Amazing scenic view at Elephant Falls. Beautiful and sound flowing water from falls. Waterfall is divided into 3 steps - first step is doable for all but 2nd and 3rd step falls is quiet deep and not easy for elder people to see 3rd step falls. Crowded and need to watch steps carefully. There are Souvenir shops, Clean toilets near parking lot and well managed parking lot. It is worth to pay Rs 100 per person to see this water falls. Steps are nicely made with comfortable steps.

I had the amazing opportunity of visiting the elephant falls of Shillong in the rainy season. The waterfalls were mesmerising. The water flow was great and with the lush greenery that was around the place and the white water made the place look even better. The water was very clean and you get to see three parts of the water fall when you visit this place. My pro tip would be visiting it during the rainy season because that’s the time when the water falls is in full bloom.

You can visit any of the three waterfalls, but the main one is the third. As you have to go down to visit the second and third waterfalls, it becomes harder to return to the entry gate since you have to climb 55-65 meters back up. By purchasing a ticket, you can also visit a nearby park. But its worth visiting as its really beautiful.

There are 3 falls altogether at 3 different levels. It is a very clean place where you will find bamboo dustbins to throw your waste. There are a lot of steps for reaching the bottom level. The waterfall was a little bit dry. Overall it's a nice place to connect with nature and take pictures

Good place to hangout in city, for this waterfall you no need to go so far from the city. Entry fees is Rs. 100 per person including parking. it’s a small 3 steps waterfall. Enter in waterfalls water/pound in not allowed here. Parking, washroom, restaurant and souvenir shops are good. Local/ cultural dresses for photographers is available here with extra charges.

The shopkeepers will rent you colourful umbrellas just for Rs. 20. There are some shops that sell some local handicrafts. Bargaining is common. Clean washrooms are available. Some restaurants cater tea and Maggie. No vegetarian restaurant can be found. There is a place where one can get tribal costumes on rent. They will even dress you up with all accessories. However, they do not have cameras. You have to click with your own camera or mobile phones.

Nice and beautiful place enclosing three waterfalls. When we visited there were no crowd at all. There is entry fee of 100Rs however place is maintained very well. Toilets and washrooms are very clean hygiene. Even falls is maintained well by the authorities by keeping plastics away. Strictly people will not allow you to swim/ play around the falls, which is kind of good initiative towards keeping the falls clean and safe.

Must visit place in shillong. There's ample amount of parking space. Entry fee is there per person it's 100rs right now. As soon as we enter the place, can notice the drop in the temperature. Very well maintained place. There are 3 falls here. It's better to visit this place on the first day of the trip, since you will get the feel of the falls. Elephant waterfall got its name from British after they found elephant shaped rock here. It is in three levels. Tourists can go down all three levels with well constructed stairs. But Those having trouble with stairs should avoid going down. Washrooms are available. Total one hour is sufficient for this site.

It's a good place for sightseeing around Shillong. There are three falls to witness. You need to go downwards along stairs to reach the waterfalls. The third is the most beautiful among the three. It's quite cold downwards compared to outside. It's a worthwhile visit during your Meghalaya trip.

Elephant falls is a three step waterfall. Probably during monsoon the waterfall is more impressive. The first step still had a lot of flow when we visited in March but the flow was smaller on the second and fourth steps. It was named after a stone nearby which looked like an elephant head, but the stone was destroyed during an earthquake.

Umium lake is a beautiful lake near Shillong. You can easily spend around half an hour here. They have boating facility available there. We reached there super early so couldn’t find the boating. It’s a nice little place to click pictures. They also arrange destination weddings and other events for hire.

We visited during August month and it was raining. We enjoyed the scenic beauty of Lake ,it surrounded by mountains. We tried electric boat it was good , they charge around 500 rs for 5 minutes.

One of the must view places in Shillong. We should definitely Visit the lake. It comes on the way from Guwahati to Shillong, hence this must be 1st places u visit. Short boat rides are available which will cost 300 to 500 per person , but these boat rides are only for 5- 15 mins max. This place gives a picturestic image of the lake and u can take clear profile pictures here. Some shops provide local costumes here, u can rent them to click pictures of the same.

It is the best place if you want to know about the North Eastern cultures and how it has grown with years and expanded. You will require around 1-1.5 hours to cover the 7 floors museum. It has a pocket-friendly cafeteria and also a souvenir shop. Must visit for a brief history. Highly recommended for museum lovers. ✨

If you are interested in the history and culture of the Northeast you certainly must visit the museum. You have to go floor by floor to see the different exhibitions. The layout is well mapped out. Nice well maintained museum. Very informative I must say. The ticket price is reasonable. You need to buy a pass for 100 Rupees if you want to use your camera phone. The best part sure was the Skywalk at the top which gives you a good view of the Shillong city. You need a good 2 hours to view the entire museum nicely.

If you are leaving Shillong without visiting this museum, then you can assume yourself that you have not visited Shillong itself for that matter north east culture. This is the best place in Shillong and thanks to the noble Don Bosco who painstakingly collected the artefacts, history, culture and traditions about the entire north east in the seven storied building exclusively built for that purpose. It is a hexagon shaped well and for every few steps there is a hall dealing with something about the culture of north east. If you are really interested in studying each and everything mentioned there then probably three hours are minimum required . Even if you glance through an hour and half is minimum. The place is restricted for photos in the sense there is a 100 rupee charges for taking photos worth its money value in what you get as a return to cherish by way of photos. Being in the town and famous for traffic jams many a times the tour operators skip this which is unacceptable. The beauty of the place is the sloppy pathway to the top like a cone ice cream to enjoy the 360 degree view of the entire Shillong. There is sufficient safety precautions including rubber mat to avoid the slippery during rain.

The best thing about this museum is its rooftop view. One can witness the 360 Degree panoramic view of Shillong City and East Khashi Hills. As a museum the gallaries are very informative and well maintained. But for me the best part was the sky walk at the top of the building and the open view cafe just below it. Btw per person ticket is 100, for students it's 50(student ID as proof) and 100 extra to use a camera.

Entry tickets can be purchased at the entrance. RS.100 per camera for photography is charged. There are seven floors displaying exhibits. Senior citizens may find it difficult to climb the stairs. You can go down 2 levels, take the lift to the 4th floor and start coming down after going on the skywalk on the terrace. This provides a beautiful view of the whole city of Shillong. There's a small cafeteria on the top level. There's a short and beautiful documentary film about the north-east.

A very good place located in Mawlai. Museum has underground 3 floors and sky walk in terrace and can get a clear viewpoint of whole of shillong. Staff are polite and friendly. Entry fee adults : 100 and students: 50 rs. Car parking is free. For photo shoot 100rs. There is also canteen on top with view point seats. Prices are very reasonable and affordable.

Don bosco Museum also known as Don bosco center for indigenous culture. This is one of the best Museum I have ever visited in terms of cleanliness, presentation and its maintained as brand new. They give you a glimpse into the lifestyle of north east, most of the things available here are the replicas or original artifacts. I visited this place on a weekday, its one of the tourist attraction, entry fee is 100 parking is free and for clicking photos you have to pay an extra 100 per person. It will require around 1.5 to 2 hrs to go through all the floor. Cafeteria is on the top floor and you can also go for Skywalk for shillong city view.

A beautiful place, it cold and peaceful air make my body and mind refresh after the long journey of vehicle. It gives a beautiful view of mountains and valleys. It scenario is so beautiful and a fresh airy place. This place is not so crowded when I visited this place. You’ll get better view from morning after sunrise to till evening sunset .

Beautiful place... Enjoy entire shillong city from the top... Has various shops for eat and shopping... Ticket cost 50/- per person and car cost 200/- for carry to and from the ticket counter. One more thing always carry one ID proof document with you...

Really I don't feel, what is such a great thing about this place. IT IS THE BEST LOOTING AREA OF SHILLONG ALLOWED BY THE GOVERNMENT. They are not allowing taxis there on this side of the Air Force area. Local people are charging Rs 200 for taxi per person & Rs50 for entrance. They are using very old 40-year vehicles like Maruti-800 cars which don't have any standards as they are very old. It's a total waste of money. No one cares about the safety of tourists who travel in such old vehicles. Who is permitting those drivers? I don't know. Better avoid this place.

A must visit place in Shillong. The telescope present here is so powerful that you can actually see the entirety of the city like it's just in front of your eyes. You have to leave your cab behind and only authorised cabs available here are allowed to go to the final view point. There are exceptions for people in the armed forces, serving and retd both. There's no entry fee here.

A nice place to spend some time. A complete view of city Shilong. Clean air which we all love. Small place but a good time pass. Taxi arrangements are good thogh little expensive. Make sure to carry ID proofs while you travel here as the way is through cant. Highest point of Meghalaya as far as I know.

You get a breathtaking view of the mountains and valleys of Shillong from this viewpoint. There are two towers where, on one of them, there is a huge bino which can be used to view the important peaks across. You have to pay a nominal price for the service. There are also a few little shops selling snacks, fruits and soft drinks, juices, etc. The serene environment prevents you from wanting to leave. The peak is covered with woods where you can find a number of twittering little birds. The place has a therapeutic effect and keeps growing on you by the minute...

Shillong peak one of famous spot. If you are serving personnel you have to less pay otherwise your taxi will not move ahead till stop outside and another taxi will pick you at peak. It is called the Shilong Peak view point. Outside vehicles are not allowed inside the premises. We have to take the tickets and wait for our turn. There are specific Alto cars which take us to the view point. You need to have an id proof to enter. It shows the view of the entire Shilong. There is also option to wear the local costumes and click pictures.

Nice view point from where you can get a clear idea about the shillong town. But the issue is,it's inside an army camp, so, going inside is a little bit complex. Nothing to worry about though, it's just that our army officials would perform a basic check.

An urban lake and garden area with well maintained landscape. There are provisions for boating, dress rentals for local Khasi dressing. However there is only one entry and exit point. So beware of where you are going if you are in a time crunch. The place is beautiful and ideal for a family outing, walking and boating.

We went to this lake during the cherry blossom season, and it was delightful! We decided to go boating, which was a wonderful experience. There are various food options both in and around the lake. It's a beautifully maintained park that we visited twice during our trip because we couldn't explore it all in one visit. Make sure to include it in your itinerary if you're planning a trip to Meghalaya!

Visited the lake at possibly the best time, in the Cherry blossom season. It felt like we are in Europe! Cherry blossoms and other flowers in full bloom, geese and ducks wading around, people boating, walking around soaking the beauty of the cherry blossoms. Ward’s Lake is amongst the popular tourist attractions of Shillong which is a must-visit. It is also known as Pollock’s Lake (Nan Polok) because of a popular engineer during the per-independence era. It is said to be around a 100 years old. It lies in the middle of the city of Shillong and the lake is surrounded by a lush garden with flower beds and cobble-stone footpaths and a mesmerizing fountain. There is a wooden bridge in the middle of the lake where one can even feed the fish in the lake. Boating is also one of the activities that can be done in the lake. There is a cafeteria too with a variety of refreshments and beverages. The entry fee is Rs 20/- per person. Overall a good experience the best time to visit during October to December.

Wards Lake is a delightful and well-maintained destination. The surrounding lane provides a pleasant walking path, enhancing the overall experience. The presence of only one cafe inside the lake, coupled with limited coffee varieties, leaves room for improvement. Increasing the coffee culture with a wider range of options would be a great addition. In summary, Wards Lake is a serene spot with potential enhancements in boating fare flexibility and coffee offerings to elevate the visitor experience.

Nice views, boating, ducks, landscapes and a good place to get your photos with cherry blossoms in the background! This place is filled with the young "Instagram" crowd, and you cannot go a few steps without announcing yourself and asking someone to pause their photo efforts. Not sure why this is on the list of tourist attractions, it's very much a local couples spot!

Very beautiful and big park surrounding the Wards lake. The cherry trees and beautiful flowers really makes it a pleasant place to sit and relax. There are boating and traditional outfit photo shoot facilities are available. A cafe is also present inside the park.

It may become Religious centre...if is develops in that way. Water from roof on the linga..is pouring drop by drop. Beautiful place though. Was really foggy even in august month. Do visit the place.

Naturally formed Shiv Linga in a far-off cave in Mawsynram. The place is quiet, peaceful and beautiful. There was no one else there when we visited. There is ticket for entering the caves. Water is dripping from the top just at the entrance of the cave. Loved the overall vibe here!

It's a natural made shivling place with natural water dripping on the shiv ling, also there is Nandi . It's all natural in the cave, there is also story of this place. Also u'll hear water stream moment, but even u'll try as much as possible, u won't able to find that stream. It's such a beautiful place.

The cave is famous for the naturally formed 'shivalinga', which is made of stalagmite. Recently, the cave has been receiving hordes of tourists and pilgrims from across the country as pilgrims are paying their obeisance to Lord Shiva as part of the Kanwar Yatra or Bol Bam Yatra celebration. The stalagmite in the Mawjymbuin Cave resembles the 'shivalinga' of the Amarnath cave.

The Mawjymbuin Cave, a must visit place not only for religeous purposes but also to view the serenity and tranquility of Mawsynram. Mawsynram the wettest place on Earth, also one of the few less crowdy tourist place in Meghalaya. Just keep sufficient food of your choice with you while visiting Mawsynram because you will get a lot of food stalls on the way but mostly you will find JaDoh and few indigenous food. Mawjynbuin caves is situated in Mawsynram, Meghalaya. It's a natural SHIVLING where u can see the dripping of water over it. Pouring milk is not allowed here.

It is very beautiful and nature has its beauty inside the cave. The most important point is it's very calm and quiet with less visitors when we reach there.

Set in the mid of natural surroundings, this cave located near Mawsynram is a popular tourist destination. This cave is well-known for the Shiv Ling type rock formation which is found inside the cave.

A huge with natural Shivlingam inside. There is an upside shivlingam too on the main one with water dropping from above. The cave towards the end look a little scarry though. One has to buy a ticket to visit it. It's near Mawsynram, the wettest place on the planet, so do visit here while a visit to Mawsynram.

Lesser known caves enroute to Split Rock trail. It has a naturally formed Shiv Ling and has water dripping on it. Could have been better if they had guides on hire to show one around.

You can witness a naturally formed linga with a dripping water at top. The cost is 60 for entry. The place is present at a very far distance. When we reached we were the only visitor in the whole mountain.

A natural cave, not very deep although. The place is recently beautified and stairs are made to easily descend. Worth visiting once.

Its an hour long trek in the forest. The forest is pretty dense. You are not allowed to break anything or bring anything from the forest coz it is scared to the locals. There a lot of medicinal trees in the forest which are more than 500 years old. You will also get to see a lot of mushrooms, sacrificial places where the locals have had been performing religious sacrificial rituals for ages. The local guide will explain everything to you in detail. It was a refreshing and pleasant experience for me.

This is a sacred forest which belongs to the tribals and they believe it to be their deity. You need to hire a guide for visiting this forest who will explain you about the significance of the forest. We got very heavy rains while inside the forest and couldn't complete the entire trek. Our guide was explaining things beautifully but even she got irritated by the rains and we decided to return after only half the trek. The surrounding area is also lush green in colour and makes amazing pictures for your album.

My visit to Mawphlang Sacred Forest was an unforgettable journey into tranquility and reverence. Arriving on a weekday ensured a serene atmosphere, free from crowds, allowing for a truly immersive experience. Though Covid restrictions limited us to only half of the trek, it didn't detract from the profound beauty of the forest. Despite restrictions on capturing certain moments, the opportunity to photograph and film other aspects of the forest was appreciated. The presence of a Rudraksha tree added to the spiritual ambiance, complemented by an enlightening lecture provided by our guide, whose fee was conveniently included in the entry ticket. The option to contribute to the community fund at the tour's conclusion was a heartfelt gesture, underscoring the forest's commitment to both preservation and community welfare. While the sale of Rudraksha beads at the tour's end might seem commercial, it didn't overshadow the overall experience. Respect for the locals’ practice there to protect forest's sanctity… do not take anything from the forest nor leave any of your belongings… strictly follow this if you are visiting too. The mesmerizing entry pathway set the tone for the enchanting journey ahead, enveloping us in the splendor of nature's majesty. Throughout the tour, the forest exuded positive vibes, leaving a lasting impression of peace and harmony. Mawphlang Sacred Forest is truly a sanctuary for the soul. Also enjoy some nice pics of a few dogs and cows who accompanied us :-)

Beautiful and sacred place of worship. Mawphlang Sacred Forest is a serene and peaceful place. Entry ticket is 30/- and guide charges - 350/-. You are not allowed inside without a guide. Guides are very helpful, they give you proper information. Ample parking space is available. Rudraksha tree is very old and beautiful.

Sacred and special, this place has a really good vibe to it. Loved the stories the guide shared bout this place and also understanding the cultural rituals that were performed at this place. There is a tree when you look towards the sky has a heart formation and that is something unique. The humongous tall trees with green moss on it look absolutely gorgeous. The air is so pure out here and this is a soul refreshing experience and you cannot get enough of this place. The vegetation, dried leaves and foresty trail adds to the charm of this place. The place is blessed with so many medicinal trees and there was a nice place to swing around like Tarzan. Just opposite the sacred forest is a green room area that has monolith like stones and also a country side house. The place looked absolutely picturesque with the stone walls. This place is a must must visit.

A sacred forest with a plethora of greenery. Witness many trees that i had only seen in pics. Very clean and serene environment. The guides give you a wonderful and informative tour. You will walk one among the many trails in the forest. Humble request - do not pick anything from the forest as it's sacred for the Khasi. Wonderful place, a must visit for nature lovers. Ask for the view point if you have time. A really wonderful place to sit and watch the multiple fold hills around the forest.

The forest was serene. You feel relaxed and connected to nature when inside it. The team managing it can increase the time we are allowed inside it. Also, they can take us little more inside the forest.

This place brings the magic of Mother Nature to you. The locals have maintained their ancient tribal ritual altars intact and have opened the place for public viewing at a very nominal fee. You need to compulsorily hire a guide, again, at a very nominal price, who takes you along the short forest trail while briefing you about the place, it's history and the traditional and cultural aspects associated with it. This is a one of its kind experience which is strongly recommended for the urban class. We were lucky to get Mr Nit as our guide, who is a great guide and is an expert in bird spotting as well.

This is a unique experience to have gone through. It is a guided tour/trek inside a part of forest, with well laid out path, The forest is divided into 3 parts. We are allowed in the middle. When we visited, only half of the trek was open, full trek was closed. There will be a guide assigned to a group and he will walk you through the tour. Our guide - Hep, did an amazing job of explaining the local stories, customs and the rituals they followed. Visiting the 3 mukhi Rudraksha tree was a unique experience. Plus we got try holding it between finger nails and see it rotate. Plenty of photo opportunities. And many monolith stones in the area. Restrooms are near the parking lot. There is a small tea stall to have some refreshments.

Peaceful, Calm and Serene. The tourist guide will show you the way. Best time to visit is during Monsoon. Along with the Grove, you can explore David Scott Trail and Khasi Heritage Village. There is a separate parking fee (depending on the vehicle) and guide fee. (Aparantly the guide fee is same, even if you come in a group or coming solo)

Mawphlang Sacred Grove is within the Sacred forest of Mawphlang. As per tradition, the locals in the forest used to offer sacrifices in this place though the practice is no longer observed. The rock monuments stand as symbols for such ancient practices. The spot can be reached by trekking into the sacred forest with the assistance of a paid local guide. It's quite educative and interesting to know the culture and beliefs of khasi people

It is an absolute stellar experience, giving you peace and bliss while enlightening you with the culture of the aboriginal groups from the local areas. It is truly heartwarming to see the locals take pride in their culture and work towards enlightening public about the same. Everybody is very down to earth, knowledgeable and friendly. Shout out to our guide Nikhil. The tour of the forest takes about 30-45 minutes and you will get to learn about the cultural importance and value it has amongst the locals.

A place where the only thing you can bring from is memories❤️ There is an ancient story associated with this forest and it is said that nothing goes out of the forest. You cannot bring out even a leaf out of the forest, if you do so, you might face ill-fate. This is something that is said by the legends,but not sure about how true it is. But we chose to respect their culture and we did not bring out anything. This forest is one of the oldest and most famous sacred groves of Meghalaya, harbouring a diversity like medicinal plants, trees and mushrooms. The main highlight is that you will get the opportunity to see Rudraksha tree .

Very vast and open planes followed by a culturally rich story of the sacred forest narrated by the guides. They provide details of some of the indigenous trees and the hike is barely 10 mins long which may disappoint folks who want to hike. You can skip this place if hiking is ur main agenda or if the full hike is open, u can opt for that.

It's a great place to visit. The view of this place is great. They charge 350 for a guide who is supposed to guide us through a 40 mnts Trekking. In reality it's just walking through a footpath inside a very less dense forest ( kind of a park ) for 20 minutes. So I think it's a scam to charge 350. And there's more to it, in fact there's entry fees separate and parking fees separate. So for just a park with 3 people for 40 minutes it's about 700 rupees.

It’s sacred forest and has great stories. The guide will engage you with the god,devil & animal sacrifices stories. This was the good part about the forest. And what we dint like the forest is very big but they will only allow you 50meters radius. Guide is compulsory. They charge 200 per person for forest enter and will say one person will get one guide. For eg: if you are sole you will get one guide or in group then also one guide. When I reached the 3 couples were already in waiting and asked us to join them. They said there is shortage of staff. They will show rudraskhs tree, people tree, banyan tree and that’s it.you are done with the forest tour. Take 1-2 pictures and done.

This is a dense forest which is sacred to the local Khasi tribe, you need to hire a guide from the entry point at nominal charges who will show the forest around and explain its religious and cultural significance for them. You can also explore later the lush green valley outside the forest.

There are 100 plus sacred forests in Meghalaya but tourists are allowed to visit this one along with local guided tour only. Every kingdom is supposed to have one sacred forest. It is not allowed to bring anything back from here as it could have dire consequences (health issues, haunting of spirits). This forest is residence of local deity Labasa. Local people do perform rituals and sacrifices here on a periodic basis for the wellness of tribe. The guided tour was pretty great.

Tourists of all age groups visit the beautiful Lady Hydari park and stroll on the paved walkways in the evenings, exploring and admiring the beautifully manicured lawns with an alluring collection of orchids and rhododendrons. During winters, one can visit the park during the afternoon and relax in the lawn area. It is an ideal place to visit with children because there is a nice playing area for them. The museum and the mini zoo inside the park premises makes for a good learning experience. Lady Hydari Park apart from strolling around provides a lot of photography opportunities as well as boating activities.

It's a very diverse and beautiful experience. The landscaping, layout, flora, ponds, zoo animals, museum, play structures and gazebos are fantastic. Kudos to the staff for keeping it in such a beautiful way. It's an amazing family picnic spot just 20 minute stroll from PB.

Good place for locals to come and spend the evening. But for someone coming from outside the city, this is not impressive. It’s a park for locals and you can see lots of locals having a nice time doing picnic, romance, kids playing etc. there is a small museum which is quite nice. Zoo has a few animals such as monkeys, fox, pelicans, parrots, bear, big cats etc. lots of big beautiful roses! Entry is 20rs and it closes around 5pm, quite early!

Less of a touristy destination and more of A nice outing for kids. There’s a zoo, lots of swings, fountains and open spaces for picnics if you’re into that. It was very clean but I reduced one star for maintenance. Although the zoo and the gardens were very well maintained, they could’ve planned the plants better. The zoo could also do with a few more birds, plants and animals. I was told it was usually full of flowers but not since a while. In the month of Jan, it could’ve been full of flowers with little work if they’d planned it better. Regardless, great spot for kids if you have young kids who like swings. On that day my kid found good company and enjoyed the time there. We planned for 40-60 mins but ended up spending around 4 hours! That said, if you’re a tourist who’s short on time or don’t have kids; you can skip this and head to Ward’s lake. If you’re looking for spots for pics in natural locations, then several spots all around the garden but I can recommend the pathways behind the fountain, bridge, around the little pond for birds, and towards the right of entry gate.

This park is located in the heart of the city of Shillong. Just before entering, several kinds of Street foods are available. Tickets are sold in the gate. Rs. 30 for adult, that is affordable by common people. Inside the park, there is zoo where we can see several big and small animals, but not the giants. There is pool, and birdings. Spectacular birds and monkeys makes the place nice to visit. Most of the park is featured by green grasses that makes the place comfortable just for taking rest, breathe fresh air and relax. The place is well cared. Flowers bloom to their fullness. Roses are big, fresh and beautiful. There are places where kids can play with swings and slides. I recommend this place for short visit and for spending one whole day. There is no wheelchair accessible entrance and parking.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the park, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The serene environment and picturesque scenery provided a peaceful escape from daily life. However, I couldn't help but imagine how wonderful it would be if the park had more animals to add an extra element of nature's charm. Moreover, one unique feature that stood out to me was the presence of a chess board. While the board itself was a nice addition, I couldn't help but think how much more captivating it would be if there were real chess pieces available. Imagine the joy of engaging in a game of chess amidst such a tranquil setting, with the pieces adding an extra touch of sophistication and entertainment to the park's ambiance.

I loved this place. Its like a small picnic for our kids. Long grass fields, animals, Ppay activity park everything is there . Fee is only 20 per adult. No charges for kids. Small zoo is also there. Wards and lake lady hydre park is must visit places for each tourists.

I don't understand why this is considered as a small Zoo. There are only 2-3 deer, a bear & one monkey which are kept very badly in cages. Botanical Garden just beside the lake also a good place to visit. Outside the lake some street shops there to buy snacks or cold drinks.

An urban lake and garden area with well maintained landscape. There are provisions for boating, dress rentals for local Khasi dressing. However there is only one entry and exit point. So beware of where you are going if you are in a time crunch. The place is beautiful and ideal for a family outing, walking and boating.

It's a beautifully maintained park that we visited twice during our trip because we couldn't explore it all in one visit. Visited the lake at possibly the best time, in the Cherry blossom season. It felt like we are in Europe! Ward’s Lake is amongst the popular tourist attractions of Shillong which is a must-visit. It is also known as Pollock’s Lake (Nan Polok) because of a popular engineer during the per-independence era. It is said to be around a 100 years old. It lies in the middle of the city of Shillong and the lake is surrounded by a lush garden with flower beds and cobble-stone footpaths and a mesmerizing fountain. There is a wooden bridge in the middle of the lake where one can even feed the fish in the lake. Boating is also one of the activities that can be done in the lake. There is a cafeteria too with a variety of refreshments and beverages. The entry fee is Rs 20/- per person. Overall a good experience the best time to visit during October to December.

Nice views, boating, ducks, landscapes and a good place to get your photos with cherry blossoms in the background! This place is filled with the young "Instagram" crowd, and you cannot go a few steps without announcing yourself and asking someone to pause their photo efforts. Not sure why this is on the list of tourist attractions, it's very much a local couples spot!

Very beautiful and big park surrounding the Wards lake. The cherry trees and beautiful flowers really makes it a pleasant place to sit and relax. There are boating and traditional outfit photo shoot facilities are available. A cafe is also present inside the park.

The beautiful Laitlum Canyons are a sight to behold. The place is amazing and spectacular with one of the best views your eyes will witness. Even though it takes about an hour and half to reach the place, it is totally worth it. Reaching the place from the city is easy, one can book a cab as well. The clouds feel like they're right above you, while the glistening rays of the sun will soak you up. Totally a 5 on 5 for Laitlum.

Awesome view overall, but during our visit the whole place is covered with mists and clouds so we could not see many parts clearly. Still the greenery, the hills and villages at the down area looks stunning from above. A perfect family hangout place

A amazing viewpoint with rolling hills & canyons. Though it is suggested to be visited around the monsoon months to enjoy this in its best form covered in green carpet all over. There are some eating options but very costly, 1 plate momo costing Rs 110. So better to skip meals at this place.

Fascinating place. One of the must visit this place if in Shillong. Takes around 2 hours to reach but once you reach here, you will not be disappointed and willing to come back. Rightly said the "end of the world". Mesmerizing landscape along with the heave of clouds will surely surely make this place a memorable one.

Reached here after a tiring day travelling to Shillong, and trust me when i say this, one look at the view and it felt like all my burdens had been lifted, i was just lost looking at the canyon. Greenery as far as the eyes could see. Wild flowers blooming on the slopes. Looking at cows grazing felt like I was in some kind of a dream. Was one of the happiest sunsets in a long time, and it got even better when it got dark and the moon came up, just magical. Even the drive here from Shillong city was quite scenic.

Been to Laitlum but couldn't get a view of the canyon because of the presence of clouds. Anyway enjoyed being in the mid of clouds. Felt the chill. The hot cup of tea offered by the lady vendors turned out to be very welcoming.

The Laitlum canyon is a beautiful range of ridges near Shillong. Once you park your vehicle in the parking lot, you are tempted to go to the nearest view point from there, and the views from there are good but the really beautiful views are actually at a walking distance of 5-7 minutes further ahead from there. You can easily spend as much time as you want just sitting on the grass and enjoying the beautiful views. There are many small vendors there selling corn and other items.

This place is really a very awesome place to visit near Shillong. It's around 20-25 KM from Shillong city and it beauty makes this place a worth visiting after having rides in the hills. The charm of this place may vary from season to season but each times it gives you a very good experience. Though there are few obstacles made out of bamboo in the top of the hill but still you need to move around very safely because a small mistake may even cost ones life. This place has a enough parking space and is maintained by local people with a charge of Rs. 40 for a bike.

Great view point, just enjoyed the cool breeze over the view point. The place is nearly maintained with bamboo bridge and seating arrangements to enjoy the view point. There is a private view point as well nearby, probably managed by locals, where they charge 20Rs per head to roam around and play sewsaw and swing.

A famous Church in located in the midst of Shillong. One of the tourists destination apart from a religious institution. The complex is huge with ample area to move around. There are many idols of Saints and mother Mary in the area. Looks awesome in the evening when lights are on during Christmas and New year. A perfect place to visit just to enjoy or pray.

This Church come school is located in Shillong. Its a beautiful place and one of the places to visit in Shillong city. Its open on Sundays as well. The view from the top is beautiful with clouds covering the hills. The only issue is that it does not allow outsiders to enter the Church praying halls. Earlier it was allowed but not anymore. You can visit this place for some good view and a calm ambience.

The Cathedral of Mary is a lovely church with well-maintained exteriors. Unfortunately, I couldn't explore the inside as the church was closed during my visit. While the exterior showcased a positive impression, I recommend checking the opening hours to ensure a complete experience. A serene spot worth visiting for its architectural beauty.

I visited the church on Christmas Eve 🎄 and it is so beautifully decorated 😍😍😍 It is a must visited and i onic places to visit in Shillong. The stunning beautiful architecture draws all the attention. One of the must visit places in Shillong. This church was first built in 1913 which got burnt, later it was reconstructed in 1936. The trenches are filled with sand to protect it from earthquakes. The church space is open almost all day, although for assembly specific timings are there. We stayed at a homestay in laitmukrah so it was walking distance from there, although if you're staying at police bazar you'll have to take the local taxi. We were there on Sunday morning while exploring Shillong on foot. Visitors hours where specifically displayed and after the mass prayer which was attended by huge crowd , we went in as visitors. Nice simple but huge church with huge campus surrounding it. It was quite a happening place on Sunday morning when whole Assam was busy celebrating Bihu.

Visited Cathedral on weekend (August 2023) around 11AM. A calm, peaceful and serene place where you get a chance to be one with the creator. The architecture of the cathedral building looks phenomenal from outside. The main service/prayer hall too has great architecture, but clicking photographs inside is not permitted. One of the serene location to must visit in Shillong.

A beautiful place, it cold and peaceful air make my body and mind refresh after the long journey of vehicle. It gives a beautiful view of mountains and valleys. It scenario is so beautiful and a fresh airy place. This place is not so crowded when I visited this place. You’ll get better view from morning after sunrise to till evening sunset .

Beautiful place... Enjoy entire shillong city from the top... Has various shops for eat and shopping... Ticket cost 50/- per person and car cost 200/- for carry to and from the ticket counter. One more thing always carry one ID proof document with you...

Really I don't feel, what is such a great thing about this place. IT IS THE BEST LOOTING AREA OF SHILLONG ALLOWED BY THE GOVERNMENT. They are not allowing taxis there on this side of the Air Force area. Local people are charging Rs 200 for taxi per person & Rs50 for entrance. They are using very old 40-year vehicles like Maruti-800 cars which don't have any standards as they are very old. It's a total waste of money. No one cares about the safety of tourists who travel in such old vehicles. Who is permitting those drivers? I don't know. Better avoid this place.

A must visit place in Shillong. The telescope present here is so powerful that you can actually see the entirety of the city like it's just in front of your eyes. You have to leave your cab behind and only authorised cabs available here are allowed to go to the final view point. There are exceptions for people in the armed forces, serving and retd both. There's no entry fee here.

At a distance of 13 km from Shillong Bus Stand, Shillong Peak is an enchanting vantage point located at Laitkor area of Shillong, Meghalaya. Situated in the outskirts of the Shillong, it is one of the popular viewpoints in Meghalaya and among the prominent places to experience Shillong Tourism. Placed at an altitude of 1,965 m (6,446 feet), Shillong Peak is the highest peak in Meghalaya. According to historians, Shillong is named after this hill. As per the locals, the patron deity 'Leishyllong' resided at the hill and protects the city against all evils. Besides, the top of the Shillong Peak has a sacred spot that is dedicated to U Shulong and special rituals are organised here in each spring to honour the spirit of U Shulong. The peak offers an enchanting 360 degree view of the entire Shillong city, surrounding waterfalls, the Himalayan Range, Bangladesh Plains and the lush greenery nearby. At the peak there is a high tower with a telescope. An ideal retreat for visitors, the location also features a radar station of the Indian Air Force. Due to security reasons at the air base, travellers need to show their original ID cards and surrender their cameras at the check post before entering into the viewpoint area. Foreigners are not allowed to enter this area as it is controlled by Indian Air Force. Timings: 9 AM - 3.30 PM, (Closed on Wednesday) Entry Fee: Rs. 30/- per Person & Rs. 30/- for Vehicle

A nice place to spend some time. A complete view of city Shilong. Clean air which we all love. Small place but a good time pass. Taxi arrangements are good thogh little expensive. Make sure to carry ID proofs while you travel here as the way is through cant. Highest point of Meghalaya as far as I know.

Outside car is not permitted to enter the premises. Ticket cost 50 rupees per person. Excellent view of Shillong city can be experienced from the view point. Everybody should visit. It only takes 30 min drive from Shillong city.

You get a breathtaking view of the mountains and valleys of Shillong from this viewpoint. There are two towers where, on one of them, there is a huge bino which can be used to view the important peaks across. You have to pay a nominal price for the service. There are also a few little shops selling snacks, fruits and soft drinks, juices, etc. The serene environment prevents you from wanting to leave. A wonderful place in Shillong...you can see the whole city from this point. The spot is controlled by the Indian Air Force and you need to show your valid aiD to enter this place. Have an amazing view with clear sky. But you need to book their cars to reach the actual point and the cost for the car is 200 along with the ticket price.

Shillong peak one of famous spot. If you are serving personnel you have to less pay otherwise your taxi will not move ahead till stop outside and another taxi will pick you at peak. There is cold 🥶😷because of height. Watch tower and telescope view sight for tourist you can see shillong view from there. There are few shops of food stuff, we preferred tea ☕🍵 it's really fruity and floral taste 😍😋 You can wear costumes of garo, khasi and jyantia tribes by making payments and you can take photos also. It is called the Shilong Peak view point. Outside vehicles are not allowed inside the premises. We have to take the tickets and wait for our turn. There are specific Alto cars which take us to the view point. You need to have an id proof to enter. It shows the view of the entire Shilong. There is also option to wear the local costumes and click pictures.

Nice view point from where you can get a clear idea about the shillong town. But the issue is,it's inside an army camp, so, going inside is a little bit complex. Nothing to worry about though, it's just that our army officials would perform a basic check.

The view point is amazing. But security is strict, you need to carry your ID proof to enter the premises. Also you'll have to take their car(rs. 200/ car) to enter the premises as the view point is located inside the military camp. No photos allowed inside only at the view point. Traditional khasi dresses are available to wear and take photos (rs.100). Great experience overall. Entry ticket @50/person No foreign tourist allowed.

Place is very clean and we can see entire city. They offer local attire on rent for pics. View is good and a must visit place.

Small museum but well laid out in a small structure with aircraft armament, uniforms, medals, flags, paintings and an aircraft simulator game. There's a cultural section for the northeast too, including the stretched skin of a python. The aircraft displays are limited in number and there is a souvenir shop. There is a small entry fee at the museum.

It’s a historical museum dedicated to Indian 🇮🇳 Air Force which is a perfect treat for aviation lovers and tourists. The ticket cost to visit the museum is Rs. 40 per person. The museum also depicts the culture of each of the individual states of Eastern India which is very informative and interesting! There is also a souvenirs shop where you can buy few stuff for gifting items and a restaurant to eat some good food. Do try the soup of the restaurant, it is extremely good 😊

Being a patriot and defence lover I planned to visit this place which is such a quiet place and you have to go through security checks before entering to premises. Honestly speaking this place is not worth visiting, after seeing some fake plane models I got bored. Yeah, you can grab a lot of information about various rankings in the Air force but this would have been more informative if had got some guide. Even you can get a glimpse of various tribes in Meghalaya. Anyway if you have ample amount of time then you can surely visit and click some photographs with fake models as i did.
