An excellent venue. Great theatre and gallery space. Main performances in large theatre with superb sound and large staging space. Don't miss the other performances in their smaller theatre space at much reduced prices. Visibility is excellent. The first row of circle is great with no obstruction. Note that Phone signal inside main theatre is very poor.

Love this theatre, it hasn’t got the same features other older theatres do, but the seats are comfy and you have much more space than other theatres! All the shows I’ve seen here, I’ve enjoyed and never had an issue with restricted views.

Very good venue in Salford a d next to the media city. Also beateful at night with all lights lighting sound it. One problem at the moment is the road work and hence the way to get to it. Another problem is this car park at the end of good and full house performance it is difficult to exit the car park quickly or quick enough. Be prepared. Last night attended megnificent and performance by John Bishop and experienced that. The place has every to complete going to the theatre. Fantastic restaurant 🍴 bars outside restaurants near by and shopping centre. Also there are public transports next to it. A few buses and the metro link a few minutes enjoyable walk. Then you can see the media city and at night the night. Also the ship cannal there to see day or night 🌃.

The best theatre I’ve went to. The seats were comfortable and they were placed so that you see in between the people in front of you, rather than directly behind them, so you get a good view regardless of where you’re sitting - we were seated at the very back of the stalls but still managed to see everything well. I would definitely return in the future!

Sooo beautiful, it was spacious and the view was amazing as time goes the place become more and more beautiful the lights the Dj and everything was perfect, had soo much fun with my friends, I got a little lost but found my way very fast (kinda) recommended for parties✨✨ btw it depends on the decoration that u have done for us we did a mascarade theme party.

Definitely one of my favourite places to visit and I'll be returning in future! It's a bit of a challenge to drive the first time but once you've done it a couple of times it's relatively straightforward. The location is beautiful and the theatre itself is great.

went to see Sea Sick Steve. Great tickets nr the front and therefore good sound too. However found it a bit of a maze to work out where our seats were. First couple of attendants just tried to sit us down in entirely wrong seats and we were told to go to the wrong part of the theatre twice. The bar area was q large and relatively easy to get served....although shut q early. Id give the concert 5 but the theatre 3 For bigger gigs or shows id ensure that I was in my seat earlier

Lovely albeit chaotic visit to the Julia Donaldson exhibition. I had thought it would be a little more structured and perhaps follow a route around but it was a free for all, and direction, and way and although my two boys loved it I found it all very stressful 🫣 it seemed so crowded it was hard to see any of the displays properly. The staff were so helpful and friendly in guiding us to the galleries.

Beautiful building and venue with several theatres in the one location. Sitting looking over the river. Great for having pre drinks before your show. Large parking near by which you can have included with your ticket and the flow of the location is brilliant with bright coloured layout throughout and several bars and restaurants to choose from. Will be back and highly recommend

We visited the Julia and Axel exhibition at the Lowry. It is a free exhibition and is fantastic for all ages. It also includes the L.S. Lowry exhibition which is well worth a visit. You can easily spend a full day here because there is so much to see. It is ideal for kids to visit during the summer holidays and it is on until the start of January 2024. It is a well planned exhibition. Full marks to the organisers.

Lowry Galleries – A great place where the artwork takes centre stage What is the Lowry Art Gallery? The Lowry Art Gallery is a modern art space that is located in the heart of Salford, Greater Manchester. It is a great place for art fans where a variety of permanent and temporary exhibitions take place throughout the year. In addition there is the LS Lowry collection where there is a beautiful selection of his artwork and paintings that are on display. Exhibitions Visited Julia and Axel – Thirty Years Of Favourite Stories Who are Julia and Axel? This exhibition charts the lives of writer Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler. It also showcases the brilliant illustrations from their famous works. Julia is famous for children stories including The Gruffalo, The Smartest Giant in Town, Zog, and more. Beautiful Stories This exhibition showcased each story that is written by Julia Donaldson in a lovely way. Each one such as Zog gave us a eye-catching summary of what the story entails and the characters involved. It is done in a way that is engaging and appealing to both adults and children. The Illustrations are magical Axel Scheffler’s artwork and illustrations are brought to life by injecting a large palette of colours. They were imaginative and captivating to see. However, descriptions were on the thin side. I expected a bit more. Games and interaction It was great to see the exciting flaps on the walls where if opened it revealed little interactive one liners and silly games which are mostly aimed at children. I would have liked to have seen something interactive too that was aimed more for adults. The Exhibition as a whole It was a good exhibition that gave an interesting insight at the work that a hard-working partnership have produced. The way that it was organised was great in that for each story they produced they gave you a summary, creative artwork that related to each storybook however the downside in that it was aimed at a younger audience. It is great that this exhibition is designed with care at children but I expected more for adults. They should have injected something exciting for them whilst the kids are enjoying the activities for them. Entry and Admission This exhibition Julia and Axel – Thirty Years of Favourite Stories is free to enter however due to the busy demand then you are required to book a time slot ticket in order to guarantee entry. Facilities There is a Tower Café on the premises but not on the same floor that offers a variety of sandwiches, cakes and drinks at a reasonable price. There are other cafes nearby if that is not your taste. Toilets are on site. Lighting and Access The environment in which the exhibition took place was well lit which meant that I was able to take advantage by seeing all the artwork and reading the summaries for the stories produced. In relation to access at the Lowry Gallery then there are lifts or escalators that will enable you to access the floor in which the exhibition is taking place. Parking Parking is available at the Quayside Media City UK (formerly The Lowry car park). If you have a Blue Badge then you can stamp the ticket at Customer Services where you can get 4 hours free. This takes effect from the time of arrival. If you go over that time then you are required to pay £1.10 per hour over. If you are a fan of Julia and Axel’s work and you want to learn more in an interesting way or that you have children that love the story books then you are guaranteed to have a great day out at the Lowry Gallery for their current exhibition. Grab those tickets before it ends

Great angles from all over made watching a great play really enjoyable. And what a production! Really creative but with some fun moments given such a morbid subject. Note: there were lots of young children in attendance and I would have said 12A was a better rating for this show but your mileage may vary. Getting out of the carpark at the end was a major pain and took almost half an hour so be prepared to be patient.

We just visited the lowry exhibition and had an amazing day, it was such a privilege to be so up close and personal to so many of his works. An extra special thank you to Martin and his colleague for 2 very informative talks and taking the time and interest to answer our questions. Also, lunch in Pier 8 was great value and very tasty. Well worth a visit.

A great day with the kids. A gorgeous Julia Donaldson's exhibition, lots of fun in the play area and at the play kitchen within the bar. I can see how it would be a great place to go and see a show and have some drinks beforehand.

Gorgeous theatre. Absolutely huge. Sound is amazing in there too. And staff and crew are fantastic, really helpful and made my night playing there a breeze. Great venue as a punter, one of Manchester’s finest.

Lovely riverside location with large selection of shopping and eateries nearby. Lots of cultural venues in this location also. Even for a jog or stroll up and down the river to see all the buildings of river boats that you can use it is hugely interesting location.

This place is a ghost town. Wish we hadn’t bothered visiting, as there’s hardly anything here worth visiting for anymore, and the parking is no longer free upon validation of a purchase receipt. Furthermore, customer services are useless! We put cash into one of the children’s rides near the car park pay machines, and the machine didn’t work. When I visited customer services, they already knew about it, and pretty much just shrugged it off like they were sick of hearing about it with a comment about “oh have you put money in it too”. They claimed they couldn’t do anything to help other than suggest I email the company that runs them. They wouldn’t entertain my suggestion of turning the machine off or putting a sign on it. To top it off, the overpriced car park was completely unlit when we exited to the car. Not very safe for families with young children. Won’t be visiting this place again until it’s been flattened and turned into something a bit more appealing.

Nice place with some great attractions when they're on, otherwise nothing much happening during the daytime. W3 were there for the "Floating Earth" exhibition on Thursday, the night it reopened, it was cold, wet and windy and all the coffee shops in the Lowry Outlet were closed. Couldn't find another coffee shop anywhere and didn't want to sit in a bar for one. My biggest issue with Media City itself is that being an amateur photographer I do visit now and then but over zealous security hassle you if you have anything larger than a compact camera, doesn't matter about anyone using a phone or small compact that probably cost more than most, "Professional Looking" cameras, certainly my old entry level dslr that I had up until this time last year. God forbid you get a Tripod out, they are on you like flies around, you know the rest. I'm registered disabled so need to use one quite often.

First time I have been to Makers Market that it’s situated in front of the Lowry Theatre and the Lowry Shopping Centre, and I enjoyed myself even though I didn’t purchase anything even though my eyes where on the cakes and other food item. Also I had a stroll around the quays and around media city where the tv studios are. I didn’t go on the cruise boat that offered trips are the lock area etc, as didn’t plan that. But maybe would if researched the events that they hold. Came here as something different and if you have time maybe visit the Imperial War Museum, in which I have been too in the past.

Awesome. It was a lifetime experience. Vast expanse of water body with amazing structure of bridges across the water body at various point, well maintained area housing all popular cos Viz BBC, i TV, Loury, pizza express, Imperial War Museum etc. Water sports activities are also there

Visited to see the kids book exhibit by Julia donaldson. Wow! Really good experience. My wife is an aspiring writer and learning how the process done by Julia Donaldson constructs the story was fascinating. Not to mention the kids really loved the exhibit too. All their favorite books in one place. Spent a few hours here with the family learning, playing and immersing ourselves in literature. Car park was on site and it was well sign posted. Great venue bug even better exhibit.

Had a day at Salford Quays and really enjoyed it. The whole area was very clean, very easy to get around and had a nice relaxed feel. Even though it was a Saturday we didn't feel rushed. The actual quay side was very modern and the apartments weren't tower blocks. As we were leaving, about 5pm to get home, about a 3hr journey, the lights came on and their reflection on the water was lovely

Beautiful scenery is great for a location shoots and has many production studios including Peel Media, BBC, ITV Studios, ITV Granada, NEP Connect, University of Salford, Warner Bros, Dock 10 Studios, Unity Radio Manchester. I have worked with a few of these studios and it's nice to go to the Quays to escape for a while.

As soulless, expensive, gentrified and lacking in basic services places go, this is a perfect example. Streets are the cleanest I have seen in the UK tho.

I love this area. There are lots of eateries and the ‘vibe’ is great especially when the sun is out. It’s a really modern area and I would highly recommend a visit. The walk around next the water is fab too. You can even hop on a boat, booking advised.

I have already written a review for the Lowry Outlet Mall as this place is known locally so apologies if I’m repeating myself. I walk here most days as it is a very pleasant walk through Media City to get here. The Mall itself is smaller than the nearby Trafford Centre however that is part of its charm. It is far less busy for one thing and for a second you can pick up some real bargains. There is an M&S, NEXT and CREW clothing shops as well as many others. There are some health food shops, charity shops and several cafes including a CSTA Coffee. Upstairs there is a food hall with a seating area. There’s a Harry Ramsden’s fish and chips, a Burger King and Tandoori Delights which is my favourite. There are others too. Downstairs there is a new Street Food hall called Kargo Market with many food stalls, seating and a bar serving alcoholic drinks. Opposite Kargo Market there is a nice restaurant from 7 brothers called 11 Central which I have done a separate review for. There is a great cinema too!. There is a car park in the mall and there are tram and bus links to the area Thanks for reading

I visited the area with my son and family when we went to the Lowery Art Gallery / museum. Mainly visiting the Julia and Axel experience. Very interesting. My granddaughter loved looking around the different areas for some of the books they have written. Gruffalo, Zog, Snail and the Whale, and The Ugly Five to name a few . Lovely area to sit and read the books . We also passed through the Lowery section . Beautiful paintings with a video area about the artist. Lots of other things going on in there too.

Fabulous modern buildings plenty of places to eat, War Museum and Lowry Theatre

I come on a quiet week day and driven for 25 minutes and arrived. However, back to my home only 20 minutes which is a lot faster though. My friends search on Google and were attracted by the outlets here. Frankly speaking there are a lot of outlets and places to go like the museum. However, the first floor is mostly empty and obviously due to the lack of flow of people and the number of intended people to be served is not as planned as the council desired. Clarks, Next, M&S Outlets are here and they have some bargains price. However, the view is good and the convenience of this place should have attracted more people to come. The riverside view is good and they have boats for touring too. If the council want this place to be vibrant, I think they should plan more events and serve the community better. As you can see there's not really a lot of people here. And I wonder how the expensive rental and properties market can sustain.

Attended Comic Relief recording with Lenny Henry and Davina McCall on Thursday. What lovely people they are. The performance was great. Heard a worrying story from the Wednesday evening recording where an audience member apparently had a Lenny Henry autograph confiscated by a BBC floor manager. The autograph was returned later by another concerned celebrity attendee fortunately. Not a good look for the BBC on Red Nose Day however. Perhaps some additional training is required to help staff be more empathetic to the guest audience? I myself was confronted by a member of security staff on leaving who tried to stop me using a toilet. She relented when I vocally shared that I needed to pee! Again some guest empathy training would help licence payers to be confident, that the BBC cares about us ordinary folk?

You can have a nice walk round plenty to see and there is a war museum over the bridge with free entry , good day out

Love media city always something happening and lots of filming goes on in this area. Whether it’s a bite to eat, a drink, shopping or a show there’s plenty to do and see. Lovely to go for a walk around in good weather.

I just love Media city/Salford Quays a good selection of bars and restaurants. Lovely place for a walk too, especially if it's decent weather. Some outlet shopping available. Reasonable price parking.

MediaCityUK is a clean and safe place in Salford. Several restaurants are nearby, and you can get the things you need in Co-op . Buses and trams are available, so it is easy to go to the city center. Personally, I love the sunset views of MediaCity which is fantastic. In general, it is a really good place for living.

Cool place to chill around. Suitable for individuals and families. It offers nice variety of restaurants, cafes and a mall and a museum. There is a multi-story carpark as well as bus and tram, so getting there is super convenient. In general a decent place to hang around by yourself or with friends or family especially on weekends while you’re in Manchester area.

Lovely place to visit especially if the sun is out. Loads of places to see and visit and a lot of bars and restaurants in quite a small area. Recommend a visit.

Easy to reach on tram from Piccadilly and a good place to stay in if you're doing the Coronation Street tour, MediaCity in Salford has everything you need. There are plenty of bars restaurants and grocery stores, as well as other interesting things to spot related to UK TV industry which keep the kids entertained (Blue Peter garden or giant Upsy Daisy, anyone?). We stayed in a serviced apartment with amazing views at night of the lights. We picked up nibbles from the Coop and made the most of the views from our balcony, pretending we were in New York or Dubai ;D .

Wonderful place to enjoy the scenery and the area has restaurants, so an ideal place for social gatherings.

Lovely area that is still in development and will eventually be the place to be in Manchester. Useful public transport links that can get you around the city too. Some nice places to eat and drink. From home the Holiday inn is a nice view

This place is nice for a walk and an afternoon coffee, preferably to go before sunset to enjoy the view. Otherwise, it’s completely dark. The good thing is that the tram stops right next to it and you dont have to walk much.

I love this place. Media City Salford is an ideal walking destination. The area is flat and wheelchair friendly. There are plenty of bars and restaurants. The BBC and ITV are here too as well as the Coronation Street studios so you may see the odd celebrity knocking about the place. There is a theatre, Outlet Shopping mall with street food restaurants in Kargo Market. The Blue Peter Garden is here too which is Beautiful. In the summer there is usually some event or other on in the small park which has deck chairs for convenience and pop up beer tents. In Winter the area is beautifully decorated with Xmas decorations. There are occasionally people riding bikes fast through the pedestrian areas but that seems to be the norm everywhere now unfortunately. Other than that I would say this is a very pretty and accessible place to visit. There are also two paid car parks, two hotels and bus & tram links to the area

Really nice area to eat, drink, catch a movie, enjoy some art and theatre. Had a nice day out and I’ll be visiting soon again

Fabulous Tudor hall in the middle of Salford. Very interesting interior and lovely gardens. Lots of information given here by staff and info boards. Nice little cafe and it's free to visit. Well worth spending some time here.

I’ve always wanted to visit Ordsall Hall as it’s close to where I live. I wasn’t disappointed when I eventually got there! There is plenty of parking available which has a very low charge. Entrance to the hall is free and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hall is more of a museum than a full on stately hall so the old parts are amazing and bursting with history. There are loads of story boards, videos and learning experiences. You can even get dressed up in period costume but I gave that a miss on this day ! The hall will be amazing in spring summer but still lots to experience in winter too. Note - they are not open on Saturdays.

Beautiful Building and grounds. I had a lovely afternoon making a Christmas wreath, everything we used was provided from the grounds and gardens. Lovely head gardener lead the session with very helpful volunteers at hand! I thoroughly enjoyed, thank you 😊

Magnificent Tudor Mansion, recently restored to display the history of the families and landscape transformation around it. The visiting path is modernly designed, and involving, especially for the youngest, with living guided tours, costumes dressing and practical experiences. Personnel very welcoming and helpful, seems genuinely dedicated to his duty. Ample gardens where to relax and enjoy food and drink from the cafe. Nice visitor shop. Entrance is free, but the place surely deserve a generous donation!

An absolutely beautiful historic house and gardens, with lots of fun and educational things for kids to interact with. Nice little cafe and shop. A real spot of tranquility in the city. And all free and accessible! Will definitely be back.

My wife and I visited today and had a great time. There's a lot of history to be had, beautiful gardens, a small cafe and gift shop, as well as being easy to get to (a short walk from Exchange Quay tram stop). Steve was really friendly and very knowledgeable.

Absolute gem of a historic place in Salford with free entry. We came years ago when my daughter was little (she's 22 now) & I can't honestly say why we forgot about this place but so glad we remembered. A few of my family & friends visited yesterday & had a fantastic time. There's loads to do for children or all ages & the adults will find it very informative. Please note there are lots of stairs all over the Hall so it makes it awkward pushing prams, our friend opted to leave her pram at the space near the toilets but we saw some struggling up the few stairs to get into the star chamber (& before you say it yes we did help them & didn't leave them to struggle) Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate as it was pouring down so our original plan of having a picnic went out the window but there is a small cafe inside but please note you can only eat & drink food purchased in the cafe. There are picnic benches in the grounds near the car park so on a nice time it would be good to have your lunch there. We found all the staff extremely friendly & helpful & have to give a big shout out to Cynthia, we met her in the star chamber & she was a wealth of information on the marriage bed (I didn't know beforehand the history of marriage beds & found it very interesting) & the history of the family who originally owned it. Throughout the Hall there are places where kids & even adults can dress up in period clothes, we had some little kids in our party & they loved it. The Opening Times are Mon - Thurs 10am - 4pm but please check their website to confirm before visiting. As a bargain hunter the free entry is fantastic (you can hardly go anywhere for free these days) although there is a suggested £3 donation. We visited the cafe & had hot drinks & ice-cream for the kids & even I found the cost very reasonable (I'm notorious for hating visiting cafes in musuems etc because of the high cost). I was surprised they were closed at the weekends but whilst sitting in the cafe & looking the photos I realized they host weddings at the Hall at the weekends to generate revenue. Because of the bad weather we didn't look around the gardens but we intend to visit when the weather is nice & explore the gardens in full & have our picnic. There is a small car park with 48 spaces, we didn't have any problem parking, not sure if that was the weather but the cost was £2.50 for up to 3 hours which I think is plenty of time to see the Hall, look around the gardens & even have a picnic or eat in the cafe (We only stayed 2 hours). All things considered it's a must-do to visit Ordsall Hall

Fantastic experience, staff so polite and helpful,an knowledgeable,Head gardener so polite and made time to talk to us,could tell by the beautiful grounds she is passionate and hard working in her job, would certainly recommend Ordsall Hall experience to anyone and thank you for it .we'll be certainly going back in the summer.

Ordsall Hall is a well maintained heritage building. It has many friendly and supportive staff to make you a wonderful visit. BTW, no admission fee, donation is welcome, parking fee is reasonable (£2.50 for three hours ).

Waay too underrated! The whole story gave me goosebumps throughout the castle! U cannot go there and tell me it wasn’t worth it! There was amazing staff that u could literally talk to for hours! A lovely lady told us the whole story of that mansion. Even the scary but heartbreaking ghost story (lady in white). Anyways, just the little artifacts and the architecture is worth seeing! So if you’re thinking of visiting, you should definitely go there! There’s even a huge garden surrounding the place!

A great cheap day out. (Free if you walk there!) Having lived next to Ordsall for a number of years, I felt the need to check it out. Between modern residential streets, Ordsall Hall sits with beautiful architecture and well kept gardens. The staff are really friendly and there are a number of interactive elements for kids. We walked around the whole building in around half an hour. But we could have taken it even slower. With a rich history and some great stuff on display, I highly recommend you check it out.

I’ve lived right next to this museum for a while and just thought to visit and oh it was so beautiful. Such a small yet beautiful place. Has loads of history. I recommend watching the 10 mins documentary showing on the first floor. Gives a lot of insight to the community and building as a whole.

As a free to visit historical house it was a good find and broke up our last day in Manchester. It isn’t a particularly big venue and you won’t be blown away but it’s historical attributes but it’s a nice visit and has great historical architecture. It won’t take too long to go around the space. We were there for 20 minutes

We really enjoyed our visit here. The hall had a lot of history & ghost stories. The staff were great, and knew every question I asked about the hall. There is a lovely cafe with cakes & well made drinks. It is free but donations would be welcome.

This place feels like such a gem. It’s so unexpected to see such a historic building right in the middle of modern housing. It probably takes about an hour to visit and look around everything but you could spend longer trying hats and helmets on and taking pictures at the dining table. Very helpful and friendly staff too

Fantastic day out. The hall is free and the parking is 5.50 for up to 6 hours. I took my 7 year old to see an outdoor theatre production of Hercules, it was amazing, we are definitely going to go and see an outdoor production there again. Great value for money. Having never been there before, I was really suprised at what we found. The staff who work there are friendly and very informative. The hall itself was great to look around with lots of trying on armour and traditional tudor dress. Outside the grounds are very well kept and we met a gardener who was really helpful with advice on growing sweetcorn and other veg. The cafe and gift shop are reasonably priced. They take card :) The toilets are plentiful and very clean. A great place to go and have a picnic weather (depending) there is also outdoor seating on a terrace,we took our own folding chairs. Fantastic gem of a place . A great day out!(

A diamond in the rough, what an amazing hidden gem. What a well kept building with a lovely cafe and many helpful friendly staff to guide you around or add extra information to your visit.

An afternoon tea on the beautiful bridgewater canal what could be more peaceful and quaint. Well certainly not with Bridgewater cruises feel like I have just come off a booze cruise. I accept that they can't choose who goes on these cruises but when they spend all their time serving alcohol rather than catering to guests who actually want an afternoon tea then it is down to them. The food itself was extremely average but the wait for the tea or coffee was unacceptable most of the sandwiches and scones were eaten before we got our first drink. Even then that was just a cup of barely warm tea and coffee, no pot of tea or cafetiere as you would expect. Then when you want a refill you have to wait for them to cater to all the alcoholic drinks.Each time we asked for a new drink it came colder and colder as they just use a flask. If you are looking for an enjoyable afternoon tea definitely choose somewhere else.

Lovely afternoon tea today. Really enjoyed the experience. The food was plentiful and very fresh. Sandwiches, soup and cakes were delicious and really nicely presented. Staff were excellent and the trip very relaxing. Would go again.

Absolutely fantastic!! Our Skipper Kevin was brilliant, very friendly and professional. The Barge was just brilliant so clean, spacious and well equipped. From booking online,to arriving to board, Bridgewater cruises have been fantastic. Will definitely be booking again. The fact my mum who is currently using a wheelchair was able to be with us, just completed a truly wonderful family experience!!

The trip with a large group from Boothstown to the Barton Swing Bridge was a wonderful experience. The staff were wonderfully helpful and friendly. The food was excelent, And the trip relaxing and informative. Bags of assistance too to help those with mobility problems on and off the boat.

This experience is great for anyone interested in history in our local area! There's lots to look at in a small space and there's also an art gallery which is good because the different pictures all have different interpretations and you can really see a story from them. The food is nice too. I wouldn't spend a full day here but I would recommend visiting

Great experience here. Dropped by for a quick visit before going back to London. We came down for a couple days on a birthday trip. Loved seeing the shop area showcasing local artists cards and prints for sale. Grabbed a gift for a friend. Favourite part was George Shepherd exhibit. I enjoy photography and love the story behind it, seeing the gems that were found and framed on the walls. Lovely polite member of staff greeted us at the desk on arrival and was very helpful. Upon our leaving they did ask how we found it, offered us recommendations and even told us that a couple ladies from one of the photos realised they were in one and brought their other friend from the photo along for an emotional reunion time.

Came along with school trip. Engaging experience with touching and thinking through Victorian objects: what they are and what they would have been used for. Great exercise, but could have been far shorter, with a change of space and a time to look around at the interesting paintings and sculptures, to keep kids interested. The Victorian street was fascinating for kids and adults.

Nice size of museum, small pay and display parking (£2.50 for a few hours min.may2023) reasonably priced cafe and a nice little park right next to the museum. The text describing artwork is small so you have to be tight up to the wall to read, which then stops others seeing the artwork. Be careful with directions as if you are in the wrong lane you can turn off too early leading to a big loop to get back.

Lovely place to visit, the old cobbled Street and old shops are still there along with 2 carriages which would've been horse drawn back in the day. The art gallery up the stairs full of painting are fabulous. There's some really huge ones hanging on the walls. There's also a cafe and gift shop on sight. At the back is Peel Park. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable .

Used to come here with grandad now im coming with my little girl. Love the Victorian street with all the old shop's pub and houses. I think they should make it longer put more in there. Coffee shop is lovely nice cup of coffee and salted caramel cake. Parking available onsite though make sure you got change otherwise its by parking app. We got the bus v1 and v2 from tyldesley stop right outside as do many others. Had a lovely walk round peel park reminiscing about old times where we used to live facing the park.

Memories from my childhood, I took 2 grandchildren for a visit, and they enjoyed the experience. Lots of interesting exhibits, and the Victorian Street a glimpse of the past.

A wonderful place a real step back in time. They had an educational talk on Victorian washing which was obviously enjoyed by all the children. All staff are so helpful. Thoroughly recommend a visit. Cafe very reasonable prices.

This place was a great find for an afternoon out with something for all ages. The gallery has some historical art works with originals by Salford painters (including LS Lowry and Harold Riley). There is also a more contemporary art gallery with interesting audiovisual elements. Throughout there are fun activities for kids; books, colouring and discovery boxes in the art gallery for example. There is an old Victorian doll's house which our little ones enjoyed looking at. The Victorian Street is very unique and atmospheric. There were some dressing-up clothes which our kids loved and made the Victorian experience all the more authentic! There is a well-priced cafe and a little shop which included some old original books and good gift options. Artworks and crafts by local artists are also available to buy. Parking is available outside (limited on busier days), it was £2.50 for 3hrs and you can use the paybyphone app or website if you don't have change for the machine.

Great place to spend a couple of hours wandering around the exhibitions. And it's free! The staff are all lovely, chatty and really helpful. Great soup and coffee for lunch in the café too.

Lovely Museum to visit. The Lark Hill exhibition is just amazing and definitely worth a visit. Downside to the visit was a parking fine, I had paid and parked between two other parked cars, so becareful as I had paid but it said undesignated parking space?! How are you supposed to know within a row of cars. Put a dampener on the visit!!

The main room of the gallery has some great paintings & sculptures whilst the Lark Hill Place takes you back to the streets of London of the 18th/19th century or the Shambles of York. The Halloween deco added some spooky touch to it 🎃👻

It's one if the BEST museums in Manchester, especially Lark Hill Place in the ground floor which is a fantastic showing of people's life in 19th century. You can walk in old Victorian Street re-constructed from original shops, and feel how people lived in ancient UK. You can find beautiful galleries in upper floor and finally have a coffee in its great cafe.

Really enjoyed my visit, the street was cool to look at and at the time was decorated up for Christmas so was lovely. Unfortunately, we didn't get up to the gallery this time but will definitely try to go back again and check it out.

Fantastic little stadium. Staff were friendly, they got bag checks etc done efficiently and got you through the turnstiles quickly. Inside was clean, even the toilets seemed in good order. Food and drink was reasonably priced for a stadium, not cheap, but also not ludicrously expensive. Seating was, for what it is, relatively comfortable. Still not great if you're over 6 foot.

Easy to get to and with great parking. The conference and exhibition facilities are really good. All in all a very convenient location.

A great Day out, culminating in watching a good game of rugby in poor weather conditions. Seen some old heads in Big Bayfield and Dallalgio.

I was here for a conference, not the rugby, but what a great venue this is. Plenty of car parking, excellent facilities, great views across towards the Trafford Centre and M60. Excellent food and service. Leaving is the only negative, as everyone leaving all at once can cause long queues. Brilliant venue though, easily accessible. Well worth booking as a conference venue.

Big screen (single screen!) doesn't work, massive slow moving queue at bar, inaudible tannoy system - only good thing is plentiful free parking in nearby Trafford Centre with £1 return shuttle bus (remember to pre-book)

The bar was far too slow so we could not get a drink at half time because of the ridiculous queue. My wife got food poisoning from a hotdog there and spent 18 hours throwing up from both ends.

Was a great atmosphere. The problem comes to the parking. When the game finishes there is absolute chaos in the south car park with everyone creating about 17 different lines of traffic to exit. Picture of the match as it's a great pitch

Refereed a game at the AJ Bell Stadium between iSports Sale and Stockport County U18. The stadium complex is pretty good really. Lots of parking available and the 3G pitch is exceptional. Easy enough to get to as it is 5 minutes off the M60. I would imagine that on Match Days for the Rugby it would be mad busy. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Great looking building, but was undergoing renovations so not able to look around, apart from the Smiths Room and the cafe/shop. Some good souvenirs available for purchase. Small amount of parking around the building but don’t know if any restrictions.

This iconic building is full of history, and it is nice to see that it is run by amazing people. The Smiths Room is managed by Leslie, a very nice guy that is enthusiastic about preserving the club's legacy. He makes sures that the visitors learn about the history of the building and the band. I just came here to take a photo of the iconic building front. I hadn't booked on a tour, but as we arrived the building was being opened and the very kind gentleman invited us in despite us not having booked the tour. He took us to the Smiths room and told us about the history of the building etc. He was super lovely. It is a wee bit out of the way from the centre, but it is worth the visit for those who are Smith's Fans :)

I visited The Salford Lads Club one Saturday morning recently, I was aware of the connections it has with the Smiths but having looked at their website there is so much more to this place. It is still a club and welcomes both boys and girls, they open their doors to the public on a Saturday morning and you can take a wander round with one of the volunteers, I had the pleasure of being shown around by a gentleman called Brian, such a nice chap, he showed me round their archives where they keep a record of every child who has been a member over the years, each membership card telling its own unique story. They have a Boxing gym and ring upstairs and a snooker room, it really is a special place. Then of course there is the Smiths room which brings a huge amount of visitors as well. I won't go into much more detail as it might spoil your own visit, but to say it has featured in quite a few tv shows. What an amazing place it is.

This place has more history and memories than I had ever imagined. I was lucky enough to perform here but there are also so many rooms that are rich in tasteful and mesmerising art which is wonderful way to commemorate previous members and additionally fans of The Smiths. There's a real air of tranquility in those rooms.

Went here because of The Smiths and loved it. Shame we couldn't go in that day. Beautiful building.

Had a great visit here today. One of the volunteers, Brian, kindly showed us around the whole club and even printed off copies of membership cards that belonged to my family members. Very memorable visit and will definitely visit again soon! I would recommend to anyone with an interest in local history, Manchester United, and of course The Smiths, to visit here!

We went on a Saturday because they keep records and pictures of camps that happened back in the day and we wanted to see if there were records and pictures of deceased family members. The volunteers couldn't have been more helpful. We came away with copies of records, photos and a postcard of the names on the wall. We also got a tour of the smiths room which is amazing for fans and we got a brew. All free although we did leave a donation. If you have family that went here or if you are a smiths fan you should go.

Dropped by on an impromptu visit and was welcomed inside by a wonderful and passionate volunteer called Amber. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the club, it's part in social history and its famous links to The Smiths. She guided us around the building, including The Smiths room and a room with a memory wall of all the 22000 boys who had (and still are) members of the club, including the Busby babe Eddie Coleman and Graham Nash. This is a hidden gem and well worth a visit.

Came for the Smiths and it ended up to be a great experience. Have to say the owner/concierge is an absolute hero for letting me in to have a quick look in the Smiths room outside opening hours. But I'm not encouraging this ha, please visit during its opening which is weekends after 7:30 pm.

This is a must see for Smith's fans. We are not fans but we really enjoyed the history of the area and the club. We went on a Saturday when they have several tour guides there who were members in their youth. They were so friendly and helpful and interesting.

A special place. My fiancé and I stopped by the lad’s club for the first time in 4 or so years for a photo opportunity. This time, we noticed the door was open and popped our heads in, thinking we would just have a nose at whatever was behind the door. We were met by an elderly gentleman working in the club who, mid lunch, insisted on giving us a tour. It was a really special 45 minutes as he took us through the entire history of the club, his membership of near 80 years, the various events and people who have passed through the club. We came due to The Smiths, as many do, but it was such a heartwarming moment on our Saturday in grey Manchester. Thank you so much, a worthwhile visit to see how a community club was established to bring a better life to so many.

Im a massive smiths fan so this was something to tick off my bucket list. A wonderful iconic building. So much history and the smiths room sent shivers down my spine. Well worth a visit. Thanks to Leslie and Dave for your time and genuine warmth

Had a brilliant morning here recently, given the tour with the very informative and passionate Leslie, such a lovely chap. What he and Amber and the team there have had to do to keep this incredible place open is unbelievable. A credit to their hard work, and a huge benefit to the local kids. A fantastic Place for Animal lovers to visit. First of all the volunteer staff that care for these animals do an amazing job and thats evident from just seeing how happy these animals are. There is a little giftshop that sells lots of great bird related items and a Coffee shop onsite too. Such an amazing expreience to see all these birds of prey up close and to get a feel for nature. I would highly recommend visiting this brillant sight. 5 stars

Brilliant place, lovely staff and great cause... kids loved it and so did we.

A lovely little gem hidden away in Warrington. If you've got a bit of time to kill and like birds of prey it's right up your street The place is clean, tidy and well maintained a great selection of beautiful birds to view and learn about. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and you can tell they have a real passion for what they do. There is also an adorable racoon and ferrets to say hello to as well The site has a cafe and small giftshop. They also offer experience days at a reasonable price. I'd definitely come back for some one on one time with these wonderful animals.

We came to Wild Wings of Prey for an Owl Experience driven by Ian. The experience was so personal and Ian was brilliant at talking through all the owls and teaching me how to handle and fly them. On top of this, all of the other staff were very very friendly and knowledgeable and were happy to spend time talking to us about all the animals. All in all, an amazing experience, and great work these guys do for the birds. We will definitely be coming back !

Lovely family day out. Wide variety of birds of prey to see, including some stunning owls, and huge eagles. The staff were very friendly and provided us with lots of interesting information about the birds. We got to see their eagle Koda up close, which was a fabulous experience. Definitely recommend and we will definitely visit again!

Love this place. All the staff are wonderful volunteers and do an amazing job. The birds are amazing and extremely well looked after. Nice cafe too. Would definitely recommend paying a visit.

I first visited Wild Wings for a bird of prey experience day years ago when they were based in Leigh. I had such a wonderful time, and have been following their work on Facebook ever since. I went to visit them again in the their new premises last weekend in Risley. It's so fantastic to see that after all their hard work and hardship what an amazing space they've built. It was great to see the birds I met all those years ago again (Mumble and Boo) as well as their new additions (Nugget the little owl is a little firecracker!). Everyone who works at Wild Wings is so friendly and will stop what they're doing to come and chat to you about the birds. It's plain to see just how much Ian and Carol care about these beautiful birds and animals. They provide an invaluable service in rescuing and rehabilitating birds for very little in return. They are so passionate about protecting wildlife, it was an absolute joy to see and talk to them again. Keep up the amazing work. We can't wait for our next visit :)

Great place to spend a couple of hours if you're into birds of prey, especially owls (as I am!). Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a pleasant cup of tea and a cake to finish!

Lovely bird rescue center. Plenty of birds to look at, rescued and cared for by the charity. You can see how dedicated the volunteers are, and always approachable for questions. Great cafe and shop. We will definitely be visiting again.

Organised carboot sale here at 8am was queues from 730, Sellers on first due to it being a live airport and security reasons, u get time to set up before sellers allowed on too. Worth it just to watch aircraft.

Barton is a lovely old airfield with some quite notable art deco architecture around the hangers and the control tower (which I understand to be the oldest operational control tower in the country - don't quote me on that though) With a decent cafe and a nice relaxed old-fashioned atmosphere, it's certainly somewhere that would be of interest to any aviation enthusiast, including the rotary wing gang, as there is a heliport at the airfield. As such, you never know what may arrive next, from a DeHaviland Rapide to a military Lynx or some kind of fancy Airwolf looking thing. If you're in the area, pop in!

I had a fantastic experience day here flying a helicopter. The Instructor was really good, funny and knowledgeable which helped ease and anxiousness. Had to drop it 1 start tho because the route into the car park is riddled with potholes. Drive round extra slowly to avoid damage. Some holes are filled with water so you can't see how deep they are.

We went on a relaxed Sunday and we got to see a lot of cool vintage cars.We also saw helicopter landing .Brilliant place to get interested in aerospace.You have flight simulation courses also available but need a booking.its lovely place to visit with your kids.

I attended a KTM demo day here (12 June 2022). The lady on car park duty was happy and helpful. The cafe was very busy so I decided not to use it.

There are many schools here. Including flight simulators and actual small planes and helicopters flights 🚁 Staffs are very knowledgeable and professional.

First time visiting this place, sadly all we saw was the police helicopter take off and return which was a bit of a disappointment but that couldn’t be helped, we still enjoyed it it has a lovely old fashioned feel to the place. There is a restaurant on site which I believe is independent of the airport which was nice.Great place to take children or if you have an interest in aviation.

What a great little airport. If you like to watch small planes and helicopters then this is the place to come. The parking is free and they have a lovely cafe /bar to eat and drink, with outside seating to watch the aircraft. Throughout the year they hold various different events, I'm going to join the car boot sale for the first time this year, music festivals, fairground etc. They regularly refuel military helicopters, such as the chinook and merlin, quite the spectacle. Well worth a visit, especially during the sunnier months.

Lovely little airport. Cafe is great and even sells alcohol and decent food. Plenty to see/ lots going on and is historic! Really relaxed feel about the place. Some great flight simulations on site but you need to book. Great afternoon out.

great place to look at small planes and the ocasional helocopter. theres plenty of planes taking off and landing on good days. the flight sim is also great and the watch tower has great views over the whole runway.

Good time, family place, food to buy, or picnicking. Great day out, get some flying lessons.

Good Flying Facilities For Private Pilots, Enjoy a drink or something to eat at the Sopwith Bar and Grill/ Veterans Bar inside or out. A good day out for families with an interest in Flying or not. Motorbike night Mondays with Car meets and Car Boot sales at other times.

One of the best parks in Salford, Manchester. its vibrant and you can take a walk in the Morning or late afternoon. You can bring your pets or kids and sit on the park benches. During sunny winter days you can see Squirrels and different birds all around the park. During late evening you can enjoy the silence and get lost in your thoughts. Best place to be all by yourself

Massive park with a couple of basketball and lawn tennis courts each. The children's play area has 2 sections, one for younger and older children.

Waw, this place is breathtaking 😍 everything is beautiful. Trees, birds and everything. You can take your kids to play, there is a kids area full of games. You can take your dog for a walk. You can go for running or walking Just enjoy the nature ❤️

Lovely park and grounds. Deceptively nice function room on site. Parking around the venue is available. I attended a funeral here. It was catered for by the venue. Finger food was good and to an excellent standard.

One of my favourite parks in Manchester. Nice to have long walks around. The play area is great. There are loads of options for the kids. My daughters love the sandpit and multiple swings and slides. It would be great if they could add public restrooms for when the children need the toilet though as there’s nowhere to go nearby.

I use the Dog walking area in the middle, the old golf course, great place to let your dogs run off lead

Buile Hill Park is a big park in Salford. It is closed to the A6 and M602 and provided several free paring spaces. There is a hall available to hire for events (not free). Tennis courts and children playgrounds are also available. Dogs are welcome as well. You will be able to watch brilliant fireworks in Bonfire Night.

Decades of Salford Council negligence and the rise of home deliveries has meant this rich man's garden (which at least used to have a mining museum with a mock mineshaft) is now a shadowy relic of its once grand former self. Countless (198) trees, plenty of green grass, you are pretty much guaranteed solitude here because it's such a cultural and horticultural sick bin, nobody who isn't a dog wants to come near. There are of course no toilets in the park, so feel free to urinate and defecate behind the bushes. That's if you need to, the nearest shop is half a mile away, so you're more likely to starve than you are to need a poop. God bless parks though, even this one.

Great park for dog walking. So many dogs and huge open areas. Some enclosed to let them run free. Great group of people at the “golf park”. Got some lovely pictures from there. And great selection of sticks.

Lovely park in Salford. Can see the sunset nicely and have great long walks. Nice playing courts for basketball. Only downside is there are no lights for when it turns dark especially for winter times

Well maintained walking paths and vibrant autumn trees.

Another bit of awesome engineering. Close by is the swing road bridge. Both only operate maybe 3 or 4 times a week. Parking available on old Barton Road or Chapel Place.

What an awesome piece of industrial heritage. Was lucky when I was there the road bridge got swung open.

Great spot for a brew and a breather before pressing on. Pump house in front of you, swing aqueduct to the left and Barton Road Swing Bridge to the right. A hell of a lot of quality engineering within 200 metres. Lovely spot

Was doing some work near here recently, & spent a bit of time having a good look at it. It's a great piece of engineering, and is an interesting aqueduct. Had a look on the ship tracker (phone) to see if any ships were passing through as would love to see it in action, but no joy. Maybe next time.

Great to stop for a minute as you passing by. With little pocket park between aqueduct and bridge. Both bridges swings as well.

Wonderful Victorian engineering. Sadly looks in need of paint and landscape around is neglected. This is a major heritage site and deserves better. Notwithstanding that, it was great to visit and photograph a narrow boat crossing over the Shil Canal on the Bridgewater canal.

Lovely park. Woodland trail with fairyland carvings, beautiful lake, very dog friendly. Playground suitable for all ages. Lovely dog friendly cafe, lots of choice including many vegan options.

Nice walk around the lake, plenty of swans ducks and other water birds to see on the water. You can wander on several paths ranging from flat to steep paths.

Gorgeous place. Lots of great walks and if you get here early enough you'll get a stunning sunrise across the lake. Dropped one star as they seem to have a litter problem but If this changes. 5 stars

Nice place for dog walking with good children's play equipment and cafe. Parking appears to be free and quite plentiful on weekdays. The paths are good, although the large one to towards Hulme road and back to Clifton road is a little difficult to navigate in parts and goes through private land. That said, the vast majority is lovely. The people around seem cheerful and friendly. There are currently graffalo sculptures. There are plenty of benches and the odd dog bin.

Beautiful nature walk & kids sculpture trail, stunning lake views, picnic spots, kids park, on site cafe at reasonable prices, on-site parking that does get full quickly on busy days. Just a really nice place to visit with or without children 🙌

I love this park. A great play area for the kids with a slide, monkey bars, climbing frame, multiple varieties of swings and roundabouts and an obstacle course. Also has myriad pathways to explore the surrounding woodland and lake. Plus there are archaeological remains and sculptures that illustrate the area's mining history

A nice place for people to spend their leisure time and walk the dog there. A natural environment that allows us to take a fresh breath and refresh our mind. Love the animals that i encounter during the walk.

A lovely walk with plenty to see and full of wild life. It has a big play area for kids and nice little cafe on site. While walking around the lake which is stunning there are also a lot of wood carvings.

This reservoir offers a pleasant walking experience, with a circular path that's suitable for pushchairs, making it family-friendly. However, it's important to note that the area can become quite crowded, especially during peak times, and finding parking can be challenging, often turning into a bit of a nightmare.

Lovely park, paths and a fairy tale walk for the kids. The car park is also open until really late, possibly even through the night. The only downside is no public toilets once the cafe closes for the day.

It a little known hidden gem 💎, plenty of parking, wooded and open fields or walk round the lake. Dog friendly and there is also a dog friendly cafe.

Great space for a walk around the lake. Dog friendly and a lovely, well looked after park for the children. Small cafe that opens at 10.

Great place! Lovely for a family walk and so much to discover and explore. My 9 year old loved the playground and we liked learning about the old coal mine when we adventured into the woods. Good for younger ones too as there is a sculpture trail to follow around the water. Nice little cafe and toilets available in the carpark.
