I just got certified a week ago and this boat was recommended by my instructor. I was the only new diver on the boat, but the guide gave me extra attention to make sure I was safe and comfortable, and she went above and beyond to help me improve my skills and to show me cool fish. Everyone was extremely supportive. The crew is incredible, anticipating your every need. The rooms were comfy. The food was plentiful. I hope to return and dive with them again one day!

My first live aboard trip and it was fantastic! The boat is comfortable, there is a much appreciated photo room and the food was good. I am especially grateful for the vegetarian choices! Franck and the team put a lot of thought into the itinerary and for being back to Myanmar after 3 years of covid pause, it was really exciting. The spontaneous trips to land (beach and temple landing) was a great surprise and the guests loved it. The ship crew consisted of the friendliest and most attentive people I’ve met in a long time. They are a very big part of making the trip exceptional! The only thing which did not live up to the expectations was our Dive Guide. Sadly the only person on the boat, who had a hard time returning a smile and who wasn’t very engaging in the dives. That opinion was shared by his whole group and sadly took away joy from the experience. There was also a questionable decision in taking one claustrophobic diver (who mentioned his concerns beforehand) into an actual very narrow cave. Other than that a fantastic trip I can recommend to anyone!

Went on my first liveaboard to the Surin & Similan islands with the Smiling Seahorse in October 2021. I had an amazing time with Franck, Cami, the crew and other passengers! All of the dive guides are super knowledgeable of the dive sites, respectful of marine life, and simply fun to be around (special shout-out to my girl It!). The boat is well-equipped, comfortable and has plenty of space to relax and hang with other divers. 10/10 you need to take this trip!

I’m so happy to have done my first live aboard with Franck and Camille on the Smiling Seahorse! Each dive was unique and spectacular, and I particularly enjoyed the sunset and black water dives. As an aspiring underwater photographer, I greatly appreciated Franck’s advice and critique —there is no one better suited than him to help me get the best underwater shots! I also appreciated having a dedicated space on board to set up and store my camera gear. I dove in a group of four with P’It as our lead. She was an amazing guide with awesome, hand-drawn graphics of each dive site. The dive deck was well-equipt and spacious, with a wonderful boat crew to assist as needed. This was my first time diving in the Andaman, but I will definitely be back! I set sail with The Smiling Seahorse on a 5 day / 4 night North Andaman Trip from February 28 to March 3rd, 2024. For context, I am an Advanced PADI diver with 30 lifetime dives before I boarded the boat. This was my first liveaboard experience and I was accompanied by four friends who I had dived with previously in Dubai and four other divers. My only understanding of what to expect was from watching a few nice YouTube videos from The Smiling Seahorse’s channel, but that was theoretical. It was time to finally experience the live-aboard life in person. Let’s start with the boat - The Smiling Seahorse (TSS) is 25m long, custom-built craft with 8 rooms that divers can either share or occupy individually. There are three levels - a lower deck with rooms, chef’s kitchen and dive equipment where divers can jump on a Zodiac and head to their drop off points; a main deck with the captain’s quarters at the help, more rooms, a main gathering area where all meals are had and briefings delivered, and finally, a sundeck to relax and enjoy the incredible views of the Andaman Sea, many islands and more. TSS is owned by a French couple Frank and Camille Fogarolo who have run this live-aboard for 12 years. While Camille was present to greet us when we arrived and ensure that we settled in smoothly, Frank was with us for the entire trip. Tall and lean, Frank is a veteran diver who runs a professional operation. His first briefing was the main one. It was both comprehensive and detailed and covered our plan plus do’s and don’t on the boats and in the water. Frank then introduced us to his team of dive pros — Velika (from Switzerland), James (England), Min (Thailand) and Mici (Hungary) — each with 2,000+ dives. We were divided into smaller groups with one of these pros as our group leads. The rest of the staff, all Thai, included the captain, chef and crew who looked after us and the boat from end to end. Unfortunately for me, I caught a bad throat infection a day after arriving in Thailand, so I could only make 7 out of 14 total dives on this trip, but all said and done, those dives were great. The visibility was amazing on almost every dive, with understandably the least on the sunset dive at Richelieu Rock. They really save the best for last because the marine life at Richelieu Rock was extraordinary. While going in and out of chilly thermoclines, I swam through tornados of barracuda, swarms of tiny sliversides, countless fusiliers, waves of long, slim cornetfish, mixed hordes of trevally and Smalltooth Emperors. It was stunning. I am so grateful for Velika who led me through my first three dives at the amazing Similan Islands and then for James who I dived with at the brilliant Richelieu Rock. Velika was kind, patient and caring. James gave me tips on how to better equalize the pressure in my ears as I was having trouble with that. Both had a deep understanding of our dive locations. On our last day, I sat with James for an hour and he helped me identify all the marine life we saw - ghost pipefish, box fish, trevally, cornetfish and many more. I feel a lot more educated now. I gained both knowledge and experience from Velika and James and really glad that our paths crossed. The food on board included breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between. The cuisine included Thai and Italian with a barbecue surprise on our last night. There were more options for non-vegetarians (including chicken, pork and lamb) than for vegetarians, but enough to get by. Meals were mostly stir-fried or deep-fried and served with rice. Spice levels varied from spice-free to really hot, so we definitely had range. Breakfast cereals, tea, coffee, soy-milk as the alternative for regular milk, beers, wine, crisps, juice and soft drinks were all on board and fueled us from dive to dive. This was such a great trip. The TSS experience and team were wonderful and I would happily recommend them to anyone considering a liveaboard in Thailand. I could not make the second trip to Myanmar with them but I look forward to that the next time.

Frank the owner of the boat, a tall, French, fish loving guide, friend, and entertainer who walks around like the Thai fishermen wearing local clothes and a winter hat to keep the wind out of his ears, along with the crew gave a trip of a lifetime. Frank jumps in the water each day along with the divers purely because he loves diving and taking AMAZING pictures. He sat and talked to me about remedial camera skills, settings, and technique to take the best pictures even though his level of photographing is light years beyond what I’m doing. He is genuine, kind, insightful, and informative. You can tell that Frank loves being on the boat being with the divers, making friends and because of that you get treated like his friend from the food he plans like the barbecue night with massive ribs, chicken, and potatoes and opening some rum for everyone to enjoy (at no cost) as the music plays and people let their hair down. Then the final meal was mouth-watering steak, with pasta, and delicious veggies in a cream sauce. When you are treated like the owners good friend on the boat, you get the best of everything. Taking a trip on the Smiling Seahorse to me is like feeling that I should have had to pay more for the trip that I actually did. I love to get the best deal, even if that means having to put up with some not so nice things. This trip I feel like I got so much more than what I paid for. I cannot say enough about this trip. I’m sad it had to end and now any other live-aboard I go on in the future will have a very, very high bar. Thanks Frank and the team!

Smiling Seahorse This was our first liveaboard diving trip so we have nothing to compare this with, however, I can honestly say that our expectations were more than exceeded in every respect. The Smiling Seahorse operation is superbly run and managed by its owner Franck, an extremely personable individual and diving enthusiast, who goes to great lengths to ensure that no detail of your stay onboard is overlooked. After being swiftly administered on arrival, Franck then delivered a welcome address to all passengers to explain how the boat functions, where everything was and then introduced all of his staff, from the captain and diving instructors to the chefs and general assistants. This was a great touch and showed how invested he is in his crew and for us to meet each and every one of the staff onboard. We were assigned our diving instructor (Mici) and dived with another couple of similar experience for the duration of the trip. Mici went to great lengths to put us at ease and explained every step of each dive we undertook but made absolutely clear that safety was her primary concern throughout. We undertook our PADI AOW qualification whilst diving and this was seamlessly integrated in to our diving programme. Some of the dives were quite challenging due to varying currents and invariably plans had to be changed underwater to reflect the conditions but at all times she had the whole group’s welfare and safety in mind. On all of the dives, the pace at which we covered the terrain was excellent and she was always attentive and keen to point out the abundant wildlife. The diving itself was varied, with Richelieu Rock providing the most spectacular array of sea life, from huge shoals of Trevally and Barracuda to amazing fan corals to name but a few. Visibility wasn’t always great and at times the currents were strong but we viewed this as positive learning and we always managed to see some incredible sights. The food onboard was simply outstanding! We are vegetarians and the chefs went to great lengths to ensure that we had an appropriate choice for each meal - the food was largely Thai inspired and was truly delicious. On one evening they even prepared a BBQ on the sun deck and this was preceded by some delicious rum cocktails, which went down very well! At various intervals Franck would make announcements to ensure all were informed or (as a keen underwater photographer) brief us on other aspects of diving (black water diving), which was offered as an additional activity. Despite the broad international makeup of the guests onboard, all were made to feel part of the ‘family’ and we made some great acquaintances during our trip. Overall, Franck’s outstanding leadership of the Smiling Seahorse and attention to detail is what made this trip so successful and enjoyable for all concerned. We would thoroughly recommend to anyone considering a live aboard and will undoubtedly be back again.

My time aboard the Smiling Seahorse was nothing short of amazing 🤩The ship itself was clean and spacious, with lots of comfortable places to relax after each dive. My team's guide, P'It, was knowledgeable and friendly, with a keen eye for finding the tiniest of creatures. Everything on the boat was done efficiently - the only thing you need to worry about as a diver is eating, sleeping and diving 😉 Franck and Camille are kind and compassionate hosts with an abundant knowledge of diving the Andaman (and some seriously impressive photography skills!!) All other boat crew were equally helpful and kind. I'm already looking forward to my next trip ;)

Amazing locations but underwhelming liveaboard. This was my third time diving liveaboard in Similan Islands, each with different boats. The Smiling Seahorse is bottom of the list so far. The staffs were great and the dive sites were awesome, but i believe the quality of food and room is equally important for the liveaboard. The food wasn't so good, salty and too simple. The room in the front smelled like gas. The dive master seemed to have difficulty. He ran out of air before anyone else in the team within 45 minutes.

On a friend's suggestions I for a liveabord in the Andaman Sea I booked my trip in November on the Smiling Seahorse. Chatting back and forth with the staff to organize the booking itself and various transfers was prompt and efficient and I arrived onboard without any complications. The ship's layout has enough space so that it doesn't feel cramped, and the sundeck as well as the cushion area at the back of the boat were made good use of by everyone between and after dives. The diving was very enjoyable with a large variety of creatures to see and very varied topography underwater which was highly impressive. A special mention goes out to the black water dive which is truly amazing and opens your eyes to things that swim around the ocean but are usually not seen. The staff on board was very attentive and forthcoming. The cooks prepared various delicious meals while the supporting staff made sure to aid people as needed when gearing up and getting back from their dives. The dive briefings were given by the individual dive guides, all of which did an amazing job at adjusting the diving to the guest's preferences, be that for the type of diving, difficulty of the dive, or special creatures to see. Finally, James being in charge of everything made sure everything went smoothly using his particular sense of humor.

Frank, Camille, and the entire crew provided an an awesome 4D/4N diving experience through the Surin and other north of Similan islands. The boat was nice, the food was very good and plentiful (not something we expected going in), and the dive sites they chose were excellent - we even spotted a whale shark! Itt was our dive guide and she so much fun to dive with. This was our first liveaboard trip and they made it very easy for us. We were very impressed with how organized everything was and also appreciated their flexibility in changing up the schedule to make sure we had the most enjoyable dives. We highly recommend them and would happily come back.

A very very close walk from the packing lot, water is so clear and cold and refreshing you can swim here or just sit around on the rock. It have both shallow and deep spot. A nice place to both stop and take a picture and go or spend hours in the water.

Us usual foreign tourists have to pay 100B to visit. However this waterfall can be visible before entry gates. Medium attraction, not much powerful waterfall during dry season. Pay 100B just to walk 20m it's not worth. Local people come with water tanks to collect water probably free of charge. Free toilets in area is a plus.

Amazing natural hot springs in Ranong. I have been here many times in many years since it was free of charge for entering. Still insisting here is the best hot springs around this area in overall aspects. Clean mineral water with proper temperature and plenty of pools. Services during Covid-19 period were also well monitored.

Perfect spot to break away if you need alone time for meditation and to center yourself. Hot springs with different temperatures. One of the must return to spots. Wonderful staff and very well kept clean spots.

Outstanding day of fun... Go early the hot spring pools are closed at 2 pm! There are about 5 dedicated pools all about 41 degrees (equivalent to a very hot bath). To cool down you have the very cool river with swimming areas, and loads of fish that nibble on your feet. Well kept park... 100 Baht for foreigner to enter plus small amount per vehicle. All round excellent value and well worth the trip.

A nice place with thermal springs of hot water and a small river in the same place to swim a bit in the cold water and chill your body after the hot springs. Activity for about 2 hours (we didn't find the waterfall that is alegibly nearby). No food is sold inside. Some come with a bathing suit and some with regular clothes and just go in, so do what you like. There are toilets and a changing area on site. Children can go inside the hot pools. The entrance fees are found in one of the pictures I shared (please note the additional car charges) and an annoying ADDITIONAL small fee is taken inside for using the hot springs. 20 baht for adults and 10 for children.

I think it's the best hot spring in ranong. Currently being improved with some work going on around the site. Several pools at different temperatures makes for a great experience when you can choose your temperature, and the stream that runs thru is a nice change. Change rooms and showers and washrooms are clean and well maintained. After the park entrance fee there is an additional small fee for the hot springs which they really should abolish and wrap into the park price. Of course, the insulting foreigner fee too.

This area is a part of national park, small entrance fee is charged. No food or drink allowed at the hot spring area. This is good to keep the park clean. 5-6 pools are located around the park with different temperature. The outdoor shower is right next to the pool. No need for swimsuit when soaking, just be like locals by wearing T-shirt and shorts. Small canal runs through the center of the park and keeps cool climate. Coffee, ice-creme and souvenir shops are there at the entrance.

I visited during the summer time but early morning still suitable for hot spring, cool surrounding. This hot springs is located within the National Park which so well organized. My next trip will surely reserved the room right by the creek for 900 bath per night for air conditioning room. Contact the Ponrang hot springs national park Ranong.

Clean open air hot spring. Size is quite small. The hot pond is close to cool natural stream all in the green area of lightly forestry. Temperatures is around 40 degree Celsius which is perfectly good for soaking and relaxing.

Good service, good guiding, good food, quick response to questions. Small and personal boat, and the best... we didn't see a single diver below surface that didn't belong to our boat. Absolutely nothing to complain about.

Good small diving company. Offering liveaboard trips. Trips are from Ranong Thailand. Going to Burma coast. And south to Simulan Islands. 10 guests maximum for the trips. The owner is really organized. Very in portant to the forever changing rules to enter Burma

The nature is great, but the accessible part of the park is not worth the entry fee (100 TBH for foreigners + 20 TBH for the scooter). The only thing in the park (which appears to cover a huge area on the map) is 500m of concrete path leading up to the waterfall. That's it. The whole visit takes 10 minutes. You can actually see the waterfall better from the highway. It's virtually dried up during the dry season. There is supposed to be another trail to the waterfall through the forest (as per the map at the main office), but that's marked with "no entry/danger" signs. It's readily apparent that the signs are there cause the trail isn't maintained. The staff are friendly, but they don't speak or understand any English. I had a (Thai government-sponsored) free-entry pass, but they didn't understand what it was and made me pay anyway. The one positive is that the ticket is valid for the Ponrang Hot Springs next door (you'll still have to pay another 20 TBH for actually using the hot springs).

Definitely Rama 5th vibes! Simple but elegant. There is a room that isolated from the main house but connect with 30m. bridge and 10m. above ground. Anyway staffs are not attentive and they do close at lunch. Dont forget to visit marble Bhuddha near by.

It is a famous water falls of Ranong. It has nice scenery but it is not hard to walk and reach the view point.

A beautiful waterfall to visit in Ranong. 20 minutes by car from the city center you will see it directly from the road. It is high so you can snap some shots without entering the national park where you have to pay a fee 100 baht + 20 baht for a car parking. If you still wanna explore inside COVID rules are applied strictly here: they measure your temperature and ask to scan a code for way in and out too. Wear your mask. Inside there are social distancing reminders. No swimming due to Covid. However it’s a great place to visit without tourists. You can fully enjoy the peacefulness of the place. There are 2 tracks: natural for hikers and a concrete paved road for the rest. This is the second time I have seen so many beautiful big butterflies. The first one was in Khaen Krachan National Park. The weather in rainy season changes drastically so be prepared for short rainfalls.

Small and clean place to be. Gather around and see the fascinating falls which can be seen miles away. 20THB per person. Nice view. Built in dam for those who like to get wet. Climb up for another 350 mtr to see the falls view. Below it got small built dam where fishes diminates it. If you love to climb more to view point, please have your shoes on ya because it will be slippery. So, chill and enjoy!!!

Amazing waterfall it's so high and you can see it come right from the top of the mountain. Lovely short walk from the car park we never made the view point due to heavy rain worth a visit.

I joined their Sea World 1 liveaboard to the Similan islands and Richelieu Rock and had the most amazing experience!!! The crew were so kind and really takes care of you from start to finish, the food was delicious, and my dive master Billy was so fun and got me up to PADI AOW! Beautiful and elegant well preserved teak palace. Open 910 a.m. close on sharp time at 04:00 p.m.( not 04:30 p.m.) and also close on monday and Tuesday. There is a time schedule for a guided palace tour . Check time schedule at my picture.

Place to seeing landscape. Only spend time here about 15 minutes and you will start to get bored. The building has a fee for entrance and nothing much in there. If you are interested in historical place then you have to visit here

Makes the expensive Spa across the road looked way over-priced. We only stayed in Ranong one night but visited here twice. But would like to go back because they were updating the whole site when we were there - so it probably more modern now than these photos show. Give it a go.

The price is right, and Thai/farang are charged the same. Entry comes with a towel, and they have lockers you can use (you would need to bring or maybe rent a padlock). It's small- a few sitting areas and a few pools, but it's centrally located right next to the beautiful river, and the variance in pool temp is nice. The coolest one is like a Luke warm bath, good for the kids. The hottest one takes a second to get into and not one you should spend a long period of time in without cooling off. The showers are nice and cold and very refreshing after the sizzle. It's uniquely NOT sulphuric, so it doesn't smell and I didn't notice any jewelry change colors. Nice restaurants nearby you can watch over to after. They don't want kids splashing around and being loud- it's meant to be relaxing, so keep an eye on the little ones :) there's conveniently an outdoor public playground right next door too ;)

Magic place with very beautiful hot spring water subdivided in 4-5 different pools. Staff is very welcoming and all the services was amazing. They give you towel and swimming suits and the entry fee is 150 thv, very good price for the environment and place. Highly recommend 🙏

Went on a Friday evening and there was only us and another couple who left 30 minutes after we arrived, literally had the place to ourselves. 150 THB entry fee for adults with towels and bathing outfits (or you can bring your own bathing suits). A very nice place, the accomodation was great and i really enjoyed the pool outside the room. We were a little disappointed that the hot springs had been turned off with no prior warning to the booking. Considering that could be what travelers might be excited for. The view from the accomodation wasn't to appealing as there was a huge piece of barren land in front of the porch. A garden or some TLC to the property would make it much more pleasing to relax on the porch or in the pool.

Room is big and clean though it should be more well maintenance since there was a missing bulb light in shower room, broken pipe for the hand washing sink, and the AC need to be cleaned. And should improve the hotspring pipeline and pressure system because we've got no hot spring for every room turn on the hot spring at the same time. Why should we pay for private hot spring and do not get it when we want it then?

This place is a must visit if you are traveling nearby. Hot baths, calm and quiet environment, restaurant, pool, fish pond, basically everything you need to relax. Except maybe a cold bath. My girlfriend couldn't extend her tourist visa simply because the fact she's Chinese. I called up other immigrations in other province and even put them on the line with the manager, they tried to explain to her there was no such agreement between China and Thailand. Really quick visa extension. Straight forward, in and out under 45 minutes. Just bring passport, photocopy of passport ID page and photocopy current visa stamp, two visa photos, current hotel info & 1900 baht.
