Great experience - easy to get there with the Porto Metro. Staff was very kind and helpful. You get a nice photo of yourself in the cable car, all packed in a Porto touristic guide - only 10 euros. They have a nice souvenir shop too.

Quick but fun experience! Line can be long so consider buying your tickets online. Good news is the cable cars can seat something like 6 people so most groups ride together. The cars also move at a good pace keeping the line moving. We used the lift to ride from the rivers edge to the top of the historic bridge then walked across to Porto. Beautiful views all the way. Tip: 1) You can ride one way or round trip. 2) Lots of restaurants at the rivers edge.

The ride is €7 one way and lasts about 2 minutes. Depending on how busy it is, you may have to ride with others. It is cheaper to take an uber back to the top but I guess it’s nice to have crossed it off the list.

What a VIEW! Easy walk from the Sao Bento station to the bridge foe entry to the station. I had a Porto card so it got me a few dollars off the ride. I just went one way so I could walk back across the lower bridge. They try to sell you a picture of you on the cable car which I didn't purchase and they weren't pushy about it. Amazing views a fairly short ride, and felt very secure in the car.

It was a fun ride up and down with the cable car. After a long walk through Porto during summer and after crossing the bridge the cable cars seem to be the better choice than walking down. They also provide great views of the port wine harbour part of Porto and across the river side.

Cable car which is €7 single or €10 return to go up or down between the Ribeira. There is a cable car every minute and the journey lasts about 3 minutes. Well worth a visit if you do not want to walk and get great views too of the river.

The Caia Cable Car is a nice break from walking around the city. It offers a short trip along the river and provides a good view of the city. However, it's not cheap.

It's one of the best experiences in Porto to ride on Gaia Cable Car. It is clean inside the cable car. It allows people to have a larger view span around. I was lucky that on the return trip, I got it private without other passengers.

We booked a tour and the you get a wine tasting at the end in their bar. The tour was really interesting and with audio guides you can choose how much and what you wish to listen to. I recommend it. Then you can access the garden with the bar and the shop. The tour include the tasting of the 2 cheapest wine they produce. But if you want to eat something - even nuts- you have to order. We did not particularly like the shop, full of expensive merchandise. But the tour is indeed interesting.

I really liked that it was a self guided tour. That way you can go at your own pace and dive as deep into the details as suits your interests. And they do provide a lot of detail, covering Taylor’s history, the Douro Valley, and of course port itself from the vine to the glass. We concluded with the tasting in the lovely garden, serenaded by the resident rooster and peacock. We supplemented the tasting with a 20 year tawny port (wonderful) and a selection of cheeses, olives and bread with olive oil from their estate (we’re taking a bottle home). Most enjoyable.

Enjoyed a self guided audio tour at the home of Taylor Port, established in 1692 - followed by a Port tasting and glass of wine afterwards in the well appointed gardens overlooking Porto! We’re also introduced to a chilled white port and tonic water which was amazing! Highly recommend. Staff were professional and friendly - a wonderful way to “Wine down” after exploring the busy streets of Porto below! For an enhanced experience, plan a late afternoon to enjoy a spectacular sunset on a good day!

We only took part in the tasting of Port on the veranda and really enjoyed the experience. The staff were very welcoming and informative. The family of peacocks were really putting on a show with plenty of family drama. It was early February but warm in the sun and the magnolias were blossoming. I appreciated the insect hotel exhibit and the port was amazing.

As a non-drinker, my first visit to a wine cellar was uncertain territory. But at Taylor's, the experience was unexpectedly delightful. Their self-guided audio tour allowed me to explore at my own pace, although I stumbled momentarily when I missed an audio session. The tour covered the company's history and the nuances of port wine impressively, with great photo opportunities along the way. The tour concluded with a beautiful garden for wine tasting, accompanied by impeccable service. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend this unique experience.

This is not just a place to taste port wine BUT an experience! We went later in the afternoon and the sunset was magical. The gardens were lovely and the wine- well good enough to toss some clothes to make room in the suitcase! A true treasure and so thankful we were advised to visit. The peacocks that greeted us were a bonus.

The tour was amazing as it tells you everything about port wine making and its history. One part was about smelling the different aromas that port wine could have. The tasting was in a beautiful garden with a peacock and a rooster joining joining in. Highly recommended! The only negative point was the rude receptionist that was yelling at guests as soon as they step in. We thought about instantly turning around and leaving but luckily we didn't.

While we were having holidays in Porto, we wanted to visit a winery which was not too far from the city. We went to Talyor's and it was an absolutely great choice! More toward a museum like, yet with great fun and information, we thoroughly enjoyed all the time with an audio guide. Wine tasting at the end in a beautiful garden was the grand final. Strongly recomended!!

Taylors port lodge - Self guided tour which was very interesting and informative of the entire history of Taylor port wine. Followed by port tasting and light lunch in their beautiful garden where peacocks wander - excellent quality food and service.

Loved the self guided tour. The pinnacle of the tour happens towards the end where you are served wine on a gorgeous terrace with peacocks walking around you. Really a much recommended experience in Porto.

Took an audio tour here for 20 euros per person. Was very informative and lots to see and here about. Really nice to see in the caves and get a whiff of the angels share. Nice place to sit at the end to enjoy your two glasses of port. And a can of chip dry and tonic to take away with you. If it is sunny, the gardens will be beautiful to sit in with a nice glass of port. Think we will be looking for the two ports we tried at the airport on the way home. The staff in the tasting room were very polite and informative.

We had an absolutely delightful experience at Graham's Porto. The tasting room is situated in a lovely spot perfect for enjoying an afternoon in the Portuguese sun. We sampled several of their port wine offerings and each one was more delicious than the last. The tawny ports were rich and complex, while the ruby ports were fruit-forward and bold. What really made our visit special was the exceptional service from the staff. They were extremely knowledgeable about the ports, walking us through the tasting notes and production methods. Their passion for the wines really shone through. We never felt rushed and they went out of their way to ensure we had a memorable experience. The tasting room itself has a warm, welcoming ambiance with a gorgeous view. It's the perfect place to relax and savor some of Portugal's finest ports. We can't recommend Graham's highly enough for port lovers or those looking for a quintessential Porto experience. We'll definitely be back on our next visit!

This is probably the best high-end, luxury Port wine tasting that we’ve done. You have to make reservations for the tour, with a great Port wine tasing at the end. Graham’s is probably our favorite Port wine, although we’re always discovering! Sometimes we’re in the mood for simple, cheaper Port wines. But when we want something really outstanding, we usually go with Graham’s.

Graham's has the most beautiful views to enjoy from their tasting room. The staff we encountered were not only friendly but also very knowledgeable. They always have a Vintage of the day available by glass for 10€ which is a great way to try a Vintage without committing to an entire bottle. There is a restaurant on the same property, Vinum, and it also has a cocktail patio to enjoy the breathtaking views. The walk up to Graham's is not as easy as some of the other port houses but it is worth it.

Amazing location, views and beautifully designed building and terraces…what a shame about the service! The terrace is split between dining and relaxed seating and almost segregates guests. We wanted to wait for dining but cannot snack or eat on the terrace (except for a couple of bites available). No table service, you wait at the bar for your drinks that you pay for before taking your own drinks back to the seating. No update on the table so after 2 hours of waiting we left. A real shame as the setting is amazing and well thought out! It could be so great!

The best best wine you could even imagine. Port wine is super tasty and delicious. I love everything about their winery. The guy who gives us tour, explained everything perfectly, he talked about all the details and history. It was my first experience at the winery and I enjoyed it a lot. They have port wine made by six grapes and that was my favorite. At the end of tour we tried 3 different wines and I loved all of them. I shopped wines from their stores for my American friends and they loved it.

Graham's is a top Port wine lodge in Porto. The tasting experience starts off with a video presentation that takes you through the history of the company and how it came to be one of the most iconic Port wine brands today. You are then guided on a tour of the active cellars, right in amongst all the barrels and vats of port wine. It's dark, musty and a delightful experience. The tour guide gives more information about the wines and answers any questions along the way. To end off the experience you are taken to the tasting room where you can sample all of the port wines you learned about. Each from different ages and prices. Add to this some cheeses and tapas and you have a very enjoyable experience that not only teaches you all about the port wine industry but allows you to sample all the wines before you buy. The terrace is a love spot to enjoy a light meal and more wine (as you now which one you prefer and can confidently order more), and features a sweeping view of the beautiful douro river and city of Porto.

Very nice port wine cellar, on the Gaia side of Porto. The location is on the mountain with a great view of Porto. Noble ambience and very nice garden. In addition, class wines and friendly service. Unfortunately, we had too little time, we would have liked to stay longer. If we visit Porto again, we will come back!

We visited Porto for a couple days and Graham's was our favorite Port Lodge that we visited of the many that we tried. We visited from the USA and wanted to try lots of the bigger port houses that distributed in the USA so we could buy some when we got home and didn't want to worry about shipping or traveling back with bottles in our suitcase. Graham's is one of the most historic port lodges and everything about the tour & tasting was top notch. I went in thinking I liked the older Tawny's but after leaving gained a much greater appreciation for the classic Ruby's after learning about them and tasting them. We bought some of the 2017 vintage bottles at home and plan to cellar them for a very long time. When we finally enjoy them in the future we'll look back fondly on our visit to Graham's Port Lodge.

Very enjoyable tour of Grahams port cave including tastings. You’ll learn a lot about how they make port and where it’s cultivated. Impressive venue that includes very old bottles under lock and key. Worth the $ to see this place.

Graham’s wine tasting was a very pleasant experience! Our guide was very knowledgeable and excited about wine. He was able to answer all our questions in a funny and informative way. The tasting itself was nice, we went for the vintage room which had much nicer vibe than the main tasting room and the wine was tasty! We went to Graham’s in September, but I felt like I wanted to write a review as we really enjoyed our time in there.

What an experience!! A morning tour and tasting became lunch at Vinum. The walk there is all uphill and the signage can be confusing to get to the tasting reception, which is at the rear of the the venue. However once inside, I was spoilt with the history and passion behind Graham's which I was unaware of. We were blessed to have Monica as our guide who is a fountain of knowledge, but second to her passion, love and enthusiasm for Port that she's happy to pass on to anyone that will listen. She did our tour in immaculate English and she's an asset to Graham's and their establishment. This is worth the time that you can spend here and there was not a single bad port out of the 7 tasted. The history, passion and attention to details and perfection is passed along from the brand, put into bottles and inherent in their staff. Service was good at the tour, tasting and restaurant. Regarding pricing seen in a previous review, I took photo's of prices of the bottles I wanted at other stores I went past in Porto prior to this tasting, and found the pricing cheaper per bottle at the on site shop. If you're passionate about heritage, life and Port, then please visit and hope that you get Monica as your guide!

The place and the guide are nice. However, you won't learn much about the Porto wine. It would have been interesting to get more explanations on the harvesting, blending and other processes... Instead of showing the company "catalog", I am sure there are wonderful photos and videos to share.

Overall good experience, but nothing over the top. The place is actually small. The visit starts with a small museum, followed by then entering the caves where you can see the barrels. The tour guide was friendly and provided detailed information about the history, composition, and preservation of the wine. The tour concludes with a wine tasting experience, with the option of trying either three or two wines, depending on the package you choose.

Visited here as part of a yellow bus package which also included a river cruise and a hop on hop off bus for 2 days which was only €18 per person really good value. You will need to book a tour to ensure a place and that it is in your own language. The tour was good and lasted about an hour and a bit. It was interesting and informative we got to taste 2 ports which were lovely. Well worth a visit nice tour guide and a nice place overall. Children are welcome and get soft drinks at the tasting.

Great tour with an entertaining host (who no doubt is bored of the same jokes every time but tells them well nonetheless!). This tour goes a bit more into what the different ports are and how they are made. Very informative and well worth the money. Honestly was a bit surprised because I thought it’s locations would lend itself to being a tourist trap but it’s actually excellent.

Tour was lovely, we did the English tour. You definitely get your monies worth! Their port wine here is some of our favorite. We ended up buying a bottle, the travel sized gift set, and a shirt all for under €40. Then went up to their tasting room and got two glasses of port wine for €8. Great prices!

Tour guide was very knowledgeable and enjoyable. Ports were amazing and I'm not much of a port drinker. Do yourself a favor and get the premium ticket... The extra 3 euros are worth it!

Relate to the guided tour, in my opinion it’s not worthy it. The tour takes place in basically two big rooms, the explanation takes forever, and our guide seemed a little lost. It looked like he had to keep talking to make it longer than it would be. The places are nice, you can see some stuff but nothing special. The group was too big so in certain moments we couldn’t see the projections because there was not room for us in front of it anymore. At the end we had a taste of the wine. But paying 15,00 euros for the ticket, I believe it could be better and the groups should be smaller. I recommend other caves than this one.

Was a great visit! The guide was very engaging and friendly! We were able to explore a little bit with caution and the tour was very informative. The wine tasting was fun and as a solo traveler I got to interact with people chatting over fantastic wine. We were taught how to taste it and what to look out for. You exit through a shop where you can buy authentic port wine ending off a great visit!

Porto Wine tasting with a lovely Fado concert, what else to ask? Just perfect! what a great venue. Wine tasting guided tour to know more about the caves, the porto wine production and how this marvelous experinece is done. Long family traditions, just a pure nectar, the vintage, the colheita, ruby or tawny, fantastic experience in Oporto.

Cute 30 minute tour with different pricing tiers (which affect which wines you will taste at the end and whether or not they will be paired with chocolate etc, its all clear pricing when you get to the ticket counter). The museum at the start was neat you get to wander around in there for 15 minutes before the tour begins. It was a bit cramped as we had a full tour of 48 people and a lot of the spaces we go into are not super wide. Comparing the tour with Ferreira caves I would say the advantage of this tour is that it is shorter (ferreira is an hour) so you do get to do the tasting earlier. Disadvantage of Calem tour is that theres less history shared about the family who ran the business, its more just a tour about production of port wine generally. Another plus for the Calem is that they do have a terrace out front with water view where you can just go either before or after your tour and order glasses of port as well as different tiers of tastings.

We popped in for a port tasting by ourselves, not in a group. We chose the basic port tasting for €17, which was a good value for a dry white, ruby, and tawny port. Our tasting guide explained the tasting notes for each port. The tasting room is beautiful and was quiet at the time we were there.

Short but fun tour. I didn't know much about how Porto was made and still had a fun time learning about the process. The best part is of course the tasting. You sit around a table with the other visitors. We stayed for an hour discussing with strangers and it was a very fun exchange. We ended up buying 3 Portos to bring back home. I think this is an activity anyone would find fun to do.

I was positively surprised by this. The tour was interesting and while a little cheesy with the don outfit it was entertaining and the guide was open to any questions related to port. The tasting was good too - great to taste a few options side by side. Wish the chocolate tasting tour wasn't as expensive, though - would've loved to try that but not at €60.

Visited in early January, after the Holidays, so we were able to get same day tickets for the English tour. Would recommend online booking days in advance during busy season. Definitely a different experience. My husband owns a winery in the USA, and we've done countless winery/brewery/distillery tours across the USA, with many of our friends owning businesses in the industry. Many of these group tours can end up being boring for us as we know the process well, and our questions are a bit in depth for the average tourist. However, we wanted to see Port in person and a new Lisboeta friend we met over NYE told us this is the one we should go to out of the countless on the same strip. And we are very glad we did! Getting the background of this very different Port Cellar and seeing the barrels in person was possibly the best we've done yet! Our tour guide was funny and knowledgeable. Plus, the gift shop was very reasonably priced! Such a pleasant surprise coming from the USA where usually trinkets are way over-priced then you can get elsewhere on these tours!

We We’re staying nearby & after reading a couple of guidebooks, decided this was the best port lodge tour for us. We opted for the 1790 tour which lasts about an hour, after which, you get to taste 6 different Sandman port wines. The tour itself was interesting and informative. Our guides English was good, he was knowledgeable and entertaining. I can recommend this tour.

The tour was good and a good price. I would buy online before. People tried to walk in and weren’t able to get in because the tour was full. The tour is a good length only about an hour and then the tasting after is pretty quick. Also if you take the time in the morning but the later one just know you will be hurried out because the places closes for lunch. So when we went we didn’t have a long time only like 20 min. You get three tastings at the end and it’s good then you can go through the store. I probably wouldn’t return only because there are so many to see but it was good.

Decided to have a break from drinking so popped in for a couple of Ruby Ports. Oldsters like me remember Orson Wells advertising this Port at Christmas.. met group from our home village...young people! Lovely outdoor area.

I couldn’t visit the power wine cellar. We didn’t book in advance . However I have tried their amazing wines. The tawny which is aged 20+ years was amazing. The Ruby was also just as good as that. You will fall in love with Porto if you taste these amazing wines.

Nice Port wine cellar in Gaia, just across the Duro river from Porto, Portugal. This was our second favorite cellar to visit, behind Ferreira. They have a nice outdoor seating area where you could order drinks while waiting for a tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered several questions. Did you know that Vintage Port can still age well even when bottled?

Before coming to Porto, my knowledge regarding Porto wine was limited to Calem. Me and my wife wanted to visit a wine cellar and were intrigued by the silhouette of Sandeman looming over the quays. And what a good visit ! For 17€, we discovered the chilly wine cellars and had a taste of 3 different portos (all of them delicious). We loved it !

I’ve sat outside on a chilly evening enjoying two glasses of port. Tawny from recommendation of the barman and then a ruby. Waiters are knowledgeable and provide world class service. It was hands down the best service I received in Portugal. Make sure you pop in for a tasting of their own port while enjoying the view!

Great tour we did book in advance before our trip. We got in right away, we loved the service , the experience , seeing some very interesting items and finally tasting our port wines! Truly delicious. We loved sandeman!

Took the English tour which lasted abt an hour and the sample tasting for 10Y, 20Y, 30Y and 40Y Tawny. Informative session on the difference between Tawny and Ruby as well as the history of it. Love port wines. If you have no time to visit Douro Valley, this cellar visit is probably the next best alternative since it is conveniently located.

We picked The 1790 Tour (25€ per person) and it was everything we hoped it would be and even more. From amazing and compelling stories about history of Sandeman brand, to the very informative and inspiring tasting of five great port vines - it's a deal straight out of heaven. Another highligh was Miss Aniela, our fellow countryman, who did an absolutely amazing job leading the tour and making it that much more interesting. Like said before - for 25€ it's not a deal, it's a steal!

Great tour, I only took the basic tour and tasting, the fancier aged port taste and tours in English are all booked solid for the next week. Plan ahead if you want those.

The tour itself was both informative and entertaining, with knowledgeable guides leading us through the fascinating history of Sandeman and the art of winemaking. The highlight, of course, was the generous wine sampling session that followed. They didn't hold back on the pours, and I left with a newfound appreciation for the rich flavors of Porto wines. One thing to note is that the alcohol content in some of the wines was surprisingly high, so if you're a light drinker, pace yourself. However, for those who appreciate a robust and full-bodied wine, you're in for a treat. The outdoor area for cocktails added another layer of enjoyment to the experience. The ambiance was relaxed, and it was the perfect spot to unwind after the tour. The selection of cocktails was impressive, and the skilled bartenders knew how to craft the perfect drink.

A great place to have good views of Porto and Ponte Luis I Bridge. The best time to be here would be during sunset but expect crowds. It seems steep to get to but it's not

I believe this is the best chance to get a good perspective of the bridge. The walk by the rear stairs is worthy if you prefer keeping yourself active. No costs for this visit. The place has being recently restored and offers a more comfortable stay while photoshooting the landscape. No costs added, just a great view.

Beautiful spot to watch the sunset and have a look out over the old city and the river. Around sunset people are gathering and taking a seat over the old fence, bring a beer and snack for a perfect experience, and come early enough to have a good spot. In addition it's become a bit chilly also in summer so take a top or something.

Probably the best view you'll get in Porto. The scenery here during sunrise or sunset is stunning. I take back anytime. Just come here if you're in Porto. One of the must go to places. Here are pics to prove it.

A bit of a climb up to the top, but nothing too strenuous for most, you can get great views of Luis bridge, the Douro river and Porto from this vantage point. If you don't feel like walking up, you can pay for a vehicle to take you up. The elevated spot is close to the bridge and definitely worth going up for great elevated views when admiring the bridge.

This is the best place for sunset and is only a short walk up the hill from the entrance. There's seating available, but standing along the railings provides fantastic views around and across to Porto.

Great vantage point for the city and duoro river. Parking is also available nearby if you are driving there. Can get by crossing the Luis Bridge or taking a metro otherwise.
