After a long drive to get there it was worth the wait. Going on the boat to the beach was fun. Once we got there the views were spectacular. If you don't like fish to eat then you very limited. The local sweets and drinks were very good. Had a great time here

Tayrona park was an amazing experience. It has magnificent views throughout the Path and is definitely worth visiting. Just be mindful of s few things. It's very warm and 2h30 walking each way, so go prepared! It is about 100 pesos per person and you can pay an extra to park the car inside the park. Bring cash since many places, including washrooms, reqyire cash.

Gorgeous and a must see! Did the 5 mile hike to Cabo San Juan to camp in the tents off the beach, and it was absolutely worth it.

Great place, amazing nature, stunning beaches. We saw a lot of trash tho maybe because there weren't many trash bins (of course this doesn't mean to throw the trash in the nature). The trekking is not good signaled so be sure to ask other people when not sure for the way.

Such an amazing place, if you are in Colombia make your way to see Tayrona. We did the walking through the jungle which is a route of roughly 15 km to and return Cabo San Juan. You might spot monkeys, rare birds and the trip is quite unique, but you need to be able to climb and proceed through mixed terrain. Buy water before entering. You can take a bus from the park entrance and to the trail start, which spares you 20 minutes walking on concrete. It cost around 10.000 pesos.

Large natural park with amazing scenery and beaches. Bring cash for entry (more for foreigners), boat trips to the nice beaches, and any food and drinks while you’re there. Get a “tent” so you have shade.

Beautiful and well organized park, it is point you should see but…. extremely crowded during Xmas and new year (Columbian holidays). Despite you must be ready for walk elbow to elbow it’s worth to go!

June 25 2022 I do not recommend it at this time. This place, apart from being a beautiful reserve, is currently in very poor condition for access to the beaches and other activities, the rains have turned the access roads into mud, we were all desperate to get out of there as soon as possible, the mud reached us half a leg and many tourists choose to rent horses to be able to move forward and this makes everything even worse, only 30% of the roads are made of wood, the rest of the access is through very narrow stones, dirt roads, streams, and areas of much vegetation with almost no access, food is expensive, and it is not safe for older adults or infants, there is no assistance in case of emergencies during the walk and you have to buy insurance worth 5000 Colombian pesos and I only saw 2 people supposed to help at the beginning and almost at the end of the trail.

Beautiful place, gorgeous beaches and a must go for hikers, for newcomers please keep and eye on the signs and DO NOT go into the turtle beaches, as people walk they compress the sand and when baby turtles hatch they are unable to reach the surface and die.

Amazing place!!! Lot of hiking trails and lot of wonderful beaches. You can see all sorts of wildlife here! But be careful the weather is most of the time very hot and humid here! (Crocs on the beach are possible)

Beautiful place, love it. It's been my 3rd time in this park and everything was just perfect. Did a boat trip from Santa Marta to get to the park and on a way back we did a hike. Amazing experience. Highly recommend

Awesome beaches and wildlife but this National Park is not well maintained and managed: rest area used by vendors to sell stuff, horse feces on the trail, garbage on the trail, vandalized signs, coconut leftovers everywhere on the trail, few trash cans available, paying bathrooms. To the park management: - This park is a top spot in Colombia , but it gives a bad image if compared to other top international natural parks. - Serious waste management is needed - Vendors should have a delimited activity area - Only natural elements should be used for construction - Horseriding should only occur on a dedicated path - Signs should be repainted

7km hike to Cabo San Juan. About 75-80m elevation. Most ups and downs at the start. Bring hiking shoes. Not wet in January. Closed at certain times of year. Took 6am bus from mercado publico and it cost 9000 cop and took 1 hour. Got in for free to tayrona im not sure why.

It would be nice if you weren’t harassed by every single person to buy something. My friends were literally afraid to go down most streets at night and they are Colombian. I wasn’t afraid but there wasn’t any savory people to interact with. Most people just stare at you or ask for money or just look like they may rob you. I wouldn’t come here alone.

An amazing park/area in the Centro Histórico part of Santa Marta. Surrounding the main park, there are a LOT of good restaurants, bars and discotecas. At night, the place becomes EXTREMELY LIVELY, especially on weekends.

Grate place. Surrounded by hostals, . bars, clubs and restaurants. Streets and alleys going out/in from the park,are also full with a variety of places to visit. Beutifull facades, one block from "El malecón" (seaside park), and two blocks from parque Simon Bolivar, also worth visiting, in this park is the Gold Museum and La Alcaldía.

Nice central park with trees around the sides and a paved square in the middle. Restaurants around probably half. Good meeting point. Lively with performers in the evening.

BE VERY CAREFUL. There are women who solicit and men they work with who will target you especially as foreigners. I’ve seen them following many people especially people who seem drunk and chatting them up. Even when you ignore them or say no many times they follow you and try to get close or touch you then pickpocket you. I’ve caught them in the act. If you decline them they ask for help to get some food and then wait to rob you there. I fell into this trap and bought them hamburgers then had to literally had to fight off 3 of them at the same time when they tried to snatch my wallet and phone. I went back to take pictures so you can be aware.

Parque de los Novios is a great place to people watch, dine in the mini restaurants nearby, grab a drink and walk while checking out the street performances. There are lots of police around so it feels safe. They are also mini benches but some of the bars are missing. All I enjoy walking by here in the evening or early mornings for exercise. When it rains everyone gathers underneath the shelter and it’s very cute. You can also find people selling beer and ice cream. But overall my favorite are the street performers.

Parque de los Novios was a beautiful experience in Santa Marta, Colombia. During the day there are friendly vendors, lots to see while you walk around and it great for families. At night it becomes more for couples with lots of romantic restaurants and dance clubs to spend the night dancing away. Definitely on my list to go back and visit, highly recommend it.

Week of Semana Santa and my wife was enchanted on this Saturday night. We dressed in white and had a great dinner. After complaining about the crowds I understood the point. It was a celebration of life and renewal.

Nice little park by the center of downtown. I don't know how late it's safe to stay here but lots of activity surrounding bars and restaurants. You can buy beers from vendors and hang out, park is generally well lit. Few statues for that picture taking moment.

This company was excellent. Very helpful and organised and good vehicles. The guides are indigenous to the area which makes a difference as they are known in the villages and you can meet the Shaman if you like. We saw other treks giving sweets to kids and not being so respectful with photography. This is a very sensitive area for tourism as people are living as they have for 1000's of years in the mountains. Great time, hard walking for sure. We did the 4 days trek with Teyuna to the Lost City. It was a challenge, but definitely worth it. The infrastructure of the camps and the food supplies are way better than we expected it from a 4 day Jungle Hike. We felt safe at any time. Our guides Carlos and Juan did an amazing job about guiding us safely through the jungle and telling us the history about the Lost City and the indigenous people. Also our chef Carlos did a great job in serving our needs. They made this trek an experience we will never forget! When you're in columbia for hiking and nature then the Lost City Trek with Teyuna is a must!

Had an amazing birthday trek to the Lost City in La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta with my mom and brother, and going with Teyuna as our guides was the best decision ever! Teyuna's crew was not just professional but also super friendly and considerate, especially since we were the slowest and oldest in the group. They kept us motivated and never made us feel left behind, making the journey enjoyable. A trip to The Lost City with the Teyuna Tours agency was an absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience. Our guides Hernan (native speaker) and Niko (translator) were great companions throughout the trip, they were friendly, funny, helpful and they provided us many many informations about the trip, the life of the local people and everything related to the area. The food made by our Chef Isodro was varied and delicious for the whole time. The food was supplemented with the fruit at the breaks during the trip. The guys in the office were very friendly and helpful too, it’s possible to store your luggage here during the trip. For the fee of 100K pesos, you can rent two trekking poles + 20 litres bag (definitely worth it!). You can find all the necessary informations on their web pages, which are very well composed. About camps: There is the free filtered water available or you can buy something at the stands during the trip (water, fizzy drinks, beer, some snacks). The accommodations are the same for all the agencies, it was basic but sufficient, according to the kind of the trip (the only minus – in the third camp Paraíso, the mosquito nets were very smelly). In general, the experience with the tour was beyond our expecations. We were very lucky and the whole group of “Teyuna Family” was great and all the people there will stay in our hearts forever!!!! ❤❤❤

Teyuna Tours were absolutely perfect! Jeison our guide, Fabian our translator and Alberto the chef were incredible. So attentive, accomodating to our dietary restrictions (gluten free/vegan) and full of knowledge of the history and indigenous communities and really enjoy their job. They made this already incredible experience so memorable. It’s not an easy trek, but extremely doable in 4 days, and the Lost City is pure magic. Don’t even look further when booking a company - these guys have planned it out meticulously.

We were completely blown away by the trip. Not only a fantastic experience, but the guides and interpreters Jura, Juan and luis made it extra special. They were very nice, engaged and informative. They really went the extra mile and it made a huge difference for the whole trip. Our only advice, bring a stash of toilet paper. It was pretty scarce on the trip.

Okay so to start it off, I hike a lot in Canada, and found this hike challenging so come prepared!!! The hike is a wet one (humidity) (I brought cotton and it was soaked every day and never fully dried), also chunklas are a must for the camps. The hike was wonderful and beautiful at every turn, I would recommend getting acclimatized to be heat if your from a cold climate cause this baddie was 🥵. Bring bug spray (strong deet) and have some handy in a lil pocket cause the little mosquitos don't play around. Also this trip was one of the best trips of my life I would recommend it anyone who even vaguely enjoys type two fun I'd say it's a must do, everyone was amazing in our group and so happy to help each other:). The best part of the trip though was how wonderful MIGUEL (our guide) was. He was so knowledgeable about everything and was always happy to teach us about the history of the area and the wildlife. He also taught us about the indigenous people in the area currently! With Miguel I never felt scared or unsafe the entire trip thanks to good communication and reassurance that we could do it. Miguel was always willing to make time for us and ontop of that he is a fantastic story teller who took pride and joy in every aspect of his job. Over all this will probably be one of the best experiences of my life. Also there's soo many people doing the hike and they were all hiking at different places so don't worry about being slow and remember to enjoy the nature and the connection you'll make with people along the way. Also I have servers allergies and they were more than happy to accommodate my needs where possible with some notice.

Hiking to Teyuna in the Sierra Nevada was an unforgettable experience. Truly unique. Our guide Micael was super knowledgeable of the area and our translator Nico was super helpful and fun, really made the whole experience so enjoyable. Deivi, our cook was also great and made us nice food for every meal and made sure we didn’t starve! Everything was carefully planned, and it made the hike seamless and enjoyable. The only downside was the price I would say which is quite high!

I felt like we had the best tour guides of all the tours I saw going up. Truly they were well organized, took good care of us, the food was abundant, and their general attitude was positive towards their customers , the land, the indigenous people, and their staff.

First of all i am very happy that i decided to go with Teyuna Tours to the lost city. From the communication before, the pickup and the whole service everything was organized perfectly. A few points to highlight: - A pickup is possible without a surcharge also from other places arround (in my case Minca) - Luggage can be stored at the office during the hike - Our guides Luis and Jesus („Buffalo“) were excellent and taking very good care during the hike and made everybody feel safe. Also Luis provided a lot of infos in the evening about the history and the indigenous people of the area and shared a lot of his experiences - The kitchen team (Yulieris) did their absolute best to serve a good breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. - Our group had 10 people, the max amount seems to be 15. What you should know before doing the hike: - An intermediate level of fitness is recommended if you want to have fun - Proper hiking or trekking shoes and outdoor/sports clothing are definetely recommend (needs to be fast drying) - Accomodations are simple bunk beds (but clean and fairly new), pillows and blankets were provided. - Dietary requirements can be arranged, ideally discuss it in advance so the team can prepare for it. Overall i can recommend doing the tour to the lost city with Teyuna Tours.

Wowowow amazing trek!! We had perfect weather and very little other groups out as well. Maybe 60 people at the ruins our day. The food along the way was hit or miss. One night there was a tuna pasta that was almost inedible. But the other meals were passable. The best was the fried whole fish the first night. I would recommend bringing some snacks if you want something healthy. The tiendas sell most chips and junk candy bars. There is always water and Gatorade and beer to buy along the way so you will never need to over carry supplies in your pack. Definitely buy the banana cake on the second to last store on the first day hike. Swimming daily in the river was a life saver!!

I highly recommend booking a Lost City trek through Teyuna tours. From the communication prior to the trek all the way until dropping us at our hostel after the trek, the experience was organized and enjoyable. I had never done a multi-day trek like this, but I felt well taken care of by our guide Pedro and Interpreter Andres. They provided interesting info and personal stories along the way and took good care of us in the camps. The food and camps were better than I would have expected and had all the essentials to help you rest and recharge for the next day of the trek. We lucked out and had great weather at the beginning of February with only a little rain. Even a little rain can generate quite a bit of mud on the trail, so be prepared for the worst and look at the packing recommendations Teyuna Tours provides. The trek itself was difficult but not too challenging. There are lots of ups and downs, so the cumulative elevation change was more than I would have guessed. It’s doable for anyone in good shape, and the guides were good to accommodate people going at different speeds. The lost city itself was breathtaking. You have several hours in the city that make the long journey very rewarding. Thank you Pedro and Andres for an unforgettable experience!

I had an amazing experience doing this trek! The staff were so friendly and helpful! Despite being in the middle of the jungle we were hosted as kings. They went above and beyond to make this experience as authentic and comfortable as possible! I loved it and would highly recommend it! We had the privilege of being led by Jon who has some incredible stories to tell! Book it now! And do some fitness workout until then!

Place to learn about history. Good initiative to have school students tour people around for tips. The place needs better maintenance. Somewhere disappointing.

A must if you are in Santa Marta. The guides, while young, are knowledgeable. They will answer most questions you ask. The locations are nice and after the tour, you are allowed to check out the different locations at your own pace. The guides are not paid, but they make some well deserved money out of tips.

This last stay of Simon Bolivar is such a lovely place, well preserved over the time, the gardens are gorgeous, well located opposite to Buenavista Shopping Center, guide by history students, be aware the guide fees are not included in the entrance ticket.

Must-do visit if you are in Santa Marta and would like to learn more about Colombian history. Here is where Simon Bolivar died. The landscape is sublime and beautifully maintained. The guided tour is friendly and perfect to get all the little details about what happened at this place back in the 1800’s. A lot of tourists from cruises come here so the place is full with dancers and activities to showcase the Caribbean culture. Great family trip!

Impressive area with lots to see. A single ticket of 23,000 COP gives you access to Bolivar’s shrine, a museum, contemporary art museum, and the hacienda of Bolivar. Coffee shop could be better.

Excellent....a must for any history lovers and those who are interested in Simon Bolivar. Lovely coffee shop and gardens too

Be ready to sweat and be hot, other than that; beautiful place with a lot of history. You’ll be walking the same ground slaves walked hundreds of years ago, you can almost feel their pain. The same ground goes for the ground Simon Bolivar walked. What an experience. Easter egg: people from that time were very very short and big headed, you’ll see.

Poor maintenance old and abandoned structures. Signs are broken and sometimes warned out. Its a shame that the country's most prized founder is neglected. Its a botanical garden of weeds and nothing more. Main structure was painted and it seemed they just threw the paint because its all over the floors. Outsiders pay more than locals so be aware. Its almost the country's founding aniversary and nothing done to look its best. Shame.

Tour felt a little rushed but to be fair, I arrived near closing time. The humidity was high and the speed walking made it feel more like a light exercise than a tour. I would recommend arriving several hours before closing time, wearing comfortable breathable fabrics, as well as comfortable shoes. The space that you cover isn't that big, so you can take in the entire experience in an hour.

Good preserved buildings and monuments about the death of Simon Bolivar, however the botanical garden is not taken care and therefore looks bad. A guided tour is available and also quite good, possible in Spanish and English.

It says botanic garden, but at the end nobody explain anything about the plants or the animals in the place. You can have a guide, they are students and you give them the tip you considered fair for their work. Thay talk about the history of the house, their owners and the last day of Simón Bolivar there. I think they could have more information but is it still a good information they give.

It’s a lovely historical place, good for a quick exploration but the museum was empty/closed for reasons unknown. The grounds were a bit untidy and they had no English speaking guides at all. I do acknowledge that we are in a Spanish speaking country BUT I feel like it’s good practice to have at least one English speaking guide at tourist/historical sites like these :)

A historic place that includes a free guide with the ticket just make sure to tip them. A mix of a botanical garden, a bit of art and a tribute to the last days of the man Who was the liberator of America, Don Simon Bolívar. Make sure to wear light clothe since is Hot at least on January there is a café área where you can buy drinks and ice cream.

Totally worth the little trip outside the city, and the free guide are really nice people and very knowledgeable. The place isn’t very well maintained for being such an important site for Colombia with the monumento a la patria. Everybody should come here!

I attended Mass at 10am on Sunday. The other Mass times for Sunday are 7am, 12 noon and 5pm. There is a Saturday Mass at 5pm which I assume is a vigil Mass.

A very beautiful piece of colonial architecture, both outside and inside. I was amazed at the elegance. Maintenance is ok. Ventilation inside the church is good. Statutes are beautiful. Historically very important in not just Colombian, but also in Latin American, as the city is one of the oldest surviving cities in South America. If you are in Santa Marta, this is a must visit place. Be watchful of people asking for money.

Nice place to visit if you are close to Santa Marta or Rodadero, you can take a boat that include the transport to de aquarium and Playa blanca beach, the animals looks well cared, there are a great variety of sea animals and there is a show with the dolphins, it worth the price 👍🏼

It's a great experience if you would swim with the dolphins, and it's cheaper there's also canopy.

This aquarium is okay- don't waste your money. All the animals outside should be released into the wild. The"tanks"are way to small. There were sharks huddled on top of one another in a small confined area. The sea turtles were really pretty but seemed confined too.

This acuario was awesome. I booked a package for 110,000 pesos from pick up from where I was staying with entry to the aquarium. Then from there to playa Blanca and back to rodadero and taxi back to my place. But the best part was the dolphin show. It's a out 30 minutes long and it was really nice to see them play. You can also take pics of them for a charge. They have all sorts of fish on display. So you can expect to spend about 2 hours here just walking around.

This place is a MUST visit in Santa Marta. Great way to spend a nice day. Takes some 10 minutes on one of the boats from Chuchu Bar. Many activities are available onsite. The same boats that take you there will move you around playa blanca and inka inka beach... or you can beam yourself riding a long canopy from the aquarium. There are several fish species, huge turtles of all ages, sharks, trained dolphins and an indigenous museum full of artifacts to check out. The dolphin show was very educative, but the coolest part was being able to swim with them!.

I spent 157.000 for the Aquarium tour and playa Blanca, and it was worth it.

Excellent Acuarium. Well presented and organized. Staff is courteous and sea creatures seem to be well cared. Give yourself 4 hours for the entire experience. Beach nearby is nice too.

it's okay if you go and buy the tickets there, there's a museum, make sure to go when the dolphin show is about to start... i paid and couldn't watch the show. there's activities but you have to pay and pay and pay

Nice statue honoring El Pibe in front of the Union football stadium. You can also go for a swim in the next door public Olympic sized swimming pool.

Very cool museum with great exhibits about the history of Santa Marta and the indigenous inhabitants and their way of life. The gold ornaments and jewelry are amazingly detailed and there are more everyday and funerary artifacts too. Great place to get out of the heat of the day and best of all, it's free to enter. It is a place full of history that is going to help you to understand how native people lived before the colonization and all kind of things that happened after that. Actually if the house could talks, she'll tell you many interesting stories where she was present through the time. It's Free.

If you want to know part of the history of Santa Marta, this is the right place, visit it on a Sunday and the stillness will make you enjoy all the magic and charm of the place.

I had a truly wonderful experience at this museum. The collection of historic artifacts, especially the section dedicated to indigenous history, left me in awe. What made it even more special was how accommodating they were to my family. We were traveling with an elderly family member, and the museum staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly when providing a wheelchair at the entrance. I can’t recommend this place enough – it’s a must-visit for anyone, and it’s great for families too.

Fabulous and Free! This museum has excellent signage in English and Spanish. It’s got a diverse collection of pre-Colombian good goodies, indigenous information and sparse Simon Bolivar bits. Lovely shop attached if you’re looking for high end souvenirs and it’s housed in a magnificent space.

Free museum. It is small, with only a small room of gold artifacts. However, the museum consists of a lot more. The signs are almost all in English and Spanish.
