For many, stepping off a plane into Kathmandu is a pupil-dilating experience, a riot of sights, sounds and smells that can quickly lead to sensory overload. Whether you’re barrelling through the traffic-jammed alleyways of the old town in a rickshaw, marvelling at the medieval temples or dodging trekking touts in the backpacker district of Thamel, Kathmandu can be an intoxicating, amazing and exhausting place.

Kathmandu is not just the capital of Nepal but also the head office of the Central Region (Madhyamanchal) amongst the five development regions established by the 14 managerial zones of Nepal situated at the chief part of the country. The Central region consists of three zones, and they are Bagmati, Narayani, and Janakpur. Kathmandu lies in the Bagmati Zone.
The city’s amusing history is approximately 2000 years old, as indirect from an engraving in the gorge. Its religious associations are dominantly Hindu trailed by Buddhism. People of other religious views also reside in Kathmandu, offering it a diverse culture. Nepali is the main language of the city, yet many speak the Nepal Bhasa Newari as it is the focus of the Newar people and tradition.

A charming valley of ancient towns, intricate temples, and royal palaces, the Kathmandu Valley has been inhabited since 300 BC. For centuries, the valley has been a place of pilgrimage for both Buddhists and Hindus. Absorbed into the Nepalese Gorkha kingdom in the 12th century, the Kathmandu Valley has nonetheless managed to preserve its many historical structures into the twenty-first century, through wars and natural disasters. Because of its well-preserved architecture and strong cultural traditions, the entire valley was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Sprawling wildlife sanctuary providing a habitat for one-horned rhinos & birds, plus elephant rides.
Very good wildlife sanctuary.
It's nearer to guwahati. We visited there and saw a lot of single horn rhinos.
You can take a ride in Elephant or in a Jeep.
Best is the Elephant ride. If you go in a Jeep then one person will also accompany you from forest department.
We saw Rhinos, boar and wild pigs.

Tickets are cheap if you buy through gov website - pobitorasafari. Agency websites like pobitorawildlifesanctuary seems like genuine government website and charge double prices. Original charge for 1 jeep - Rs1800 approx, after other permit charges and everything it comes to 2400. We spotted many rhinos, buffalos, monitor lizard and sivet cat
Kamakhya Temple is a holy site located on a hilltop, featuring unique domed roofs and originating from the 7th century. Visitors are required to present a Rapid Antigen Test report at the office near the entrance gate due to COVID restrictions. A pass for darshan inside garv greh will be granted if all requirements are met, or else visitors can still perform puja within the temple premises.
The Kamakhya Temple is a Sakta temple dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya. It is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas.Situated on the Nilachal Hill in western part of Guwahati city in Assam, India, it is the main temple in a complex of individual temples which is the most comprehensive representation of the ten Mahavidyas of Saktism, namely, Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshwari, Bhairavi, Chhinnamasta, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi and Kamalatmika. It is the most visited place in Guwahati. It is located near the Brahmaputra river. There are long waited queue which lasts for average 4-5 hours. I will suggest to visit this place as early as possible in the morning. Definitely recommended by me.

Kamakhya Temple sits on a hill and is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya. The hill's view adds to the beauty. Crowds, especially during festivals, can be overwhelming. The rituals are fascinating, but some maintenance could improve. They also serve free food at certain times. It's a peaceful place for self-reflection. Overall, visiting the temple was a profoundly moving and enriching experience for the soul.

It was a fantastic experience , there are two systems of temple visit
1) as general visitors (free pass) : we stood in the line from 3:15 AM and got a chance to visit inside the temple at 10:30
2)as VIP(₹501/person) : Queue is less so you can get chance to visit early even you start late.
Infrastructure, location everything was so holy

If u ever visit Guwahati, dont miss a chance to visit Kamakhya temple❤️🙏.

The temple is situated a few kilometers away from the Guwahati Railway Station, and is open for visitors throughout the year. There is a legend attached to the history of the temple, which goes way back to the mythological age. According to the legend, Sati the wife of Lord Shiva (one of the holy Trinities in Hindu mythology) took her life at a 'Yagna' ceremony that had been organized by her father Daksha, because she could not bear the insults hurled at her husband by her father. On hearing the news of his wife's death, Shiva, the destroyer of all that was evil flew into a rage and punished Daksha by replacing his head with that of a goat. Torn between misery and blind fury, Shiva picked up the corpse of his beloved wife Sati and performed a dance of destruction called the 'Tandava'. The intensity of the destroyer's fury was so overwhelming that it took several Gods to pacify his anger. In the midst of this struggle, Sati's corpse accidentally got cut into 51 parts by the disc in the hands of Lord Vishnu (also one of the Trinities in Hindu mythology), and her female genitalia or 'Yoni' fell on the spot where the Kamakhya temple stands today, forming one of the many Shakti 'Peethas' embellishing the rest of her body parts.

The Kamakhya Temple is an awe-inspiring sacred site in India. Its architectural beauty and spiritual ambiance left me in awe. The stunning view from the hilltop added to the experience. However, the crowds can get overwhelming, especially during festivals. The rituals and ceremonies were fascinating, but some areas need better maintenance. Overall, a profound and soulful journey worth undertaking.

I recently visited Kamakhya Temple and was left in awe of its rich cultural significance and spiritual energy. The temple is located atop a hill and provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. The temple itself is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, and the rituals and traditions surrounding the temple are truly fascinating. The intricate carvings and architecture of the temple are also noteworthy and add to the overall beauty of the complex. The temple staff were very welcoming and provided useful information about the history and significance of the temple. You have to wait for 8 hours in queue for general darshan. Weekends may be more crowded.

I didn't like it for some reason. Outside shop keeper run after you to drop your footwear there and buy something from. Its good foe local economy but after a time it looks like harrasment to devotees and tourist.
After entering in Temple it was good feeling but then suddenly I saw slaughter house inside and one big animal may be cow recently slaughtered. There were many small goats (lambs) I was feeling sad to see them getting ready to be cut.
Overall, temple is good but people around and locals are making it bad.

Jai Maa Kamakhya Devi.
It is a Shakti peeth and it is told that whatever you wish here with a pure heart, it will be fulfilled.
About the temple...
Such a divine and nice temple. So much cleaned and vivid. A must visit with family and friends. It was really a pleasure to be there. It feels so calm and peaceful after we have worshipped the goddess Parvati Maa. It is said that it is one part of the 51 parts of Maa Parvati. It is a manyata that you have to visit Umananda temple (A temple of lord Shiva). after visiting here to complete the visit. The Umananda Temple is around 5-10 km from here and you have to reach there by taxi or your personal vehicle and then take a ferry or private boat to reach the island as It is situated in between the River Brahmaputra. Assam has been blessed with so many grateful things but this temple just made it to a favourite place of Hindu devotees.

I have no words to express the spirituality of maa kamakhya. Wonderful experience.
In these days of COVID situation, you need to show Rapid antigens test report to the office near the entrance gate. If all good then they will give a pass for darshan inside garv greh. If not then you can enter the temple premise and do puja only.
If you don’t have report then there are camps doing it in the city down the hill. Report comes in max 1-2 hrs.
Temple opens at 8am in winters. Due to COVID there was no rush in morning. At 7:30am there were only 10-15 people ahead of me. Darshan was peaceful and pandit jee gave enough time. Wonderful...
Please do plan to visit this temple and be blessed!

One of the most popular destination places in all over Assam state. An ancient temple in Assam near guwahati. The temple has its own mysterious story according to 'PURANA'. •A place of many people's unwavering faith, Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati is a major destination for all the people seeking spirituality, peace and devotion.
•It was my third time visiting here but this time i decided to go inside the main shrine, the journey to which is an experience. It will put your devotion and patience to test.
•After standing in the queue for around 6 hours, we reached the main shrine.
•There are VIP lines also where you have to pay Rs. 501 to get early access in there.
•You'll be amazed by the level of devotion people have in today's date. It is almost overwhelming.
•I would recommend to get started early morning to be able to complete the tasks before noon itself.
•To mention, the environment of the area is really calming and gives you positive vibes.
•A visit is recommended for those who believe and spirituality and finding inner peace.
•In the noon, there is distribution of free lunch for which you'll have to get coupon and stand in the queue.

Very bad place in my opinion. Because Here people with VIP tickets enters easily, but normally tourists have to wait hours to enter the temple. I have to wait 6 hrs to visit the temple and the VIP ticket persons [ Rs. 500-1000] enters easily without even waiting. Though it's a good place to visit but they shouldn't do this with normal poor visitors. So, I rate it 1 star only .
Gorumara National Park is a vast floodplain and forest national park that covers an expansive area of almost 50 square miles. The park houses diverse wildlife, including rhinos, elephants, and leopards. For visitors looking to explore the park, it's recommended to opt for a jungle safari rather than a watch tower Safari. The best time for a jungle safari is during morning slots when chances of spotting an elephant are particularly high.
It's a bliss...endless stretch of greenery and the fresh air. The safari is a must-try here and one of the main attractions. There are 3 timings for safari: 6am,9am and 2pm. The early morning 6am slot timing is the best for safari. Tickets prices are: Rs.450 per head including a guide, plus another Rs.150 per vehicle entry fee. Each vehicle(top open gypsy jeeps) takes 4 passengers + 1 guide + 1 driver. You need to stand in line to get tickets and don't forget to take a xerox of your Aadhar card/other govt. id. There is a huge rush, so reach way before the timing and get a spot in the line(they have about 20 vehicles going per slot). The ticket counter is about 1km from Lake View Resort towards the market. Even if spotting a few animals here depends on luck, missing the wild experience would be a big mistake. There are 25 different kinds of orchids found here apart from many other trees worth watching. Amidst the forests, there are 2 tribal villages here. The roads running through the dense green forest on either side and the never-ending flow of cold breeze is perfect for any nature lover. It purifies your soul. A must-visit place for anyone willing to get a blend of little altitude, forest, small rivers and quiet, peaceful surroundings in the lap of nature.

Visited Gorumara National park for the first time. Had Jungle Safari by Gypsy, which costs 1935 for six persons including guide. The experience was good but we had bad luck. We couldn't spot any animal except some birds ( Hornbill and peacock). Although my expectations were not satisfied, the overall experience was good.

It truly feels like stepping into a dreamful spot where nature's wonders unfold before your eyes. An amazing experience that left me in awe of the beauty of our natural world!

Gorumara National Park is one of the most dense forests of West Bengal. Sometimes I felt it denser than Jaldapara. It’s a big forest with a huge variety of wild animals and a number of plants. The main attraction of Gorumara National Park is the Jeep Safari from NIC Lataguri to Jatraprasad Watch Tower. The best timing for the Jeep Safari is 3:30 PM to 5 PM because this time there is much possibility to find wild animals especially Elephant, Peacocks and Deers. The Rhino is also a main attraction of this place. In the evening time you can feel the silence of deep forest which can’t be felt in the morning or afternoon. Online booking is available at West Bengal Forest Department Website. You can book the Safari online and enjoy the wildlife beauty.

It's all about luck here. If luck favours you, you can behold the sight of the Indian elephants, barking deers, peacocks and the Indian Rhino. The guides are very skilled and can spot them at one go. Gorumara National Park is in Northern West Bengal, India. Located in Dooars region (foothills of Himalaya). It is a small forest preliminary habitat of Indian rhinoceros. Apart from this it has got varieties of elephant, bison, leopards, wild cats and birds. Also so many insects.
Lovely place to visit with friends and family during weekends. This park has safari timings at both morning and evening for very less number of tourists. Therefore, getting a chance to have safari inside the jungle is really wonderful experience.

Safari program not exciting at all. Offline morning booking available morning at before 5AM .ticket processing and ride start from 6AM slot wise.
If enjoy safari program then confirm online book at Jaldapara National Park and stay not Lataguri. It is my views and experience based on multiple area local public. However other than jungle safari like peripheral sightseeing is fine.

Service from Gorumara national park is good like pick up from your kpdtc resort and drop.
They have a dedicated folk dance show after the safari if it is in the evening.
But if you are interested in seeing animals this safari is not for you.
Hardly you can spot any animals.
We got to see only peacock and bison.

We found peacock, elephants, bison & dears during our safari. But, most importantly it was the vibes of the jungle that we enjoyed most. It was really a dense jungle & certainly well maintained by the authority.

Nature at its best. Preferably stay st Kalipur Eco Village run by Forest Department. They only have four trees houses in the property amidst tree garden and jungle. Stay itself is thrilling. Food is basic but tasty, special mention Mr Biswanath who always there to take care of you. Don't expect any luxury, everything is basic, just enjoy the nature. Ample car parking space. You can also enjoy tribal dance in the evening.

Amazing place with a peaceful atmosphere. Temperaure is generally lower than 0 degrees. It has parking space and has a toilet. There is a small snacks corner nearby which serves very limited food, mainly maggi and sandwich. You can find snow here, gloves recommended. Also the elevation makes it difficult to breathe for certain people so plan accordindly.

This is not a temple of God but an extraordinary soldier who had taken a pledge to serve the country even after his death. Yes, this temple is build in respect of soldier who passed away years back but still stayed on army rolls till he retired. After he died and his body was not found for days due to snow all around, he came into dream of his fellow soldier and told whereabouts of his body. From that day onwards he comes into dreams of soldier and tells about preparedness and mischief of neighbouring enemy china. He kept on receiving all dues from army till his retirement age even after his death. People come here with great faith. One to to respect this faith and appreciate the vibrant culture from which we all belong. The temple is fully managed by Army.

As one lands at this location one hears very invigorating songs expressing ones love for the nation,. The shrine itslef is very well kept and manged by the Indian Armed forces. As you enter one is overwhelmed by the divinity that surrounds the memorial.
I was surprised when I first heard the story behind this place. It's up to you to believe it or not, but the fact remains that it has become a famous tourist spot. This is close to Nathula Pass and after visiting Nathula pass, your tourist guide will take you to this place. The story goes like this, Harbhajan Singh was an Indian Army Jawan, who was patrolling the border and carrying his duty. One day he dies while he was performing his duty, but people notice that his room, his bed all are soiled / being used by someone even after his death. The belief is that he is still visiting this place and guarding the border. So, the locals have built a temple like thing around his living room with his artifacts. Everyone visit this place to pay homage to this great soul.

Nathula pass, situated on the ancient Silk Road, linked Sikkim to China's Tibet autonomous region. It is one of India's highest motorable roads that provides a scenic view of the Indo-Chinese border. The meaning of Nathu La is listening ears and pass respectively. However, taking pictures on the actual border is strictly prohibited and can lead to military action being taken against you.
Nathula pass is Indo-China border area about 60 odd kms/ 2 hours drive from Gangtok. Situated at eastern part of Sikkim. This place is very beautiful and scenic, you get to see top view of Sikkim. China border is just barb wire away. Weather gets extremely cold in winter, mostly sub zero degrees. High security area, so you need to take a permit prior to the visit. Photography is not allowed at the border region due to security reasons.

Visiting Nathula pass is an experience in itself.
Visited here with family in January first week. My younger daughter started having breathing. I too got breathing issues when I quickly ran on the stairs after 14000 feet.
You need to be really careful with high as altitude.. Do not exert too much too fast.. Take it easy and keep yourself covered in cold weather.
You have to register online with Sikkim Govt and get travel card and find a travel agent to do the rest of the approvals one day in advance.
Once on the top you can see China post.. If the weather is good you can even see China army personnel on the other side.

Nathula pass is located in the old silk route, connecting Sikkim to China's Tibet autonomous region. It's one of the highest motorable roads in India.
Nathu means listening ears and La means Pass.
Quite literally you can see the indo-chinese border and feel the thrills.
Taking photos on the actual border is strictly prohibited with actionable steps taken from military.
Make sure to get the certificate from here at a nominal price.
A valid permit is required to visit this pass and only given to Indian Nationals, so do carry a Valid ID Proof and 2 photos. No worries if you don't have photos, there are plenty photo booths peppered across Gangtok Mall road for exact same purpose.

The road leading to Natula Pass was not only scenic but also well-maintained, making the drive enjoyable. Along the way, I encountered friendly locals who were supportive and willing to share insights about the region. Their warmth added to the overall charm of the trip.
As I reached the pass itself, the cold was quite intense, a reminder of the high-altitude location. But it was also a thrilling sensation, being at the border of two powerful nations. Tsomgo Lake, also known as Tsongmo Lake or Changgu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim, some 40 kilometres from the capital Gangtok. Located at an elevation of 3,753 m, the lake remains frozen during the winter season. A very sparkling place to make your photos enhanced everytime you click, go in Feb March. You may get ice there, however we went there last month with a little spoon of bad luck, neither clicked a picture with lake nor touched ice as they were absent. You may see the cow like creatures (I actually don't know the name of that species) get a ride, though it was optional. Make sure you visit the nearby market, food plazas definately disappoint you, although the washrooms are more expensive than iPhones in terms of accessing. May the photographs please you.

This shrine in Sikkim is located 11 kms from Gangtok,on the road to another famous attraction, Tsomgo lake, Nathula. A visit to this place will make you feel spiritual; as soon as you ascend the stairs, a far distant prayer comes into sight and religious music is heard. The best part of it all, is the view one gets, which comprises a site of a small part of Gangtok town and the alluring neighbouring hills and valleys.
The legends has it, Hanuman flew down to this very spot to rest while flying with Sanjeevani (herb) Mountain from the Himalayas to Lanka to save Lord Rama's brother, Lakshman.

Hanuman temple is dedicated to lord Hanuman, and maintained by the Indian army. It was established in 1952. According to the locals, when Hanuman was flying to Dunagiri (mountain) which had the life saving herb Sanjeevani to save Lord Rama's brother Lakshmana, he rested in the spot for some time where his temple now lies.
But according to our guide, someone from the ministry had a dream about the same and that’s why the temple is here.
Anyway, the temple is a good spot to visit. Must take laddu parshad.

In Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim, there is a popular attraction known as the Flower Exhibition Centre or Flower Garden. It is located near the White Memorial Hall on the Ridge Road and is a delightful place for nature lovers and enthusiasts of colorful blooms.

The garden is divided into different sections, each dedicated to specific types of flowers or plants. Visitors can explore vibrant beds of seasonal flowers, ornamental plants, and lush green lawns.

During the flower show, the garden is adorned with a stunning display of flowers arranged in various patterns, designs, and themes. The place is really pretty. You know you when you want to see something different. It’s a small conservatory so if you not into flowers or gardening so maybe it’s not a place for you. If you visit this place around spring you might be able to witness fully blossomed flowers. Either way it was nice. Worth your 15-20mins.

Flower Exhibition Center is an amazing place we visited on the way to Nathula Pass. This Flower Exhibition Center showcases all types of flowers from different parts of Sikkim. Some of the rarest types of flowers are also showcased here. Though it is a small center it has varieties of flowers. This center also has different types of orchids too. This centre opens at 9 am in the morning. It remains open till 5 pm in the evening. Nominal entry fees has been charged. ₹20 per person. Once in a year they arrange an exhibition and many people around the country visit this centre. You can take a cab from Gangtok and it won’t take much time.

This is the venue of the acclaimed Sikkim Flower Show which showcases flowers from the different parts of Sikkim together under a single roof which makes it a heaven for all the nature lovers. It's located right across the White Memorial Hall and below the Ridge Park, it lies at a walking distance from the MG Marg. Inside the range is not vast but rather it has astonishing gathering of flowers of a wide range. If you have a thing for flowers, then this is the spot for you. Every single Flowering plant are marked with the goal that you know which is what. There is a little footbridge over a small artificial pool that you can stroll over. The spot is perfect for incredible photography amongst bright flowers and bushes.

Flower Exhibition Centre, which is situated in Gangtok, showcases flowers from the different parts of Sikkim together under a single roof which makes it a heaven for all the nature lovers. Located right across the White Memorial Hall and below the Ridge Park, it lies at a walking distance from the MG Marg. Though the flowers are displayed here all through the year, the annual flower show which is held from April to May should not be missed out on as during this time, the management gathers here and presents numerous varieties of orchids along with other flowers from around the state. Participants from the neighbouring states are invited to be a part of the annual flower contest held in the premises by the Government of Sikkim.
A medium-sized tropical greenhouse, the centre is filled with unusual species of plants including numerous species of fresh orchids namely Anthurium and Lilium. The presence of such different varieties of colourful flowers along with its enchanting fragrance fills up the entire centre making it a very refreshing place for the visitors. This lovely place is fantastic to spend time at just looking at the flowers and clicking pictures. In addition to all this, there is an artificial water pond along with a bridge constructed over it where the tourists can take a little stroll while enjoying the pleasant ambience around. One is likely to get amazing photographs amongst the colourful and bright bushes and flowers. This place is worth a visit if you are planning a trip to Gangtok for looking at the ever-smiling flowers is going to freshen you up entirely and brighten your day.
The ideal time to visit the Flower Exhibition Centre in Gangtok is from March and June when the orchids bloom fully and are showcased to the general public. Also, with the pleasant climate, it becomes an enjoyable trip.

Flower collection was very average at the time of my family visit there. Sikimeas dresses are available here for rent.Is a flat stretch of road exactly above Gangtok Town and if you’re into floriculture, an hour or two will pass by in the blink of an eye. Sikkim’s weather conditions are conducive to orchid cultivation and you will lose count of the number of varieties you spot at Ridge Park. A gazebo for travellers to rest while walking this stretch is a great addition for those simply wanting to get a feel of Gangtok.
The Annual Orchid Show takes place below the Ridge Park at the Flower Exhibition Centre (FEC). While the greenhouse might look modest in size, once you step in you are lost among a variety of colours. Flowers pop up in every nook and corner.

Extremely beautiful flowers on display here. Sikkim seems to have a LOT of vibrant flowers. The entry ticket costs just Rs.20 per person.
You can also buy some flower bulbs if you are enamoured by any particular variety.
If you have already visited the Plant Conservatory, however, then this place is redundant, unless you really love flowers.

The carefully curated displays of colorful blossoms, fragrant flowers, and exquisite arrangements create a mesmerizing ambiance. Strolling through the Centre is a sensory delight, with the sight and scent of countless floral varieties enchanting visitors. The attention to detail in the exhibits is commendable, and the knowledgeable staff is always eager to share insights about the flowers. If you love nature and flowers, you can't miss this place when you visit Gangtok as a tourist. It's a perfect place to explore during spring when you can find various kinds of flowers that are a treat for the eyes. The 20 rupees admission goes towards entering a greenhouse with some selection of plants all for sale. You will be asked to buy plants before entering. The outside garden which looks like it would make the entrance worth it, is locked, however, you can see it for free by walking by. Save your money unless you plan to buy the plants from this location. There is no information, history, etc.

OMG, the sight itself is outstanding! First, there is this century-old teakwood house rearranged into Floral Culture. This beauty with the lush garden was inspired by the western influences at that time. So to speak colonial-style serves her well, with elegant balcony, big garden and direct approach to the canal. Back in time, the most important houses were situated near the canal However, the canal here is not in big, it still is. No matters how cool this house is, the real gem is at the back of the house – the garden.

The Coronation Bridge was constructed in 1937-41 to honour the coronation of King George-VI and Queen Elizabeth. Designed by PWD Darjeeling, John Chambers. Constructed by Gammon India.
The bridge has a steel arch design, its deck is built of steel girders and its arches are supported by concrete piers.
There are two lanes on the bridge, and both vehicles and pedestrians can use them. It serves as a crucial connection between Siliguri and Darjeeling and the rest of India’s northeastern states.
The Coronation Bridge is a popular tourist destination that provides a stunning view of the Teesta River and the hills in the area.
A number of food and gift stalls are situated close to the bridge, giving visitors a chance to sample regional cuisine and purchase souvenirs.

It’s located next to Kalimpong city. I stayed one night in the guest house, with gst one room costs around 4000rs . Rooms has a good feeling, wall , floor all has wooden finish. Restaurant is there , but you have to order before what you want to have( choices are few). As I stayed there , that particular night I was the only person staying in that guest house other than one old couple in one room and one cook and caretaker. As soon as night appears , a bit haunted feeling comes . I tried to go to the pine garden but an owl or some animal shouted so loud I changed my mind instantly. But I must say you must stay at least one night in the guest house to experience the awesome feeling. A lot of homestays are there with a cheaper price. But it has another satisfaction if you stay one night there. A lot of things are there in the park , horse riding, and other activities. Next to the parks gate paragliding counters are there. 3500 rs per person if you want to do paragliding.

The Tiger Hill is a popular tourist spot in Darjeeling located at an altitude of about 8,442 feet above sea level. The hill is famous for its dramatic views of Mt. Everest and Kangchenjunga, as well as other peaks around the region. Visitors can enjoy the sunrise here from early morning until sunset, but be advised that it can be quite cold up at the hill so those who are not used to the cold should prepare themselves accordingly.

That was a truely magical moment.
Definitely must visit!!!
People start gathering here from mid night so that they can get themselves the best spot to experience this beauty.
It gets tooo crowded as the sun is about to rise.
Only if the place was well maintained ...it would have been very convenient and added more beauty to this experience.

On the 17th November morning, at 4 AM, we set out for Tiger Hills. The usually sleepy town of Darjeeling was surprisingly up & about at this unearthly hour with hundreds of cars heading the same way, so much so, that we actually encountered traffic snarl-ups at that time.
The driver left us at a point from which we had to walk for about 5 minutes on a rather steep slope. We could have driven up further but then, extracting ourselves from the parking chaos would have been very difficult.
There is a building to your right, as you approach the viewing point. This is an unfinished building - 4 stories - but the viewing balconies have been set up by local entrepreneurs in the first two levels, complete with plastic chairs rented out ₹ 50 per chair.
It's a long wait so we availed of the chairs and took our places facing East. Now, remember, you are not going there to see ONLY the sunrise but ALSO the snow-capped peaks changing hues as the sun shows it's face. Therefore, you need to keep an eye to your left as well, the North, where the peaks are. Try and sit as close to the NE corner of the viewing 'gallery' as you can for the best of both views.
In the attached photos I have tried to capture how the skies AND the mountains change colour with the rising sun but nothing can possibly replicate what one's eyes behold.
Getting back is a nightmare. There are nearly 700-800 cars, a thousand odd pedestrians trying to reach their respective vehicles and all within a pretty narrow road with a fairly steep slope.
Overall, it was an amazing experience. Very cold, very steep climb, rather poor infrastructure (for viewing) but Nature has made up for all man's lacunae!

What a beautiful view from the hilltop!! It you want to see the sunrise then you must visit this place by 4am morning. We had a great experience!!

The best view in Tiger Hill in West Bengal is the one that shows the **sunrise over the Himalayan peaks** of Everest and Kanchenjunga. You can see the changing colors of the sky and the mountains as the sun rays hit them. It is a mesmerizing sight that attracts many tourists and photographers.
However, to enjoy this view, you need to reach Tiger Hill very early in the morning, preferably before 4:30 am, as it gets crowded and foggy later.
If you want to avoid the crowd and the cold, you can also visit Tiger Hill in the evening, when you can see the **sunset over the valley** and the town of Darjeeling. You can also enjoy a walk through the bamboo and pine forest on your way to Tiger Hill.
The best time to visit Tiger Hill depends on the weather condition and your preference. If you want to see the **snow-covered mountains** in their full glory, then the period from **mid-October to December** would be ideal. However, if you want to avoid the cold and enjoy a clear sky, then the period from **March to May** would be better⁴⁵. January and February are mostly foggy and have less visibility⁴.
You should also plan to visit Tiger Hill early in the morning, preferably before sunrise, to catch the spectacular view of the sun rays hitting the peaks of Everest and Kanchenjunga. You might need to book a jeep or a taxi in advance to reach there on time, as it is a popular tourist attraction.

If you want to see the mighty Kanchanjungha with the first light of the day, this place is for you. If you are lucky enough you might see Everest & 3 Sisters. To get the best place please come at around 3-3:30 A.M.

Tiger Hill in Darjeeling offers a captivating sunrise experience that is simply breathtaking. Rising early in the morning to witness the first rays of the sun painting the snow-capped peaks of Kanchenjunga at around 5:30 AM is a truly mesmerizing sight. The panoramic view of the Himalayas from the hilltop is awe-inspiring and worth every moment of the journey. The serene and tranquil ambiance adds to the magic of the experience. The trip to Tiger Hill was well-organized, and the local guides provided insightful information about the region. For a memorable and awe-inspiring sunrise view in Darjeeling, Tiger Hill is an absolute must-visit.

Amazing view of Kanchenjunga on the left and the Sun rise on the right. Huge crowd and the newly built small stadium makes it very exciting experience.

Tiger hill is famous for its sunrise view, as on your right-hand side there is sunrise hue is coming up in the sky and its first rays touch Kanchenjunga mountain. On the left side, it gives different shades in the sky. Very mesmerizing view as one side is golden above the horizon and below Darjeeling still in dark with glittering night lights. But to get this experience one has to leave his bed very early in the morning and lucky enough to have to get crystal clear weather.
The view of the mighty Kanchenjunga from here is mesmerizing. The road to this point is such delight. The dense forest leading to the observatory is so beautiful and peaceful, it's a must-visit. People generally say that the best time to visit here is before sunrise. The whole experience of visiting Tiger Hill is very special. Away from the crowd, you actually feel the essence of the forest. The temples on the way to the observatory are very very calm and provide a nice spiritual experience. Overall, a must-visit place on a visit to Darjeeling. To actually feel the calm prevailing the place, do visit it in the day hours rather than the sunrise.

Loved the place. The sunrise observatory point. It's the main view point in Darjeeling to see the Kanchenjunga. Was bit crowded but still enjoyed the most. Went there at 4:40 am to enjoy one of the most breathtaking scenes of my life. Witnessed the beautiful sunrise of Darjeeling and the greatness of the mighty Kanchenjunga. If you travel to Darjeeling and don’t visit there then it should be a punishable crime. Lol. But if you are in luck and the clouds don't mess things up then you may see the actual beauty of Darjeeling and The Kanchenjunga. Also there are some local shops there to buy shawls, sweater and souvenirs. You may enjoy the view with some coffee too. Will visit again there surely.

A beautiful sunrise and breathtaking views of sunlight reflecting off Kanchenjunga make this spot truly special. It's the only place in Darjeeling I know of where you can catch a glimpse of Mount Everest on a clear day. The place was so crowded though even on a weekday.

The beauty of this place makes it the king of all sites in Darjeeling. A huge crowd gather here just to witness a five minute sun rise and it will make your visit to Darjeeling worthy. The sunrise time may vary from season to season but the common thing is rising sun focusing it's rays on the Kanchenjunga hills just opposite to it. After getting sun rays, the snow on the hills glitter into golden colour and that is the perfect moment to capture for a unforgettable memory. The best time to visit this place is during winter season.
There is a good sitting arrangement but in order to get a perfect site seeing you need to come to this place before 2 hours of sunrise. Many vendors are available here selling refreshing items at your seat.

A breathtaking sunrise experience at Tiger Hill, Darjeeling
Tiger Hill, perched atop Darjeeling, is not just a viewpoint; it's an experience. As the first rays of dawn paint the majestic peaks of Mt. Everest and Kangchenjunga in hues of gold and orange, you'll witness a spectacle that will leave you speechless. The sight of the snow-capped Himalayas emerging from the clouds, casting their shadows on the valleys below, is a memory that will stay with you forever.
More than just a sunrise:
While the sunrise is undoubtedly the main draw, Tiger Hill offers much more. The panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys are stunning, and the cool morning air is invigorating. You can also take a walk along the nature trails or visit the nearby Ghoom Monastery.
Tips for your visit:
Arrive early! The crowds can get quite large, especially during peak season.
Dress warmly, as the temperature can drop significantly before sunrise.
Overall, Tiger Hill is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Darjeeling. It's an experience that you won't forget!

A must-visit place in Darjeeling. You will get an amazing view of the mountain Kanchenjunga and a glimpse of Mt. Everest.
The drive from Darjeeling would approximately take an hour. Ensure to reach the spot by 5 AM to get parking and grab the best place for a serene view of the sunrise.
If there is a delay in reaching the spot, it will be a hassle to find the parking, and you will have to park the vehicle 500 meters away from the view point.
You will have to take a stroll to reach the view point, as the walk is steep.
Do not forget to carry your winter gear.

Just staring at the mesmerizing beauty with a silent gaze - truly amazing! A small valley like Bowl is as mesmerizing during the day as it is in the beautiful night light. Kanchenjunga, Pondim are a few such as the Buddha Park in Rabangal, a quiet little hill town in the south of Sikkim surrounded by Himalayan peaks. Many go away after a while but the real beauty of now is after sunset. All over the park there are colorful lights - the Buddha is sitting peacefully in the middle of the busyness of the clouds.

This one of the best International monuments to visit. There is a sprawling garden in the middle of which there is a towering statue of Buddha.
Inside the main chamber the 22 deeds of Buddha and his life story is Pai Ted with all proper signage. It is a spiral chamber and so beautifully done. No photography is allowed inside.
It is a must visit place not only in Sikkim, not only in India but in the whole world.

One of the latest and best attractions in Sikkim.
This is roughly a day trip from Gangtok, 4 hours each way drive, so be prepared to start early morning so that you can return by dusk.
The park is situated in a large area incorporating the gigantic Buddha statue at the centre, a fountain, a Buddha museum with paintings and writings on the life of Buddha, a convention centre and many pathways to go walking round the park.
There are restrooms and many small cafes and souvenir kiosks around the area. For the elderly and people with mobility problems there are battery operated mobility vehicles to rent.
Expect to be spending around 2-3 hours here.

We stayed in the Campbell room. Beautifully appointed, cozy rooms.. a bit of a concern would be that these rooms may get very hot and stuffy during the summers (as temperatures nowadays are increasing to new highs). They have provided fans but if temperatures keep increasing that may not suffice.
The rooms are very well decorated and they provide a wide range of teas, coffee, sodas, and snacks for the guests. I really appreciated how generous they are and the fact that they provide glass bottles for water.
The hotel is gorgeous with lovely flowers all over the place. It's quiet (opposite the Governor's House) and a great place to see Darjeeling the way it used to be decades ago.
It's a bright and colourful spot that is an easy 10 minute stroll away from the main Chowrasta at the Mall. There are viewpoints a minutes walk away and you can sit there and enjoy the mountain views and the elusive Kanchenjunga (if you visit in June).
Their restaurant is fantastic with wide variety, great food, and excellent service.

No visit to Darjeeling can be complete without a visit to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Importantly it is in the same entrance to the Zoo and therefore its 2 birds with one stone. Nevertheless, it would be smart to
take out at least a couple of hours to cover this place. About 1 hour 15 mins to buy tickets and experience and also learn a bit of Wall climbing, Rock climbing, zip climbing etc. The remaining 45 mins to cover the
beautiful museum. Well for tourists who absolutely hate a museum they can also spend some time as it provides insights of the mountaineering gears, various expeditions taken by this institute and terrains of the
Himalaya shown in amazing details. There is also a memorial of Padma Bhushan Tenzing Norgay that should not be missed out. I would also recommend the Mountaineering and Adventure film show that costs Rs30/-
per person. The show timings are 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM and 4 PM. There is also a very nice Souvenir shop in front of the Museum and it has fantastic collections to take back home. Do give it a try too

A place where u can learn mountaineering... For tourists, they have a museum where u can experience all kinds of equipment used by Mountaineers during their expectations... Except that Dress & equipment used by Tenzing Norge and many famous mountaineers, are preserved here.. U can learn the location of each & every important peak and rivers of the Himalayas from a life size model.. The museum has its own cafeteria and souvenir shop here... Recently wall climbing, zip line and many more activities also started here... As it is situated inside Padmaja Nehru Zoo, ticket price is included in the main ticket & photography is strictly prohibited inside the museum building...

The trip entails a long walk.
The animals in the zoo looked sad and drowsy.
You can get mementos and warm clothings from the nearby shops.
Towards the end of the road there is a cafe worth its coffee.

Situated inside the Darjeeling zoo this place is difficult to find. Though a large amount of people visit the zoo a limited population visits this institute and the museum inside it. Mountaineering enthusiasts and history buffs would love this place. The institute offers various courses on mountaineering and details can be obtained from their website. The museum houses the original equipments used by Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hilary during the first ever ascent of the mount Everest. It also has iconic pictures and can educate one on the evolution of mountaineering equipments.

What a great experience i had during my visit. Lovely scenic view & mesmerizing dancing of water through the mountains, truly a great site. A 20/- rupees is changed during the entrance. Variety of stores of food, itinerary & other handmade stuffs are available in the entrance area. My personal suggestions visit during the time March or April when the show melts or else during monsoon season which is quite risky but still worth a visit.

Kanchenjunga Falls is one of the most scenic waterfalls in Sikkim and one of the only few where you can get soaked in the water. Amazing scenic beauty all around this waterfall. It's located in Pelling (West Sikkim). The water originates from the glaciers of Kanchenjunga mountain. You will have to climb about 50 steps from the road to reach the falls and the view you will get post this climb is truly mesmerizing.

The waterfall is good. It's not a very tall waterfall.
In a small place there could be too much crowd.
There is a entry ticket of Rs. 20 each.
There is a small Zip line for which the fees is Rs. 100. It's not good but for Rs. 100 it's ok for anyone doing it for the first time.

Kanchenjunga waterfall is blessing of nature. It's so beautiful and pure and well maintained till date.
Just beside road they give you a chance of zip lining upon the beautiful view of waterfall which is rather short, but the real view initiates when you climb on the stairs for the real view.
The sound of the water and the view is majestic. Just try to choose a time which can avoid crowd.

One of the best falls in Sikkim. It is known for its splendid beauty and glory. You have to climb upstairs about 50 steps to see the main falls. You can do rope sliding here. You can also eat foods and buy chocolates, biscuits and snacks from the stalls. Highly recommended.

Mountain waterfalls are one of the most mesmerizing natural wonders that can be found in several parts of the world. These cascading wonders of nature offer a breathtaking sight of water falling from a great height, creating a mesmerizing experience for anyone who visits them.
One of the most striking features of mountain waterfalls is the sound of the water as it falls from great heights. The sound can range from a gentle trickle to a thunderous roar, depending on the size and force of the waterfall. This creates a calming effect and helps to relieve stress, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and meditation.
Another fascinating aspect of mountain waterfalls is the misty surroundings that they create. The water droplets from the falling water often create a misty cloud that surrounds the waterfall, giving it a dream-like quality. This misty atmosphere also creates an excellent environment for lush greenery to thrive, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers.
The beauty of mountain waterfalls is further enhanced by the surrounding landscape. Many of these waterfalls are located in mountainous regions, which offer spectacular views of the surrounding valleys, mountains, and forests. This creates a picturesque environment that is ideal for photography and sightseeing.
In conclusion, mountain waterfalls are a breathtaking natural wonder that offers a unique experience to anyone who visits them. The sound of falling water, misty surroundings, and spectacular views of the surrounding landscape make mountain waterfalls a must-visit destination for anyone who loves nature.

Kanchenjungha waterfalls is one of the largest waterfalls in West Sikkim situated at a distance of 24 km from Pelling. It's a major tourist attraction located at a sharp curved road side.
The waterfalls gushes down from a high mountain rock & after then the water from the falls cascades down further into a pool. To visit the actual fall, pay 20 rupees each for going up and near the mouth of the waterfalls.
Regretably the sight was not attractive enough view insufficient water on the fall.
There are some stalls of chat, maggie & tea on the stairs near to the waterfalls.

The most beautiful thing water can do in the arms of nature is falling from a cliff with majestic demeanour. A visit to this inexplicable grandeur is all you need to restore your faith in the power of nature, as this waterfall was untouched till the nineties and it is only recently that it has gained popularity as a major tourist attraction. Entry ticket Rs. 20/Person .

Kanchenjunga Falls. It is believed to be formed from the glacier of Kanchenjunga, the third highest peak in the world. From Peling, it takes about 2 hours to reach here through Darap Valley after seeing Rimbi Falls. It is best to visit here first thing in the morning if you go out for sightseeing in Peling.
20 rupees tickets per person and open from 8 am to 5 pm.
First, a long waterfall will be visible from the car, and from there, the real waterfall will fall after 100 steps along the steps on the right side.

Tranquil lake in forested surrounds, a popular pilgrimage site for Buddhists and Hindus.
Khecheopalri Lake is a holistic and one of the most sacred lake. The lake has become a pilgrimage among the people of this region. This lake is now a part of major Buddhist religious pilgrimage here which includes city of Yuksom. This lake is also called as wish fulfilling lake, that is how it is known as here. It is said that any wish that you may have will be fulfilled if you wish in the front of this serene lake. Because of its religious significance, the lake is a government protected one. One astonishing fact about this lake is the fact that you won’t find leaves in the lake. It is said that as soon as the leaves fall down in the lake they are cleaned by the birds.
Anytime except monsoon you can visit this holy lake. Only ₹20 per person is the entry fees. It is open from 6am to 6pm.

One of the most sacred lake in Sikkim. This is also known as wish fulfilling lake because as per local if one makes a wish while visiting the lake then that is granted. In order to get proper view of the lake one needs to climb up the hill almost 500 steps. On the way there is a cave known as Guru Rimpoche cave. It will take around 30minutes from lake to climb up to the view point. From there we can see the breathtaking beauty of the lake. Please carry water before moving to the view point.

Though the lake itself isn't much in itself the walk to the shore was pleasant. There is a cave above the lake. Some tourists or local people have balanced small rocks on top of each other. The entry ticket is 20 rupees per head. There is a fish pond where one can feed the fish.
pritesh chakraborty — Google review
Not worth all the hype. The place would be super crowded and to be honest, the lake is not that pretty. They have stopped allowing people to feed the fish or go anywhere near which is quite disappointing but the reasons can be well understood.
There is a viewpoint from where you can watch the lake from a height. But again, not worth the climb according to me. You can give this a skip if you have seen better lakes 😐

We visited this place in monsoon. Entry was not free. Near the entrance there is one small pool full of fish you can feed. After a few minutes of walking we got the glimpse of the sacred lake. But you cannot get near the lake however you can get the top view of the Khechuperi lake by doing a short hike. The hike is steep and you have to walk through the forest so wear a good shoe and socks to avoid leeches. But the view from the top is definitely worth it. So don't miss it.

I would suggest everyone who lives in West Bengal to atleast visit this place once in their lifetime. This place is indescribable and unbelievably BEAUTIFUL! ❤️ One of the best place I've been.
Very cheap, if you know the place and people. If you want to go by car, book Land rover car from the ticket counter. It will be very cheap for you. PLEASE don't allow the "Tour Guide" book the Hotels and Cars, they will charge double.
The Guide will Hotels are not available/cars etc... Just to fill up their pockets. Always book cars and hotels by yourself. Don't go for so called guides (dalals).

One of the most beautiful place I have ever visited. I was there in the month of February 2024. It was a bit off season and at night temperature was around -5 degree. Hotel sunrise is one of the choices for staying there. But when I stayed there , there was no electricity, so as usual there was no room heater or anything to keep us warm, so in that climate condition it was a bit difficult for all the travellers. Even glass windows were
frozen inside the room. But the very next day when we saw the clear sky and the beautiful sunrise , all our exhaustion had turned into joy and happiness.you can visit the place either by hiking or by car , you can reach to Manibhanjan from NJP , from Manibhanjan you can hire a guide if you want to reach the place by trekking,it’s a 4 days trek only for sandakphu , and if you want to cover Phalut , then it’s a 5 days trek. Another option is you can take the legendary Land Rover or Mahindra Marshal kind of jeeps to reach there. If the sky is clear then you can see the most mesmerising view of Kanchanjunga range. I am sharing some photos from my gallery. Keep travelling keep knowing the u know.

Sandakphu or Sandakpur (3636 m; 11,930 ft) is a mountain peak in the Singalila Ridge on the border between India and Nepal. It is the highest point of the ridge and of the state of West Bengal, India. The peak is located at the edge of the Singalila National Park and has a small village on the summit with a few hotels. Four of the five highest peaks in the world, Everest, Kangchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu can be seen from its summit. It also affords a pristine view of the entire Kangchenjunga Range. Sandakphu is also known as the land of poisonous flowers.
The trek along the Singalila Ridge to Sandakphu and Phalut is one of the most popular in the Eastern Himalayas, owing not only to the stupendous vistas of the Kangchenjunga and Everest ranges which it affords, but also to its seasonal wildflowers and opportunities for birdwatching. Treks begin at Manebhanjan which is 28 km (approx. 1 hour by road) from Darjeeling.
The western part of Sandakphu peak is located in Sandakpur rural municipality (ward no. 2 & 4) of Ilam District of Province No. 1.
The trekking starts from Ilam Bazar via Maipokhari, Maimajhuwa, Mabu, Kala Pokhri Bikhe Bhyanjyang to Sandakpur, and also from Ilam Bazar via Sulubung, Jamuna, Hangetham (a special area for birds such as the spiny babbler and blue tit), Piple, Kalipokhari, Bikhe Vanjyang to Sandakpur. On this trekking route, Jamuna is most valuable for trekkers. There are many beautiful places like Dhap Pokhari, Choyatar (special area for red pandas). There is a three jungle Hile Samudayik Ban, Choyatar Samudayik Ban, Hangetham Samudayik Ban.

We visited there in April. Don't think this is a hill station like Darjeeling, if weather isn't in favor this could be a bit dangerous. In case of snow fall you might have to walk for 4kms or more to reach the hotels and the road is really steep. I personally would not recommend for elderly person or who are not physically fit.
Didn't get view of the mountains because of the snowfall. But that view also have it's own beauty. Though we had some bitter experience with the hotel and driver, we will go there again, just because of the beautiful view. If weather in favor, should also visit Falut.
Some points I think everyone should know highlighted below
Pros :
1. From manebhanjan to sandakphu, the whole route have great scenic beauty.
2. Must visit the monestry, tumling, kalipokhri etc points...they have different vibes..
3. Heavenly view of Sleeping Buddha, Mt. Everest and other snow capped peaks.
Cons :
1. Unpredictable weather. Be prepared for rain or snowfall..It's better to use waterproof trekking shows, pants, jackets.
2. Mobile networks will not be available after some point.
3. Its a bit remote area, so carry things like medicine, water with you. Here some people might have mild breathing problem at night..so keep necessary things with you.
4. Lastly, we have met some good people there who helped us, but there are people because of whom we suffered a bit and refused to help at all. So keep in mind you are on your own

You can stay here in the new lodging or the old one. All stays include 3 meals. I believe for a private room (for a couple) is 3,500 rupees, and for a single person in a shared dorm
Is 1,500. Dinner is simple, filling and interesting.

Very peaceful place and monastery located near Kavrebhanjyang. If you seek peaceful day, rhis place is the one away from the hustle bustle of the city.
Once you're here dont miss going above the monastery to the temple where the view is super. Picturesque location. Private vehicle goes upto the place itself so you don't even have to walk.
Best entry point is via Kabhrebhanjyang and you can go to Panauti from this place easily.

The power of Asia’s largest Tibetan stupa cannot be denied. Come in the evening and join the throngs circling its base under its watchful Buddha eyes. This is an absolute must visit in Kathmandu and for anyone remotely interested in Tibetan Buddhism. There are crowds and shops to be sure but enduring these are a small price for a witnessing a cultural icon of this quality.

The shrine's vibrant colors and captivating Buddha eyes are a sight to behold. Locals frequent the temple for prayer, meditation, or blessings. The unique circular structure with its inner and outer sections is fascinating to observe, particularly the monks chanting mantras as they walk in a clockwise direction. Do spin the prayer wheel when you visit, blessings may come in any form, and also it's just so much fun to do 🥰

It's crowded most of the time and finding the parking is a bit different so, care about it while visiting with 2 or 4 wheeler in spite of parking is available 30m ahead the main entrance gate in a rate Rs. 25 per hour.
Pashupatinath Temple, a sacred Hindu site and cremation ground located on the riverbank, has a rich history dating back to the 5th century. Rebuilt in the 15th and 17th centuries, it features exquisite artwork and an impressive complex with as many as 492 temples. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and boasts a dual roof made of gold and copper, along with intricately carved wooden rafters.
This is a beautiful temple and we are blessed to be able to witness and so freely stroll it. Recommend that people do not take advantage of this privilege, however. What a great temple! Loved it here with all the dynamics!
When we purchased the tickets at the locket, there was a guide pretending to explain us about the rules and regulations. He tried to show us around but he never mentioned about his fee. When we asked him about his service, he finally said $15. We didn’t want to use any guide so we said no.
It would be better if the guide didn’t pretend and just ask.
Apart from that, it was a very interesting place to be. Where you can watch live cremation there.

I love this ancient temple complex with its richness in history. The temple is huge, consisting of the Life and Death area for worship.
You'll find the cremation area by the Bhagmati River, a hospice care near the main temple, and some Sadhu (Hindu monks) houses by the cliff.
There are also 11 identical stupas housing 11 Shiva Lingga, with such precision that you can see the whole 11 Lingga from one angle.
You will see some Hindu Monks chilling in the temple, and be aware that they're asking for money if you want to take pictures with them.

A Buddhist Temple complex on the top of the hill overlooking the city of Kathmandu. It will take you some hiking to get there, but it is very well worth the effort. The view of the city is very nice from up there and the temple is very interesting to see. Consider that it is not very clean there, but the experience is fine.

Marvelous temple sitting on a hilltop, but dirty beyond imagination. It's a very crowded place as lots of people visit it. But there are hundreds of monkeys, then stray dogs. The monkeys jump all around, appears as though they have taken over the temple. It appears the place has not been cleaned up in ages. It's very sad to see such a wonderful monument being so neglected and left to deteriorate.

One of the historic places of Nepal and a pilgrimage for Buddhists. It is located on the Swayambhunath on the top of the hill. It is also known as monkey temples. Many visitors visit this place everyday and enjoy being there.
Be careful with the monkeys as they snatch foods from the visitors and can also cause some incidents.

A hilltop temple with wide city views, so a relatively steep, long walk up the staits. A busy temple with a lot to see: stupas, many prayer idols, souvenir stalls, bells, monkeys and ceremonies. Definitely worth the 200 entry fee for foreigners.

Also known as the Monkey Temple, this religious site is located on a hill not far from Kathmandu and on a clear day you can a really nice view of the valley. Unfortunately we went during winter and it was dry and hazy so all we got was a hazy view.
Monkeys roam the area and surprisingly they are very well behaved, probably because they are cared for by temple staff who treats them as holy monkeys.

A must visit if you're in Kathmandu. Such a beautiful complex nestled on top of a hill with an amazing view towards the entire city. A lot of different shrines in the area, both for Buddhist and Hindu.
The locals also call this temple as Monkey Temple, because you'll find a lot of monkeys around the area, and they're so cute, especially the babies 🥺🥺
They're not aggressive but don't provoke them and don't feed them outside food. I guess the temple management has special food for them.

It was approximately 3km walk from Kathmandu Thamel. It’s a beautiful Hindu temples and deities incorporated in a Buddhist site. Kathmandu city can be seen from here. FYI toilets here were FOC, do not pay money to 2 guys asking for money (see picture)

Considering that many temples in this city won't allow you in unless you're Hindu, this is definitely one of the best temples that will. $2 entrance fee gets you one of the best views of Kathmandu, and there are monkeys and dogs aplenty roaming around.
Watch out for the hustlers on the steps up to the hill, they'll tell you "50 for this necklace", until you agree and then they will say "I meant $50 USD". Aside from these scammers, a great little hike and spectacular views.

This temple has a lot of importance in Hindu Mythology. It is usually said by the locals that your wishes are fulfilled here. But you can take two way cable car ticket and can visit this temple. Or on the uphills there is also provision for stay, so you can take one way ticket and can stay there, complete the darshan and can come next day.

You have to take very crowded cable car to reach this Temple. After reaching this Temple we saw a VERY VERY VERY long queue to enter the Temple. We were told it would take several hours in queue.
Many people were waiting in queue with a goat. This was for sacrificing it.
We were not in a position to wait so long. So we said our prayers from outside only.
One interesting thing I noticed was the restaurants were selling flowers etc for offering prayers, at the sametime they were selling liquors also. Non- Veg food was freely available.

The most beautiful temple located on top of the hill.
The view from the hilltop is just heavenly and gives the divine feeling.
There is a positive aura around the temple.
There are cable cars which help in the transportation to reach the top.
Even though the price is bit costly for cable cars but the view is mesmerising.
A very good photogenic place.

The rope-way experience is amazing and the Cable car covers the distance of 3 KM in almost10 to 15 minutes. The Spectacular deep valleys and the terraced fields can be seen from the cable car.
Once we reach the top There was a very long queue for the darshan and it took 3 hours for us to complete the darshan. It was a great experiece. Manakamana Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati, an incarnation of Parvati.
Mana” means hearts and “Kamana” means wishes, therefore, Manakamana means the Goddess of heart’s wishes.
It is situated in the village of Manakamana in Gorkha District in Nepal.
This is a beautiful artistic two-storeyed pagoda-style temple of Goddess Durga.
How to reach Manakamana Temple?
In earlier times, the only way to reach the Manakamana temple was by a long strenuous trek for about three hours.
Now, there is a facility of a cable car. The cable car rides over the distance of 2.8 kilometres (1.7 mi) in 10 minutes more or less.
In my experience, the ride was for 10 to 15 minutes and it was indeed enjoyable. While I was in the cable car, I saw the mountains, farms, green pastures land and river. Scenes so surreal and worth watching.
Cost of Cable Car: There is different prices for Nepalese citizens and foreign. This means cost for cable car ride is little more for India tourists.
However, the Nepali currency is less expensive Indian rupee. So, no worries.
Safety is a concern while riding in Cable Car?
No. Not at all. Its safe and well ventilated. Cable car is airy and safe. The cable car system was imported from Austria and guarantees a hundred percent safety.
I felt all safe, enjoyed the beauty of nature on the way to Manakamana temple.
Timings of cable car:
The cable car usually operates during the daytime from 9 am to 5 pm.
How many people can sit in the cable car at a time?
The number of passengers per carrier is 6.
After you get out of Cable Car. You will need to walk for 1.5- 2kms. That way to the temple is full of stairs accompanied by shops selling Nepali jewellery, idols, show pieces, earrings, necklaces.
It was crowded when I visited and stood in the queue for almost 3 hours and then the queue started moving. You will get to see Monkeys all over. Beware of monkeys. Though, it was treat to watch them play and jump all around.
Blue sky views from Manakamana Temple was beautiful.

Mandir is unquestionable and belief, that’s what hours and hours of queue demonstrates. We stood 6 hours on our latest visit, and 3-4 hours is usual before you get to the inside of the devi darshan.
Management of this temple, however, needs to seriously rethink about cleaning the temple premises- stray dogs, garbage, trash, blood, and total queue mismanagement. Their donation boxes are full of cash, my kid couldn’t figure out how to drop cash into the boxes. Looking at it, management should stay alert!

The Elephant Breeding Center is a family-friendly wildlife refuge where visitors can observe elephants of all ages and learn about their care and feeding. The center has recently been upgraded with a large bridge that allows for easy crossing of the river. While there are many elephants to see, it's important to note that this is primarily a breeding and training center. Visitors must pay NRs 50 for admission and can observe mother and child elephants as well as an adult elephant's skull.
Very cute little elephants roaming free is the best view. Lots of elephants here. This place has upgraded since the last time with a huge bridge that's just across the river which else had to be crossed on a canoe made of tree hollowed out. It's a nice place to meet nature but. Elephants that are bred here are called ‘working elephants’ which means they will be used for breeding, elephant rides, elephants safaris, for various other work their entire lives. When I was taken I saw many animals rocking back and forth which is a sign of stress and depression in elephants.
There is a room which explains how the spirit of baby elephants are broken to make sure they are obedient to the mahouts. That’s not how these gentle giants should be living their lives.
Please don’t support animal cruelty. Nepal has stunning mountains and beautiful people, visit and enjoy those attractions but not this place where elephants are chained and used for work.

This is a pretty sad place to visit. No one in Nepal will be honest to tourists especially about animal cruelty. Ironic when elephants are considered a god, but one religion that is the most important to our guide is ‘tourism’ and that is the only reason this EBC is operating. To breed elephants that will continue to work and safari and bring in the tourists money.
I was excited as I thought a breeding centre meant they were breeding them for the wild… this is not the case. They are bred into captivity. Born a slave. Die a slave. 😢 we need to stop this sort of animal abuse.

Worth to visit if you go to the park and safari as well but don't expect much. It's more like a parking lot for elephants than a breeding center. Chitwan national park is very famous & popular site for international as well as domestic tourists. It has been listed in UNESCO world heritage site. A lot of hotels & tourist facilities are at small town called Sauraha at northern bank of Rapti river. View of Sunset from the River bank is amazing. In evening Tharu (local ethnic people) Cultural Show is shown at nearby hall in Sauraha. They offer about 4 hours of jeep safari in jungle south of Rapti river, about an hour of elephant safari in western community forest & about an hour of wooden boat (canoe) riding on eastern river. Elephant safari is most popular & shouldn't miss. If lucky you may see one horned rhino easily. Elephant breeding center is also a good visit. Recently umbrella street is getting popular & you may see a lot of people taking photos & selfies.

Better you take elephant ride rather then jeep safari as you won’t be able to enjoy much in jeep and feel natural experience of going inside the biggest natural park.
Also make early morning ride as it would be cool weather and you won’t be exhausted.
Elephant rider was very good and young but most of them hardly speaks English.

Somewhat disappointed in our visit to Chitwan National Park. The Elephant Breeding Centre was questionable in their purpose for breeding and general practices. All females and young chained up for a good part of the day while one bull Elephant visited when he was in the mood. The dugout canoe ride down “Crocodile River” was good. The guide who is serving during jungle walk is much better. But I feel because we negotiate the price , so guide doesn’t really want to make efforts anymore.
So this is the touristic place thing. Except that the national park is nice to walk, and canoeing a is beautiful experience as well.

For wildlife photographers this place can be the best choice ever.

Chitwan National Park is a haven for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. For me, it's a place where every rustle in the foliage holds the promise of an encounter with the wild.
The park's lush landscapes, home to majestic Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinoceroses, and a multitude of bird species, make every safari a thrilling adventure.
The sights and sounds within this UNESCO World Heritage site paint a vivid canvas of Mother Nature at her finest, leaving indelible memories and a profound appreciation for the untamed beauty of our planet.
