The highest summit of the former French Indochina colony. To get to the peak, there’re only 2 ways: overnight trekking and taking long gondolas. The gondolas are quite expensive and include multiple stops with a train ride from downtown Sa Pa. During the holiday seasons, the peak is really overcrowded and filled with travelers, so make sure that you make to the station earlier than usual.

Truly a beautiful and stunning place! Came here last December, during the cold weather season. Do wear thermal wear though, temperatures can approach 5 °C and below…

Amazing experience! We were above the cloud and the weather was fantastic. It is a trip to rem by and tourists should consider this place. But don’t try to take the 640 steps for the final ascend. thoroughly enjoyed !!!

Gorgeous views, cool weather and cultural richness with temples and pagodas. The peak of Fansipan is a must try excursion and well worth it. You can go up via steps or a tramp.

If you guys are traveling to Sapa, there are two major tourist attraction in these area, which are Fansipan and Cat Cat village. Fansipan is one of the highest mountain in the region. The idea is either take a cable car/ funicular and then a small tram to go to the peak region for sight seeing the mountain ranges and explore the pagoda and the Buddha statue. Or. Explore the nature by hiking from the base of mountain all the way to the peak. To go there. Just take a quick transpiration ride from the downtown Sapa city to go to Sunworld park to buy the tickets. Since this is one of the highest mountain in the region. Be prepared for always constant changing weather conditions and high altitude sickness.

When the weather is good you can just enjoy the time on fansipan for hours. Of course it's touristy but still worth it in my opinion. The views are excellent and the idea behind it quite nice

Magnificent views and statues! Building this without proper road is like another level of engineering;)))) I wasn't dressed ready for the crazy amount of wind. U can always buy clothes or pants from their souvenir shop but get ready for the chill and wind! Despite a very touristy place but this place is worth while and require some wlaking

I will say avoid a rainy day (worth a wait/stat in sapa for one more day) this can be way more beautiful- costs around 700k for cable car, 150k for two way train and 150k one side for last link train (optional) per person. Needs 3-4 hour’s minimum. Have a little park at cable car station where you can click beautiful pictures. Dont miss the waterfall on the way in cable car.

Spectacular view, wonderful experience, worth to walk up 600 steps instead taking the train. Visited in April and luckily the weather was good and stunning. Had to take a 🚂 up to the Fansipan station, then got to see a huge garden, then took a cable car 🚠 to the Fansipan, finally we walked up. We all really enjoyed it

I had the best experience visiting Fansipan. The weather was very good; it was sunny with a little fog around 3 PM. I would highly suggest that you look at the weather forecast before going here so that you don't waste your money on a foggy view. I recommend buying the package tickets with the peak rail because there are many steps to climb, especially when the weather is not on your side.

I really enjoyed Fansipan Peak. I had no idea it was owned by the same company as Ba Na Hills which I will admit, when I found out it really put me off. I was not of fan of the latter. All in all though it was very professionally run. The cable car to the top was enjoyable although being April, visibility was low. Aside from also being on a mountain peak, it felt like a very different experience to Ba Na. We did not use the Funicular mid way but chose to take the steps to the top. It was not a difficult climb with various points of interest to stop along the way. That said the Temples, Pagodas, statues etc… all recently constructed, did set the almost ‘theme park’ scene as they were clearly made for tourism purposes. So I guess the bottom line is these are theme parks really, tourist driven… the trade off being access to one at one of the highest peaks in the area. Enjoyable if you take it for what it is.

Highest peak in Vietnam, 3143m. It's best to come here early in the morning and enjoy the wonderful views because it may get foggy fast. One may take a cable car up to the top, then walk down slowly, less tiring.

It was so cooling and spectacular scenic view at the top of the peak@Fansipan! Is definitely worth the walk up the 600 steep staircases instead of taking the monorail!

Super cool view 🤩I bought my ticket round trip 🚠 cable car 🚡 and train. I was so impressed with the smooth and safety I felt 😌 it was a great experience for me. I have been to many places with cable cars but this was the best one for me. I think that I took a right decision to travel Sapa before I am too old 😂

Basically a hit or miss. Check the weather before heading to Fansipan. In addition, DO NOT go on weekends due to the high number of tourists. PREFERABLY GO weekdays and even if the weather says clear skies, on top there might still have fogs. Don’t be discouraged and wait for the fog to dissipate. Stay there at least 1-2 hours (not counting the cable car). A lot of stairs. Be prepared for up and down a lot. DO take a lot of rests if you’re not fit. Stairs are also super steep! Go with a guide or group if you need help. Plenty of bathroom and vendors for drinks. Wear warm clothing too. And have fun most of all! Hope you’ll love it as i did!

Day trip up Fansipan and we’re lucky. Lucky because it’s a clear day in Sapa in autumn! We pay our money at the failed shopping mall that is the station and head down to the funicular. Tickets are 800,000 dong pp midweek or 850,000 on weekends. Extra 150,000 for the lower funicular and 150,000 for the upper funicular. We chose the lower and the cable car figuring we’d climb the last bit. And we did. Lots of stairs but it was fun stopping along the way for many, many photos. The cable car journey is spectacular and long - just over 6k. The temples and associated statues are amazing, but nature is the star here. The views across the valley toSapa are stunning, as are the views that seem to stretch to China. We didn’t succumb to the food court or souvenir shopping at all the different stations so can’t comment on them. There is a lot of ‘please exit through the gift shop’. Was a remarkable day. Do it! Small note - wear sensible shoes. Saw lots of women struggling with heels on the narrow steps.

Cabel car ride took 20 minutes to go to the summit.we visited the place at the end of December, and that time, the weather was not good. the temperature was less than 5°.top of the mountain they had a restaurant and some shops.price was not expensive. If you are planning to visit the summit and if it is the first time you are going to visit a high altitude place, you may get altitude sickness, so be prepared.

We decide to come up at the foggy day because we didn’t want to miss our only chance to come up. The cable car ride is the most impressive. 3K took about 25 mins. Going through mountains, valley and streams. It’s absolutely worth of the ride just for that. The entire walk up is marble paved stairs. I can imagine how slippery it would be. The Buddhist temples and statues through out. The Buddhist singing all the way to top. It’s a very different experience of hiking. Summit at 3126m. The clear day would be amazing. Foggy day should be think twice.

Incredible experience, even on a cloudy day! Cable car is worth the price just on its own, amazing views. Some shops and restaurants at the top, not too expensive but very touristy and not much choice. I highly recommend you go to the peak, big are up there for photos! You could easily spend half the day there exploring!

Great views and experience. Take warmer clothes as it could be cold and very windy at the top. Cable car is absolutely impressive and not for fainthearted.

Not much visibility but still an enjoyable experience (learn to cut queue like the locals 😅) super crowded on a weekend. Cable car and monorail up to the peak then walk down to take the cable car. Wear a good windbreaker jacket and thermals, guaranteed to keep you warm throughout.

Very great site for reaching the top of indochina. The facility is amazing. The scenery was superb. Surely will come back to here.

Went yesterday ( 24 March 24) and was expecting it to be sunny as it was almost 27 degrees in Sapa and hot but oh boy I was wrong. Super windy and cold here (16 degrees max with high wind) with low visibility. Luck of the draw really but nevertheless it was a very cool experience and was cool being up so high. At the station it was super nice and sunny.

this was on my bucket list but i would advise against going here during Jan - early Mar. Visibility is absolutely TERRIBLE. it's cold and you will most likely get sick if you walk the entire way and you aren't in prime condition. Nonetheless, it was pretty okay but just wish that I was actually able to enjoy it instead of just falling completely sick :(

If you don't want to hike, I recommend to buy the full tickets including the peak rail, this place is huge and there are much more to see up there. You can spend half day exploring and enjoying this place.

This is a must visit as the views are absolutely breathtaking! Gotta get lucky though as your views could be limited on a cloudy day. The lines can be long on the cable cars, but they do move quickly. Definitely need to come back again!

I have been here for the hot and cold season. I would prefer the hot season more because the visibility is very clear and you can see everything. Especially during the cable car ride. The view is spectacular. During the cold season, basically it is just a white fog.

The cable car ride brings you to near the top of Fansipan. Ticket are pretty expensive, but worth going once. Best time to go during the autumn , worst time to go during winter. Catching sunrise/sunset really depends on pure luck.

We can't describe the beauty of this place in words. Cable car is a lifetime experience. One must visit this place to experience the beauty of nature from the closest possible way. Magnificent view of mountains, waterfalls, dense forest from the top is breathing. Loved it.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Fansipan, the highest peak in Vietnam, and it was an absolutely breathtaking experience. The cable car ride is a highlight of the trip, it provides breathtaking views of the rice terraces and steep cliffs below. When you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of cloud-covered peaks spanning all the way to the horizon. Fansipan's cloud patterns vary every few seconds, offering new shapes and vistas as the earth meets the sky.

Must visit place if you are planning to visit SAPA.. this is one of the height pic of the mountain.. one thing to remember before visiting this place.. you need to walk a lot.. if you are heart patient avoid to visit.. or if you are leasy to walk avoid the place to visit.. but one important point if you avoid to visit this place i must say you have missed the beautiful place to visit.. the rope way (cable car) service is so nice.. the management is so proper.. the cable are takes almost 20 mins to get it there at the top.. it feels like you are going from downward to upwards in between the clouds. (must experience it) .. after coming out of the cable car, you feel like you are in haven. the pagoda is very beautiful. also one more thing there is an train inside this place which runes on 90 degree angle, must ride once.. the charges are extra for this.. the beauty from top of the mountain is like (no words to explain).. check my photos for more details.. take water with you while visiting this place..

Outrageous views and stunning world record holder cable car. If you’re lucky enough to ascend 3200m and have a view, then count your blessings. Clouds and mist roll through like a surreal landscape. Simply stunning. ENTIRE views of Sapa valley as you ascend. 1,000,000 VND for entire round trip ascent of funicular, tram, and cable car.

Long line, but it moves quickly and great views on the way! The top can be cloudy, depending on the day you visit, but still well worth the trip. Vendors outside have surprisingly low prices souvenirs as well! Lots of fun and super glad we did it! We missed out the first day since the ticket office closes at 4pm, so keep that in mind!

Very fun, it is broken into 2 stops. One you take a "train" up, once at that location you can walk around, see the gardens, then take the tram the final leg of the trip. It was lovely in Sa Pa but it sure changed once we reached the summit

Very pricey way to get up a mountain. They really force you to walk through the gauntlet of souvenir stands and eateries which was unwanted. However, the temple and monastery complex at the top of the mountain is impressive. And the views are incredible.

We had a great experience, even though the weather was bad (foggy, windy). It was still very much worth the trip. The cable car ride is exciting with long overspans and great views over the terraced farms and nature on the mountains. It was a bit windy, and the cabin was swaying a bit. We bought a vip package, which is well worth the money as you can skip all lines in the train and cable car and have a cabin for yourselves.

Great place to visit, the views were great. Too bad when we reached the peak it was cloudy. The views up to the peak was great. Recommend buy the VIP package. Recommend around 4-5 hours to spend on both sides of the attraction. Get the tram up to the peak, don’t save on that’s then walk down instead.

I’m not sure if the crowd would be lesser during weekdays. Went on a weekend and was pushed and shoved around by their local people, there is zero queue management, the locals do not care if you’re pregnant or old, they still shove you out of the queue. Not suitable for elderly and young toddlers. Would NOT recommend unless the management practise better coordination and educate all visitors on queueing and patience. Regrettably a bad experience, plenty of clouds. Weather is unpredictable and checking the forecast does not help at all.

A breathtaking gondola which is a very long route with a stunning view. It takes you around 15 min to reach the highest peak in Indochina. Advice to buy a ticket in advance to minimize a waiting time

Wonderful cable car experience to reach the top of Indochina, the Fansipan. There are 3 kinds of transportation to reach fansipan. First is funicular train from sun plaza to mung hoa station, second is the cable car from mung hoa station to fansipan station, and the third is monorail from fansipan station to fansipan peak. However you can choose to walk from fansipan station to fansipan peak and save you some money. The total cost if you use all mentioned transportation is about 50USD, so it's advised to book your ticket online.

We loved this experience, even on a stormy wet day. The temples and statues are beautiful, the cafe at the top, although expensive, made the best hot chocolate we have ever tasted, the cable car ran smooth and was roomy with insane views of the valley below, and to cap it all there was a break in the cloud which gave us a glimpse out, a rainbow and the most atmospheric photos. Highly recommend.

A must go place if you are in Hanoi, despite traveling to Sa Pa, Lao Cai by road takes about 6 hours. Best to go is in the morning, opens from 0815hrs, while the afternoon sun is not out. There will be queue surely but quite quickly it flows. Last train will be 1530hrs from SaPa station.

Worthwhile tourist attraction to go to. False are a 4-5 tier waterfall with the last tier not accessible to general public as the walkway ceases to go any further up. 20k Dong to enter definitely worth a visit as it only takes 20 minutes return.

The Silver Waterfall is a hidden gem surrounded by pure nature. With a small entrance fee, the attraction offers an affordable escape without any waiting lines. I recommend visiting early in the day to fully appreciate the beauty without any other people around. Don't let foggy weather to put you off, waterfall is worth to visit even in bad weather conditions. It's a must visit place for all nature lovers.

It's nice. Probably more beautiful in winter time when there is more water. Not too hard to get to the top. I would recommend to go her only of it's on the way.

Very nice scenic view.Has got around 250 stairs to climb.It is adventurous and thrilling to go up there.

It’s a little bit run down, we went in the afternoon around 2.30pm and the sun was behind the hill so it was in shade and quite dark. Entry was 20k each and it takes about 5-10 minutes to get to the top, One side of the walkway is closed at the moment for repairs so you go up and down the same path. It’s a pretty waterfall but nothing amazing. I think better to visit in the morning/midday so it’s sunny

This stunning waterfall is located at about 30 minutes away from sapa town and it costs about 20k dong for the entrance fee. It’s about a 15 mins hike up to the mini bridge to see the waterfall, and it’s really quite pretty as you get the comprehensive views of the mountains as well. However, a tip is if you took a taxi up here, please get the driver to wait for you!! We didn’t and the information counter tried to charge us 500k dong to get to our next spot that is 5 mins away lol… but yes definitely recommend this place!!

Amazing place. Lovely waterfall.

I only managed to visit this waterfall in my recent trip to Sapa due to the heavy rainy season. It's amazing that the skies cleared up for 30mins just in time for us to walk up and take some pictures with the waterfall. Do note that there is an entrance fee to enter. The sliver bridge is the max you can go. There are proper steps up and down. No hiking required 👍

Not mandatory to go there, if you are used to see waterfalls... You won't be impressed... Cost is very low, if you have time it can be nice, but don't go there juste for that.

Nice place to go but very far from Sa Pa town. Road to go there got nothing to attract my eyes to stop and it’s only waterfall you can go if you arrive there. You are lucky if you go and there is no foggy. I didn’t go inside coz the time i arrive it’s so cold and so foggy. Just take photo outside and purchase persimmons by the roadside which the fruits is so juicy and crunchy. There is fees to pay on the entrance.

Nice waterfall but a lot of stairs so enter at your own risk. I’m not in the best shape and I found it doable, so don’t be deterred. Nice view at the top.

We hired a taxi driver at a reasonable price to drive us to the Silver Waterfall and the Love Waterfall, about fifteen minutes from Sapa, and of course he would wait for us. First, for 70000 dong we entered the love waterfall reserve, a foggy morning created mysterious and beautiful sights, the road to this waterfall is lined with stairs, some with a railing, and lovely views. The waterfall itself is very high, at the bottom a heart-shaped object is designed and there you take pictures in the background of the waterfall, kitschy but nice. At the end, the taxi driver was waiting for us to take us to the silver waterfall, we bought a ticket at the entrance for 20,000 dong and we started a steep climb of about two hundred steps to the lower third of the waterfall, where there is a bridge that crosses the waterfall and allows a view angle up to its beginning at the top. At the exit of the waterfall there are several food stalls for those who are really hungry and can't wait until we get to Sapa. All in all a pleasant experience of several hours, recommended.

It's a nice spot, but nothing too spectacular. Fair amount of steep stairs to walk up, but not so bad. Little shops and food nearby. If you see the shop shortly before the ticket booth listing "Com Rang," get that. Some of the best fried rice you'll eat (contains) little meat cubes.

Pretty waterfall ⛲ directly accessible on the right side of the main road. Parking on the left but you can go after the stands and the main parking area and will be able to park for free. 💵 Entrance 20K Was there mid April and the water level was very low so not that impressive but still enjoyable. Not many people. You have to walk up around 10 minutes through steep stairs.

The waterfall is just beside the road. Need to pay entrance fee and climb a flight of stairs, about 6-7 storeys to see the main waterfall. Cannot see the main waterfall clearly from the road. There are stalls selling local produce. Knives and smoked meat are popular items. There are a restaurant and a cafeteria with a great view of the valley.

It was very foggy when we visited this fall. Nonetheless the fall was spectacular & just indulged yourself in the soothing sound of the fall. A small fee of vnd20k for entrance.

Would personally not recommend Sa Pa at all. The town square is filled at night with very young children (from ages 1 and above) who are being exploited and left by themselves to sell trinkets and dance for tourists, and it's very upsetting to see as they're often crying and left alone until midnight. It's also disturbing as the little girls are often picked up and held by men for pictures. It's also a complete tourist trap, much more expensive then anywhere else we visited (try to only go to places with prices on the menus as we were continually ripped off for food here). Avoid, there are other towns nearby which are just as beautiful if you're after hiking.

Great place for people watching. We were lucky to have a balcony overlooking "Quang Truong Square", so we often watched what was going on. Lots of kids played here, school day events happened, people flew drones and kites and photographers took wedding photos there. There was often something different going on. Great people-watching, and free. There are many food and drink outlets nearby

A chill day in Sapa for us so we decided to climb Ham Rong. Entry was 70000 dong and we hit the stairs! It’s autumn so the flowers were no where near their summer or spring peak. The park was virtually deserted, which made a nice change of pace from busy Sapa. There were flowers, and the rock formations and general lushness of the park were lovely. We climbed all the way through both Heaven Gates to the Cloud Garden. Even though it was a misty day, the views down to Sapa town were great. It’s barely a 3k walk with about 150m vertical, but a nice walk nonetheless.

View was beautiful although it was a quite foggy when we went, the whole park was maintained very well. Have to pay for an entrance fee, a bit of hiking/climbing up stairs to do, so have to be extra careful especially when some directions could be confused. Remember to take a map! Anyway all roads will surely lead you up to the cloud yard, where you can see the whole Sapa city!

Great spot if you’re looking for something to do for a couple of hours on Sapa Town. While visibility was very limited on the day I ventured there, it was still really peaceful and enjoyable, with nice gardens and statues. I imagine the view is incredible on a clear day.

Now it have to be said this was no directly Ham Rong, but a part of Sapa city overseeing it. We went to a restaurant called Good View (if I remember) and we just wanted a great lunch. But it ended up being an amazing lunch with and even more amazing view! These views you find from restaurants just by walking around in the smaller streets of Sapa. So please do take a little promenade through the small city, you will not forget it!

To be honest, I did not plan to go to this place in the first place but the Sunworld cable car was closed unexpectedly so I was looking for some outdoor activity for alternative. The entry fee was 70,000 D which I think it’s reasonable since the park was very large. There are two main area: the flower park and the hill. The flower park was just okay. The hill was nice maintained and the path was in good condition. The uphill walking was not hard and you can reach the peak (Cloud yard/San May) by 10-15 minute. However the park is so large that you can spend more time exploring the nature. They did not give you a map by default so here is the photo of map I got.

I went up this mountain as a practice before trekking Fansipan mountain, it's probably not comparable to it in terms of physical intensity, time, etc., but it's certainly a site to behold if you can climb all the way up to the peak. Great location for some breeze and of course, photography. The trekkking itself should be mild (or easy) for most people. But still, do wear some proper shoes as the steps can be slippery. Git yo mountain on.

There are quite alot of steep steps to get up there. The place looks like a botanic garden but not very well maintained. It has a nice view of the city though. I wouldn't suggest visiting this place if you have limited time.

Nice path walk way to the top (cloud yard) to see the view of Sapa town. Ticket is 70,000vnd/pax There are lots of beautiful flower garden along the way. Need 45 mins to go up and 30 hour to go down. Lots of shop selling drinking water along the way. Only one thing to improve is sign board. We get lost coz many ways to go around until find the way to the top.

Better climb here than Fansipan really, loved going up and has beautiful views and greenery around. Multiple routes so they could have done a bit better to show the routes or map if they are taking an entry fee for the same. Nevertheless was a beautiful experience and loved every bit of it… If in Sapa do this for sure 👍👍

Bit of a weird place. I was on a run and so I approached from the top, hence I didn’t have to pay to enter. And thankful that I didn’t because it’s super weird. I guess they try to make the gardens looks nice but they don’t… it’s like work by a not-so-good gardener. Not interesting and not good for photos so I don’t really get it.

Cost 70,000 VND entry fee. The Gardens are very well looked after and I am very happy to have visited this park that offers great views. The orchid garden at the start of the trail overlooks Sapa Town. A word of caution: do not attempt this if u have issues with your knees. Lots of stone steps n some are quite tall.

Interesting and easy hike to Ham Rong Mountain. Sadly, there are a few places scattered with litter. The view was nice given the cloudy weather, there are a few flower parks on the way up. The scenic lookout was good and enjoyable.

Such an underrated place, just located near Sa Pa Cathedral. Serene place and tranquil, but too bad looks deserted.

Unexpectedly, this was a really cool park. We were lucky that the clouds were low and in combination with the wind, it caused some really mysterious atmosphere. The park starts off with some really weird statues that don't fit the environment in my opinion. But the gardens are pretty nice and the rock formation looks really cool. If you walk to the top, you have a beautiful view over Sapa and to the mountain Fansipan. Unfortunately, some people seem to leave all of their trash behind throughout the park. Terrible. I think we paid 80.000 VND entrance per person, but that is totally worth it.

Our first stop and only stop in Sapa because this park exceeded our expectations so much so that we felt fully satisfied with our time in Sapa. Extremely peaceful and beautiful. So much to see and explore from gardens, ponds, statues, to sacred mountains, beautiful views of sapa and distant fields, and incredible rock formations. We ended up spending around 3 hours here. We passed multiple washrooms around the park & stops to buy drinks or snacks. Tickets were 70k vnd and on our way back, a lady came up to us and charged us 10k for parking (may be unofficial but just a warning)

Vnd70k for entrance fees. Nice garden with lots of flowers blooming away. Signage could be improved as we lost our way to the cloud yard. Nevertheless it was very pleasant walking around and exploring this place.

Ham Rong is worth a visit when it's not cloudy in Sa Pa. The entrance fee is acceptable, but the viewpoint is from our point of view the only highlight in the park. The viewpoint is a little bit difficult to find, but once found the view on Sa Pa is really nice.

Unfortunately it is not orchid season. There were orchid blossoms on only one plant. Nice nature and views of Sapa. Admission is 70,000 Dong. There are some brightly colored odd statues I guess to amuse children. If you have mobility issues or just bad knees, it is not recommended.

Well apart from the unfortunate fact that my wife broke her ankle here it is a beautiful place. And, just to be sure, it is a safe place to walk as the break was a simple accident. But you can see how this might have been a problem as I carried her down the stairs finally getting a taxi to the local hospital. But don't let our experience stop you from going.

Beautiful sunset after the rain!! It’s such a blessing in disguise. We came to the not too crowded viewpoint operated by some ethinic minority people. It cost 20k/ person to come inside and take photos. They also provided grilled sweet potatoes, grilled eggs and rice, some drinks too. The view is stunning!! Really worth it to go and see the pass even though it’s a lot different from when I came nearly 10 years ago! But definitely worth the ride!!

You don't need to buy the ticket 3$ and go to the tourist area, nothing to see on the top, hire a motorbike and take the road to mountain pass road. So impressive. Specially in daylight, you will have a lot of beautiful pictures. Please take a look in my picture, you will see how beautiful, majestic vietnam mountains are. You have to visit this when you're in Sapa, but don't go the the early morning, the fog is too much, can't see anything. Best time to go from 10am to 2pm.

I signed on with sapa tourist office for this 12k trek to 3 nearby villages with guide “Sam” . It was an amazingly wonderful day.. up and down the rice terraces with her helpers for us…7 village gal helpers for the sometimes difficult steps.. all 11 of us international trekers enjoyed the day, a wonderful lunch and trek made special with Sam’s continual humor in relaying her culture. Would highly recommend this trek! A highlight of my month in Vietnam!.

A poor information centre. No maps available and little in the way of literature. Not much of interest on the walls. The member of staff I spoke to had excellent English, but was just not too helpful. He came up with a day's car journey which was much more expensive than I eventually got elsewhere.

Booked a 2N/3D trek and home stay through the tourist office. Was absolutely brilliant with delicious food all the way. Tourist office were very helpful and it was excellent value for money. We shopped around and this was by far the best price.

Waited for the office to open 1.30 PM...they arrived 2.15....I asked about my options for exploring Sa Pa and the woman working there gave me a fast explanation to do the 2 day 1 night tour, only 700 000 dong, including meals, water and homestay. I didn't get any clear information about the tour...I explained that I don't want to hike a lot and asked if it was possible to explore by bike, she said no you have to do the tour. I was tired from my travels and took her word for it... Day 1 - the tour guide was a man named Singh, he walked with the group, as well as several Hmong women. The guide didn't share any information as we were walking...the women were very friendly and helped us down the slippery slopes...at times we saw some beautiful scenery but most of the time we just walked in the forest down muddy slopes. After a few hours I asked about water and the guide said we get one bottle at the next break...it was a small bottle! We arrived in a village for lunch, don't know where because the guide didn't tell us. As soon as we sat down (in a less charming restaurant) the Hmong women grabbed their baskets from their backs and showed us all the things they want to sell us, they were pretty aggressive. This is why they walk with you and help you, so you'll feel obligated to buy something.The lunch was ok, but no water included. We came to the next village, there the guide explained very short about the area and the tribes. Then we moved on....we are in Ta Van and this is where the homestay is. A woman named Toy took us to her home. It is like a big old barn, and outside there is a table and plastic chairs for you to relax!? Not so relaxing....and the woman doesn't say much, we had to ask about everything. You can buy water and beer, for a higher price than in town. The sleeping area is upstairs, thin mattresses on the floor.. We walked outside for a bit and saw way more homestays that looked more comfortable. Day 2- breakfast is pancakes (tasteless and dry) and bananas, tea and 3in1 coffee.. Our guide arrives at 9.30 AM, with a small bottle of water for everyone! He is clearly very tired and doesn't say anything during the walk....we walk up a hill, see some buffaloes, walk through a bamboo forest and then to a "waterfall". He walks very slowly and drags his feet, doesn't say anything about the places we walk through or the village....last stop is lunch in a bare concrete house with construction surroundings...and of course a lot of ethnic minorities in your face trying to make you buy stuff... then the van picks us up 1.15 PM and we are back in town 2.15 PM. We jump out, the guide just stands there quiet...so we say thank you and good bye. Was he waiting for a tip!? In our group there were people who only paid 450 000 dong for the tour so we asked the information about this...she said it's because they booked earlier online...that is not fair! And about the free water that wasn't true, she said she told us there is 1 bottle per day. She did not!! I'm sorry but this tour IS NOT WORTH IT. Try to find a private tour or a homestay that is more authentic!

The museum is free and only takes 15min- 60 minutes (depending on if you are someone that likes to read absolutely everything or just happy to read titles and look at pictures, we are the latter!). It is quite dated and a bit sad looking but you can’t really expect a lot from something that is free.
