Alert ⚠️ slippery floors and streets. Can not emphasize enough how careful you need to be when walking through the whole city. Marble paving and rocks throughout the whole city. It was an amazing experience I did not expect. Learning the local stories of this place and relearning what you are taught in school.

It was a nice experience. Something unique, beautiful place. You can feel the history. It was a bit hot, 40 degrees Celsius, but it was worth it. Museum pass awards discount in inside shops for coffee, water, juices etc.

Really enjoyable half day trip. Booked via our holiday company so had a guide who was very knowledgable. We were lucky that is was quiet, I can imagine it being really busy in peak season. Nicely leaked out and the museum was very good; it’s more of a cinema experience as you move through rooms with a 3D video that plays out around you If you are a bit unsteady on your feet then some of the walkways may be hard as you are walking on the marble that can be slippery. Slow and steady and you will be fine

This place is beautiful, well worth seeing. If you don’t get a tour guide I definitely recommend at least reading and watching a few YouTube videos about it beforehand just to be able to appreciate the significance of the theatre and the ancient city of Efes. I wasn’t impressed by the 70₺ audio guide. 120₺ entrance (April 2022) you can also enter with a museum card (70₺) if you are a resident or citizen of Turkey.

A place good to know the ancient history and make good photos. Need to wear good sneakers and a hat or cap as well as glasses to prevent the sunshine. Good for walking. Outside the museum got some shops and a market place to eat.

One of the largest archaeological sites in the world. A marvelous feat of architecture as it is situated in the best possible location for the best acoustic function. Don't forget....those times no digital technology was in operation....only mathematical thinking 🤔 well worth a visit 🙂

I’ve been to a lot of ruins but ancient ephesus is the best of all of them. The size is unbelievable. They have only excavated approximately 20% of this place and is still overwhelming. I would get there first thing as some days can be quite crowded. Make sure you wear good shoes and bring water.

It's very historical and fascinating. However the ticket price is outrageous!!! 40 euro for ruins?? I know it is historical and quite big (not so much) but the 40 euro is just too much. We didn't have a choice as we already arrive there, we don't want to go back just like that. The experience museum at the end was quite nice with all the video mapping and the staffs were kind and nice 🙂 (well for that price everyone should be nice)

A nice ancient attraction to be included during your trip. You will spend there 3-5 hours all around, with entrance fee free for students but normal guests 200tl.

One of the best historical sites you should see in Turkey. 🎭 This ancient theater has been preserved and maintained very well. It has a breathtaking view up facing the ancient ruins and beautiful forest 🌳 If you have a museum card which allows you to enter pretty much all museums in Turkey, you’ll be able to skip the long queue and yet will pay less.

Really cool to come and see in person!! It’s really big with so many steps. I think they put performances on there to. Great for taking photos. There are so many steps but be careful when walking around cause it’s really slippery. Overall really cool place to look at!

Is a mix roman-greek theatre. The whole ancient city is amazing. And a special guide like Ezra made it even more spectacular. Ephesus took the best from Rome and Petra and gave the traveller a complete and wonderful experience. Be aware of the highest temperature (+10 always from the seaside) took some water with you, and a good guide

Beautiful, historic, you can feel the ambient of an ancient city. Advice: dont go there during summer as is can be very hot! If you still go, be prepared with parasol, light white long sleeve shirt and a lot of water...

Must-see attraction when in the area! It exceeded my expectations. It would have been nice to visit with a guide but you can also ask for a free audio guide when buying tickets. It does get hot here but there are places to buy drinks and snacks on either end and also one place in the middle by the library. There are trees and spots throughout that help provide shade when touring. It is best to go early or late in the day. The only thing we wish they had was an evening hour in the summer where you could be there for golden hour.

I have to say this place was incredible. Way bigger than I thought with so much to see and was magical walking through this historic site. Definitely recommend to go check it out, but try to get there before the bus rush so you can have the place more to yourself and more quiet.

Amazing, very beautiful site. No waiting at the entry gate because we were early. No drone filming allowed without applying for permission in advance. The terrace houses is completely covered and cost extra, -1 for that.

Awesome structure. The magnificent theater of Ephesus is a beautifully preserved and very impressive building. This structure, built of marble, has a width of 145 metres, and the height reached up to 30 meters. When operating at full capacity, it could accommodate 24,000 spectators.

Amazing!! One of the most impressive ancient sites I have visited. The library is out of this world. We stayed for around 2/3 hours to properly see everything. The audio tour will provide you with some good information regarding the sites you visit. I would also recommend getting tickets for the Terrace Houses. We were so impressed by the frescoes and mosaics. Definitely worth the extra lira (if you buy the combined ticket at the gate, you get a little discount in comparison to buying the ticket inside).

This is a wonderful historical place to go in Turkiye. It’s near the one of the best places which has amazing beaches, Kuşadası and Izmir. You can visit easily in your holiday. And also you can visit numerous historical places in Turkiye. If you have more time, you should try to go the others.

Me and my husband visited with a tour guide who spoke to us about the history of Ephesus. It was a very cool place to see. We came during the colder months (January) and our tour guide said that was the best time just due to less crowds. We were able to take some pictures in front of the Library of Celsus with no people in the background.

Worthwhile place if you're a genuine believer, if not, it might feel like a grand hoax (read the history of founding up the place). However, if you're around, and ready to pay the 80 liras entrance (Jan2022) fee, the visit might be nice bonus for visiting the beautiful Ephesus area. The views along the streaming road upwards are precious.

This is a quick stop that guides take you to right before visiting the ancient city of Ephesus. Particularly for Catholics it's a very sacred place, as it is thought that the virgin Mary spent her last days in this house. No photos are allowed inside of the house. After walking through the house and paying respects, you can light up candles for prayers. There are also 3 fountains in a brick wall beside the path - there is a local legend that if you drink from all three and make a wish Mary will help make it come true. You can tie your wish to this wall at the end. As you leave there are many souvenir shops on route for religious trinkets and ornaments.

Beautiful spot in the middle of nature it has a little fountain and the shrine is renovated. But it is nothing special especially for all the way you have to drive up the mountain. I wouldn’t recommend this place, mainly because it’s too much hassle to get there.

The house was discovered in the 19th century by following the descriptions in the reported visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774–1824), a Roman Catholic nun and visionary, which were published as a book by Clemens Brentano after her death. While the Catholic Church has never pronounced in favour or against the authenticity of the house, the site has nevertheless received a steady flow of pilgrimage since its discovery. Anne Catherine Emmerich was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 3, 2004. Catholic pilgrims visit the house based on the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this stone house by Saint John and lived there for the remainder of her earthly life. The shrine has merited several papal Apostolic Blessings and visits from several popes including Paul VI, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI.

Very beautiful and tranquil place. Best month to visit is May. Pictures inside the house are not allowed. You will need around 1/2 to 1 hour max to see this place. You will need some paper and a pen if you want to put your wishes on the wishing wall.

The house of Virgin Mary is a must see when visiting Turkey. It was really neat to see it and drink the holy water and write wishes on the wall. It was a quick stop up the mountain with our tour guide before we headed to the Ephesus. You can’t take photos inside the house. There was free bathrooms and souvenirs and places to eat. Overall really cool must come visit!

Entry fee is high. Most of the people park their car near the gate, but there is parking near to house. It is a beautiful location like a house inside a forest. I liked the surroundings much with sounds of birds. Still i am thinking how virgin mary stayed there because it is on top of a hill.

This is a beautifully well preserved ancient Roman library, was the third largest of its kind and a must see in person! It's the most iconic building within the ancient city of Ephesus - and by far one of the most well known ruins in Turkey. The architecture is simply beyond exquisite and this was definitely my favourite ancient structure that I saw during my tour of Anatolia. There's lots of information posted inside the library, but it's even better to go in with a guide who will point out the key facts and better showcase some of the more interesting things to pay attention to.

Only the ruins of the entrance to the Library of Celsus remain. The exquisiteness of the walls and the sculptures on the roof are shocking. It is impossible not to sigh that the architectural skills and artistic achievements of the Romans more than 2,000 years ago were so splendid and magnificent. In the words of a friend, "If the library looked like this, I would want to go to the library every day without anyone trying to talk me out of it. It's very real!

A must visit place! The Ephesus ancient city is full of rich history. Suggest to get the audio guide or a walking tour guide with you to explain the history behind it. Celsus Library Ephesus, the fourth largest city of the Roman Empire has magnificent Roman structures that still preserve their glory after two thousand years. One of these spectacular buildings is the Library of Celsus which is counted as one of the biggest libraries of ancient times. Rome transitioned from a republic to an empire in 27 BC and continuously expanded its territories from Italy to North Africa. Modern-day Greece, France, southern Germany, and Turkey were also added to the empire’s vast land. Modern Turkey is full of well-organized Greco-Roman cities all around the country. Not only Ephesus but also some other ancient cities in modern Turkey such as Zeugma, Pergamum, Smyrna, Aphrodisias, Side, Aspendos, Pergamum, and Miletos are fine examples that reflect the splendor of the Roman Empire. The Library of Celsus in Ephesus is not only the most striking building in the city but also one of the landmarks of Turkey, too. Taking photographs is a nightmare as everyone wants a picture in front of it. Visitors are enchanted by the fine marble work of the ornamented facade as it shines brightly under the baking Aegean Sun. The library is located at the very heart of the city, attached to the monumental Gate of Mazeus and Mithridates that opens to Commercial Agora. What is interesting about this building is it is not only a library but a mausoleum as well, as it consists of the tomb of Gaius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus who had been consul in 92 AD and who was the governor of the province of Asia in 115. After his death, his son, Consul Gaius Julius Aquila had the library built in his father’s honor as we read from the inscription on the building’s front staircase. The library was completed in 135 AD and Celsus’ body was put in a white marble sarcophagus which was placed in a crypt beneath the building. When you enter the main hall, you will see an apse right in front of you and beneath the apse, one can see the burial room that contains the sarcophagus. Two storied façade is intensely ornated with 16 columns arranged in pairs. Columns at the center of the façade are shorter than the others which is an optical illusion giving the impression of greater size. A staircase with 9 steps leads to the facade of the Library. Lace-like marble work of the façade’s ceiling can be seen after climbing the staircase that takes you to the interior. The columns were richly decorated with the motifs of vegetation and mythological figures: Bellerophon riding Pegasus, a couple of Eros and Psyche darting from acanthus leaves, and the scenes of the life of Apollo and Dionysus. Besides, four female statues placed in the façade’s niches are also remarkable. They represent abstract concepts and under the statues are Greek inscriptions giving information about their characters of them. From left to the right are Sofia (Wisdom’), Arete (‘Virtue’), Ennoia (‘Insight’), and Episteme (‘Knowledge’). They are personifications of the virtues of Celsus but also of the virtues the life of high Roman officials should have had. The library was restored with the aid of the Austrian Archaeological Institute and the originals of the statues were taken to Ephesus Museum in Vienna in 1910.

Amazing! That’s the only word suits it. The ancient Greece to Roman cultures and Gods can be seen so close, we can feel it so strong. This ancient city is made from marbles which make it white and very very pretty. It is the best spot in Turkey in my opinion and I believe you will agree with me after being there yourself. The main building is the ruins of the ancient library called Celsus, but the surroundings are not less interesting too. It has alleys, theater, ancient rest room, roads, carvings, etc. Once again, amazing!

Plenty of things to see. The walk is around 2 kilometers and takes around 1.5 - 2 hours to complete. The library and the amphitheater are the highlights of Ephesus and are absolutely stunning. Tickets are 400 lira to enter and totally worth it. 100% recommend to go and visit this place if you’re in the area.

A very beautiful historical archaeological site where work is still ongoing. The area is large, and we went there with a guided tour. The tour guide provided us with very good information about the history. The modern Discovery Museum offers a great 20-minute video show that brings the city of Ephesus vividly to life. Tangible history in modern architecture! I would definitely recommend it. Unfortunately, many buses are already on-site in the morning, so it gets quite crowded.

Unbelievable place to visit. While you walk on the ways, you feel you really live in this place. It is like a time travel. Even though some stones and areas are damaged, you can still see, guess what was that. My suggestion to everyone to give a day to visit this place because it is pretty big and if you like historical places, you can catch more detail if you walk around slowly. Then you can visit the house of virgin Mary. I prefer to drive there, walking takes long time.

This place has great history and it is very well preserved. The only concern was the walkway needs to be more senior friendly as it is very slippery for them. There is a need to improve on that. But other than that, the history is very rich and very educating for your children. Highly recommended that you come here when you are in Turkey.

A place full of history, if you go by yourself don't forget to read about it, otherwise I would recommend to hire a guide. 😊 Better to come in the afternoon, around 4pm, it's not so crowded and you can take better pictures. Don't forget to bring water, use sunscreen and wear a hat. By the way, i came on Tuesday and it was very crowded, so most probably on weekends is crazy crowded. Enjoy it 😍

It's not every day that you get to see an active archaeological sight up close like this. It's a place I would love to come back and visit again in 10 years to see the progress and what else they have discovered. We did it with a guide, which added much value and context to what we were looking at, so I would recommend that—also, the earliest you can arrive, the better. When we arrived, it was quiet, but by the time we left, it was hectic.

A must see on your trip to Turkey. We took a tour through our cruise line - much worth it. About 2 hours. September weather was mid 90s and not much shade. Marble paths are very slippery, stay to the right, you'll find rock to walk on rather than the marble. Get a tour guide or you'll walk past many hidden secrets. The library is magnificent ruins and amazingly intact. Used to be the tour bus parking lot on top, until they excavated more. Medusa, Nikke - goddess of victory beautifully intact. Watch the excavators still at work.

I was here in October 2023. I came to the opening of this wonderful place on a weekend day. There weren't many people. By midday it was already crowded, with crowds of tourists and many tour groups walking around. It was quite hot, hardly any place to shelter from the sun. Despite this, I am pleased with the walk around the ruins of the ancient Greco-Roman city. It was very interesting and atmospheric. There is also a museum. I would have been interested in going there, but I paid a lot for the entrance fee and didn't have any money left for the museum.

I mean the place is full of history and I recommend to read the panels or have a guide for a deeper experience which we did have. We also had the chance to come just after a rainy day so, it was more cleaner "according to our guide". My main issue is the ticket price is quite expensive.

One of must see tour sight in Turkey! Highly recommended come here earlier in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowd. Please prepare for the heat in the summertime. Not suitable for small children and the elderly! Ephesus was founded in 10th century BC as an Attic-Ionian colony and is one of the best historical tourist attractions in Turkey & the world. It’s now one of the world wonders, because of it’s magical past & present, that the history books tell us about until today. Thus, it was one of the most important Mediterranean cities that mixing great culture, diversity, and civilization. Ephesus Turkey has a great history in Asia Minor in Romans time as more than 250,000 people lived here!

This important city in history was an extensive walk. However, I was glad that I could see what's still standing and in one piece after so many centuries. The colosseum is also something to behold from a distance. In this city, the message to the church was "you have left your first love." Revelations 2:1-7.

Really cool experience going through the ruins of an ancient Greek and Roman city. However, I strongly recommend coming with a local tour guide to walk you through the history, otherwise this place is hard to appreciate without any context.

We visited in late January on a cold, sunny afternoon. It was very quiet and we didn't have to wait too long. The Library of Celsius is the jewel in the crown of this location and is stunningly beautiful. Nearby are marble paved streets that were flanked by ancient shops, spas, and houses. To view the covered luxury houses, you have to pay a small amount extra (around £8) but well worth the visit to catch a glimpse of the palatial homes of the rich who once lived here. There are no toilets once inside the complex. There is a small museum shop and you can buy teas and coffees. There is a WC outside facing the entrance at the end of a row of shops to the left and they charge 10 lira. This may mean you have to exit the site to go to the bathroom! This was frustrating for several in our group. Plus, it is rather annoying to visit such a historical site like this without a toilet and where you have to leave and pay for a number 1 or 2....

I bought the €65 ticket including the terraced houses, Ephesus experience, Ephesus museum, and St John Basilica. It takes a good 3+ hours to visit this site so come early to fit in everything. Really enjoyed this visit. Even though it was expensive it was worth it - I can see they put in so much effort into restoration. I didn’t have time to visit the Ephesus Museum, sadly; I arrived at 11am and things close around 5pm in winter. Download the free app for a free audio guide - bring your earphones for this. I visited during March (winter) and there were few crowds. Bring a hat because it’s quite sunny even when I went during winter. There’s little shade because there aren’t any trees.

As an urban planner, this was like a magical experience. I could re-imagine the busy life of the ancient port city in the past. I recommend to have local tour guide or read the explanation at each landmark points (but if i'm not wrong it is written in Turkish). My tour guide said that the city still has been excavated and there will be many other interesting stuffs in the future. I can't wait to see the other heritages so we can understand better the life in the past. BTW, there were many cats and dogs in all the corners of the ruin.

The ruins are magnificent, but it is abhorring how they are extorting the tourists. The entry ticket is 40 EUR! Yet, there are more tickets for different parts and the museum. The amphitheatre is occupied by the tourists singing religious songs (in Roman ruins!!!). They are very annoying and destroy your experience of the place. There are no benches for the visitors, even at the entrance. There are no services for the comfort of the people who paid a fortune to visit the place.

A visit to this ongoing restoration is certainly well worthwhile. Having visited ancient ruins in other countries, I felt this was at the top. Our tour guide did a wonderful job of bringing the streets and buildings alive. Can be busy at times and in certain areas, but don’t miss it if this part of Turkey is on your itinerary.

Went here in July at 8:00 AM few minutes before it opened and there were some tourists already lined up to enter. This place is iconic but I really wouldn’t recommend you going in summer cause the weather would’ve gone up to 41 C and personally for me, the heat wasn’t tolerable. But I did enjoy the experience of walking through ancient ruins. Make sure to wear comfortable outfits cause you’ll definitely take long walks in this ancient city! I feel like the only downside is entry tickets can be pretty expensive.

We visited the site in a small group (20 people) whilst on a cruise arriving when it opened so it was very quiet and we were able to wander around at a leisurely pace. The ruins are magnifient, well preserved and it was easy to imagine what life was like in its Roman heyday. The library and surrounding gardens were the highlight of the tour. I personally felt the terraced houses were slightly hyped but it didn't distract from the scale of wealth their owners possessed. The theatre was inspiring too due to its sheer magnitude and location. It is reminiscent of the one in Cartegena which I prefer. There's no shade on the site so take plenty of water and a hat as it becomes incredibly hot very quickly. Our tour started at the top gate and finished at the bottom gate so we were able to appreciate the vastness of the site which reminded me of Ostia Antica near Rome. There are public toilets on the left hand side just before you leave the site. I was a bit apprehensive about using them but they were spotlessly clean. If you're a history buff and particularly like the Roman era then Ephesus is a bucket list must. Highly recommended.

This ancient city is truly magnificent. Everything here is so beautiful. The ruins, the history, the amphitheater… breathtaking! One of the best ancient city I’ve ever seen and been to! It’s not a small city so you wanna wear a comfortable pair of shoes if you’re going here! It gets pretty hot and sunny so wear a cap too.

Lovely resort with lots of amenities for the whole family, every member of staff is extremely kind and helpful. Lots of activities though out the day and the best entertainment team we have ever experienced. You have a exceptional resort and even more exceptional staff. Huge water park, water sports, direct beach access, themed restaurants, sports, Turkish Bath.

I went to this hotel with the mindset that we could actually swim in the aqua park, well that was so not the case. Lots of bikinis packed, for next to nothing. Fortunately, they did have a "heated" overstuffed pool that you could sort of swim in. The food was not that varied almost every day I was here ate the same thing. A lot was really disappointing in the hotel, not many people could speak English normally. The only fun were the days at the irish pub, where they often did fun games or karaoke. There was also 1 person there who made all that night more fun. I think his name was Sam, he had brown curls. But he brought so much fun and cheerfulness that it made the evenings much more enjoyable. I actually really wouldn't come back for this hotel, but for his coziness alone I will come back next month!

Staying here again second time and it didn't disappoint plenty to do great choice on food and water park is amazing. Customer relations team were fab nothing is ever an issue and the guys are always there to help Leo and the rest of the team. 5 STAR

The people who work here are very nice and they have some delicious food and lovely rooms and they have a fridge with fizzy drinks and you can go and get a drink from the bar whenever you want and they have all kinds of pools like indoor pools, heated pools the only think I would like for them to add to the pools is make them deeper as I am a really good swimmer. also have fly catchers in the restaurant so flys can’t get in the food. Highly recommend this hotel.

Yesterday, the manager (Ahmed you will find his name under my first comment) following my comment asked to meet me this morning. No solution was provided, we wasted our time. He assures me that the problem comes from last minute and not from his hotel, but as I explained to him I am not the only one to have been fooled (see comment a little further) on the opening date of the said water park , and not everyone went through lastminute. In the end, explaining to him that my sister paid the same price as me for 4 people in a hotel similar to hers (we are 2) he tells me that there is all inclusive, the swimming pool… but to pay more than 1500 € to see his daughter bored, the pain is hard to pass. I confirm my previous comment "you have to avoid this hotel" despite the friendliness of the staff.

We came to this place 16 years ago and it was brilliant 😊 now we have just brought our children back and it's still a an amazing place, the people are lovley especially the staff Gyzem the supervisor allowed us to upgrade to the king room, which was a great idea because we really did live like a king. Nur, Aysun, Merve were very helpful though out the week and the manager was super helpful. Loads to do everyday and the food is out of this world, We love this place and will definitely be coming again. Thank you 😊

Best holiday we have ever had, amazing friendly staff, clean facilities and great entertainment, an army of staff are forever cleaning and pruning the grounds to ensure that everything is perfect. A special thanks to Ozer the hotel food hall manager who was fantastic and ensured that all of the food was top notch and that we were always well looked after. What more could be said about this place it is a fantastic place. The swimming pool is great the food is fantastic especially the a la cart restaurants. Staff are so attentive and always on hand to help. The entertainment team are also brilliant very funny and always greet you with a smile and a hello. The evening entertainment is really enjoyable even though i found 21:30 start a little late after a full day. It's a 15 minute taxi ride the the harbour where all the shops are located. Just wanted to update and mention the entertainment team especially Mert who came and spent a good 15 minutes with us before we went home. What an absolute credit to the staff at the hotel.

It was amazing, clean, tidy, well organised hotel. To be honest this hotel has the same quality as 5 stars hotels around Antalya. We did not expect this much. Our room was great (2737 if I am not wrong). Aquapark was excellent. (Summer season of course a bit busy, this is normal), swimming pools were great. Foods oh my god, delicious, tasty, very nice, and cakes were great.

We had the most relaxing stay. Everybody was amazing from cleaning staff, front of house, waiters, pool areas, absolutely everywhere. We stayed at Aqua fantasy for 8 days total, in April, my 5 star review is purely for the bartenders & entertainment team, the rest could have a lot more improvement. The entertainment team are one of the best people I have ever met, especially samet, we made a friend for life, and he is the heart and soul of the hotel. The drinks were very nice and the night activities were very fun, every night a different activity, varying from karaoke to quizzes and good DJ (shout out to semih) Overall the room service could be better, they don’t clean very well and they are very loud in the morning. But good airco in the rooms, and the beds were comfortable. Food was good but every day almost the same food, so it gets a bit boring if you eat there 8 days straight. Also almost no traditional Turkish food and that was a disappointment. Facilities in the hotel were good with nice pools but a bit crowded. And I have to say it again, The bartenders (especially Berk❤️) we’re very friendly and good a serving. The entertainment team (samet is 100% the biggest reason I would come back for) They made the trip unforgettable, nice young people and they know how to make the guests happy and bring people together.

Absolutely appalled by the behaviour of the hotel staff and most definitely the management not dealing with issues promptly and properly. My husband is a turkish citizen and while visiting the hotel foreigners throw them selves at him. When he refused to take notice of the women she threw a drink over him which was witnessed by the security guard. However he was told to wait until the morning in lobby to speak with management. When the management arrived they didn't want to listen to him and told him he shouldn't be there. Now they decide to black list him for no reason and when we ask why they refuse to answer. Its absolutely disgusting how females get away with so much behaviour and males get penalised for there females behaviour. Staff are very unprofessional and don't deal with issues. Be very wise and vigilant when visiting and take note of any issues. Whatever the situation we wanted to visit as a family but they still refuse my Husband.

We had a nice time with family & friends,kids enjoyed and the service was excellent. it was okay hotel. They say 5 stars but you don't get that 5 star feeling. beds are not comfortable, rooms were not clean, they also change some towels in your room, you think you have new ones but it is an old towel. it's the same food every day, they are very stingy with food, the same few choices every day, after 2 days you're tired of the food. glasses and plates are regularly dirty. The hotel room has no air conditioning, it literally blows hot air and the room is hot morning, afternoon and evening, so you don't sleep well. you pay a lot of money but they are stingy. it was okay but some things could be better such as hygiene.

Very nice to walk around, plenty of photo opportunities and gorgeous weather tabi ki. My boyfriend and I loved the ruins, we feel so cultured and blessed to see this in person. I felt so at one with our human ancestors, what an experience to have with my bitanem.

Beautiful interior design to display the antiquities of Ephesus. We went before we visited the ruins and found it very helpful to put things in better context. Easy to enjoy because it was not overrun by people. Very pleasant experience. Well run museum with a small but very nice gift shop.

It is not a huge museum but a must-see place if you visit Ephesus. First of all, the iconic Artemis sculpture is located here. Also a realistic miniature of Artemis Temple can be see in the museum. There is a hall for the foundings from Terrace Houses. Parking lot is available in front of the museum. If you have Museum Card, you can visit here with it.

It is certainly a must for those who love archaeology and who have previously visited the ancient city of Ephesus. You will also see the relics shown on the information boards of the Ephesus Ancient city including the Goddess Artemis Statue unearthed at the State Temple, Emperor Domitian's head and great findings from breathtaking Terrace Houses B from the Ephesus Ancient city, including the Ivory Frieze.

One of the best ruins in the world. Not to be missed under any circumstances if you're on a cruise to the area. Massive site takes about a good hour to see it. Uneven stairs and rocks but if you are mobile it is not to be missed under any circumstances. This is the fifth time I have been there go every time I'm on a cruise or with a friend.

Ephesus will appeal not only to fans of archeology. If you've been avoiding similar places so far, don't let it go this time. Because in Ephesus you can really travel back in time and feel the atmosphere of this ancient city. 🏛

Ephesus Archeological Museum is must before heading to Ephesus archeological ruins. It will take you just 30-40 min to check out all objects, specially the statue of artemis and the model of her temple in mini version who was one of the 7 wonder of the ancient world is very impressive. Worth for the people love the history.

Impressive Roman’s ruins. Will advice to take a guide as it will give you a better experience. Also it’s important to give you a good three hours to visit everything. The temples, library and theatres are impressive.

This museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in delving deeper into the rich history of the region. Walking through its well-curated exhibits, I was struck by the incredible collection of artifacts on display. From intricately carved statues and intricate jewelry to remarkably preserved mosaics, every piece tells a fascinating story of life in ancient Ephesus.

Very impressive site. I would recommend buying tickets in advance and going with a guide, if at all possible. A few practical things: 1. There are restrooms at the beginning and end of the site. If you stay inside the site, the restrooms are free. 2. It gets very crowded, so go early. 3. Traffic is nutty around the site, so hire a car, if possible.

Incredible ancient Greek city that is still well preserved. It's always fascinating to walk among ruins that date back centuries and try and imagine what life could have been like. Definitely go to the library to admire some incredible Greek/Roman architecture. Go early because this place gets flooded with tourists. There's a massive ancient theatre that could accommodate 25k spectators that you can visit. You can even see the ancient plumbing systems and toilets. It's definitely worth a visit. It's an incredible piece of preserved history and yet there is so much of it that is still hidden.

Loved this museum. The Artemis section was top notch. Must visit while in Ephesus. One of the nicer museums in Turkey. It was well organised and easy for us to learn about the events in chronological order. Absolute must visit.

Well organised, early morning, guided tour off our cruise ship, during a hot weather spell affecting many Mediterranean destinations this summer. Local guide was very knowledgeable and, given the spread of different ages and abilities in our group, he took us onto site via lower gate, with more shade and level ground, which was sensible and welcome. At that time, busy but not too crowded, so a better opportunity to view and appreciate the amount of effort that has been put into excavations and preservation of these treasures of ancient history. Certainly on a par with /perhaps slightly better than Pompey, but maybe not quite up to the standard of Herculaneum, (imo). Should I have the chance to return to Turkey, would certainly make another visit, provided temperatures were more amenable - c.41°C (shade) this time.

Without a guide to tell me the history and demarcate the area for me, I would be totally lost. Yes the outline of the area is still visible and parts of some columns remain. It’s a short quick visit of about 15 mins max. Lots of peddlers selling guide books and “gold coins”.

Unfortunately there are a few stones left of the great temple of Artemis. Although it definitely worths a stop and taking time, don't get your hopes up to see much. I really liked smoothly touching the stones from thousands years ago.

No tickets needed, we only stopped on the way back from Ephesus. It was once a massive temple dedicated to Artemis but not much remained. It was destroyed by earthquakes and most of the stone was used in other buildings, like the mosque behind and when they rebuilt Ephesus

Little remains of the once grand marvel of the world. One in the 70s built column of various drums stands alone, but the site breaths nostalgie and therefore worth visit especially as it's free and easily reachable (1km walk) from the city

There is not a great deal to see here which undersells it's historic importance. Better to have the lowdown from a tour guide so you can appreciate what you are seeing. Beware of street traders who are desperate to sell their guidebooks or handmade wooden instruments. Luckily when this lady says no they know she really means no! 😉

Honestly, incredibly disappointing BUT I already knew what to expect. What was once One Of The 7 Ancient Wonders Of The World has been reduced to a single massive column. I have seen artistic depictions of what it could have looked like. There's just nothing really here to see.

Hopefully your tour guide can help you see how these structures looked a thousand years ago. Ours (Sammy), was great at helping us see these ruin for what they are. Priceless treasures, apparently most have yet to be unearthed.

Including parking we paid close to 200 EUR for a visit with my two kids. The Turkish government has gone a bit overboard with its desire to fleece foreign tourists. Will not return and will not recommend this.

This park/museum is a very large complex with multiple structures, it requires at least 5 hours to see everything at a normal pace. The complex is magnificent showcasing beautiful art and structures from the periods as well as the remains of the Church of Virgin Mary. Very well worth trip. You should go!

This is close to the other local attractions and a quick stop off is easy here. Large car park and walkable distance to the far caste in the background. Recommend seeing this before you go to Ephesus.

Artemis Temple You and only one pillar remain. Only the pillars remain, so I don't feel the scale or grandeur of the time, but since 127 pillars were used, I was able to roughly guess the size. At a nearby museum, you can see a replica restored in miniature size.

The Temple of Artemis is known as one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. It has been built in the areas of Ephesus on a flat area which has over the centuries turned into a swamp. If you visit Ephesus today, you can only see the ruins of the foundations of this marvelous construction of the Hellenistic Age, entirely made of marble and full of sculptured columns' capitals and shafts. The most beautiful remaining of this temple are today exhibited in the London British Museum. The oldest remaining found date back till the 6th century BC. It was surrounded by 36 huge columns, later enlarged upon the orders of the Lydia King, Kreisos, during the 6th century BC. Most of the exhibits in the London British Museum belong to this period. The new Artemis has been rebuilt in the 2nd century BC. Located on top of the previous one, it had tremendous dimensions: 127 columns of each 17,5 meters high. Unfortunately this one has also been destroyed by fire, reconstructed and again demolished by earthquakes, rebuilt and at last looted by Goths one year later. The statue of many-breasted Artemis was the symbol of the temple but also of abundance, hunting and wild life. The genuine statue of Artemis, removed during the fire, is today exhibited in the Ephesus Museum. Many copies of this statue found during the latest excavations date back from the Roman period. One of the wonders of the world! Really worth to visit, especially having in mind the price of 130 tl (oct 2023) for seeing ruins of temples, church and forth during one visit. Don't hesitate to walk everywhere and discover more to find hidden jems, such as: vine/olive oil jars, holly paints, Islamic tombstone, water cistern, etc

One of the ancient world wonders. Although few ruins left, but the place has its own magic. You can feel what it was. There are many people trying to see you something there, just ignore that! You can visit the place easily without tour from Selçuk.

The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Turkey, lies in ruins. But the site, which was one of the most important Greek cities in Asia Minor, deserves its place on this list. Be sure to take the time to admire the Library of Celsus, whose majestic columns have stood the test of time.

Don't have Great Expectations for this. It is nothing short of disappointing. Once an wonder of the world, now in ruins. Neglected and discarded. Possibly because of lack of funding or help. Place is littered with touts who are exploiting the tourists. Out of all the columns and structure, only one is standing and that too has a bird's nest on top.

Good place to visit, there are a lot of pieces of the original place on the ground. It's recommended to have additional information when visiting it, as the 90% is destroyed and there are only pieces here and there and it's hard to imagine how it was in the past. Very good site, entry also provides access to the castle behind it. Is part of the multi-ticket for Ephesus or a small fee just for the Basilica. Just be prepared to walk up the hill!

Really enjoyed our trip here, and contrary to a post I read online which stated that it was a 1.6 km walk up a hill, this was not at all the case for us, as we were able to park very conveniently in the car park located just outside the entrance, for 25 lira. It was an interesting visit through the ruins of the church, with the baptistery still intact. You can also walk up to the Ayasoluk Castle at the top of the hill, but recommend this only for those of you with steady mountain goat legs! This is accessed by walking through the St John's Basilica Church. There is also a teashop halfway up for refreshments and souvenirs. This place is well worth a visit, set aside a couple of hours for this at least. We went in mid April and it was beautiful, filled with blossom of all kinds, lilac and other flowers. Down the hill in Selcuk also has some nice ordinary Turkish restaurants and shops you can visit also.

It does not get as much attention as the Ephesus archaeological site, but this is a magnificent castle. It has been undergoing renovation for 13 years, and the views and the breezes from the top are amazing.

The presence of the Apostle is tangible. Extraordinary place to pray and connect with the last living witness of the Lord.

Historical stories about this place are excellent. We can imagine how creative it is in that century. Symbols transferred the message to another person, architecture, and whole design, so amazing.

Amazing history, although I recommend getting a tour guide or audio guide of some sort as the information boards are quite limited. Amazing views from the cafe and a short walk uphill to the citadel 🏰 be careful about the heat, there aren't many places with shade.

This former Greek orthodox church has been converted into a mosque. Very beautiful, it is the old town.

Go first thing in the morning. No crowds & you will have the opportunity to take as many photos as you want.

We came here just before closing. The ruins aren’t as magnificent as Ephesus. Sadly couldn’t visit the castle because we came late. A great place for sunset photos because it’s less busy.

This is a great look into the past. Some of the ruins have been "restored" but not much so you get to imagine what it was like. The marble paths are slick even without being wet.

Historic Biblical place to visit. When visiting ancient Ephesus you should make the stop here!! See where the beloved apostle of Jesus is buried. Walk the same grounds where John, a disciple of Christ, once walked. The scribe of Revelation is buried here.

Very well preserved and full of history. Only downside for a tourist without a tour guide might be the lack of direction but it's easy to overcome once you figure out the main way. Overall, a great historic site, recommended.

It's a lovely and peaceful place. Careful not to slip when you're going down the stairways ! The courtyard is big and pleasant to look. You will see ancient tombstones against one of the walls. The psalmody of the Quran amplifies the peaceful atmosphere. You can visit the inside even if you're not a Muslim, but please consider having clothes that suits the modesty required by the place.

I dunno if it's just me... But I felt an overwhelming sense of calm when I set foot into this mosque... And I've been to many mosques... But the tranquility of this mosque... I rmb this peaceful feeling that came over me distinctly even after many years ❤️

It looks gorgeous from the outside but unfortunately it’s been closed for over year for renovations so you can’t get in.

Selcuk style architecture that amaze you when visit this historic mosque. Still functioning and some area in restoration progress. The Mosque have special features and identity that made its architecture different than most of the Mosque in Turkey. Located next to oldest and largest bacillica made this unique building easy to be notice and can be visited for many tourists. North entrance on refurbishment on my visit and you may still enter from south entrance. Ample space for tourists coach parking or cars. You may need to wear suitable shoes to climb up to the entrance. For Muslims.... Ablation area in the garden has no warm or hot water so during winter just get ready with towel or tissue. Women may need to take your ablation earlier before enter and praying here as there's no separate ablation for you. It's a nice and beautiful mosque to enjoy both history and architecture

Curetes Street is one of the three main streets of Ephesus. It runs between the Hercules Gate and the Celsus Library. The street was an archaic Processional Way, an important sacred route that lead to the Temple of Artemis. Therefore, it takes its name from the priests that would walk the street during religious ceremonies. The Curetes were semi-deities in mythology, but the term was used to refer to a class of priests and priestesses in Ephesus. They started as a cult of six priests but were later expanded to nine who would reenact the birth of the goddess Artemis. At first the name Curetes referred only to priests from the cult of Artemis, but during the Roman rule the term was expanded to include the priestesses of Hestia. These priestesses were responsible for the sacred fire housed in the Prytaneion. Curetes were chosen every year to tend to the eternal flame that represented the heart of Ephesus. Curetes Street originated in Hellenistic times, but it runs counter to the Hippodamian city grid plan that was popular at the time. Instead of running perpendicular to other streets it cuts diagonally across the grid system. The street would have been victim of Ephesus’s many earthquakes, and the structures along the street were repaired often using building materials repurposed from other fallen structures in the city. The differences in design are still clearly evident on the columns today from the rebuilding of the street after a 4th century earthquake. The street was home to many fountains, monuments, and statues. There were also houses on the slope that would have been used by the wealthiest of Ephesians. Under these houses were colonnaded galleries and shops with mosaic tiled floors. The roofs of the houses would have been used to shelter shopping pedestrians from sun or rain.

There is no shade in Ephesus and it is very very very very very very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very veryvery very very very hot in summer, so I recommend that you bring water, sunscreen, a hat, comfortable shoes and sunglasses.

One of the 2 most pictured structures in Ephesus along with Celsus Library. Embroidery-like reliefs of the Temple are extraordinarily beautiful.

Another historical attraction in Ephesus is the Temple of Hadrian, built before 138 A.D. by P. Quintilius and dedicated to the Emperor Harian when he came to visit the city from Athens in 128 A.D. This temple is one of the best preserved and most beautiful structures on Curetes street with a beautiful arch on the front facade, supported with four Corinthian order columns and considered an architectural masterpiece. Here you will also see the relief's of Medusa, statues and Medusa's head on the porch said to protect the city from enemies.

It is a beautiful monument like a temple which is located on the major road throughout Ephesus. I always see asian tourists making group photos infront of this beautiful monument.

Yet another gem in the area. Walk a bit further past the Celsus library and you will arrive to the site.

This Ephesus complex almost left ruins. If you like history, you will enjoy to here stories about these places and ruins. Even just ruins, many people took pictures here.

Interesting, that 169 AD temple is bearing Slavic obereg sign Rysič. Hmm its interesring, how this happened, think about a history for sure !

Well so famous you expect so much but yes even with crowds it delivered, quite magical, loved walking round with our intrepid guide it was worth the hype.

it is 1,5 km walk , we hired a horse truck to get us at one site and we walked through the amazing place

One of the first structures that welcomes you once you enter Ephesus Ancient city from the Upper Gate.

The ancient world has become even more exciting for me. Don't come to Turkey without seeing this place.

Amazingly beautiful historical site to visit while you're in TÜRKIYE!

If you come through the lower gate this is the first main building you will come across right at the start. It's reasonably small but in a pretty good condition.

A lot of rubble and no explanations as to what it is or what you're seeing. Lots of 2023 built on additions, such as floors and walls. Completely decimated. Very expensive, extra cost for parking, the horse to get there, the drinks, the tour guide. Disappointed with the rubble.

Historical site which is a must visit place! Come and feast your eyes with the beauty of the once magnificent city! There is another entrance which needs another fee to see the historical daily use of stuff. I would have loved to go but due to time constraint following a tour group, i couldn't go😭

This is the real entrance to Ephesus Archaeological site, costs 40TL. The site is large & very interesting. So, spend at lea st half a day there. But bring lots lots of water as there is no water / shops inside

An amazing historical site. Take not of the wonderful mosaic flooring. The views of Celsus Library from here is also fantastic

If you pass the legendary Celcus Library into direction of Hadrianus Temple and keep walking your see the Hercules Gate. Actually it is not remained to show the form of ancient era, but you can imagine how people were passing passthrou it in those old times

The separation gate between the two hierarchical parts of Ephesus Ancient City. It give perfect pictures from the lower part of the gate with a backdrop of blue skies.

A must visit place in Turkey. Great architecture and engineering!

Incredible preserved until now. This was the main gate separating the official area of Ephesus from the social area. At the present, there is remaining two side of the columns with Hercules figures with the skin of the Nemean lion in mythology and reliefs of the flying Nikes on the top of gate. There are no care of the monuments and ruins. The government should seriously think protecting those treasures from predatory tourists.

Visited the castle when there was not a single soul nearby and it was a great experience. The castle may be nothing but walls and a few small structures, but you have a perfect view of the nearby town, fields, and roads. The view is fantastic and if you're alone this is a great place to stop, think, admire, and just live in the moment. I think that's where the true beauty of the castle lies.

An actual caste from the last ottoman empire. View is breathtaking. You get to see the ruins of an ancient city along the way.

Restoration of the place has made it beautiful and it is worth a visit, but you will spend less than an hour here. There is not much to see inside although the area is large and it has great views of the surrounding city with walls that are almost completely intact due to restoration. It's worth a visit if you love castles and the entry fee is comparable to any other place around.

Nice to get out of the town for a walk around, but really nothing special here. Several touts outside the entrance pester tourists. Don't feel that you have to walk up the castle; there is absolutely nothing to see inside.

Saint John Basilica and citadel are beautiful and unspoiled, to date, by too many visitors. Here you imagine the Greeks, Romans and Byzantine having their control of these monumental buildings. Built circa 6th century by Byzantine using Greek and Roman stone from earlier buildings. So diverse , the artwork carved into the marble. The views are stupendous as they offer a 360• view of Selçuk and valleys. Sublime experience.

A historic place that much needed better reservation

Not much to do, but you can get a good view of the city since the castle is at the highest point.

Magical walled and gated citadel with Byzantine (Church of St John), Saljuk, and Ottoman remains. Views from the upper castle are commanding and spectacular; well worth the climb. The walls are the most prominent remains but inside are structures including a ruined mosque, much-visited fragments of a church, large vaulted cisterns, and palace remains. Only suitable for walking; the terrain is uneven and care must be taken. No facilities inside. One ticket gains access to all features.

It was a bit of a hike to get to the top on a very rocky trail. The sights from the top were amazing! As it was a warm day, I was happy to see a gift shop with beverages on the way down so I could take a break!

Watch your footing. Massive place. Very impressive. Lots of cats and the odd tortoise! It would been seen for miles around. Still some mosaic and fresco you can see.

This is a nice place with good view of the city! Nothing of the castle is remaining except of the outer walls! Lot of steps! If you are using a wheel chair then this is of no comfort! Just go up to see the city view nothing else.

Landmark wise, great. On the other hand there is close to no infographics unlike the Basilica of Saint John you pass on your way up, also some sites are not open as a result of ongoing excavations or it being too dangerous for now. But still, a great part of history and I recommend you visit it no matter what because it's simply magnificent once you get to the top.

İf you are in Selçuk would recommend coming to see. But wouldn't come just for the castle

A partially restored citadel with an extraordinary heritage pedigree. This site is visited in conjunction with St John's Basilica - same ticket and entrance. Fantastic views of the region but much more heritage work needs to be both undertaken and completed. The days if tourists interested in piles of rocks is long gone. We have been fed a diet of TV and online resources, so we want to see both interpretation and restoration for our travel and entrance funds. Not to mention our valuable leisure time.

Not much to see, there is a fence that you can not get past. Not worth the time. 3btraveler

The place is on a hill side with an ancient excavated chapel/church/cathedral that was expected to be the place famous where the seven grotos were buried. The place require you to climb a hill and you can watch the excavated place with the open graves and move down to gaze on the ancient entrance. The bottom of the hill has several turkish restaurants.

Not much there to see really, however the view of the valley from the top of the hill is breath taking.

It took about half an hour to walk to from Selcuk and was an easy walk. As I arrived the security guard was there and was very helpful, telling me where various parts were. The views back to the castle are great. Free to enter.

Very cool but entering is forbidden to prevent damage to the place. You can look from outside and if you are adventurous, you can climb around to get different views from the sides and above but be careful. The seven sleepers may wake up and eat you.

There is a lot of holy things about it and its a holy and wonder place for Muslim.

In truth there’s not a lot to see. Some opportunities to take photos of Grotto and a few graves. The adjoining cafes are some of the better, more quaint places to have a proper, multi-dish Turkish Village breakfast ( with chickens running around )

Another historical ruins in and around the surrounding area of Ephesus. Access is easy and the place is not busy. Short walk on the dirt uphill so not suitable for those with difficulty walking. The actual caves were gated off when I visited but still can get a glimpse from above and also through the bars. For such a historical place I am surprised it is not secured and maintained. It’s simply open to all without any site preservation in place.
