One of the must try for beginner climbers. Camping ground already equipped with well built toilets, and surrounded with food stalls. Only took around 2 hours from basecamp to camping ground. Kids and family friendly. 8/10.

very easy trail,a lot of food stall every check point,a fun hiking adventure in Garut. what I love is the views or scenery is not homogeneous,so almost every 10 minutes the scenery changing. my recommendation route if u want something challenging for one day hike: Hike until "Post 7" up until gooberhoot-> choose the extreme route to Pondok Saladah-> continue to Hutan Mati (Deadwood) -> down to Post 7 again-> go to the crater-> back to starting point with different route. here some footage form The Crater trail to starting point.

Papandayan was the right choice for the first hike. The path that is almost flat makes it easier, even when i go last time, some people bring their kid. also their pet. You can use a porter to bring your luggage or yourself all the way to the top to lighten your walk. Papandayan have the biggest edelweiss field in southeast asia. Don't worry, there are lots of stalls at the top, more crowded than usual. its family friendly even for elder. the tropical forest and the garut’s breeze was great.

Amazing place and experience with the most nicest people, unfortunately only 4* due to the fact I, as a "bule- foreigner" I have to pay 10 times the entrance fee, moreover, there were no inscriptions in English, hope authorities will look at that.

My first time here. Its track for hiking is quite challenging, but you can use porter service to help you (note: it's quite pricey though). The scenery is awesome, although I'm not even halfway there.

First time visiting this place, its so amazing, nice view, many valleys, mountain range, white rock everywhere. One of the best mountains in indonesia. The road is rocky and a little bit hazy but its ok, better in company hiking the mountain, dont forget to take a bottle of water.

Quite far from Garut city around 2,5 hours drive, hopefully they can make the beach better with some maintenance with less smells around the beach area

The beach are good. In views and place. But It's kinda dirty in some place because of trash.

The beach is located for away from the city. The locals will say that it isnonly 30-60 minutes away but it is actually over 3 hours away from the city. The location is also pretty remote and the road goes around many mountains, hills and valleys. There are no fuel stations along the road there, no homes and barely any warungs to rest or eat at. The beach is also very dirty, clutered with so much trash and ship parts. Would not recommend the beach at all. Though, i would recommend the road from the city to the beach since it is an experience you won't get anywhere else.

It's always nice to visit here. Listen to the waves and enjoy seafood dishes. Suitable for a short break from the routine. But the choice of places to stay is very limited.

This place is so beautiful, u can see sunrise in here. And u can see and go to lighthouse on there. Also there some ruins of the history WW2. But if u looking for at least 3-Stars Hotels, u must need more effort and i never found it on there, but for another hotel u just need 300k for villa a night, and dont expect too much. For the beach, i see lot of trash on there. But when the morning u can go to market and looking for fresh fish with a good price.

The last time I visited this beach was in 2003. At that time the beach was clean. I can see beautiful fish and other tiny sea creatures. Today, the it is dirty. And there are too many people selling things there.

Santolo Beach in Garut Regency is a beach by the Indian Ocean, located some 260 kms southeast of the national capital Jakarta, 170 kms southeast of the province capital Bandung and 100 kms south of Garut City. It is a 5-6 hours driving by car from Bandung, or about 8-9 hours from Jakarta, all driving times are subject to route selection and real-time conditions. The beach itself offers very beautiful views and some pretty cool spots to take photos, photographers must love the area, which is very nice. What it lacks is adequate accommodations that comply with global standards. The guest houses are just local family-run businesses and they will offer not more than a typical room inside a typical house of the area. As this beach is very remote even if compared from the regency capital, do not expect any of the locals to speak any degree of English. Most of them only speak Indonesian and the main language of communication among the locals is the Sundanese language, which is very different from Indonesian itself. Another drawback of the remoteness is the limited network coverage of internet, even the most nationwide carrier Telkomsel only manages to provide 2G and a limited in some areas 3G/HSDPA network there. LTE connections are nonexistent. Carriers like XL still has limited connections up to 3G while others such as Indosat, 3, are completely dysfunctional. Finding something to eat isn't a big deal at all since many of the home stay providers are running canteens as well in the same unit, so getting an accomodation that is also a canteen would be a good idea. Even though, there wouldn't be a package that offers an overnight stay with a breakfast because you must purchase them separately. The food offered here will mostly consist of seafood based products since this is a coastal area while options of meat besides fish are limited to chicken. Beef is very hard to find in this vicinity. Notice is to be taken seriously since swimming in the beach is prohibited due to the high tides and rapidly appearing vortices and rigorous waves of the Indian Ocean, especially at night. Many sudden disappearances have occured due to ignoring the circumstances, most of them resulting in death due to drowning by the vortices. Overall I would recommend this beach if you're an Indonesian, but if you're an international traveller it might be quite a challenge to find the best of this place here.

The place isn't nice. First of all, the place is extremely hot. it is supposed to be one of the coldest place is Garut but it's one of the hotest. Second of all, there aren't many things to do there. Most of the activities there are related to water. Lastly, it is quite far away from the city. So after a long journey there, it wad very dissapointing. Though the view is ok.

The scenery was amazing. Facilities and pool were good. They said this place open for 24 hours. Prepare your warm clothes cos it's very cold here (for me, as I can't stand with low temperature).

Came here at 1AM in the midnight (the place is open 24 hours). In those freezing air, swimming in this natural hotspring just so perfect and refreshing, though it could feel a little too hot in the beginning. There's also a hotel just aside of the pool.

Recommended place for spending recreational time with your family in the highland of Garut.. rent the 'saung' (small gazebo) for 15k per hour, flying fox, swimming, many more..

Located in the subdistrict of Leles garut, about 5 km from Bandung-Garut protocol stad.Tempat quite unique, the temple is located in the middle of the lake / situ cangkuang. To reach the temple we can pass it by raft first. Although the temple size is very small, but make the atmosphere feels different from standing upright this temple. Very Unique.

It was a good place to escape from your hectic days. The temple situated in a small island surrounded by a lake. The Island inhabited by five households. The tiny village have a good amounts of land for farming and the entire area near the temple served as a graveyard. There's no historic record about who build up the temple. As a local heritage site the area was well preserved. You pay to pay IDR. 5000 for admission fee, IDR 5000 for raft to cross the lake (frankly speaking, you'll have to pay more) and IDR. 2000 each time you use their toilet.

It's quite unique from my point of view. Though i born and grown up in West Java, it's my 1st time visiting Cangkuan Temple. This 8th centuries Hindu site is one of very view historical site remain from that period. Sadly, the government didn't put enough restrictions in how visitors should enjoy this particular tourism spot. Children climb up to the site is my biggest concern, while the parents don't even bother to get them down even some encourage them to climb up for the sake of photograph. Pity. Another concern that i really can't get it, it is allowed to do picnic within the site (around the temple). Though reminder to keep the site clean and many trash bins provided, my personal opinion it shouldn't be. Indeed education and discipline among my beloved brothers and sisters are not equally valued, yet, government should act as the order-keeper to ensure the behaviors perform properly at such national treasure site, to keep it sustain as long as possible. I visited the site after Eid al Fitr holiday ends however school holiday starts 😅 so it was quite crowded. We need to cross over the lake of cangkuang (situ cangkuang) to reach the site but if you're an adventure seeker, there is path you can walk through to reach the site. Bring a mask, during dry season/summer, the way to reach the site is quite dusty. Crossing the lake isn't bad option specially if you come with your loved ones, can take some good shots. I reach the site from Bandung by public transport from Cicaheum Bus terminal and walked to Candi Cangkuang to enjoy the view (though many motorbike service-indonesian called it Ojek, or chariot pulled by horse-Indonesian called it Delman offered through the way) Entry fee is affordable, less than 1USD. Though when i came it was raised abit due to holiday season, still less than 1USD. The same for bamboo boat fee. The site itself was surrounded by locals cemetery and also paddy fields (not the pretty one but still refreshing to eyes when you see green field around). Toilets available outside and within the site but i didn't utilize it so can't advise it's hygiene standard. Same as many local tourism spots in Indonesia, the infrastructure to reach the site and parking facilities just super so so. I don't know even if it was up to national standards.

candi means temple. this single temple could be reached by rakit (boat made from bamboo). another exitement is the kampung (village) equpied by local people that still live traditionally. the scenery is good.

Getting better and better, from last year.. Almost Find no garbage in it, good place to learn about history and also nice places to hang out with friends & family. Love Garut!

It's a spiritual place , quite and peace in Garut. It's surrounded by lake. It need to go there by 'rakit' or kind of boat made from bamboo, There's a temple there, and a 'makam' of Eyang Panembahan Arief Muhammad from Mataram beside the temple . And also a village which called Kampung Pulo. Very interesting..

This Beach Not too popular than Pangandaran Beach but I Love this place because still natural and not too crowded. There are several Hotel choices, not star Hotel but good enough and clean. Many small Restaurant here and almost serve the same menu (Seafood). No Entertainment here so this place only for people who want relax her mind and enjoying the nature.

This beach is directly adjacent to the Indian Ocean. The sloping beach slope and the waves are not too high. And you can't swim on this beach, because the rocks are lined with lots of seaweed. But my child is happy because I can find a lot of living marine life such as small crabs, small sea stars, fish between the rocks. 🐙🐠

Beautiful place, surrounded by flowers, my second stay in here. The garden was maintained well from the first visit. Improvement for having restaurant now. Breakfast are ok for me. The rooms are in houses made from woods. Bathroom has hot shower. There was also playground at the hill on the backside corner of the garden. Interesting to my family we saw trees that looks like couple hold each other and grow big, I believe the age also quite old.

This is the true hidden gem. I didn't expect this place to be this PERFECT at first. Once you get to stay the night and you'll figure out yourselves. Try taking a morning walk and explore the while area. You won't regret. Have kids? This place got a really nice playground with an outstanding view! 10/10!

visited the garden instead of the hotel. ambience super serene. took a few naps on grass as it is so nice. air is breezy, cicadas sounds playing on background, water shimmers from fountains. roses smell nice, the rose ice cream taste nice. ducks are funny and there are group of doves flying. not romantizing it, but it is indeed nice to have a picnic or simply to stroll within the park area.

I stayed in Damascena Room 6, will definitely come here again. The room price around 500K but very satisfying. The bedroom is spacious, the price included breakfast and afternoon tea. The food is delicious and the most important is you have full access to their flower garden which is very beautiful. It's recommended place to have a short getaway from Jakarta

The place is combination of flowers garden, restaurant, store and villa. Really love the place, the ambiance, the landscape. One thing that is need to be provided here is the name of each flowers and plants, so we also gain knowledge and can be part of educational spot for students as well. Havent tried the villa, will try it soon 😁

There's a flower garden, maze and a MASSIVE field filled with unique plants everywhere. They also have a few massive spider pets which is unique. The hotels are amazing and good value. However, the service in the restaurant is horrible, the servant wasn't friendly at all. However, everything else is amazing, unique and good value.

Unplanned visit in the morning..was in awe with the beauty and serenity of this place... came backnthere again after lunch bringing 20 other family member..and we did family photos there... We love this hidden gem... Everything was well maintain..all the flowerplants are very well taken care of. The tree house was a hit with our young kids... Everything is perfect. EXCEPT for the restaurant ❌️❌️❌️ It's a BIG NO NO FOR THE RESTAURANT!!! We booked 2 villas and it's including the breakfast. Bcuz we were 5 adults, then we have to pay for the additional one. It's okay for us. But the additional price is so unbelieveable!! It's too expensive!! They charged 100.000 IDR for additional one. THE PROBLEM ISSSSS: THE PRICE & THE BREAKFAST ITSELF WEREN'T WORTHY AT ALL!!❌️ There was only nasi goreng, bubur ayam & roti. Can you imagine? It's 100K, it's almost same the price with the hotel breakfast (hotel breakfast are moooreeeee complete than this one). Also funny things about the restaurant, we couldn't ask for egg. There's only omellete, if we want other egg it will be charged (again) and the price is 30K for the (other) egg!!❌️ Later in the night time, we ordered sate ayam at the restaurant. Price still make sense a.k.a not expensive. It's 42.000 IDR (10 pcs sate ayam + rice). But the taste.. hmm.. dissapointing!! The sate taste not so fresh. It's difficult to eat.❌️ But the tea is definitely good!!! It taste like a rose one ✅️ The villa & the ambience totally good & worth the price. ✅️✅️✅️ Restaurant; hmm.. better you order the food from outside & eat that in your room .

If you are looking for a peaceful area to stay enjoy your book and rest in nature with a coffee then this is the place. Restaurant is cosy and serves good food. The stay houses are also beautiful and gives nice view of the park. Overall a nice place for a long weekend. Book in advance.

A large and beautiful flower garden with lots of variant especially Rose flower. The ambiance is really cool and pleasant. It's about 30minutes from the Garut City. You can also stay there or just visit to the place for relaxing.

The views and scenery is indeed really amazing. But I think the problem is the Guha (cave) itself. So I have come to the conclusion that why It's being called puncak Guha because there is a cave in that small hill. But this cave is a nest for bat. And it smells really bad, really really bad. And it becomes a really serious issue if you camp near that cave.

This is one of beach in Garut with a good view and you can camp in there. If you in good weather and visit on June - October you can take milky way. But, if you will camp in there you must prepare about your tent because Puncak Guha's was an open and scant clearing that caused a strong gust of wind from the sea.

Believe me, this place is one of best destination places for camping or sightseeing flowing waves from ocean at west java. You will be not regret for coming here. Instead of viewing ocean, you can see million of beautiful stars at peak of night. Having a camping fire in here !!!

Nice place for camping at Garut. Cold but not if u around ur friends. There's pines tree for hanging ur hammock, or u can build ur tent. And of course u can see beautiful sunrise too in the morning. No worry with the facilities.
