Wonderful location that has tons of food options and a beautiful beach. Fun vibe in this area, and they had a full moon party last night. Everyone was so friendly, and I ate at some delicious BBQ place but couldn't really find it on maps. So I'll include the pic and food we got. The house pickled hot sauce was everything, and my mouth watered thinking about it again. It's such a great fay. Remember, if you get a beach chair, there's a fee, but no one really tells you that when you get seated at them!

Great beach. The sands are very clean, nice people around, amazing views. Lots of tourists, many gift shops (mostly clothes and simple souvenirs) and some food options (not great as you would expect on a beach, but ok if you're not picky). Overall, another beautiful Caribbean island to visit.

The shops are typical touristy shops. Lots of duty free shops and Cuban cigars are easy to find (if that is your thing). The jewel for us was the beach. We paid $20 for two chairs and an umbrella for the day. We enjoyed a day of beautiful sand and warm water.

Stunning beach with a lively boardwalk. Plenty of sunbeds for rent with friendly vendors. The sea was lovely and warm, clear and clean. I enjoyed a really good quality massage from Queenie, who was charming and really knows how to do a great message on your lounger for a very good price.

Great Bay Beach on the island of ST Maarten. Walked over to this beach, as its very close to the cruise port. As pictured, the views are stunning from this beach, incredibly calm waters. Postcard picturesque.

Loved the strip along the island. It was beautiful and the people friendly.

The water was nice and cold. We booked a tour, so we had the water taxi and beach chairs and umbrellas included. I saw many signs offering 2 chairs with umbrella and four drinks for rent at the cost of $25. Round trip water taxi was like $7 per person. If someone opted not to do the cruise tour, they could spend $40. There’s plenty of bars and restaurants. Water bottles on the water taxi was $1. Beer was 2 for $5. I bought a couple of postcards (I send a lovely lady a postcard after my travels). The postcards were $1 each. The most I have ever spent on a small postcard. I found Great Bay beach to be a tourist attraction/trap. I would much rather go where the locals hang out. I do understand tourism is one of the islands main source of income. Go visit and support our neighbors across the Atlantic Ocean.

Super crowded on the beach. Vendors are allowed to walk up to your chair and some did not like when you said no thanks. The menus attached to the chairs had inaccurate prices. The water was nice but had some type of seaweed that would wrap around your feet. A couple of stray dogs hanging out but they didn't bother anyone.

You can walk from your cruise 🚢 ship in our case p&o arvia in 15⌚20 mins to the beach ⛱️ and a sunbeds along with a small drop into a safe warm sea, loads of bars 🍺🍹 along the front also selling food, in our case we used Thirsty pirate 🏴‍☠️ for our Rum punches absolutely the best by far of any of the rum punches we tested in all of the Caribbean islands we visited, round the back are the shops clothes and jewellers shops 💍.

Fun beach near cruise Port and lots of restaurants and shopping. Miguel our beach attendant kept the refreshments plenty and our comfort top notch.

Incredible beach. Sand is soft. Plenty of seashells to collect if that's your thing. Water is warm! Loved it. Beach chairs were reasonably priced. We got 2 for $10 along with buying a $4 coconut water.

So nice Beach to sit and relax, the bay it sits on is a little salty, and the water was not as clear as I hoped to snorkel. So it is easy to get there if you don't want to do a shore excursions, off the pier in the shop area is a water taxi stand, 7 bucks gets you a round trip ticket. The water taxi stops at 2 piers in the bay, the first is a little less crowded o. The beach but the second is close to downtown and walking distance to shops, market, and food.

We picked up all the free gifts from the port after we docked and went ashore. We took the water taxi across for $7 each, all day return. When we walked off into the broad walk we were surrounded by people renting out loungers and umbrellas and we rented two for $25 with WiFi and 5 beers. There are loads of vendors on the beach who come up and ask you if you want a massage or try to sell their products but they’re not pushy. A simple “No thank you” and they leave you alone. We have yet to try the food but no complaints from me. Really relaxing and great atmosphere 😎🍹

This place really had it all..and then some. Just behind the Main Street is this amazing find for any Star Wars fan or any fan of sci-fi and moviemaking. Nick has created a unique collection of memorabilia from his life in the movies. Plan some time so you can enjoy all there is to see. Nick was there the day we went and offered his time graciously to answer any & all question and offered up some insights. He is a real treasure and lovely person. So glad to have meet him.

Waiting over a year until the ship was in port. I ran ashore to check out the exhibit and it was definitely worth the wait. The exhibit is great for all movie lovers, particularly Star Wars but also a lot more. A great collection of original pieces and items from a life time in TV and movies. I was like a kid in a sweet shop and that was only part of the experience. Listening to the stories from a vast and vivid career directly from the man himself, it was an honour and a pleasure. I've left with great memories, amazing souvenirs and a plan to return again when I'm back in port. I highly recommend a visit.

Great place. My retired-teacher step mom didn't know what she was in for and she wasn't thinking it was going to be much. She was won over by Nick's involvement in 60 some movies, his philosophy on life, and his support of children. Thank you Nick for a wonderful day.

Nick was fabulous and such a treat to meet and visit with. He is a gem!!! His contributions to film are legendary and simply outstanding, even beyond what I knew from science fiction movies like Star Wars. The museum is well worth the low fee of $15pp. My daughter and I spent around an hour reading, listening, and taking in all of the history and exhibits,of Nick’s works and those of his colleagues. There are also many other items/collectibles for purchase, including autographs. Funds support this not-for-profit organization. “Today Guy” Movie Exhibit was a one of a kind experience and completely made our day in Saint Maarten!

We did not know what to expect, but wow, was this experience cool!. Walking thru the museum was interesting, and the videos explaining what was going on during the creative process of different movies was great. The best part was talking to Nick Maley. He is a gracious host and will talk to you as long as you like and has so much to share. He makes the experience worth stopping by. Both my teenaged son's sat and lustened to his stories on video, and y 17 year old son was thrilled to get his picture with Nick! I recommend you stop in and say "hi" and take the time to walk thru. Cost is reasonable.

Amazing; Prior to my St Marteen port stop I had read about this place, so I decided to stop. WOW, I am a fan of science fiction and the Star Wars trilogy(4-6) but I never expected to see an amazing display of a variety of Science fiction characters, collections, pictures, film clips I could go on and on. This place is amazing, even if you are not a scifi fan you need to drop in and visit the museum, Very well laid out and the displays are awesome. The owners Nick and Gloria are wonderful people filled with knowledge. Defiantly will have to make a return trip.

A fantastic little museum, with an amazing collection of inspiring film props, designs, story boards, artefacts and memorobilia! There are one of a kind treasures here that you can find no where else! Nick and his wife are truly wonderful human beings, and this place is an absolute hidden gem! Not only is Nick a master of his craft, he seeks to inspire others with his gift and words of encouragement. This museum and shop is nothing short of a love letter to an era of imagination, ingenuity and creativity in film making that sadly is lacking these days due to digital effects. What also makes this museum so special, is that even if your not a big starwars fan, there is plenty here to capture your interest! This museum has a vast collection of "death masks" and casts of historical and famous figures! Some of the death masks I was not expecting at all, and completely wowed! There is a special magic with this place that I cannot describe, you just have to experience it. There were times where I couldn't help but feel emotional about how greatful I was that Nick is trying to preserve all this history of movie making magic, for future generations to enjoy. It's not just through displays of "items" it's through exclusive knowledge from those who helped create them that Nick has interviewed. As time goes on we lose more practical effects masters, prop makers and artists, and when we lose them, we lose their stories, their knowledge and their insights. Nick wants to preserve that, and runs this beautiful place as a non profit. So not only do you get to see amazing things, you get help preserve history and worthwhile cause. Thank you Nick for your time and patience, for my many, many questions!

What a great place to visit if you come to Sint Maarten. Didn’t know the place existing until we looked at a map to see how to walk to the beach. Nick and his wife run this place just to pay the bills. You can see neat little pieces of movie memorabilia. But the best part of it all is listening to the stories about their own experiences and life lessons. The kids loved it and wee engaged throughout the experience.

First and foremost I got to meet THE Yoda Guy himself Mr. Nick Maley who might be the sweetest man ever. Generous to a fault with his time and resources, he took the time to chat with me and share his numerous stories from his amazing career and life. The exhibit though small is packed full of memorabilia from Star Wars and several other movies. A true little gem on the island and I recommend a visit here and can't wait to see him many times again and see the new additions to his ever growing collection of movie history.

Tucked away upstairs on the iconic “front street”, you get to enjoy a quite the view just walking to the museum from the cruise terminal. This place is for the fans. I was on a time crunch so I did NOT get to enjoy it as much as I could have, much to my regret (but I will be back). Run by the man behind producing Yoda himself (as well as many other awesome films—which you find out as you navigate the museum), there is a free section in the front and a paid section in the back. Budget at least an hour so you can view each of the carefully made films the owner made for each category/ section of the industry he produced in. Not to be missed, but you can actually BUY original set scripts, and more at the end of the tour. Kid friendly, new-comer friendly—this place is for everyone. Take advantage of this stop while you are visiting St Maarten!

Truly an unforgettable experience for any movie buff and sci/fi fanatic. I never knew about this place, but after hearing about it from a friend I had to go. I have met my fair share of people good and bad, however meeting Nick Maley was a genuine experience. After all this time It's fair to expect someone tired of sharing their life experience, but Nick truly is a good man and a very interesting person to talk to. I don't know how he does it, but he is very patient and enthusiastic talking to everyone about his experience. The museum looks small, but the items are truly a gold mine. I probably spent at least 45 minutes looking at everything, wish I had more time. Surprisingly the private back room also contains a great collection of memorabilia and fan mail, which I will be looking forward to adding to soon. Let's not forget the rare items you can purchase, you will not find anything like this at his prices. I feel very fortunate that I was able to find something from one of my all time favorite films, wish I could purchase more. Thank you Nick for being an awesome Yoda Guy!

What an amazing experience for any Star Wars fan. We took a cab from the cruise port to Downtown St. Maarten to visit the exhibit. We were immediately greeted by Nick and and were in awe of the artwork as we entered. Walking through the exhibit with all of the Star Wars and Nick's other movie memorabilia was nostalgic. At the end of the exhibit, we spoke with Nick about his life and his work for at least 15 minutes and I also purchased his book The Do or Do Not Outlook. Thank you Nick, this truly was the highlight of our cruise.

The greatest shore experience we had five years ago and couldn't wait to return this year. There's no better way to experience the movies I grew up watching than to meet the man behind the scenes. He didn't only create Yoda as we know him today, but he's been a part of more movies than I expected. I strongly recommend going to see the man that did the designs and makeup for some of your favourite movies, but best of all, meet him in person and get to talk to him. The nicest guys you'll ever meet!!

This is an incredibly beautiful beach! Calm and warm waters surrounded by various shopping options. The urban part is not as charming (nor expensive) as Marigot, but it's totally worth it. Sint Maarten is a fantastic place that deserves to be visited and appreciated by everyone.

Staying at Belair Beach Hotel and this beach is wonderful. Soft powdery sand, not drops in footing as you go out in the water and the staff here maintains the beach beautifully! The beach at night is also amazing to watch

We rented umbrella and lounges at the Belair Beach Hotel after a super friendly warm welcome. This little stretch of beach was perfect for the day. So quiet and beautiful water. We visited the Gingerbread Cafe where the food is excellent. Both beach and Cafe are a must-do while visiting St Martin.

The kinda place when you look for some peace and quietness with clear waters. With free access to Divi resort with nice pool and restaurants and pool bar.

Exceptional beach, on my top 3 favourites in St. Martin. Very powdery sand, so on a windy day it can be a little annoying. The side of the Divi Little Bay resort is the best part of the beach to settle by. You can get access directly thru the resort, but you need to park outside. There's an onsite shop for rental of water equipment like paddle boards and things like that.

You are left on your own to walk around the grounds. They also didn't bother even giving the illusion that the animals were living in great conditions, with the animals swimming in their own fecal matter. However, my son (14 months) loved it, waved to ask the animals, and tried to talk to some.

The reason I'm excited about writing this review is b/c there was another women with her two children who was not happy with her experience. She arrived and left in about a quarter of our trip and spent half of that time with her children playing on the playground, shooing the male peacock away after they had spread crackers on the ground. She asked for a refund and was displeased about stepping in poo, (lol). Then was even less happy when I offered to pay for her. They didn't follow the path laid out and I could see that it was difficult for her to entertain her children (they were clearly not animal people). I hope this will be a helpful review for this zoo. Are you an "animal person"? Are you okay with a non-government funded facility? Are you okay with stepping around poop? Are you interested in interacting with animals vs. judging the state of the facility? I researched the reviews online, interested in taking my children (age 3 and 8) and wife on a morning stroll through the zoo (morning because I know that the animals are being fed and are usually more active). I was pleasantly surprised (most of the reviews I read were negative). My children are not "privileged" but we live near Washington DC, and the National Zoo is Free. If you need fancy, this is not it. But if you enjoy animals, it's fantastic! Example one: the monkeys held out their tale, when we touched it with our finger he clutched it and then threw his head backward, laughing. Example 2: the tortoises run wild, as do the Iguanas, and yes there may be some poo on the sidewalk, lol. I could go on but the facility was not big. We each kept track of our favorite animals and went back to visit them. If you're an animal person, you'll note that the monkeys and the Macaws remember you, especially if you interact with them. About a third of the facility was under construction, repair from the last hurricane (but what zoo isn't under construction?). There were three employees, more than likely all the facility can afford. The front desk man was an American. The caretakers were locals. I saw one of the local men preening one of the cockatoo's, not knowing he was being watched. The other caretaker watched us as we interacted with the animals, seemingly curious of our enthusiasm. The bathrooms were as clean as any on the island. Also, parking was not scary. To transverse the entire zoo it could take you as little as 20 minutes (following the signs and path that is laid out for you). My wife and kids and I were there for about two hours. We also didn't know that you get animal crackers to feed the animals. We came in after a bus and we didn't pay on the way in. On the way out I asked about it and I was happy to pay the 10US per adult and b/c of my honesty, the desk man didn't ask me to pay for my children. Thank you for reading and I hope your experience will be as pleasant as mine, but that is probably up to you!

Really enjoyed our visit today. It's only small but the animals are all rescued and it's funded by the visitors they get. The owner is lovely and really cares about the animals. I would highly recommend it to anybody visiting the island.

Fort Amsterdam is a site in the beginnings of restoration of a 1700’s port defense fort. An amazing piece of history but the restoration has a long way to go. This piece of history is now - and certainly when restoration makes it farther along - will be a telling piece of the sea battle history of the Caribbean.

To get here you need to walk through the Divi hotel (you need to leave the car before entrance). The fort itself had some interesting boards about the history of the place. Shame the place itself is not as well maintained, so everything is falling apart. Still the views of Philipsburg and Little Bay are really nice. You can also see pelicans here and their nesting ground so an additional plus for that.

This very well may have been our favorite part of Sint Maarten. No trip would be complete without coming here. The cliffs are breathtaking and the old Dutch forts and cannons really bring you back to a different time. One thing to note is that if you're not a guest at the nearby resort, you need to park your car outside the boom gate at the entrance of the resort. The parking there is wretched, so you can scratch your bumper or the bottom of your car if you're not careful. Choose a safe spot to park in. Otherwise, totally worth it and a nice opportunity to get some exercise, sunshine and history!

Free to view this old Fort with amazing views. Parking is a bit far away so make sure you wear comfortable shoes.

Honestly, the fort itself is not the highlight of this place, but the amazing ocean/cliff views, the magnifi sunset, and the pelicans' nests are. It's totally worth the visit.

Historical place to visit and read up on the timeline of colonization of the island. The access is through private property and you must leave your vehicle at the gate to walk through the property (a resort) and get to the fort, about a 5 minute walk. There are signs explaining what you see, which is not much considering the buildings have not been well preserved (compared to other historical sites in other countries). The view of the bay and ocean is absolutely amazing. There are a few chairs at the tip of the cliff where you can sit and rest. A great place to get some quiet time. If you go with small children, keep an eye on them and stay clear from the cliffs.

Not much to see as far as the fort goes, and you cannot park nearby since it is at the back end of a resort. The surrounding view is nice, however, and it's always fun to see Iguanas around.

Great place to see old historic items and learn more history of this fort. You will walk through a gate, and then up a slight hill to get to this place. There are several boards detailing the history of the different houses still at this for. Great place to see cannons and amazing views. Brings sunscreen, hat and some water.

A historical location of the old Dutch, Spanish, English held fort during colonial times. To get there you have to go through a resort, which may or may not allow you to park there. Once you walk through the resort, which is mostly uphill, you can walk around freely and check out what is left of the old fort structures and cannons. There are no tickets or cost to get in. It is rocky, so wear appropriate shoes. You may see some wildlife, like iguanas in the bushes, they are harmless. The whole thing probably takes 30 mins to check out plus walking time.

This lovely church is situated right on the boardwalk by the ocean. English Mass on Sundays is 8:30a.m. The parishioners were very welcoming and the music ministry had an island flavor. Come a bit early as the church was full. So glad we went to thank God for all the beauty of the island.

My wife and I renewed our wedding vows at Saint Martin of Tours in October 2018 while on a cruise. Fr. Adam was so easy to work with in getting the renewal set up for after the noon mass of the day we were in port. Many of the parishioners stayed for the ceremony and gave us their blessings afterwards. Such a beautiful church and wonderful community.

The community is very Catholic and welcoming. The Sunday mass in English is at 8:30am and in Spanish at 7:00pm. Although great, the church has no A/C, I recommend sitting next to a fan!

Went on vacations for the Sunday mass in spanish. I just felt like home. The brothers and sisters greet you and make you feel like you belong there. I had an excellent time of mass and prayer. Love it and will return if I ever return to St. Maarten on a Sunday. Thank you!

Beautiful church! Was so much happy to find this beautiful temple in the middle of the chaos all around this area..is so very extra peaceful inside. I do believe it was very well accommodated in this location, just to be able to breath and give thanks for the beauty of life and the place itself. This beautiful church is right in front of a very beautiful beach as well. Just that the most peace stays in the temple :) Loved being able to stay some time here, right before going back to the crazy routine of a much becoming normal day. Will definitely be back here once possible. It is a most needed time.

The Church is such a beautiful place! It is located in front of a Beach, and receives a lot of Visitors year in year out. The Parishioners are very friendly and welcoming. The Parish is very beautiful. I like that the whole Island is named after the Bishop of Tours. I like that the Church provides a relief to many travellers who may not have the privilege of attending Mass for so many days

Love history and since we'd never been here before, liked the presentation and historical pieces. No charge to enter but a donation bin. We gladly did a nice donation. Ladies we're very courteous and gave us directions to a local eatery.

It was so great to find a museum in Saint Martin to explain some of this history and culture of this amazing island. The museum is a little hard to find but call them and they will help you find it. I highly recommend it if you want to learn more about the island, culture and history. It is well run with lots of exhibits you can walk through and read at your own place. Great experience!

Well worth seeking out in an otherwise shopping obsessed town. If you are of British origin it is interesting to see another colonising country's (Dutch) view on colonisation/ slavery issues. Lots of interesting stuff here but the information about the Arawaks was particularly good.

The musuem had so much to see and the patron was so kind to share so much info about st maarten with us. Definitely recommend

A great little stop. Everything is upstairs and no elevator. The ladies were very friendly and helpful.

Stopped in this little gem this morning. It was truly our favorite stop in Philipsburg! We took the free (by donation) guided tour and had a wonderful time with our guide Jean Marc! We learned so much about this wonderful island and it's interesting history.

A really cool small hometown museum. Got to speak with the original curator and the apprentice taking over and they are both amazing! They have so much good information/history and I truly hope the government gets behind them to show support so St Maarten culture doesn't get lost in all the tourism and Americanism.

We visited here during our stay on the island, it was recommended by a local store owner. They have just opened relatively recently (February 2019) so they aren’t yet well known. Off season I am told they operate by request, so make sure to call ahead and schedule before you stop by. We had some difficulty finding it by car, google directed us to Bobby’s Marina ( wrong place). The best way to find this is to go to Chesterfields restaurant, they share a parking lot — “Reef It” is straight ahead when you pull in, near the pelican peak zip line building. The premise of this business is that they are helping to rebuild the reefs which were damaged during the Hurricane, and they offer guided snorkel tours as a by-product of these rebuilding efforts, which attract the various tropical fish to the area. The price was also reasonable and included snorkel gear and fins. Overall, definitely recommend this especially for thise who don’t have their own snorkeling equipment.

This building has been well taken care of over the years and the outside was completely redone several years ago. It is a vey historic sight and when ever you see it you think St Maarten

Beautifully decorated for NYE 2018/19

Nothing impressive for a place like St. Maarten . There is nothing interesting there apart from the nice beach view and a view of the cruise ships that you can get from every single bar or restaurant on the beach. St. Maarten is one of my favorite islands in the Caribbean but if you want the best views and restaurants you should take a 30-40 min trip away from Philipsburgh.

Nice open area with a fountain (not always on) and they sometimes have food and drink stand there and reggae. music playing quite loudly. Lacks seating.

OK beach. Not very big. Will have people trying to sell you things. You can rent chairs and umbrellas but you should haggle for the best price.

This square doubles as parking and is surrounded by anything you wanna visit in phillipsburg. Also connects to the main roads leading out of phillipsburg. Named after a St. Maarten stallworth.

Good DIY store for the island. Some items have regular price, where other items can be 5 to 10 the on-shore price.

I stop by Kooyman to pick up some quick needed tools. It was a nice big place everything was well organized and in place. It's my first time getting there, do I had to ask for help in finding the things I needed. The floor personal were so helpful and knowledge of where things was help me to be in and out in a minute. The service were so much better than the home Depot i go to here in NYC. Keep the good work up.

Great selection reasonable prices for the island

Great place for building supplies and all related to home improvements. Prices not too bad, staff could be a bit more friendly and helpful. Overall, not bad experience.
