Awesome place. No words to explain the beauty of this place. My best suggestion for you would be go for trek first to the mosquito Chappel place. It’s a good 3hr trek 2 ways. Later be there in pictured rocks by evening and don’t forget to pre book your seats on sunset cruise. There is a place to enjoy the sunset (I have not explored this option but some people were watching sunset from the rocks). Take some water and light snacks along. There are lot of mosquitos in the forest and you will get irritated while trekking. Hat, long sleeves and pants are recommended.

Heaven on Earth. Beautiful rock structures and if you visit during fall - Up North looks mesmerizing. Kayaking is the way you can see all different rocks. You don't have to be kayaker for this. Saying that definitely you are provided training when you register for any kayaking tour available. We had rented cabin along the shore and it was great time. Would definitely visit again :)

This was my first time visiting pictured rocks and I was disappointed that our cruise cancelled because of the weather. We weren’t able to reschedule because of our itinerary and all the other times sold out. This would be 5-star worthy if you could take in the formation from land AND shore. But with that being said, it was still worthy of a short little walk to get a peek at pictured rocks from a top down view. The winds were high, but it was a beautiful day and the views we could see were pretty amazing. I would definitely recommend trying to see this beautiful formation from the water if at all possible!

I always thought picture rock was only a rock! But its A MASTER PIECE!! GOD CREATED A BEAUTIFUL SHORELINE!!! That many of us take for granted.. I really enjoyed this trip. The best views are obviously from a boat or off A kayak!! Or even the Tour!! If you get the chance to make it here.. you won't be disappointed!!

beautiful! clear water, amazing nature, easy hiking trails. there were so many friendly chipmonks too! we stopped by the caves of the bloody chief and my husband said it was beautiful, though the rocks were too slippery for me to walk on barefoot (he had crocs on). i wish to come back again!

Breathing taking views, Lake Superior offers crystal clear waters but stays pretty chilly year round. There are a few trails to choose from with varying lengths. I love to hike along the rocks on the North country national scenic trail between mosquito falls and chapel rock it’s approximately ~7 miles to do the loop. There is a beach at chapel rock for those wanting to relax and enjoy a beach day! Munising offers kayak tours that take you along the rocks. Best time to go for a tour is June.

An amazing and beautiful place to visit in the summer. No words to explain this.. Crystal Clear Water. Amazing Experience.. Enjoyed a lot on Sun-Set Cruise. Add it to the list of places you have to visit in the Upper Peninsula!

One of the Beautiful places I have been in my life !! Awesome cliffs to capture if you are a photography lover . In childhood I have seen this rock pictures in India. Watching them in person and taking nice pictures and videos is a great experience!! If you are a hiking lover you should try hiking on the cliffs and also some kayaking available on the shores of the lake ! We took a ferry from the landing point ! It’s a bit of drive form Detroit crossing the Mackinac bridge ! This place is wonderful for all Nature overs !!

Holy cow! What a stunning site. There are several overlooks and a nice trail that goes down to the beach area but be prepared. This place was BUSY when we were there and the trail terrain is moderately difficult depending on your experience and hiking level. Mostly steep hill climb back up from the beach.

One of the only spots to see pictured rocks without being on the water. Cool formation and two different viewing areas make this a must stop if you're in the area.

Such an incredible view! I highly recommend coming here and seeing the ‘painted rocks.’ A short walk for very beautiful scenery! The day we went was cloudy but it was still an amazing time.

Beautiful. Very short walk to the upper viewing area. A little longer grade (down and back up) walk to the lower one. We were so thankful this is available for those who would have trouble making the hikes to some of the other places throughout the park!

Beautiful views with a short walk. Definitely a must see. We took our 4 year old, it was age appropriate.

Stunning view! Even more beautiful than expected. We paid $20 for the 7-day pass for our vehicle. I wish we had more time and could have explored more than just the south/west end of the park. While boat is the best way to see the rocks, we loved our views from the many trails in the area.

This is a stunning overlook of Miners Castle Point! Beautiful water views, so breathtaking, you’ll never want to leave! An easy walk to both the upper and lower decks! This is a must stop on your way to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore…be sure not to skip over this one!

Nice trails and amazing views

Even on a cold windy day it's beautiful to see Pictured Rocks. There is an upper platform and another viewing area down some steps and a long long winding ramp with some more steps up to the platform. Easier to get down than back up. But if you're able it's worth it to see close up.

Gorgeous spot. Amazing view. Worth the trip

This is always one of my favorite spots to visit every single time we are in this area. Even when I have seen it, quite a few times, it's still always worth the visit. There is an easy, flat surface that takes you to the first overlook. You can get a beautiful view of Miner's Castle. If you walk towards the lower overlook, there is a few more spots where you can get some views, but they are slightly obstructed by trees and overgrowth. The lower overlook is down a fairly steep hill. Going down is easy, going back up can take some time if you aren't used to it. From the lower overlook you can see Pictured Rocks and Bridal Veil Falls. This is also a great spot to stop and have a picnic! There are tables, and little grill areas all over in this area. So stop and enjoy the view and have a snack! There is a bathroom here as well, but during Covid it has been closed. There are some outhouses there that are still open though.

Small waterfall just a couple minutes out of Munising. Nice view from below, and there's an upper view to the right. Off of the path to the right, at the top of the stairs, is a beaten trail that actually goes up to the top of the falls. No railings or anything up there so I'd be cautious. But it's a nice view down and really quiant spot int he woods by the creek that feeds the falls.

Plenty of parking available with restrooms on-site (restrooms are closed during the off-season). A nice little trail walk along the creek with stairs and a fork splitting between an upper and lower view of the fall. Overall really beautiful. Don't forget to look around at all the nature!

Beautiful waterfall after a short hike. Plenty of parking at the trailhead and bathrooms if needed. It looks like there is an office with information there to. This isn't too far out of town and short walk on fairly level trail. Would highly recommend

Very peaceful hike! Went for the first time after being raised in Iron River, MI. The family loved it and the fall colors with the waterfall were absolutely perfect 👌.

There's a very short walk to the falls and there are multiple viewing platforms. There is a large parking lot here and there is a building with restrooms. The visitor's center is just a trailer with a window for now as it is a temp building while they are preparing a permanent one. The rangers are friendly and you can stamp your national parks passport book here. If you don't have a pass for Pictured Rocks, this should be your first stop in the park.

Nice place to visit, very very short walk to see the falls!

It’s a beautiful fall that is extremely easy to get to. Just park and it’s like a quarter mile walk max. Worth stopping for if you are visiting the area.

One of my absolute favorite waterfalls in this park. The waterfall, the rocky ledge it flows down from, and the surrounding forest all create some spectacular scenery.

Awesome waterfall! And it's right at the visitor center. There's not many waterfalls that are this short of a walk and flat and paved the whole way. Especially being that it's less than 1/4 mile and was still flowing at the end of the summer.

Located in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Park, this waterfall is easily accessible via the trail from the visitor center. The 800 ft trail will take you to a juncture where you can view the waterfall on the lower by a boardwalk or take the stairs to view the upper part of the falls. There is a large parking lot by the visitor center. Keep in mind this is part of the National Park System and you will need to purchase a park pass.

This is a short hike that is wheelchair accessible to the lower viewpoint. This was such a nice walk. It is about 800 feet from the visitor center. You can take a trail off the right that goes to an upper viewpoint. It does get crowded on the main part of the trail.

Short walk to a very nice waterfall! There is stairs leading to an upper deck and then a lower deck aswell. There was a small crowd of people there even though it was raining. I definitely recommend giving this place a stop!

Short hike from the parking spot and well worth it. There are 2 view points (upper and lower). Lots of misquotes, do carry a repellant for sure. Really beautiful falls!

This is a nice trail to get back here, but remember, there are stairs that you have to go down and back up, so keep that in mind. I would give this place a 5 stars, but sadly people are beginning to ruin the area. There were people standing on the rocks in the middle of the falls at the top. It was terrifying to see! Lots of people do jump the barriers to go down and get a better view, so there is a lot of erosion happening now. BUT this is still a beautiful waterfall!

Little bit steep and some stairs to go down and back up but the trail is good and well maintained. The official overlook can get a bit crowded as it's not very large so you might need to wait your turn to get a good view of the falls. We didn't venture down the unofficial path to get right down.

Nice waterfall! It requires a little bit of a hike, but well worth it! It's 0.6 miles from the parking area down to the falls.... some of it is trail and the very last part is stairs. Bring walking sticks! There is a small platform at the bottom to view the falls.

Hands down the best waterfall in the park, especially since we came at the end of summer, and it was still flowing strong. Only 0.6 miles from the parking lot and accessible by a flat, straight path. There are quite a bit of stairs at the end to get the best viewpoint of the falls, though.

About 10 miles outside Munising, easy to get to and easy to hike into. The trail through the forest is beautiful too. If it's not crowded and your up to a steep climb you can actually hike down too the base of the falls. Definitely a must see if you pass through Munising while in the UP.

Short but sweet hike. If you’re willing to hike beyond the look out point, you’ll get some very satisfying views and alone time with the falls. Be careful and make sure you have some good boots on as it’s quite steep.

What a beautiful area. We hiked the .6 miles to the falls. The trail is wide and has several benches along the way. Falls are beautiful. View from the lower level was amazing.

Nestled in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a beautiful cascade; Miners Falls. The trail is along the way to Miners Castle beach and lookout. After parking in the small lot you will walk 0.6 miles to a set of stairs that has multiple points to watch the beautiful running water. The water plunges 40 feet along the Miner River. I believe this is an excellent addition to a visit to Pictured Rocks NL. This waterfall is located near the west end of Pictured Rocks by Munising, Michigan.

The walk to the falls is a beautiful one. Its about .6 miles one way. We did it with a 4 and 2 year old while I'm 28 weeks pregnant lol. Love how easy the trail was and the falls are gorgeous.

Nice scenic falls after a 0.6 mile walk. Well worth the short trek. In the spring the falls are much more boisterous and enjoyable. May and June are great months. Lots of parking and there are outdoor restrooms.

One of the most beautiful waterfalls in the area. A decent little hike in for small children, but easy for adults and teenagers. Really a majestic place in nature and a must see in the area.

Definitely worth the short hike to the waterfall. The trail is easy to hike unless you decide to go past the overlook down to the actual waterfall, at which point you’re kind of descending down a steep slippery rock slope.

I have been here both in the fall and winter. Both times it was very beautiful! A very clean and easy-to-walk flat trail goes about a mile and then you are right there at the overlook! Stunning in fall, very dangerous making the walk from the overlook to the waterfall itself so be careful. The stairs were filled with pure ice and studded cleats did not quite do it. I recommend more advanced ice climbing gear if you want to venture up to the fall when it is frozen.

Small off-road parking along the side of the road with a short trial walk to the waterfall. Super beautiful, definitely stop by if you're in the area!

A great place to stop and check out for a few minutes. The falls have an impressive water flow. Parking is very limited, but people don't tend to stay here for very long since it's a short walk to the falls. It's definitely one of the highlights in the area, if you're in Munising there is no reason at all not to come check it out.

It’s a smaller, unique fall that is extremely easy to get to. Just park and walk right to it. Limited parking lot, though. Worth stopping at if you are in the area.

Super easy hike if you have 15 minutes to spare. It's only 1/4 of a mile, and the trail is basically handicap accessible with no stairs and flat the whole way. It is one of the best waterfalls that you can basically drive up to on the way to pictured rocks.

Beautiful & quick stop if you have about 15-20 minutes! Noticed it was busier in the weekends when we drove past. We stopped on a Thursday evening in late September & we were the only ones there!

Wagner is my favorite falls in the area. The hike is short and the creek winds along the trail as you walk towards the falls. Once there, they are very quaint and gentle rolling down. Truly breathtaking and relaxing.

Beautiful falls. Very short walk to get to them but the bridges are a little interesting - one section they forgot to(?) put in center support beams so it's like walking on a wooden trampoline. A little difficult to fly a drone here but if you can pull it off you can get some epic pictures. The falls continue much farther than you can see from the bridges.

One of my favorite waterfalls I saw in Michigan. Nice, relaxing trail out to the waterfall... A short walk, maybe not even 10 minutes. Although you should take your time strolling and look at the cool trees next to you with various fungi growing on them. The waterfall isn't huge, but it is beautiful. And there is also another very small one along the walkway.

Small waterfall near pictures rock it's just take 15min to 20min to visit if you have extra time to visit.

Great beach to visit. When the water is low the sand bar is visible and you can walk out into the bay forever. Water is clean and nice.

Shallow water and a paradise for beach lovers as you can walk half way through the lake without getting wet from waist above for somebody who is at least 5’3” in height. You don’t need to worry much even if you don’t know to swim, you won’t drown. I am usually scared of water and drowning but this beach made me fall in love with it, clear water, just as cold for a great water therapy. I can definitely be here all day long. Trust me you will love this place.

Nice quiet beach with an amazing view. Dog friendly. Our dog loved it. Water is obviously cold, but not too bad for a quick wade in the summer. Great place for a picnic.

A truly gorgeous beach!! Certainly one of the best in the U.P. with crystal clear waters, sandy beaches (of course), and incredible views of Grand Island, the bay, and pictured rocks. This beach, along with the old life saving station, and the marsh hike all make it a must stop to the area!

Very nice beach, easy access from the parking lot to the beach if you are handicap. Not for wheel chairs tho. But walking is close. Limited parking tho. But easy to get to other wise and swim.

Great sandy beach with shallow waters for swimming or walking. Great views of the island and island cliffs. The west facing beach is more sandy as the north facing beach is more scenic. Rock Hunters, drive to the end of the road where you have a turn around and walk to the far east end of the north beach to hunt for those awesome Lake Superior Rocks. This also has restrooms on the west beach.

Amazing color and long stretches of beach

This place is absolutely stunning both in the summer and in the winter. Exercise caution if you are heading onto ice. Micro spikes are great to explore in the winter.

Pretty, not much parking off busy & fast road. Free, you can see it without getting out of your vehicle, but if you walk up the hill you can see the top much better. Was super muddy and not a very good patch when I went in fall.

It's on the side of the highway, not really any true parking for this water fall. It's hard to get a great view of it without walking through a bit of brush. Just be careful if you park on the side of the highway because of course everyone feels entitled to go 85 mph and cares not at all if someone is walking on the edge of a road. Michigan has some of the worst drivers I have ever seen, and that's saying a lot.

A roadside waterfall, just outside of Munising. Has a nice pull off area, it is however a busy main road. Worth stopping and snapping some photos.

Alger Falls is just a small little waterfall on the side of the road. You can pull off the road here, and hike up close to the falls, and if you are really adventurous, you can hike to the upper part of the falls. There is private property in this area, so please be respectful. The road here is also very busy to so be cautions.

Nice roadside waterfall at the intersection of M-28 and M-94 east of Munising. No real parking area to get out and view falls. Definitely need to be careful of traffic.

Pretty.. Its right by the highway and I looked at it from the road I guess there was more at the top to see but I didn't go up only because the trail going up to the top was muddy and looked like a mountain goat trail.. But it was very nice even by the highway..I'm sure it's better in the spring but in August wasn't as terrific from the road then I thought

Small falls right off the main road coming into Munising. Really easy to miss if just driving by - but well worth an easy stop by pulling off the side of the road.

My fiance and I went here first, just us. We saw all the kid-friendly stuff, so had to come back with our crew. They had so much fun! They even did a gnome hunt and got hats. We spent a lot of time here feeding ducks and wandering around. The waterfall of course was the highlight of the trip.

This is a privately owned property and they charge $10 a person for entry. It's well worth that! There is a short hike to the falls and everything is kept nice. There are placards with information about the trees and land. They have a lovely garden and trout pond where you can feed the fish. The gift shop has a good variety of items and ice cream. I highly recommend stopping here.

This place was amazing! Definitely worth the small admission fee. Our son had a blast finding all the gnomes & adults get to find golden horseshoes. Fun prizes awarded at the end. The gardens are beautiful & it was fun to feed the fish & ducks. The waterfall is one of the best in the area. Easy to get to. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner & are excited for her future plans. Staff was great & gift shop had a nice variety of items. We will definitely be back again.

Absolutely perfect for the kids and parents to experience. Such a beautiful setup with many things to do. The owners of the land have taken such great care of it. Thank you for your hard work in making such a beautiful place thrive!

Not worth paying $47 for my family, They should reduce the price, even if they want to charge, Staff lady was not pleasant at all,, Other free options there nearby rather thus this,, They did not mention the price outside the store, so that the tourist go inside the store atleast! Waterfall itself is small but beautiful but not to worth pay for it when other free options there!

The falls were beautiful. The kids went on a gnome hunt which was so cute and fun for them. The gift shop had very nice things that were not overpriced like most gift shops. Ice cream was great! If you have children, I definitely recommend this place It was worth the price.

Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful waterfall but it's a total rip off to have to pay $10 per person. Especially since munising has so many more beautiful waterfalls for free.

What an amazing place! My 8 year old wanted to see it for the falls alone but it was so much more. This had to be the most charming and delightful part of our vacation. He came a tourist and left a proud gnome hunter. Absolutely worth every penny of admission.

It's a privately owned waterfall. You pay $10/person. They have a fishpond that you can buy food to feed the fish, have a botanical garden, a gift shop to buy trinkets and shirts. The walkway to the falls is very nice with little bridges. The owners have done a nice job.

This was a really neat area with a nice waterfall and a gorgeous area surrounding it. Gift shop had adorable souvenirs as well. We fed the trout and ducks in the pond with food you can purchase from old-school gum all type machines. It’s a beatific, peaceful area.

This is a beautiful area with so much to do and see. Mid July weather gave us gorgeous days to enjoy the Lakeshore and trails. A hidden treasure in my own backyard. I am a troll....first time in the UP and will not be my last. This is a great place to vacation for singles and families. If you decide to do a boat tour in Munising there are two great companies to choose from. Do you want to go fast or slow? 90 min or 120+ min? Shoreline or grand island? We chose to do the Rip Tide ride around grand island and it was fun! We seen so many amazing sights including bald eagles.

I know that looking at my three-star rating of that popular place you think to yourself “What’s wrong with her? Everybody loves Chapel Beach”, but let me explain why I didn’t like it. In the beginning I was really impressed with the stunning view of the Chapel Rock tree. I was looking at it from the water (we had kayaking tour) and decided that we need to explore that place again. On foot. So we did it and it was disappointing experience. The trail was long, easy and… boring. There were just a couple of attractive spots like a waterfall and a hidden lake. The Chapel Rock tree was incredible but it looked more impressive from the waterside than from the land. As for the beach… we hoped we can swim there but it was absolutely impossible because of HORSEFLIES. There were a billion of them there. They stung us non-stop not even taking into consideration that we had used off-spray before we stepped in their beach. So we receded as soon as possible leaving the battlefield for them. As a result that place is not the Chapel Beach for me anymore. Now I call it the Horsefly Beach.

Awesome beach. One of the best in Michigan. My friends and I went here thinking it was a quick walk to the beach... it is not, it is a decent hike but so worth it!

Love this beach probably one of my favorites! For sure a hidden gem well worth the hike! Could be a little bigger but luckily when we went there wasn't way to many people so we got to really enjoy it. Love that there is a waterfall here and of course the fact that you can still chapel rock from here. Water was perfect, ya gotta check it out :)

Picked this up as part of our 11 mile loop hike on 5/18/21. Trail was mostly fine. There are some muddy sections to hike around, and some downed trees to negotiate. Beautiful green spring growth and flowers along the way. Chapel Falls and Chapel Rock are an added bonus.

Wow it was a bit of a hike to get here but seriously loved this place, and let me say it was worth the also gorgeous hike. Make sure you have some water and snacks but the beach was STUNNING, sunk in amongst the cliffs and the water was so clear, and nice and cool. It was so gorgeous and honestly I’d do it all over again...with maybe a lighter pack next time! Haha If you can go, do it!

Really fantastic place. Chapel Rock was spectacular to see. Beach seems like a pretty nice place to drop anchor or take a break from hiking.

Stunning sandy beach, cliffs to west, falls and chapel rock to the east and Campground perched up above. The stairs down to the beach were a little sketchy but worked. If the water of lake superior was warmer this beach would be packed... great spot for summer day hikes or spend the night at the Campground on a through hike.

We would have loved to see these falls but the sign left that google is wrong and trespassers would be find is all we were able to see!!! BUMMER!!!

This waterfall has dried out and the trail no longer exists. Private property.

Closed from the main trailhead because of the locals. The only way to get there now is via the north country trail by the Munising Falls located behind the admissions building and the shop. To be completely honest it doesn’t look like the pictures from the bottom and it is a bummer that it is gate-keeped by the community.

Made the drive only to find a sign stating the falls are closed and trespassers will be fined.

This falls appears to be closed to the public. We navigated to the location indicated by Google Maps, but there were signs that the falls as well as Twin Falls were closed. Apparently on private property.

Very gorgeous waterfalls not too hard of a track in the winter time

The directions sent us to a gated closed dead end road (Nestor St.) and a no parking stop sign on pole with a fines warning. Needs to be taken off directions for it, if it's a permanently closed entry.

Absolutely gorgeous and one of my favorite waterfalls in the UP. It's not large, but so picturesque. We went the end of July after a decent period of rain and it was flowing wonderfully. Park on Washington Street next to a small brick building and then cross the street over a guard rail and you will see a small opening in the trees on the far side that has signage and some wood boardwalks. Upon entering the forest you are met with two signs, M falls and O falls. The O falls to the right will take you to Tannery Falls. A short but slightly challenging hike is all it takes. There is some roots and rocks as well as some rather steep hills to climb. You will pass by a large and stunning rock wall. Those who have trouble walking may find it difficult or impossible to reach.

Great visitor center for pictured rocks and Munising as a town. They have detailed intro video and posters. Also a good place for buying souvenirs.

Nice little center telling the history of the town as well as information in pictured rocks. It has gift store attached to it and is a good place to visit if you are waiting on a boat tour.

This is a really great place to start your visit of the area and pictured rocks. There is something for everyone and interactive areas for young children. We watched a very nice 15 minute movie about the history of the area and the people that live here. It's free and very well done.

Absolutely beautiful. The kids enjoyed playing in the falls. Nice walking path between the falls and the river.

One of my most favorite waterfalls in the Upper Peninsula! It’s not super touristy compared to other places in the U.P, especially in the off season like early-mid October. We went with are Bernese mountain dog and she had the time of her life. There’s about 5-8 parking spots & it’s 530 ft from the parking lot to the falls! It’s a semi-steep gravel path that leads to a bridge & waterfall that is part of a hydroelectric plant. Also behind the brown building there, there is another large creek going downstream that is deeper and pretty neat to see.

Definitely worth a stop - it's right off the main road. There's two viewing options with parking, and places along the way to stop. Dogs are welcome.

Great falls! The first parking area has a view and trails to the upper falls, which is pretty but has a pipe running behind it from the dam. Still, if you're up for an adventure, it's fun to get down to the falls. The hill has multiple streams flowing to the fall and river. The path also follows the river downstream through the woods to the second parking area and subsequent falls. The second parking area allows for easy access to the main falls (the gravel path does provide a workout coming back up though!). We spent more time exploring the upper falls.

A beautiful stop & one of the more secluded “quick” waterfall stops in the area. Be aware there is a hill to go down to the falls, so you have to get back up, but it’s not very steep & well worth it! There are trails you can explore as well. So pretty & peaceful.

We loved playing in this waterfall! It's small, pretty, accessible and great for the kids! Easy one to check off the waterfalls list!

We were here today, Wednesday, Aug 31st. I'm overweight/couch potato ,and so this 1 mile round trip walk was pretty easy. First part was downhill, so keep that in mind! Tons of parking, and actual restroom, well a pit toilet, requires a passport (so you pay (honor system) cash. Easy walk to the observation deck to overlook the falls. Water is shallow, you can walk down the tower of stairs down to the second or first level, there are about 70+ nice, sturdy built wooden stairs! BUMPYYYYYY road on the way IN. INTERNET IS SPOTTY! 5/5 Stars This one is great because they are smaller falls and you can walk around on them and enjoy the beauty. Perfect for kidd to enjoy some time to play in the water.

Beautiful! Short walk down a hill (not the easiest on the way up, but not awful). Great falls that when low you could possibly walk across them…TONS of mosquitoes 🦟 though and they were totally like IDGAF that you humans have bug spray on ha ha! Would have loved to explore more of the area, but the mosquitoes were not hospitable.

Beautiful soft flowing waterfall. Not tall but very wide. You can see into the hydroelectric build. Big bridge to walk over. I only walked to the bridge and back up so I can’t speak to what could be beyond that. Hill is gravel walking down. Not the worst hill I have walked up but still a good size hill. You can get into the water but places can be very slippery. Dirt road back to the parking lot. Wide enough for vehicles to pass. Only about 6-8 parking spots. Look for the signs

Tucked away and without cell service in abundance in this area you could easily miss it. We only saw the lower falls because where the access to the upper falls used to be was blocked off. The lower falls did not disappoint. Gorgeous area down a short gravel walkway- decent parking area and not super busy so there wasn’t a problem getting a spot. You literally get right up next to the falls and since it’s not busy it’s really tranquil and enjoyable. There were tons of dragon flies that were eating all the mosquitos which was awesome!!! ✨✨✨ Highly recommend seeing Au Train Falls

This was an amazing place to see easy access and a great hike. The top by the pipe was a moderate hike were boots in July. At the bottom you can get onto the Falls. There is a little pool towards the bottom take a dip if ya dare. It's cold. We made rock towers and spent 2 hours with nature. Great falls to see!!!

This is a nice walk to the falls. There is some elevation gain, but nothing extreme. If the trail is muddy or water puddles, you will get your shoes wet. There are several viewpoints once you reach the falls. You can cross the bridge and continue over to Chapel Rock, which extends your distance some. It is about 1.5 miles one way to get to the falls. It is a beautiful hike.

Mosquito Falls and Chapel Falls via Chapel loop in Munising, Mi. Parking lot fills up by about 9:00am. The road in is rough. Start the hike going clockwise. You will hike through the woods a few miles and then it opens up to the stunning Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. About 7 miles in you can walk down to the beach. The whole hike is 11.2 miles. Definitely bring water and a snack. Take all the little out trails to the shoreline. You are hiking near cliffs so don’t bring children.

Mostly my bad for not paying attention closer to the route but as soon as we got off the main road I wasn’t sure what we were in for. My CRV handled this rough terrain like a champ.. although there were many times I questioned if she’d make it with large holes on the dirt road. I saw a few smaller compact cars have to turn around as they weren’t able to make it. GPS might take you to the wrong area but there is decent signage when you land where the GPS brings you to keep going. We saw chapel falls and it was just over a 3 mile hike round trip. It was beautiful and the views of this powerful waterfall was worth it. We were on a time constraint so we did not get to see mosquito falls but it looked like it was a shorter hike. Bathrooms on site before the trails.

With the walk from the car added in, this ended up being a 8 mile loop for us. The chapel falls portion is a little longer than the other section, beautiful tree canopy on this section as well. Beach is well worth the trip. If you do the chapel falls section first, follow the trail just above the beach to find the return loop on the other side, which has a marker that says chapel parking. Great hike all around, not to be missed!

Beautiful water fall itself but also the walk thru the woods is a sight as well! The plant life along the path is just beautiful and there were even a couple of times we came across a couple of chipmunks! We don't see many of them around lower michigan anymore! The overall experience of this particular hike was a great one

Pretty easy hike of 1.6 miles from the parking lot to the Fall. Do not miss very picturesque Chappel Rock and beach for additional 1.6 miles of hike.

Gorgeous hike that didn't take long at all. We got to the trails late, maybe 5 or 6 and we were out of the woods by 7:30.

This was a dream come true and yet had it's challenges. I always wanted to camp in this forest and Oct 2021 we finally did. We stayed at a campsite on clear lake dispersed campground. There was NO information of ANY nearby (like, nearby within the forest and not to the nearest town over an hour drive away) for water or worse yet an outhouse, so if you're tent camping here, you'll need TP and a shovel and to bring your own water. What was a huge bummer is that we had to stay clear from the normal site area. There was SO much trash including a huge rubber tire and even molding pancakes that a previous user just tossed to the side. Our pup had no problem finding it and it was no fun to better dispose of it without getting it all over us. The lake, though, totally what I had drempt it would be like....oh, and thank goodness I had downloaded the gps coordinates for our site because it was the only way to find it so if you don't have that, good luck! The forest walking and surroundings, though, were constantly awe inspiring and so refreshing. Perhaps if we had stayed at a different site?

This is a big park, with lots of things to do. This is nature at it finest. There are things you will remember the rest of you life. Be prepared to enjoy Michigan.

This forest is beautiful even in the summertime. The temperature was fairly cool in the low 40s overnight but warmed up into a nice comfortable 60s for my hike. I went in July and it was a really nice experience to hike around Grand Isle. The people in the area in the rangers associated with the forest were very nice.

Simply beautiful! Lake Michigan Campground in Hiawatha Nat'l Forest is our first camping location of the many we have planned. No electricity here and the water provided is unusable for drinking or washing. Great if you can dry camp self contained as we are. Lots of tent camping here and wonderful access to the Lake!

Best beach on US2, we can't have a UP summer adventure without swimming here. Clean, clear water, highly recommended.

This place is absolutely beautiful! We took the trail to Chapel Rock, and man...it was a great hike! We will definitely be back!!!

The Soldier Lake camp grounds were very nice, clean sites with plenty of space, most trailing right down to the water. Lots of places of interest within a short drive. Simple bathrooms and clean water within a short walk, each site has a fire ring with a grill rack on a lever, and a sturdy picnic table with wheel chair access on one end.

The Hiawatha National Forest is probably my favorite place to be when I want to be around nature and nothing else. It's my Upper Peninsula Happy Place. When I'm there all my troubles and anxiety seem to fade away into oblivion. Pure Michigan at its finest!!!!

Everything was litter free and beautiful, lots of biking and hiking trails, and lots of places to kayak. The water falls up here are small and perfect for standing under on a hot day. The only complaint I have is there is no overnight parking anywhere.

Hiawatha National Forest covers so much area (879 THOUSAND acres) I knew I'd only be able to see a little bit of it. There are a number of park entrances and trails available (not necessarily with easy to find addresses). After some research, for both an accessible hiking trail and entrance, I opted for Valley Spur along M-94. A number of trail heads lead out from the large parking lot. I opted to follow the North Country Trail (NCT) for an hour+ and then turn around and return. It's a simple footpath that became a two-track where vehicles have driven in, parked, and unloaded bikes so that the mountain bikers have access to trails deep in the forest. In the area that I hiked, there was an abundance of ferns with a variety of wildflowers scattered about - along the edge of the trail and in the center strip of the two-track. I came upon Lady's Slipper for the first time - it's on my list of wildflowers to photograph and I recognized it right away. Birds were my constant companion - singing to each other from the leafy canopy. A chipmunk watched my approach from atop a rotting tree stump before scampering away when I got too close. I brought along bear spray, but never saw or heard a single one. (Phew!) The trail crosses a little creek or stream, part of the approximately 775 miles of streams and rivers in the park that empty into the Great Lakes. With the morning sunlight glistening on the water and overhanging branches, it appeared to be the ideal setting for some photographs. Alas, the waterway was home to a horde of hungry mosquitoes that swarmed around me whenever I paused to take a photo. (Perhaps they all wanted to be in a photo?) See what you can see and enjoy what you experience in this beautiful national forest.

Enjoyed our visit to both the upper and lower falls. While the signs near each set of falls are great, the set down to the upper falls gorge (116 steps) neglected to mention that once you got to the bottom you still had a good walk to the viewing area.

So this place is a more a gift shop then your typical visitor center. It is privately owned and there is a sign on the door stating this. They do have some maps and pamphlets for places in the area. The staff made some suggestions on where to go and what to see. The gift shop had a pretty decent selection of items and the prices were okay. Some of the maps you have to pay for and they claim they are better and have more places then what you find on Google. Overall visiting here put a few more places in my radar that I wouldn't have visited otherwise

Very helpful!! Nice lady assisted me. Didn’t come across nice at first. You need to be very patient it does get busy. I was able to print out my back country permits here for a small fee. If it is mentioned by employee to leave something in your window while in backcountry you are not required, so don’t do it.

Lots of neat Local Art, books, stickers & the place to buy tickets to the PRNLS cruise boats. Very nice lady runs it. No public bathrooms, in case you are wondering.

Extremely helpful. We went in to find out info for waterfalls and they gave us a free map which explained directions very well. They also have a nice gift shop.

Owners did not say hello, either of them even when I stood by the desk looking at stickers for my kayak. Real customers should be above online orders. Left without buying anything. They don't care.

We stopped by here to get our info, and the lady at the desk was so helpful and nice! She pointed out all the spots we were interested in, on the map she gave us. Bought a sticker for our window as well!

Only want you to buy $5 laminated map, $4.95 for a Michigan map. The lady making the register/information area would have you believe you can only see Pictured Rocks from the pricy boat tours. It was too foggy to see much of the water. Go to the ranger station at Muncing Falls, get the park's free maps.
