Very nice views. The bus is a bit expensive, but definitely recommend it, cause it's a hard hike up. If you want to spend more time on the mountain tell them while buying a ticket that you want more time - bus places are counted and you can't miss it.

Impressive place to visit for a bit of history and some great views. Although we had lots of clouds it was still ennjoyable. Not much to see from the house which has become a restaurant. Only possible to drive up there with the special bus line which is the only actual cost.

Just an amazing place with a chequered history. The views at the top are truly magnificent. We were fortunate to have had access the day we visited as the weather was beautiful. The walk through the tunnel to access the lift with the brass fittings was eerie but exciting. You could feel the spirits of those who had been before us.

Great example of NSGWP engineering and excess. Being one of the few standing buildings of the era this a must visit for any history nerd. Arrive early in the day to allow time to explore, enjoy a beer, and have lunch. I doubt there’s a more scenic view anywhere and I’ve only experienced a few roads/drives that rival the experience of getting to the Eagle’s Nest. It’s only open during the summer.

Awesome tour, the salt mine experience was something else, they really reach new level using 3D optical laser technology and graphs. The salt mine is still active and the tour goes 150 underground! Definitely a must place to go!!! The ticket cost 20€ plus 3€ the parking.

It's a fantastic experience, even though we weren't allowed to take pictures inside the mine. Trust me. A long wooden slide leads you down into the mine after passing through a rollercoaster! They take pictures of you when going down the slide. I would encourage folks to visit the mine because of its fascinating history. Gazing out to the mountains and vivid blue water cascading through, the exterior view is simply stunning.

First I thought it is something complimentary OK to see nothing special to expect, yet I was completely wrong, it really deserves every moment I spent there, you won’t feel the time, there are so many beautiful things there must see.

A great tour in an active salt mine. The tour takes a bit more than one hour. There are audio guides in different languages. You learn about the whole process of mining the salt inside the mine. There are 2 super fun slides in the mine. A light show, a boat and a cool elevator. The train ride is also very cool and the cold air was refreshing. There is also a small hike above the mine, that teaches you about salt and its’ role in human lives. The kids had lots of fun.

€20 per adult. You must book online in order to get the tour. You get sized up for a pair of overalls. The mine is a little chilli. A little train takes you into the mountain. No photography is allowed inside. There is a photographer at the start, and an auto photo on the first wooden slide, however, when you are released at the end of the tour through a random door, we totally forgot to walk back to the main building , past the queues of people to look for where you request a copy!😡. The tour is great, lots more surprises inside!

That was my first and only salt mine experience, and it was really awesome. Too bad it was not allowed to shoot and take any pics in the mine at the time, don't know if it's allowed now. Anyway, I liked the tour so much, I won't even remove a star for this.

The tickets were shockingly affordable and Definitely worth it. It was a very unique experience, they gave you miner jumpsuits to wear and then you drive 600m through the mountain to the mine itself. It was quite chilly in the mine so don't underestimate it. The tour consisted of slides and detailed explanations which was very enjoyable even for children. Defiantly recommend it, it was really fun and informative.

The experience is great. Our kids enjoyed it a lot. There are two slides, a couple of projections, entry and exit with a train and boat through underwater mirror lake. The only downside is the fact that you can't make photos. It is well planned and you can learn while having fun. The only downside is that you should pay parking even if you bought a ticket for the mine. Overall it deserves a visit.

Amazing thing to do while you staying in Berchtesgaden and its neighborhood. The mine tour is really well prepared, with full explanation of every step by an expert guide that will be with you and the others visitor during the whole experience, holograms and lights will make the rest simply outstanding. If you don’t speak German don’t worry, they will provide you with a device that will describe exactly what the guide are saying. So be safe and DO the sliders!!! 😀

If you are in the Berchtesgaden area, I highly recommend you take 2 hours out of your day and go on a Salt mine tour. The fees are reasonable, the tour is about 90 minutes long, and worth the mine car ride down into a working salt mine, the wooden slide ride (twice), and boat ride across a brine lake, and the mine car ride out. The tour guides are very knowledgeable. If you have children, I would recommend they be older than 6 years old so they remember the tour later as adults, and enjoy the experience. Note that photos are NOT allowed. Thus, I have none to post. I hope your experience is as good as mine.

Had a wonderful time at the salt mines. The staff is friendly and helpful. The information, the history explained during the tour is easy to understand. For some excitement as well as an experience there are 2 places where we need to slide down. It was fun to slide down holding each other. Anyone who visits should not miss it! The technology used to explain various steps in the salt extraction process is Awesome. The most exciting part of the tour is how it ends - with a boat ride in some meters deep of salt water. The laser show here is mind boggling, it takes you into a different world. My family and I loved every second of this experience. My 9 year old came out with a big broad smile after the tour. We got our pictures as well of us sliding down at the exit counter. They are a little expensive however worth the spend.

Fantastic visit! One of the few places I’ve been where I felt they totally earned the entry price. The tour is really really good. Lots of information, cool sites, and different activities (slides, underground boat rides, train ride, Bergbahn ride). Brilliant for kids and adults. I highly recommend it.

Highlight of any daytrip for families! Ticket is around €50 for 2 adults + one kid (4+ years). You can easily take your 2 year-old, no problem. After being greeted and dressed in black overalls, a 3-minute trainride takes you inside the mine. The tour takes about an hour, highlights being two slides, a lasershow and a short boatride across a saltlake inside the mountain. It's a constant 12 degrees year-round inside, dress accordingly. You will love it, easy 5/5. 💯

We visited on a weekend and it overcrowded. The online ticketing system was not working and we had to wait for a long time to get the tickets. Otherwise it was a great experience. The bus ride up and the view was worth it. Better to book the tickets in advance and reserve the slots!!!

If you're up the mountain to visit the Eagles nest don't skip the documentation center, it's the better of the 2 activities. Newly opened in September 2023, the "new" documentation center sits right beside the original. There you will find audio guides, an informative movie about the history of the Obersalzburg, interactive displays/maps, and most impressively, access to a small portion of the underground bunker system.

I wish we had allowed more time. We were estimating based on knowing that the audio tour was around 80-90 minutes but there is much, much more to see and read besides the parts covered in the audio. If you really want to read everything, plan for at least two hours, plus time if you would like to walk around a bit outside. It is a tremendous value for the price and should not be missed.

It's the area over just the Church. Stunning location, peace and serenity deep in nature. Witnessed three very small avalanches from a far which was lovely to behold (No dangers and warnings not to go off on your merry way up the far away peaks!!)

Saint Bartholomew's Church is located in the midway to Königssee. This building adding more to the beauty of the area. An ancient building which gives a majestic look. It is midway point where tourists can spent time and enjoy the beautiful Scenic Views. Boats reach and leave this area after every 15 minutes. Beautiful place and strongly recommended for tourists.

A beautiful church at Serene location with Alps and lake view. There are good walking trails and a restaurant for refreshment. Expect a crowd during peak season and on weekends. You may end up spending a long time in the queue for the return trip. It's a pleasure to visit either in Spring or in Autumn.

Very informative place for children and even for adults sometimes. I suggest to bring the kids here first which would motivate them to visit the national park or forest to see in person what they have learnt here. There's also a kino playing interesting videos. When we visited, it was about climate change. For a family ticket of 10 Eur, it was well worth it. There's also an English audio guide available, free of cost. The restaurant inside serves delicious food. Reviewed that separately.

Very interactive museum. Enjoyed every bit. We loved the usage of light, sounds and information. The ‘cinema’ is beautiful with an amazing surprise in the end. When you visit Berchtesgaden you cannot skip this museum.

Simple but entertaining and interactive permanent exhibit about the plant and wildlife of Berchtesgadenerland as well as some local history and folk culture. Some parts of the exhibit offer English translation, but the majority of it is only in German. This is a good place for elementary-aged kids as well as older kids and adults. The exhibit makes good use of multimedia technology and interactive displays.

We were there with our class and it was really cool seeing all the different animals and description on them!

Fantastic place! The brochure said a leisurely visit would take 3 hours. They were right. This was a fabulous museum appealing to multiple senses: sight, sounds, and touch. And it had a bit of mountain geology, biology, microbiology, soil science, as well as samples of the rocks, floors and fauna of mountains. My personal favorite, perhaps because I hadn't seen anything like it before, was a series of relief maps showing the region from the time of Pangea to the present, and what it is predicted to be thousands of years in the future! We thought we were going to visit a museum, but we visited a WOW instead. I will hopefully be able to return to this place in the future. Do much to see, do, and to learn. Exhibit plaques were in both German and English

A fun museum for a rainy day, but not the best for very young children, and we did not love the restaurant, which I will review separately. I'd recommend the museum for ages 5 or 6 +. Most of the visitors were adults, so our children stood-out. But it's an interesting museum, and I would have loved to spend some relaxed hours here reading everything.

Fab little museum all about the different habitats found in these mountains. Projections change the season every few minutes. There is a lot of information about the local wildlife, and a number of interactive screens. There is a cave habitat which you take a torch into (from a rack by the cave entrance) to explore. Very interesting and well thought out. We had ice creams from the on-site cafe, which were delicious, and there is a good kids playground out the back along with information boards about some local features.

Amazing views and drive. I liked it so much that I went twice but unfortunately I didn’t have the proper equipment for hiking in the snow. I stopped at Ahornkaser for some sweets and hot chocolate and it’s a beautiful setting. Friendly staff

Beautiful drive. Great places to stop off and play in the snow. (We visited in early January.) The roads are kept clear. Parking at one of the ski lifts closest to the northern entrance can be ridiculous. Please, when you go, don't be an a-hole and park in the road just because you don't wanna walk 50 extra meters. There was a huge parking area, almost unused, that was just a bit further along the drive toward the south entrance. If you were to continue further southbound, you'd see the Rossfeld Skihütte restaurant parking on the left. *When you by a ticket, it is for one trip only. Re-entry is not included. So, if you are smart and want to get your money 's worth, you will turn around before you exit.

It is a must visit place in Berchtesgaden. The entrance ticket is 8 euro for cars. You can drive upto the last point and park there. It is beautiful in every weather.

A great way to spend some time in the alps. Avoid the Eagles Nest crowds and see the same sites. Lots of fun very short side hikes. If you start on the south end, the ice cream places are at the end, which is fun. Some people were flying drones a little aggressively which was noisy and distracting. They should prohibit them in this park.

It’s amazing Alpine view without the hiking. Can be reached by Car, bus or cycle. You need to pay 8.5€ toll for car entry. The road brings you all the way up to a high plateau. They have many large parking lots for catching views. We parked our car many times to enjoy beautiful view. It’s not too crowded. We drove up and there was a small hut just before the road descends. They serve food and drinks. You can enjoy a cup of coffee and sunset. Highly recommended for best driving experience and cyclists.

In a clear weather you can see really good mountain views. this place is very popular among the road tourers. But you can also visit this place via public transport. you can see good views from the bus too. Once you're on the top (last stop on the bus line 848)You can spend your time there enjoying the views.

Spent 1 night in July 2005. We were the only people staying there. Frau Scharfenberg provided a tour and shared with us the history of the facility and shared private pictures from the late 1930’s and 1940’s with us. Was given access to a much more vast expanse of the entire obersalzburg bunker complex, that is not for public view. Amazing evening at the Turken and oh the stories Frau Scharfenberg shared with us. Our rooms were converted WSS holding rooms. Sad to say Frau Scharfenberg has passed and the Turken is closed for now. A wonderful woman. An amazing stay and hospitality, and the views and history you just can’t pay for!

This hotel survived WW2 and has the entrance to a 42 kilometer long series of bunkers Hitler built around the Eagles Nest. Amazing historical experience $5.50 to get in. This is only one section of the tunnels that would have connected to the rest of the bunker system by then Eagles Nest. This section also contains the closed off part that is labelled as Hitlers private bunker area. More bunkers are visible at the nearby museum.

We had a wonderful stay at this historic hotel. We had initially only reserved one of the smaller rooms, but decided to upgrade to one of the larger rooms in the original section of the hotel with a balcony overlooking Berchtesgaden. Unfortunately we brought rainy weather with us when we showed up, but still caught some beautiful views of the town below. The upgrade was still well worth it as it also gave us in room "facilities", which isn't always a given in older European hotels. This was one of my favorite hotels during our 3 week stay in Europe. The access to the bunker system underneath the hotel is an added bonus. Not often you get a chance to explore part of a WWII bunker system for a few Euro.... When we make it back to this part of Germany we'll be staying here again. Great experience!

Beautiful interior, breathtaking view and included in and surrounded by history. No TV, no wifi to dilute the experience. The hotel offers a breakfast bar including bacon and eggs, and lunch or an early dinner is just a short walk away near the dokumentation center. Grab a drink at the honor bar, take it to your balcony and enjoy the view of the Bavarian Alps in peace. Monika and the caretakers are top notch and I can't wait to visit again!

my wife and i stayed here for an evening and were very very satisfied. given the history of this hotel, you feel like you have one foot in the past and one in the present. the staff are great as well. be sure to check out the private bar at night and the tunnels during the daytime. amazing experience all around. thank you for the hospitality.

Don't expect a luxury hotel, but expect an original hotel who will take you back in time. The hotel owner will make you feel at home, the true German breakfast is very good. For those who want to feel the history of the Obersalzberg this is the place to stay!

Nice and neat southern German town in the beautiful Alpine setting. Dozen od coffee shops, restaurants and stores with local products, semi precious stones (belief in the power od crystals that reaches to pre-christian times is obviously still alive here among some members od local community) and Schnaps (sort of brandy) infused with berries, pine needles od apricot aromas. Some terrific examples of late middle-ages "buerger" architecture as well as picture perfect small town castle placed at the outskirts of town. A bit enigmatic frescoes at the gallery opposite to the castle commemorate soldiers fallen in two twentieth century wars. Town has certain sinister reputation, but instead of trying to decipher it I would rather suggest spending some time on the magnificent Koenigslake some 6-7 km away.

A very enjoyable place even if you don't use the guide. The town is historic and beautiful, shops to wander around and loads of places to eat and drink. There are free public toilets which are very clean.

I would highly recommend the centre when you visit the Eagles Nest. The history of Hitlers rising and atrocities presented through audio tape, photographs and various documents. A little tight to walk around the centre due to size and amount of visitors at one time. I'm confident the new build will meet the need for more space.

My cousin took me here for a walk, what a beautiful, historic and picturesque place. We spent several hours walking and sightseeing. Could have spent even longer but were meeting our spouses for supper.

Es gab leider keine Hintergrundmusik, keine freundlichen Worte zur Nachtruhe, eben nur Anweisungen, wie Handy aus! Licht wird jetzt ausgemacht. Tee steht vor der Küche! etc. Ich war beschäftigt, dass ich mich umsah um den Berg von innen mit den dezenten Beleuchtungen zu bestaunen. Ich war noch nie an einem solchen Ort. Ich war fasziniert. Wir waren um den kleinen Solesee positioniert, auf dem ein Brunnen ein und ausgeschaltet werden konnte. Da an diesem Ort die Ruhe und Stille, mit der Salzluft als besonderes Erlebnis gepriesen wird, freute ich mich sehr auf diese stille Erfahrung! Ich liiiebe Stille! Der Brunnen plätscherte nicht dezent leise, sondern so laut, relativ hell beleuchtet, dass die meisten TN sehr schlecht geschlafen haben. Die Schnarcher hätten definitiv weniger gestört. Zu guter Letzt kam am Morgen noch ne pampige Anleitung wie man die Decken zu richten und seine Tasse wegzuräumen hätte. Ich kam mir vor wie in der Jugendherberge bzw. im Camp. Liebe Veranstalter! Wir haben nicht wenig für die Nacht bezahlt! Ein freundlicher Ton sollte Bedingung sein. Es empfiehlt sich ein Kissenbezug mitzunehmen, denn die vorhandenen Kissen und Decken werden nur aufgeschüttelt und wieder für die nächsten Teilnehmer hingelegt. Die Salzluft tat mir gut. Da ich oft und lang wach war, hatte ich Zeit meinen Atem zu beobachten. Er entspannte sich und ich konnte immer tiefer atmen. Mein Partner hat noch weniger geschlafen und fühlte sich entsprechend schlecht, statt entspannt und ausgeruht. There is a lot of information about the local wildlife, and a number of interactive screens. There is a cave habitat which you take a torch into (from a rack by the cave entrance) to explore. Very interesting and well thought out. We had ice creams from the on-site cafe, which were delicious, and there is a good kids playground out the back along with information boards about some local features.
