Great view from cable 🚡. I would recommend walking across the high bridge from the cathedral and catch this down to lower station the walk across lower bridge. Great view from all these places.

Great experience - easy to get there with the Porto Metro. Staff was very kind and helpful. You get a nice photo of yourself in the cable car, all packed in a Porto touristic guide - only 10 euros. They have a nice souvenir shop too.

Quick but fun experience! Line can be long so consider buying your tickets online. Good news is the cable cars can seat something like 6 people so most groups ride together. The cars also move at a good pace keeping the line moving. We used the lift to ride from the rivers edge to the top of the historic bridge then walked across to Porto. Beautiful views all the way. Tip: 1) You can ride one way or round trip. 2) Lots of restaurants at the rivers edge.

The ride is €7 one way and lasts about 2 minutes. Depending on how busy it is, you may have to ride with others. It is cheaper to take an uber back to the top but I guess it’s nice to have crossed it off the list.

What a VIEW! Easy walk from the Sao Bento station to the bridge foe entry to the station. I had a Porto card so it got me a few dollars off the ride. I just went one way so I could walk back across the lower bridge. They try to sell you a picture of you on the cable car which I didn't purchase and they weren't pushy about it. Amazing views a fairly short ride, and felt very secure in the car.

It was a fun ride up and down with the cable car. After a long walk through Porto during summer and after crossing the bridge the cable cars seem to be the better choice than walking down. They also provide great views of the port wine harbour part of Porto and across the river side.

Cable car which is €7 single or €10 return to go up or down between the Ribeira. There is a cable car every minute and the journey lasts about 3 minutes. Well worth a visit if you do not want to walk and get great views too of the river.

The Caia Cable Car is a nice break from walking around the city. It offers a short trip along the river and provides a good view of the city. However, it's not cheap.

It's one of the best experiences in Porto to ride on Gaia Cable Car. It is clean inside the cable car. It allows people to have a larger view span around. I was lucky that on the return trip, I got it private without other passengers.

We booked a tour and the you get a wine tasting at the end in their bar. The tour was really interesting and with audio guides you can choose how much and what you wish to listen to. I recommend it. Then you can access the garden with the bar and the shop. The tour include the tasting of the 2 cheapest wine they produce. But if you want to eat something - even nuts- you have to order. We did not particularly like the shop, full of expensive merchandise. But the tour is indeed interesting.

I really liked that it was a self guided tour. That way you can go at your own pace and dive as deep into the details as suits your interests. And they do provide a lot of detail, covering Taylor’s history, the Douro Valley, and of course port itself from the vine to the glass. We concluded with the tasting in the lovely garden, serenaded by the resident rooster and peacock. We supplemented the tasting with a 20 year tawny port (wonderful) and a selection of cheeses, olives and bread with olive oil from their estate (we’re taking a bottle home). Most enjoyable.

Enjoyed a self guided audio tour at the home of Taylor Port, established in 1692 - followed by a Port tasting and glass of wine afterwards in the well appointed gardens overlooking Porto! We’re also introduced to a chilled white port and tonic water which was amazing! Highly recommend. Staff were professional and friendly - a wonderful way to “Wine down” after exploring the busy streets of Porto below! For an enhanced experience, plan a late afternoon to enjoy a spectacular sunset on a good day!

We only took part in the tasting of Port on the veranda and really enjoyed the experience. The staff were very welcoming and informative. The family of peacocks were really putting on a show with plenty of family drama. It was early February but warm in the sun and the magnolias were blossoming. I appreciated the insect hotel exhibit and the port was amazing.

As a non-drinker, my first visit to a wine cellar was uncertain territory. But at Taylor's, the experience was unexpectedly delightful. Their self-guided audio tour allowed me to explore at my own pace, although I stumbled momentarily when I missed an audio session. The tour covered the company's history and the nuances of port wine impressively, with great photo opportunities along the way. The tour concluded with a beautiful garden for wine tasting, accompanied by impeccable service. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend this unique experience.

This is not just a place to taste port wine BUT an experience! We went later in the afternoon and the sunset was magical. The gardens were lovely and the wine- well good enough to toss some clothes to make room in the suitcase! A true treasure and so thankful we were advised to visit. The peacocks that greeted us were a bonus.

The tour was amazing as it tells you everything about port wine making and its history. One part was about smelling the different aromas that port wine could have. The tasting was in a beautiful garden with a peacock and a rooster joining joining in. Highly recommended! The only negative point was the rude receptionist that was yelling at guests as soon as they step in. We thought about instantly turning around and leaving but luckily we didn't.

While we were having holidays in Porto, we wanted to visit a winery which was not too far from the city. We went to Talyor's and it was an absolutely great choice! More toward a museum like, yet with great fun and information, we thoroughly enjoyed all the time with an audio guide. Wine tasting at the end in a beautiful garden was the grand final. Strongly recomended!!

Taylors port lodge - Self guided tour which was very interesting and informative of the entire history of Taylor port wine. Followed by port tasting and light lunch in their beautiful garden where peacocks wander - excellent quality food and service.

Loved the self guided tour. The pinnacle of the tour happens towards the end where you are served wine on a gorgeous terrace with peacocks walking around you. Really a much recommended experience in Porto.

Took an audio tour here for 20 euros per person. Was very informative and lots to see and here about. Really nice to see in the caves and get a whiff of the angels share. Nice place to sit at the end to enjoy your two glasses of port. And a can of chip dry and tonic to take away with you. If it is sunny, the gardens will be beautiful to sit in with a nice glass of port. Think we will be looking for the two ports we tried at the airport on the way home. The staff in the tasting room were very polite and informative.

We had an absolutely delightful experience at Graham's Porto. The tasting room is situated in a lovely spot perfect for enjoying an afternoon in the Portuguese sun. We sampled several of their port wine offerings and each one was more delicious than the last. The tawny ports were rich and complex, while the ruby ports were fruit-forward and bold. What really made our visit special was the exceptional service from the staff. They were extremely knowledgeable about the ports, walking us through the tasting notes and production methods. Their passion for the wines really shone through. We never felt rushed and they went out of their way to ensure we had a memorable experience. The tasting room itself has a warm, welcoming ambiance with a gorgeous view. It's the perfect place to relax and savor some of Portugal's finest ports. We can't recommend Graham's highly enough for port lovers or those looking for a quintessential Porto experience. We'll definitely be back on our next visit!

This is probably the best high-end, luxury Port wine tasting that we’ve done. You have to make reservations for the tour, with a great Port wine tasing at the end. Graham’s is probably our favorite Port wine, although we’re always discovering! Sometimes we’re in the mood for simple, cheaper Port wines. But when we want something really outstanding, we usually go with Graham’s.

Graham's has the most beautiful views to enjoy from their tasting room. The staff we encountered were not only friendly but also very knowledgeable. They always have a Vintage of the day available by glass for 10€ which is a great way to try a Vintage without committing to an entire bottle. There is a restaurant on the same property, Vinum, and it also has a cocktail patio to enjoy the breathtaking views. The walk up to Graham's is not as easy as some of the other port houses but it is worth it.

Amazing location, views and beautifully designed building and terraces…what a shame about the service! The terrace is split between dining and relaxed seating and almost segregates guests. We wanted to wait for dining but cannot snack or eat on the terrace (except for a couple of bites available). No table service, you wait at the bar for your drinks that you pay for before taking your own drinks back to the seating. No update on the table so after 2 hours of waiting we left. A real shame as the setting is amazing and well thought out! It could be so great!

The best best wine you could even imagine. Port wine is super tasty and delicious. I love everything about their winery. The guy who gives us tour, explained everything perfectly, he talked about all the details and history. It was my first experience at the winery and I enjoyed it a lot. They have port wine made by six grapes and that was my favorite. At the end of tour we tried 3 different wines and I loved all of them. I shopped wines from their stores for my American friends and they loved it.

Graham's is a top Port wine lodge in Porto. The tasting experience starts off with a video presentation that takes you through the history of the company and how it came to be one of the most iconic Port wine brands today. You are then guided on a tour of the active cellars, right in amongst all the barrels and vats of port wine. It's dark, musty and a delightful experience. The tour guide gives more information about the wines and answers any questions along the way. To end off the experience you are taken to the tasting room where you can sample all of the port wines you learned about. Each from different ages and prices. Add to this some cheeses and tapas and you have a very enjoyable experience that not only teaches you all about the port wine industry but allows you to sample all the wines before you buy. The terrace is a love spot to enjoy a light meal and more wine (as you now which one you prefer and can confidently order more), and features a sweeping view of the beautiful douro river and city of Porto.

Very nice port wine cellar, on the Gaia side of Porto. The location is on the mountain with a great view of Porto. Noble ambience and very nice garden. In addition, class wines and friendly service. Unfortunately, we had too little time, we would have liked to stay longer. If we visit Porto again, we will come back!

We visited Porto for a couple days and Graham's was our favorite Port Lodge that we visited of the many that we tried. We visited from the USA and wanted to try lots of the bigger port houses that distributed in the USA so we could buy some when we got home and didn't want to worry about shipping or traveling back with bottles in our suitcase. Graham's is one of the most historic port lodges and everything about the tour & tasting was top notch. I went in thinking I liked the older Tawny's but after leaving gained a much greater appreciation for the classic Ruby's after learning about them and tasting them. We bought some of the 2017 vintage bottles at home and plan to cellar them for a very long time. When we finally enjoy them in the future we'll look back fondly on our visit to Graham's Port Lodge.

Very enjoyable tour of Grahams port cave including tastings. You’ll learn a lot about how they make port and where it’s cultivated. Impressive venue that includes very old bottles under lock and key. Worth the $ to see this place.

Graham’s wine tasting was a very pleasant experience! Our guide was very knowledgeable and excited about wine. He was able to answer all our questions in a funny and informative way. The tasting itself was nice, we went for the vintage room which had much nicer vibe than the main tasting room and the wine was tasty! We went to Graham’s in September, but I felt like I wanted to write a review as we really enjoyed our time in there.

What an experience!! A morning tour and tasting became lunch at Vinum. The walk there is all uphill and the signage can be confusing to get to the tasting reception, which is at the rear of the the venue. However once inside, I was spoilt with the history and passion behind Graham's which I was unaware of. We were blessed to have Monica as our guide who is a fountain of knowledge, but second to her passion, love and enthusiasm for Port that she's happy to pass on to anyone that will listen. She did our tour in immaculate English and she's an asset to Graham's and their establishment. This is worth the time that you can spend here and there was not a single bad port out of the 7 tasted. The history, passion and attention to details and perfection is passed along from the brand, put into bottles and inherent in their staff. Service was good at the tour, tasting and restaurant. Regarding pricing seen in a previous review, I took photo's of prices of the bottles I wanted at other stores I went past in Porto prior to this tasting, and found the pricing cheaper per bottle at the on site shop. If you're passionate about heritage, life and Port, then please visit and hope that you get Monica as your guide!

The place and the guide are nice. However, you won't learn much about the Porto wine. It would have been interesting to get more explanations on the harvesting, blending and other processes... Instead of showing the company "catalog", I am sure there are wonderful photos and videos to share.

Overall good experience, but nothing over the top. The place is actually small. The visit starts with a small museum, followed by then entering the caves where you can see the barrels. The tour guide was friendly and provided detailed information about the history, composition, and preservation of the wine. The tour concludes with a wine tasting experience, with the option of trying either three or two wines, depending on the package you choose.

Visited here as part of a yellow bus package which also included a river cruise and a hop on hop off bus for 2 days which was only €18 per person really good value. You will need to book a tour to ensure a place and that it is in your own language. The tour was good and lasted about an hour and a bit. It was interesting and informative we got to taste 2 ports which were lovely. Well worth a visit nice tour guide and a nice place overall. Children are welcome and get soft drinks at the tasting.

Great tour with an entertaining host (who no doubt is bored of the same jokes every time but tells them well nonetheless!). This tour goes a bit more into what the different ports are and how they are made. Very informative and well worth the money. Honestly was a bit surprised because I thought it’s locations would lend itself to being a tourist trap but it’s actually excellent.

Tour was lovely, we did the English tour. You definitely get your monies worth! Their port wine here is some of our favorite. We ended up buying a bottle, the travel sized gift set, and a shirt all for under €40. Then went up to their tasting room and got two glasses of port wine for €8. Great prices!

Tour guide was very knowledgeable and enjoyable. Ports were amazing and I'm not much of a port drinker. Do yourself a favor and get the premium ticket... The extra 3 euros are worth it!

Relate to the guided tour, in my opinion it’s not worthy it. The tour takes place in basically two big rooms, the explanation takes forever, and our guide seemed a little lost. It looked like he had to keep talking to make it longer than it would be. The places are nice, you can see some stuff but nothing special. The group was too big so in certain moments we couldn’t see the projections because there was not room for us in front of it anymore. At the end we had a taste of the wine. But paying 15,00 euros for the ticket, I believe it could be better and the groups should be smaller. I recommend other caves than this one.

Was a great visit! The guide was very engaging and friendly! We were able to explore a little bit with caution and the tour was very informative. The wine tasting was fun and as a solo traveler I got to interact with people chatting over fantastic wine. We were taught how to taste it and what to look out for. You exit through a shop where you can buy authentic port wine ending off a great visit!

Porto Wine tasting with a lovely Fado concert, what else to ask? Just perfect! what a great venue. Wine tasting guided tour to know more about the caves, the porto wine production and how this marvelous experinece is done. Long family traditions, just a pure nectar, the vintage, the colheita, ruby or tawny, fantastic experience in Oporto.

Cute 30 minute tour with different pricing tiers (which affect which wines you will taste at the end and whether or not they will be paired with chocolate etc, its all clear pricing when you get to the ticket counter). The museum at the start was neat you get to wander around in there for 15 minutes before the tour begins. It was a bit cramped as we had a full tour of 48 people and a lot of the spaces we go into are not super wide. Comparing the tour with Ferreira caves I would say the advantage of this tour is that it is shorter (ferreira is an hour) so you do get to do the tasting earlier. Disadvantage of Calem tour is that theres less history shared about the family who ran the business, its more just a tour about production of port wine generally. Another plus for the Calem is that they do have a terrace out front with water view where you can just go either before or after your tour and order glasses of port as well as different tiers of tastings.

We popped in for a port tasting by ourselves, not in a group. We chose the basic port tasting for €17, which was a good value for a dry white, ruby, and tawny port. Our tasting guide explained the tasting notes for each port. The tasting room is beautiful and was quiet at the time we were there.

Short but fun tour. I didn't know much about how Porto was made and still had a fun time learning about the process. The best part is of course the tasting. You sit around a table with the other visitors. We stayed for an hour discussing with strangers and it was a very fun exchange. We ended up buying 3 Portos to bring back home. I think this is an activity anyone would find fun to do.

I was positively surprised by this. The tour was interesting and while a little cheesy with the don outfit it was entertaining and the guide was open to any questions related to port. The tasting was good too - great to taste a few options side by side. Wish the chocolate tasting tour wasn't as expensive, though - would've loved to try that but not at €60.

Visited in early January, after the Holidays, so we were able to get same day tickets for the English tour. Would recommend online booking days in advance during busy season. Definitely a different experience. My husband owns a winery in the USA, and we've done countless winery/brewery/distillery tours across the USA, with many of our friends owning businesses in the industry. Many of these group tours can end up being boring for us as we know the process well, and our questions are a bit in depth for the average tourist. However, we wanted to see Port in person and a new Lisboeta friend we met over NYE told us this is the one we should go to out of the countless on the same strip. And we are very glad we did! Getting the background of this very different Port Cellar and seeing the barrels in person was possibly the best we've done yet! Our tour guide was funny and knowledgeable. Plus, the gift shop was very reasonably priced! Such a pleasant surprise coming from the USA where usually trinkets are way over-priced then you can get elsewhere on these tours!

We We’re staying nearby & after reading a couple of guidebooks, decided this was the best port lodge tour for us. We opted for the 1790 tour which lasts about an hour, after which, you get to taste 6 different Sandman port wines. The tour itself was interesting and informative. Our guides English was good, he was knowledgeable and entertaining. I can recommend this tour.

The tour was good and a good price. I would buy online before. People tried to walk in and weren’t able to get in because the tour was full. The tour is a good length only about an hour and then the tasting after is pretty quick. Also if you take the time in the morning but the later one just know you will be hurried out because the places closes for lunch. So when we went we didn’t have a long time only like 20 min. You get three tastings at the end and it’s good then you can go through the store. I probably wouldn’t return only because there are so many to see but it was good.

Decided to have a break from drinking so popped in for a couple of Ruby Ports. Oldsters like me remember Orson Wells advertising this Port at Christmas.. met group from our home village...young people! Lovely outdoor area.

I couldn’t visit the power wine cellar. We didn’t book in advance . However I have tried their amazing wines. The tawny which is aged 20+ years was amazing. The Ruby was also just as good as that. You will fall in love with Porto if you taste these amazing wines.

Nice Port wine cellar in Gaia, just across the Duro river from Porto, Portugal. This was our second favorite cellar to visit, behind Ferreira. They have a nice outdoor seating area where you could order drinks while waiting for a tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered several questions. Did you know that Vintage Port can still age well even when bottled?

Before coming to Porto, my knowledge regarding Porto wine was limited to Calem. Me and my wife wanted to visit a wine cellar and were intrigued by the silhouette of Sandeman looming over the quays. And what a good visit ! For 17€, we discovered the chilly wine cellars and had a taste of 3 different portos (all of them delicious). We loved it !

I’ve sat outside on a chilly evening enjoying two glasses of port. Tawny from recommendation of the barman and then a ruby. Waiters are knowledgeable and provide world class service. It was hands down the best service I received in Portugal. Make sure you pop in for a tasting of their own port while enjoying the view!

Great tour we did book in advance before our trip. We got in right away, we loved the service , the experience , seeing some very interesting items and finally tasting our port wines! Truly delicious. We loved sandeman!

Took the English tour which lasted abt an hour and the sample tasting for 10Y, 20Y, 30Y and 40Y Tawny. Informative session on the difference between Tawny and Ruby as well as the history of it. Love port wines. If you have no time to visit Douro Valley, this cellar visit is probably the next best alternative since it is conveniently located.

We picked The 1790 Tour (25€ per person) and it was everything we hoped it would be and even more. From amazing and compelling stories about history of Sandeman brand, to the very informative and inspiring tasting of five great port vines - it's a deal straight out of heaven. Another highligh was Miss Aniela, our fellow countryman, who did an absolutely amazing job leading the tour and making it that much more interesting. Like said before - for 25€ it's not a deal, it's a steal!

Great tour, I only took the basic tour and tasting, the fancier aged port taste and tours in English are all booked solid for the next week. Plan ahead if you want those.

The tour itself was both informative and entertaining, with knowledgeable guides leading us through the fascinating history of Sandeman and the art of winemaking. The highlight, of course, was the generous wine sampling session that followed. They didn't hold back on the pours, and I left with a newfound appreciation for the rich flavors of Porto wines. One thing to note is that the alcohol content in some of the wines was surprisingly high, so if you're a light drinker, pace yourself. However, for those who appreciate a robust and full-bodied wine, you're in for a treat. The outdoor area for cocktails added another layer of enjoyment to the experience. The ambiance was relaxed, and it was the perfect spot to unwind after the tour. The selection of cocktails was impressive, and the skilled bartenders knew how to craft the perfect drink.

Fascinating tour of the ageing tanks and bottle stores. Very organised with a tasting session at the end which doesn't disappoint. Higly recommended.

Renowned for its unique circular platform that offers a 360-degree view, from which you can admire the winding Douro River, the colorful rooftops of Porto's old town, and the iconic landmarks such as the Dom Luís I Bridge and the Torre dos Clérigos. The viewpoint itself is surrounded by the impressive Monastery of Serra do Pilar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monastery's circular cloister perfectly complements the circular shape of the viewpoint. The best time is during sunset when the warm hues of the setting sun bathe the city in a golden light, creating a magical atmosphere. Watching the sun dip below the horizon while overlooking Porto and the Douro River is an experience that will stay with you long after you leave.

I believe this is the best chance to get a good perspective of the bridge. The walk by the rear stairs is worthy if you prefer keeping yourself active. No costs for this visit. The place has being recently restored and offers a more comfortable stay while photoshooting the landscape. No costs added, just a great view.

Beautiful spot to watch the sunset and have a look out over the old city and the river. Around sunset people are gathering and taking a seat over the old fence, bring a beer and snack for a perfect experience, and come early enough to have a good spot. In addition it's become a bit chilly also in summer so take a top or something.

The view takes the breath away. For the view from the riverside is to walk down the road. Can always take the cable car back to the bridge

A bit of a climb up to the top, but nothing too strenuous for most, you can get great views of Luis bridge, the Douro river and Porto from this vantage point. If you don't feel like walking up, you can pay for a vehicle to take you up. The elevated spot is close to the bridge and definitely worth going up for great elevated views when admiring the bridge.

This is the best place for sunset and is only a short walk up the hill from the entrance. There's seating available, but standing along the railings provides fantastic views around and across to Porto.

Granted this was my first Port wine experience (first time trying port wine even!), I loved everything. The tour was super interesting and manageable for someone who had no prior knowledge. The guide took her time and was very funny. 3 nice wines and a 45 min tour for €21 was a bargain

I visited the English tour which was very interesting. The tour guide's knowledge was very good and she had a clear answer to everything. We tasted three types of port and received clear explanations and history with each bottle.

Short but interesting tour of the different port styles and how they are made and stored. After the tour there are three glasses of Porto waiting: Branco, Tawny and LBV. All very delicious and refined. If you are looking for a short and interesting experience in Porto I would definitely recommend this tour as it is only ~17 euros (for adults).

At first, we were quite confused while deciding which cellars to visit to discover more about Porto. But after some research we decided to go to Ferreira's and we're not disappointed. O the contrary, the tour lasts about 1 hour and the guide was amazing. He gave us a lot of interesting details about the different varieties of Porto and how they are produced. The cellars themselves are amazing, very particular environment and really make you feel the importance of Porto wine. At the end of the classic tour, they let you try three chalices of Porto (3 different types) and they were akl very good. Recommended!

I researched quite a bit before I chose the Ferreira Caves port vintage wine tour, and it did not disappoint. We were a small group of six people with the tour starting at the bottom of the building . Our tour guide brought us through the whole facility starting with an explanation of where the Duro River runs, what type of boats were used to carry the port, and the fascinating history of how Ferreira got started. Next, we were taken through the halls where the enormous barrels that hold thousands of liters of port wine were. The whole building is all underground and you eventually walk up long dark tunnels while seeing their vintage port storage area,equipment used to make the wine, and even why the floor is made of 4 x 4 inch wood pieces, which was one of the most interesting things we learned about. If the weather gets too hot, they are able to wet the entire floor facility, the wood absorbs the water which makes more humidity and cools down the area for the wine, pretty amazing! When we finish the tour, we were actually at the top of the hill in a garden area. During the next part of the tour, we walked across the street into another building and were escorted to a small intimate beautiful room with hand painted Azulejos tiles. Four glasses of different types of port as well as vintage ones were waiting for us to taste. Once our tour guide was finished explaining the differences between each wine, our small group got to stay and enjoy them for as long as we wanted. Fabulous experience with a small group of people and a beautiful intimate room to share amazing port wine in.

Go for the tour and tasting, it's super interesting if you like port, history and stories. But DON'T buy anything at the store, they charge appr. 50% more than market price for the port. I found the Dona Antonia Reserve Tawny at EUR 10.90 in stores in Lisbon, at least 5 euros less than I paid after the tour, and it made me feel like an idiot.

We had participated on an English guided tour with discount with Porto card. It is worth to call them, they can book you places on the tour, which ends with port tasting. It was very nice, our guide was funny and informative, worth a visit!

We had the opportunity to tour Caves Ferreira this summer. It was so great to learn about the history behind it and then do a wonderful wine tasting. Fernando was our guide and he was amazing, from actually making the tour funny, informative and lighthearted to going to the trouble of learning which wines were vegan for some vegans in our group. The store at the end is also quite nice. Fernando recommended a reserve port wine and we bought 3 bottles - it's great. We also bought a special edition olive oil that is to die for. They also have some merchandise in organic cotton that is incredible. All and all, we loved it and are recommending it to all our friends that will be visiting Porto.

We visited three Port cellars while in Porto, and Ferreira was the best. Informative museum, loads of history, old world charm, dark cool cellars, and delicious Port wine. The wood floors made from old wine barrels were beautiful. Highly recommended.

We booked the 50min tour with 3 different port wines. The tour was very interesting and the guide really knew all the facts which was great!! His English was also mistake free. For the tasting part I have to admit I’ve been to better ones. You feel a little bit rushed and I did not like that much that they squeezed the people on the tables. The wines tasted ok but also weren’t my favorite port wines. For the price it’s ok I guess (we paid 19€)

Having tried several port cellar tours over the years, this was easily one of the best. Although now part of a bigger group, Ferreira are proud of being the only port company which has always been in Portuguese hands. We did the Dona Antonia tour, which is a bit more expensive and longer, but it was certainly worth the effort. It is a fascinating complex to be guided around and learn about how the lodge basically took over and enclosed a neighbourhood, which explains why it climbs the hill. The guide was friendly and very informative, while the tasting measures were generous - make sure to eat beforehand! It all felt a little more intimate than some of the slicker, bigger tours of the largest cellars, and is definitely recommended.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our tour and tasting here. We did the 10:15am tour on 9/19/23, the group tour in English. Our tour guide was really great- very nice and approachable and took time to answer everyones questions. It was a well-designed 40-60 min tour that explains the basics of Port wine while strolling through the facility and stopping to explain things along the way. then a tasting of 3 selections of Port after. For the tasting, the 3 ports are set up already at long picnic tables inside the tasting room. It was a fun way to taste wines in a comfortable environment and get to chat the with the rest of the group after the tour as well, if you like. We also purchased port wines to take home- our tour guide helped us choose, that did well surviving the plane trip home, as they are already packaged appropriately upon purchase. I would highly recommend this fun tour. (ps: A travel guide I used implied you generally don't need to make a reservation but I would disagree- they do fill up so if you know what day you'd like, you should, or least once you've arrived in the Porto area. We walked in one afternoon and they were all full for the day, so we booked for the next day with no problem. )

We did the English tour. It took around half an hour walking thorough their cellar, learning about the history of Ferreira and ended with a port tasting of three different ports. White, reserved Ruby and Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) single harvest. It also has a shop where you can buy from them.

If you want to support local, family-owned, small and independent business (rather than the big, foreign-owned ones), make sure to visit this Porto maker. Because of their size, they do not compete with the big brands on the first line of the river boulvar - but, man, it's so worth to step into a narrow alley for a visit in their shop. They offer a small tour, very informative, followed by a nicely structured tasting. And the porto is just exquisite. Also, you can buy their port only in their shop, not in shops or the airport - make sure to use this opportunity, also for travel-sized packages.

A friend of ours who is from Porto told us to visit the Augusto's winery. We did and we are so happy that we found this little familiar business. The Porto tasting and tour from Sonia was delightful and very interesting. We bought a few bottles of Portwine and we asked to ship the bottles. I took just a few days. Nice place to learn about the process of making , the types of, and tasting some port wines. I appreciate the variety and complexity of port wine a lot more. Was never a big fan of port wine , but now appreciated if more and can see my self sipping it once in a while after or before a meal and using it in some cooking.

We had an excellent time at Porto Augusto's. The tour was excellent, we learnt more about port wine, wine and the entire process of making them and aging them in just an hour. Tried 8 different wines. We loved the 40 year old white port and took a bottle with us to Paris and enjoyed it in the garden overlooking the Eiffel Tower. If you're in Porto and looking for the best port wine, come to Augusto's.

Nice and short wine tasting experience! They are a family winery. We did the cellar tour plus wine tasting that was of 15 euros. The tour/explanation was approx 15-20 minutes and tasting of three port wines. Overall it took about an hour. If you buy a wine, you can avail a 10 euro discount on the price. The guide was kind and kept the explanation short and precise which is easy to understand for everyone. One suggestion:For the tour, you can only pay in cash, this should have been mentioned on the online booking confirmation email, so we would have come prepared with cash. Although the ATM was also nearbuy, so not a big issue.

Having visited other more popular cellars such as Calem, I am very glad we opted for this smaller family owned business. One of the less than 3% Porto cellars that are 100% Portuguese owned, this cellar only produces around 40 thousand bottles a year, which is roughly the same amount the bigger cellars produce a day. The tour was incredibly less crowded than the others, and the tour guide’s (thank you Sonia!) explanations were crisp clear, very good English, and knew all the responses to our multiple questions. Furthermore, price wise it is unbeatable. You pay €5 per person for the booking, and then €10 in cash upon arrival which you can then use as a discount per product you use. Important note here, to avoid confusion, if there is 2 of you, you cannot get the €20 discount on a single product. The discount is applied only once per product. So you would need to buy at least 2 products to get the €20. Also, additional wine tastings do not count as a product, but the tasting is for free if you end up buying the bottle. For that reason, I would recommend trying one of the more vintage or premium Porto’s. We tried the 40 year old white and red. Totally worth the price, if you don’t want to splash out on a whole bottle of that level. Overall an incredible experience, very personal one as well, and amazing value. I would recommend it to family and friends but not to everyone else so that it does not get overcrowded for the next time I come ;)

We did a tour of the cellars and it was fantastic. We chose this cellar as it had great reviews. There are many other wine cellars in the area and longer tours but this is the only independent and family owned one. You could tell the love the family has for their business during the presentation and there was a lot of information given a short space of time. The tour also includes a tasting of three ports and your entry fee can be used to get a discount if you wish to purchase anything. Highly recommend, even for those who don’t drink.

Everything you could ask for in one place! The wine tasting experiences are amazing. I’ve been twice, and both Rafael and Mariana were not only incredibly knowledgeable about the history of port wine, but could not have been nicer and more welcoming if they tried. Both of them made these experiences A+ for my friends and I. The rooftop is also a lovely spot to hang out and enjoy the views of the city from the other side of the river. Very hip place with great drinks. I’ll be coming back here for both the wine tasting endeavors and to get my rooftop drinking fix in. Great spot.

Top location in Gaia directly at the Duoro River. We had the best port wine tasting of the whole vacation. Taste top and also the chocolates served were first class. Equally great is the rooftop bar with great views of the Duoro, beautiful sundowner spot, great DJ and good drinks. We also had a private dinner, the food was very tasty and the service was top. The room with private balcony was very nicely decorated, also here the sunset was great to watch. Conclusion: A clear visit recommendation!

The wine tasting was great! We got to know some history and facts. We spent some time trying the drinks and in fact even heard one more story from the table nearby where the guy also told more facts and some different info. The staff speak several languages for sure! It’s rather interesting and a must to try in Porto. You can choose different options for Porto tasting and even some snacks to go with it.

Porto Cruz are makers of exceptional Port wine, so it was only fitting that they also have an incredible space in which to enjoy it. Inside the multi level building there is a restaurant, rooftop bar, shop and I think a museum of sorts. The rooftop bar is a great place to soak in the breathtaking views of Porto, whilst enjoying their very own exclusive Port wine or one of the many cocktails on offer. The relaxed seating and DJ were a nice touch too. Staff are very helpful and on their game.

Found this rooftop bar by coincidence and expected it to be too fancy and crowded, however we were pleasantly surprised that it was a pretty relaxed vibe and we managed to find a seat. They have a lot of drinks on offer - a good selection of cocktails too and the view is amazing - you probably can’t find a better rooftop on this side of Porto. The prices were reasonably and the staff was friendly.

This rooftop terrace blew me away! We did not expect to find such a gem, just by accident. The DJ was very good and played the perfect rooftop terrace chill dance music. We had the Coconut Cruz and Smooth Cruz cocktails and were very pleased with them. 🍷 The view was so unique and the guests were all different ages. We’ll be back!

Along side the river you have several occasions to taste some port. This one has a great view and a nice lounge terrace. You can taste the different ports, enjoy a variety of cocktails with port. We went for the tawny version. And had a port and a cocktail and enjoyed the music and the views.

This was the best roof top bar scene to the most breathtaking views of the river front and the old Town of Porto on the other side of the Duoro. Drinks were great too, recommend trying a Porto Tonic to complete the experience. Picture perfect spot, fun vibe, and a highlight of our trip.

Great wine tasting spot!! I got the “prova origens do sabor” flight that comes with chocolate. If you like Porto, you’ll love this. And the chocolate was delicious. Only downside is that the experience is supposed to come with some sort of explanation but my server didn’t speak English well so I missed out on that part.

Great place to have a different view of the city. I tried it by night and got an amazing view of the Luiz 1 bridge and the Douro. It is the perfect place for a cocktail made of Porto Cruz (alcohol free available) while enjoying nice music.

Enjoy the river view at the rooftop. Queue is long but it took us around 20 mins. Music is quite loud but it is a bar so not their false. They control the queue so it is not too crowded when you get there. Most of the spot for your photo with the bridge are taken if you get there almost sunset time.

Our discovery of Espaço Porto Cruz was a fortunate accident, prompted by our desire to escape the bustling, touristy street. We inadvertently ended up on the rooftop, a separate bar, but it was the fourth floor that truly impressed us—an exquisitely decorated and well-managed restaurant. To be honest, I expected our bill for our party of three to be much higher. The food was not only delicious but also presented with impeccable service. A pleasant surprise awaited us at the beginning of the meal when each of us received a complimentary glass of 10-year-aged port. Our waiter, whose name escapes me, was outstanding. He indulged my attempts at practicing Portuguese, patiently answering questions and engaging with my linguistic endeavors. Every dish we ordered was a delight, and the desserts were equally delectable. What stood out most was the serene ambiance of this restaurant compared to the bustling tourist street it's situated on. I wholeheartedly recommend Espaço Porto Cruz for a delightful dining experience in Porto.

Porto Cruz is a great space for drinks, specially if you want to have the classics Porto Tonics. Also it is a hot spot for the view. I recommend going at night. The only wierd and bad thing is that it close very early, even at summer time, around 12.

Amazing rooftop bar in Porto with fantastic 360 degree views, the best service we have experienced in Porto, great bar food and atmosphere/music!!! The waiters are incredibly attentive and not pretentious given the setting. Music on point and both drinks and food well priced and of excellent quality. The panoramic views of Porto, the Douro river and the bridge cannot be beaten. Fantastic find!!!! And so so relaxed!!!!

Hands down, my favorite port! The Dos Corvos 20-year white is simply fantastic! Many more brands are starting to produce aged 20-year whites, but none come close to Dos Corvos. They offer older varieties as well, all superb, but still the 20 white is my favorite. This is a small boutique family-owned business and only sells at their quinta, which makes it all the more special! Even though I had visited twice before, I still learned several new things on the tour (thanks Carole!) and was delighted with the tasting. I absolutely recommend a visit to Quinta Dos Corvos and don't miss the 20-year white!

Got approach by a guy with flyers and took a punt on it as was told they only sell their wine in Porto or online. I think their ports are my favourite the ruby and lbv plus 98 vintage are smooth wines not over powered by alcohol or oak as others can be. Venue is nice and large.

I LOVED IT. Honestly. Claudia was our guide in this 30 minutes tour explaining the wines and we received the best treatment. Also it is a good price (10€ x person) and you can taste two glasses of wine🍷. We bought also more wine to take to our city and because we couldn’t more because of the travel conditions😞✈️ But I highly recommend to come here if you really want to taste good Portuguese wine and if you want to know more about the process of the wine! Even if you are not a wine lover you will enjoy🥰🍷 There are different hours in which you can do the visit and you can do it in Spanish (as mine) or English🥰

A very nice visit into an independent Porto winery ! Our guide Linda provided us with clear explanations and a thorough presentation on the products of their making. The tastings at the end left us with the sweetest aftertaste to pursue our trip. A must-see !

We walked by and incidentally saw Quintos dos Corvos offered a 10 euro tour with a tasting of two port wines - a white and red. If I remember his name correctly, we did the tour with Alfredo (apologies if I got the name incorrect) who lead the English tour. He spoke clearly, calmly, and explained things extremely well. He also had a bit of a sense of humor behind his impeccable professionalism. Very happy that we did this tour. Felt at home with this Portuguese family producer. One downside is that it was quite busy when we were there, and it got very loud due to the other guests, which made it more difficult to hear the guide, especially in the tasting room upstairs. It also got quite hot and a bit stuffy in that room, otherwise we would likely have stayed longer to try some other ports, and possibly been convinced to buy to take home. We have been passing by this place today for some time and decided to stop by today. It was truly a wonderful experience. Our guide was Alcine and she was very informative. We tried 2 if the ports as part of the tour and tasting and also tried a few more. The tasting was €10 and you get back €5 towards and purchase. If you try more tastings, you get credit if you purchase the port. The ports were amazing and needless to say, we purchased several of the ports. We look forward to coming back again.

Small family winery. Not as crowded as the big brands' houses on the riverside. We had a very nice tour, our guide told us everything about wine making and answered our questions. He was a real expert of port and other wines as well. Nice place, I can only recommend.

I have been converted into a port fan after my experience here! They ports are well balanced and not overly sweet. I was also pleasantly surprised by the white port, which I hadn’t heard of before. They are wonderful! We did the tour of the caves as well. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly! The history of this port house is very interesting. I would definitely recommend the tour and a tasting beyond those included in the tour!

Definitely a must-visit for wine enthusiasts! We partook in a tour of the museum and wine cellars (€20 per person, March 2024), which was remarkably enlightening, thanks to the captivating exhibits and our guide, Angela. The tour concluded with a delightful tasting session featuring white, ruby, and tawny port-wines. We then indulged in additional tastings, including the standout 2005 vintage ruby and Adriano White Reserva, which were our personal favorites.

Nice place and good wines, but the visit is a bit poor: I missed more detail about how the do the wine, and when they serve the different wines, they miss detailed explanations about them, and what is more important, something to clean the mouth between different wines (like grapes or apples)

We had a nice tour experienced today, the museum and wine cellar tour was interesting. Our tour guide was the guy with eyeglasses (I forgot his name) he did explain clearly the necessary information regarding Ramos Pinto, he gave us enough time to look around, and to ask questions even though he’s a bit stressed. The wine tasting at the end was also good with kind servers. I recommend! We did not reserve, we just walked-in and had a place immediately.

Wonderful service! We just wanted to do a tasting and we chose the “Beginner” and the “Expert” to avoid too much overlap in wine. All the ports were lovely, the service was great. We had a talk from our waiter about how the ports were made and why they were different and overall, we had a really lovely experience and ended up buying a bottle!

The separate tasting room led to a more enjoyable experience where we could ask questions more easily. The 90 minute tour and tasting ended up lasting 3 hours and 30 minutes. For a special treat, try the Graham’s 40 Year Old Tawny!

One of the best place to have port wine tasting. The staff are so friendly and accommodating he gives us recommendations of which wine we should taste as a first time drinker. He explained in detailed and clearly the difference of each wine and how to drink it better. We arrived late as we had so much time spending the other places in Porto luckily we still make it. Their closing time is till 18:30 we missed the tour but you can see some parts where they store the wine barrels. It was fun to see how big the barrels are.. 😂

We attended for a tour which we enjoyed with our guide Sara and we well looked after during the Port tasting part of the experience. Would highly recommend if looking to find out more about the history of Port, the region and this brand.

Excellent guided tour with much background information about the art of portwine making. Breathtaking walks during the cellar and lovely staff. You can book a tour with a tasting at the end, starting from 20 € per person depending on the type of tasting you choose. Booking is done via the website and they reply quickly. Very happy and would definitely recommend it!

Extremely friendly and responsive personnel. I was there only for port tasting and it was great. People assisted me with information on how to order bottles to an EU country when they have no official reseller yet. And also spent some time explaining to me the best conditions to drink certain types of port wine (e.g. easy drinking ones, the ones that are good with cheese and meats, etc). Will definitely come back and order bottles for my home :)

Porto is very famous of Porto wine and to do a wine taste tour is always on the top of the list. We chose Cockburn to do our wine tasting base on a recommendation from a friend, we are very happy we came here as after our trip we figured Cockburn is one of the top brand in the entire Portugal and they are collaborating with several Europe prestigious royal families to supply their wine too. First , before you came, please book a tour on their website , and they have different options. We in the end chose the premium wine tour cost each of us 40euros , which is definitely worth it. There are cheaper option too. They are actually quite popular and it is possible they might not accept your booking, so try to book the tour in advance and plan your time ahead. Second, how to reach here, is either by taxi or you can drive here, they have plenty of parking spaces, though the way to drive here definitely a bit challenge , but this is Porto, driving is always a headache. Third , the wine tour itself took around 1h+, including a very detailed explanatory tour to show us the wine storages, their wine collection and how the wine can age and change its note and flavors and in the end of the tour, they offered us three glass of premium Porto wine which for the very first time I started to appreciate and love the taste of red wine , they are sooooo good. After that they have a shop selling their wine products , we bought quite a lot of bottles as we want to share with our family and friends of the good wine. They have delivery service within Europe. Overall experience is very pleasant and happy.

An amazing, must do, wine tour when visiting Porto. The host was highly knowledgeable and was able to provde so much info and answer every single questions asked, the tour lasted an hour then some wine tasting afterwards, which was absolutely delicious. would certainly recommend this!

I did a English guided tour in Cockburn's facilities in Gaia during my visit to Porto. a great experience trough the cellars and museum, learning about the barrels, coopers and of course Port wine! the tour ended with tasting 3 different wines and the ability to try more at the bar and buying some bottles from their shop! special thanks to Francisco, our guide! he's exceptional at what he's doing and also helped me with information I needed, answering all my questions!

Great tasting experience! We had three tawny ports and the port ice cream. They were all absolutely excellent. The employees were highly knowledgeable and passionate about their port. We loved our time there.

We did a tour/tasting with chocolates very tasty, very reasonable and very interesting and informative. The tour was a little slow to begin with but just got better and better the guide was very good. Seeing the coopers at work and learning about the barrels was very interesting.. The port and chocolate was very tasty. Really nice place well worth a visit book in advance and enjoy. Give yourself a little extra time to get there as there is a fair hill to walk up from the River Douro but it's worth it.

We had port cellar tour for 90mins. The cellar is since 1815. It’s huge big. There are a lots of barrels and all about port wine. It was fun to hear the history and taste different ports. The oldest one was 1861. Amazing!

I went for 3 port wine tastings in Porto and Cockburn's experience was the best. The lodge is full of different types of port and the guide showed us many different storage rooms. The tasting was also very good with nice chocolate pairing. You can also buy port wines once your tasting is done. But purchasing there does not mean you buy at a cheaper price. You can buy the same wines online at equal or even cheaper prices.

We had an English language tour of their facilities today and had Francisco as our guide. He was absolutely delightful and very engaging on our tour!! They should pay him more money (or give him more port). Before this trip I thought I didn't like port. Turns out I just didn't like the swill that eventually makes it to America. But *this* is absolutely beautiful and I can confidently say I love port now. ❤️❤️❤️ We are currently sitting upstairs still enjoying our tasting and just couldn't be happier with our decision to come tour here today.

Great experience, in my opinion a must do when going to Porto. Cockburn does great informative tour, available in many languages, very nice and king staff and great wine taste. Also you can buy wine there as they have a small shop. Definitely recommend!

I am living in Porto And I've been traveling all over the country I am from Chile And I found Portugal so interesting It's like, you will never gonna see everything Full of culture, gastronomic wonders, architecture and much more. Thia chapel is very close to the train station Miramar From Porto you get a ticket of 2€, very cheap, and actually you can take the twain in São Bento Station in the center of Porto. It took like 20 minutes to get there, which is nothing. I personally found the way to this place very easy. It is incredible to think that this beautiful place was built here next to the sea and in the rocks. The views are amazing. There is access to chairweels until the sand and then a distance of 50 meters to get to the chapel and it's only sand. The church is located near the beach. It is quite unique. It is beautiful. You can enter to the church for free. You can walk between the stones and see big waves there. We saw some candles there. Great. Thank you

One of the most beautiful places near Porto. With a bike it's almost 50 Min, all flat, very easy to do! The capela is stunning and very unique. You can also arrive here with a bus from Porto. Near you can find bars and things to have a coffe and snacks.

Nice place to visit, lovely beach with some nice rocks near the sea to wander in between. The chapel itself is interesting to see, and quite pittoresk.

Wonderful semi-secluded monastery, on a clif on the beach. We watched the sunset from there - purely beautiful. The chapel was closed at that time, but definitely unquie in its ancient features and location.

Visited on a foggy day, it sits on the beach like a mirage, one has to walk across on sands to get here. Simple chapel but maintained by friendly people. Back of the chapel provides a great view of the ocean and nearby beach. If the weather is good should be great place for sunset.

Unusual place. A must to see if you are staying in the area and only 15 minutes away from Porto. The chapel is located by the sea and offers a unique view. It is best to go there when the sky is clear and the weather is nice. Perfect for a sunset too 👍🏼

A nice tinny chapel in the middle of the sand. The entrance is free of charge. Great view with the beach, the sea behind gives it a great atmosphere. Really good spot for photos, great place to chill at the beach or to walk along the path. Located 20 minutes from the city center. There's a metro going down there or just take a Uber (15-20 minutes) charging you around 13-15 euros.

A few hundred metres off the beaten track, but worth it. It's the oldest port cellar in Porto. They have multiple tours every day in different languages, I'd recommend calling in advance to check timings for your language. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Our tour was led by a passionate guide. The €10 ticket gets you a 20 minute tour of the cellars along with the history and production of port, and a tasting of 3 different ports. Highly recommended if you're in Porto.

Worth visiting for a port tasting and some cheese even if you don't do a tour. We enjoyed the croft experience tasting for €15 each which included a pink, reserve and a tawny. The port was delicious and well worth a visit.

Visited Croft Port for a guided tour and wine tasting of three selections. The tour guide we had was very professional and engaging. However, the tour itself was quite short and a bit disappointing. Could be improved by e.g. collective participation in the tastings of the Ruby and Tawny at the end of the tour instead of picking up a glass each and resorting to separate tables. Additionally, better recommendations and advice on the purchasing of accompanying chocolates to the port wines for tasting would improve the experience. All in all, it was a good visit. The prices for their different offerings were reasonable. Just a tip: try their chocolates with the wines!

Very delicious port wines. Tour (12€) includes three wine tastings. Very informative, but not too long. Nice atmosphere and not too crowded as further away from the main road. Staff very nice and helpful. Tour for children available at 5€, including delicious grape juice and biscuits.

Much more chill than Taylor’s. Fewer people and better service. We got a flight of rose port, ruby port and 10-yo tawny with sea salt chocolate pairing. It was sensational! The salt transformed the port and took it to the next level.

Nice zoo, very clean and large enough to spend a few hours there. Easy to park and to drive to. Not too crowded. The 'night animals' in a separate building are very worthwhile watching, I had never seen bats that close and as they are behind glass, there's nothing to worry about. If you're lucky you can see the lions from very close through the glass tunnel. There's a large picnic area with a small playground for little children. Given that the entrance fee is not too high, I can recommend it for sure if you're somewhat nearby or if you're visiting Porto and want to spend the afternoon in a pleasant leisurely way.

Great zoo, with large spaces for the animals, they seem well treated. Coffee shops are spread across the zoo, you’ll never be too far from one. The giraffes are breathtaking, sat aceros their spot and enjoy watching them.

Nice zoo, not that big, but the animal areas are spacious. Bit weird that there is almost no public transport going to this zoo although probably not their fault. There's a nice panorama view over the city too when you walk all the way to the back of the zoo.

For some reason car park was closed so it was confusing to look for a place to drop a car. But the zoo is super cool, a lot of animals that all look healthy and happy, there is a place inside where you can pet lemurs, they literally jump over you.

Great experience. Zoo de Santo Inacio plays a great role in helping endangered species, and the animals look very happy even though a few of them, for example the tiger doesn’t have as many space as it should. But most of them do have space. The people who work there are very nice, and they treat the animals very well. There are so many animals to look at and to appreciate, and the best part is that you can see the lions napping on top of tunnel you can walk through.

I was at the zoo on the weekend. There was almost no line to buy tickets. It's very nice to walk in the park. I was most impressed by the giraffes and penguins. The animals look well-treated, it is clear that they have enough space in the enclosures.

There is a lot to see and the zoo is kinda big, there is even a lemur walk-in. The parking is big too and there are two of them. It's cheaper and convenient to buy the tickets online. There are snack bars and a restaurant inside or you can bring your own food because there is also a big area with tables and shade. There is also a playground for the kids and vending machines where you can buy coke and water. You can also see the staff feeding the penguins and there is a lion tunnel, the day I went I couldn't see the lion just the lioness.

The zoo could be better maintained, but that doesn't make an overall impression worse. A lot of different animals, kids are happy. The speaking raven is awesome.

A fun day with the family. But the kids were expecting to have a better view of the giraffes. The park was being fixed I guess. There were no elephants, nor bears, gorillas at this zoo, and a few animals that were displayed weren’t out. Probably asleep somewhere or inside. I just find the price a little too expensive not to be able to see all of the animals that are shown on there map.

A beautiful zoo with an excellent diversity of African, Asian and other rare animals, with good services, but it lacks cleanliness in need of more cleanliness, as it is suitable for families and children, and there is a savanna cafe with a wonderful view of the Douro River with fresh air breezes to take a rest and enjoy the beautiful view and in front of the giraffe cage.

A very beautiful zoo, well kept. There was an amazing light display in the evening, we came back to it on the same ticket.

Very nice place for family day but....depends on the weather...if you're planning to visit on the very hot day don't expect much...all animals will be sleeping[hiding]. There's lots of space with open areas, so I recommend taking a hat. Plenty snacks houses...

Very nice Monastery The Monastery of Serra do Pilar is a former monastery located in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, on the opposite side of the Douro River from Porto. The monastery is situated on an outcrop overlooking the Dom Luís I Bridge and the historic centre of Porto.

A must visit place in your visit to Porto. We took the cable car from the other end and landed near it. Then walked up to see the gorgeous views of the bridge, river and Porto. We loved it so much that we visited again the next day to watch sunset. The garden view as you walk up is also lovely. And the place gets lighted up at night. The monastery as such was closed when we went but the views were well worth the trek up the incline. There is also a metro station nearby. And lots of places to eat nearby.

Best view of Porto, on day time or on night time, not very crowded. When the weather good is, you can sit on the grass and chill. Loved that place

Honestly, do not go inside the monastery since there's literally nothing to see. However, I would definitely go there to enjoy the view of the city from outside the monastery. The view is incredible, especially at night!

Fantastic place to visit in Porto. Monastery is closed to public, but it situated on top of the hill and the are great views from viewpoint. It is very popular tourist attraction. Metro station is JARDIM DO MORRO, line D. Must visit place in Porto.

Monastery was closed when I arrive but the views from up there is well worth the long walk uphill. Maybe comeback in the evening to take pictures of sundown.

The monastery itself is temporarily closed but the outdoor area is free to access. And it has one of the most amazing views of Porto and a beautiful sunset. I visited on a Saturday eve, but it was still relatively empty and not many tourists. So spent an hour enjoying the sunset view😍 Must visit!

Unique building structure and apparently this is also one of the UNESCO sites. In the evening it looks nice from the outside

A beautiful monastery at the highest point above the hill garden. For the most gorgeous views of the city and the Bridge. There is 180 degrees view of the city. Recommended at and after sunset for the best clicks.

Serra do Pilar Monastery stands across the Douro river, just to the left when you cross the iconic Dom Luis bridge. It's visible from almost everywhere in Porto standing dramatically on top of the cliff. Portugal has many monasteries which are absolutely stunning, however this is not the case with this one. This one is one of those which is better from outside than inside. There's a small fee of 2 Euros to enter it, but after seeing others it is pretty underwhelming and in need of restoration. Contrary to that the views of Porto town across are the absolute best.
