A path with very nice views but physically demanding. Many and very steep stairs and sometimes slippery. I would recommend this sentiero only to people that are used to challenging walks and wear good shoes. It‘ quite exposed to sun, so you might want to take enough to drink with you. Path gets quite crowded from april on!

This trail connects the villages of Monterosso al Mare and Vernazza. It is approximately 3.5 km long and the hike is considered moderately challenging due to its steep sections and uneven terrain. It typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete, depending on your pace and the number of stops you make along the way. The view of Vernazza from this trail is one of the highlights of the hike. As you approach Vernazza from the trail, you will be treated to an incredible panoramic view of the village nestled along the coastline. Vernazza is known for its colorful houses that cascade down the hillside toward the sea. Very crowded in off-season, it costs 7.5 euro/ person. It is a 3,5km km waiting line from Monterosso to Vernaza both ways. You get a nice view at the end but that you can get also if you go by train. Can't imagine how much worse it is in full season.

They said it’s closed…it’s not. Beautiful hike. I recommend going from Monterosso to Vernazza. You get the staircases out of the way and enjoy a nice view on the way down to Vernazza. 1.5 hours total and we went slow. Bring water.

A very picturesque path, along gardens with crops, vineyards, old gardens. Definitely less demanding than the route from Riomaggiore to Manarola, more flat sections but also has steep climbs, especially in the initial sections. walking time about 1.5 hours. a lot of stairs to overcome, the entrance from the Vernazza side seems easier but still requires good shoes and a bit of good shape. the route is paid, in my opinion it is worth spending the money, but if someone counts on a walk by the sea and still spectacular views - they will be disappointed. I was captivated by the picturesqueness of the route, vineyards, trees, orchards and the remains of old terraces where the inhabitants cultivated plants. But it is definitely not a walk by the sea

A great hike - even with a toddler. We have a ~1 year old who came on the hike with us in a carrier (back/front reversible), not a shoulder backpack carrier. Suggest a back-carry rather than a front carry. We caught the train from Riomaggiore to Monterosso and then started our hike which took us about 1hr 45 min - noting we were reasonably quick even with the baby. Suggest this could take 2+ hrs for others. The trail is narrow at some points which required waiting as was too dangerous to go 2 at a time with the baby. Despite this people were very accommodating to allow us to pass on the inside. Overall a great hike with some lovely views.

The path has steeper parts as you start climbing, but then it is more accessible. Can be done on rainy weather as well. Around 1.5 hours from train station to train station, but with stops for photos it will be more. Extremely beautiful!

Highly recommend this hike trail! We did it with our two girls ages 5 & 6. The views were awesome! I can see experienced hikers taking over an hour to complete but with two little people it took us almost 2.5 hrs. Recommend to pack plenty of water, good shoes (we used our running shoes), snacks and charged phone for pics. Happy hiking!

This hike offers the best views of vernazza as you leave the town, and some wonderful ocean vistas but be warned this hike is very steep going up and is also very steep on the other end approaching Monterosso. There is ample sun and it with its difficulty, you will need to bring water and wear shoes for hiking. The cinque terre hiking card is also checked at the trail and is needed (7.50 for a day pass of hiking, get it at the vernazza train station). There is some maintenance that needs to be done so some areas are a bit treacherous. Very busy trail with traffic going both ways so be ready for that. Decently fit folk can complete this section in under 90min with some photo stops.

Would much recommend the walk from Monterosso to Vernazza rather than the other way around. Reason is that on the trail; the scenic beauty of Vernazza is captured from the vantage point of the trail. And Monterosso is difficult to see from the trail as it is blocked by the hills, or by the time you near Monterosso you are already too low. Recommend starting your day early to catch the sunrise. Just remember to pay the trail fee! Trail difficulty is not that hard. Alot of up-hill. Wear proper shoes and bring water.

My friends and I did this trail back in the beginning of March 2023. we had perfect weather, sunny, not hot, not cold. The first part of the trail (starting from Monterosso) was quite a climb and it could get very narrow and difficult. The other half was much easier. We weren‘t really prepared for this type of hike, but I would suggest simply comfortable sneakers, plenty of water and maybe a sandwich with you. The views are truly breathtaking. As girls who aren‘t use to this type of activities it was doable and we had a great time. Also even though it was sunny, you aren‘t going to be in the sun the whole time. You‘re passing through woods, so it can get very fresh as well. The path was evidently clean in our case and not too many tourists at the time. From what I know this path is actually not free to explore, but the day we went it was „off season“ so it was free. Amazing experience.

Great hike between Monterosso to Vernazza, the views are great throughout the whole hiking trail and it seems to be quite popular of a hiking path as you will meet many people along the way. The view of Monterosso is amazing, also when you get closer to Vernazza as it opens into the beach bay and you can get a great picture with the colourful buildings in the cove. We met a very cute Samoyed dog ready to go on a little hike along the way too!

This is a pretty nice trail, if you are a bit trained it's pretty ok. There are several factors to keep in mind though, the heat from spring to autumn,is pretty steep while some paths are very narrow, maybe too narrow considering traffic in 2 directions which blocks you in case of larger groups. Indications are kind of ok but could be better. Also keep in mind you already need to walk up a bit before you start the real trail, so it's longer then you may think. I do agree with some of the comments that since they ask money, one could expect better maintenance, higher safety measures and indicate even more about making sure people are well equipped before they start since it's not easy to get help in case you would require. You may find 1 or 2 people selling some lemon drinks on the way but you better make sure you are least have a big bottle per person with you on the trip, especially for the very warm days and make sure you have sun protection as well, enjoy. A nice and well deserved swim will await you!

Amazing hike! Make sure you bring plenty of water and you MUST wear closed-toe-shoes. Also, they will check your ticket before letting you go through. The views are incredible and you'll be able to see both parts of Monterroso for a while as you ascend. Then, you'll start descending and see Vernazza. Stunning village! It's only shaded like 5% of the time, even in the afternoon so be prepared to sweat bullets.

This is an amazing experience for all of those visiting the Cinque Terre that can do it. I highly recommend this trail at least once. It offers great views, and while it is challenging, it is well worth it in the end. On the trail, it is important to take your time, as some steps and parts of the trail are more dangerous, but if you pay attention, there will be no problem. Overall, it took about 2 hours to reach Monterosso from Vernazza, with small breaks along the way and going at a good pace.

The hike has amazing views. In the summer try to catch train from north/west that arrives at 7:30am at Monterosso so you can do most of your hike in the shade. Steps up are similar, in my opinion, from Monterosso vs from Verazza. Either way, having good grip sole shoes is helpful though not necessary in the dry season. Many people wore regular sneakers and did fine. 1.5hr is about average for the amount of time to hike through 1 way, though if you don't stop for photos or rest, you can easily do it in under an hour. But if you've come all the way to visit, why rush it. Caveat, the towns get very crowded as the day goes on. We arrived Monterosso with empty beaches and by late morning it was crowded beyond belief.

Exceptional food! Octopus appetizer, Mixed fried seafood, Ligurian style rabbit were very good. But what really surprised was a pineapple carpaccio desert. Just wow.

My wife and I had the stuffed mussels to start and they were soooooo good. Definitely a new way for us to enjoy a pretty familiar dish. For the mains, I had a vegetable and cheese cannelloni which was piping hot and delicious. My wife got the seafood risotto and it was filled with mussels, clams, cuttlefish, shrimp, and prawns. Super low key dish and really lets the fish speak for themselves. Thumbs up. We finished off with the tiramisu. Super good. Very nice, warm people with Italian music playing in the background. Great ambiance. Great place! Even in the off-season.

Well, i must admit, it wasn’t exactly what i was looking for. The Pizza tasting boring. I expected better from an Italian restaurant in Italy. But it wasn’t bad. (Bring your own knife with you.)

Very nice sea food restaurant! We tried the stuffed mussels to start and it was interesting! I really enjoyed the black ravioli with sea bass and the sea food risotto! Did I mention the desserts? Try the coffee mousse! Really great experience!!

Bar Bagni ll Gigante Having been on a long day tour found this popular restaurant with a great view or the sea and beach with a large statue of a carved man in the sea cliffs. Food menu was in English and choices were appropriate for size of café and price was ok to. I had a salad and soft drink, the olive oil and balsamic dressing were in sachets. Friendly staff who were attentive too. Toilets clean Would recommend

It's ok, best thing is that water is clean for swimming, fish are everywhere which is nice and related to a nice environment, public shower is available and bars, free public beach near the train station but it's crowded so it's better to go early to get your spot.

Great private beach with a very friendly staff. About 10 euro for a recliner with an umbrella. Bar and wonderful restaurant are there for any drink or food you might want. This beach club is the farthest down and a little less hectic and touristy then some of the others. Total bonus they have a life guard right by the water which is reassuring if Mom and dad want relax on the Beach chairs and kids play. Highly recommend!

We stopped for a light lunch. Chose a table with an umbrella (no extra charge when dining/drinking). Ordered the Gigante salad 8€ & Beppe Focacce 6€ (changed sandwich to make vegetarian). Both tasty. Friendly service. Nice views.

Nice, clean beach with chair/umbrella combos for daily rental for €35. They also have changing rooms, an outdoor shower to rinse off, close by restaurants, and garbage/recycle bins available too.

This is a great place to go extremely relaxing highly recommend, although the waves were too high to really swim, had a great experience, the services are quality and the beach and water are really well kept and clean. The cost to qualify of service is understandable they often got offers going on for all day deals

Magnificent view and awe inspiring beauty.

This is a must-see church in 5 terre. The hike up is easy, but under the hot summer, it can get a little uncomfortable for some. Regardless, the views from the lookout are great; and the church's interior is peaceful and well maintained. There was ambiance music - at a low volume - to add even more atmosphere.

This a a wonderfully peaceful and serene church. When we first visited late one afternoon, there was a recording of Gregorian chants that enhanced the beauty and serenity. We have returned today for Sunday 11:15 Mass and were rewarded by choir warming up before Mass. it’s a bit of a climb as I was huffing and puffing but surely doable if you take your time and a few rest breaks. You will be rewarded for your efforts. Also, there is a Van Dyke painting in the front left chapel. Enjoy!

The walk to the site is arduous especially if you have weak knees. This is truly one of the beautiful church.

Peaceful old convent on the hill overlooking the old town of Monterosso. Zig zagging path is about 10 minutes from the harbor. Very peaceful.

It was fabulous once we got up to the monastery. There were a lot and I mean a lot of steps from the beach. We came down into the village and it was easier. Loved Pastor Ranaldo. We were lucky to have a guided tour with our group.

This convent is situated right on the top of San Cristoforo hill. It was built in 1622 and dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi. It lays in a green, quiet garden that can be reached by climbing brick and stone stairs. Once in the top, an astonishing view of Monterosso al Mare coast can be seen.

The convent is quite a hike up from the old town but worth it. The convent itself is very peaceful and beautiful. And you get an amazing view of the town and the sea from up there.

The church location offers great views, but it is important to walk in and view. The inside is very ornate and gives visitors a great feel for an old monastery in Cinque Terre. Learn about the history of the church and Friar Francis, as it is very interesting.

The St. John the Baptist Church (Chiesa San Giovanni Battista) is extraordinary by its age (almost 800 years) and style - Ligurian Gothic with black and white stripped facade. When you're inside, the black and white stripped columns and squares on the floor turn into an almost hypnotic image. The black and white style was trendy in middle age Genoan architecture and preferred by the very rich nobles. Besides, the black and white combination may well symbolize the duality of life and death or good and evil as in other cultures.

A very small chapel. Worth your 5 to 10 minutes visit to admire it's compact and intimate setting with pleasant light colours. They would appreciate a donation for photography.

A wonderful large church for such a small place. The beautiful marble in-layed floor which took the eye up to to the fine altar was a gem. A good site to appreciate & to cool off from the heat of the day.

Right next to the larger San Giovanni Battista, I found this chapel way more intriguing. It wasn‘t lit when we got there and I loved the gloomy vibes it gave me. The crooked chandeliers, and the electricity cable hanging above the Holy Mary reminded me of 90‘s grunge.

It is a religious building associated with the Confraternita dei Neri. It houses a collection of ancient artworks, including wooden sculptures and a notable painting of the "Crucifixion" by Francesco Semino.

This building was under renovation I think the interior was a bit of a shambles unfortunately & needed some TLC. The ceiling still retained some charm.

Very interesting alternative to a 'normal' church.

Not worth the hype for me, but if you like the typical italian lido, this is it. You have to stand in line and the best chairs are booked in advance, so even if you arrive early you almost never get first line by the water or the rock. Also there is minimal space between the chairs - but then again this goes for almost all the lidos.

We went the evening before to reserve 2 chairs and umbrella for €35. The next morning we were welcomed in right away to our chairs. We spent the day there and ate lunch at the cafe. Delicious food and friendly staff. Will come back again one day!

We took Gnocchi bolognese and a salad. The gnocchi felt like was frozen and made in the microwave - it was still partially frozen! The salad was very basic. The worst dish I’ve ever eaten.

People come here for peace and quiet, to hear the waves crashing. You spoil it not only for your customers but everyone within 2 km with your loud music.

A great way to spend the day in the Cinque Terre! The guys working in the take away snack bar were great and the Aperols were strong! Plus €15 a day for a longer was great value!

Great beach with stunning views of the surrounding Cinque Terre region. A short 2-min walk from the train station makes it ideal for a day trip also with little kids. The price of an umbrella and 2 sunbeds is 35 euro in July 2022. Prices of drinks and snacks are very reasonable. Love the Aperol Spritz!

I visited the area before 11 and althought many sunbed were free, I was told they are booked out and this is only for the guest. And when I asked what do you mean by guest? Like the guest of the bar or resturant? He said no, only the guest of the hotel! while keeping an arrogant attitude the whole conversation! (And I could see obly an small building, that suppose to be the hotel! It's impossible to fill all those sunbeda with only THEIR HOTEL'S GUEST). I found another place and the whole 5 hours that I was there most of the sunbeds were free !!! It SHOULD be mentioned in their website if the area is ONLY FOR GUEST OF THE HOTEL! I think sunbed companies have monopolied the beach. There are in total 4 very small public beach that due to Covid need to be book ahead via the city website, and it should be done at least 40 hours before visiting. Just keep it in mind even if you go there early there is not much possibility to access the sandy beach. However, if you are there and want to swim badly (I needed to swim after 2 hours hike in summer) there is a rocky part within 50 meters distance from the parking area. You can put your stuff there and go swiming. Near the rocks and up to a good distance an average height person can reach the ground.

The focaccia were amazing and drinks were quite good. Right in front of the beach perfect for relaxing.

Food was below average but cheap so that’s fine I guess. Service was not good. We bought beach chairs but then sat at the restaurant to eat (no beach service, just a walk up bar with long line). After waiting for 30 minutes to flag someone down to ask for the check she waits another 30 before telling us we have to go wait in the long line at the walk up bar to pay.

We visited for a wine tasting. It was a good break from the busy areas, very relaxing. Would love to go again!

The service, the food, the staff, the wine- everyone and everything was magnificent. I was very pleased with it all from start to finish. The food was so good we ate here 3 nights in a row and had absolutely no complaints. They have an open air kitchen and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The wait is worth it. The hike up to the restaurant is steep but the scenery is breathtaking once you get to the top. Wear comfy shoes. Overall I was very impressed. Highly recommend.

The location is beautiful.Upon entering the courtyard it's breathtaking.The greeting was friendly.The waitstaff helpful.The wine is great,the pasta dishes perfect.But as a traveler to Europe,mostly to Italy for many years,I feel as though a restaurant should deliver what it advertises.So my complaint is that a photo showing a beautiful whole baked fish,or fillet is what you think you are ordering.Instead on my plate to my bewilderment was a one and a half inch piece of fish overcooked with burnt potato slices and a measly garnish.Yes it does happen but putting the blame on the chefs choice is not what you should expect.

What an amazing Agriturismo! Dinner and wines were spectacular! We dined multiple nights while we were in town and will be returning with our 4 grown kids soon and look forward to eating here again. The atmosphere, the people, the food! Absolutely fabulous!

This place is popular for wine tasting but no one talks about the restaurant. We had the crispy octopus, mixed fried seafood and the spaghetti with anchovies. All of the dishes were great with the octopus being our absolute favourite. It’s not a typical dish but something special that the chef created… the service is good and the setting is amazing! Definitely worth a visit!

We were allowed to stroll in the vineyard, then we tasted 3 wine for 16 Euros in this beautiful scenery. It is a few minutes by foot from the city center, but it felt miles away. Highly recommended for a relaxing few hours, an amazing alternative to the aperitivo in town. Oh, and the wines were amazing.

If you can't stay here, at least come for dinner or wine, best to make reservation. Highlight of trip to Cinque Terre.

Very beautiful and peaceful place. You walk uphill past the vineyards. They make their own wine from the surrounding vineyards, but only have a limited selection. When we ordered wine, they served us some complementary hors d'oeuvres. Tucked away from the busy tourist crowds. Service was excellent. Felt very pampered. Friendly hosts who welcomes you with a smile and spoke good English. Felt like a resort. Tourist from USA.

Wine tasting open to public in a gorgeous setting. Enjoy the family's wine harvest whilst you walk through their grapes and olive farm. Can also farm stay accomodation. A real family run business. Nonna makes the bruschetta out the back.

Located at the foot of the tower the view is breathtaking (although I was there when it was dark). Staff is attentive and rather efficient. Food is above average without being spectacular, a bit pricey. Great cocktails and the cheesecake was probably the most surprising meal of that dinner. Perfect if you want/need to impress. Probably one of the most qualitative restaurant in town.

Honestly unbelievable how in a such a beautiful place can be such horrible tasteless food. For Italy it is a quite pricy place which is okay if it would be really good. We ordered baked seafood starter which was tiny and without any taste, for main we ordered lobster pasta which was okay and squid pasta which was so horrible that I literally returned it fully back. We had an attack of bees at our table and nobody cared. Only after we asked they moved us to another table with a nicer view. When the waiter saw that I returned untouched pasta and asked how was our dinner, I said the food was terrible. She said okay, thank you. And left. We paid 110€ for two and it was such a disappointment. The view is beautiful but I strongly don’t recommend to eat anything there. By the way tables to have aperitif looks much nicer than dinning tables. I would definitely recommend to go there for drinks. View is top. Service is careless. Food is disaster. Very shameful for Italy.

I am giving 2 stars for the beautiful and charming view over the sea of this restaurant. The ambiance is also cozy, with tables under olive trees and calm music However, maybe this can be a good place for cocktails but not for food. At 30 Eur prices for a 2nd piatti, the resto wants to provide smth fancy but the food is nothing but ordinary. The tuna overcooked, the other sea fruit tasteless. Service was very cold, the waiter was at times throwing things on the table All is all, great place it you are mainly interested in the view and you have the right expectations

The view is incredible and that is basically what you are paying for. The restaurant is so freaking cool in general. You are basically in a mini castle / watch tower. It’s straight from game of thrones and the ambiance is straight down that alley. All the dishes were done right, the beef fillet was real nice. The fish was good too. Would go back. Definitely check it out for the views alone. The salt cod was also nice. The vegetables were cooked well.

What a gem! Best culinary experience we had in 5 Terre. We tried the tasting menu. Every plate was delicious and elegantly presented. The view was amazing. The service was attentive. I strongly recommend this restaurant! (Make a reservation if you want to fully enjoy the experience)

Beautiful outlook and setting, servers are friendly and helpful, wine list features a lot of local wines that are moderately priced. The menu is nice but dominated by raw seafood. We went for lunch and dinner and found so much raw seafood a little overwhelming which is saying something as we love raw dishes. Some flavors of the dishes were a little off the mark, great ideas but execution was missing just a little. Definitely worth going and be sure to reserve in advance for dinneror arrive at 12:30pm to get a table at lunch

We came here based on reviews and knew we’d either have an incredible experience or an expensive and average experience. It is very expensive and the prices are definitely accepted because of the view, which is stunning. Make sure you walk around the whole restaurant. Just the raw seafood platter was almost €40 and it was SO small. The menu has a lot of local wines which is lovely. The two pasta dishes we got were underwhelming and felt like there was something missing - a bit of flare etc. Total bill for a shared starter and two pastas, with a bottle of wine was €137. We booked in advance for dinner and were seated on the town side of the restaurant and not the sea side. Perhaps request the sea side if you book in advance. Or just go for a drink and save yourself a lot of money.

The view is amazing, the food is amazing, the people are nice and the place is worth the money. If you love wine, especially rosé, try the “Rosa dei Venti, Sassarini”, you will remember this wine forever! Thank me later! I only gave them 4 because they wouldn’t give us a table with a view like they promised when we booked. The octopus pasta was really nice but it’s so pricey that the value for money is not there. The waiter are on automatic mode like robots. We paid 120€ for 2 people (4€ pp for coperto, a fee that you pay just to seat at the table). I wouldn’t go back or reccomend.

What a treat! Yes - they have a table for one - dropped in on spec - and I could have lingered for hours. Seated with an incredible view and offered a diverse choice of local food. The raw seafood platter was delicious and memorable. Followed with a simple spaghetti with olives, semi roasted cherry tomatoes and fresh anchovies. This was the most incredible meal experience. The view is to die for, the staff were kind and helpful and the meal was literally the best meal we have ever eaten. Do yourself a favor and try the porchetta wrapped rabbit. There are no words for how incredible that was. The pesto gnocchi was also good, but slightly bland, add Parmigiano. The wine was a local white and delicious, and the desserts were perfetta. All around, great and wonderful meal.

Beautiful statue situated in a small but well maintained park that stretches across the length of the small harbour. While there is a busy road running alongside the park the noise is kept to a minimum thanks to the large leafy trees that call the park home.

Great location and outstanding views a bit far from the montersso beach but the shuttle service provided is excellent and takes you to and from monterosso train station. No air-conditioner remote was provides even though the airconditioner was working fine,despite asking.Also provides buffet breakfast which is also quite decent. Rooms were slightly on the smaller side although nice and clean.

Nothing beats breakfast in the nature... If you done it before, you will know what I mean. It also comes with the great view of the Monterosso al Mare. Make sure that you packed light, taking bags in/out will be a challenge. You will be offered free shuttle bus service to/from Monterosso al Mare, best way to explore all five villages. The bus leaves I Lecci Soviore around 9:15 and picks you up from Monterosso al Mare around 19:00. Best way to explore all five villages is by train. For 16.5 Euros all day pass beats all parking and narrow road issues.

I thoroughly reccomend a stay here. We arrived late afternoon to a warm welcome. The views are magnificent. We were offered lifts to and from Monterosso so no hassle of driving and parking. Breakfast on the terrace was very special. I'm so glad we stayed.

Maybe Mexico coffee could be one of the best coffees in the world but the way how you do it prepare is the worst in Italy. Maybe you should do some maintenance on the coffee machine. Had lunch there yesterday. . And only meal for the day.. prawn salad. 5 hrs later I’m in bed with vomiting and severe stomach cramps plus headache. All night and next day. Had to cancel tours. So not only sick but out of pocket. Very bad experience at this restaurant. Seriously that’s your answer. ( No excuse) Wow. . You’re in the wrong business. I wasn’t complaining about the service. Awesome place. Great view. Great drinks. Great staff! I only interacted with the folks at the bar, but they are all incredible- they work hard, they have a smile on their faces and (for us) were very pleasant. I’m sure there are people who are more “transactional” and just pay for their drinks and food and go…but my daughter and I hung out there for a little and the waitress was awesome. She was sweet to my daughter (taking her up to the gelato freezer to pick out what she wanted) and when I went to the bathroom I see the waitress washing dishes! And she was all smiles… So before you jump down your waiter’s (waitress or bartender) throat, try starting your convo or transaction with a smile…it goes a long way. And 10€ for a Patron Margherita or a Mexican Mojito with Patron is nothing in 5-Terre!! Relax and give these fine people a break! Keep up the good work Bar Bagni Alga!

I clearly don’t understand the bad comments on this page, staff both from the beach and from the bar was very nice, always cleaning the beach and answering nicely tonyour questions, it is a family place. We paid 20€ for a full day with my wife and a kid, which is a fair price honestly, and we had no extra charge for the kid. Although, we were there in may which might be a little less busier than usual. Great place to stay !

This beach is the semi-private area for the Hotel Porto Roca. If you stay at the hotel, use the green and orange umbrellas. The beach has access to the caves to the left. The bar itself is not outstanding, but it has great views and great access to the beach! They also have bathrooms and an indoor shower.
