani. Don’t follow google maps (follow one of the trail apps), the path heads up the valley towards Pontone before cutting back along the ridge towards the ocean. Pack water and a snack!!
