This place is amazing. The views are incredible. We took the cable car up to the top. The cable car does sway, but still a cool experience. From there we climb to the summit. It’s climb as your own risk, but worth it.

Incredible. Easily the highlight of our trip. What a bunch of breath taking views. We took the cable car up and down from the summit. It is definitely worth the trip to go up. It was very reasonably priced for what you got. Just make sure (they tell you at least 5 times) to switch trains on the way up.

Loved the experience! I went to Zugspitze to enjoy the picturesque view over mountains, and it was one of the most memorable trips. I took the cable car to go up, and then used another cable car to go down to ski slopes (you can use this one unlimited if you buy the standard adult ticket). Breathtaking views, few nice cafes on the top to go and enjoy a light snack/ meal or a coffee. Would really recommend, even if you aren’t a skier!

Great experience and a must do even if you're not in the area. We went on a Tuesday right after Easter and it's was pretty empty as the temperature wasn't the best. We tried going the day before and it was PACKED. We would've had to park a town over and take a train so we decided to postpone to the next day. The attendant at the entrance was kind enough to switch our tickets as we were the only ones there. What an experience honestly. We were alone with the operator in the cabin and it was pretty nerve-wracking with the wind howling and the cabin swaying side to side. At the top it felt surreal, like on a different planet. My wife stayed inside as she was a bit scared. There's also a restaurant and a museum up there on how they constructed the whole thing which is pretty nice. Overall 100% worth it. Even my wife that was scared of heights and reluctant on going up loved it. The both of us will remember that that experience for a long time.

A beautiful view and highly recommend to visit the highest place in Germany 🇩🇪. Parking was easy and plenty, the ride up in the cable car was beautiful and the view at the top is a must see. Only thing I wish was different is that they would have student discounts, which they did not.

Nice view and the lift to it is huge. I went up with the lift and went back by train to have both experience. The train wouldn’t be my choice again since it goes under the mountain for the majority of the time. But was interesting. On weekends gets very busy with 2 hours waiting time.

I expected the great views but I was surprised by how cool the restaurant was. We enjoyed just hanging out for hours and eating and walking around soaking it all in.

The highest peak in German alps. Going there can be for more than just skiing. Take the cable car from Eibsee to enjoy the view of the alps and sit in the restaurant on top. You may also choose to walk around and (in winter) take a drink at the igloo bar and hotel. Definitely recommended in winter.

Such an amazing experience to be at the summit. The views are incredible and it is rather cold so be sure to bring a jacket. The cable car ride up was fun. The little chapel - Maria Heimsuchung at the top was impressive. The Gletschergarten restaurant is really good.

A must! It's quite expensive (136 euros for 2 persons, no discount with the tourist or visitors card they give you at the hotel), but we think it's totally worth it. The views are magnificent, there are excellent infrastructures (cafés, restrooms, souvenir shops) and you can "hop" on Austria for a little bit. We brought a light jacket, but it was not cold (12°C, but with the sun and all the people, it seemed warmer). It's beautiful, and you can easily spend 2h here or even longer if you intend to climb to the summit or hike around the viewing platform. Highly recommended! 👌👌👌

Gorgeous view at the top. Go first thing in the morning to avoid the masses and traffic. The ride up was easy and quick. Enjoyed a nice cup of coffee at the top. It was a tad pricey but hey it's a tourist destination.

Was incredibly fun. Last lift at 4:15 pm and there are lifts every 10-15 mins or so. It gets very windy but it has an incredible view

Take the chance to visit Germany’s last glacier. We took the gondola up and the train down. The restaurant offers nice food and drinks and you even have the chance to use sledges for free.

Nice place to experience snow in summer. There are 3 different round trips which take you to 3 different places. The star of the place is the summit. From the starting point, get down at eibsee and take a rope car. It's the short and scenic route. Here restaurants are available. You can have nice food with scenic views. Then next to the valley where you can play in snow. Slides and snow mobiles are available for rental. Suggest not to take train from eibsee to aummit.

Make sure u go on a day with nice weather or u will see absolutely nothing up there lol The ticket is £62 pp but includes all kind of transportation so make sure to try them all!

Very interesting place to visit in the Bavarian Alps. Visited in the end of March, still quite cold and abundant snow. I would suggest taking the cog wheel train up, then the cable car back to Garmisch. Check the weather forecasts/cameras for best views and dress accordingly. Have a bier and a strudel at 10,000 feet!

Great place to visit, highest peak in Germany at 2962m with amazing views from the top. The cable car ride up to the top was pretty amazing itself (can't be scared of heights). Has a restaurant at the top to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the views.

Luckily it was snowing and an amazing experience, loved it and the ticket price for an adult for one day for the highest peak cost around 62 euros

Top of Germany. What a lovely view from top. The whole experience to visit this place is awesome. The journey by train and cable car is one of the best. Best organisation of the whole experience by Zugspitzbahn. There is a small museum at the top about how this whole thing was built. Also they have kept all the old things in the museum and it’s free to visit. They explain the mechanism of the cogwheel train.

Very nice place to hike. The level for this hike would be medium, depending upon when you go to the hike. The scenery along the way is really beautiful, and it is worth the effort.

This is well worth a visit. It's absolutely stunning, an amazing sight to see and walk through. We walked up to the restaurant at the top before making our way back down. Fantastic place with superb views

Really special and wonderful place to enjoy a day. We hike passed the gorge and up a pub the long way (2 hours walk up and down). Reasonable fitness needed. The pub is closed every Thursday. When we go there, the pub is closed. The tables can be used and you can buy beer from a machine. The gorge itself is nice but the hike up the long way is nice walk too. We saw salamanders and woodpeckers and different birds, farm animals sheep and a friendly cat too. The way down quick is by the side of the pub (30 minutes). Bring a raincoat and wear hiking shoes.

It was a wintry cold day and we braved the outdoors. It was a nice memory, although hard with jet lag. Got some good shots. Because some of the hiking paths were icy, we had to walk on the main road which of course took away from the charming allure. So beware in bad conditions.

A walk through the cave is indeed beautiful! High hills and the turquoise water from the water falling from the mountains & running like a river is Amazing! Safe to walk along with children though narrow space well protected! If you have the Zugspitze Ticket, the entry is free.

The gorge was breathtaking and well worth the 6 euro. When we visited in August, half of the gorge was shut down and there was two-way traffic. This led to a lot of congestion and was very stressful with a toddler. We were not aware of how tight some of the tunnels were, so we brought a child backpack carrier which we did not use because our son would hit his head on the ceiling. We saw several families with small children in the same boat as us. If we could have done the whole trail and not have to double back, we would have enjoyed the experience a lot more. I understand these were unique times, it just wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been. It was still very pretty and I wouldn't mind coming back when our kids are a little older. For those who are new to the area, you can park in the Olympic parking lot for 2.5 Euro and it is a short walk to the trail head from there.

It's an impressive experience. The path to the entrance is very wide and easy to walk on. In the gorge, however, it is narrow to the rocks, partly through the tunnels. It's also good to have a flashlight, because it's really dark in some parts of the tunnel. A jacket with a hood is also useful, as the water drips heavily from above in some places. We were there on a public holiday with nice weather around noon. That was probably a mistake as it was very crowded. In narrower places you sometimes had to wait until "oncoming traffic" had passed... I also thought it was stupid that you were allowed to go there with the dogs. I don't think it's a nice experience for the dogs: loud, cramped and lots of strange legs that you have to avoid. Next time I'll go there earlier as it's probably a lot quieter.

Unbelievable place... It is definitely a must visit place and its worth every penny. You won't regret going here. Just make sure you exit from the same gate you came from if you don't have time or don't want to walk. Cuz if you exit from the other end, you'll have to hike all the way around the gorge. But if you can I would definitely recommend you to take that route, it is BEAUTIFUL

One of nature's wonders. Awesome place to visit. Regimens getting there early as parking is atrocious. Make sure you have balance and are a little fit. The walk is long and can get strenuous at times. However, the views are spectacular.

Let me just say be prepared for the hike OUT. The hike in and through was amazing. The walk out was the hardest part, and while it isn't difficult, it isn't a short hike. The gorge itself was great and beautiful. Go early and beat the rush, which is what we did, and even then, we had people who wanted to rush through and push you through it. Later, the number of people showing up to enter was crazy and i couldn't imagine trying to even take pictures. We enjoyed the early quiet and lack of people and were able to enjoy a leisurely walk, just letting the fast folks pass us. Take a rain coat, water and snack and you'll have an amazing time.

The place is very attractive. After visiting the cave, you can continue your hike to the forest and return to the starting point. Alternatively, you can return to the cave. If you choose to hike through the forest, make sure to bring some water as it is a steep path. Overall, it was a really enjoyable hike.

Formed by the Partnach River, the gorge features striking rock formations and picturesque waterfalls. The maintained trails and informational signs ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for visitors of all levels of expertise. We went on a hot weekday and it was rather busy, with lots of fellow tourists. The walk up from the parking at the Ski Jump centre took about 20 minutes, but was easy. We booked our tickets in advance, but you could buy them there. There are some places to get some food and drink at the start of the gorge walk, we had some lovely chips and a beer! The walk itself is exciting, but as it was busy there was a lot of stop-and-start waiting for people to pass (the raised pathway cut in to the cliff is narrow) but the views and atmosphere made up for it. Stout shoes and a slight head for heights is recommended, but we saw folks of all ages and abilities managing just fine.

I will try to talk about my experience briefly and benefit from this place, one of the most beautiful places that you can visit, beautiful natural beauty, fun and exciting to explore, ski, climb, photograph and relax. Amazing place. On a busy day, finding parking is a bit hard and one has to walk a bit to get the beautiful views of the Gorge, but definitely worthwhile. Nature at one of it's best. It's enjoyable only in the right season - when there is good water flow.

Great experience! Tickets are around 7 euros for adults and 3.50 for kids. Rain coat is a must have, good to have snacks on the go! It does get a bit dark after sunset.

Very interesting place. But risk to go given the wet floor and its proximity to the water falls. Not good for claustrophobics since you will be in dark and short tunnels. Dogs are welcome but there is a 2 euros fee.

we didn't need raincoats or lanterns, the tunnels were lit and at 20° quite dry, two or three drops on the jacket is no problem. It's so beautiful that you don't care if you get wet. The circular route is not easy at all, the climbing is big and quite steep, don't eat your sandwiches before it like we did😆. Otherwise, the view from the top is worth the effort, but some level of fitness is definitely required.

Beautiful place. Might be slippery in the rainy season. At least keep 2 hours for the trip. You are allowed to go to the end and have to come back the same route (can no longer exit from the other end). I saw some people taking their pets. Some were afraid of heights so their owner had a difficult time. And some dogs were trekking like a pro.

Awesome place. The cave gives you a thrilled feeling. After you exit it, there are two options: First option is to take the cave back. Next option is a bit tricky and I felt that the directions were not much clear. In this option you have to hike the mountain and then descend. The trail to go up is not well maintained and at some places it was very slippery. On top there is one small restaurant. Going down is via a well built road, but it is very steep. We could not control our legs at some descends and had to run :)

Such a beautiful place to visit... If this is on your list and you have the time you must absolutely do it. There is a 30 minute walk from the parking lot to the entrance of the gorge. However we had rented e bikes and were able to take them all the way to the entrance and there is a bike lock rack Right next to where we purchase tickets. For 7.50 euros this was an unbelievable walk Just so breathtakingly beautiful. I love the sound of the water I love seeing the sky through the crack. After we got to the end there was different trails to take but we didn't know how to read the trail map in German so we just turned around and went back the way we came to the main entrance to our bikes. I would have loved to have done other walks up and over the gorge as well if there was a proper map provided or signs. Also a bit confusing have to you purchase tickets you have to scan the barcode to go through a gate So hold on to them, Because if you go through the gate at the end and decide to turn around you will need to reschend the tickets to get back in the pathway to the main entrance.

Great ski resort. Pretty easy to navigate. Pistes for all types of abilities. Lift ticket was reasonably priced too. Parking was also reasonably priced

Absolutely amazing. Phenomenal runs and great views. When it comes to the alps Garmisch is on the easier end. The runs are long, wind through the mountain, and very enjoyable. Highly recommend if looking for beginners and experienced skiers/boarders that want more than downhill slopes.

Expensive to what it offers compared to similar ski destinations. For those looking to learning how to ski do not buy the entrance ticket. Once you buy the classes at the store located by the lift you get access to the ski main lift and main area. But no access to the other lifts on top of the mountain.

Decent choice of a ski resort but could be better organized and equipped. The parking in front of the resort is quite limited and gets full early. The pricing should be more reasonable for a ski resort of this size and equipment.

We had a blast skiing yesterday. The snow wasn't the best but still unbelievable views and lots of piste.

Good fun skiing in a small area compared with the big French and Italian resorts but scenery is stunning in places especially the red run 15/16 from the summit when the weather cleared up. Enjoy!

One of the best places to be for snow lovers. Amazing view of Completely snow-packed Mountains. The viewpoint platform which is made in X shape is completely stunning. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing for sunrises. You need to plan 3 hours of ascent (2 if your trained) and then can watch the sun rise. Definitely worth it. Can be quiet packed during weekends, keep that in mind when planning your trip.

Was kinda amazed by how this thing got built up in the first place. Go there for a fun and shaky experience. Plenty of easy hike routes available starting from the top. Get a Garmisch Classic Ticket, take the Alpspitzbahn to the top first and hike down via a partial route that suits your plan. The Kreuzeckbahn is the last part of the cable car that can take you down.

The AlpspiX viewing platform gives visitors an incredible panoramic view from an eagle’s perspective so to speak – the steel platform does sit over a thousand-metre drop. I took a cable car to Kreuzeckbahn and hiked all the way to Hochalmbahn and reached Alpspitzbahn. The view is absolutely stunning!!

After an exciting ride up the cable car we enjoyed spectacular views not only out over the town and valley but as far as Amersee. We enjoyed a bit coffee in the cafe too

The Alpspix offers a unique experience to be apart of nature and celebrate the views of the surrounding area. I’d highly recommend it if the visibility is decent. We took the Kreuzeckbahn up, then hiked about 30 minutes to Hochalm and because it was a little warm for us we decided to ride the Hochalmbahn vs hiking the rest of the way to the Alpspix. Absolutely stunning views the whole way up and down. Restaurants at the stops of the bahns.

The ride was good and is recommended if you want to do the Alpspitze ferrata and avoid hiking till the ferrata start, the ride is approximately 9 minutes and one way is 20 euros and both ways is 34 euros. Happy Hiking

I was amazed by the structure and if you go up from the back you got a nice view over Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

They were doing work on the stadium so we couldn't go in. But it was still really neat to check out. The area is very pretty and it's reasonable to park, €2.50 for the full day. Parking fills quick because of the Partnach Gorge.

The Große Olympiaschanze aka The Great Olympic Hill; is a ski jumping hill located on the Gudiberg, south of the district of Partenkirchen of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, it was home to the 1936 Winter Olympics in Germany. It is also a great place to park to walk to Pantach Gorge.

Can't compare to Oberstdorf ski jumping hills. You cant see much standing in the main arena.Better to watch in TV.

There are very good views and scenery. But the road up the mountain will become muddy and slippery after the snow melts, so be careful

A beautiful mountain that offers an almost 360 view of the area. The cable cart is cheap and offers a great experience to the top of the mountain. The mountain still had some ice on it which created some mud in certain areas so clean shoes are will definitely get dirty. I highly recommend this.

The climax is amazing, but it's a lot of work to get there. Fun for all the family. I came here constantly in my youth... good times. It's maybe a touch inconvenient at times, but I always found a way.

Tempting to post puns here, as an Englishman, but I won’t jerk you around. The cable cars cost €23 return and the restaurant at the top was really good value for the location. You’ll also see views across Garmisch and to Zugspitze, so it’s a cheaper alternative to the Eibsee cable cars.

Ok so 90% of us men are childish so I’ve decided to add photos rather than any rude or crude comment. This place is beautiful and just over an hours drive from where our hotel is in Fussen. It’s well worth the drive and at just over £40 (after conversion at English bank) to go up and down on the cable car it’s great value. The views and walks from the top are wonderful, lots of benches and seating to relax and take it all in. A couple of nice places to eat and drink on the top, absolutely gorgeous and worth the time and money. And if you’ve taken the kids and they’re bored and have been good, then take them to the Alpine Coaster 20 minutes away (Google map it) then view it on YouTube, it’s a brilliant way to end the day Me and the wife are in our mid fifties and did it, even though she had her eyes shut all the way, it’s brilliant, what a day!!

After three hours I had made it, best experience to date, my hand was aching and my lungs among other things nearly exploded when I (came down I passed out) my mother found me some hours later and was disgusted at the sight

Me and my friends loved the hike, took almost 3 hours up there but the view was just amazing and breathtaking. Will visit this place again and it only takes 1 hour from Munich central station to Garmisch Patenkirchen station.

One fine morning I decided to go to the mountains alone, even though this was not the first time I did so, but on this much snow, it was a bit not so easy decision. The plan was to cover two peaks, one of which very famous from Garmisch called 'Wank' (I am not sure yet why the name is given so). Another was Hoher Fricken. Wank was easy, and the good thing is even though it is a famous Peak, there was almost no one other than me. But Hoher Fricken was tough. From Wank to Hoher Fricken, there was no one. From Wank the 3d view of Zugspitze, Alpspitze and even toward Farchant is really awesome. In winter the hut, Wankhaus is not open, however, the self service hut just adjacent to the Wankhaus is open and one can take rest there. They also keep warm blanket, table, chair etc.

One of the best places to be for snow lovers. Amazing view of Completely snow-packed Mountains. The viewpoint platform which is made in X shape is completely stunning. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing for sunrises. You need to plan 3 hours of ascent (2 if your trained) and then can watch the sun rise. Definitely worth it. Can be quiet packed during weekends, keep that in mind when planning your trip.

Was kinda amazed by how this thing got built up in the first place. Go there for a fun and shaky experience. Plenty of easy hike routes available starting from the top. Get a Garmisch Classic Ticket, take the Alpspitzbahn to the top first and hike down via a partial route that suits your plan. The Kreuzeckbahn is the last part of the cable car that can take you down.

The AlpspiX viewing platform gives visitors an incredible panoramic view from an eagle’s perspective so to speak – the steel platform does sit over a thousand-metre drop. I took a cable car to Kreuzeckbahn and hiked all the way to Hochalmbahn and reached Alpspitzbahn. The view is absolutely stunning!!

After an exciting ride up the cable car we enjoyed spectacular views not only out over the town and valley but as far as Amersee. We enjoyed a bit coffee in the cafe too

The Alpspix offers a unique experience to be apart of nature and celebrate the views of the surrounding area. I’d highly recommend it if the visibility is decent. We took the Kreuzeckbahn up, then hiked about 30 minutes to Hochalm and because it was a little warm for us we decided to ride the Hochalmbahn vs hiking the rest of the way to the Alpspix. Absolutely stunning views the whole way up and down. Restaurants at the stops of the bahns.

The ride was good and is recommended if you want to do the Alpspitze ferrata and avoid hiking till the ferrata start, the ride is approximately 9 minutes and one way is 20 euros and both ways is 34 euros. Happy Hiking

I was amazed by the structure and if you go up from the back you got a nice view over Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

They were doing work on the stadium so we couldn't go in. But it was still really neat to check out. The area is very pretty and it's reasonable to park, €2.50 for the full day. Parking fills quick because of the Partnach Gorge.

This museum have a lot different hauses amd places, where shown how people use to leave early. This museum is also recommende to visit with children., because it have also playground and a lot of activities for children. Even dogs are allowed. They also have some big restorant and smaller restaurant, where can buy some local food, most small meals I would say Bavarian village specialty, which were very delicious.

Very nice lake with rather natural / wild lakeside. It's allowed to swim and you'll find small meadows here and there all around the place. Nice view towards the Alps with some restaurants / beer gardens close to the towns. Perfect trip for kids or just to relax and take a stroll.

Staffelsee have very beautiful and impressive entrance. It has green and comfortable sitting area. May be visited to spend weekend.

We hiked from the Elmau carpark, only about 2.5 hrs up at a pretty fast pace. Mostly gentle incline but pretty long. Loved the scenery on the way up. If going into the king's lodge, ask for the written guide in English (though it is pretty dry to read). Also just five mins walking up the hill ( through a little gate behind the lodge) is a fantastic viewpoint (aussichtpunkt think).. with a pergola and views towards the highest peak in Germany. Alpine garden closed for the season when we were there (mid Sept)

Die Hütte oben hat eine prima Bewirtung zu fairen Preisen.

I stopped here on the way to Linderhof from Munich and this ruine became the highlight of my day! The hike requires some stamina, but is not horribly difficult. I highly recommend continuing down to the Wasserfall Burgruine Werdenfels. The stairs down were a bit treacherous after a heavy rain yesterday, so proceed with caution.

Beautiful and nice castle ruins in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. I came to the trail head by public bus, then hiked for 30 minutes or so to the castle ruins. The ruins are wonderful and this spot is calm and peaceful. It is perfect for hikers. The views from the top is awesome. I came on a sunny day in Autumn, the scenery is amazing. Recommended to nature lovers.

The ruins are beautifully placed on the mountain giving a perfect view of the valley. From the parking lot at Pfleger See (Berggasthof Pflegersee) you can walk to the ruins through the forest in 20-30 minutes. It’s an easy walk – just up and down some small hills. On the way you can find different information boards telling about the castles history (I think the first board is right at Pfleger See). After the tour you can take a swim in Pfleger See and eat at the Berggasthof. Menu, quality and prices are medium but fair.

I'd bet many Americans don't get to this out-of-the-way beautiful yet moving place. It was memorable and moving to my wife and I. We discovered this place on our hike, not realising it was only minutes from our hotel. It's both a beautiful and moving church which acts as a memorial for the wars. It's a must-visit and I got more from this than most "tourist war memorials".
