Amazing place to visit. The views at sundown are just fantastic. There is are steps leading to the first viewing point, it's just some minutes. Then you can freely walk through the canyon but there is not any kind of safety whatsoever so I would strongly recommend shoes and not sandals. If you like stunning natural views and some climbing/trekking, then you do not want to miss this place. Really easy to get here on a scooter.

Amazing place! View is simply stunning! We came in the late afternoon to catch the sunset but it's quite crowded though. If you're willing to, climb in deeper and you can avoid most of the people. Closes at 7pm but should be dark by then so no point going too late. Theres some simple food and drink places when you exit out at the end! Be prepared for the walk! And i would highly recommend climbing to the further in spots as well! Worth it!

It's such a cool place to visit. I'd say go early, bring some lunch, and spend a couple hours walking up and down the canyon. Beautiful scenery and an enjoyable climb, be warned it can be slippery.

A truly magical place. The perfect spot to watch the sun go down over the mountains albeit it gets very busy at this time. If you suffer from vertigo or a fear of heights, it might not be the place for you as it's an open cliff / edges all around. Also perfect for hiking in the early morning to catch the sunrise over the mountains on the opposite side. Much quieter at this time. The routes are very slippery sand / gravel so wear correct footwear. Cannot express how beautiful it is in just words so hopefully my photos do justice.

Free entry, get some beers and go watch the sunset. Wear trainers as you'll probably want to climb a bit to get the best shot! We only went at sunset but it's open all day and you can explore the area. Take water if you do, it's out in the open and gets hot!

Very nice sunset here. It is quite busy because a lot of tourists will take a bus or taxi to the canyon for the sunset. We had a bike so we just made our way over. We didn’t pay anything for this. I think if you go on the bus or taxi obviously would have to pay them. It was nice and relaxing. Just find the right spot with not as many people. Very beautiful!

Would definitely recommend visiting the Pai Canyon! Not too much if a walk to see the stunning view! No entry fee either! Some a very nice spot to get some food and a coffee just at the road too which I would also recommend!

Nice place for sunset/sunrise. Good spot to take some photos and relax. Not too many steps to the top, would recommend wearing proper shoes as parts can be slippy and you need to use your hands to help your balance

Pai Canyon is always an amazing place, especially for golden hour and sunset. It gets sketchy in some places along the canyon so you can really explore as much or as little as you want. The hills around the canyon are stunning. Id assume sunrise is also beautiful there. If you have a fear of heights or anything like that just be prepared for some cliffs and long drops

Amazing place with a magnificent view! If you come in daytime there isn't to much people there so you can walk around in peace just enjoying the breathtaking views! Yeah the path have steep edges, but it is more that enough room to move around safely! The entry is free and there are so many different paths you can take. There is a lot of small shops and restaurants at the entrance!

It's a very exciting attraction and I don't think it's so high that it makes my legs tremble, if you come in the evening. You will find a very beautiful sunset.

The views for the sunset are stunning, but the crowds can make the picturesque views a little tainted. I would recommend shoes if you plan on hiking around the area and the cliffs are sheer and there are no rails. Sunrise are beautiful however they are rare as the fog most days will cloud out any view of the sun leaking over the hills in the canyon. It is always lovely to visit and even worth a wonder in the middle of the day when it’s less busy. Plenty of food and drink at the base of the canyon which is 100m from the canyon itself.

I love this place. Very popular among tourist due to the nice view there. It's on the way to Pai on the exit of the mountain when you come from chiang Mai. The travel there by car is challenging due to the mountain road condition but if you are careful and have a decent car it should not be a problem. Entrance is free, you can admire the scenery from several spot. Remember to wear adequate shoe if you want to go to some part of the Canyon as you may have to climb (a little) or go on to narrow path to cross over. Nothing extremely dangerous but be careful of slippery. There are small food and snack shop at the entrance of the Canyon where you can refill first and go into the stairs for 2min walk until you reach the top of the Canyon.

Beautiful views, but the place is frankly unsafe. Free entrance. Narrow gravel walkways with sheer drops. Would recommend visiting with closed shoes.

Amazing place and hike around the area, take enough water if you are planning to hike around. You get dusty when climbing! I saw some people doing also in flip flops, would recommend proper shoes or barefoot. And better if you are not afraid of heights

Incredible place to visit! The canyon is beautiful and the views are stunning. If you have a drone you can get amazing footage here. You can climb down the canyon and there are some different route options. Some are quite tricky, messy so be prepared! Wear old clothes and good shoes!

I went there by scooter, the ride is not difficult, but there are not much parking lot out there, you may find a space to park since many tourists go there by minivan / day touring. The view is stunning. The hike is reasonably difficult. Prepare your running shoes / hiking shoes if you want to go further for a better view. Toilet charges 5baht each tho.

The views on the canyon are truely amazing! Makes sense that this site is highly rated by visitors. However, if you wanna go hiking here please mind that in dry season you have to bring solid footwear, because the loose sand is really slippery and you need to be careful not to fall. I’m an experience walker, but came here on sneakers and didn’t dare to take the full hike. It was simply too dangerous at some points.

Nice Valley, if you want to explore everything you will have to do some light climbing. The Sandstone will make your clothes dirty. Beautiful sunset a litttle bit crowded but if you go far inside you can find a spit without too many people.

It's a must for every tourist that comes to Pai. Beautiful at sunset, although it can get a little bit busy. And not very recommendable for those who suffer vertigo from heights! It can get a little bit dangerous the path so be careful. Btw it is free.

Amazing view! Bit dangerous since it was very crowded, one some areas you could not pass eachother and I was a little scared of accidentally bumping someone off, so we stayed on 'solid' ground rather than try and get to another vantage point. Highly recommended to visit at sunset, crowded but still fairly easy to find a good, safe spot

Nice natural hot spring water about 12km from the city , 300 baht per person. There is shower available, there river is clean and warm, even local prefer here . Best time is early morning or evening. It’s not 24 hours!!!

Beautiful areas. Very well kept. Nice to bathe in the hot springs. Showers are in condition too. Minus one point as the hottest hot spring had a sign saying 36 degrees but my watch said it was more like 44 degrees. Make sure to take water with you.

The cascaded and artificial pools were really hot, some pools were body or lower temperature to cool off. The park is not big by any means, a short circuit to pools for swimming as well as to close to boiling spots for check out. The downsides are that the entrance is pretty expensive at 300 baht, which is more than most national parks at 200 baht, and that showers (which were supposed to be cold for cooling off) were not working at all.

Definitely worth a stop off for a few hours of relaxation. There are a few pools with varying temperatures - all pretty warm-hot. Facilities are good with decent showers and toilets. Why 4 stars? The artificial pools could be a bit cleaner but overall I recommend a visit for a relaxing experience.

Seeing the original hot springs and little streams was cool, although the place is pretty touristic. Prices for foreigners are absolutely crazy. Don’t go in dry time, cause the wells will be 40+ degrees and not really full.

Hot, hot, hot! This place has such hot water! A proper hot spring. After paying to get in (200 baht I believe) you walk about 300 meters to the pools and this place has many of them. You can walk to the mineral baths or up to the source of the spring which doesn't smell pleasant but is bubbling at around 80°. Be sure to bring water, changing station located on premises.

Supreme! Go here when in Pai! Healing waters. I didn’t see any tourists only local Thai people. I think it cost 300 baht to get in but it’s well worth it. Multiple different pools at different temperatures All natural you can see the source of the hot spring coming out of the Earth 300 meters up the hill and trickling down in a stream to the pools.

Nice place! 300 baht entry fee for adults and parking is available. Quite a few people but wouldnt call it crowded. The furthesr part at the top is just a walk through as the water temperature there is 80 degrees celcius. Signages around saying no boiling of eggs though i still see people doing it. At the bottom area, there are tiers to bath in and it gets slightly cooler the lower you go with the highest point being 36 degrees celcius. Ensure to take a break in between or else you may get a heat stroke! There are simple facilities nearby to wash up when you are done! Wouldnt recommend coming in the peak of noon since it's hot and you're bathing in hot water.

I didn’t expect there is a natural hotspring in Thailand! I am a hotspring enthusiast and i love visiting hotspring everywhere i travel. This hotspring costs 300Baht entrance fee to traveler. They did not charge me the scooter parking fee. The view is not bad, i got time to walk up to Tha Pai Hotspring spot to see the water flows out from the ground! Mother of Nature! The water from the toppest pool looks most clean tho, i am not dare to jump into the rest of it even they have a cooler temperature. The vibe is great and i recommend people to visit the hotspring in the morning or evening as the weather goes cooler.

Since you'll probably drive the concrete bridge beside it....why not stop to walk across this memorial bridge? If you imagine really hard, you'll feel that you are actually on a bridge built there in WWII

It was very very hot when I went, middle of Thai Summer. Probably better to go in the morning or evening if you are looking for a photo session. Some of the informational banners are ripped which is why I have given it one less star.

Popular bridge in Pai for selfies/ wefies. Be very careful while walking down there as the platform is not stable. Watch out for rotten wooden floorboards. A historical bridge linking Chiang Mai and Pai, built with elephants used to bring trees from the jungle. Burnt down by the Japs as they retreated when the Allies had the upper-hand.

Nice little stop when your out and about on the scooter, we went to the Canyon, here and then on to Two Huts which was a nice little loop from our farmstay. The history of the bridge is really interesting, daring back to the Japanese occupation in WW2, the Pai people were forced to build the then wooden bridge for the Japanese offensive towards the then Burma which was a british colony. Theres information boards with photos on one side of the bridge. There's plenty of parking space, a few stalls either side of the bridge and a toilet available for 5baht just down the embankment, clean and there's tissue available to buy if you don't have any (always have a pack of tissues or loo roll if your travelling around Thailand especially in the countryside.

A place of some historical significance. You can park on either side, there's some history and pictures.

It's a nice place to take some photographs and stretch your legs. There are quite a few souvenir stalls that are surprisingly, not selling at cut throat prices. In fact, most of the rest stop stalls we've been to sell cheaper or equivalent to town prices.

It's not that far from Pai, I went there on a scooter. It took me like 15 minutes to get there. Also, I went there relatively early in the morning, say 10 ish... And luckily it was a cloudy day. It is a beautiful place to see. It would be a little draining to go there in scorching heat. No tickets, no booking, as of now.

The Pai Historic Bridge is a charming piece of history that offers visitors a glimpse into the past. It's a simple, wooden bridge with an arched design, surrounded by picturesque scenery. It's a good starting point to know the history of Pai. Japanese soldiers forced locals to build a bridge here during WW2 to prepare the war in Burma.

It’s a nice bridge and there’s a part where you can read the history of it. For the rest (at least when I was there) there’s no stands and only one restaurant on the other side of the bridge. Not a bad view though!

Its a small herbal garden with a restaurant, coffee and herbal juices but it was closed when we there. Great of them to try to create a natural herbal garden to promote green earth.

This place is closed forever. You can only find a cafe/tea shop there.

Wat Phra That Mae Yen, about 2 kilometers from Pai District, is a sacred temple of Pai for a long time. The temple area is quiet and shady, with a highlight on the large white Buddha image. And you can see the sun here, it's very beautiful.

The White Buddha is just 30min walk from the main road. Go in the morning or later in the afternoon. So you don't need to do all the stairs with the sun. They open 6 am till 6 pm. Remember to bring appropriate clothes covering shoulders and knees. Otherwise you can rent there to cover yourself.

simple yet elegant Wat with an amazing view of of the Pai Valley. there are stairs leading up from the main road and you can also drive up. several additional buildings on site are under construction. the big buddha itself is lovely.

The good point is the view of the city. The statues were mostly is a bad shape, with crackling and some parts lost. Avoid coming between 11-14h: too hot and the stairs will make you regret. Quite empty and calm despite being very close of the city (around 6 min with a motorcycle from the city ‘center’)

About 2000 years Buddha statue, located up hill and watches over Pai little city. You need to climb about 300 stairs up there, but the view and air worth it.

A big white Buddha statue overlooking Pai, amazing views and a great place to watch the sunset! But please be aware of religious customs and make sure to wear pants and shirts, nothing that’s showing too much skin.

Little Greece with Thailand vibes🇹🇭🇬🇷 Rooms are comfortable, nice balcony and staff is very friendly. Delicious breakfast 🍳 they have transfer from the hotel to the Night market which is very convenient. Good impression!

It's a long climb up for the unfit but the view! Just an observation, but this is considered a sacred ground, so while it might look like a nice wide floor area and the hike up might have been tiring, respect the place enough not to sprawl all over the floor. Oh, and you need to remove your footwear at the top of the stairs.

Buddha overlooking Pai, excellent viewpoint and perfect to watch the sunset setting over the hills, you have to take some steps up the stairs to reach the top, the place is not in the best shape and there are some cracks in the statue, still worth the visit.

I walked here from Pai town, it is definitely doable. There are a lot of stairs and a little temple area at the bottom. You can rent wraps to walk up to the Buddha if you are not covered. The views are nice. You can also do this as part of a full day or half day tour. I read a book for over an hour in the meditation area under the shade in the temple grounds

Thailand is my " Land of Superlatives " , and so my 5 Star reviews are consistent with superlative experiences, special beauty, gracious Thai people. So start with placing flags as markers all over the mountains surrounding Pai and allow for Supreme guidance leading to the location here for this surreal shrine. That process is worth 5 Stars and this location is beyond belief. The setting Sun is eye level across a long valley and what a spectacular way to Segway into dusk and darkness 🌟. Walk the stairs, the steps, get to the top and feel a rare transformation of self on the upper level/ uppermost landing

We would come up here everyday for admiring the view. The best thing in Pai, without a doubt. It sits like a distant dream in the mountains, and you can’t help but be attracted to it. As you ascend the white steps, each step has a fantastic carved animal into the railing which then transforms into these mythical Buddhist and seemingly Hindu symbols. At the top the beauty sits and is growing a shrub bush in between its fingers. It’s quite a sight to see. There’s a place for rentals for women’s skirts. And there’s no fee to enter but you should definitely remove your shoes at the top, as with all temples.

A relaxing place for meditation or freeing your mind. Reachable by foot, bikes or scooters. There are a lot of stairs to walk up.

It's a basic waterfall ! There's nothing to see here, but lots of Western tourists hogging up the water space. I was in and out within 10 minutes. You can get some nice pictures of the surrounding rock formations and caves. It's 100 Baht to enter. It's worth it to go and check it out.

Beautiful waterfall, Pam Bok Waterfall is a waterfall located in a gorge. Go inside on both sides. There are rocks wrapped around both sides. There are 2 waterfalls, front and inside. In front is a small waterfall.

It’s a really nice place to read in the morning. Sadly I came to Pai on the dry season so there was not much of a waterfall, but on the good side…there was no ticket entrance so: free!

We visited at the end of April and the place is very dry. There is no waterfall to see at this moment. The good part is that the is no entrance fee to get in at this time of the year, so you can go in to observe the rock formations and canyon where the waterfall normally is if you pass by in the area. There are restrooms which aren't serviced for the moment. The water isn't nice enough to swim in for the moment.

Pros : A must see in the city accordingnto tourists experts Beautiful waterfall and you can even swim in it. Away from the hassle bussle of the city For the price you have access to other places like Lod Cave, Ngam hotspring and I think you should definetly go to these prices so it's worth the 400 Baht you spend. Attention because for those other places you will still have to pay for the parking fee if you are coming with a motorbike (around 30 Baht each times) Cons : 400 Baht for the entrance fee, it can be a little too much especially if you don't plan to go to the other places included. Only 5 minutes walk to get to the water fall, no real hiking unfortunately .

Beautiful waterfall that sits 100m in from the entry point, so there is no need for a hike. The waters are cold so would be perfect after the bamboo bridge to cool off in. Whilst the waterfall is picturesque and Instagram worthy, I think the 200 Baht entry fee is steep and you may struggle to spend more than 15-30 mins here.

Not a lot of water and the pathway is only 5 minutes so I was in and out in about 15 minutes. Still, it was a nice first stop if you are continuing up the road like me!

Just a very normal waterfall which is not worth the 400 baht per pax for tourist. If you insist on entering for a splash or photo taking, just negotiate the price down to 50-100 baht.

A fairly basic waterfall but we loved it! Short walk to it. You have to pay for entrance and it was quite busy when we went but worth it as part of a Pai tour. We would recommend!

Tiny waterfall, not worth the visit and definitely not the 100 baht payment. The waterfall before the entrance is the same almost to the one inside.

Went around noon time and we had the whole place to ourselves. The water was cool and refreshing. By 2pm, few other tourists started arriving. Almost worth the 200THB if you are going to swim. If you just want to see the falls and take pics, then it's not worth the money. FYI, the ticket covers the entry fee for Pam Bok falls and Pai Hot Springs.

Nice walk through the forest to the waterfall. The path is entirely paved with concrete steps, so it’s built for mass tourism rather than for preserving the natural ambiance of nature. The waterfall itself is nice and you can swim in the pool if there’s enough water. 200 baht for foreigners. 🙄

It is rare to see a waterfall like this. The foreign price is a bit much. The entry fee is also for other spots. Just for this place only, there is no listed price. Had a Thai guy speaking English to ask to enter to take photo, then we were lucky… they gave us a break, 10 minutes to take photos, no swimming. 100baht/person. That was worth it. It turned out to my favor. I did not bring a swim suit. But then again that is the only highlight.

Tourist trap! Foreigners are being charged 400THB to visit a waterfall that’s really not that special.

We had a fantastic time here, choosing to stay overnight in the cabins and do the walk with the elephants the next day. Thom genuinely cares about the elephants and I saw nothing but love for these animals. It was my bucket list experience walking then swimming in the river with them. Hearing a cheerful trumpet from one of the elephants whilst in the river was something that will stay with me. Please support Thom and her elephants 🐘 ❤️🐘

Again, don’t believe the bad reviews here. There are many elephant sanctuaries around Thom’s that tourists mistake for this sanctuary (because they are not on google maps). Ike was our guide and he is an absolute gem. Elephants were treated well and cared for by all staff. Also unless you actually take a tour here idk why anyone passing by would make a bad review of this place based on casual observations; I spoke to the owner and it’s very hard on their business.

I come to this camp since 25 years and have been here many many times. Mostly I stay around for several weeks because I love it so much. I do not recognise what people say in the bad reviews at all. I know that they go back to the jungle to sleep there every day. During the day they are kept closer to the street under a really big roof for shadow. Never in chains! So people who write that definitely must write about another place. In the daytime, they go freely to the jungle or to the river several times to also eat there. Also if there are no people to join them to play in the river.

A wonderful experience! Thom and her team are knowledgeable and truly care for their elephants. Thom will answer any question and explain how they train and care for the animals. Upon arrival the elephants are in the roadside stables, waiting for the tour to begin. This is necessary as they take a while to move locations (elephants love a snack and get distracted, so the handlers need to allow the time for this). We did the sunset 2 hour tour which was perfect. After getting to know both elephants we walked with them to the nearby River, splashed around and watched the elephants simply enjoy a cool down. Then we came back through the camp and up the hill behind to watch the sun go down. Thom and the team timed it perfectly! Ethical and kind, this place exceeded my expectations. We were just a small group so the elephants were not crowded and at no point I felt they were overwhelmed. I emailed in advance to book and paid by card. Thank you Thom for a wonderful experience 🐘

My child and I experienced sitting on an elephant’s back for a total of no more than 30 seconds and was charged 400 baht. I finally paid to take care of the elephant. During the epidemic, it is difficult for elephants to find food, but the owner should not arbitrarily ask for the price, and hope that the tourists behind can attract attention.

Thom’s elephant camp is absolutely amazing! I went on a private tour for my birthday and got to spend a few hours with the elephants, staff and volunteers. The elephants are treated so well and are such happy elephants! They have big personalities, quite different from one another, but are so sweet and gentle around visitors. I love that the elephants weren’t chained up, and it’s pretty funny, bc the entire time, they have the ability to let themselves out of their gated area near the road. The elephants let them selves out of the gated area for the start of our walking tour. At night they sleep in the fields and LOVE to eat! The camp gets volunteers from around the world all year long to help take care of the elephants and facilities. The staff was so kind and great to be around. Thom’s family have been elephant caretakers for many generations, and they are so knowledgeable with elephants and their behavior. Their communication with the elephants is amazing. Make sure to add this to your bucket list if you ever visit Pai, Thailand! Thank you Thom and staff for a wonderful birthday! It will be one I will never forget!

We had a great time at Thom’s elephant camp! The staff were all so friendly Ike our tour guide was fun and humorous and very knowledgeable about the elephants and their care and temperament. It was one of lifetime opportunity. We got to to go on the day long tour where we got to walk with the elephants, feed them, bathe them in the river. Our bungalow was lovely and spacious the lunch and the breakfast there was great Thai food. It was a great experience. The elephants are truly cared for there at the camp.

Thom's Pai Elephant Camp is absolutely FANTASTIC. The elephants are loved and treated very well. You can stop in and make a donation and feed the elephants, it's awesome. But if you can do the overnight stay, it will be one of the highlights of your life. Seriously, it was so awesome I can't believe it. Definitely treat yourself to the two-hour elephant package, it's so worth it. You won't believe how close you are to them! The cabin was super clean, nice bed, and there's AC but also the windows have excellent screens so we slept with them open. It's soooo relaxing there. Take a soak in the mineral springs tubs (included in the room fee!). The breakfast was delicious. The staff are super friendly - special thanks to Ae for being such a fantastic host. She went above and beyond, to make our stay absolutely perfect.

I want to give this place a 4 star since the elephants and staff are really nice and friendly, but the tours are not really that good. We stayed in Thom’s elephant camp in the bungalow, and we took 1 hour river tour with a tour guide and two other staff. When we got ready to go to the river the tour guide was not very informative and didn’t tell us any background information about the elephants. He brought with him two other people that had been before to the river tour, so he would mostly just talk to them during the walk to the river and after the river and didn’t talk to us. When we got the river it seemed like he was in a rush, he instructed where we should stand and feed them the bananas, and then he just disappeared in his own world and wasn’t there with us. I understand if there is other people in the tour and that you can’t talk to them all but it was only me and my partner going to the river tour. After we had given them bananas we didn’t know what would happen next. Since the tour guide didn’t say anything to us, and was just interested in taking photos with the elephants. It wasn’t that nice since we came to the river tour to get a glimpse of the elephants life. The other two guys that were there was way more informative and showed us that it was time for them to wash and where to brush them, but we didn’t get any information about the elephants still. The tour guide was busy taking pictures of the elephants and ignored talking to us, is nice that he seem to have a good relationship with the elephants but he didn’t tell us anything about the elephants and their story. When we were done with the river tour he just said “okay let’s get back” and that was it. We also asked him if he took any pictures but he said “aah no sorry, I don’t take any pictures I just do the tours” although he took photos of the elephants, because that was the only thing he did, I were thinking are you a photographer or a tour guide? There should be improvements of the tour, more background information about the elephants. It cost 1400 baht/person to take the river tour and I personally don’t think it’s worth it because the tour guide is lacking to give information and doesn’t seem interested in doing the tours. I give it three stars just because the elephants seems happy and it was nice going to the river with them. Although I would recommend you going to another elephant sanctuary, since the tour guide need improvements.

A lot of sanctuaries say they are ethical but you never really know until you get there. Well Thom's Elephant Camp is a fantastic place where the animals are treated with utmost respect and care. Our guide, Ike, was incredibly knowledgeable, enhancing our experience significantly. His love for the Elephants was evident in how he communicated with and cared for them. He’s American so having someone that spoke English was also really great! I went in not knowing what to expect and ended up learning a lot about the amazing creatures. Definitely an all-time experience!

What an amazing experience! So great to spend time with the elephants in a natural and ethical way. Definitely go for the 2 hour tour - well worth it. Also don’t confuse it for the place across the street, Thom’s is the ethical elephant camp, many reviewers confuse the 2 which is why some reviews seem negative

Awful place. I just visited to see if I could interact ethically with elephants but saw that the elephants are tied up and clearly sick, both physically and mentally. Do not go here unless you want to give money to abuse elephants.

We have just spent 2 wonderful nights at Thom’s elephant camp. Please don’t believe all the negative comments, go for yourself and see the care that is given to the elephants by Thom and her family. The camp across the road is not part of Thom’s and sadly they don’t look as well treated. The setting is beautiful, the cabins have spacious baths with hot spring water as well as the outdoor hot spring pools on the premises. We took the morning tour walking with the elephants, feeding and interacting with them. The scenery was stunning with the mountains as a backdrop. It was such a wonderful experience walking alongside the elephants at their pace with Thom giving us lots of interesting information. The highlight for me was washing them in the river and hearing their happy trumpets. An unforgettable experience and we wouldn’t have wanted to do it anywhere else. Thank you Thom for your kind hospitality.

We visited this sanctuary today and can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. I was amazed at how well the elephants are treated and the tour guides especially Ike as he spoke english explained to us how the elephants get loads of free time to eat and wash themselves. You can see it from a mile away that the elephants are well loved and look after. They are so gentle with you when you feed them which suggest further how they feel comfortable and safe. Cant recommend this place enough if your in Pai you must visit this place. Great day

We drove past this place today by accident and when we saw the elephants we were so amazed but then we very quickly noticed how they are not cared for properly. A few days ago we went to an elephant sanctuary in the mountains where the elephants can roam freely and you can see they are very happy and healthy. These elephants are kept right at the side of the road in tiny little pens where they can just about turn around. There were markings on the body of the elephant we saw up close which looked like cuts from rope tied too tightly. Would not recommend you come here at all, it is definitely not an ethical decision.

This place is fabulous. Don't believe the bad reviews. Thom's elephant camp is unfortunately located nearby other elephant tourist grabs that are not kind to their elephants, but Thom's is different. Thom's elephant camp is ethical and their two beautiful domestic elephants are so loved and cared for. This is the best way to see elephants up close and in a ethical way, along with lovely knowledgeable guides around you. Thom's camp was extremely accommodating fitting us in last minute and being very flexible when my partner came down sick, this is not a tourist grab! Thom's elephant camp want you to experience the elephants and love them the way they do. The price is very reasonable, the elephants are very happy and cheeky, and Pai is a beautiful backdrop for this incredible experience. Thank you Thom's elephant camp for a memory i will never forget ❤️

I had the most magical experience with Tutdao & Ott. Two beautiful gentle giants who live at the Elephant Camp. Thom and his team take great care of their elephants and it’s very clear these two are well loved and cared for. If you’re looking for an ethical elephant experience, come see Thom.

Absolutely amazing experience. The tour Gide had a strong, passionate Interest in the elephants and can tell he really cares about them. Any questions we asked were responded with an educated, well informed answer. Not too far from Pai center so nice and easy to get to on the motorcycle. Elephants are kept in safe, secure enclosures when not being walked or bathed so it’s a shame people have written bad reviews from just driving past, and other reviews are talking about a different elephant that is across the road and not linked at all to Thom. Thom is Very lovely and showed us to the hot spring tubs and provided us towels. No riding at all making the whole experience a highlight of the trip so far while still being ethical and safe. Thank you very much to the whole team for making this so fun and would definitely return.

An amazing experience and would highly recommend this. Such Greta value for money and great staff. Opt for the one or two hour option, walk with the elephants from after 3pm. Wash them in the river and enjoy watching them roam freely. I didn't see or experience any safety issues. I opted for this one as I missed the one on Chiang Mai. You can book in advance, depending on how busy it is. I rocked up in a scooter, calling in advance. I paid for one hour, got well over 3 just chilling with the elephants. Highly recommend, take spare shorts and shoes if getting in the river. It's very shallow.

We had such a great experience on our 1 hour tour! We were extremely happy to have Ike guide us in a walk beside the elephants to the river — where we helped bathe them and then got to observe them be elephants. He had a lot of knowledge and passion! Thom’s park is committed to treating the animals well and ethically. Our 4 year old loved it!! Be prepared to get wet and clamber along a muddy river bank. Recommend!

I was a bit apprehensive with this tour given the rating is not very high, but decided to give it a try after reading some lengthy and very positive review comments. It turns out to be the best experience in Thailand so far. Really up close and personal with the 2 elephants, learning about their behaviours and observing them in their natural habitat. The guide, Ike, was very generous with his sharing about elephants and the mahouts were very friendly. The animals are very well taken care of.

We had a fantastic time at Thom’s Elephant Camp. I was initially skeptical due to the negative reviews but reality and reviews are mixed up. They treat the elephants very well and all of the negative reviews are actually confusing this place with the people across the road. We booked and paid for a 1 hr walk and bathe with the elephants and we actually got to spend almost 2 hours with the elephants. Our guide, Ike was very informative and helpful, he understood the elephants body language and habits very well and explained to us that he only works as a guide there because of how well they treat the elephants. There was no riding or forcing of the elephants in any way. Ike also is a professional photographer and took some amazing photos of my partner and I which he shared with us.

Ignore the negative reviews, they're confusing Thom's with someone else. These elephants are LOVED! Sleep up the mountain in the jungle at night, and come down to a shaded area near the road from by day where they walk to the river a few times with tourists.. just eating, playing, and eating some more.. then back to the shade where they have breaks. We were the last to join them for a lap at the very end of the day and the elephants were still happy flapping their ears and just really relaxed and cheeky. They even got into pile of food they weren't meant to and the owner was just gently pushing them back and yelling at them like you would your child. Wonderful experience! I think many of the negative reviews are old or about other places in the same street that don’t have an online presence. The 2 elephants here are very well treated and much loved. We had a great experience, it really touched us deeply to connect with these gentle giants and the guide Ike from the US is a real gem and told us so many fascinating things about them!

So much fun here today, plenty of local kids and adults playing around on the slide and a balance beam. Everyone was so friendly and willing to help anyone go down the slide if they needed some advice. Well worth the 100thb entry fee. We could've stayed here for ages ! Nice spot to cool off and have a bit of fun. Recommend wearing shorts if you're sliding and the kids tell you to wet them first so you're nice and smooth! Anyone can slide!

Loved it. They charge 100bath at the entrance so I would choose to go and have a day at ‘the pool’ than just going to check out the waterfall. There’s kind of a ‘slide’ that’s fun to do (if you don’t mind hurting your butt a little bit hahahah). Really nice place to read and enjoy the sun. Water wasn’t too warm (finally🤩)

A nice Thai waterfall with some excellent swimming capabilities. During the day there are quiet a few people. Entry is around 100TBH. There is a place on the rocks from where you can safely slide into the water

Not a bad stop. We went in dry season so the water level wasn't high. The water was cold yet refreshing and ate some great Pad Thai and braaied (barbecued) chicken. Paid 100 Baht per bike at the gate.

Great place to enjoy the natural beauty of northern Thailand and cool down in 3 nice pools. 15 minutes ride from Pai, easy to get to. There's a couple of scary slides down the rocks into the pools if you're feeling adventurous/ foolhardy. Scary but fun. I got away unscathed but do at your own risk! Well worth the reasonable 100 Bath entry

Infrastructure completely run down and abandoned. Water is also too low at the moment for the waterfall to flow. Maybe in the future it will live up again. Currently not recommended and not usable.

The waterfall is nice but very small and not at all what I was expecting - especially as they charge 100 Baht per person to visit. Completely overpriced. It was part of the Pai half-day tour and the only place that really could be skipped given the high entrance fee, while all other more impressive places are free. Walking around could be a bit slippery and paths are sometimes not 100% good.

It is now 100b for tourists to go visit. I wish the water was transparent but Pai had have too much rain lately! It is a nice fall close to Pai with a beautiful ride to get there. On a hot dry day it would be a nice place to deep in the little natural pools .

Wonderful waterfall. Ticket price 100 bath/person. Advisable is to come as early as possible. We arrived at 10:15 and other than a couple we were the only ones, perfect moment to enjoy the silence. From 12 the silence is over and the all the tourists arrive.

Very fun place ! The water is cold, it’s really refreshing in this hot weather. There’s a couple of place you can slide.

Great way to spend the day, was quite busy but it’s high season so was expected:) such a nice drive from middle of town as well. Peaceful and lovely.

Cool complex of pools and waterfalls. Just a 5 mins walk from the parking you get to the waterfalls, everything is green and super clean. You can slide down on the rocks with the local kids, just be careful not to get injured. The water is cold and it’s a necessary refresher during the summer. Getting by bike is easy, the road is chill to ride even for beginner riders. You need to pay 200bht for each bike you park inside, but I think you can also park outside if you really don’t want to pay.

Arrived at 8:30 and had the waterfall to ourselves, stayed until 2pm and it was a lot busier at that time (we came in October). Great place to chill with friends sunbathing and sliding down the waterfall. Lots of butterflies around too, well worth 100 baht and better than Pang Bok. Food and drinks available to buy there for good price too.

Fun afternoon chilling and fishing in this stocked pond. Nice owners.

There's a lot of good to say about this place. If, for whatever reason, you are inclined to go fishing (catch and release) while in Pai, this is a good place to do it. If you come with at least some fishing skill and the yearn to learn the staff can be very helpful. The beds are very comfy, mosquito protected at windows (and net over bed), the ensuite bathroom is nice (shower doesn't stay warm for long) and there are a lot of DVD movies available in the room. There is also a community stove and fridge. They offer cheap gin and tonics (50 baht). But plus, in January at least, there were far less mosquitoes than I expected. My bad experience happened when I got food poisoning here and the owner denied any responsibility (because he made it himself) and still made me pay for the food. I know I got it there because I was there since 1 am eating and drinking their products only. At around 7 pm I had one of their tasty, and moderately priced burgers. Around midnight and we'll into the next day I was stuck in the bathroom with the all too familiar food poisoning. So minus one star for location, minus one star for food poisoning and minus one star for how the owner handled the food poisoning.

We only found it on way to waterfall. Had an afternoon there. Worth 200 baht

If you hope to catch fish you will be disappointed. There is no fish at all! The place is nice and quiet but no fishing experience for you.

Had an excellent time here. Such a beautiful setting and a great place to spend a few hours fishing. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Caught a 5.6kg catfish which put up a hell of a fight. Highly recommended.

Great way to spend a couple hours. Even if the weather is bad the huts will keep you dry while you keep a pole in the water. Avoid the middle of the day as the fish don't bite often. You'll be sure to catch something here. Great for all ages.

Cute little ancient Chinese village in Pai. Definitely set up as a tourist site, but also okay. There are a couple activities, some things to walk around and look it as well. My favorite was the Yunnan swing (human-powered ferris wheel!).

Nice experience. No entrance fee. The Chinese area isn’t very big, but you get a nice feel of china coming here. You’ll probably spend about 30-60 minutes walking around the area. You can also pay to try and shoot with wooden arrows. You can rent traditional Chinese clothes for pictures, starting from 100bath.

Again! Like everything else in Pai. This was cute! One of the 7 spots that the half day tour took us. The ones I really liked was the canyon sunset and bamboo bridge. Also honestly drive in car all day with cute view points coming now and then.

Interesting stop if you’re passing through. Quite fun for a little 1-2 hour excursion if you want time some basic close range archery and BB guns. (Don’t expect any tutoring). It’s not a must see but it is fun to pass by. It’s got a few little areas to explore which are cute.

There is no need to go especially, but if your path has fallen somehow, my only advice is that it has the only natural place inside; you see the flower garden at the back. Quaint little Chinese inspired village with mud huts selling teas and Chinese teapots and snacks. Archery and shooting targets and a replica of the Great Wall of China which you can walk up. Viewpoint 2KM from the village which has nice views over Pai. Overall not the best thing we’ve ever done but we did enjoy getting out of Pai for a few hours and enjoying a cup of tea in a calm setting. Free to get in, free parking, free toilet Facilities

Very fun, you can shoot bow and arrows, bb guns, and small wooden crossbows, all for a cheap price. Also you can buy fish food and feed what looks like thousands of different colourful fish. Would visit again.

Apparently the high season for this place is Nov-Feb. It was a little bit of a tourist trap, but pretty fun to walk around and see what they had.

A Chinese culture “theme park” with miniature Chinese style wall and structures. Worthwhile to visit for non-Chinese only :-)

This is a tourist village promoting the Chinese Yunnan peoples settlement into the Pai area. Here you can dress up as a Chinese warrior or princess and have your photo taken. You can shoot archery, walk the battlements, or buy some tea or herbal elixir. It's an easy drive from Pai. Carry on further up the hill for some beautiful mountain views from the lookout area.

It’s cute, seems like a little scale amusement park for tourists. The best part is the archery by the body of water. You can also rent some very over the top “period” dresses for 100TBH and walk around being photographed by all the other tourists and the rental ladies themselves (maybe for their walls?). There are some drinks and sweet products (all the stalls sell practically the same) and a few places where you can get some cooked food. I didn’t try any. There’s also a poor tied pony on a leash :(

It's a trap with 400 bath and time you spend here. Nothing much. Only 1 small hot stream and if there are around 10 people, the water will be cloudy. The road from the entry gate to the main spring is sharp curve sometime and chill. Definitely not come back

A little pool of not-so-hot spring (I think it's 35 - 40C) which has little facilities. Thought water would be crystal clear like what I saw in other reviews, but it's actually a bit muddy with some little garbages lied in the water bed. Compared with San Kampang hot spring or Fang hot spring, the latter is much organized, larger, and much hotter. Anyway, it's a place to visit once in Pai.

Hot springs was very pretty. Thought it would be hotter, but it’s just warm. Better to sit in it with the sun. The water is very clear and clean. Dragonflies are all over the place and very interesting to watch. Some will land on you. Unfortunately, you have a 200 baht to entree and 20 baht to park in the parking lot. So 220 baht altogether for one person.

The water was crystal clear and clean. I visited it around noon. Only very few people were there. Super relaxing to hang around for an hour.

Nice scooter ride. The road will take you through a beautiful scenery before arriving to the hot springs. The place is cool, the water is indeed hot and it’s a good feeling, it gives you so much peace. Also, there weren’t much people (came in low season). However, the entrance fee is very high, 400TBH (for thai people it’s only 30…). I find it too expensive for what it actually is, we shouldn’t be paying that much for natural spaces! 😠

Sai Ngam Hot Springs It's amazing here And I really like going into the hot water. to relax the body.

We have been here twice and always enjoyed this super nice hot spring. However, upon our return in May 2023, we noticed a significant price increase. For foreigners, it is now 400 baht, which is 10 times higher than the price for Thai nationals. While I understand the concept of paying more as a foreigner, this price difference seems exorbitant.

You need to have a vehicle to get inside as the entrance is further away from its hot spring area. Prolly 2km ish. 430baht for tourist including motorcycle. Be sure to have your patches ready as the place is full of those mozzies. Literally buzzing next to your ears and sucking you dry from any exposed skin. Even though I’m wearing long sleeves that doesn’t stand a chance. The highest tier will be the clearest and cleanest, best to wear water/ wading shoes as the bottom surface is full with sharp pebbles. Don’t get too excited, feel your way in and swim slowly, do not do any sudden move or your feet will get hurt. It is not even hot just slight warm, felt that the one in Betong is way warmer.

Excellent hot spring just outside of Pai! Water was warm not hot. Did not have strong sulphur smell. Spacious enough to get away from people. Go early! Crowds start arriving at 10:00 am. We arrived at 8:10 am and only shared the pools with 6 people for 2 hours. Drive through the park is a little sketchy. Big hills and go slow. My partner and I were packing on a single moped and had to redistribute our body weight going uphill.

Very quiet and relaxing hotspring. Rather big place. Water isn't that hot. Fringed by natural greenery. Water is very clean and clear. It was not crowded at the time we were there. 11ish in the morning. Bathrooms are clean. The path after the ticketing entrance is somewhat steep and winding. Get a good scooter. Otherwise you will end up like me, walking up certain parts of the steep slopes 😄 (About 45 degrees, no joke. It was tiring) On the way back, I ended up hitching a ride from a local to the entrance while my partner rode his bike. We had some heavy gears with us to begin with. Overall it was a very memorable experience! :)

Honestly, I don't recommend this "hot spring" at all and here's why: They want you to pay their new entry fee of 400 baht. They'll tell you this price and the ticket that comes with it will get you into several other locations in the area. This is only good for the day of purchase... (See photo in case you do want to visit some of the other attractions) If you come here in the afternoon like I did, the likelihood of you going to any of the other locations is pretty slim. Now let's get to the actual "hot spring." I keep putting hot springs in quotation marks because it wasn't hot at all. It was a 30 minute old bathtub water temperature. Luke warm at best... Even at the source of the spring... There are other hot springs in the area that I would highly recommend before this one and for less than half the price you'll pay for this one. I'll leave a review for the one that I do recommend. I forget the name of it but it's part of the Pai International Meditation Center. Plus, that one is a little closer to town.

The entry fee is an insult by Thailand Tourism Authority to all foreigners. 400 bahts is the highest entry we paid and the hot spring doesn't have much to talk about, couple of shallow pools of lukewarm water, easily crowded when there are 10 people. Shame on Thai tourism ministry.

The hot spring itself beautiful, mostly locals are swimming or take a bath there, the water was not that hot just the same as temperatures outside ☺️ but just the enterance fee was too much 400 Baht/person and for locals is 30Baht 😅😅

A scenic hot spring that is large enough to seat 50-100 people. That being said, I would recommend going early, as around 10-11am bus loads of tourists do arrive during high season. If you arrive in the first hour of the opening there should only be a handful of people in the hot springs. If you’d like to bathe in the sun, there is a sitting area just behind the hot springs to laze in. I would highly recommend taking your time on the three kilometre ride in from the gate to the hot spring, and give yourself an hour or two here. The views are stunning even on the drive in.

I arrived at Charn Chai as an absolute beginner, zero experience in any martial art, not particularly athletic and very anxious as to how well I will be able to keep up. The trainers could not have been more accommodating. The classes are a large mix of both absolute beginners and people that fight on TV, but you never feel intimidated everyone is so friendly. The trainers just want to help you get better and will push you as hard as you want to be pushed, whether you want to train to fight or just want to train for fitness. I started my month anxious as to how it would go, and I finished my month wanting to stay for another. Highly highly recommend this camp to any person beginner or otherwise. Couldn't be a more friendly place to train and the trainers are the best! Thanks Charn Chai! I will be back!

It was my first time doing a Muay Thai class and I loved it! The energy and guidance from the teachers were amazing. I highly recommend it for all levels. I was a complete beginner and felt welcomed and was able to understand the different techniques. Thank you for a wonderful experience. I hope to be back soon again

I spent a month at charnchai, and loved the experience. Cool mornings and hot afternoons. Hundreds of crunches and kicks every day. Beautiful temple runs and high level Muay Thai instruction. The trainers are friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. I'd definitely recommend this gym to anyone that is looking for somewhere to go and focus on kickboxing training.

Best gym in Thailand, all the trainers are so friendly and the whole gym is like one big family. It’s very nice to see all levels from beginner to high level professionals. I spent a total of 8 months here and wish I could have stayed longer! They have semi regular BBQ’s on saturday nights too. I had a total of 4 fights here including my first fight. All the coaches couldn't have been more supportive!

What an experience. We planned to stay in Pai for a week and came to check out Charn Chai. Our 1 week turned to 3 weeks and we kept training here. Our first week we did group clases, which I would highly recommend if you’re looking to increase your conditioning, as Muay Thai requires a lot of it. The classes are a combination of technique and conditioning, depending on the days, one more than the other. It’s a good structure and benefits all levels. After our first week, we did 1:2 training with Kru Dim. We have done Muay Thai for a couple years so we loved the thought of working with one of the trainers! This was the best thing to happen to us. We did privates 3-4 times per week for two weeks. Kru Dim took care of us and adjusted training based on our skill level. He taught us lots of technique… from padwork, to sparring to clinching and just overall Fight IQ. All the trainers here love what they do, and want to see everyone succeed and get better. The whole team is full of knowledgeable coaches and everyone is friendly and kind. Charn Chai ha really built something special. If you’re staying in Pai, I would highly recommend Charn Chai Muay Thai. My best suggestion would be to do a mix of classes and personal training - and if you’re here with a partner, I would highly recommend 1:2 training. Thank you Charn Chai for having us, and thank you Kru Dim for an amazing training and experience 🙏🏼 we will miss the gym, the team and Kru Dim. We will definitely be back! 🙏🏼

My time at Charn Chai Muay Thai will be one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The training at this gym is very intense but extremely fun, regardless of your level of training. Whether you are a beginner attending for a day, or a veteran spending a year at the gym, every single one of the trainers will take you seriously and treat you with the utmost respect. The meal plan offered by the gym is incredible as well. For a much lower price than you will find anywhere in town, the gym will feed you healthy, fulfilling meals after every training session. It is during these post workout meals that you will begin to bond with the other students and get the chance to meet people from around the world. In addition to this, the area of Pai where this gym is located is gorgeous and with no shortage of sights. The town area itself is small, and is a long strip of different bars, restaurants, and street vendors. The small nature of the "town" area is beneficial in that you will run into your fellow gym students often and easily join the community here. The outside area of Pai is filled with gorgeous sights such as waterfalls, caves, and my personal favorite, the Pai canyon (which is a must see at sunset). If you have fears about traveling to attend a Muay Thai gym, I hope this review can put those fears to rest. You will be taken care of and you will be treated well as a student. A wonderful place. The trainers can adapt their teaching to your level. Beginners are really well taken care of and experienced people can improve themselves as they wish. Trainers give you the motivation push to yourself everyday and are the nicest people I have ever met. I have never regretted a single training session during two months there. Don’t think it ! Book it ! One of my best experience was at charnchai .. As a beginner and as a girl I felt so much supported by the coaches. Always pushing the best of me out ! Considering your level they try to do them best for your comfort. So if you are a girl…and you are scared… don’t be, go for it 😊 probably would be the proudest things you’ll do in your life ! I just recently trained at Charnchai gym in Pai for about 10 days and I cannot recommend this place enough!! The trainers, the facilities, the knowledge and experience this place can impart on someone is priceless!! The atmosphere of the gym is very friendly and relaxed, and they will push you mentally and physically to become better as a Muay Thai practician/fighter all the while keeping a playful and enjoyable training environment. Everyone was laughing and enjoying the workouts even though they were very demanding! I really wish I had more time to train and will definitely be coming back here in the future for an extended visit! Loved it! Shout out to Kru Blanco for teaching me a lot of valuable technique and mindset in the private training sessions, and also to Stephen for your help with my time there! And of course every other trainer too! Best gym in Pai and well worth the visit 👊💯💪💪

Simply not enough room to write all the good things to say about this place. - Vibe is incredible, attracts really awesome people from all over the world. - Trainers are amazing. They spend lots of 1:1 time every class with each student on pads and really make sure to help you at any level. They are fun, keep spirits up after hard trainings, and really look out for you while here. - Steven the glue that holds it all together. If you stay a few weeks, he really makes sure to set you up with everything you need and keeps an eye out to make sure the stay is a memorable experience. I was here for 6 weeks in total. I agree that the trainers will adapt accordingly to your level once getting to know you. The trainers and Steven are very thoughtful and caring, so its also pleasant to be there for solo female travelers. You will miss Charnchai when you leave, no one beats their charisma.

I had the privilege of spending 1 month at this gym. Wow, what a great experience! Top marks for this wonderful place. The trainers were very responsive and adapted to my level (extra thanks to Mr Ae who I did a lot of private lessons with, he’s got a lot of experience and knowledge). A very family and welcomed atmosphere prevails. The next time I visit Thailand I will be visit this gym again for sure.

I was fortunate to practice muay thai for the first time at Charn Chai Gym. In two weeks my technique, fitness level and mindset improved greatly. Everyday you get to push yourself to the limit. The trainers are skilled, patient and always in for a joke. The atmosphere was great. I would totally recommend to train here! P.S. the Yoga-sessions were great as an addition!

Unbelievable gym. Travelled around a few different gyms throughout Thailand but never felt anywhere feel more welcoming than Charnchai. Master bee and his trainers are outstanding, pushing the more experienced whilst taking time and being patient with the more beginner students. The pricing is extremely good compared the training received. The gym have accommodation on offer for both budget/mid budget travellers with great quality though out. The manager Steven is always more than happy to answer any questions or offer any help. 10/10 Muay Thai gym

I trained under Master Iain for around a year. You get the whole package, beautiful scenery, healthy food. Qualified instructors. An armory of traditional Chinese weapons and routines to learn each one. My next one will be double axes. This is not just martial arts it's Buddhist and Taoist philosophy discussing a lineage and a family. I found my home there and it pulled me up, healed me and gave me life long friends who are my brothers and sisters now.

A truly amazing and refreshing experience. A wonderful, traditional and very effective style taught by highly skilled, patient, energetic and inspiring professionals. Great people and atmosphere, the retreat itself is what you expect and want if you really want a retreat, food is good and plentiful but caters more to vegetarian, Pai the local town is only a 5k's away, lovely people, lots of food, entertainment, virtually anything you need. All in all I had a great time, meet some wonderful people at the retreat being fellow students and teachers, and also some great locals! I will be back very soon and for a much longer stay, lots to learn

An amazing location and a great place to learn and train. Everyone is super friendly and from day 1 you feel included and part of a kung fu family. If you're a beginner, or experienced in other martial arts, this is suitable to either kick start your journey, or boost your understanding

I took the Chi Kung teacher training program at Nam Yang in February 2020. Master Ian is a great teacher, and his instructors provide excellent training. The resort is situated on a beautiful mountain plateau in Pai, Thailand that has great energy, and makes the training enjoyable.

Summary: - I would definitely recommend Nam Yang and consider going back for a longer stay - Excellent teachers, instructions, and thoughtful class schedule - Great physical and mental workout - Took off 1 star due to accommodations: I would consider commuting from Pai (5-10min scooter ride) Details: I stayed for 1 week and loved my experience. The instruction from the teachers was excellent. They provided one-on-one guidance to all the students, and were enthusiastic to make sure I was able to learn as much as possible given my short stay. I walked away with an appreciation of kung fu, both its physical and mental aspects. The daily schedule was well balanced alternating between meditative Chi Qong, intense physical workouts, tea time, and skills-based instruction. I would definitely consider coming back for a longer period of time. The campus itself is on a beautiful piece of land in the mountains, not far from central Pai (about 5 min scooter ride). The meals were healthy, vegetarian, and tasty. I took one star away bc of the accommodations. My partner and I stayed in a specials double room. Overall a lot of things made it very uncomfortable. For example,1) it was hot, but there were no screens on the windows so difficult to keep them open, 2) small bathroom so everything got wet when you showered, 3) leaky sink faucet that was hard to use, 4) not enough space or furniture for two people to unpack, 5) plastic pillows, etc..to name a few things. While they are not dealbreakers, all of these things do add up, especially given the price of accommodations at Nam Yang, compared to the price of a nicer room in Pai. During the 4th night of our stay, the center lost water for about 1 day (not it's fault, there was an issue with Pai water pipeline), but after that we decided to get different lodging in Pai and commute into the center for classes.

Nam Yang is an excellent place with outstanding instruction. The courses and structure of training means you learn so much in a very short time. The instructors are some of the best educators I have ever seen. They've mastered the art of explaining complex things in simple terms. Yes,the training is robust and the accomodation is basic but this is a ife changing experience that will stay with you forever.

Amazing place, i spent 3 weeks here and will definitely return for a longer stay. So much to learn, the instructors give so much to the students that alone make the trip worthwhile. On top of that you get to train in an incredible location, great program,food and accommodation. This was such a great experience for me, a 60 year old with nil martial arts background. Be prepared to be challenged physically and mentally you wont be disappointed.

Having spent 9 month at the Nam Yang Kung Fu Retreat, I found a well suited environment for self development in general and learning the art of traditional shaolin Kung Fu in particular. The place is remote and beautiful, the facilities are simple yet comfortable, and the Teachers are dedicated and inspiring. The food is tasty and mostly homegrown. If you are looking for some legit shaolin Kung Fu with a real Tradition in a safe and caring environment, you should not hesitate to come.

Definitely a good place to go when you want to learn about Kung-Fu, it's Philosophy and Lifestyle. I've been only here for a week but I have still learned a lot in that short time. Kung-Fu is way more than just a martial art and you will discover that. Food and accommodation is simple, but I liked that. They try to grow the majority of the food within the garden of the retreat which is great! Most trainers are very enthusiastic about what they do and will be more than happy to help you on your way. On the down side the retreat is very expensive relative to Thailand. Keep in mind that you will also need to rent a scooter/bike for the time you're there as the resort is to far away from the city. Additional expenses are daily lunch and the 2 free days during the week. I would recommend that you book for a shorter period and see from there if that's your thing and you're really into it.I

My time at the nam yang kung fu retreat was truly amazing… It was everything I needed to get me out of the unhealthy routine I had created for myself. Master Iain is an amazing man, and training under him, you learn not just Kung Fu, but truths about yourself. I believe everyone should try living in a place like this at least once in their life, and I cannot reccomend the Nam Yang retreat enough. With kung fu teachers at the top of their game. You’ll never cease to be amazed by the abilities these people have procured over the years… My only qualm would be the food served at the retreat (as I am quite a picky eater), but with the city of Pai practically in your backyard, you will never run out of culinary options to try. Absoulutely do yourself a favor, and come be a part of the Nam Yang family

I have just completed the 200 hour Qigong Instructor training course at Nam Yang Kung Fu retreat and it has been one of the best courses I have ever attended. The instructors who delivered the course were very professional, friendly and knowledgeable and no question was left unanswered. Personal attention was given to each of us to assist in fine tuning our practices. I arrived a bit overweight and thanks to the physical classes, I am now fit and toned and feeling very strong. The meditation classes were fantastic and have taken me deeper than I have ever gone previously. The schedule is structured so you have plenty of time to practice the routines in between classes. Master Iain has created a beautiful safe space here to learn and grow. If you are thinking about taking this course, I highly recommend it.

The retreat is very peaceful. An experience worth having in a lifetime. Master Iain and the teachers have a very deep understanding of the arts and the philosophies behind them. This place changed my life. Truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. If you are looking for a reset, new inspiration, deepening your self-mastery, immersing yourself in Kung Fu, Qigong, and Chinese philosophy with incredible people surrounding by breathtaking beauty… this place is for you. Literally feels like a movie.

Surprisingly more interesting than anticipated. The bridge was built not that long ago, in 2016. There are cool little attractions such as stairway to heaven, flower tunnel, helicopter shaped installations, etc. But most of the beauty and serenity comes from cows roaming around, jungle temple in the forest at the end of the bridge and the rice fields (last one I assume, in April it's dry and there's no growth). Entrance is free, but donations are advised.

We enjoyed our time here. It was not crowded when we came. There was a temple at the end of the bamboo bridge trail. And we met one of the happiest cows ever!

For 30 Baht entry fee it’s well worth it. The bridge is way longer than expected and has 2 nice and simple temples near the end. It’s very scenic and if you come early enough it’s nice and quite and you only hear birds and the bells of the animals. Really nice to come explore and relax.

Go and see this place! It is so beautiful. The road up is average and narrow But got my car up. well worth it!

Nice to see and sit on some of the benches (and those "stairway to heaven" stairs) and just feel the calmness of the countryside. The bridge itself surprised me. I have thought it's a historical sight, but it was built in 2016. No entrance fee, but nice to donate to local comunity..

Great place to visit when exploring Pai. Good parking outside for bikes. Cool bridge to walk across with things to see on the way and places to take good photos. Some lovely nature too.

We enjoyed visiting here, something different. The views are nice with the rice fields around. We spent about an hour here. There is another bamboo bridge just before Mae Hong Son but we missed they say it is better, not sure. 3btraveler

Wat Phra That Mae Yen, about 2 kilometers from Pai District, is a sacred temple of Pai for a long time. The temple area is quiet and shady, with a highlight on the large white Buddha image. And you can see the sun here, it's very beautiful.

The White Buddha is just 30min walk from the main road. Go in the morning or later in the afternoon. So you don't need to do all the stairs with the sun. They open 6 am till 6 pm. Remember to bring appropriate clothes covering shoulders and knees. Otherwise you can rent there to cover yourself.

simple yet elegant Wat with an amazing view of of the Pai Valley. there are stairs leading up from the main road and you can also drive up. several additional buildings on site are under construction. the big buddha itself is lovely.

The good point is the view of the city. The statues were mostly is a bad shape, with crackling and some parts lost. Avoid coming between 11-14h: too hot and the stairs will make you regret. Quite empty and calm despite being very close of the city (around 6 min with a motorcycle from the city ‘center’)

About 2000 years Buddha statue, located up hill and watches over Pai little city. You need to climb about 300 stairs up there, but the view and air worth it.

A big white Buddha statue overlooking Pai, amazing views and a great place to watch the sunset! But please be aware of religious customs and make sure to wear pants and shirts, nothing that’s showing too much skin.

Beautiful place. The views of the mountains are incredible and the Buddha is of course stunning. The stairs only take about 5 minutes and it’s worth every single step!

Little Greece with Thailand vibes🇹🇭🇬🇷 Rooms are comfortable, nice balcony and staff is very friendly. Delicious breakfast 🍳 they have transfer from the hotel to the Night market which is very convenient. Good impression!

It's a long climb up for the unfit but the view! Just an observation, but this is considered a sacred ground, so while it might look like a nice wide floor area and the hike up might have been tiring, respect the place enough not to sprawl all over the floor. Oh, and you need to remove your footwear at the top of the stairs.

Buddha overlooking Pai, excellent viewpoint and perfect to watch the sunset setting over the hills, you have to take some steps up the stairs to reach the top, the place is not in the best shape and there are some cracks in the statue, still worth the visit.

I walked here from Pai town, it is definitely doable. There are a lot of stairs and a little temple area at the bottom. You can rent wraps to walk up to the Buddha if you are not covered. The views are nice. You can also do this as part of a full day or half day tour. I read a book for over an hour in the meditation area under the shade in the temple grounds

Thailand is my " Land of Superlatives " , and so my 5 Star reviews are consistent with superlative experiences, special beauty, gracious Thai people. So start with placing flags as markers all over the mountains surrounding Pai and allow for Supreme guidance leading to the location here for this surreal shrine. That process is worth 5 Stars and this location is beyond belief. The setting Sun is eye level across a long valley and what a spectacular way to Segway into dusk and darkness 🌟. Walk the stairs, the steps, get to the top and feel a rare transformation of self on the upper level/ uppermost landing

We would come up here everyday for admiring the view. The best thing in Pai, without a doubt. It sits like a distant dream in the mountains, and you can’t help but be attracted to it. As you ascend the white steps, each step has a fantastic carved animal into the railing which then transforms into these mythical Buddhist and seemingly Hindu symbols. At the top the beauty sits and is growing a shrub bush in between its fingers. It’s quite a sight to see. There’s a place for rentals for women’s skirts. And there’s no fee to enter but you should definitely remove your shoes at the top, as with all temples.

A relaxing place for meditation or freeing your mind. Reachable by foot, bikes or scooters. There are a lot of stairs to walk up.

Best spot to view sunset in Pai! High stairs with awesome sightseeing. Highly reccommended for that activity!

Not made for tourist, but really beautiful and true. I would recommand to not go there, just so the locals can still have their own untouristic temple, but it was amazing to see the real usage of a temple!

There are a lot of fish in the pond around the temple, it’s a pleasure to watch them. Take fish food with you to the temple; it costs 30 baht.

Walkable from Pai town. About 50 minutes round trip. Nice scenery along the way.

It is a really quiet place, there is a pond where you can feed the fish, roosters roam around the property freely. There are many Buddha and roosters statues.

An ancient temple with peaceful atmosphere, enjoyed the serenity there.

A quaint little pavilion temple on the water. The interior is decorated with numerous rooster statues. Earn some merits and feed the catfish and pigeons there. A very quiet and tranquil environment.

Nice temple. Has some information in English for tourists. You can buy food for the fish in the pond and donations for the monks for good merit.

Historical place ,holy ,peaceful and beautiful. Peaceful and historic temple since king Nareasuan maharach. There is a pagoda that contained the hair of her royal majesty Suphankanlaya (King Nareasuan’s elder sister ). Surprisingly, there's buddha Oun-Muang that has water stained in the statute head and don’t know water come from where Although trying to prove many times, people believed that it was holy water.

Good scenic view, quite and clean place. Most of the information is in local language, would’ve been great in English too. They have a pond with fish, ducks and turtles.
