Nice hotel, really cool lobby and kind staff. Rooms weren’t too shabby however they’re long due some renewal. There were stains on the matras that you could see through the sheets, the overthrow didn’t look like it had been cleaned and the bathroom showed signs of usage.

Situated 10-15 minutes drive from Kristiansand at the local zoo. The service is good. The food is even better. The hotel is crowded in the holiday season, but I strongly recommend a stay.

The hotel is nice and clean, but the room is extremely small. The space between the bed and the sleeping sofa (when it is open) is literally only enough to pass a person of time.as it is meant for 2-4 person, it gets really crowded and uncomfortable there.

The best about this hotel is location. Right besides Dyreparken. Hotel is rather expensive as all is in Dyreparken. Room we have gotten was small. Beds were clean and comfortable. View towards Zebras and Emus - very good. Food was not just expensive - it was extremely expensive, so I did not try. There are much cheaper restaurants in Sorlandsparken. There is an free parking in front of hotel and Dyreparken for hotel guests. It is worth checking other options as well for hotels in area.

It’s an ok hotel that’s starting to show it’s age. Good breakfast included and a great view and location to the zoo/park. The staff is friendly. It’s main focus is as a family hotel so it can get loud in the common area’s. The rooms are now a bit worn after so many years. Parking location is very good. This review is for the main hotel, not abra havn or the tents. Expensive (Norway is an expensive country) But as the rooms are old it feels like your getting less value for the price.

Perfect for family. There’s a Zoo and a ride inside the park. They have also a waterpark with outdoor and indoor pools and waterslides. Best to go there during summer as the outdoor pools are open.

Super family-friendly vacation spot. Walk out the door, and you are at the edge of the zoo with various animals. Step out the back to find yourself in the middle of the amusement park's pirate ship adventure! Being American, it was nice that most of the staff spoke English very well and did not laugh at our attempts to speak Nowegian! 😁 Would love to bring our older grandchildren here.

I normally stop here when I work at Dyreparken. Beautiful place, well themed, zoo right outside the front door. What's not to like? Restaurant is large and comfortable. The evening buffet has everything, as does the breakfast. Staff are outstanding. A lot of the staff have been there for years and know everything you need to know. The rooms are a reasonable size and the en suites well fitted. There are coffee /tea facilities in the room. The TV has several Norwegian channels but a lot of films and tv series are English anyway and it isn't dubbed. The photo shows the view from my room (303). The zoo is just across the car park.

Reception is open 24/7. Warm welcome. Room was clean and of the right size. Breakfast was simply perfect: everything you want was there. After one day work, I decided to stay in the hotel for dinner. Food was OK but the "Panna Cotta" at the end was like in Italy! Surprising!!!

Last stop on my Road Trip across Norway, ferry this afternoon so I stopped here. What a lovely place to stop at. Comfortable rooms, lovely buffet restaurant. I think it would be different when kids are on holidays, the amusement park next door looks like it could be a lot of fun!!

Really nice rooms for travel, but for staying with a propper family for multiple days pretty small. The tech was really nice. Some power sockets, a really well tough through Media system, the TV has multiple funcionalities (TV, Chromecast & another casting solution, a way to plan the stay at the park on the tv and some other suff). Very fast internet for a hotel! Very clean hotel! Really good buffets. The dinner has a little selection, but mostly really delicious foods (only one roast beef was too stiff). The breakfast has a huge selection (only criticism as a german, no honey at the buffet, only at the tea stand). Overall a really enjoyable stay!

On the expensive side, but can spend ages there. We went without kids and still had loads of fun. Sadly 2 of the water slides were closed, but the diving boards were great, with lots of different heights (up to 10m!). The rapid river was also really fun, if a bit scary! Nice selection of quieter bits to relax, sauna, steam room, plunge pool and jacuzzi pool at 35 degrees. Quite busy at the weekend but still room to swim. Changing rooms seemed clean.

Yes, you have to pay around 200 NOK for one adult soo it’s kind of expensive. But: it’s worth it. You get access to 3 slides, 2 whirlpools, an outside pool (all-season), multiple children pools, foam pool, wave generator pool, springboards up to a height of 10m. Was a very nice stay there.

It's pricy but nice pools for the whole family, but you would expect that showers and wardrobe was maintained with the kind of money you are paying. The majority of the showers are broken, so you can't adjust the temperature. Not fun for kids or adults. Dirty wardrobe with broken closets. Not easy to eat healthy, with few real options.

Lovely spa. We wanted to go to the normal family pool, but that was VERY VERY crowded. Not very nice. Went to the spa instead, and that was lovely. So nice.

I was going to Aquarama for over 8 years monthly and overall it was a great experience. In the last year mainly I was going to the Spa section and unfortunately in the past two months it wasn't as it used to be. 1 month ago the swimming pool was closed down so I couldn't swim and last time the temperature was much lower than it used to be in the saunas and specially in the wardrobe area. This is the reason why I cut one star.

Awesome for kids aged 8+. The slides are fantastic and the pools are, with one exception, superb. The baby pool was quite dirty. We were there with two kids, aged 1 and 4. The family wardrobes are nasty and worn down. Felt dirty after. HIGHY recommend getting there early and for god’s sake, bring your own slippers.

Odderøya is a small island which people can walk along and complete the entire path in half of a day. Some paths are suitable for wheelchair, some are not. There are also small paths from the main route to go for a beach and visit previously military bases. Although it is not far away from the city, it is quiet and peaceful. There is also bbq in place (bring your own tray), caffe and toilets available. Awesome place for picnic, jogging and relaxing.

The Kristiansand Cathedral is one of the largest cathedrals in Norway. Quite impressive and in the city center, it is supposed to have been built in the late 1800s. If one is a fan of Neo Gothic style of cathedrals, there is quite sometime one can spend in here. My favorite has been the very impressive glass designs inside (picture included in my review). Tip : the catherdral is open on weekdays only from 11:00. When I visited, it opened at only at 11:30 and there was a queue of tourists waiting to get in :). Highly recommended just for the architecture and the impressive and imposing look if you visit Kristiansand.

Beautiful church in the heart of Kristiansand. The entrance fee is worth it. When we were inside, we were lucky enough to attend a small concert. Such acoustics in such a church is something special. But even without a concert, you can take a look inside and maybe pause for a moment.

Even we were only outside the Domkirke, it was amazing. Ok, we were a little early to see the tulip blossom before the church, but on the other side there you were able to see a Zilla Heart. Of course you had to stand in the right position to see the heart. But it is a really nice and big heart.

Interesting cathedral with a wooden interior structure and photogenic exterior. Free to get in, but you can donate if you wish. Near to shops, cafes, benches to sit on and a pretty fountain.

Sat up on the high ground this huge Canon was 1 of 4 built by the Germans during WW11 to command the shipping routes around this area, and were part of many stretching around the whole coastline. It consists of a whole network of tunnels with metal tracks for taking ammunition from 1 gun encasement to another, which you can walk through and see also rooms for living quarters, ammunition, shells and all sorts of equipment needed to run the operation of the huge guns. No use here for disabled access though. Also quite a few steps etc about. There is a small cafe, come shop and info centre.

It is a must see attraction if you like World War II history and if you are in Norway. It is free to visit, you only have to pay (100NOK) if you want to see the exhibition under the cannon 2. You can easily spend there half day or more. Highly recommended.

Very impressing and a very friendly and informative Team. We came just after 2pm fearing they were closing but luckily they were open until 6pm and opening times should now be corrected. I can absolutely recommend - and I hardly review anything on google. We were there on a monday afternoon. Plenty of parking available and easy to find. Went after closing hours but was still able to look around the installation, just not inside the cannon itself. Cool walkway on top of the bunker for great veiws. Epic if you like history. Northen flank of the Atlantic wall, with a huge cannon amongst other cool stuff.

The museum is an open air museum where you can visit old houses from the Kristiansand area and the Setesdal valley. Some of the houses are open so you can go inside and get a glimpse into how people lived some hundred years ago. The museum also displays a part of Kristiansand center as mini houses so you can see an entire part of town. It is interesting to go visit afterwards. A few of the old houses are still there but not many. There is a small cost cafe in the museum set up as an old cafe with staff wearing costumes. The coffee was not good but the waffles were excellent. We asked about the exhibition and the waiters went a long way to help is answer the questions. Very friendly.

There are three exhibitions in this museum that I liked. The section about uniforms worn in the past by people from the region for the different organizations ie police, army, navy etc. The maritime museum and the area that recreates the living quarters from the past up until Viking farms. Absolutely loved it. I had booked this tour through Expedia and it did not disappoint me. Our guide was a lovely young lady and it was like a blast from the past. The residential quarters, the original furniture and everything else were intact and one could easily visualize how people lived at that time. We took our own time and played with the goats too. There is a little souvenir shop where I bought something to remind me of this amazing place. Every person who works there speaks fluent English and so, nothing was lost in translation. It was a really wonderful opportunity to learn about how people lived in Norway so long ago. There are washrooms there as well, so no issues with that. For smokers, you can smoke near the gift shop but not while taking the tour. Enjoy local ice cream as well that can be bought at the gift shop. Fun, fun and more fun.

Very interesting. Lisa was our guide. She shared stories and explained about every day life for early settlers. Loved stories about traditional dress and culture from the family saunas, hand carved ironing press engagement gift, to stuffing the calves of socks to attract a husband. Overcast in the morning, but then rain set in at the end of our visit so we hustled to gift shop. Sorry we didn't have more time.

Great old fortress! My grandma worked here when it used to be a restaurant. Today it seems to be used for festivals and gatherings of different kinds.

The fortress is an easy and free visit while in the harbour area. It’s not especially spectacular, but it is well kept and just enough to give a taste of the town’s historically strategic importance. Very nice fortress on the outside, but entrance a bit hard to find. As a conference hall, they desperately need to mount acoustic plates in the roof. Audio quality was really bad with slight noise from the back being a real annoyance. Apart from that it's a really interesting and round locale.

Entrance is free and the fortress confers a really good view of the harbour. There are several small canons to look at and if you are strolling around the city there is no nicer place to visit.

Sat up on the high ground this huge Canon was 1 of 4 built by the Germans during WW11 to command the shipping routes around this area, and were part of many stretching around the whole coastline. It consists of a whole network of tunnels with metal tracks for taking ammunition from 1 gun encasement to another, which you can walk through and see also rooms for living quarters, ammunition, shells and all sorts of equipment needed to run the operation of the huge guns. No use here for disabled access though. Also quite a few steps etc about. There is a small cafe, come shop and info centre.

Very impressing and a very friendly and informative Team. We came just after 2pm fearing they were closing but luckily they were open until 6pm and opening times should now be corrected. I can absolutely recommend - and I hardly review anything on google. We were there on a monday afternoon. Plenty of parking available and easy to find. Went after closing hours but was still able to look around the installation, just not inside the cannon itself. Cool walkway on top of the bunker for great veiws. Epic if you like history. Northen flank of the Atlantic wall, with a huge cannon amongst other cool stuff.

Beautiful but very rude staff makes you think is it because we look foreigners? Staff should work harder to treat every passenger better despite the way they look. It’s 2023 we can do better.

It was a pleasant experience but a few things were just odd. Check in and boarding were relaxed. Staff were nice and the boat was at low capacity due to covid19 (which was nice). You’re asked to be there an hour in advance, and then you have to wait another half hour before boarding. Business class is not worth the extra money as you’re just crammed into a dark, “ongezellig” room. We found the rest of the boat much more pleasant. We ordered the picnic lunch and got a whole cooler bag (including cooler elements) with sandwiches and lots of water. The apples were so old that the seeds were sprouting inside the apple! 😂 In retrospect, we should have brought our own food, but hey - it was an experiment and our first time on the boat.

Good ferry, business class is great! Though the wifi is a bit disappointing for ‘business’ class.

This place is very good for its age, it's pretty much had the same exhibit since I was a kid. The botanical garden is free (except for the succulent house which is part of the indoors area) and this along with the surrounding park and forest is beautiful for a stroll.
