One of the best beaches in Gokarna, very clean and crystal clear water. There are lots of big rocks at the seashore that are the attraction point and enhance the beauty of this beach. Here the sunset view is very peaceful, romantic shades of red and orange across the sky. Just wanted to clear few things when you go to I’m beach with your own car so be careful at the valley because there is no specific parking place available here peoples are just park the car along the one way road and since the road is very narrow and steep slope it’s very difficult to turn the car and forward in a steep slope you my suggestion is only park your vehicle in a flat surface road don’t park on slope otherwise you will stuck or high chances of accident. Second thing also careful from local vehicles “travellers” they drive very roughly and they haven’t stopped their vehicle even on pass or horn. So my road experience was very bad. Once you park the vehicle you have to trek around 500m for the beach point through stairs. Only one cafe shack is available “Namaste Cafe” which is very good and you can enjoy the drinks and beverages here. I have clicked few snapshots you can see the natural beauty of oh beach.

One of the best beaches I have ever been to! The beach is fabulous and clean. The stone structures add to the beauty of the beach. One of the best places one can be to witness a wonderful sunset. There are certain photographic points where the waves rise high because of stone structures. The water is clear. There are eating outlets available near the beach. There is a staircase from the main road to the beach down. Some of the steps might be steep for some people. To get a good view of the beach be there at least 1 hour before sunset so that you could witness the beauty of the beach and sunset. Happy Traveling!!

Om beach is huge. When you reach the entrance (near the parking lot) you must trek down to reach the beach. There's a very clear step path to trek down so nothing to worry about. We had taken a road-trip from Bengaluru to Gokarna( 500 km approx) and I must say the drive was beautiful, though at some places road construction for road-widening is in process currently. Hopefully, in few months that wont be a menace. Once you reach the beach you will start to see many vendors and ferries. Namaste Cafe is right at the entrance. The first half of the 'om' is the crowded one as it is right at the entrance. To reach the second half of the 'om' you need to walk along the first half and reach the other side. We visited first on a sunday evening, and the beach was so crowded that it disappointed us. Even then we went and found a spot on the rocks to watch the sunsets but soon after the crowd started to gather there as well. If you visit on a weekday, however, the crowd is limited and you can experience the fun of the waters. The water at OM beach is dirtier than other beaches in gokarna. But the sunset is absolutely spectacular. Ferries run on this beach which transport you to other beaches such as - paradise beach and half moon beach. You can even trek to paradise and half moon beach from om beach. There are also water activities which are conducted here, but their availability varies with the strength of the tide in the waters too. If you choose to drive a bike till om beach then beware of the roads as they are broken in some parts. The road is also narrow and has several turns and bends making it hard to know if another vehicle is coming from the opposite side. Nonetheless, the drive till there is absolutely stunning and you'll even get to see OM beach from the top at a very well known sunset point The sunset was worth a watch. The road leading to the beach is also very well laid with greenery all around and the view point which is quite away from the beach gave a spectacular view of the same. Being one of the most prominent beaches of Gokarna, it gets a little crowded during the peak hours. But one can get a real escape to the nature’s abode watching the mesmerizing sunset and the clear waters splashing against the rocks. Please carry shades and a hat as it gets really sunny. Carry an extra set of clothes. There are changing rooms and washrooms also. You can rent two-wheelers for going around. For cars, the roads in Gokarna are too narrow, but we somehow managed. There are good places to eat only along the beachside.

It's a very famous beach, you will get many small shops for bracelets, miniatures, etc. Be aware of scammers as you may get the same bracelet at an affordable price in the main markets. There is one spot in the center of the om beach where you might get many broken sea shells as well as unique sea shells.

Very clean beach. You find multiple options of cafe's/shack's overall a great place to chill. Best time for less crowd: Early mornings before 10 am and late evenings post 7pm.

We parked the vehicle at the cliff-top parking ('Kudle Beach Jungle Parking' in Google Maps) and walked to the On beach. It took us 10-15 min through the rocks, jungle, and stairs to reach the Om beach entrance. While going, it was early morning, so the path was enjoyable, but returning post-noon was a slightly challenging walk. Om Beach is the most beautiful place in Gokarna. We spent the most time here. There are ample options for food and drinks on the beach. We walked till the end of Om Beach and had lunch at the Sunset Point restaurant. Butterfly Beach and Half Moon Beach can only be reached by boat or by trekking through the cliff. We took a boat from Om Beach to visit those. Being in between the cliffs, both are very beautiful. There was some tent-type accommodation visible on these beaches, too.

This is a rocky beach in the shape of Om, hence the name 'Om' beach. This is one of the best beaches in gokarna for bathing as sea current is quite low and you can enter deep into the water as there is shallow water. You can enjoy water sports activities as well. There is a beach wear shop on the beach that provides good clothes at reasonable prices, balls, slippers etc. There is Namaste Cafe on the beach that serves good food.

One of the best place to visit near gokarna. I soent my evening there and absolutely loved it. The walk was a bit of struggle but it was worth. There are not many restaurants. The place is bit dangerous coz its slippery, needs to be careful when walking around, especially on the rocks

The gateway to the beach is very beautiful but as soon as you reach the end there is garbage everywhere and a bad smell never leaves your nose, over crowded, most commercial beach of gokarna and very dirty, not suitable for staying as you have climbed up 50 stairs to reach parking, overall I found it not worth to visit.But who likes rides and other sea sports may visit the place.

I visited the beach once in March and once in monsoon in June. It has its unique beauty in both the seasons. Obviously it is less crowded during the monsoon and most of the time you won't be allowed to go near the sea but the beauty is mesmerizing. However, don't expect the beaches to be clean in monsoon because the rains drain away the dirt from the hills to the seashores. But you won't regret it. I had awesome experience and I would love to go there again in some time.

It will pretty nice if you visit sunrise. Or sunset. We went almost while it's getting dark. So just enjoyed colours of sky. That's it. Anyways i am from visakhapatnam, pretty daily visitor to beach here. so i didn't paid much attention to beach visit this time due to tight schedule. Shall visit next time.

Gokarna beach is a very silent and secluded beach. There are plenty of beach shacks available as well. The beach is very clean and tidy. There are plenty of hillocks which surrounds the beach makes the beach even more mesmerizing. There sunset is a real eye treat, the rocks which adore the beach is superb. The green covering over the hillocks is very natural, during the monsoon season it will be much more greener.

It is however closer to the Mahabaleshwar Temple and hence you can see many pilgrims taking bath there before offering their puja. The part directly in front of the temple is extremely crowded and is frequented by pilgrims so it might be little awkward for youngsters (particularly ladies) to bathe here in their swimming costumes or shorts. But you can easily skip the crowd if you go a km or more inside the beach away from the temple. Here crowd is also very less, the shacks are also present and you can just leave your things behind in the shack and go and take a dip in the calm waves. We went to this beach near the evening just before taking the return bus and enjoyed a beautiful pre-sunset. Unfortunately we could not wait till the sunset due to lack of time but I am pretty sure the sunset here would have been awesome.

I had a great experience but no beach is clean. Everywhere you will see the garbage. More than beach, I personally liked the trek from OM beach to Paradise beach. Paradise beach is an over-hyped place. Trek was good till that point, but not the beach. If you are reading this, a gentle request please try to keep clean the beach. Please don't throw plastic or any other belongings.

A road touching beach. Very peaceful and soothing waves. Having a sea view hotel for a stay gives best vibes. The other side has fishing boats. A lot of people come here. An underrated but in a way it is best to avoid overcrowding. Nice beach. Do visit. No waiting, no entry fees.

An excellent beach area to spend your vacations/holidays/honeymoons on off-seasons due to less crowd and calm place. Kindly avoid the visits during festive seasons unless you are really want to enjoy the crowdness. I suggest to not take cottages very close to beach due to high cost if you have a budget constraints else you can go for it. My recommendation is to take resort which are little far from beach (just 100-200 mts) away from seashore to save up to 50% on your room rentals. The best part is that the beach is full of sea views restaurants to enjoy your meal or snack with hot ☕ or cold drinks 🍻.

Must visit place, if you are planning for calm and 1day plan then visit gokarna, main beach is decent although you can get Best views and clean beach here also avoid in summers it has intense heat we visited in August still it was feeling like summer and beaches are also closed due to monsoon season so no boat riding. Must visit half moon beach, om beach and paradise beach 5-6 kms from the gorkarna main beach take 2wheeler on rent and ride whole day.

Beach is good. Place is wast. Beach is safe and secure till 12 I would say. People who are visiting, chill out in the sand however to you want. There’s a lot of littering. Please carry your belongings including your bottles, tissues, papers. It’s ours! Keeping clean 🙌

The sand is soft and fine, with very few shells or pebbles. The water is warm and did not have any seaweed to speak of. The guest rooms and restaurants along the beach are numerous and the staff are all friendly and helpful. Loved it, the water was very clean, i could actually see my feet and the sand at the bottom, it's a very long beach, so you can always find space. But it's too crowded. So you might not get the pictures you desire to capture but that's okay as long as you enjoy it.

Gokarna main beach is famous for the Mahabaleshwar temple around and the big market full of shops. Majority of shops are selling tea, spices, incense rocks etc. You would find restaurants and hotels. The place overall is dirty as most of the places around temples are which is an irony in itself. If you are driving and coming to the beach, the roads are very narrow and you would feel that the road doesn’t go to the beach, but it does right to the beach. The place is crowded. Doesn’t give the beach vibes but only religious vibes.

One of the holiest sites in South India. It is the site of the temple of the Atmalinga of Lord Shiva. The line leading up to it gets long and wait times typically range in the 1hr+ range. Men have to compulsorily remove the shirt and baniyan while entering the holy sanctum along with leaving a lungi. The road leading up to it is very narrow and sometimes I wondered if we were even going on the correct road. It gets pretty crowded and hot here, so prepare accordingly. The ground can also get hot while traveling barefoot. Overall blessed to come here and visit the temple.

Mahabaleshwar Temple has ancient history. Traditional wear is mandatory to enter the temple. Male has to wear dhoti and females should be in traditional wear. Nearby Gokarna main beach is situated. Near the Prasadalaya is available for devotees meals. The area is filled with Spiritual vibes and positivity. The beach is clean and swimming can be done. On special occasions the temple will be crowded.

The temple is beautiful & ancient. These pictures are of the exterior. The Shiva Ling here is different from the ones I have seen till date. A very significant temple in terms of history. The Shiva Lingam here is very unique and does not exist elsewhere. We can touch the Shiva Lingam and take blessings. There is a very strict dress code for this temple , all men must wear traditional attire (Lungi) and must remove their shirts when entering inside. The roads leading to this temple are extremely narrow , better park your vehicle a bit far and walk towards the temple. The main beach of Gokarna is just adjacent to the temple.

Shri Mahabaleshwara Swamy temple is the holiest place in Gokarna. People all over India do visit this temple as per spirituality. Must visit with family. It does follow few restrictions about clothes before entering. I came across the banner or hoarding stating No Foreigner Allowed in temple( strange but fact)

The temple and its surroundings were disappointing in terms of upkeep and maintenance, with a noticeable lack of effort from the authorities. Despite the temple's renowned status and my global travelers, I didn't find it welcoming. It's crucial for the authorities to prioritize expanding the road width and maintaining the premises regularly. If you plan to visit, it's advisable not to bring a vehicle larger than a hatchback due to road leading to temple/parking is narrow. Better take an auto. Otherwise, if you manage to get in - you should find dedicated parking at walking distance from the temple. Be mindful about the dress code 👈🏼

Lovely place for vacation.. Cool calm beach, silent trekking, good food, holy atmosphere and peaceful vibes.. You can spend 3 days with relaxation.. The way people are living there is amazing. Like silent town. Temple is very peaceful. No tickets were there. Just stand in line and chant ... touch the lord shiva aatma ling and feel the god power..

Mahabaleshwar Temple in Gokarna is one of the famous temples of South India and there is a good rich history behind it. I would recommend it to read before visiting the temple. Some of the interesting facts about the temple - 1. No Foreigners are allowed. 2. Men are allowed with lungi as attire (no jeans, pants or shorts) - It can be bought outside from markets in around 70 bucks. 3. Women are allowed with traditional Indian attires like saree. Also lines can be huge on peak days (It took me 1.5 hours in the line on Saturday)

Having the only atmalingam in the country this temple is already special. Points to keep in mind while planning to visit this : Need to enter in white/red lungi with no top for men. You can bath in ocean before taking another bath and visit the temple. Taxi/ auto available from railway station to mahabaleshwar temple at reasonable price. Cheap rooms available nearby for stays. Good filter coffee. Buses to murdeshwar can be taken which goes via Kumta at reasonable price.

Sacred place. A religious place with mythological reason behind. Approach road is narrow, walking advisable. Men are allowed with bare body and dhoti only. Women devotees can enter with dress code as saree or salwar suit. After bath, before food darshan recommended.

Improvement in devotional arrangements is necessary. Additionally, there's no designated parking area; visitors must park by the beach area.

This ancient temple has a significant history and is very famous not only regionally but nationally and globally. The temple management and local administration have failed indeed to upgrade the facilities required by the temple and the town keeping in view of the footfall of devotees and visitors which is increasing year over year. Roads are very narrow in this town. Worst parking area for vehicles. Cleanliness in and around the temple is also the worst. Stainless steel railing pipes should be installed for the darshan queue. Drinking water unit for devotees in the queue is literally ill. By seeing the lack of the above mentioned facilities, visitors, at the end could wonder about the use of donations the temple is receiving.

A medium difficult trek to witness this beautiful paradise beach. Parking costs 30rs per motorcycle/ moped. The trek takes 30-45 minutes to complete. The beach has many water sport activities for people coming in. A must visit very calm serene beach.

Absolute delight. Lovely view throughout the trek to paradise beach from Half moon beach. Less crowded as it is accessible via trek or boat that costs more. I preferred trek. Less shop and stay options. Tent stay is available at the beach side.

The most beautiful beach in the whole of Gokarna. The name is just right for it, although u need to do a trek through the woods to access this beautiful beach but its worth it. The trek time is 20 30 min one way depending on the speed.

Butterfly Beach and Half Moon Beach can only be reached by boat or by trekking through the cliff. We took a boat from Om Beach to visit those. Being in between the cliffs, both are very beautiful. There was some tent-type accommodation visible on these beaches, too.

We visited this beach during the beach trek. It was the first beach as we started from Belekan Beach. The beach is very secluded and there is no way to access beach via road. It is accessible via trekking or through ferry. The beach has some night camping options as well through locals who have set up some camps. The beach is quite serene and peaceful.

Its a good place to trek and enjoy this beach. Better travel here with 2 wheeler not with a car the road leading to parking area is not in a good condition. And other roads are blocked by private homes. They have couple of shacks here for refreshments. Its a quite space to experience the early morning calmness.

We went from om beach to Paradise beach via the hike route. It was beautiful! However, the pasadise beach wasn't exactly what we expected, but the journey of the hike makes it worthwhile. Please be aware that the hike has alot of ups and downs which may not be suitable for some people.

Paradise beach was cool and calm but no way to reach, only trails were there and with kids they were little difficult to walk. No swimming... only scenes are very nice.

Nice small beach. It's bit difficult to reach there as there is no proper road till paradise beach trail starting point. Once you reach trail start point there is 20-25 min good treking till beach. At the end of trek, on one side is small hell beach and on other side paradise beach.

Its just the heaven.. There are lot of activities and tourist attraction spread across gokarna of which one of the main attraction is the beaches. The beaches are also spread across of which the main beaches are paradise, half moon and om beach If you want a vibe atmos then nake sure you must go to the beach treks because the famous beaches paradise, half moon and om beach are there.. These are two different beaches but they comes in single stretch which makes a carnival for the visitors.. Make sure to book hotels/stays near these beaches so that you can reach the beach easily and can explore the areas with good energy.. Water sports(few) are there which highlights the tourists attraction its starts from morning till evening... The dusk and dawns are the vibing timings of the beaches... You will see different faces of the beaches as the time changes... Mornings and nights are entirely different.. So plan accordingly that you should visit both timings....

My experience is based on the fact that we were there during the peak season and not on foot but in a ferry. I have heard and read that the hike is better or a drive on 2 wheeler. When we got there there was nothing paradisey about it. Camps all over the small beach and looked over crowded. But on a full moon night and with no camps maybe it will be a sight to behold.

Good for view but do not try to swim here, it is really deep at the shores. You can hire life jackets for 50rs/30 min. Snack points are available near beach. You need to walk 1 km from parking spot. Fairy is available from Paradise beach to other adjacent beaches.

To visit paradise beach, one can trek from Belekan beach or Half moon beach. The trek is a trail from lush green hills that land you in the paradise beach. Beach is equipped with tents, cafe, and shacks to have a shower or play volleyball. Beach also has boat services to Om beach / Half moon beach. Overall 9/10 recommended.

It's a little moon shaped beach. We reached there at 10 am, there were only 2 ppl other than us. We had little difficulty reaching there. Cuz the path wasn't good at all. It is paradise to look because compared to other beaches its water is more clean, and more greenery is there and this place is less crowded. 15-20 min trekking to reach the beach.

Great place to visit. There is a trek starting from both belekan and om beach, each about 30 minute long, not very difficult but remember to wear shoes and full length clothes. Feels like a private beach once you reach there. You can also take a shower there by asking the cafe owners to switch on the showers by paying them a little extra.

This is a very small beach located between Om beach and Paradise beach. It has a few shacks and very little crowds. This beach is not easily accessible. Visit this beach if you want to go to a small and calm beach or your area doing the Gokarna beach trek.

The Half Moon Beach trek is a must-do for anyone visiting Gokarna. The trek from Paradise Beach takes you to Half Moon Beach. The beach is secluded and pristine, with soft white sand and turquoise waters. It's the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun.

Good !! This is right next to paradise beach just separated from small hillock and it can only be reached by hike or boat. I didn't see any tourists in this beach , just saw few localities and there was no cafe or shops. Beach is very seculed and full of rocks, not good for playing in water.

About the beach: It is a secluded beach reachable only by trek. I really enjoyed the peace Day of visit: I visited in an off seasons during first week of may 2024. It was fully empty. Even cafes were closed. How to reach: I started my trek from Om beach and walked to the moon beach. The trail is lovely. I started trek in morning to avoid sun. Even the trail was empty. Do caary sufficient water a bit of food as you will not find anything in between also download the map to be used in offline mode as network may not be available. During this time, ferrys dont carry travelers to the beach as sea currents are strong. Although there is ferry to watch the beach from a distance.

The beach is serene, not very crowded. Can be access through trek, not sure about other ways to reach this location. Not much variety restaurants available in this location. Would be great place to see while trekking for loans distance. Overall an amazing place to spend 2-4 hours

Its near to Mahabaleshwar temple. Lord Ganesha's standing statue is the major attraction. It has historical importance. It gives holy vibes. Famous amongst the devotees. No photography allowed. Traditional attire is required to enter in temple.

This temple besides the Main Mahabaleshwara temple, where the Lord Ganesha's standing beautiful idol is placed. The idol has a mark on Ganesha's head as angry Ravana hit Lord Ganesh (in batuk avatar) on his head as he kept the linga down. The temple requires men to wear dhoti/pancha and ladies to wear saree/punjabi dress. The temple closes 1:30 pm and reopens at 5 pm.

this is the place where god Ganesh appeared in the form of ( Charvaha ) to take ATMALING from Ravan , black carved idol is amazing .

This temple is adjacent to the main Mahaleshwara temple where the head of Lord Ganesha is flattened, resembling the hit he received from Ravana when he put down the Atma Linga on ground.

Beautiful and unique baal Ganesh temple ! It is known that this baala ganesh is the reason for getting Atmalinga placed in Gokarna. Temple is small yet attractive due to unique idol. Trafdic and crowd due to narrow streets , No proper management of footwear's, makes it difficult to enter the temple.

Mirjan Fort is famous and you can visit if you are in Gokarna. You need to rent bike if you don't have vehicle. It is from national highway so it will be long easy ride. Fort is good to visit but we visited in Jan morning hours so later it was getting hot n humid else in good weather you can enjoy this place. It's like big fort surrounded by greenery.

I went to Mirjan Fort recently and it was dope! The fort is covered in green grass during the rainy season, which makes it look even more beautiful. It's free to enter, so you can bring your friends and family and have some fun exploring the grounds. There are a few restaurants and shops near the fort. I would definitely recommend visiting Mirjan Fort if you're in the area.

Beautiful fort in Gokarna, it’s very big. Most of the part of the fort is already gone. Few parts are still left and they look beautiful. The underground cells are closed for public. You are not allowed to fly drones here. You get enough parking, in peak seasons it might be tough to find near by parking. There are restrooms outside the fort but those were filthy and stinking badly. Looks like those are not being cleaned and maintained. There are small shops outside the fort which offer juices and fruits at affordable prices, those juices really help in a hot day. Do not forget to bring sunscreen and shades here.

Beautiful location. An ideal spot to get some awesome clicks. We visited during October (post monsoon) which is the right time as the fort will be filled with greenery. Avoid visiting in summer.

A fort which is in ruins but is a good visit due to its close proximity to the Highway. The best time though would be the monsoon months as the fort walls would be covered with grass and the greenery does magic to this monument. There's space to park vehicles beside the road as there is no dedicated parking space. There are a few stalls near the fort for refreshments. Entry to the fort is free.

It was like stepping into the pages of history and imagining the lives of those who once inhabited this majestic stronghold. It's a must-visit destination for history buffs, nature lovers, and anyone seeking to delve into the past.

This fort located just 400 mts from the NH. They don’t have a dedicated parking for this place but you have a lot of place in front of the port where you can comfortably park. Surprisingly entry is free. And while we were there it was showering light. So with that atmosphere this fort looks fabulous. I would rate this fort better than the one we have in Goa. You need solid 1.5 hr to cover the entire fort. This is a must visit place in Gokarna.

Great place to experience the history and see the remains. Please carry bottle or water and do not go on the edges of the fort as people have fallen and scummed to death as per locals update. Part of fort is under renovation and few places are barricaded. Drone flying requires local permission.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mirjan Fort during the rainy season, and it was a truly enchanting experience. The fort, located amidst the picturesque landscapes of Karnataka, takes on a whole new level of beauty during this time of the year. The vibrant flora that surrounds the fort seemed to come alive, creating a vivid contrast against the ancient stone structure. Accessibility was surprisingly good despite the rain. The paths were a bit muddy in places, but it added to the adventure of exploring this historical gem. Plus, the reduced crowds allowed for a more intimate and peaceful experience. I was pleased to see that Mirjan Fort has been well-maintained, even in the rainy season. There were no visible signs of damage or erosion due to the weather. This speaks volumes about the efforts put into preserving this historical site. Overall, my visit to Mirjan Fort during the rainy season was a memorable one. The combination of history, nature, and the rainy ambiance created a unique and unforgettable experience. If you're a fan of history and enjoy the beauty of the monsoon, I highly recommend adding Mirjan Fort to your travel itinerary.

Hello All Travel Lover ❤️ Beautiful fort in Gokarna, it’s very big. Most of the part of the fort is already gone. Few parts are still left and they look beautiful. The underground cells are closed for public. There are small shops outside the fort which offer juices and fruits at affordable prices, those juices really help in a hot day. Must bring sunscreen and shades here. Parking is available. Public washroom is available, but not clean. Photography and Videography is allowed. Don't fly Drones here. No entry fee. The fort is situated around 20-25 kms from Gokarna Main City. Best way to visit this fort would be hiring a two wheeler. The fort is very well maintained. It looks much more beautiful during the rainy season with all the greenery and moss. The entry fee is free.

A peaceful place located in Gokarna. The view inside the fort is very fascinating although it doesn’t have any entrance fee will be charged to visit this place. This place has a garden area. Many gates have been locked here or else visitors could roam just above the fort. You would require approximately 15-20 mins to look around the fort. Beside the majestic architecture, which can make a person hold a breath or two, there's very little inside to match that charm.

The best part is Way(road) for visiting Mirjan fort from gokarna is mesmerizing. and when you are visiting in monsoon then it is just heaven. I have visited in monsoon, have a look at a video which I have posted. If you are looking for a quiet place with some nature music then I suggest you must visit this fort. This fort is very old and it will take you to the old time vibes.

The fort looks cool in monsoon. There is nothing much inside the fort. There are wells and many are demolished. No entry charges for this fort. Many snack shops are available nearby where they sell lemon soda, packed items etc. the view from the top is good, good place for photo shoot. Visited this fort while returning back from Gokarna

Lovely place, must visit if you are in Gokarna. You will surely get the nostalgic and prehistoric feeling here. Best time to visit this place is September where fort is covered with lush green view. Try to visit during Morning and afternoon time, timings-8am till 5pm.

The best time to visit this fort is in monsoon. That's when the place is lush green n treat to eyes. The fort is nicely maintained. Also the place is not too crowded so you can easily roam around n explore the fort.

I visited the historical fort last weekend and I had a great time. The fort is well-preserved and has a lot of interesting exhibits and artifacts. The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. I learned a lot about the history and culture of the place. The fort also has a nice view of the surrounding area. I would recommend this fort to anyone who likes history and architecture.

It's an amazing fort built by the rulers of the Vijayanagara Empire. It has withstood the test of time and still stands tall and elegant. It will take you around 30 mins to walk around the fort. There are no entry tickets.

Best place to visit. If you are visit Gokarna do visit this place before visiting Yana caves. Out side of the fort there is a home stay. You can have a great breakfast over there. Worth visiting. Fort restoration work is in progress. Great work by AOI. Do visiting early morning here as noon might get hotter over. Parking is ample and free. I don't know much history about it but defence system was good of this fort as you can see a viaduct built accross its boundary.

It was a nice forte but now half of it is ruined. Some reconstruction works are going on. I imagined that during monsoon it will look much more beautiful as grass will be lush green and the fort wall will look dark black. No ticket is required till now. Small washroom for male and female available and it is almost clean.

Mirjan fort was built during Vijaynagara empire and was a strategic fort douth of Karwar. It was used as a port to export spices like pepper. Later on it went in the hands of Adilshahi, then to Nayaks, then to Marathas and lastly to Company Raj. The fort is mostly in good condition and majority of its walls are standing tall. Recently some restoration work is being done in the fort which is good for preserving this heritage.

The best place in Gokarna you wanna visit. I went there because the structure also offers the possibility to do surfing classes. It was my first time, but despite that and the size of the class (7) Sandeep was able to teach and follow everybody at different levels with engaging enthusiasm. The place has few rooms, very clean, spacious, and comfortable, and a common space with hammoks which allows for making new friends or relaxing alone in the shadow. A few steps from the sea, close enough to hear the waves but inside enough to be protected from the heat by the palms. Laundry service and great welcoming of the personnel. I miss that peace and friendly environment and will come back for sure. I can only give 5 stars! 🔝

Quiet and peaceful. Tucked away. The area around gets very dark in the night. So if you’re ok not getting out after dark or if you’re ok walking to restaurants in the dark, Cocopelli is great!

NOT RECOMMENDED!!!Misleading reviews! I want to write that honest review to save some people extreme disappointment which me and my mum experienced during our vacations! I am disappointed on how a guesthouse with so many great reviews and a higher price range can be so unpleasant to be in. It was the lowest point of our travel in India with my mum. We wanted to enjoy quiet and comfortable stay by the beach and from the very beginning we couldn’t relax. The first issue is that there is no direct vehicle access to the property which is not mentioned anywhere in the official description. This makes it very problematic with the luggage. Secondly, the path is in-between the farm fields and is very narrow with a few VERY narrow obstacles for the cows. It is difficult to pass it even for a small or normal sized person. A bigger person has a lot of issues with passing. The owner for his defense helped us with our heavy suitcases, but be careful as it might not be the case. In the guesthouse itself rooms are VERY basic and made without heart. We spent first 2 nights on an extremely hard bed. I mean literally a bed that feels like a hard floor. After 2 nights and a conversation we were able to change for THE ONLY softer bed (softer than the hard one, not soft) in the whole guesthouse, but the bathroom in that room was smelling really bad. On top of it there is no hot water in the shower. You can be provided with an immersion heater upon a request. A cherry on top of the cake was very loud constructions running in the guesthouse on the last floor above our heads which made it impossible to rest in peace for the first 2 days of our stay. The owner was trying to provide some solutions, but we didn’t feel right nor at peace at the place already due to too many disturbing issues appearing all the time. Be aware of all those things, because the reviews are very misleading in the case of Cocopelli guesthouse. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!

Cocopelli is a decent option to stay in if you are in Gokarna. The place is nearby to Gokarna beach - two mins walk. Cocopelli is full of Greenery and positivity. Must say it is well-maintained property, you have to walk for 5 mins from the main road to reach here. Rooms are basic, clean and you can enjoy beautiful views n the balcony. No AC but the place is full of O2. I am a comfort lover person so giving 4 stars else if you love to experience Ecostay and wanna be close to nature then you will love Cocopelli. Most Importantly Host Sandeep is the one who makes your experience the best in Gokarna. He helps you with everything and goes the extra mile to make sure you enjoy fully in Gokarna. His helping and chill attitude make you visit his place again. His sweet family is welcoming too🙂😊 If you wanna enjoy a clean beach and learn surfing then meet Sandeep. You can get rental bikes nearby n for taxis or autos, Sandeep can help.

Great place to learn surf and one of the best instructor (Sandeep) to have. They've got a sweet, chill spot in a lovely part of Gokarna. A must-visit if you're planning on learning to ride some waves.

A clean, aesthetically pleasing accommodation to rest your tired body after a long day of play at the Arabian Sea. The surfing classes that you can opt for is an icing on the cake. The long and serene beach lined with a variety of restaurants is just a few steps away from this lovely boarding. If you're looking for a get away with a mix of tranquility and action, Cocopelli is an apt choice. You will also find a buddy in Sandeep, the charming host and a superb surfing coach. Do try out Christoph, the French Cafe and Shankar's cafe while you're there.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cocopelli! The guesthouse is located less than a 1min walk from the beach and has a nice garden with hammocks in the front. The bedroom and bathroom were clean. Sandeep was very friendly and accommodating to our needs. We can only recommend this place to others!

Had a wonderful stay at Cocopelli. It's in a great location, close to the beach. The rooms are spacious, well decorated and clean and there are shady spots with hammocks in which to relax. The host Sandeep is exceptional; very friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Amazing stay. Sandeep was a chill person who got you places to be at and unique experiences. He’ll also help you out with your visiting plans and scheduling. He’s also very polite and friendly. The hammocks are amazing and you can sleep in them, the beach is very close. It’s the perfect hostel to stay in.

This was my first surfing school I've been to. And sandeep, taught me how to surf, he is the best coach. He's has so much knowledge about it, gave us session of safety, surfing also to know the tides to surf on it and much more. I had come for 3 sessions and, the first session i could not get the balance to surf. But from day 2, the fun began. I could learn it quickly and started applying all the lessons sandeep had taught about the surf , the board and the balance in between. I have finally learn how to surf within such a short span, all thanks to Sandeep for this❤️ See you next season🏄‍♂️

Quite close to the part of the beach that is quite clean and less crowded. The entrance was flooded due to rain. There are great cafes nearby. Going back from the beach to the place can get a bit confusing especially after dark as there are many lanes in between the bushes but this can be solved by placing a board with the place's name in front of the lane going to Cocopelli. Great place to chill and enjoy the beach.

Amazing place to stay if visiting Gokarna. For Surfing enthusiasts, definitely a recommendation to take lessons from Sandeep. A great host and it's very close to the main beach.

Oh my my! What a lovely place. It is a cozy abode walled by nature right next to the beach. The place is extremely warm and welcoming and immediately immerses you in Gokarna's beach culture. Sandeep is a great host and a great surfing instructor who warms you up with his hospitality and triples the fun with his surfing expertise. Would definitely stay here the next time I'm in Gokarna.

I recently stayed here in Gokarna and had a fantastic experience. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The internet is fast, and outdoor seating area was perfect for lounging or getting some work done. And it's just a short minute walk to the beach! The staff was friendly and the owner, Sandeep, is a great surf instructor if you're looking to learn while you're there. It's also far enough from the hustle and bustle of the town for a peaceful stay. I highly recommend this hotel if you're planning a trip to Gokarna!

I stayed there for two Nights and it was really nice experience. Best Place to stay and chill😎. Main Beach is at walking distance Sunset view is awesome from there. Overall it is peaceful place to spend your quality time. You can also learn surfing 🌊 from Mr. Sandeep (Host). He is certified trainer you will definitely enjoy your time in Cocopelli.

We booked a one night stay at Cocopelli and ended up staying for 10 days! The homestay is a little walk from the road (difficult to find in the dark!) but when you arrive it is a peaceful haven just a 1 minute walk from the beach. The section of the beach that it’s based on is our favourite beach in Gokarna. Very clean and quiet. Sandeep is a nice host and responsive over WhatsApp. The cleaning staff are amazing here our room was very clean.

I had already visited Sandeep and received some amazing surf tutoring from him too, but this was my first time staying at his beautiful place, so close to the beach but set back enough to be surrounded by peaceful rice paddys. The room was modern and clean and comfortable with a lovely balcony terrace area for each room. Sandeep is a warm, smart, funny and helpful guy and I could see the care he took to make sure all of his guests had everything they needed. Can’t recommend enough 😻

The hostel was very pretty and well maintained just like how hostels are supposed to be maintained. The host Sandeep is an amazing and helpful person who informed us about all the happening events around the beach during our stay. He is also a certified surf instructor and taught us to surf along with how to read waves. The beach is too close the the stay which is a plus point. All in all 10/10

Great little guesthouse in Gokarna. Situated beautiful between the palmtrees. Only a 2 minute walk to the beach with loads of cafes for food and drinks. Rooms are basic but good. Sandeep the host is a super chill and friendly guy who also gives surflessons. He showed us nice places to eat and even took us on a boat to see the sunset.

The location was really hard to find. If you’re planning to go at night please make sure your phone has enough battery as you have to go through a very narrow and dark trail Service wasn’t very good. They didn’t answer calls after 8pm for water. Please be careful around the stairs. You can easily fall Room was average, not that bad.

Cocopelli is one of beautiful guest house to stay in Gokarna. They do have a Surf school too and it is a must try experience if you visit Gokarna. Host Sandeep is too kind and a great host you’ll ever get to meet, he’s also a Surf instructor. I highly recommend Cocopelli , for sure you will have a great experience ☺️🤍

Google maps tell you exactly the same location but just 10-20 meters up-down. There is an arrow board that tells you the cave is 50metres away from here. This cave is very small & there is a Shivling inside the premises & very dark. It's recommended to go in a day time & before 5 pm else, at night you won't be able to find this place & obviously due to darkness inside you won't be able to see where & how to enter inside the cave. You will find frogs & snakes inside so keep checking your steps. Remove your shoes before entering the caves. & Kudle beach is very near to this place. So, you can explore both the place together.

If you like to meditate, then it's worth visiting the place... It's silent and the cave view from inside is awesome... It will take 5-10min to explore the cave, however if you like to meditate then it's up to you, the suggestion would be to come back before the sun sets... But you can take your time because Kudle beach is in a walkable distance from the cave so you can get local vehicles anytime...

Location is absolutely right at Gmaps. One visiting here should not be expecting a long cave but is a small one with no priest inside the Cave temple. ( probably due to COVID). Road leading to it will ensure bumpy ride but not worth as an experience. Since it's between Rocky mountain, one need to start walk navigation, once drive navigation is over.

Very peaceful and lovely place to meditate & it's near to kudle beach. Need a walk few minutes to reach here. Need a torch light to enter inside & there's Shiva temple inside cave. I took help from local auto guy to reach it.

Lesser known temple near kudle Beach.. Road is not in good condition. Better to visit this place if u have your own or rented vehicle. U need to walk around 50mts to reach the cave and get down 3 stairs and proceed inside the cave which is bit dark n soon you can see a small temple . It's littered inside which is a sad thing. Few bats ll be flying around but nothing to get panic. Avoid this space if you have toddler or aged people within group.

This is an easy ,very easy short walk, approximately 5 minutes from the main path from zostel, gokarna to sunset point. You cannot miss it, it's well marked as well. Once you reach, you can easily walk into the cave. You should have a torch to see around. The phone torch is not enough. Though the cave has an opening, which has light but not enough for you to see the cave completely. It was astonishing to find a wind surf mat inside the cave. Their is also another deity, just as you enter the main cave on the right side. Yes, there are bats, but do not be afraid , they mean no harm. If you are staying in main beach gokarna, it is a place which should not be missed. Their is no information board displayed nor anyone was their to explain about the origin/ genesis of the cave. Adding this with the sunset point is a better idea. If you look around, you may find a group of frogs, intersting species.

I will suggest you to not go alone. Cuz inside the cave it was really dark. From above the ground there is a hole so little light goes inside the cave . When we reached there no one was there and we were scared to enter but we entered. There was a weird smell. Going there was an adventure for us and it was astonishing that it was made inside deep in the ground .

This is my personal favourite place in the whole of Gokarna. A very underrated place but a very beautiful place and inside is the temple of Mahadev. There are bats 🦇 inside but they are harmless so please don’t surprise them when u visit the place.

You should definitely visit this cave and sit there for at least five minutes and meditate. It is so quiet that you can hear your heart beat once you are settled. The location is a bit tricky. There is only a small board which mentions "Shiva Cave"

Magical place with crazy energy, this beautiful light and a small shrine inside. In the smaller cave there are some cute little bats. There were some rugs to sit around the fireplace, but nobody was there at the time I visited.

This was one off beat place I happened to see in Gokarna and I was literally blown away by the beauty of it. Its a small cave in which a small besutiful Shiv mandir is built. It has got smazing positive devine vibes. We felt truly blessed to be here. If you have a spiritual side, do visit it and feel the beauty of it.

Mysterious cave with such amazing light beam on the top. It is perfect for meditations, sound meditations and observations. Better to bring soft mattress or blanket for comfortable sitting. For the offerings- essential sticks, money, flowers, fruits. Must have for visiting.

Off beat and most underrated place in Gokarna !! Not sure why it hasn't given popularity , bcz it's been naturally built and shows you different level landscape. There 2 ways whichbhave a markings and sign boars: One opposite to Resort Om beach to kudle beach road and another Gokarna - Kudle beach road. It doesn't seems to be as bigger as it looks from outside but inside its spacious and people have built a small shiv temple inside this. I guess this place is suited for Maga Shiva 😁🙏 as ts seculed, peace and calm. At the entrance it looks bit scary and you might encounter some bats but its okay. I went there inside alone on mid day and avoid visiting in rainy season as it might filled with rain water and slippery.

Cave is very small but inside you can visit the lord siva . I think inside way to other sides of cave are closed. But from outside it is bit difficult to find the cave even though it is 50 meters.

My friend Manola and I, both yoga teachers for several years, during our last trip to India decided to do a short 50-hour training in this center. a bit chosen by chance, we can say that nothing better could have happened to us! the teachers are young but very prepared and dedicated to making you learn as much as possible despite the limited time. a special thanks to our Yin Yoga trainer (the specialization we attended during our stay in the center) Alberto. Alberto, who has studied with some of the international Yin Yoga experts, is a highly trained and generous teacher. for us, being able to also share the same native language was an even greater point in being able to enter even more deeply into the subject. his lessons are intense, the cues very specific but easy to understand. as a teacher he gives a lot. regarding the location, gokarna is wonderful, the beaches and walks along the forest are a gift for the soul. the food in the center is really delicious. only flaw was our room. although closer to the beach, we were not staying in the yoga village (not that we had known this before arriving) but in some bungalows which were very nice in themselves, but in a slightly shabby area behind another hotel structure. to reach it we had to go through a gate with barbed wire (?! in the dark I'll explain how beautiful it is..) and unfortunately we had many visits from cockroaches. maybe secure accommodation in yoga village. then clearly we are in India so shanti! 🙏🏻

I can really recommend this Yoga school. I did my 300 hour YTTC and practice since many Years Yoga. This school is just amazing and holistic. I had learned a lot about Ayurveda and Yoga therapy. The SHY team is very polite and professional. The place is just magical, beautiful. Thank you again, I hope to come back again!

I did my 300 hours of multy style yoga training here. For me it was the perfect mix between professional, familiar, structured and at the same time room for individual wishes. Yoga is my great passion, and the different teachers, fellow students and the atmosphere have reinforced this. I wanted to do the training just for myself, but afterwards I started to teach a little. Thank you for the wonderful memories, the knowledge, the unique encounters, the precious time.

I Registered for a week of Yin yoga teacher training After a couple of full days of learning and integrating into the intensive program I knew I had to upgrade to the 100 hr program.The teachers are all very professional and highly educated in their field so the classes were of superior quality. The food was incredible and the living space was comfortable and peaceful. I felt the intimate small classes allowed more of a personal experience creating close awareness of each student’s needs.By the end of two weeks I feel like I am leaving old friends but well equipped to teach this fascinating branch of yoga, Thank you Shree Hari Yoga!

I did a 50h yin yoga ttc at the Shree Hari School in Gokarna and it was a wonderful experience. The training is well structured and organized and the teachers are prepared and dedicated. The meals are excellent and the girls in the kitchen are very attentive to your needs. The school is located a few steps from the beautiful Kudle beach and you can easily reach Om beach or the town of Gokarna with a nice walk. If you are looking for the perfect place to yoga train you’ve found it at Shree Hari Yoga. Everyone is beyond nice and supportive. The training is very thorough and professional. The accommodations are nice and the food they serve is amazing. And the staff will help you with anything. And being right next to a beautiful beach doesn’t hurt at all. I can’t recommend this school enough. They changed my life forever.

I came here for my 200 hour multi style training and I had the best time! This was my first time coming to India, and my first solo trip. I'm really glad I chose Gokarna for my stay because it was so peaceful. The beach was nearly empty every day. I think all of the teachers were great (special shoutout to Saurav). I am really satisfied with the quality of the education and asana practice I received.

I had an amazing stay at Shree Hari Yoga school, doing a 100h Teacher training in Pranayama and Meditation in December 2023. What made my stay there very special was the quality of teaching, all teachers were very dedicated and had profound experience, they were also open to questions and discussions. Thanks to them I learned a lot and left feeling truely inspired and grateful. Daily theory classes included philosophy, anatomy and art of teaching, each day startet at 6.30 with pranayama classes. Besides, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha, Restorative Yoga and Meditation were offered according to students' curriculums. I especially appreciated how the school accomodated students' wishes when setting up classes and schedules. At the time I was there we were 9 students and 6 teachers, and even one-on-one classes were made possible if only one student would be interested in a class. The premises include one large shala and two other open spaces where classes are conducted. Students' accomodation is in bungalows (shared by two or single) with own bathrooms, which are basic but have all you need. Delicious meals are also cooked on site. The surroundings are beautiful and serene, the school is surrounded by green nature, the beach is 5 minutes walking distance and has some restaurants, Gokarna is a 20 minutes hike away. I can highly recommend this school, my only regret was not staying longer :-) Thank you!

I went to Shee hari Gokarna for a 100 hr Yoga vinyasa and I have to say that it was an outstanding experience. It is a quiet place to connect with ourselves, awesome education (specially Saurav, with whom I spent most of the time). The place is beautiful and close to a beach, which is most of the time empty so it make it very enjoyable.

I did the 200hrs YTT here and had an amazing experience. The course was quite holistic and the teachers are knowledgeable. I had a great time learning and exploring yoga here and would recommend to anyone looking to practice yoga in Gokarna.

I spent 2 weeks with Shanti Yoga School at Om Beach. it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Tristan has a beautiful energy and his classes are wonderful. The shala is set back from the beach in the trees amidst birds and monkeys. It is a unique location to start your yoga journey.

Happened upon Tristan at his Shala while looking for a drop in class and while they weren’t yet ready for drop ins as they had just openned the centre they invited us in warmly. The class was excellent with many corrections skillfully given. Enjoyed so much we returned each morning and took part in an evening chanting ceremony during the full moon. Such lovely and charming people.

I feel lucky and honoured to have the opportunity to share and spread the yoga knowledge in this place 🙏
