Our second time coming back. Last time was about 7 years ago. Always a great experience. The rock formations are amazing!! The underground river is awesome, with water so pure you can even drink it. The best part was in the “Great Room” when they shut off all the lights. Pure darkness. Our tour guide was Chance and he was very informative. Lots of stairs for sure but well worth it.

We absolutely LOVED coming here. It was my husband's first time going to a cavern and I'm so happy that this was his first experience. I loved how it was natiral+rugged while still feeling safe walking through. Only downside is there were some teenage boys who trailed behind the group and would splash into the water to drink some. Little annoying but didn't ruin the experience or anything!

Our tour guide was Jonah he was great! He was genuinely excited to show us the caverns and really loved his job. He made the experience even better. There are a lot of stairs and slippery paths and it's consistently 58 degrees so bring a jacket. There's lots of great views and opportunities for photos and you can even taste the spring water in the second part if you want. Would definitely recommend!

Never would have thought that this was a great MUST DO on my list. The family owned operations is welcoming and are so nice. The gift shop and history of the area are so interesting. It's well worth the money for something so interesting and a great exercise with over 400 steps and over an hour under the ground.

This place is amazing! The caves are beautifully lit up and left natural in most places, and the walkways were relatively easy for cave walkways. The underground river and waterfall were beautiful, and there were lots of interesting limestone formations. The staff and tour guides are friendly and very knowledgeable and conversational. Our guide, Abby, was super fun to talk to! Entrance fee was $25 and we got out tickets by showing up on a less busy day, but they also have reservations if you feel you need them. They said they are usually busiest on rainy days. Gift shop is cool and reasonable as well, lots of minerals and memorabilia. 10/10!

Such a cool place to visit! Word of caution for cave goers. 409 stairs total, not for people who have vertigo or height issues. There's a few tight places where you have to bend over. 4ft clearance. My 6' 5" husband made it just fine though. I had my 9 month old baby on my back in a hiking carrier the whole time and did fine.

I'm not sure where to begin with my experience At Tuckaleechee Caverns besides saying it was such an amazing experience! I'd highly recommend this tour. Our tour guide Brandy was the perfect guide for this adventure. Her enthusiasm and countless puns made for a very memorable day. I've walked through a few caves in my life but nothing like this. Oh, and wait till she turns the lights out! A very calming and peaceful experience in itself. Also the echoing in the caves are neat too. I will walk this tour again one day. Thank you so much TC and Brandy for an unforgettable experience!

Lizzie was our tour guide and she was phenomenal. Our kids had a great time and I would go again there are some tight squeezes My boyfriend is 6 foot and he made it through fine and so did my 80 year old grandpa and you do see off some ledges so if you are afraid of heights, I would not recommend also, there are quite a few stairs, so keep that in mind ! I would definitely recommend taking a sweatshirt with I was in shorts and I was so glad I had my sweatshirt or I would’ve been freezing. It is about 50° down there And breezy we also seen a bear right by the parking lot so be cautious and don’t approach them

My family and I went and we had a blast. Our tour guide was awesome and did a great job educating us all about the cave, its history, even some geology and chemistry as we were walking through! I also appreciated that it was family owned/operated and that many of the fam members were there working that very day. Lots of steps, wasn't hard for me, but if you have any mobility issues it could be daunting.

This was such a great experience!!! Very comfortable to get here from Townsend (lots of signs guiding you throughout) and they had ample parking space out front. We bought our tickets (no online reservation was necessary) in the shop and bought some fudge and a Smokies shot glass as we waited for our turn. The fudge is really good! Lizzie was our guide and she was very knowledgeable. We saw many formations in the caves that have developed so beautifully over the years. The highlights of the tour are when they switch off the lights in the cave and of course, the pretty waterfall. The cave has quite a few steps up and down and in some areas you'll have to bend and walk as the roof of the cave is very low. We highly recommend this wonderful experience!

This was a very cool cavern! It's very well lit, so bringing a flashlight is unnecessary here. The tour guide was very friendly and energetic and informative the entire time we were there. I decided to bring my two toddlers, which was a gamble that turned out well. The cavern includes a waterfall, a wishing well, and a spring running through it. The path can be a little damp and there are lots of stairs so make sure to wear good shoes.

Absolutely amazing spot. They are a guided tour which is actually a must, because this place is MASSIVE! you will have an amazing experience and love it! There will be a few times where u need to watch your head because it gets to about a 4 foot clearance. Well worth the $22 to enter and I don't day that lightly. You go over half a mile into the tavern, there is a double waterfall inside with crystal clear water, and pictures that are amazing. 100% worth the entrance.

These caverns were absolutely amazing and our tour guide did a great job at explaining everything and telling us the history of the Taverns. This is one of those places that I highly recommend, however once you visit one time, that will suffice. If you were claustrophobic or have a problem with Steps, this is not the place to go to. Luckily we had an amazing time it was fun and we got a great workout in. However there were some taller people that were struggling and people that are not good with steps had a little bit of a difficult time because there are over 400 steps that you have to take throughout the whole tour. However this place was awesome!

A wonderful cave tour. Lots of different geological sites to see. The tour was roughly about a mile and took us about 1hr 30 min to complete. I never felt unsafe or in any dangerous situations. There are a quite few steps, but nothing too strenuous. Our guide Brandy did an awesome job and you can tell that she loves what she is doing. Our teenage boys found the tour to be interesting. A good morning well spent’

This was the second cavern I have been to but I really liked this one. Tour guide was pretty good but just make sure you have some warm jacket or sweatshirt on as it gets pretty cool on the cave. Good shoes will help as you walk a lot and walk on stairs or uneven surface. Overall experience was 5 star

Wonderful tour that was very informative. Probably one of the biggest cavern tours I've seen, there was a lot covered in the hour long tour. The steps weren't too bad for us and the bats stayed away for our visit! Also we got the peanut butter fudge which was delicious.

I had a great time. Had I researched it/planned it and known what to expect.. I'm not sure I would have done it. 🤣😂 I have a lot of anxiety, and I'm a little claustrophobic. That was REALLY far down and a lot of steps through some sketchy but stable paths... Once I got to the bottom... panic set in... just how far down I was.. and I'm not in the best shape... I talked myself silently out of a panic attack... 😛🥹🤣 told myself people do this all the time!!!! -- BUT, I DID enjoy the tour! It was informative because the guide had a lot of information... It was amazing looking in there, and I can say "I did it!" It was very pretty!!!

I have done a lot of caves, and this is one of the best! I absolutely loved it. Our younger male guide (blondish longer hair) was so sweet and very informative while keeping the cave protected. I loved it. If you can't do stairs very well, be cautious. There are like 200 plus stairs. I did t them easily. Don't miss out! Enjoy!!!

The guide that told us the history of the caverns was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. We went as a school group. The caverns themselves were a sight to behold. The constant flowing water through the caverns was both awesome and soothing. Be prepared for some healthy walking. There are quite a few steps/stairs. But, continued railing to help you along.

As someone that's been to Mammoth Caves, this is a small cave, but 100% worth seeing while in the area. The sounds of the stream running through it is beautiful, with an underground waterfall as well! I had seen another review saying the water in the stream was drinkable, I asked my tour guide and he confirmed. The water simply tastes like... water lol. Would be an excellent retreat from the heat in the summertime as it's nice and cool in the cave.

Really cool caverns. Guided tour was an hour and a half and included large cavern rooms, underground spring, waterfall, and all sorts of rock formations. A must stop in my book. Great option for a rainy day during a Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg stay especially.

The day we visited was very busy and had a line out the door, but we only waited in line for tickets about 10 minutes maybe. The tour lasted a little over an hour. The guides were very knowledgeable and did a great job managing group passings down below. My favorite part was the beach, but the big room was pretty cool too. There's a waterfall, and some very unique formations to see as well. In the lobby are fossils and animal bones on display that have been found in these ancient caverns. Theres also a gift shop with drinks and fudge for sale. Highly recommend putting this on your list of things to do while visiting the Smokey Mountains. There's also a horse riding place on your drive in and out to the caverns owned by the same family. Same level of expertise and professionalism there and another fun activity to do.

Amazing, above expectations! Compared to other caverns, this one is very wide and open. The largest and longest we’ve seen so far! The Big Room was HUGE! And the waterfall at the end was a very pleasant surprise. The tour was not rushed, which gave us enough time to look around, appreciate the beauty of the cavern and take pictures. Our tour guide Chase was very kind and willing to answer to all our questions. (Remember to bring cash with you for tips!) A must do if you’re in the Smoky Mountains!

Great place for the whole family to have a history lesson/ science lesson. If you can't walk 400 plus steps this place is not for you. If you need to get your kids to burn off energy this is the place to go. It's a little over a mile hike , going down about 500 feet

This was soooo much fun and such great value for money!! We purchased the tickets in advance and this helped us save about $10 per ticket and also helped us keep our appointment time (others were asked to come back 1.5hrs later as slots was completely booked). There is ample parking space and restrooms/changing rooms in both outposts A and B. We went on a holiday so the queue to check in was really long. We realize later that there is also a check in at outpost B that is relatively less crowded. Outpost B is a shorter route and definitely more adventurous with 3 amazing rapids. It is less crowded than Outpost A which is more popular, longer, has many smaller rapids and the rock jumps. We started with outpost B (went through it twice) and then went to outpost A. Having a stick really helps push yourself in the calm waters! Happy tubing.. we would love to come back here someday.

We had a great time, water was cold but felt good to me with the heat, very clean facility. Easy and quick pick up at the end of ride so you can go again. Price was awesome, would suggest getting one of the paddles to help you control your tube, can't take anything as far as ice chest is just you on a tube that has 2 handles and the life jacket they require you have, you don't have to wear it but have to keep it with you.

Took a large group of 14 ages 5-69! Water was low so some of us went slower and got stuck on rocks, but overall very fun time! Point A is for all family and has a spot to stop and jump off rocks for those brave enough to do so! Very busy, so don't go if you want a serene float down river. Point B has more rapids and is shorter but with low water it was difficult to navigate. Would try again when water is at normal level. More peaceful because less people on river. Float by lots of busy campgrounds and people are in water having fun, but still peaceful. Cost is very reasonable for all day adventure, but make sure to purchase prior to visit.

We had a blast! We went down the family friendly side with my family and we all had a great time. I highly suggest to buy a stick or paddle, it helped us several times. Sometimes the water is very low and you get a little stuck within the rocks and need a little push, or you might come to an area that the water is not moving as much and need an extra little push with the paddle. In the area where the rocks are for you to jump off, keep a close eye on your tubes. We had an extremely rude grown man take our tubes after I repeatedly told him it was my husband and sons, he did not care and walked over me and stole them from us. It might be helpful to have staff keep an eye on this area as I felt very uncomfortable having a grown man walk over me and take my belongings.

My wife and I went tubing here for the day and it was a great experience. There are two separate outposts, and you can do both (and you might as well because you pay for it) and they're within a mile of each other. Definitely kid friendly and even pet friendly (you can put your dog in a special tube if you want) the staff were very cheerful and helpful as well. If you make a reservation online you will save approximately $5 per person. The main stretch takes about 2 hours to float down the river from start to finish while the second one is only about an hour. (2 miles, and one mile, respectively). Highly recommend if your on vacation or even just a relaxing day on the river. You need to either bring water shoes with you or purchase a pair there because when the water is low you have get out of your tube and walk short distances on slippery rocks. I would also recommend bringing a long walking stick or buying one there to help push off rocks if you get stuck. Overall has a great time here would definitely recommend.

Even with a long line and humidity, wait time moved along quickly and we were greeted with a cold water hose and friendly staff. Perfect place to experience Tennessee with family visiting from out of state. Found our new favorite place in the warmer months. We will for sure be coming back.

Great place for family's to have a good time. There was a food truck available to get some snacks with a little picnic area to sit. The store had sunscreen, hats and water shoes available to purchase should you need them. All the staff was very helpful and friendly. The process to buy tickets was quick and easy. Everyone in the group had a blast.

Outstanding service from ALL employees, beginning to end. No need to buy trip needs from Walmart etc... not only is trip reasonably priced, buy shoes, oar for pushing, dry bags, all competitive prices, they don't trap you at last minute for buying there. Do not fret crowds, always looked packed when we drove by, we live here, but finally decided to try it with grandchildren visit, looks crowded, is not, plenty of parking, fast moving ticketing, life vest dressing (no add charge), tube and river entry. Crowd breaks up and go at your own pace. All this at july 4 week... wish we had gone sooner.

This 2as one of our absolute favorite things too do... We would have done it a 2nd time if we hadn't already made plans for something else.. it was awesome, beautiful views.. calm floating and then several awesome rapids, definitely plan on getting wet... I recommend getting a paddle or stick.. 10 out of 10 of things to do on Vaca!! Definitely bring a bad to keep your items dry, plenty of calm rafting for pics.. we might go back and bring the dogs🐶❤️..

River tubing was an absolute blast! Outpost A took about 2 hours and was pretty smooth except for a few bumpy parts. Outpost B took about an hour but had more intense rapids. I highly recommend getting a push stick to help you along the river (they sell them for $7 in the gift shop). Also highly recommend a waterproof phone pouch to take on the river with you

Really fun for all! Came with my 5 year old nephew. We did outpost A & B. A is more calmer waters & B is more rapids and way shorter float time. You pay for both though. PAY IN ADVANCE ONLINE. They sell out fast and you will have to wait. The whole thing last about 2-4 hours. Pretty views. Check the website for water levels because we went when the water was average and there were spots we had to get out and walk or we got stuck. They sold “push sticks” and paddles for this reason. So if water is super low it may not be the best time to go. Plenty of spots to swim and there is a really good burger restaurant next to outpost B ! Check it out!

This was our second visit and so worth it. One of my favorites. Great family experience for all ages. Staff is very friendly and a very organized process, all the working parts move smoothly. Recommend booking online and at least a day in advance. Will save you money and guarantee you will have a spot. We booked the day of on our most recent trip and we were still able to get our group of 8 but it is extra per person to book the day of. The scenery is beautiful and a nice mix of lazy, chill floating and other areas that move faster and a little bumpy. The water is cold but very refreshing! About half way down the river is a neat spot to stop and there is a deep hole where they have installed a ladder on a piece of rock. You can climb out and jump in. Nice bit of adventure along the way. There are picnic tables you could pack a lunch and eat on the property before or after you float down the river. The grounds are surrounded by beautiful mountain views and everything is kept very clean. The shop items are very reasonably priced for water shoes, paddles and sticks to use while you tube if you forget to bring any items. Life jackets are provided for all sizes. There are changing rooms as well. You could make a whole day of it if you wanted. Between both our trips we had my 3 sons, my nephew and nieces between ages 5-16 and they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The float was nice, except for the fact that the current is not strong enough to keep you moving if the water level is "average". My group was perfectly capable of getting ourselves downstream, but anyone who cannot easily get themselves in and up from the float should not be allowed to go. Our group had to help 3 separate older people get to the exit. They were unable to move because the water wasn't flowing in some areas and they were trapped. Two people were pushed from about halfway and another was helped from the end to the exit. One of the people had previously suffered strokes and his left side was limp for the most part. Why on earth would they allow someone to go if it puts them and anyone helping them in danger.?. They need safety precautions in place and to ensure those going understand they need to be strong enough to get themselves downstream in some areas.

Such a fun experience! Our Guide Liam was super awesome he gave us the best white water rafting experience! Would go back again!

Amazing trails, great horses and when better staff. It was fun and beautiful. The horses knew where to go and they did really well at keeping our group together. We will be back

We had a blast ziplining here!! Friendly people own this place and the long 13000 foot line has the best view going down! ❤ Our 7 and 9 year old were so brave and went down the lines too! They said, "That was EPIC!"

We went today with two girlfriends and had so much fun, I got to ride Joe, an amazing horse, it was their first time but the horses know what to do and the views... it is totally worth it. We live in charlotte but definitely coming back when we are in the area.

Beautiful mountain experience with amazing views. The staff was incredibly kind and genuine. 10/10 Clyde and Trigger were amazing mounts!

10/10 experience unlike any other! You and your family can ride a horse on the most beautiful trail without a guide needed. These horses are extremely well trained and sure footed on the rocky terrain. The horses know exactly where to go and you can sit back and relax and look at the amazing scenery and take pictures with your phone. At the top the mountain the horses bring you to an overlook where the staff met us to take pictures for us! The ride is about an hour long and takes you through the mountains and by a creek. Breathtaking views! The horses are calm and well mannered, even for beginners. The staff was very nice and helpful and you can tell they really know and care for the animals and the property. The owner was extremely accommodating when my boyfriend was over their weight limit and found us a heavier built horse form him to ride. One of the best parts of our vacation!

Went here with my husband on our honeymoon, he has very little experience and the horses took great care of him. They know the trail and require little/no steering. Love that it was unguided and we could go at our own pace. The view was outstanding and the people are very kind as well! Very reasonably priced for a trail ride! Was met at the top to get our photos taken, which is a very nice touch! Over all an amazing experience and highlight of our trip!! Would definitely go back!!

So much fun, amazing views, great people! You don’t need a guide because the horses are the guide. They are even trained to stop at the picture spot on top of the mountain. I have experience, but I don’t think you would need any. A child could ride these well mannered guys especially since you don’t really need to steer them. We rode Jack and Blaze and absolutely loved them. You can go at your pace (fast or slow) because you aren’t waiting on another group. It’s rare to find a riding place that will give you freedom over that. We were able to trot and canter, but the horses would have been just as happy to walk slow for you. It’s about an hour ride, and I don’t think you can beat the price. The people were very friendly. I would definitely go back!

Had a great time last week. Less busy than river rat. Staff was great. Changing rooms available. Tubes were better than river rat. Longer ride down the river than river rat and can go as much as you want at no extra charge. Wear footwear that will stay on. River is rocky and shallow at times. Had a blast with my family. Our ages range from 7 to 70. Grandma got stuck a few times on some rocks and we all enjoyed the entertainment of her trying to get unstuck.

Fun in the river. Nice couple that owns business very helpful. Nice ride on tube. Some rapids fun. Tube can get stuck on rocks. Can be hard to get loose. I appreciate a fellow tuber for getting me unstuck from rocks a few times. This route is longer than other other tube businesses.

We went on a cloudy day hoping there wouldn't be too many tubers on the river. We walked in, paid, and were loaded up to start floating the river within 10 minutes. They drop off right at the park entrance and have an easy exit point right behind where you check in. Tubes have a mesh bottom so bring a water bottle with you. Also get a waterproof case for your phone to grab photos along the way and goggles to catch a glimpse of trout during the float. Make sure you jump out at the various swimming holes and swim between rapids... there are 3 or 4 swimming holes with the largest right before exit area. Bring a picnic with you as there are outdoor games and plenty of picnic tables and benches at the check in to enjoy a day on the river. You can float as many times as you want same day which made the rate worth it. This is the longest float on the river. The other tubing company had an exit about 2/3 the length of River Rage and before the good swimming holes.

I just spent 2 enjoyable hours wandering the museum, watching the short video and walking around and/or in the historic buildings. Lots of history of first the native Americans (on the museum part) and then settlers who toiled to make this area home. It really makes you appreciate being born in this current time. The also have an old car/buggy/cart/sled/etc section in a connected side building. Well worth the $12 admission

Bought an interesting and educational book from this location. Birds of the great smoky mountains and some souvenir shirts. Visited the museum and explored the history of the area.

Very well organized and informative. The displays inside were particularly interesting to me. The restored buildings were well done and the underground moonshine exhibit was fascinating and unusual. My husband really enjoyed the transportation museum.

We had a great time. The museum was open and informative. This town called Townsend is beautiful! Please visit Cades Cove! We seen many bear on Rich Mill road.

A great experience. There are several preserved homesteads from the Smoky Mtns. The homes were relocated here and preserved. Many indian artifacts and a good way to step back in time and pay respect to how people lived a hundred years ago. A must stop for someone interested in the history of the area.

The Native American exhibit was very informative and interesting. We had a great time at the Country Fair! The ballad swap was our favorite

We highly recommend this company if you are having an event in the Smoky Mountains and in need of shuttle services! We used 3 buses to shuttle guests to and from our wedding at Spence Cabin/Appalachian Clubhouse. Jill was awesome as she was always available to answer any questions we had as we figured out the logistics approaching the big day. Guests were able to park and leave their vehicles at the Heritage Center in order to take the shuttles. This was especially important because cell service was nonexistent making the day of coordination difficult. Having all their personnel being timely and reliable took a lot of pressure off. A fun fact, these drivers are the local tour guides. Our wedding guests raved about the drivers giving them a history tour and even stopping at a waterfall on the way up to the ceremony. Thanks again!

Great museum! Very informative and outside set up like a real village. Loved it!

This place was packed with history. Me personally I love history so my rating for historical places and museums will always get a five. I really like the older boilers and inventions for the saw mills. The old houses and history of the building of the town.

Absolutely 💯 dreamy!!! Makes you think your experiencing an old fashioned Christmas... Something like a movie!!! Made me think of Dolly Parton

You must visit! Wonderful nicely restored and furnished original cabin and building structures. The museum is very interesting. We bought $189 artwork there that we love of the smokey mountains and t-shirts. The Native America museum section is excellent and very interesting. Support this wonderful non-profit by a short drive from Gatlinburg to visit in Townsend.

Ticket over priced. Expected more artifacts in the museum. Restorations done in modern way not to look the way would have in the time built. Saw mill is amazing and the tragonia elm tree is one of a kind . Staff extremely nice.

Cool palce to see the SM history! Takes about 45 mins to walk through though, so make sure you have time!

We were visiting from out of town and were glad to join to celebrate the blue ribbon fair. We only had to pay the $5 fee (Donations were also accepted) to park and then the heritage center, visitor's center event, and lumber & railroad museum were included for free. My husband and I loved the historical buildings and the museum. Everyone at the event was super nice! Definitely a great place to visit! We have already recommended to several family members!

The museum was closed the day we stopped by because it was the off season. These photos were taken in March. The boys had fun looking at the growns.

Cute little museum. Not really for little ones- I was disappointed in that note. They have a small track outside for no reason- no train on it and kids can't play on it. The real train cool but again- you can't get on it- but you can go up to it at least. Looks like they could use more funding. The lady there is sweet Ns helpful. But it is FREE!

It was closed when we tried to visit.. but still had historic signs to read outside along w/ a train and some machinery! The young kids enjoyed it.

A nice place to get out and get hands on with trains and item's from the past. I didn't post pictures of the museum, not to mess up the surprise! The wonderful couple running the shop and museum are great. Don't forget to sign the guest book.

Great little stop for train enthusiasts or anyone interested in local history. The nice woman managing the site was informative and friendly. Way more than expected, not only a shay steam loco to check out but also an informative museum in an old depot and a nice little gift shop.

Went to Little River Railroad museum for a visit. This is a road side gem in Townsend Tennessee. I'm now 52 years old and have been there as a child. It tells about the lumber rail system in Walland. They have a beautiful locomotive, lumber cars, steam equipment, track, water tower and various historical and informative structures. The museum has tons of artifacts. They have an awesome gift shop full of railroad related merchandise. The lady that works there is very sweet and knowledgeable on the railroad. The museum is free but please leave a donation in the many boxes on site. That is how we will ensure this museum stays in our community. Purchase something in the gift shop as well. We must show our support for this wonderful little museum.

The Little River Railroad/Lumber Company was a pleasant experience. Rich history of the Townsend area and Great Smoky Mountains. We enjoyed all of the Relics and information given in their museum collection. With free admission, the gift shop is definitely worth the stop; reasonable prices and friendly staff. Mrs Jonell had bear stories and information regarding the train "Dorthy." Thanks to all!

Cute little spot to spend a few minutes reading about the history and taking pictures with Dorothy the engine. Gift shop lady was knowledgeable about area but didn’t seem as knowledgeable about the train part.

This museum is full of Townsend history. The museum is free to the public and we’ll worth the stop. You can go through the air conditioned museum and browse around outside and look at the engine and pieces outside. They do have water, shirts and merchandise for sale in the gift shop area.

Such a cute little place and the lady that was working was so friendly and the kids loved it

So fun!! When we went during nice weather, there was an electric train outside that kids got to control as well. Very fun and informative. The gift shop is a great spot for souvenirs or gifts for any occasion. A nice variety of things. The history was so cool to read too. I need to go back to finish!

This was the best museum I have been to. The building is setup beautifully, very descriptive, captivating material, and very clean. Their content is curated with great care and it shows. Cute little gift shop for the little or big train enthusiasts back home. The attending staff member was very knowledgeable of the town, park history, and the area. A great pleasure to talk to! Such a wonderful gem that's free, donations are recommended.

This was a wonderful place to stop. We enjoyed the history this place had an amazing guide. Please stop if your in the area visit sign the guest book they run off volunteers and donations. Seeing the history there is even a little bridge close and for our geocache travelers there is a good kept up one at this location.

Cute little place to stop at. They have a few things you can see outside and also a building with some of the railroad history if the area and a gift shop. There are also bathrooms on the premises. It's free and quite interesting so if you are in the area its worth a stop.

To preface this, I'm not a wine drinker. My wife does enjoy wine from time to time, so we stopped in. They will be give you 4 free samples of any of their wines, of which they have approximately 15-20. Ended up buying 3 bottles because of good they tasted! I recommend the Firefly wine, very tasty!

My wife and I stopped at Cades Cove Cellars because it was part of the wine trail. So glad we did!! The store had an excellent selection of items to purchase. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed every sample we tried. If you have never had muscadine wine, you need to try it. If you are planning on checking our Cades Cove, make sure you stop in and try some wine.

This location was our fifth and last stop on the wine trail. Compared to the previous locations we visited, this was by far the least hospitable. The lady who did our tasting was unfriendly and did not offer any information of the wine we sampled. Basically, she told us what she was pouring and that was it. Compared to other wineries we visited, she was very unengaging and offered no suggestions or recommendations. It was like we were bothering her. During the tasting, she was more interested in talking with her workmate rather than a potential customer. In the end, we decided not to purchase anything from this winery due to the unfriendly treatment we received.

Out for the day from Knoxville. Loved stopping in here. They had wonderful trinkets and gifts, a warm fire to toast by for a few minutes and knowledgeable staff that know their products. Walked away with some fun things and a bottle of Abrams Falls that will be shared with friends I'm looking forward to wandering down to the Cellars the next time I get a chance.

My favorite wine and winery, hands down. I buy enough wine every time I go to get me through until my next trip to Tennessee. It's the only wine I drink.

Beautiful location for starts. The two women inside were friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Only planned on buying one bottle but actually walked out with two, one white and one red. This will be the only place I buy my wine from now.

Beautiful setting and good service. The wine tasting was nice and I would have given 5 stars if the winery respected their wine more. I purchased 4 bottles, ($22-$30 each), got home to find out they didn't have corks. "Screw Top", like the cheapest wine at the grocery store. Very disappointed 😞. Bottles don't fit a standard wine stopper, so when you open one, plan on drinking it all at once. On a good note, they were puppy friendly and had a veteran discount 👍

Scenery was beautiful. Traffic was awful. People would just stop in the middle of the road instead of pulling off as they were instructed.

Best wines we’ve tasted anywhere around Cades Cove or Wears Valley. I highly recommend the Red Muscadine Sweet! It’s groovy 😵‍💫😵‍💫

We were staying down the road at a little cabin and decided to stop in on a Sunday midday for a tasting. We were so pleased to see the strict Covid measures this business is taking to not only protect their customers, but to also protect their employees! We were asked to place our masks back onto our faces in between tastings and we reused the same tasting glasses. Definitely worth it to keep everyone safe and still enjoy the great selections this winery has! We loved every tasting we tried so it was hard to choose, but that’s a good problem to have. We walked away with two Cades Cove winery glasses and a bottle, super happy with the service and experience. If you’re in the area, please give this winery your business. They are incredible!

I'm used to wine tasting in Virginia which are usually slower and more insightful about the particular wines. Those tasting are usually paid for. In TN it is a bit different. The tastings are free but they are rushed with less information about each wine. At least that was my experience here. The wines are good but the "experience" is just ok.

They are a great group of people. Very helpful and great atmosphere. I have been there Everytime in Townsend, I didn't pay attention about wheelchair information.

Great winery with very nice staff! I did a tasting and ended up buying three bottles. The worker let me know about their 3 bottle discount and member program so that really sealed the deal on that last bottle that I knew I wanted anyway! The Laurel Blush was my favorite!!!!

Super cute vistor center in Townsend, TN! The quilts show from the local Quilting Guild was very well done. The workmanship was phenomenal. The gift shop was fantastic with great gift ideas and high-quality products. The staff was very friendly and so talkative. We will be back next time we are on the peaceful side of the mountains.

First time to the Big foot Festival!! So much going on. Lots of skilled vendors and tons of food vendors. And the guest are pretty cool. But if you wanna meet them u better come EARLY. ITS A LOOOONG WAIT.

Always something new to discover at the Townsend Visitors Center!! The exhibitions I’ve seen there are always fascinating and always with local artisans. The festivals I’ve had the good fortune to attend are well organized and fun! This Center is a wonderful asset to my favorite eclectic town on the Peaceful Side of the Smokies! The restrooms are kept neat and clean for that last minute refreshing break before hitting SMNP. The staff is knowledgeable about local trails, Townsend attractions and of course Smoky Mountain NP!!

Such a cute place. I visited both on arrival and departure . I was able to grab all my travel booklets for activity planning and souvenirs like mugs, stickers, and shirts. In the back, are picnic tables with lovely little view of the mountains. Nice place for a sit down or maybe picnic. You can also get the parking pass and I recommend getting the peaceful side of the smokies passport. Had lots of fun in this adorable little town! Thanks.

The Townsend Visitors Center is a great place to gather information on things to do in the Smokies. The staff are wonderful, so helpful! The building and grounds are clean and well-maintained. This weekend's balloon festival was so much fun!

The balloon festival was beautiful, but planning was poor. We bought the vip package. Due to how the area was roped off the general public had better views and seating. Plus there was a food truck parked right in front of the viewing area. To see all the balloons, you had to stand in certain areas. Even then you had the public sitting walking and popping up shade tents in front of you. The only plus was vip rode the balloons first. If its set up the same way next time we'll do general admission.

We always stop here when we visit Townsend. You can be sure to find great souvenirs and interesting books about the area. We love reading the history of the people who lived in Cades Cove which is just about 20 minutes from here. The staff are always friendly and have many interesting stories to share. Be sure to ask about local events, and pick up some of their free literature. It's a great resource for finding things to do.

The Townsend Visitor Center is a great place to start for all your vacation questions. Get information on current events for the week pick up your parking passes and also get maps to the area. Nice little gift shop too.

Nice visitors center located right outside the park in Townsend, TN. There’s a room inside their building displayed with beautiful handmade quilts by the Foothills Quilters Guild. You can also pick up a valid parking tag to enter the park.

I stop here every time I go to Townsend. They're really good about knowing what trails are open and closed, and letting you know what to expect hiking that day. I'm sure they know lots more, but that's usually what I ask about before hiking. Everyone is really nice and helpful, and sometimes you learn things about the area you never knew before. There are all kinds of souvenirs, t-shirts, hats, stuffed animals, books, maps, and other things as well. Definitely worth stopping by.

Not being from the area, we didn't know what to expect; but we stopped to check it out anyway. It was much smaller than I thought it was going to be, and in a residential area which I was not expecting. Once we got there we found that there is no place to park, so we had to park at a restaurant up the road and walk down to the bridge. We got to the other side and found that it is all private property and you can't actually step off of the bridge. It was still a nice stop though and only a few minutes out of the way for us.

Waste of time. Bridge is cool with a pretty view of water, but absolute waste of time. Surrounded by private property on both sides, so you can't go down to water. Also you need to park at the adjacent "abbey" building and walk over. Not easy for people with disabilities or walkers.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Round House. Great central location for lots of activities. Wonderful owners and staff. Don't miss The Abbey for amazing food and great beer.

As a Smoky Mountain and Knoxville wedding photographer, I love this hidden gem of a wedding venue! The surrounding natural plants and mountains create stunning photos for any couple!

Very bad business, the owner is really rude and my pictures turned out really bad.

I was lucky enough to go before a massive storm. Very glad I found it. It wasn't too bad, but keep in mind the area us rather small. Not much parking, so get there early. Even with all the people we were able to have a secluded area to set up chairs and have a picnic lunch. The water is SO REFRESHING. There was an area to just sit and an area to do some rapid tubing. (But I gather that can change with a storm) saw a few people with dog all in all it was a lovely time. I would not recommend going after storm if you or your party are not strom swimmers

SO much fun. Freezing cold water with a rocky (but smooth rocks) river bottom - water shoes are nice but certainly not necessary. Deep swimming hole to the right of parking (you can jump off some of the rocks if you make sure the water is deep enough and clear of rocks first.) Shallow pool with little current to the left of the parking lot great for toddlers. Strong current to float down on tubes/on your own out in the middle of the river (definitely be cautious with weak swimmers.)

I've been coming to this spot for 20 years, pretty much ever since my family moved here as a child. The only real change they've made recently was that you need to get a parking pass for anywhere in the national park which apparently you can purchase at any visitor center... I think it's a little ridiculous that they're charging locals this fee also. Besides it being very crowded during the summer it took us maybe 10 minutes to get a parking spot up front. Great place to swim and relax.

Great place to hang out and enjoy a picnic. Been there several times, will be back for sure !

What a way to start our Smoky Mountain adventure this morning! We pulled over at the Townsend Wye to observe this beautiful sight of the rushing waters and we saw a buck making his way into the water. We were in awe as he glanced our way and continued as if we weren't there. Just an awesome sight!

Tennessee Vacation must swim. Cold natural river water. Slimey river rocks. Good for a tube or snorkeling. Wish we got to go more than once on our trip

Tuesday we hiked the Roundtop Trail. Total distance 7.5 miles. We left one vehicle at the Townsend "Y" and our other vechicle at the TH on Wear Cove Road. Pics 2 and 3 were taken at Bunches Bald on the BRP about 12 hours apart. Early morning elk pics were taken at Cherokee in the field next to the Visitors Center. We started at the TH on Wear Cove Road. Elevation gain is slow and steady, path is wide, but in several places covered in acorns 🌰🌰 which makes falling easy. With no rain for over 7 days the only water we had to deal with was at the Townsend "Y" crossing the Little River. Even with no rain there were multiple places where the water was chest+ deep based on the swimmers we saw, so you want to check the river when you leave your vechicle, make sure you can cross. On the way home we saw a big bull elk 🦌who was working hard to keep his heard together and challenging anything that came close. His message was simple: "Leave my girls alone, find your own" Rut Season is in full swing, give then their space. Until next time, Safe Hiking Everyone. 🥾

This is one of our favorite river areas to get in! The area is beautiful and really easy to access. There are shallow areas right near the shore for the younger kids. There are deeper areas for the people that actually want to swim. I definitely recommend this place!

On the way to Great Smoky Mountains NP, we stopped here at Townsend Wye. It is popular for its swimming hole. There are multiple parking lots and turnouts where you can leave your car safely and enjoy the amazing view of the Little River with the smokey mountain range as the backdrop. Besides swimming, you can also go tubing, biking, hiking or just relaxing and having a picnic. Highly recommend it.

Very cool little gem! We stopped to check it out, and wished we had more time to spend the day here. Bring inner tubes, wear bathing suits and swim shoes! The water is cool and refreshing, and there's shallow rapids, followed by a little swimming hole. Bring a small grill and grill out lunch and spend the whole day here! Definitely on our list of things to do when we come back.

Beautiful to say the least.. fun for the family. Great tubing..If only people would quit leaving their trash in our mountains.. please tourist have a great time!! But if us locals catch you trashing our hills then words will be said.. same goes to the disrespectful "locals". Safe travels yall!!

Wonderful organization doing vital work to help orphaned cubs and struggling yearlings return to the wild where they can live their best bear lives.

the ABR does a great job of caring for orphaned and injured cubs from TN and other surrounding states. The visitor center is nice and offers plenty of gifts to help the cause.

This place is amazing. They are doing wonderful things to help rescued black bear cubs.

We try to stop in when we visit Townsend. It is a small souvenir shop and the proceeds go to help put orphaned bears back into the wild. The volunteer that was there was very friendly and helpful.

Bear rescue. Gift shop and donations. The lady on site was very helpful and informative. We really enjoyed our visit and learned a lot.

Very nice place with lots of pictures and info about the rescued bears. Very friendly and informative lady working that day. Nice merchandise for sale. They also have an area for kids and educating them about the bears.

This was our second time here and we loved it every bit as the first. The trails gorgeous and the staff here is so friendly. Our guide was Sierra both times and would definitely request her again, she was so sweet & patient with my 3 year old daughter, who has a intense passion for horses. We will definitely be back!

It was a wonderful experience . I was initially hesitant to get on the horse but once it started it all felt okay. It was a one hour ride. The views in the mountains was beautiful. We need to book slot in advance. They charged approximately 35$ for adults and 15$ for kids.

What an awesome find out here in the Smokey Mountains. I took my family here with both my boys (ages 11 and 8) here to ride with it being there first time ever. It was an amazing experience as a parent! We had Kelly for our guide and he talked with my youngest and helped coach him and my oldest from start to finish with care and control. Couldn’t have asked for someone to work better with my boys and help them get comfortable with riding. The youngest since has asked every day since to go back and ride “his horse Doc”. That’s how you know it was a win!

Not your usual ride. The staff was super professional and made sure that everyone’s saddles were fit correctly. The views and scenery were fabulous. The horses are not just push button, they do respond to commands. Although we did have one incident with a tree, but the staff was very caring and attentive to our wounded, horses will be horses lol. We will definitely be going back!

Each horse matched our personalities. Did well picking horses for the kids. Guides were professional and courteous. Started on time. Rode through the mountains and woods were great! Worth every penny! Would do it again!

We booked a one hour ride and it was amazing. Our horses were awesome and knew exactly what to do. The guide was a blast. We got lucky to be able to ride with just us and the guide. He reassured me of being nervous, turning this trip into an amazing experience. We saw owls and deer on our ride. Do not horseback ride in a pasture. He had us on all sorts of trails.

I took my adult son who has Downs Syndrome who has never ridden before. They were able to get him into saddle on the first try. They were very patient and made sure that my son felt safe and comfortable with horse. The guides and owner were wonderful. The horses were gentle. It was an hour ride through wooded land with many hills and valleys. Thanks so much for giving Robert a wonderful time today. He was all smiles at end of ride.

Our second time visiting. We love riding with Davy Crockett! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. On our ride there was grandparents with their grandkids and they went above and beyond to make sure the kids knew what to do and that they had fun. Will definitely be back to ride again. My wife's horse was Copper and my horse was Rapunzel. Well worth a visit to Davy Crockett.

My husband and I had so much fun riding at Davy Crockett Riding Stables. The staff was kind, helpful, and down to earth. The horses in our group were calm, obedient, and nice. We had one horse in the group that tried, in the beginning, to stop and turn around, which made the rider a little nervous. However, the tour guide was able to give the rider a few tips, calm the rider, and the rest of the ride was a breeze. There was even a young rider around the age of 8. Our tour guide made the child follow right behind him, make them feel at ease, gave them confidence, and distracted the child with kind jokes, etc. We rode for 1 hour and that was plenty for us. We highly recommend this place and will be returning the next time we're back in TN.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Everyone was very kind and friendly they went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience. Our guide was Becca and horses were Sampson, Jemima, scooter and rose.

The Davy Crockett horse riding was a fun experience. My husband and I called before and reserved for a half hour experience but they helped us extend it to an hour on the day. We were matched with our horses, Lady for my husband and Jomama for me. Our horses mostly wanted to eat grass and kept stopping. This ensured that we learnt a lot of horse riding skills compared to others whose horses were well behaved and walked continuously haha 😂 We went through fields, trails, and some steep ups and downs. The only reason for giving 4 stars is that we were placed at the end and could barely hear the guide. They were very particular on tips for the guide but not very particular if everyone could hear the guide. Restrooms are available at the starting point. Parking is easily available and directions to get to the stables from Townsend were pretty clear. I would recommend a visit to the Tucckalachee caverns (it is just 5 minutes away) and it was very good!

SUCH a wonderful Horseback Riding Stable!! Excellent staff that were genuine and truly wanted us to enjoy our ride and experience!! Thank you to our guide, Rhonda and to the rest of the staff and of course those Sweet and Beautiful Horses! We celebrated my Birthday and it was definitely worth it! Thank you guys so very much 😊!!

Our 40th wedding anniversary trip was made perfect with our ride. The staff was great, our guide was awesome and the horses were well behaved. I'd give it 50 stars. We will be back

Wow!!! Davy Crockett riding stables is truly amazing!!! They treated my family like their family! Kelly was fantastic he was very patient and kind to my 7 year old niece and made her day! The staff is awesome! The horses are well kept, loved and trained!!! Thank you guys so much! It was my first time on a horse! And you guys made me feel like a pro!! My family and I will be returning!!

We had an amazing time at Davy Crockett Riding Stable. My wife and I took a 2 hour ride on Sampson and Thunder. The horses were amazing and our guide Rebekah was wonderful. I would highly recommend taking a ride if you're visiting the area. The woods and mountain scenery is breathtaking!

My husband and I took our 6 year old for a 30 minute trail ride today and had the BEST time! She had done a few pony rides before in a small ring with someone leading her on foot but had never been on a trail ride on a real horse. She was a tiny bit nervous so Kelly our trail guide hooked so a lead line and put her right behind him to make her feel secure, but also encourage her that she could do this and let her feel independent. We had an amazing ride through beautiful woods and she loved every second of it. We will absolutely ride with them again next time we are in town and will recommend them to all our guests at our short term rental as well. What a great experience!

Edna and I were up there in June. Saw you were closed or at least gone for a few days. Tried 3 times. Missed seeing you and Marge. Edna missed getting her annual cedar pieces. Hoping yunz are O.k. and just took some well deserved time off. See you next time.

A great place to visit to get yourself or your friend or lover a great carved Bear,Owl,otter among other carvings. If you need a fireplace mantel, they have those also. They also have a Potter on site, Marge Murphy. She makes all of the bowls and mugs on site. A great place to visit when in Townsend, Tn. In the first photo is Captain Dave the owner.
