We had great weather to enjoy the scenery. There are quite a few steps, but the trail around the falls levels out the ascent along the way so it is very hikeable.

Love this place, very peaceful with plenty to take in. 3 waterfalls. Tip, middle, lower. Was there a couple weeks ago, return in a couple days for the weekend again. Need to scoop out some more of the camp grounds we hope to stay at in July 2024. Can't wait

This place is so freaking beautiful. So many waterfalls to enjoy. We only had a couple of hours to spend - So we did the trail that takes you to the Upper and Lower falls. It is very close to the visitor center, so you can actually go back if you don’t want to do the loop. We did the loop and it was fun to see the falls from all sides. Breathtaking views.

My spouse and I were pleasantly surprised to find so many folks visiting Gooseberry Falls on a cold October morning. Just goes to show the lure of this state park! Excellent trails and an overall fun experience to walk around the river and the surrounding paths and campground. Parking at the visitor center is also free. Great for my dog as well. Highly recommend!

Fairly short hike to an amazing place!! I can spend hours and enjoy the fall area. We went under the fall , we swam , we hiked all the way down , followed the path, and unlocked more nature's beauty. Bring towels, bug spray, and water shoes for sure.

Such a beautiful place. This was my first time here even though I have always lived in Minnesota there is so much to see.This is a state park to spend a lot of time exploring and hiking. And I would highly recommend finding a place to camp to get the full enjoyment of the park and wild life.

This is such a great park! The falls are beautiful any time of year. It's a really quick walk to the waterfalls from the parking lot, and most of the main walkways are paved. The visitor center is nice and the restrooms are clean and convenient. I always stop here any time I'm up visiting the North Shore.

This was the best state park I visited in Minnesota. We spent the whole week touring state parks along highway 61 from Duluth to Thunderbay and this was by far the best. The falls were gushing which made for a Kodak moment after every turn. Make sure you have proper footwear because the trail can get steep and muddy at some places. The whole falls loop was around a mile and pretty easy.

Wow! I love this place so much. The walk is short and they've got a great shop with really some of the nicest shirts and sweatshirts and t-shirts and trinkets I have ever seen. It was my birthday so my husband bought me a beautiful rust color North shore sweatshirt and a burgundy gooseberry Falls sweater that was stunning and I've gotten compliments on it since. We walked all around the falls got in 17,000 steps It is beautiful. You can walk as hard and long as you want but plan on taking a lot of pictures. There was a lot of people there so you have to take your time and be patient to get pictures without a lot of other people in the background. I highly recommend it I would love to come back here once every few years as it is beautiful and different in each time of the year. The last time we were here my son was in UMD and it was winter. Totally different experience this time. I will say the waterfalls are much more beautiful this time of year They get rusty color from the leaves in early winter.

I've been going to Gooseberry for decade's. And I really did love it before all the parking and designed paths. There were way less people. However, I appreciate what has been done to make it more family friendly. And more accessible. It is very clean and very well manicured. And a must visit for first timers. The path up and down to the lake is about 3.5 miles. Easy hiking.

Goosebury falls is worth the stop if you want to easily see some falls that are very easy to access. There's only a short walk on a paved path to be able to reach views of the upper and middle falls. We saw people of all ages throughout the park. There is a trail that goes all around the falls to have some views from above, but requires a bit of a hike.

We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was beautiful. The parking lot was fairly full but despite the number of people it was still a great experience. Everyone was getting a chance to get their pictures and play and climb on what they wanted. The trails were great. We started at the upper falls and them worked our way back down. It was extremely enjoyable for the whole family and we can even bring Grandpa and his cane back with us.

Fantastic State Park! So much to do here, for all levels of ability. The falls are in easy walking distance on east paved paths near visitor center. But their are other falls deeper in the park for those that have more time and want to explore further. Beautiful trails follow the water, fairly easy to navigate. But further in you want good hiking shoes and note it is uneven ground with lots of tree roots and stones. But still easy and worth it. This park also links up to the Superior Trail as well. Dogs are welcomed and there were a decent amount when we were there, all leashed of course. Visitor center with bathrooms and plenty of parking. It can get a little crowded by the falls, but becomes nice and quiet as you venture out on trail.

I love this state park! It has some beautiful trails and gorgeous falls. It’s a great place for kids, as it’s an easy walk to the falls, and they love climbing up the stairs and seeing the water coursing through the creeks and down the slopes. It has a wonderful gift shop as well, with some unique items and fun books. And of course it’s a beautiful drive to get here.

Beautiful state park. The falls are gorgeous. The walking paths are fun and easily accessible. You can walk on either side of the falls. The views are breathtaking. A definite must-see while in northern Minnesota

Gooseberry Falls State Park is definitely place to explore. Quiet large area of hiking, walking, bicycling, dog walking. Lots of trees, plants and flowers. Beautiful waterfalls on different levels. We have been several times in this park. This place is awesome.

This is a great place! Easy to get to lots of little hikes that you can do. You can pretty much go wherever you want on these gorgeous falls. I love that there is no restrictions. You can wherever or climb wherever in this gorgeous area. There are about 45 really good waterfalls right around this area within a short hike.

First time visiting in winter. The paths and especially the stairs are tricky to navigate with snow on them. Highly recommend wearing traction-increasing footwear

Probably one of my new favorite places we’ve been! Admissions were very reasonable. Tour guides were well informed and had so many interesting things to talk about. Loved going to the house and touring there. The lighthouse was very neat as well. The whole history around this place was very interesting. Go here if you’re in the area and take the walk down to Pebble Beach to see the lighthouse from below. Definitely worth the view!

Beautiful park, well worth the visit. You can walk up inside the lighthouse, see other historic buildings and exhibits as well as enjoying a spectacular view of Lake Superior. While there, enjoy the museum, nature walks and learn a lot of the history of the area.

Amazing drive on the way to split Rock, so beautiful. The museum part was very cool and informative. The staff was super knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The real magic happens when you walk out by the lighthouse! I can't even describe in words how beautiful the view is! Definitely going back. A must stop on the way is Betty's pies and of course Gooseberry falls. Have an amazing time 😁❤️

We went in January right when Duluth put a mandatory mask mandate in place. The lighthouse was closed but the views were amazing which is why we are giving it four stars. The learning center was informational.

Beautiful lighthouse to see, the lighthouse and state park (surrounding property) are two separate admissions. It cost $12 for adults to see and go inside the lighthouse and then the state park has a $7 day pass if you want to go to Pebble Beach or enjoy the lighthouse viewpoint from down the trail. It is cool to climb to the top of the lighthouse and to go through the lighthouse keepers home.

If you are a lighthouse fan, a beach fan, a Lake Superior fan, enjoy a nice hike, you must visit Split Rock Lighthouse. We learned about the history of the lighthouse and it's keepers through the short video before our exploration of the property, and while in the keepers' home, the fog horn house, and around the property. There was a decent line to go up into the lighthouse itself, but we passed that up due to time constraints and instead took the leisurely hike down to Lake Superior to get some stunning photos of the light from that vantage point. Well worth a visit.

What a fun little stop along the pretty Minnesota coast!! Seeing the light house was pretty fun, but more so from a distance. The inside is very cool but it’s very cramped (understandably) so when there’s a lot of people it’s kind of hard to enjoy the inside, but there’s a walkway down to the water that has such a nice and fun view of the lighthouse, as well as a little porch with another great view! Me and my girlfriend are both very happy we made this stop and can’t wait to visit other historic lighthouses like this one.

Split Rock Lighthouse is such a fun and beautiful day adventure to take part in when you are up on the north shore of Lake Superior. It is not only beautiful, but it is a historic and educational sight seeing attraction. Taking the tour up into the Lighthouse is a great adventure. The views of the lake shore line from here are amazingly beautiful as well.

An early sunrise on the lighthouse edge. I hope you enjoy my photo. I wanted to capture the sun as it was level with the lighthouse top, and I had to be up in early in the darkest of morning to snap this photo. This place has spectacular 360 degree views, and there is a nice beach spot below it. Makes a great destination spot for photography and to enjoy oneself.

This place is very well maintained! Employees are super nice. It has an interesting story and it is well documented. They CHARGE for parking ($7) and to enter the lighthouse ($12) separately! View is pretty from up there. Overall it’s worth it. They also let you in one of the families’ homes who use to take care of the lighthouse and they still have their old appliances!

This is such a beautiful lighthouse. You can see it off the highway as you approach from the south. There is so much history here. They have a theater area where you can learn even more. There is a small museum area. The gift shop is nice. The staff is amazing. Bathrooms were very clean. We walked the grounds and went into the lighthouse. You can also go into the light keeper's house. There was a wonderful lady who could give you a lot of history about the house. You need to be able to climb stairs to get up to the lighthouse. We did not see any ramps. If you can't climb stairs, you can go to the inside museum and around the grounds below the lighthouse. It is definitely worth the stop. The cost was reasonable.

First time touring the Lighthouse and we are really glad we did. As a family of 5 it was affordable and an experience our kids enjoyed as well. If we did it again we would watch the video before going up to the lighthouse. Not as much walking or steps as we expected there to be. The tour guides were very helpful in answering any questions we had. We enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to everyone thinking of checking it out.

Split Rock Lighthouse is a must-visit for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. There is $12 entrance fee to offer self guided tours of the grounds and lighthouse, but don't let that turn you away. Prior to seeing the lighthouse, they offer a short video explaining the history. There are well-informed staff at each part of the attraction to answer questions and offer information about the lighthouse as well. The lighthouse itself is a short walk from the main building, and they allow visitors to walk up to the top and tour the original lighthouse Keeper's home with the pass. The views of Lake Superior are incredible!

What an experience!!! Park is beautifully maintained. There was an entrance fee, but we'll worth it. Park is relatively large. You'll walk through the main building which has a gift shop right behind. There are restrooms inside. Once you pay you can check out the little museum or go straight to the lighthouse. There's a older house beforehand worth a walk through. Climb a few stairs and you'll be inside the lighthouse which requires another 33 flight of stairs to the top. Wonderful experience, if you love lighthouses, make sure you stop

Beautifully kept light house with amazing history and very talented guides to help you to understand the facilities. The story about the light house is very well preserved with great photos and pieces. The views are amazing and the so well kept that you get a great feel for what it might of been like to stay there. This is a definite must see on the North Shore!

This place is great, especially if you love learning about history. There is an entry fee, but it is affordable and absolutely worth it in my opinion. I also appreciated that they were open until 6PM on a weekday! I would say you can cover everything in about 1 hour, maybe a little longer if you want to spend more time or if you have kids. The lighthouse and the keeper's house are beautifully restored with lots of informative and interesting reads. Also plenty of staff around that are very nice, helpful and well-informed. The interior museum was great as well. There's a short movie that runs every 10-20 minutes. The gift shop is about what you'd expect, but I also appreciated they had a collection of artwork from local artists available for purchase. And I almost forgot to mention the stunning views of Lake Superior! I'd definitely recommend making a stop here if you're nearby and have an hour to kill. It's right off the highway and very convenient.

Lots of history about the property, original lighthouse keeper, and the lighthouse itself. There are several trails you can hike and get some great distant views of the lighthouse. Walk a little further (.3 miles) and the trails takes you to a beach where you can also view the lighthouse.

A worthwhile trip up the North Shore, the site not only has really well maintained grounds but also the actual historic structure itself is really well cared for. They have done a really good job in not only the historic preservation front but also in interpretation of the site itself, moreso the lives of the people that worked there. An extremely professional and relatively "modern" museum in how it presents itself. A $12 admission price is a steal to go see a place like this.

A staple of the North Shore, Split Rock is a must see for all those who have never experienced it. The history of the site coupled with the spectacular views and well maintained trails (paved and non-paved) allow for all ages and physical capabilities to experience the park.

Really great views and great history throughout. There's a lot of information and visuals to make it fun for all ages. There are guided tours that go on as well if you want a more in depth style of visit, but there's a theater that shows a good overview if that's more your speed.

100% worth the stop. Small fee to gain access to all the historical grounds. Take the time to watch the short 13 minute video before heading outside. Super informative! You're able to climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse to see the light. The views are astounding everywhere you turn. Definitely take advantage and walk down every path you can. I also recommend the hilly walk down to the shore for amazing pictures. Be adventurous and take the tram stairs back up, it's a work out but there are several resting platforms on the way up!

Very beautifully bucolic setting with plenty of informed staff. The grounds are kept immaculate and well marked. There is a small museum on-site as well. There are some steps and hill climbing, and you'll have a majestic view of Lake Superior.

Lighthouse was decent. Keepers house novel. Wait!... Frontenac pilot house movie was outstanding (shiploading dock history)! Ladies in gift shop were very helpful. Lead us to Madeira for lunch.

This is a beautiful property to visit to enjoy the lake, step inside an old pilot house, and climb an active lighthouse. The Two Harbors Keepers Quarters is also available to stay in as a B&B and we had a wonderful time. We enjoyed time away from technology (by our own choosing) playing games while cargo ships sailed by outside our windows. The rooms have beautiful views and the experience feels like a step back in time - while still enjoying the comforts of local dining and the cozy robes and slippers the B&B provides. We stayed in winter for Christmas and will definitely be coming back to stay longer when it's warmer outside.

Nice little gift shop. Lady that got us checked in was very nice. Self guided tour of the property allows you to take your time and look at as much as you want for as long as you want. We were there on a Monday, mid day and it took us about 30-45 minutes to get through what we wanted. Could have watched the video on the wheel house and it could have taken longer. It also wasnt busy when we were there. Very well worth the $5 per person for the tour.

Unfortunately, the day we were in town, they were closed. We could look through the fence, but that was it. The lighthouse is beautiful. Hopefully, we will get to see it the next time we travel through here.

Really beautiful and worth the cost to visit inside! You rarely ever see any lighthouses mentioned besides split rock, and this one is just as beautiful! There is a walkway out to a newer smaller lighthouse which allows you to see agate harbor. Very pretty!

I wasn't there for the museum I was staying there for the air bnb but this place is pretty cool and so nice!

We've been meaning to come here for years and finally made it! Of course, it is all we expected it to be & more! Amazing service, exceptional brews, views of the lake! We enjoyed our drinks out on the patio - 100% recommend!

Large brewery, with a huge selection of high quality beers (I like the cream ale), lots of space inside and out for large groups, and some nooks where your family can play board games. I was here in the off season, but you can tell they are set up to service lots of tourists in the summer. There are also some interesting other cool establishments within walking distance. Check this place out if you’re touring the north shore!

Amazing place to visit while in Two Harbors, MN. Very clean, comfortable and outstanding staff. Great place to hang out with friends and play games on a dreary Minnesota Spring Day. Cannot wait to enjoy sitting on the patio this summer.

What’s not to love? Castle Danger is a great brewery in the heart of Two Harbors. We stopped in after a long trip in the BWCA. It was a beautiful day and there is no better spot to spend it. They brewery has all their current beers on tap and also has games to spend the day playing. Really fun and worth a stop!

Good beers. Nice spacious tasting room and outdoor area (weather permitting). Will sometimes have food trucks 🚚 .

After drinking the beer for years it was nice to finally come up to the brewery. The patio has lots of seating options and allows dogs. There was a food truck the day we visited as well. The rewards program is really easy to join too. Your card links you to a toast rewards program, the app makes it easy to manage your rewards.

HUGE patio and picnic seating. Love that they have chips and salsa for sale, as well as food trucks stopping by. We enjoyed getting the flights and trying all kinds of their beers. Their patio became the perfect end to each of our days in Two Harbor after we hiked and before we went to dinner.

Having grown up in MInnesota and explored many breweries across the state, Castle Danger sits atop my list as number 1. With the great selection of beers and a little north shore magic added in, there’s no better place to enjoy craft beer. Staff is super friendly and the location provides plenty of space during any season.

Awesome patio that is pet friendly. Bathroom is clean and has a cool vide. Plenty of nearby parking. Take a short walk to the lake if you want after your beer!!

I finally got a change to visit this tap room and it did not disappoint! My flight was great and the outdoor area was huge and spacious with lots of outdoor activities and a food truck! Lots of merchandise to buy. A great summer evening activity in the True North!

I've had this beer so many times in Minneapolis and I'm so pumped to actually be here. It's a great vibe with tons of puppers! The best little surprise was finding vegan ice cream options! Such a great place to hang out. Beer is reasonably priced and there is a mountain of outdoor seating. Love this place.

What a great treat this brewery was. They even had a barbecue place there We decided to get a brisket sandwich which was incredible! And talk about going good with beer! Absolutely love this place and we'll go back again and again and again and again. Every time I come to Duluth I will come here They had excellent beers and beautiful ambiance lots of outdoor patio seating indoor seating and a great store with great prices. Support them by buying a t-shirt, a sweatshirt and two of their custom printed beer glasses. Love this place!!!!!

Have been wanting to get to castle danger for a long time and it did not disappoint! Walking in it smells like they actually brew beer on site. Huge selection of beers. Have to have the cream ale on tap. The outdoor patio is great! It has a lot of seating and food truck on site

Best Brewery on the North Shore , Best beers and some neat snacks and some of the best decks to enjoy the Lake and Trains going by. Definitely do not miss it if you're in Two Harbors or heading up the shore .... don't forget to walk around the breakwater and the lighthouse afterward .. and if there's snow on the ground .. even better !!! .. 😉

Spent the weekend at shipwreck campground at split rock lighthouse. The campground is excellent. We appreciate the sites being spaced apart giving people some space to stretch out. Sites were more than big enough for our small camper and 2 cars. Shower house had plenty of hot water. Vault toilets were well kept and clean.

Absolutely gorgeous site. This is both a State Park and Historical site. You can gain entrance to them both at one location. The lighthouse site has a minimal entrance fee and worth it. The views are spectacular from up top and also from below. You can access shoreline from “old tram” trail which are stairs or walk a gentle slope trail down, which is the part of the State Park. You can access additional trails along the shore from there as well. This is a gorgeous site in any season, but obviously Fall is one of its more colorful times.

We only got the introductory tour but my sister and I loved it. There was a lot to learn about how the lighthouse was built, when it was built, and who maintained it. There was a movie as well and it was a gem. Overal, the view from the frozen lake was gorgeous and I memorialized every minute of it. I highly recommend a visit to this tourist destination, whenever time allows it.

Such a beautiful site, both the lighthouse and the surroundings. I've visited in all seasons. There is an admission fee most of the year, but it's free for a small window in the winter. The lighthouse is spectacular and I love viewing it from the shoreline below.

Beautiful no matter what angle you are looking from. We had our dog with, so couldn't go on the historical grounds, but we enjoyed scampering over the rocks by the lakeside to get as close as possible for some good pics. Beautiful picnic areas, too!

This is a pretty park with nice spots to sit next to the lake. The scenery is good. The camp spots were very nice and the facilities some of the best I’ve been i. For a state park. The showers were really nice and the camping spots surrounded by beautiful flowers.

Officially known as the new Shipwreck Creek Campground at Split Rock State Park. , this Campground is about 5 minutes from the lighthouse and is seamlessly integrated into nature. This is one of the first campgrounds I've been to that didn't feel like the land was manipulated and overly stripped in some way, and a campground was set up. Here, it feels like they worked with the land to leave nature intact and it shows with ample green space and forest between each campsite. Shower facility and restrooms at the entrance are some of the nicest I've ever been to. Super clean but careful, no adjustable temperature, it's one button operation and the water was almost a little too hot for me but that's a nice problem to have. Even the many single door outhouses sporadically placed throughout the park are about as clean as can be and well maintained. Newly paved roads throughout the park with an abundance of paved bike trails from the campground leading to 15 additional miles of paved trails along the North Shore. If there is one negative it would be the lack of cell service or the ability to pick up any local TV stations on the antenna. That's not such a bad thing, though, if you really want to get away. I have Verizon and was able to use my phone a little bit but not for streaming too well. My wife has AT&T, and there was no signal. That's about the only negative we can think of. I would definitely go back.

This was a beautiful state park to visit. Even though we visited too late in the season to go to see the inside of the lighthouse, we were able to still hike down a little to see the view of the state park that is often in photographs or paintings. Quite stunning a vantage point! I think it is definitely worth visiting this state park in order to see Split Rock Lighthouse. Worth the drive from the cities! We went on a very windy day which resulted in huge waves.

Love this State Park. The light house is awesome and the history and upkeep of the place is great. Personally I think that it is the most picturesque lighthouse out there. Visitor center staff are friendly and helpful. There is much more I could say about it but just know it’s worth your time to visit!

The historical part of the park, the lighthouse & grounds, has always been a favorite. The tours are wonderful & very educational. There's also a new exhibit that wonderfully put together. I only wish we had spent more time there. There are also hiking trails for everyone. We were able to take our kids on a few & there were no issues. The new campground is amazing. There's plenty of space at each site. While they're all set up for electric, some are set up to also accommodate tent camping. Water & vault toilets are easily accessible. There's even an ADA site so everyone can enjoy what the area has to offer. Definitely going to be planning a trip back.

This place has always ignited my imagination. When we are in the area, we always stop. There are upcharge tours of the Keeper's Quarters, and even inside the tower tours. Many steps up to the light house. Large grassy area at the bottom of the steps where those who want to rest a bit can also sit. Easy parking, but then one walks a bit to the Visitors Center, which is where the restrooms are located. The National Parks Pass works for the basic entrance to the park.

Best backpacking trail in the central US!

The pink beach was cool but we did not hear it song as they say. It is also all big rocks, no sand at all. The water was so clear. I was able to walk to it with my walker all the way through the trail until we got to the actually beach. The rocks are not handicap friendly.

Great beach. Make sure you wear water shoes. The rocks can hurt your bare feet. Great place to relax and have a picnic. Don't forget to make sculptures out if the pink stones.

The sight of infinite waters of Lake superior, the rustling of pebbles amidst the waves and beautiful red pebbles create a unique experience. I'll definitely recommend a stop here along the north shore drive.

This was a very inspiring place to visit. It is an easy exit to miss as it comes up fast. It is definitely worth the little hike to get back to the beach! It had just rained the day before we arrived and the trail was muddy but we persevered. Wear proper footwear and enjoy the views!

Beautiful beach that is much less busy than others in the area. The pink rocks are interesting and the rocky outcropping is beautiful! The water here often looks turquoise like the ocean! It’s a favorite stop for our family!

It's really cool. A great place to enjoy nature, beach, stones/rocks, waves,....

This was such a beautiful and peaceful beach. You need to walk a short way on paved and unpaved trails to get to the beach. It was so quiet when we went in the morning as we were the only people there. The beach is full of medium sized rocks so wear hiking shoes.

Rocks as far as the eye can see. We got some great photos. But not great for rock hunting. You can't keep them if you can even find good ones.

Also known as "Pink Beach," this place was pretty cool. If you are sun seeking, go here. There is not much for shade. The big rocks on the beach are not easy to walk on but the vast display of large smooth pink stones is worth checking out. The waters are crystal clear. So pristine. We found a Crack in the rock face that had a water pool inside and an access to the other side of the cliff to the lake. It was fun to explore. Waters get deep pretty quick, so bring a life jacket for the Littles.

Iona Beach offers lovely trails and a beautiful rocky shoreline. Though thick swarms of gnats were present during my visit, the natural beauty of the area made up for it. Visitors should note that it's a research area, and taking rocks is prohibited. A great spot for nature lovers, but be mindful of the rules.

Beautiful "Pink Beach" as the locals refer to Iona's. Nice parking area with section of the paved Gitchi Gami State Trail connected, walk down this to the dirt path, remember to use the shoe scrubber or wash your shoe soles with your water bottle before heading down to the beach. As you get closer the trail will change to rocks. Take as many photos and videos as you want but leave the rocks alone. Listen to the sounds they make as you walk and as they are washed by the waves. The edge of the beach has Raspberry bushes and many other native berries and wild Hazel nuts, you are in a wilderness area and might see birds, squirrels, bears etc feeding if you are at a low visitor volume time of the day. Deer also come down to drink at the Lake. The color of the rocks and beach scene changes depending on the weather and lighting. I enjoyed watching the bumblebees foraging in the wildflowers on the little bluff and some of the lake birds during my shirt visit this week. Make sure to have good walking shoes as it's a very uneven surface, slippery if wet and as temps drop becomes ice covered pretty easily. There is an old iron bridge further up the paved trail that gives a good view of the beach. The trails would allow a wheel chair to get down to the beach in good weather but the rocks on the beach may be too much unless you have the bigger inflatable style action wheels. Just near the parking area is a marine dock for water access and sightseeing from our on the Lake looking back at the beach. The parking lot has memorial benches by the trail. It can be a nice picnic spot and place to burn off some energy with kids.

This beach is extremely rocky, steep, and a bit hard to walk on but also very pretty. Very few ppl were there the day we were there so it was a nice "pause" on our North Shore trip. The story behind the beach is lovely so stop in and pay tribute to Iona and the beach she loved enough to protect!

Incredible beach! They say the rocks here are musical when the waves wash over them. I don't know about that, but there is a rice krispies sound which is nice. Relaxing. You wouldn't think that a bunch of rock could be comfortable but they aren't bad!

Absolutely loved this museum. Smaller but I think that is why I like it so much. Great displays, awesome history and you can't beat the price of $5 to get in. We were the only ones there during our visit. (Thursday morning). Highly recommend.

I met a very nice lady named Melissa and her dog Odin. As a somewhat disabled guy, Melissa was very friendly and patient whilst showing me the history of the trains and how the miners had Whiskey Flats or some such.🤷 Anyways, I had a fantastic time and would like to thank Melissa and her fellow regents. 👍👍❤️😎☘️☘️

Mixed feelings about this place. Outside is quite nice with the trains and informative. Inside I wanted to go to the museum, so I requested for a ticket which is $5. Well apparently using your debit card there is a $10 minimum, so I ended up leaving.

A train depot, in a town born out of the forces of history is a great setting for a museum. The $5 charge is more than worth it if one has even the slightest curiosity or interests in the history of this key Minnesota historical spot on Lake Superior's North Shore.

Went for a Day out with Thomas. It was a good day. Wish we had time to go through the museum. Neat place. We will go back.

Tiny museum that highlights the origin and growth of 3M. Some promotional parts but it was interesting. A bit pricy though. If you really want to dig into it’s history there are document drawers with some interesting tidbits. If you’re in the area it’s worth a stop.

Definitely worth a stop! The museum is all things 3M and the woman who is typically there is full of 3M knowledge and is extremely friendly.

It’s small and quirky so if you expect something lavish you’ll be disappointed. But as a point of pride in a small town, it’s a delightful little gem. Our host shared the stories of the 3M beginnings with an excitement and awe as if it were her first time telling the tale. But she wove in snippets shared by visitors that made it clear she loved her job. A fun and quick stop if you’re looking for some real Minnesota history.

Interesting but it's only a few rooms and most of the information is in binders and notebooks. Not too much as far as displays.

Not a whole lot going on here. Possibly satisfying for the hard core history buff, most folks are going to find this wanting withing ten to fifteen minutes. To be fair, the overarching sorry is cool, it just isn't enough to cover a full museum stop. Some of the displays are quite nice, some are old and could use a refresh. Note: no public restroom available.

Everyone mentions the $5 price. We were not charged. Because I am a 3M retiree? Not sure. Rainy day on the North Shore and took Hubby in there to show him some products I worked on. The lady that worked there was thrilled for someone to talk to and she was VERY knowledgeable. Cut spot and great company.

Great history of an awesome company. We bought the pass for all three museums in town, for $10/person we thought it was a bargain. Tour guide was quite friendly and helpful with questions.

Great selection of building materials, antiques, etc. Pricey on some it's, but really it's hard to put a value on most of the inventory.

Don't go. People who work here are just RUDE. We have tried to shop here 5 times past year. Walked out after being treated rudely! Again! Never used to be that way. The owner is a very nice person. But staying out of there now. Drive to shop there Intentionally from about 80 miles away. NEVER AGAIN!

Not a knick knack type of antique shop. Just what the name says: architectural antiques. Huge old light fixtures - clawfoot tubs - doors and trim of every variety. It's neatly arranged and not difficult to find what you're looking for.

super cool architectural antique store. my home is older and its always nice to stop in a place like this to see what is being saved and salvaged from older homes. everything from outlet covers to full blown built-in units. if you have a need for an older home, this place is worth a stop... tons of doors, tin tiles, and some really neat finds!

It's name is self explanatory but there are other treasures to be had if antiquing is on your agenda. The staff know there stuff, the prices are reasonable and the item quality is superb. It's worth a walk through if you're in the area even if you aren't hunting vintage items. Do yourself a favor and swing through.

This place was really interesting to stop in and see. I am an architecture student so it was neat to see some history up close and personal. I actually went to grab some doorknobs for my place and the guy working was teaching me about what was wrong with the ones at my place! Very friendly, very helpful, and stopped me from accidentally buying doorknobs that wouldn't work for my door. Haha.

Great shop! Knowledgeable staff, well organized and clean. We found period glass shades for our 1898 light fixture reasonably priced, can’t wait to stop back on our next trip.

No sense of how to be polite to someone walking in the door wearing a mask, per their own restrictions. Edit for response: Wow, now you're making up a story that didn't happen. Not once did I pull down my mask, and if you're not aware the cdc changed their guidelines, which are just that, guidelines, not laws, so that restriction is on you not them. I walked in and without a hello, how are you, thanks for coming in, excuse me, could you please, or anything pleasant at all, you said, "hey! pull your mask up fully over your nose or just go ahead and leave." I wasn't even in the store more than thirty seconds.

As of 2022 I became a trial co-op member here and have several of my paintings on display. They have an Instagram and Facebook account. I'll share more recent photos. There are currently 57 members of the arts & crafts co-op with ages between 16 & 94. Wide variety of handmade local artists and crafters work available. 4 Years Ago - I've driven past Northwoods Pioneer Gallery about a billion times without ever stopping. Today at the recommendation of my friends Jessie and Mable I made time to check it out. I am so glad I did! Cleverly hidden in broad daylight on highway 61, just about on the door step of Grand Superior Lodge is the most amazing collection of handmade items you could hope to find. If you are looking for a unique, hand crafted, quality treat for yourself, friends or family this is the place for you. Everything in the coop is locally made by Minnesota artisans. I lucked out and found Mabel inside knitting by the fire! Cynthia was also working on projects behind the desk but was feeling a little camera shy. There are so many items on display that I have shared as many pictures with you as possible to demonstrate the variety and high quality of our local artists work being displayed and sold here at the coop which has been in operation since 1972 - See picture for more details.

We happened to stop at this delightful gift shop! Be sure and pull in and go into the store when driving past on Highway 61. The handmade gifts are abounding and all interesting and impressive to view. From unique kitchen towels, cloths, scrubbies, pot holders, to beautiful metal trees on wooden stands. This is a gift shop not to miss. Love all the creative artwork and talent that are inside those walls.

OH MY GOODNESS! This shop is so amazing! It's a little co-op of artists that sell their masterpieces. There are paintings, quilt work, jewelry, wonderfully knitted hats, mittens, and scarves, Christmas corner. It's such a cute place!! Just passed The Rustic Inn on the same side.

Very cute! It’s a coop gallery of local artists. Items for sale range from pottery, to quilting, to paintings/drawings! We bought a jalapeño raspberry jam and admired the artwork! Will definitely be back the next time we are in town.

This was the cutest gift shop in Two Harbors area! We went twice and my husband regrettably passed up a painting of the Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth. When I called a couple weeks later to see if they still had it, Mabel took such great care of me! She texted a picture of the painting to make sure it was the right one, told me about the history of the husband and wife that painted it, and took it home to personally wrap it so it wouldn't bend during transit since it was going to be shipped. She even went in the next day on her day off to take care of payment and drop it off at the USPS. She was so sweet and kind hearted, we will definitely be back when we are up in that area again! Thank you Mabel and Northwoods, for sharing such great artwork and history of MN, and really taking care of your customers!

Great place to rent a bike. In my case, I needed a fat bike. Process was smooth as butter and economically priced. What's not to like!

My wife and I went back up to the North Shore for our 2 year anniversary. We were staying just south of Two Harbors so we stopped in to rent some electric bikes to tool around for the afternoon. I forget his name, but dude inside the shop was super swamped working on all kinds of stuff, but still got us taken care of very quick considering. Online check-in was a breeze, coffee was delish, and the bikes were insane. The Gazelle power assist is more than you will need for one heckuva bike ride. Keep it in Turbo mode or Sport mode. Will be back again, and next time we will try to get the battery below full charge on the bike - those things hold a charge!

Very affordable bike rentals, and the bikes themselves are in great shape! Proprietor Dan was terrific to work with, and he shared knowledge of nearby trails.

Great selection of bikes and great atmosphere in shop and cafe. I was seeking a hard tail bike this spring. Duluth shops left me disappointed so I turned to the web. Was pleasantly surprised that SpokeNGear had exactly what I wanted website even had what was in stock. Called up and they held it for 4 days till I could make it up to get it.

Great shop. Great staff. Got all the accessory brands I like—Ergon, Lezyne, PDW, Surly. Love Portland Design Works. Not a huge selection of helmets. Killer bikes on the floor. They’ll order whatever you need. Came up from Duluth!

Superb bike shop with outstanding, personal, expert service. The staff here really know their stuff, take pride in their work, and listen carefully to customers. They sell an unusual mix of bikes (primarily mountain, gravel, touring, and adventure) which are versatile, comfortable, and well thought out. I worked mainly with Erik and Brian; originally I was looking at a stock bike, but they ended up building me a complete Salsa Vaya up from the frame. The bike fits me well, has lower gearing that's appropriate for me (I'm an ordinary guy, not a racer), and is a great all-rounder (works well on pavement, gravel, and even some single track). I am completely delighted with the result! Probably the best buying experience I've ever had in my 50+ years working with bike shops (and that is high praise, because there are other fine bike shops in the area -- and elsewhere -- that have provided me and my family with truly excellent service over the years).

Just far enough off the main drag to not be flooded with tourists. The coffee is amazing, the breakfast burrito was big, fresh, super tasty, and inexpensive. The owner and staff were genuinely happy, personable, and very friendly. The outdoor patio is absolutely gorgeous. If you're into good atmosphere and supporting local business then don't get coffee or breakfast anywhere else when in Two Harbors.

Christina is a talented masseuse and she makes sure to give customers a great experience. I received a 90 minute massage, and I have no complaints.

Christina is seriously amazing! I've gone to her for massages and for Reiki sessions. She has an adaptable schedule to fit you in when you need a massage the most. She truly knows what she is doing!! She greets you by name and helps make the most of the experience. I've been to chain massage places, and different spas around the world and nothing compares to Christina's work. I highly recommend The Purple Lotus!!

Christina is a great massage therapist! It's so relaxing, and she's very good at getting out stubborn knots! I highly recommend her for relaxation, or deep tissue massage! She also does chair massages, if you're not looking for a full massage. She has additional tools to make you comfortable, and work on your specific needs.

Christine is fabulous! She is an artist of massage. She seems to know, on some level, exactly where an individual's highest level of toxin overload or muscle spasms are. Christine has kept me out of the doctor's office. Her skills are those of a master. Don't second guess going to Christine at the Purple Lotus in Two Harbors. Just go because she is the best. Dr. Deb
