My first time visiting since I was a young child. Most of it is still the same 😅 The rides were all closed barring one, which was very disappointing. The hall of mirrors was also closed. And when walking around, there was the underwater area closed off too, without any warning. This place definitely isn't worth £30 each ticket, so I'm disappointed that I spent so much money to get into here to find a lot of things closed. I think there should be some money back when most of the rides are closed. Also makes it harder work when you have disappointed children. My children enjoyed the dinosaur walk area and being able to climb on a few dinosaurs, but got bored quickly. The snakes and ladders area was a hit, as the slides were fun. I'd definitely say this is a young child's park, aimed at under 5s. My children are between 5-7 and like I say, got bored quickly in the sections. This is also very expensive to get into compared to other attractions that offer a lot more for your money and have rides open.

Brilliant day! Really enjoyed the new additions to the park and a good variety for all ages. What a stunning view from the top of Evolution ride. Also good to choose intensity level of Extinction - full 360 or not. Staff are super helpful and no wait for rides. Decent kids burger in La Cantina!

Had a great day, lots of things to see and do. It's definitely aimed at younger children but contains everything from Dinosaurs and Giant Bugs to scary goblins and Cowboy towns. Only the one roller coaster so it's more of and adventure and explorer park than a rides and thrills park

A really wonderful place to visit for a day. We arrived at 10 and left at 4 with two really happy children. There is something for everyone there. We particularly enjoyed the dinosaur walk round area with some very humorous signs. There is an under the sea section for smaller children and even a wild west area with a shop where you can buy cap guns and the children (and adults can pretend they are in the wild west. As it was Halloween half term there was also meet the dragon and dodo as well as a haunted house live show.

Unlike mainland cookie cutter theme park attractions, Blackgang Chine is quirky and unique. Great place for kids with a wide variety of things to do. Get the two park ticket with Robin Hill for 7 days of fun. Staff were friendly, prices reasonable.

Just a brilliant family day out with fun for both the young and the young at heart. There's something for everyone. I highly recommend this place. It's dog friendly, so if you are holidaying with fido, the park is very accessible. I recommend bringing a water dish. Wheelchair users should be aware there are a lot of steep gradients that I believe would pose a problem. Food and drink is available on site and the toilets are clean and plentiful. It's nice to bring a picnic though, as the views towards Freshwater Bay are beautiful. Because they are changeover days, I believe Mondays and Fridays are the least crowded in the high season and we'll worth considering - especially with using the rides in mind. The water chute is particularly popular with kids and big kids . You can save money by buying your tickets on line.

I would rate this place as an average for tourists prospective as majority of attraction inside artificially built and great only for younger kids... They have two rides and two slides inside the park. We visited in month of April and Might be better in summers.

Kids will love it especially the Dinosaur theme area! Maze runner, pirates ship all are fun. One booking you are allowed to enter free for next 7 days, so plan accordingly and use it to the max.

Magical place, great for all ages, so much to do and such lovely staff, the decor is stunning and every detail makes such a difference! One minute you are in an enchanted forest and then underwater, brilliant place.

Very relaxed theme park ( visited towards the end of season ), kids weren't overly impressed at first, but by the end, they loved it. The water slide is a great way to finish your visit off. Entrance fee may seem a bit much, but everything is free once you are in the park plus you can revisit as much as you want for 7 days!! Well worth it.

Great day out for families. Even we two, nominally adults, had a fun if silly time over nearly four hours. If you've got kids it will fill a day. We had a joint ticket with Robin Hill, which is good value. Going out of season, a few things weren't open, but still loads to do - dinosaurs, cowboys, dodos, pirates, crooked house, scary mansion and more.

It was a family trip and we all had fun. The park is as good as 25 years ago when we went as kids. Very nice to bring the children now and have fun as a family.

Really fun and silly day out for all the family. Nice manageable Park, lots of facilities, not the most imaginative menu in the main cafe but still a decent lunch. Lots of ice cream!

Even though the weather was terrible the children loved it staff were realy nice and they even emailed us when we got back to our holiday home to say we could use tickets rest of the week well worth a visit

I went there 32 years ago so fort would go back and have a look. Hasn't changed much. Big car park. Big pirate. Lots of rides. What you could see ,but it was temporary closed. It was a shame but I brought back memories what we enjoyed

I have been coming to Blackgang since I was a tiny, and I still enjoy every minute of our visits. It's the perfect location to make those important memories with the family and is also dog friendly.

Blackgang Chine - land of imagination is so lovely for the whole family. The park was not huge, which was great because we didn't miss out on anything. The maze was fun. We all loved the water slides. Food was delicious too. We spent the whole day here 🦖🤠🦤🎡🛝

We hadn't been to Blackgang for years, and never with our children, so wasn't sure what to expect. We visited 3 times during our week on the island and were lucky to be attending in October, during their brilliant Fiesta of the Dead week. It really was superb; setback from the cliffs, the views are just beautiful. There are a variety of rides, some very tame and some not so much! Our favourite visit was during the evening. There were fire dancers, aerial acrobats, misfortune tellers, DJs, etc. Brilliant stuff. Will not hesitate to return.

We were there for Fiesta of the dead which made it better with a lot going on. Not much if you going for rides, couple of good ones. Aimed mostly at younger kids to run around and see things . Expensive unless you take advantage of returning on the same ticket for a few days.

A lovely place to visit with the family and their acceptance of dogs is unmatched. I have never been able to go to a theme park and take my dog with me however Blackgang Chine gives you that opportunity and it is amazing to say the least. It’s a great family location with plenty to do for the whole family: a number of rides, arcade games, plenty of places to eat and drink and just interactive stations for the whole family to have a great time. I would have given 5 stars but I believe this place has more room to grow and adapt - we have been here every year for the last three years and it has pretty much stayed the same so it would be great to see some new attractions and some changes being made to continue bringing more people to the park so they can enjoy the magic of it. They also offer a return to the park within seven days with the ticket you originally purchased which is great but as it stands now it’s almost not needed because you can do all that is on offer in one.

Nice free morning out, or you can make donations. Get up and close with the donkeys. Nice picnic areas, and walks, if you wish to venture out with your own food. Although there is a cafe and shop, with reasonable prices. Keep in mind that the money you spend goes back into the upkeep of the sanctuary, and feeding of the donkeys.

Lovely place to visit. So many gorgeous animals and looked so cared for. Free as well but happy to donate when there. Staff are happy to talk to you and dog friendly too. A visit is a must I'd say!

This is such a wonderful place to visit with the whole family, including your furry friends. The donkeys are obviously well looked after and happy, and the information available on each of their rescue stories is wonderful. The staff and volunteers are all very knowledgeable and personable and are happy to provide little anecdotes on the donkeys, making them feel more like friends! Be advised that there is a lot of walking as the site is very open, but the beautiful new walkways are excellent for wheelchairs and strollers. The Cafe provides a delicious menu of snacks and sandwiches but there can be a long wait for food during busy times - but trust me, the food is worth waiting for!

Friendly staff and plenty of car parking! 🅿️ lots of donkey. I visited with 12months baby she love the donkey. we had a fun. if you visit only for donkey will take 30-60min should be enough. they have very good cafe as well.

We enjoyed our visit here. The sanctuary is spread over a couple of acres, so good weather is definitely a bonus. You will be outdoors, so be sure to dress appropriately. All the paddocks have wheelchair accessible paths. There is a nice cafe with good seating areas both inside and out, all of which are wheelchair accessible. There are toilets outside with steps, but those in the cafe are at ground level. I would like to have seen more people on hand to explain the project and give personal details of the animals. All detail is via signage that is difficult to relate to the animals in the paddocks. All in all, it's a nice family visit which will take up approximately 1 to 2 hours.

This is a truly delightful place thanks to very hard work of all staff and volunteers. The donkeys and ponies are well looked after, with some becoming pantomime stars! My favourite is Polar Bear in the pink jacket! You must find yours! Free entry, so I believe the place really deserves donations for all the hard work of so many people.

One of our favourite places to visit. Free parking and free entry, although the sanctuary are very grateful for donations. There is a nice cafe, lovely walks and lot and lots of donkeys! Dogs are welcome.

Lovely clean and friendly donkey sanctuary on the Island. Similar to the other sanctuaries on the mainland but a large number of animals. It was a hot day so there wasn't much scratching of backs to be had but there was a talk available. Cafe is lovely and i had amazing vegan cake and had soya milk too. Even inside the cafe is dog friendly which is nice. Spent a nice few hours wandering around the animals and trying to spot them all on the 'spot the donkey' sheet. Don't forget to gift aid your donation for visiting, the donkeys deserve it.

A wonderfully run sanctuary where you could tell that the care of the animals was at the level of passion. The staff are wonderful and the animals heart warming to see thriving. So worth a visit

I highly recommend this place. The only place I know to be free to get in and park !! I put in a big donation though as they need all customer support to help survive all their 109 donkeys!! Such a lovely place to come and stroll and have some lunch with a great cafe and shop. Will definitely be back and would even volunteer myself if I ever lived on the island!

This was such a lovely visit. All the staff members are so lovely and helpful and really welcoming. The donkeys are great and I love all the little touches like displaying the names of the donkeys on their halters and paddocks and the funny and informational posters and plaques around. The place is doggie friendly and highly educational and I whole heartedly recommend a visit!

Absolutely brilliant. The donkeys were looked after extremely well. We had an amazing time and it was really lovely that you have the stories of donkeys and that you can donate or adopt the one you want. There were around 120 donkeys and a few ponies too. Gift shop was very good and bought a few bits too.

Staff very friendly The entire site was very clean, lovely conditions to see donkeys live their lives. All donkeys were so quiet, calm and great with my golden retriever! Some came over and said hi were fine petting. Cafe was great too.

If you want to see donkeys in fantastic well-kept and safe surroundings with lots of different fun, interesting and slightly sad stories about how these lovely animals ended up at the sanctuary, then this is the place for you. It’s completely free to enter and relies upon your donations. The restaurant and ice cream area is fantastic and quite reasonably priced. And there’s plenty of opportunity to just sit and relax in the wonderful countryside that’s around the donkey sanctuary. For a reasonable monthly charge, we ended up sponsoring and adopting another donkey named after our son Barney, which was great fun.

Lovely, large facility for retired and rescued donkeys. Joseph stole our heart so we adopted him. A sweet boy. We went back a few days later to see him again before we came home. He came over to the fence for an ear rub which made my day. Entry is free, but please consider giving what you can to support the donkeys, which can be gift-aided. Site has free parking, toilets, a gift shop and a beautiful cafe in a restored barn, with outdoor terrace overlooking a pen with some rams.

Free entry to an excellent place to spend a miser0able afternoon. It was raining and windy, so the donkeys were in their barns. If you like this sort of thing, which I do, you will find the most peaceful place. Plenty of animals with a lot of information about where they have all come from and how they are recovering. Plus excellent shop and cafe.

Ah the donky sanctuary. What a place, if you like donkeys. Luckily I do. Some are sociable. They do a good coffee too. I brought the obligatory soft toy donkey but the shop has a lot of donkey related merchandise. Free entry! Parking limited on our visit but I'm sure they could open up extra if there's not been too much rain!

Really lovely sanctutuary with lots of lovely donkeys. It's free to get it in but good to donate to keep this place going. It has a cafe and gift shop. They have an outdoor seating bit with tractors which my daughter loved she also loved the little picnic benches for young children. My daughter loved this place so much she didn't want to leave. Would definitely reccomend a visit.

First of all this place is run by true legends and they do so much to care for these lovely animals. It’s such a wonderful place to visit and it’s been amazing the last few years see it go strength to strength. If you’re an animal lover it’s a must visit. The cafe here is absolutely fantastic too with amazing food at reasonable prices.

The family at AtlasAdventured highly recommends visiting here! If you ever find yourself on the Isle of Wight, you definitely have to stop at the Donkey Sanctuary. So many donkeys! And Shetland ponies! We stopped by in October 2023, hoping to attend their halloween event, but due to the rain it was canceled. They still gave the kids a trail hunt to go on and bring back for a special treat! It is free to get in, but it is always a good idea to donate. Let’s keep this sanctuary going! All of the animals are very happy and friendly. Most of the donkeys will come right up to the fence to say hello! You can tell that they are well taken care of. They all have signs attached to their fences which tell you their names and a little bit about themselves. We had a good time finding names that matched some of our family members! The staff was super friendly, the cafe has good healthy food options, plenty of seating, and the gift shop was full of cute stuff! It was very easy to get here. We took the bus and it dropped us off right out front. There is a big parking lot, bathrooms, and is wheelchair friendly. We cannot wait to come back on our next trip to the Isle of Wight.

I recently visited Ventnor Botanic Gardens on the Isle of Wight, and unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. Despite its reputation, I found the collection to be lacking, with a significant emphasis on trees rather than the diverse array of flowers I had anticipated. Upon arrival, I was eager to explore the renowned botanical wonders, only to find that the variety of flora was limited. While the trees were impressive, the overall lack of diversity in plant species left me feeling underwhelmed. Although the setting was tranquil and the landscape well-maintained, the sparse collection of plants detracted from the overall experience.

A lovely garden full of exotic plants, kids under 6 go in for free. Adults pay just under £10 each, you can return free for up to 7 days. The paths were a bit narrow at some points and unstable for prams or wheelchairs. The bees and flowers were lovely to look at. There is a little play park at the end of the path. Thought you could go in the big green houses but they are not open to the public. We had to go back on ourselves to get out as we couldn't go down the stairs and the restaurant has a lift but only half way and the rest is stairs. By the end of it, we just wanted to get out so had to walk all the way back to the entrance to exit the gardens. Needs to be better sign posted for the exit.

We've just had a wonderful morning visiting Ventnor Botanic Gardens. Beautifully laid out and not overly manicured, the gardens are a medley of colour, scents and textures to delight the senses. Our dog never stopped being eager to explore every nook and cranny. There were plenty of cool shaded areas to escape the sun. A real joy. There's a lovely cafe and a very decent gift shop too. Very highly recommended.

A nice enough place to mooch around, but we were given 3 different maps (normal, secret spots and trees...??) and despite this we never really knew where we were or how to get to places. For example the hops field and coastal path are on the map, but we couldn't find access to them... Then we ended up in a type of veranda where we could see the shop selling paintings but couldn't access it from there. Not really sure why that path existed... Did see turtles and lizards though which is nice.

I had high hopes for this place and unfortunately I was dissopointed. The garden itself is quite nice and a lovely little outing. Obviously this time of year nothing is in bloom and that's to be expected it was still nice. As the sun was out, it was delightful to meet the tortoise who was having a sun bathe in the pond. The dogs had a nice time, would have been useful to have bins around for rubbish and dog waste. The tropical greenhouse, actually ruined my trip. As a lover of tropical plants and a collector I was looking forward to the green house but everything was dead. Just vines of dead ivy, stagnant water and some very unhappy monstera's. The building was falling apart. I've never been to a greenhouse, even at this time of year to be so dissopointed. It's in need of some TLC.

Never been to the botanical gardens before and I must admit, it wasn't high on my list of things to do whilst on the island. However, what a mistake that was! This is a quite stunning place with an amazing array of non British species of plants. A very well laid out set of gardens with all different areas of the world represented in a horticultural form. A coffee and snack from the cafe is a must and look out for the sand lizards! Quite surprised and delighted to find the lizards amongst the plants. Some lovely items in the shop as well. Overall a very well spent £10.50 for admission. Stayed for a good number of hours and thoroughly enjoyed!

Nice place to walk around - so many interesting plants to look at. Particularly liked the Japanese terrace. Parking is free for visitors. Friendly staff.

The location is amazing. The history of how the place came to exist is very interesting. However the weeds were a bit overgrown in some parts and some bits looked not very well looked after. The Japanese garden and surroundings seem new and better looked after. The greenhouse seems to need a lot of attention, unfortunately the pond didn't seem to have been cleaned properly and same with the glass which blocks a lot of the light (lateral windows). Another thing to mention: many plants don't display a name or tag which makes it hard to identify the plant. Many lizards running around which is pretty cool! Overall the price is worth the visit, if more people visit I think the money could go to improve it :)

Reasonably priced for 2 adults and one child £28. This included the cost to park. However, paid online and no receipt via email received. Luckily we had screenshot the reference number or we'd have no way to prove it. Upon arrival it states admittance inside. No clear directions once inside, queued at the gift shop to be redirected to the cafe, queue again to then enter. No map was given. Although an interesting walk around, but no clear guidance on which way to go, so you not only worry you will miss parts, but I found it worse than IKEA trying find the exit. There is minimal information on the plants growing and I thought this was a real shame, as I know there is many rare tree and flowers growing. I would still recommend though, its interesting to visit and we enjoyed the walk around.

A lovely place even in the depths of British Winter, Not far from the town of Ventnor, About a 20 mins walk, I know cos I walked into town from the gardens. The car park is not free, It cost me £3 (Jan 2024 prices) and to get in £10:50. The Gardens have so much variety in trees,shrubs, and flowers, With a guide map as well to take you all around the site, There is even a Tropical Garden, With a aray of very different species. Some of the slopes were steep but there is a flat path that allows wheelchair users to use. I had a cup of tea plus a scone and cream/butter at the on site Cafe/Restaurant which was fantastic. There is also a gift shop that allows to to buy plants and other items connected with the Gardens. All of the staff I met were so friendly.

It truly is a global dream for all manner of plant friends. Gift shop with branded goods and small nursery with everything from herbs to exotics and seeds. Easily accessible pathways to the majority of the gardens makes it easy underfoot. We went at the beginning of April and sadly due to the plants confusion over climate....the usual springing into life wasn't occurring......no doubt come June their display will be spectacular! Take away suggestion is to devote an entire day to truly appreciate everything on show.

Love walking round the gardens, amazing plants and wildlife, always see the lizards in the arid gardens. Just such a lovely place to sit and chill and enjoy the scenery and the amazing plants. I’m not keen on the menu in the cafe, not much for children, there was no cake that I liked the look of today, but the coffee is good and that’s not really what I went there for.

Nice day out at the Botanic gardens. Started at the café, lovely mushroom omelette freshly cooked in front of our table with good tea & flat white coffee at reasonable prices. Entrance was £10.50 adult ticket, which I think is good value for what there is to see. Winding pathways work there way back & forth through wooded area's to open green lawns. Large hill on the side of the gardens give good views out to sea & back over the gardens. Much to see here, visit approx 3 hours.

One of my favourite places to visit and have a leisurely stroll around the gardens, sit an read a book and keep an eye out for the little lizards that scurry about basking in the sun, followed by a coffee and cake in the cafe!

Little Tamarisk is my winter haven, bolt hole and New Year retreat! January may not be the time most people are thinking of going away, but following the indulgences of Christmas and the chaos of New Year, it has become my tradition to book a four day break at Little Tamarisk and long may this tradition continue. This gorgeous little cottage / cabin is set in private gardens, surrounded by palms and over looking the sea. It is as cosy and snug in winter as it is exotic and tranquil in the summer. Beautifully furnished with wood and tasteful textiles, it’s the perfect place to snuggle up with a blanket, eat super nourishing food, read a book, journal or draw. I’ve found lots of walks nearby … to the Botanic Garden and along the coastal paths, as well as hidden pathways to nearby Ventnor and winding stairways down to Steephill Cove, the whole area is full of atmosphere, charm and character. It’s the perfect place for a tranquil winter break, and is just as lovely in the summer.

Very Friendly and efficient staff. food was very nice and atmosphere relaxed and informal. TIcks all the boxes, so much so, that we're returning tomorrow with our friends.

What a great find this place is, this is our second stay and we just love tranquility, listening to the wave anytime of day but especially in the evening and at night. To get away from the mad in a rush world we live in , this is the place. Wonderful.

Little Tamarisk is a little gem of a place, well hidden and far from the maddening crowds (in the summer). But yet very close to the beauty of Steephill Cove with its lovely Crab Shed and other eating places. It’s a bit of a steep drop to walk down to but hey, there’s a reason for the name! The “little” accommodation is cosy, clean and well equipped for what it is….snug, romantic, private base to explore the island and local area. Located at the end of Love Lane (can’t make this one up!), great for couples!

Lovely little cove, well worth the climb down, very picture postcard. So glad I went, just be aware if you walk back along the coast remember comfy shoes and a lot of steep steps 👍

Spectacular scenery, especially in the summer when this and the surrounding areas start to feel like somewhere tropical rather than the south of England. Holds a lot of sentimental value to me due to nostalgic childhood memories. Fantastic views; peaceful, isolated atmosphere; very photogenic; and lots of wildlife/geological appeal.

Amazing little cover, not quite as hidden as some might like but it is a gem nonetheless. Safe little space to swim when calm, with the sea in or out. Can hire deck chairs and kayaks etc. at reasonable hourly rates.

Nice tranquil walk, small river and pretty flowers. Can go up along the lift tops or down them. Exercise park at the top. Fantastic views but quite steep, like everything in Ventnor..

A lovely park with lots of beautiful plants & flowers. Great for strolling around, little stream with pond & ducks. Nice & tidy with decent public toilets too.

Lovely old fashioned park. Brilliant on a sunny day. Little tea garden with small putting green all reasonably priced. If you walk up there’s a great open area with amazing views and an outdoor adult gym. You can also join the Coastal Path from here. Parking is on the street. 😀

Lovely place for all ages - good walks available. Bit cold during the winter not much cover but in the sun it is lovely. The cafe is good and the pitch and putt is fun for all ages

Great for a small park, stream and flowerbeds. Well kept gardens. Putting area and an adult exercise area discreetly placed at top of park. Kiosk have a great selection of drinks, hot and cold food that is well made. Plenty of seating for eating and benches to relax. Also, occasional entertainment. What more can I say!

Nice place for family outing as well as for some one who wants to spend some quality time with nature. You must carry your meals or snacks if you plan to visit here.

Beautiful diamond of Ventnor. There's a pond with ducks and fish, an old Victorian bandstand. Stunning in the summer months flowers galore. There is a cafe at one end and a mini golf course as a separate concern.

A beautiful little park with a hidden gem of a tiny cafe and clean public toilets. There is a pitch and putt and a lovely tree covered walk that takes you up to some beautiful views. Plenty of spots to have a picnic with family and friends

This place is so good,they have bathrooms and amazing cake coffee sandwiches are awesome. This place is dogfriendly. This place is mini golf place. You must have amazing sea views.

Nice free park, quiet on a weekday and very pleasant. We played mini golf for a fairly cheap price, and I'm told they have a nice cream tea there too.

A small traditional and well cared for public park. We always like to walk through it when we are in that neck of the woods. A cafe is open in the warmer months, together with mini golf.

What a gem, little piece of IOW history with a tranquil setting. Beautiful church both inside and out! Walk from Bonchurch or the coastal path, however limited parking. Lovely. Very old graves to be treated with the utmost respect. 🙏

A very old church, more the size of a chapel. It has been more recently renovated so has, on the inside at least, lost some sense of its age. Plenty of notices on a board inside explaining the history and urban myths surrounding the local area and how the building fits into that through time. The garden/graveyard is serene with the sound of running stream water nearby, old tombstones, and an even older tree. There are candle lit masses there, at times posted; however, the building does afford electricity. From the forecourt it is only a short downhill walk to the beach. Definitely worth a visit on a lazy day.

Saint Boniface Parish Church & Bonchurch Old Church , Bonchurch Village Rd. Ventnor, PO 30 1 RQ , Isle of Wight. The church is a Grade II listed building , in a Norman style church. B. Ferry architect and Admiral Swinburne contributed a considerable sum. The church was founded by monks of Lyra, Normandy. Charles I was brought here from his prison at Carrisbrooke Castle to attend the burial of Sir Ralph Chamberlayne. The poet Swinburne was baptised here. The list of Rectors starts in 1283. The Chevalier D’Aux is buried in the churchyards. The legend that St.Boniface preached here to fishermen on his mission from the Benedictine monastery. The parish of Bonchurch first occur in Domesday Book as Bonecerce a contraction of Boniface together with ‘ cerce’ the Anglo/Saxon for Church.

Beautiful, peaceful church. Small but very picturesque. I could of sat in there for hours! Shame the footpath down to the bay is closed. But the church is well worth a visit

What a find, we were blown away by the fact this church is so old and hidden away! A very relaxing setting, tucked away so gives you an opportunity to relax and ponder.

A lovely small 11/12th century Church. Hidden gem. There's a really beautiful, wallpaper pictureseuque waterfall on its way from Bonchurch shoreline while coming from Sandown beach walkway.

This carpark was free from time immemorial until the greedy/bankrupt IoW council decided to waste more thousands of pounds to install PayUp here parking machines plus paying for car park attendants to issue parking fines. Shame as we used this regularly for walks. Lovely views not far from parking area. Bus stop nearby with good service from Shanklin and Ventnor. Take care crossing road

Excellent walks both sides of the road. Cross road if you have a dog and want to give it a run.

Ideal car park for a woodland walk. Walk to Bonchurch took us at least 45 minutes. The terrain is uneven and can be steep in parts.

Historic interest. A rainy day today so stopped here whilst driving around. Find the oldest tomb stone game amused our son for half n hr! Another hidden gem of the isle of Wight.

We really enjoyed this. Some great enlarged old photos and lots of interesting nuggets of info on a range of different aspects of Ventnor's history. It has an old-fashioned, home-made feel to it - including a wooden till you are allowed to have a go on - which won't be everyone's taste but we really appreciated and it's only £2 to get in.

Super interesting to read about the history and lots of information available. Really knowledgeable staff there and not to bad value. Could let more in these days though, need to relax the covid rules a bit.

A hive of interesting information with a working scale model of the old Ventnor railway. Run completely by a dedicated team of knowledgeable volunteers. Well worth a visit!

I've only been once but its a really good place just to visit on holiday or if you are seriously interested in pulling up more information on Ventnor for a project, gossip or just knowledge. Friendly space.

Truly wonderful beach. Not over crowded even on the bank holiday. Nice cafes running alongside. Partly sandy and small stones. The beach does shelve so be careful with small children as when at high tide the depth increases fast as you walk out.

Lovely little beach to stop by at. It is not huge but it is worth a visit. The colour of the beach is beautiful and it is very tranquil in the evening when it is quiet and the sun is going down. There is on street parking so you can even just enjoy the view sat at your car/van.

My favourite beach South East of the Isle of Wight. It has a character quite different from the regular beaches in the UK. Highly recommend the ice cream there.

A stunning area of the isle of wight. Sandy and pebble beach with a steep entry! Definatly worth a visit, very scenic and with costal walks near by. A few shop and toilets near by as well as a pub. Parking is readily available in 2 car parks or on beach front area

Very pretty beach front and wonderful views. The Spyglass public house at the end is a must to visit. First class food at very reasonable prices. Extensive range of drinks and friendly attentive staff.

Beach has lot of hotels and bar to enjoy. There is kids swimming pool and enough parking available.

Very beautiful place. The bus ride between Shankling and Ventnor is scenic.

Lovely little town with a great beach with numerous cafes next to it. The beach is stony so useful to have beach shoes otherwise can be a struggle. But sea was very clean and clear. There's also a cafe with an outdoor splash pool for kids with a giant map of the isle of wight.

We went hunting for treasures and found plenty here. It’s a shop crammed packed with gems in the form of little ornaments, jewellery and souvenirs. There is also a small curated museum further back housing artefacts from Ship wrecks and historic arts and crafts from the area. If you have a magpies eye prepare to leave with a spending high.

Fascinating. We really like this sort of place - not a whizzy, interactive museum curated in modern style, but fascinating stories and photos of real families, people and events told in a very personal way. Send the kids off for an ice-cream, and just soak it up. Photos, models, and memorabilia of life on this coast over the last 150 years.

It’s a hidden little museum. It’s very small but interesting and Free to visit. However young kids will most likely find it boring. My 9 year old didn’t enjoy it as there isn’t anything interactive for the kids. I recommend visiting without kids. Because it’s small and narrow in there it’s not wheelchair or pram accessible.

Cute little museum hidden inside the back of what looks like a zany gift shop when you first walk in. Spent around half hour here being teleported into the past looking at artefacts from days of the past and reading stories from people who lived years and years ago. Its also free, but we'd have felt awful without leaving a donation in the box outside. Fascinating stuff.

A wonderful little shop and museum. Very welcoming (even Benny the cat who my 5 year old loved!) and some great island mementos available for sale. We will definitely be visiting again before the end of our holiday.

Little bit of magic here - it's a wonderful celebration of Ventnor's history in the museum in the back, but also its current community in the shop in the front - so much of it filled with locally made, foraged and crafted items. Fossils come from the beach in front of you, the local fossil hunter is in the shop regularly and will chat to you, the art prints were all painted by the owners mother, the soaps are from the owners cousin. It's a proper family store and this is celebrated in the museum as well. A unique, delightful experience - and its free! (though you will struggle not to buy anything and leave a donation!)

Hidden museum found inside one of the sea front shops. Filled with old memories, pictures and stories. If you love maritime or local history, this is a gold mine.
