What a beautiful place, the beach is stunning lovely walk along seafront to the harbour , 27 degrees in May (great time too go as not crowded ) a little windy but was a lovely relief from the heat ! had such an amazing holiday rebooked for October already !! Highly recommended for a relaxing break, great food, friendly people, Portimao did not disappoint😋

Beautiful clean sandy beach. Dotted with restaurants and toilets. Well maintained board walks on the beach itself. Sun beds and umberellas are available for hire by the day. Gently sloping entry to sea.

We are here for Christmas - New Year vacation 2022-23. Most of the restaurants on the boardwalk are closed but few are open. Weather is sometimes foggy, sometimes sunny. Water too cold for me to swim but children enjoyed. Very peaceful and not crowded at all.

I read through some of the negative reviews stating it's too full, it's too much for mass tourism and that is not incorrect. There are a lot of people. There are not the most beautiful buildings in sight from the beach. But it is still a beautiful beach with some nice rock formations on the side. The beach is quite shallow in the beginning and generally the sea is calm (with exceptions obviously), which makes it suitable for children and elderly alike. There are more beautiful beaches in the area and in the world but for a mass tourism beach in a city this is very nice and relaxing.

Beautiful long and wide sandy stretch of paradise. In season, busy with sun bathers, families, young and old, out of season dog walkers, hikers, thinkers, surfers, couples, and photographers. Framed by orange cliffs, hidden caves, and ever changing ocean colour scapes, this is one of the best beaches in Europe.

Awesome beach! It’s huge so it never actually feels busy! Great boardwalk and wooden paths to get you almost all the way to the water. Seating and umbrellas are all over the place (usually free to use) and the places to eat are very good with reasonable prices for being right on the beach. We ate there multiple times on a single trip. Water is clean, beach is clean, and workers are always out to clean it up. I swear I never saw trash anywhere which is incredible to me. Needless to say, we ll be visiting this beach again 🏖️

A nice place to visit. Apparently it is quite popular among the surfers' community, to which I do not belong. Still, the place is beautiful, the beach is huge and impressive but I guess the water temperature is on the low side. There is a small church worth visiting and a few places to eat.

This is a huge beach with a large number of beachside restaurant/cafés, some of which are open in low season. Difficult to park and access to beach requires many steps. Fantastic boardwalk for walking along beach without getting sandy.

Our tour was conducted by Captain Mauro and Guide Andre. Took just under two hours but was a great tour with various caves and beaches being explained. Boat ride was comfortable and you could tell that care was being taken to minimise any bumps or waves where possible. Would happily recommend.

Our Benagil Cave Tour was absolutely amazing and so were our guides. It was really fun and great experience, also really good organized and everything on time. Captain and guide were both experienced so we felt safe and comfortable during whole tour, they also provided us informations and fun facts about places we were seeing, we stopped at several caves and rock formations and at the end in the Benagil cave and Marinha beach, at each stop there was enough time to take pictures, captain always turned the ship around so everyone has a great view from each sides. We really recommend this tour and choosing this company.

What an amazing experience. Two hours of mind-blowing views - from caves, coves and beaches to breathtaking coastline and marine life. The boat was fast, secure and small enough to get into those small coves. My bum was a bit numb towards the end but it was a small price to pay for such unique views and such knowledgeable and fun guides (the captain and the actual guide). We did it on a sunny December day and it was gorgeous, would love to do it again in the summer - and hopefully see the dolphins too.

We had a great time. The staff was so helpful and welcoming. We did have a problem when we tried to buy water at the little shop before we left. We didn’t take cash with us and the store did not accept bank cards. One of the staff bought me a bottle of water. Problem solved. The boat was comfortable and the scenery spectacular.

Trip highlight for us! So accommodating with our toddler and the views were incredible. Tour was a perfect length of time, and the staff often checked on how everyone on the boat was doing. The ride was super smooth. Make sure to bring water and sunscreen!

Brought my family on this boat tour so we could have some adventure, and it didn't disappoint. We took a journey to multiple different caves and sights around the Algarve coast. Our guide Andre was great, giving us details about every single cave. My wife and two daughters loved it and we would definitely recommend the experience.

Lovely tour of Benagil cave tour from Portimao plus a few more caves. The tour lasted two hours. The staff was fun and friendly and they showed us some beautiful spots and caves. The tour was conducted in English, Spanish and French language and the staff was: informative, entertaining and fun! Definitely a 5/5 and would definitely recommend.

Definitely recommend this trip, we got to see lots of caves and various beaches. Brought you to all the caves and even allows you to stop for a swim. Best boat tour and worth every second ! Please book the tour directly through their website, they offered a better price compared to other platform. They were running whole day from 9 to 5, we booked the earliest slot at 9’o clock, which proved to be the right choice to avoid the crowds. Please be there on time and bring your sunscreen and sunglasses with you. They have two staff on the boat, one is the guide who will explain everything in both Portuguese and English and the other guy is the captain. The entire tour took around 2h which covered all the famous caves and beaches along the coastline, exceptionally beautiful, stunning !!! I only post a few that we took from the boat, please come here and see for yourself. You can contact the staff through WhatsApp the day before for any questions you might have. They are quite friendly and helpful to the international travelers like us. Our Viator boat tour using the Algarve Discovery company to take us to the Benagil and Marinha Caves tour was EXCELLENT Our Captain Pedro had such precision at the helm, maneuvering us into tight caves and around rock formations with ease! Gabriel, our tour guide, had interesting facts to tell and a great sense of humor as we followed along the coast poking in and out of coves and caves! They both made a fantastic team! Everyone on the boat head a terrific time!

I booked the cave tour for 2 adults and 2 children. The whole experience was absolutely amazing, from start to finish! Booking was easy, and the follow up emails came through quickly and had all the information needed, even providing a link directly to the directions for the meeting place. When we arrived, we were greeted by a lady (didn't get her name) who was lovely, and explained where we would be departing from. We were then escorted to our boat where we were met by Mario (captain) and Andre (guide). All the safety guidelines were explained clearly and life jackets provided. The tour was delivered with lots of humour and was very informative. The views were absolutely stunning, and the caves were beautiful. I would 100% recommend this trip to everyone. It is definitely worth the money.

My family and I went on the tour along the coast and was absolutely blown away by the sights amazing little hidden beaches and our guides were brilliant and very friendly and knowledgeable and the history my youngest was feeling a little unwell and our guide said we could stop if needed but luckily she started to feel better thank you Gabriel and mauro you are the best.

We had a fabulous afternoon with our guide Andre. He was very knowledgeable and shared lots of information. Mario was an excellent captain and took is into many of the caves. Such a wonderful tour.

The Subnauta team is nice. But the dives were horrible. You can't see 2 meters ahead! We dove to 2 different ship wrecks. You can only see what close enough to touch so we couldn't see the ships at all. You have to keep up with the guild because the viability is so horrible so you barely look around. Especially if there are currents. So we did not enjoy the dives at all. It's like diving in milk. I wouldn't recommend diving in this area at all. It's a waste of time and money. On the plus side the Subnauta has a nice facility and good quality equipment that is suitable for the cold water of the Atlantic.

This was one of my best diving experience which I ever had. The equipment was like new, excellent condition, boat was great and safe. The instructors Estelle and Paul, have a huge experience, perfect English language and they are so helpful. Their knowledge is huge, and they teach great. The center it self is modern, clean and very good prepare for everyone. They have got a lockers with key, clean and big showers with hot water, funny but when you diving in cold ocean, hot shower after is this what you need. Store is very good equipped and advice from Paul is always good. Diving site, WOoooow!! I was diving inside two ships wrecks. Nothing else to say WOOOOOOOW 5+ is not enough.

Great service, very nice people and well organized. Subnauta has a shop with diving equipment and organizes dive tours and dive courses. You can rent all equipment you need there. The dives are well coordinated, and they transfer all the equipment on board of the boat. Between dives they serve a small lunch and water. After the dive you can shower at the premises with fresh towels provided. Perfect diving centre!

One of the better dive shops I have been in. Staff was great, helpful and very excited their wreck locations. The locker room had HOT WATER for showers and lockers that locked. Briefings (went on two wreck dives) were very detailed and done in the shop by the dive master with AV backup.

Total VIP service ! Renato and his team are friendly, knowledgeable and the whole concept is well thought out. Most people go to Subnauta to experience the Ocean Revival project - 4 portuguese Navy ships sunk on purpose to create artificial reefs. These dives are for AOWD with some previous experience. This is not a dive in a tropical sea : visibility is low, there is some current and the water is cold (14 degrees Celsius) even in the summer. But it is still worth doing. So much so that our family is looking forward to the next time with Renato. Once you are inside the wrecks, visibility improves and , as long as you don't have a novice diver in your group kicking up sediments, will remain reasonable enough to let you clearly see the interior of each wreck. Not too many fish, certainly nothing big or unusual, you come here for wreck penetration..the exteriors are great as well, on the biggest ship there is still a cannon of considerable size, but it's the interiors that are more interesting..bare in mind that the largest of the 4 wrecks is well over 100 meters long, it's easy to see why you need to do a few dives in order to just get an idea of it all. The dives are usually double, with surface intervals to get rid of the nitrogen. Renatos crew takes care of changing the bottles and provides you with a snack - sandwich, sweet, water and coffee/tea. You only need to mount your equipment in the center, from there on everything is taken care of : the team moves the equipment to and from the boat, etc.. The changing rooms and showers are great - gel, towels, everything is there. This service aspect is totally different from what you can expect at Divers Cape in Sagres, for example (read other review)..not better or worse, just 180 degrees different. If you have never had the chance to dive on the Algarve before, be prepared for a "culture shock" . Our family absolutely loves wreck dives and this dive center will not disappoint you if wrecks are your thing too. Just don't expect tropical temperatures or visibility... Personally I can't wait to return in a couple of years.

Dived the frigate and the corvette with Renato and his team from Subnauta mid May - the water was chilly, but a great experience. The club is about as smart as they get - fully equipped for nitrox, sidemount, recyclers, the works and using aqualung 7mm semi-drys for us tourists. We arrived in the morning and they'd already prepared BCD, cylinders and regs. Totally professional and great fun. Just wish I'd taken a dry suit or gone in the summer!

Great place, lovely cocktails, good crowd and been around a very long time. The location is a bit random but that actually adds to the place and enjoyment of it, set amongst a real local crowd and community.

Drinks are fab, cheaper than other places in Praia da Rocha and definitely stronger. The two fellas who run the bar are really friendly. If you find the F restaurant on the main strip the bar is down the commercial shopping alley opposite. My only gripe is no toilet seat in the ladies! Been like it 3 years. 😂

What can I say! In a dying resort, this bar, which is hidden away from the strip is THE best bar in Praia da Rocha! The number one thing that strikes me about this place unlike other bars in Praia da Rocha is that it is clean! The toilets are kept spotless and there is no nasty smell from them that lingeres around the whole place. The drinks are fab and cheap. The design of this place is lovely. I love the designs on the walls. Happy hour is brilliant, a pint of Super Bock for 1.50€. The guy at the bar Daniel is sound! Very positive and cheerful. I will say that this bar is what made me enjoy my holiday the most! I would return to Praia da Rocha again solely to visit this place again! One shot to try is the danger shot only €2 but wise investment! Would recommend 100 percent!

Just got back from an awesome morning SUP tour with Carlos. We were 3 complete beginners and had never been on a paddleboard before. Carlos is a great teacher and I wasn't long before we were all happily paddling along. The places we visited were beautiful. Such a fantastic tour.

Rented surfboard for 3 days , very good and friendly service. Quality boards, all sizes and levels available. Close acces to the beach. Nice shop, also in addition there is a nice pokebowl bar that comes with the shop. Would recommend, and would return if i ever come back to portimao

This place was a food highlight for me and my boyfriend while staying in playa da Rocha. Excellent coffee (we're a bit a bit spoiled with the quality of coffee shops in London). Amazing and fresh poke!!! that comes in super big portions :)

The owners and the all staff are amazing!! 💪🏻💪🏻 This is what we should call a FAMILY BUSINESS” Have done a SUP tour with Carlos and definitely we can tell he is an expert, he thought about everything (whether, teaching, photos and fun) On the way back to the shop we realised they have a nice coffe bar at the front, where we got breakfast, the nicest homemade granola and yogurt. Carlos wife was at the surf-shop and she helped us with our shopping. Also you can have an healthy poke bowl with fresh ingredients. Definitely worth it to try. Thomas & Monica

Carlos is great! Very friendly great customer service. I left a used board at his shop for him to sell for me on consignment. He was able to sell my board at a fair price, and sent me the money right away. I would recommend and trust this shop if you need the same.

Carlos and his wife run an wonderful small surfshop and surf school close to the surf beach. So you can just grab a board and suit and be in the waves in zwei minutes. They are super nice, helped my wife and me to find out which boards to take for the conditions and described which places at the beach would be best to catch and what the be cautious for (which is not much, just a small current close to the pear). So, you should definitely check out this place! P.S.: In the surf shop there is a café and restaurant where you can grab an amazing coffee and enjoy a great poké bowl after your session :-)

We had a lovely lunch at the shop. Poke bowl and açaí bowl. Very friendly and cool staff. Outstanding service Loved it.

We rented a couple of paddleboards and Carlos was really helpful explaining how everything worked, and even gave us a quick lesson. Prices are also very competitive and the bowls from their poke place next door are quite delicious as well (especially after a half a day of paddleboarding).

We went on the caves and dolphin tour today and it was amazing, worth every penny. The guides were friendly and fun, they really took their time to show you all the caves and the dolphins. Thanks for a brilliant trip!

We had a combined tour of dolphin watching for 1 n half hour followed by 1 n half hour of caves. We started with the dolphins watching, the captain was a bit rude while assigning seats to us in the boat. He said that because we were an odd number of people, we could not sit in the front, only even number of people were allowed there. While there may have been some logic, the way he denied us was extremely rude. While dolphin watching we spent nearly 1 hour 20 minutes searching for it, and only spent 10 minutes watching them. And they were also quite far away from us. We actually saw the other boats watching dolphins at one place when we started the tour, but the captain did not stop there and went further. We thought he had a better place on this radar were we could spot more dolphins closer to us, but we went 7 miles into the deep ocean to find nothing and came back to the original place where we had seen the other boats before. We had only 10 minutes to see the dolphins by then. We were not allowed to stay for more time because we were getting late for the next tour. When asked why we didnt stop earlier at this place, the captain said that he didn’t see that the dolphins were there and that we should have told him that we saw them. The captain argued that his radar showed the other place. We were very disappointed with the dolphin watching experience. The rude captain did not help either. After that we went on the caves tour, it was satisfactory, the lady with the captain explained about each cave briefly which was nice to know. We saw most caves from outside, we only went inside 2 or 3 caves. There were other boats going inside the other caves, but we didn’t. We were expecting to go inside a few more caves at least. Would really appreciate if the captain could be a little polite while communicating his views, and more time is spent watching the dolphins and going inside the caves.

I booked our 1 1/2 hour tour through the sales agent Mario pertaining to a tour of the Algarve caves in a rib boat out of Portimão. The cost of the tour was €30 per person and well worth it. The two gentleman that ran the tour were professional and spoke both Portuguese and English for the group of 12 passengers. If you want a nice and professional tour of the caves book with this company.

Amazing tour- staff super friendly, all safety measures and an amazing way to spend your day in Algarve. I’ve had boat tours with other companies but I have to say none compares to the services of SeaDolphins. They offer a complete tour with historic and fun facts about the caves visited. Definitely recommend and will come back to do another tour. 10/10.

Before we bought our tickets ( 30€ for 1hour of boat (expensive when we compare with the other compagnies), they told us that we were going to be able to swim, get out of the boat to go inside of the Benagil cave. So we decided to do this activity with them and they were very convincing. When we got there in the boat, they told us that it was forbidden to go on the sand of the Benagil cave, to swim etc. We were very mad about this situation because we only stop for 4-5 minutes to take pictures very far from the cave. I have MANY friend that got in the cave, they took picture on the sand and they swam in the cave with the other compagny. DON’T BOOK your activities with SeaDophins !!!! It’s very disapointing

Highly recommend this company’s tours. This company came recommended by a guide in Lisbon. They were very helpful to answer all of my questions before the tour. We did the extended tour with dolphin watching. The driver and guide took the time to find dolphins and told us so much about them. The caves were also very beautiful, and our guide told us information about many of them. This is definitely highlight of our trip.

We booked two trips: 1st dolphin watching and second coast trip and caves watching. A really good package for a super price! And the guides was really very kindly and helpfully. Great company! They like really her jobs! We saw a lot of amazing dolphins after a very fast drive over the ocean. They give windbreaker jacket and also for the kids because on the ocean it's most time windy and cill. The secobd trip on a other day was the trip cave of benagil. On the way to them, they show a lot of other beautiful caves. It was amazing! Absolute good trip with the fastet boat! Great! Try it! Thanks guys for this adventures!

We booked our trip pretty spontaneously via TripAdvisor on Thursday evening for the next day. Once we arrived at the kiosk we were greeted very friendly and got our ticket as well as a 10% voucher for a local snack bar. We were six people and got a boat to ourselves (maximum would be 12 people). Wind breakers are provided on the boat if necessary, because the wind can get pretty cold. There is of course no guarantee for seeing dolphins, however the boat ride itself is already pretty fun. We were lucky and found a pod of dolphins after about 20 minutes. There was one other boat that quickly left, so it was just us and about 10 - 15 dolphins. We took our time watching them and the crew provided us with a lot of interesting and fun facts. After a while we turned and watched the dolphins as they played in the waves caused by our boat. Would definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience. We booked on the dolphin tour but the first thing we encountered was a pod of orca which was a lovely surprise. We later saw the dolphins alongside the boat, amazing to see them so close. Totally beautiful and magical experience. All staff knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended

Very nice boat trip to Silves along the Arade river. Time to spend in the old town of Silves. Thanks to the guide who did everything to make us feel at home. We had some rain on the way back, but all the nice views, story's and birds were absolutely amazing.

We chartered the sun boat privately for a birthday. Riccardo was very helpful and creative in setting up a really nice menu. He provided snorkelling sets for 12 people and we even could bring our stand-up paddle. The service was excellent and enjoyed our trip on the sustainable (solar) boat. Thank you very much. What a superb afternoon. Boarded boat at Portimao, we were four of a total of about a dozen. Set off up the River Arade about 12.30, immediately served a drink (choice of wine, beer or a soft drink). The wildlife along the river was beautiful and the scenery superb. It wasn't long before a lovely lunch was being served. Starters were a choice of a tuna dip and a spicy sausage. This was followed by a good salad followed by piri piri chicken. The desert was orange slices sprinkled with cinnamon. The quality was very good and the portions generous. Drinks were served with the meal. Our host, Carlos, was both informative and funny and it seemed no time at all had passed before we pulled in at Silves for 2 hours to explore this beautiful little town. The steep walk up the castle was well worth the views. If you've not visited here before it's well worth it. All too soon it was back to meet at the boat for the trip back to Portimao. Drinks were served again on the way back with little cakes. The best excursion I've taken in 10 years of visiting the Algarve, it was also the best value trip I've taken. This boat tour is one of a kind. I did the sunset tour and it was just perfect. Ines is so informed on Lisboa’s history and landscape, with great architectural knowledge also, helping make this a truly informative tour.. as well as leaving enough room for gentle getting to know one another on the tour and private moments too. The really well thought out touches from the excellent choice of wine and snacks, to offering to take photos of each couple or group at prime photo spots - really just brings the whole tour together. Oceanscape gave us the best tour of the Algarve caves that we could have possibly imagined. The guides were super friendly, the boat new and super comfortable, the tour wasn't crowded, and the experience we had simply could not have been better. I totally recommend them as they leave early (or later for sunsets) and bring you to locations that are just dreamy! There's time for a quick swim, plenty of picture opportunities... it just doen't get any better. One look at their stand, instagram profile or website will show you how thought-out and different this tour company is. You just cant go wrong with them.

We had an exceptional experience enjoying the sunset in Lisbon. We got great local insight, a bit of history and a personal experience in addition to stunning views. Some people had sayd to as that they leaved !But they told us 15:00 and we were there at 14:30 and they told us in 15mins .so we can go at 15:00. My recent visit to Rock Sport Bar left me feeling disheartened and disgusted due to the prevailing discrimination I encountered. As a customer seeking an enjoyable sports-watching experience, I was met with an atmosphere of exclusion and bias that completely overshadowed any potential enjoyment. From the moment I entered the establishment, it became apparent that certain patrons were being treated differently based on their race, gender, and/or other discriminatory factors. The staff members displayed a noticeable lack of professionalism and respect, catering to a select few while neglecting the needs of others. It was evident that this discriminatory behavior was condoned and perhaps even encouraged within the establishment's culture. As I tried to find a suitable spot to watch the game, I noticed how some customers were provided with prompt service, preferential seating, and extra attention, while others, including myself, were overlooked and ignored. It was deeply disheartening to witness such blatant inequality in a supposedly inclusive and welcoming environment. Additionally, the language and derogatory remarks exchanged by both staff and certain customers were utterly offensive. The derogatory slurs and racially insensitive comments being thrown around openly were not only distressing but completely unacceptable. A sports bar should be a place for camaraderie and shared enthusiasm, not a platform for hate speech and discrimination. The management's lack of intervention and failure to address these issues only amplified the problem. When I approached a staff member to express my concerns, my complaints were met with indifference and brushed off as insignificant. It was clear that my grievances were not being taken seriously, further solidifying the fact that discrimination was deeply ingrained in the establishment's

Unfortunately we should have listened to most of the reviews. The food is overpriced for what it is. 6 tiny chicken wings with nothing else for 9€ which wasn't good. The quesadillas were ok, but nothing specials. The lady serving us polite enough, atmosphere was OK, lovely view of the ocean which was a plus :)

Just had massage in Sabai not happy , I asked for my shoulders and neck especially my right side as that is where I have a lot of muscle spasm and problems to be concentrated on most , totally avoided my neck and shoulders worked on my legs and spent most of the hour fixing and folding the cloth under me, I always go to Sabai when I come to Praia da Rocha and would have two massages done during my 10 day stay when they were beside the celt and highly recommended Yupin always felt great when I left , but the lady I had today was not good and feel no difference , will be look for new Thai massage when I visit Praia da rocha in September
