A lot of different species of seafood and reptiles to see. While it is entertaining for most people, it can seem unsatisfactory for aquarium afficionados. There were a lot of nursery trips being held at the time we went so as expected, a lot of noisy toddlers. The outdoor part of the aquarium had pink pelicans and South African penguins to look at. The facilities were clean and that must be where the bulk of the payment went. We finished looking around in just 70 minutes.

I gave it 4 stars, but I think it really deserves about a 3.7. Environments for some of the larger animals are very small, but they do provide stimulation by having an interactive environment. Octopus tank had 0 items for stimulation/hiding. Those two things are very important for an octopus, especially since they are so smart. Overall, it's a nice aquarium, and was fairly priced!

Tickets can be reserved in advance. Located at the top floor of sunshine city plaza area that can only be accessed via designated elevators. Really great displays with different kinds of viewing areas. Not a huge aquarium but still worth the visit!

Super small place, totally no worth it the money, my recommendation don't buy the annual pass, but during covid season , annual pass allow you entrance right away while day pass ,you have to wait on the line to get in.

An amazing experience 🤩 I don’t tend to frequent these kind of attractions involving living creatures, however the enclosures are incredibly clean and well kept ✅ There is a lot of really good information (mostly in Japanese) but it’s a great environment to get children interested in marine (and even non-marine) biodiversity 🐠🦎🐸🐢🐡 I went with a friend and her daughter, and the way the exhibit is built is extremely kid friendly, especially with the explanations and layout 😊 There is a Tully’s Café where if you get tired or need a snack has very complete and cute menu 😇 (unfortunately I didn’t anything and only had a tea but it was quite decent) It can be crowded during the weekends especially so I would suggest going during non-peak hours if your circumstances permit 🕰️ Too long; didn’t read: Recommend 10/10 , beautiful rooftop aquarium with loads of fish from all over (even an Amazon, South East Asia and Africa <Lake Tanganyika> exhibit) 🐟

I have been to Aquariums in many countries, this one, although not the largest I have visited it is definitely the most unique! Very well laid out with great tanks that are immaculately kept! Many different species you don’t see everywhere. Inside was great, but the outside space was amazing. It was a rainy day which made the outside space less crowded, but droplets on the pool walls did show up in photos. We LOVED this aquarium!

This aquarium was one of my highlights in Ikebukuro. I recommend this to anyone in any age. Adult entrance fee is about 2600 to 2800 Yen. Inside there are 3 sections, where one (in my opinion the best) is open air. I also recommend to visit the performance of the seal - it was the best attraction there.

Not the biggest aquarium I've ever been to, but at the same time it has a lot of things going for it that makes it stand out compared to others. Many of the species of fish and other sea creatures aren't that common to see at other aquariums, thus this makes it worth the visit. Oh and to top it off, there's penguins as well :)

It’s a very small aquarium and so very very crowded. You can only enter via the Lift and although there’s four of them. The system isn’t well calibrated so only one of them can stop at the floor at one time. So we waited for 30 mins just to get on the lift. Then we got to the aquarium and it was basically a big long crowd of people. Imagine standing in the Yamamote line train at rush hour and slowly making your way from the back to the front. Lots of the exhibits have medium to large animals in a very small tank with nothing inside. It was also quite expensive at ¥2600 for an adult and ¥1800 for children. My children did enjoy it despite the crowds. But I’d perhaps go somewhere else unless you are here on a quiet weekday.

It was a cute aquarium. Not that big though, but cheap enough that it was ok. There is food on the 3rd floor, so convent. Also it's in a shopping center, so can be combined with other stuff to do.

A small-to-mid-size aquarium that suit for a half-day tour. Generally you will see things that you would expect; except some sort of large sea creatures, eg, dolphins, sharks, etc. It is located on top of a building so the space is limited. Check out the sea lion show. It is so adorable.

Two in One experience you will get when you come here. It is located on top of Sunshine City mall. It is not deserted somewhere unknown. The price is reasonable for an attraction spot but the experience you get in there is PRICELESS. They have two sections, indoor and outdoor. Don't expect much for the outdoor section as they were not that big. But enough for me and my wife to stroll around.

A nice place to chill and watch those adorable and beautiful animals. There are three zones in the aquarium (freezing to stay in the outdoor area, but the sea lion training demonstration was wonderful! So I stayed 20 mins there until the show ended!) The animals are under good care and the staffs were helpful. I spent two hours here. Relaxing place for tourists!

Heartbreak doesn't even begin to cover the profound sadness I felt witnessing the conditions there. The enclosures were shockingly small, nowhere near adequate for the variety of sea life housed within. It was the first time I've ever observed signs of zoophobia in an aquatic setting – a distressing sight with many creatures swimming in tight, repetitive circles, a clear indicator of their stress and discomfort. An encounter with an octopus left a particularly deep impression. It seemed acutely aware of visitors on the other side of the glass, visibly panicking and attempting to conceal itself whenever someone approached too closely. Witnessing such fear was unsettling, to say the least. And then there was the sea lion, confined to a space so cramped it might as well have been a bathtub. Its continuous, circular swimming, more akin to spinning, was a sight that filled me with a profound sense of sorrow. I've never felt so eager to leave a place. It's heartbreaking to see marine creatures, which should be roaming the vast oceans, confined to such restrictive, inadequate environments. This visit was a stark reminder of the importance of ethical animal care, and unfortunately, this aquarium fell woefully short. A regrettable one-star review, solely because leaving no stars isn't an option. Visiting this aquarium was an experience I wish I could forget.

Located in Sunshine City plaza. Just stop at the Higashiikebukuro stop using the Yurakucho Line. It has 2 zones, indoor and outdoor. Much more better than the ones back at home. P.s: a plus point when it’s raining in Tokyo. Just visit this Aquarium and enjoy the food in the plaza.

A nice bit retro shopping street, in Sugamo. Known for popularity with old people the food, clothes, fruits, other garlic, kampo, sweets and restaurants are reasonable and good. Check for the “red underpants” and get that thorn taken out of your stiff shoulder, by the Jizo? Then too, you can see and touch or pet the mascot Sugamo duck for good luck? I was impressed at the free WiFi and signage too.

I loved this street full of cute senior citizens and great discounted stores. Where else can you get brand new quality clothes for 1500 Yen. Brand new. I passed on the red panties, but hey, whatever floats your boat!

Go here on the 4th, 14th, or 24th of the month. It will not disappoint! This is always a shopping street. But on these 3 days they have extra street vendors with food, homemade goods, and antiques. You can find some good prices at this time also. I bought some handmade long makeup pouches for $2ea! They also had amazake, which is the most wonderful rice drink for $1! A lot of the local elderly come out on these days for bargains...it is precious! On the way to the shopping street from the station, there is a buddha temple. Its is very clean and pretty!

Very long shopping street. Good variety, shops selling clothings, jackets, shoes, hats, food items, snacks, grocery, cafe. Several shops cater to elderly folks. A nice mix of people both young and old visiting this area. There is a shop that sells wheeled-walker and other aids for the elderly.

A beautiful and charming old street, more popular with senior citizens. I almost wanted to skip this place as I thought I wouldn’t have much to do here since it’s for senior citizen, but luckily I did not. It’s a nice place, with many things to look at. Many shops selling variety of things, and also snacks. Good place for shopping, stretched about 800m, could easily spend 1 to 2 hours depending on speed.

Great place! Far exceeded our expectations. 3 or 4 great temples and shrines on the street or nearby as well. I got myself a new flatcap, kyusu (japanese teapot), sencha (green tea), shio daifuku (sweet snack) and much more! We absolutely loved this place! The customer service from the staff in all the shops we went in was particularly outstanding!

I like the fact that it's not too crowded. The shoppers are mostly local. Not much things for tourists but it's a great place to take a peaceful stroll.

I visited here for the first time in 8 years. The observation deck has been renovated in 2023, and looks everything new. Purchasing advance tickets is recommended, nut I could get in there without booking as I visited weekdays. You can use tripod here unless you occupied the view spot for long time. The views are so spectacular, would recommend for everyone.

Fairly priced and worth it in my opinion. Before we bought the tickets, the staff warned us that the weather is not the best and changing rapidly, so we might not get the best views. The elevator itself is an attraction as it is so fast you can feel the pressure in your ear changing just like in the airplane. The view is perfect, you can really see all the sides well and far. There is a special area where you can relax, take perfect photos for Instagram or videos for TikTok (swings before windows and such). There were many couples just dating or relaxing together. Also kids playing around. Everyone seemed really happy. You get a perfect view of Skytree and other famous landmarks and it wasn't as crowded as not that many tourists come to Ikebukuro (compared to Shibuya Sky, Skytree, Tokyo Tower). Also it is located in a giant shopping mall, so there is plenty to do in that area before or after your visit.

We went to Namjatown to see their cats and eat dumplings. It was awesome. It's mainly a kids entertainment zone but adults can enjoy the gyoza and cat area. We bought entry tickets to Namja Town at the door for ¥800 per adult then another ¥800 yen ticket for the cats area. There's a vending machine inside the cats area where you can buy treats and rent a cat toy. You aren't allowed to pickup the cats but you can pet any play with them.

Great gyoza museum and brilliant aesthetics to look around, plenty to see and many Collab events going on.

It is a nice indoor Themenpark, but many stuff is japanese only. So as a tourist, you can really enjoy it, if you know japanese or have someone with you, who knows the language. If you don't know any japanese, I would not recommend it because it won't be that fun.

Not for adults, kids will probably live it. It’s at a location where there are plenty of other attractions for kids, which is ideal for them. Many line up to go in.

NAMJA !!! where do I even start? One of the strangest experiences in Japan. Quite a few of the attractions were out of order and one attraction when I was on it we had to leave early. I didn’t get to do to much here most of it was just walking around trying to find an attraction that was open . Little disappointing

TLDR: DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU CAN NOT SPEAK FLUENT JAPANESE. They have a few friendly staff who can speak a little English but if you aren’t lucky enough to meet a nice staff you’ll have a bad day. Edit: I came here for the anime collab lottery game. The lady at the gate is friendly and speaks a little English, which made me think that Google map reviews are dated and I’m welcomed here. I went straight to the anime collab area on the map, no customer there, only one lady behind the counter. After hearing that I speak English, this lady just started speaking Japanese FAST, pointed at a machine then went straight to a nearby counter. I didn’t know how to operate the machine so I looked to her suggesting I needed help, but she just stood there staring into the void. I was a little annoyed but I didn’t want to waste my ¥1,000 entry ticket. Luckily I found two ladies in the next room who are willing to help. Turns out I just needed to 1. insert enough money into the machine, 2. push one button, get the ticket and 3. draw the lottery. Didn’t even take 5 minutes, and I was the only customer there all along. LOL The fact that they didn’t bother to Google Translate a 3-step tutorial, and how the first staff dealt with me is telling me that this is not a place for foreign tourists. This game doesn’t have a language or cultural barrier, but IF you are a foreigner, you just can’t enjoy it. I don’t wanna use the r-word but they are giving, well, you know.

Don't go unless you are fluent in Japanese. It's not foreigner friendly, most of the staff were annoyed that we didn't speak Japanese. Not helpful at all and one guy actually got mad. Except for cat area, the ladies in there were so nice. Explained everything to us and introduced us to the cats. Food area and horror walk through were okay, but not worth the time and money.

To be fair this place is old and theres not much to do here but look at old school japanese vibes. Theres also a lot of collabs which is cool and the cat area is nice. I just dont think theres that much worth it here.

Attractions are geared for younger kids, food was unimpressive, can get better / cheaper gyoza elsewhere. No english translations (except for brochure). Also I didn't see the poop sensei anywhere, except for a wall at the entrance.

This is a temple that is traditionally known for its healing powers. I guess... It's not relevant anymore for actually healing people, but the marketplace and the commercial district near it is still very active and well. You can think of it as more like a tourist attraction than a hospital now.

A great temple in the Sugamo area that is famous for its mysterious healing power thanks to the 'Togenuki (the thorn-removing)' Jizo. But the water fountain and a few facilities are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still a nice place to wish for your health... I mean it can't really hurt can it?

Sugamo is an interesting place that you can not really see in downtown Tokyo. I like the mood that you can experience around the streets and this temple. It is more silent on weekend but can be crowded on weekends, especially when there is a festival or other local events. Highly recommended!

Famous temple along Jizo Dori street in Sugamo. Not a very big temple but nonetheless loved by many people suffering from difficult illnesses or injuries. Washing the main statue on the corresponding area to your pain is said to have a healing effect.

The shops around this temple are interesting and fun. Inside the temple, you can see Japanese elders washing and mopping a buddha statue. It is believed that buddha will cure the painful part.

Quiet place to pray

For the babies, pregnant moms, and pray for health and happiness. But no Pokémon Go here please! Btw, there are Shinto shrines also for such prayers for happiness, such as the main one in Suitengu. So not sure how to choose your temple, shrine or trust Creator God in another manner?

Calm and serene place with tori gates of inari shrine, an old candy shop from 1781, a small bakery and two main shrines.

Absolutely spectacular place. Looks very massive in size. Temple is awesome but shame none can go in because of stupid corona. Priests were east to talk to and super friendly. You can buy amulets from them. The ginkgo tree which is extremely old is fantastic. Imagine the things that happened over its life span. It’s not far from ikebukuro station and is really worth going!

If you are interested in Japanese candy and old temples, you should go here. Dagashi are sweets that have been popular in Japan since the Showa period (1926-1989), are very inexpensive, and are mainly eaten by children.

Although you can’t see Kishimojin in the main hall far behind, you can see the statue in the compound. Also near entrance you see 2 Nioh the guardians near the gate where it used to have Torii gate and was removed. 2nd largest Ginko tree, 2 lucky gods are enshrined there.

Kishimojin is temple in Toshima , it was great when I visiting there because that time there was sakura matsuri. The sakura bloom , there samoe festival to celebate it

The temple is nice enough I guess. The bald headed man working at the desk there stared at us aggressively non stop and we felt uncomfortable there. This was the only temple or shrine we visited out of about 20 - 30 we didn't pick up any omamori amulets because this man's strange staring made us want to leave quickly.

A temple right outside in front of a market was a little shocking but a very interesting location compared to other temples. Obviously not as quiet or serene like other temples but lots of bustling activity here.

A temple from the sixteen hundreds that you guys should totally visit if you are in tokyo. A get away from all the noise and busyness of the city, come and find peace. Photos don't really show how beautiful it is. A bit of history: Kishimojin Temple is dedicated to the Buddhist deity, Kishimojin. A goddess who cares for and protects children, Kishimojin also helps mothers with their deliveries. The goddess will often be found with a child in one hand and a pomegranate in the other, symbols of her undying love and fertility. But, as the legend goes, the goddess was not always so kind and benevolent. In her early days, she was actually a horrifying demon who, in an effort to feed her thousands of children, would go out and abduct other children to serve as food. One day, as she went out looking for kids, the Buddha hid one of her children. In a fit of panic at losing her child, the demon became enlightened to the suffering of other mothers and swore to protect their children

The once-a-month DIY market in this temple was just amazing. Last time we went there were about seventies stalls out there selling some of the finest handmade, creative, artistic, practical, and unique clothing, decoration, food, and household items. Most stall-owners were extremely friendly to passersby even though (s)he might not end up making a purchase. Just an ideal place!

Maybe this is the most beautiful entrance gate I have ever passed, here in Rikkyo University located in Ikebukuro. It was quite enjoyable to strolling around and admiring the building. Actually the Netflix drama First Love or Hatsukoi brought me here

One ivy league university in the middle of Tokyo. Go there to remember the red bricks of Harvard or Cornell university. Of course, the environment is Japanese but with some American smell.

I've studied there for 6 months as an exchange student and it was a really good experience. The campus is quite big and beautiful. The food at the cafeteria is also super cheap (300 yens per meals) and the staff is very helpful. They really help the exchange students so when you arrive you dont feel lost.

I had a very good experience in this university. Although the tuition was not very cheap to afford, there were various types of scholarship that you can apply. I remember that I received approx. 30 man yen of scholarship in addition to the national scholarship when I had a chance to study abroad in Europe for two semesters. I had less financial support by my parents, so thanks to this university I could have rich experience! ♡

I value my educational experience in Rikkyo University so much. Located on best area in Tokyo, beautiful scenery around the year, nice people and full of professionals. I had the honor to participate in setting up the Prayer Room. Thank you Allah 🙏🏻♥️♥️

Nice place, to be sure. But, world’s largest pipe organ? Hahahah! Does anyone at google proof these outrageous claims? Atlantic City, Philadelphia, New York City, just three of the cities with pipe organs far larger than this. Not even the largest mechanical action pipe organ, that one is found in Sydney Opera House in Australia. Try better, people. (rolling eyes)

The place is iconic and grandeur, yet, the hardworking staff and guards with a lot of rules and area regulations for hygiene and security are a bit overwhelming. Well, of course, once you’re inside and seated, everything unnecessary for enjoying the show will fly away, so no bother, actually, since the magnificent stage design and well-spaced seating are just great. The theatre are accessible from many directions of the building including through the underground malls, but you’ll eventually need processing your ticket on a specific floor with a lot of other guests, so take a good time and mind for meeting your stars in stage before entering. Small but a functional box office for the day tickets (if there are any), goods shop and intermission bar are usually available on each event.

The open escalator to the concert hall is actually an attraction and induces acrophobia especially when one brings weighty bags and imagines one's back. In the concert hall every seat sees the stage at an enough slant.

Watched an orchestra performance at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. It was worth while. The atmosphere and staff are brilliant, the acoustics suit the music well and the seats are comfortable too. I would recommend it if you get the chance.

Aesthetically nice building. Even better in the rain. A nice photo spot for hobby photographer like myself.

Very nice place to take a break from walking. There are soft comfy chairs. A free water fountain if you have your own bottles!! Trash can in the women’s bathroom also useful.

Sci-fi looking building with very welcoming interior. The stage and seats have very “contemporary theatre” vibe. Pleasant experience.

Very nice concert hall with lovely acoustics. The London Symphony Orchestra sounded superb in this hall.

Great place for Music and Arts! The orchestra which i played with rented the Symphony Space for our final rehearsal. It was good, the lobby is nice too!

Had a really good experience. They had a cultural festival there. People were dancing their traditional dance. Multiple food options full of colors and light. I really enjoyed it.

A great event place with a lot to offer. The location itself is very central and accessible. This area has a lot of restaurants of different variety. Though a busy area, crowded with tall buildings, the Global Ring (event place and stage) is quite big and spacious. Also, the place has different food trucks during events.

A good place to just seat and pass times. A bus stop is adjacent. There is also a coffee shop.

This place is clean even at 6am in the morning! I was here waiting for my bus to go to Narita Airport. The public toilet nearby is also surprisingly clean at that early hour in the morning!

A park close to the station. Good place for relaxing. This park also has a International Mother Language Day Monument (martyr’s Monument) , Which they preserve nicely.

A beautiful park. I worked out here in the morning while visiting Tokyo. Great place to relax and people watch. They have a stage and shows there. But I didn't see any while I was there.

An iconic spot in Ikebukuro and a good way to rest for a bit. As it’s quite popular it’s usually difficult to find a free spot on the benches. There’s a cafe as well, and it’s not a Starbucks. The fountains are very entertaining to watch too if you want some downtime

When in Japan, napolitan is a must. Theirs had a homey old school taste which I love and their pizza toast was great as well with the fluffy bread over. Will definitely be back again for the great service and good food

Cafe is burning hot. They don't know how to steam milk. Capuccino is made with cream instead of milk and not based on espresso. The menu combinations are very limited and apply only to plain coffee, not coffee varieties. If you want anything else you pay the full price instead of a supplement. Food is okay, but expensive if you don't take the combos. The place doesn't seem to have a non smoke area, so it smells like cigarettes.

Convenient option for an early breakfast and coffee, located very close to Prince hotel inside the Sunshine City mall. Limited menu, but kids pancakes were a hit! Prices a little high. Friendly service. Decaf option which was appreciated.

Lots of seating including comfy chairs. Drinks were great, but took forever to make and place is a bit run down (tiles missing from backsplash and no one tidying up the common areas).

Basically fusion. western food was cooked in Japanese style. Food was ok, but they allow us to choose different size portion of noodles. Which is great for people who eats less/ more that they can order less. Ordering a large portion does not cost extra. Only the extra large portion had a charge but very cheap (cant remember the price). The large portion had filled a grown up man.

I took the pizza out of the packaging and now it’s piled up on a plate so here’s the packaging it came in. This is the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten. It is a pile of sickening sweet lasagne texture slop on mushy bread. I’m so upset this is on sale and that more people might make it he mistake of eating it. The department store overall has some useful shops, but the pizza is minus 100 stars, so overall 2/5.

Massive department store where you can buy almost everything. I especially like the food section with freshly, readily made food (you always get a good catch for lunch or dinner).

Like any department stores next to a big station, lots of floors of fancy boutiques, but always some affordable shops like Daiso 100¥ (giant, with sub-stores Standard Products and Threeppy) and Uniqlp. Bottom floors selling sweets, beautiful edible goods, fresh food in basement, restaurants in upper floors... But this Tobu also offers a nice terrace on the 8th floor's Sky Deck! BBQ restaurant and beer, quite different from the scene down the street in busy Ikebukuro! If you are looking for nice bathrooms and benches to sit (a rarity in Japan), try the upper floors 😆

Fair prices and helpful staff. Was looking for some furniture. Found better deals here then I have seen on Amazon.

This place has a massive daiso (100 yen) store. If you can't find what you want here you ain't gonna find it in any other physical store in the area cept for Don Quiote super fun amazing extratastic variety store across the street

The department is older but it’s got everything. They offer 5% additional discount for tourists. To get it, get a code from klook first (it’s free), at the department store go to the level 2 tax refund counter to exchange for the discount. They will need a passport to issue the discount. This 5% applies only to cash purchases. But it can be added on top of the tax refund = more savings.

This is such a huge department store. It's almost hard to find what I want. So I just do window shopping and get something if I found one. Now they have Bakery Festival temporary(23-28 June)at 8F. It was fun to look around lots of local bread which I had never seen. I tried a piece of banana bread from khanom in Kamakura and canele from pattisserie Sadaharu Aoki. Both are good enough for weekends treats! :))
