Beautiful garden especially for cherry blossoms and autumn foliage, but they are don’t allow dog/pets. Also there was a huge line to get in, and not many benches along the main path in the park. They could definitely add more benches.

Beautiful Japanese garden near Komagome station. This place has both beautiful autumn foliage and beautiful cherry blossoms. At the peak of the fall colors, when I visited it was very crowded and there was a long line to enter the garden. But fortunately, I went to Toyo Bunko Museum before that and bought a joint pass for the park and museum. This joint pass allowed me faster entry to the park without having to wait in the long queue. There might be such passes available on many occasions so it is better to take the advantage of such joint pass in the busy season. For the lighter season or for weekdays it is a great escape from the city’s hustle and bustle and to soak yourself into fresh nature.

The attraction of Rikugien garden was the huge weeping cherry tree which was in full bloom and very beautiful. This is a typical Japanese garden. I have visited this garden during autumn and I loved it. The numerous maple trees turn the garden into one the best autumn colour spots in Tokyo.

The Rikugien Gardens were simply phenomenal. At first, we were disappointed because they day we scheduled to go was rainy, but when we got there, the rain had kept most of the crowds away, so we virtually had the entire place to ourselves. The rain added an extra calming effect to the exquisitely cultivated flora of the gardens. You are able to see a variety of trees, bushes, flowers, water features, and architecture. The admission price is very low considering how gorgeous the garden is. Highly recommend! Thank you to everyone who contributes to such a beautiful and peaceful place!

A awesome park with a great history and well planned design. Autumn 🍂 is at its best in Rikugien garden at Tokyo. A must visit place in enjoy the beautiful nature and to capture the reflection pics. The colorful trees and flowers are mesmerizing. The design of the park is astonishing with the bridges interconnecting the whole park. Red and golden maple 🍁 leaves 🍃 adds energy to the trip. Ginkgo trees are shining with the pretty yellow leaves. A special weeping Sakura tree is there in the entrance which is a must visit during a Sakura season. It’s a celebration for the eyes to visit Rikugien garden in all the seasons.

A beautiful garden located near Komagome Station. It can also be reached by Sugamo Station but is a good 10 -15 minute walk. The entrance is located at the south east corner. Gorgeous landscape with well maintained and manicured trees and plants. I would love to go back in Autumn and Spring to see the different colors. There is a place to buy souvenirs and a few food items. There is also a small tea shop where you can enjoy a cup of matcha while taking in all the beauty.

Went there during the sakura season. There was quite a long line so you better buy tickets online to enter the park fast and smoothly. The weeping cherry blossom was so mesmerizing. After that you can visit the zen gardens. It was relaxing and big.

One of the serene, paid, garden parks centralized on a lake, located in downtown Tokyo. In comparison to the Shinjuku National Garden, this one is slightly cheaper, slightly smaller, but likewise as lovely. I thoroughly enjoyed stopping at the cafe to enjoy a matcha and a snack, served as a set Be wary, there is really only one open entrance to the park, which is quite near the Eastern corner of the South East side of the square (search for the Main Gate).

Wonderful park to enjoy the scenery. Went in the morning so there were not as many people, which made the experience more serene. Small entrance fee. Make sure to spend time sitting and enjoying the architecture of the park and pond, it is very relaxing!

Unfortunately, sakura had just started blooming. We were too late to refund our tickets so might as well go right? These were taken on 3/24/24. It was raining that day, but there were still a good amount of people that showed up with umbrellas. There were cute tea houses. Perfect for a date and the light-up was really nice. There are other things to see like Matsu trees. They don’t offer a night-time showing normally so it was a real treat!

Wow!!! This is a very nice garden located near the Komegano Station at Tokyo. The entrance fee is just ¥300 for adults. It has a nice view of the lake, benches and some small tea house and flyinv pigeons around. Its a big garden actually and you can ask them for a map to go around. Nice view for autumn season and spring as well.

It is a nice stadium that holds 55,000 and we went Saturday to see Maroon 5 for the first of their three shows! It was amazing. The crowds here are orderly and polite. Adam Levine was spot on and it was a great show. I felt special since I could sing along in English! Lockers are available for storing your personal items if wanted and it’s the cleanest stadium I have ever been to in my life!

Went with a friend to watch a Yomiuri Giants vs. Yokohama Dena Baystars game. Trying to find our seats based on the information on the ticket was exceptionally difficult for some reason but once we got situated, the game itself was nothing short of a spectacle with all of the sights (light shows and LED screens), sounds (loud fans from both teams cheering) and performances (both teams had cheer teams on the field between innings). Drink prices weren't horrendous for a sports venue like this, and it was neat to see the servers running up and down the stairs with draft beer or highball dispensers.

Came for the FFXIV fanfest. Such an incredible experience, being in the same place with so many warriors of lights and seeing the dome being decorated with FFXIV-related features including the Watcher! Location wise Tokyo Dome is very close to the subway station. Easy to find food within the dome and around too.

Our first baseball experience in Japan and it was amazing! The facility has air conditioning so we were grateful considering it was a rainy day! Japanese women scurry up and down the isles selling a variety draft beers, water, and sodas. There are several places to order food as well. We noticed that many spectators brought in their own food/snacks as well as drinks purchased outside Tokyo Dome. The only drinks not allowed are drinks that come in cans and glass bottles 😊

Great venue! Was visiting from US to see a Tokyo Giants baseball game! Great atmosphere. Good energy and cool to hear the chants. Easy access from train. Girls come often with beer on backpacks kegs, cannot comment on food as we ate prior! Cool experience and worth the visit. Bought tickets directly on Giants website

A great place to watch a game and there’s so much to do in the area. The Giants are always a solid team to watch. Bear in mind if you buy any food or drink it’s all cashless. The food I had was good and I had a great time. The seats were reasonably priced from where I sat. I sat in the upper deck and could still see the action well without binoculars. There are plenty of restrooms and the shops do close approximately 30 minutes to an hour before the game is over. There are TV’s in the lobby if you line up for food so you can catch the action, the lines can be long. Go catch a game sometime.

It's sure to be a bucket list experience! The Japanese sure can baseball! Excellent service and food throughout the park. Ordering in English was easy with the picture menus available. Easy access to restrooms. Park is a bit warm during the summer, so dress accordingly.

Very good choice to spend a sunny day , it's a beautiful area with lots of attractions, restaurants and many things going around , You don't need any entry fees ,so you can just go inside and enjoy walking around ( which is really interesting) , or simply choose what you wanna do and pay only for that , The water fountain is so cute , make sure to check the show hours when arriving

We saw KISS at Tokyo Dome on 30 Nov. It was a great show and the venue itself was clean and well organized with good access from a few train lines. We sat in the “excite” seats which were spacious and farther apart than others. The toilets were clean and not so crowded.

Indoors, comfortable and during a baseball game the atmosphere is incredible! Clean, comfortable and affordable. Went to a Giants game and it was so much better than any game I have been to in the states (America). Thank you to all the fans at the Tokyo Dome that day!

Had an easy time getting in and out during the concert of Coldplay. Quick tip: have a meal before the event vs buying food and drinks at the venue! The concessionaires didn't accept cash, and the cup holders can't hold the XL cups which makes it prone to spillage.

Tokyo Dome offered a fantastic event, but the seating was cramped, seemingly tailored for smaller individuals. On the bright side, they embraced cashless payments at food concessions, streamlining the process. A more inclusive approach to seating would enhance the overall experience.

Went for ts concert!! Best concert ever. Was very crowded but well organised. Totally worth it. Sound system was good. Tokyo dome is hugeee but the organised did a great job! Will definitely come again for other concerts. Worth the money spent, enjoyed every moment of it

Tokyo Dome was epic! It's a huge space with an incredible food court on the 1st floor of the stadium. Sooo many options available to eat or drink. I found the prices to be reasonable for a sporting event (700 yen for beers. Around 400-1000 yen for food depending on what you eat). The staff are nice and the crowd showed a lot of energy during the baseball game.

Wow now this was an amazing huge arena. The seats were well spaced as I am 6 ft tall and my knees did not hit the seat in front of me. The temperature was perfect as well as I was there for a concert. What I don’t understand is if you build a stadium holding 55,000 people why are there only 2 bathrooms on each level? Well I’m guessing only 2 bathrooms per floor I know AC the middle floor only has two. Other than that it was an amazing place. Can’t wait to see a baseball game there

Very nice park that seems tucked away from the city around it. The garden has several areas to enjoy, with each feeling somewhat unique from the others. The paths are not linear, so you can walk around for quite a while seeing new things. Even when trees and flowers aren't in bloom, the park is still beautiful and the structures are still interesting to learn about. There is a small fee to enter, with discounts for elderly and groups.

A lovely garden to stroll about, with lots of paths leading to quieter areas a bit away from the central pond. This time of year brings us beautiful lotus flowers, but really any time of the year is a great time to visit. This and Kiyosumi are probably my two favorite gardens in what is roughly central Tokyo. Nice to stop once in awhile on one of the benches to allow previously unnoticed garden design nuances to come to you.

Special historic site with a beautiful serene manicured garden. The iris was in full bloom. It’s right next to the Tokyo Dome and all the attractions nearby, stop for a short visit. Entry was accessible via East or West Gate. See below pic for access info… There was a nice pathway leading to the West entrance only opens till 8pm but the hydrangeas are in full bloom.

Went here by mistake (looking for the Koishikawa botanical garden) but very pleased to visit. A particularly complete and well maintained noble's garden based on Chinese landscapes. Very beautiful, lots of shady paths to explore as well as lakeside views. Key stopping points well signed with interesting info. Tea pavilion but for lunch best to bring picnic.

Beautiful and spacious garden, very colourful during Autumn. Despite the rollercoasters nearby, the garden is calm and relaxing, such a marvelous area to find between the busy city.

My second visit to this huge Japanese-style garden in the middle of the heart of Tokyo, which is right behind the Tokyo Dome. This time it was a cherry blossom season and the flowers were beautiful. Please be aware that the cherry trees are only in the main entrance (the one close to the ponds). You can enjoy plum blossom in the spring.

Who knew that they had a Japanese garden right behind the Tokyo Dome. I had no idea it was there. It’s so close that you can hear the cheers from the Tokyo Dome. It is a very beautiful garden and it’s a nice break from the business and noise of Tokyo Dome City. It’s a nice place to relax and enjoy nature. I highly recommend it next time you’re in the area.

This is traditional Japanese park located in central Tokyo. The entrance fee cost 300jpy, but I think it is worthwhile to visit. Plum brossoms are lovely probably till later feb.

Relaxing place, punctuated by screaming roller coaster passengers. The place was great, modern, and clean. I see the effort in trying to make this an oasis in the middle of Tokyo. It is hard though to relax when every now and then the floor shakes and you hear screams from the roller coaster passengers. Food was good, there's a lot of healthy options and it wasn't super crowded even when we went on a holiday. There's also lots of different baths and saunas to choose from. The outdoor bath was great, if you try to ignore the screams. There's also many options to get a massage and a large lounge area to relax. The front desk is at the 6f and the elevator is from the 2nd floor only. We took some time trying to look for it, it's near Seijo Ishii supermarket. We went there because we found a coupon from benefit station. The default fee is a bit pricey, with additional holiday and midnight surcharges. We spent about 10k yen for a day, even with the coupon. We were there for about 10hrs from 12nn - 10pm, had 2 meals (lunch and dinner), and a 40 mins massage. It was still a great place to hang out for a long time.

Very relaxing! A must go when you wanna take a day off from the busy life routine. The price is a bit more expensive than traditional Japanese public bathhouse, but it worth it. There is stone sunna on the upper floor. Restaurant and cafe also available. Very recommendable. The interior is quite tropical island style, you can even hear birds’s sound inside. My friend and spent a whole day there. The total cost was about 7,500JPY, including stone sunna and 2 meals. The view was quite well from the restaurant and break room, from where you can see the roller coaster from the entertainment park.

Could not take photos inside. It is a wonderful place to have Onsen in Tokyo city. Importantly there is natural hot spring in this modern building. Great experience! And the dinning choices also good, even with a vietnam reatautent. Give yourself 3 hours to fully enjoy the place. Will come again!

I was looking forward to a visit at 07.00 Checked the hours online and at Google. Arrived at 07.00 to find it was closed. New covid hours 11am to 9pm. Grrrr

Nearly open time (11:00am ) It was hard to get the floor. We have to line for the lift which is only one going to the floor.(level 6) After enter the spa , there were so many stairs . 5th floor has some shops and restaurants . 6th floor has hot springs. 7th and 8th floor were bedrock bath . (Add 800yen to enter ) Except 6th floor has some massages salons as well . First , we had hot springs at level 6 After that change to bedrock bath cloths and went to 6 , 7th. Level 7 had small bar . We had some drinks at there and relaxing around there . It was not so busy . second visit at same floor , it was so crowded. Luckily , we could have massages and relax again . Also , we had some food at level 5 Seasonal set meal wasn’t our style but the tofu was amazing.

Spa LaQua at Tokyo Dome City. About 30 mins ride from Shibuya, the top 3 floors is an onsen while the ground floors are restaurants and a mini theme park with carousel and a water ride. Take the escalator from ground floor to Level 2, then the lift from Level 2 to Level 6. Take off your shoes right after exiting the lift, before stepping onto the carpeted area. Find yourself a shoe locker and hang on to the key after locking up your shoes. Enter the area and the reception will issue you a wristband to your assigned locker and a plastic stick which is for you to redeem your robe and towels. Photos are not allowed once you are inside the changing area. Got my robe (got choice of dress or 2-pc set) and towels, stripped and headed into the onsen. Not a very big one here but enough to spend 1.5 hrs. First, enter the shower area to clean up. Shampoo, Body Wash and Conditioner are all provided here and smells pretty nice actually, I like it. Then you are ready to soak in the spring water. They've got 1 cold pool, 2 hot pools and 1 foot bath corner plus 2 more hot pools outdoors. I started with the foot bath which was badly needed for my poor feet and knee. What a soothing experience, sitting on a marble slab with your feet in hot water, taking away the pain and soreness. Moved on to the big pools indoors before heading out, which was perfect for this weather. The whole time I was here, the weather was hotter than I expected, didn't get to enjoy the chill until the last day. This is the sort of weather perfect for onsen. The first moments stepping out from the indoor section to outdoor was freaking cold, especially with the wind. But the moment you are in the water, it's pure bliss. Dipped for a while got inside then came outside again, back and forth for a good 1.5 hrs. They've got these deck chairs outdoors too which made good cool-off areas after soaking for too long. Then you sit until you feel cold and back in the pool you go. I can truly understand why people love onsen. So relaxing, and because there's nothing else to distract you (no phones, no tablets, no men haha), you have all these time to yourself, to relax, to meditate, to reflect, to find yourself, undisturbed. Don't need to care who's watching (no one really) and just be yourself. As I went on a weekend, it was more expensive at almost SGD$40.

This place was amazing and very relaxing. Be sure to get the Tokyo Dome point app for a discount. Keep in mind it’s more expensive on weekends and holidays and there’s also a late night charge. As far as the experience itself: They give you a wristband that opens your locker, and saves all of the charges you accumulate while there. (Cash will not be exchanged) They will also give you towels, and two outfits. One outfit is for the hot spring floor. The other is for the relaxation floors. They won’t let you go to the relaxation floor without the proper outfit on! (7-9)The 6th floor has several hot spring both indoors and outdoors and it also has chairs for breaks. The relaxation floors are co-ed. There’s water but you can’t get in it. There are several restaurants and a bar spread out across the three floors as well as lounge chairs indoors and outdoors. They also have some hot stones to lay on.(50 degrees Celsius I believe) A great view and it’s a nice break from the noise, however while in the hot spring you can hear people score on the roller coaster. There’s no time limit so you can spend all day there and go between the floors. Worth trying at least once, a weekday is my recommendation though.

The shrine is beautifully maintained and surrounded by lush greenery, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. One of the highlights of the shrine is the stunning architecture, with traditional buildings and intricate wooden carvings that are simply breathtaking. The shrine also features a beautiful tea house and several traditional gardens, including a tranquil pond surrounded by ornate bridges and lanterns. Visitors to the shrine can also take part in traditional Shinto ceremonies and offerings, making it a unique cultural experience.

Nezu Shrine is famous for the Azaleas . During mid April to early May hundred’s Azaleas tree with round shapes created a magnificent landscape. It is must see in Azaleas season . And I know why Azaleas is the representative flower for bunkyo ward.

Nezu Shrine is set in lush greenery, with ponds of carp, pathways that are tunnels of small shrine arches, and elegant, beautifully colored, wooden structures that reflect Japanese culture in all its age and beauty.

On a very beautiful sunny day, I went to a very beautiful shrine. I met a beautiful angel with blue pants and a white shirt. Everything was so quiet, peaceful. Highly recommended.

Went on one of the busiest days of the year for that place: a Sunday in spring, in the middle of the flower's bloom and the gardens are full of people. However, I must acknowledge that the place is very nice and no matter the season looks good to take a walk around there. If you want to roam the gardens you must do a long line and pay 300 yen, but in my opinion, you can watch them entirely from outside, from the temple grounds.

It's the first proper shrine I've visited and I was not disappointed. Unfortunately, I didn't see the bloom but the greenery was a nice respite from the concrete desert nontheless. Also the first mosquito bites I've gotten in Tokyo. I stood in the wrong spot for 2 min and my legs got absolute annihilated. People were very respectful and patient with others prayers. The procedure for a prayer is to throw a coin or more into the box, bow twice, clap twice, say your prayer, and bow again. Also make sure to bow when entering the inner part and leaving the shrine. They've got fortunes for 100¥ and I was lucky to get a good one. It says my fortune for travelling is favourable and that my lawsuit will succeed if I don't ask for too much. Now I just need to find someone to sue.

We visited at the time when it was no blooming with flowers inside as out of season. Good they posted a notice there at the entrance for visitors not to spend money. We enjoyed walking around the photogenic place and explored the local food around the stalls. Good place to visit in the season by found it very peaceful through it was little crowded.

A mid-sized shrine in a nice garden area. It is generally pretty quiet and is nice to visit in different seasons as the gardens blossom and change over the year. One of the Tokyo 10 Jinja, so worthwhile visiting if you want a good example of what a shrine should be while avoiding the more overly touristy big shrines.

Excellent Shinto Shrine in Tokyo. Easy to get to. Lots of people visiting. Definitely a place to visit on a visit to Tokyo.

Their azalea festival was fantastic and I’d recommend it to anyone. We went when it was quite rainy which made for mud-covered shoes but less of a crowd. Only ¥300 to get into the azalea area is a steal compared to some other flower festivals. It took about an hour to see the whole thing and take a few pictures. The only thing that was a bit disappointing is none of the food stalls were open, presumably because of the rain.

Beautiful shrine that is on a complex with a red Tori walkway and gorgeous azalea garden. The azaleas bloom in April but the shrine is great to visit any time of the year. There is over 3000 azalea bushes in bloom.

Peaceful place, no tickets required. A bit far away, but easily found via public transport. Not too crowded. If you're lucky you can witness wedding photo shoots with traditional japanese wedding attire. You can see old people painting the scenery. Carps can be seen in ponds all over the site. A trully blissfilull site.

One of my favourite places in Tokyo, just outside the more common tourist routes. In this local temple, you can quietly enjoy the spirituality of nature and the beautiful ambience of the red Torii gates. During spring, the garden of azaleas blossom in a wonderful sight.

I had seen the shrine on a YouTube video The person that did the video said it was a quieter spot to see the quintessential Tori gate experience. I was not disappointed it was not easy to get to it's not close to a major Metro line but there is an 8-minute walk one of the subways. The shrine is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood and makes a great getaway I would recommend visiting here.

This place is famous for its Azalea Festival (Tsutsuji Matsuri) which is held on its grounds from early April until early May. It is one of the city's most spectacular spring scenes.

Overlooked by most tourists, this is one of the most beautiful shrines in Tokyo. Plenty of local people visit, without being crowded. Tucked away behind Nezu’s busy avenue.

Went here after continuing our walk from Ueno Park. The environment is cozy. I saw many universities student hanging around the plaza area as well. As I walked around from East side to West side, I realized how comfortable this area is. When we visited, the only gate that is opened on the West side is the main entrance. The signage is a bit confusing, but you can follow the trace for big ginko tree if you're searching for the main entrance as it's lining up beautifully.

A beautiful place in the middle of Tokyo. Easy access by train. You can find a lot of restaurants and stores inside the University. Depends on the season, you may come across a stunning trees. A must visit place!

Definitely best place to experience beautiful Autumn in Tokyo. Many old buildings with parallel Ginkgo trees. Free entrance. Keep quiet due to many library and teaching rooms near pix locations.

Really recommend the ginkgo avenue at the entrance of the university. Near the shop (coop) there's this hidden pond, and i think it's really good to go there as well. It's kind of Tokyo's hidden gem tho! Really loves the architecture of the building as well. They have halal meal on their cafetaria.

Glad I visited this place. It was awesome especially on a Sunday morning when there was hardly anyone. I went to the following places: Statue of Hachiko and his master, Yasuda auditorium, Sanshiro Pond, Daiwa ubiquitous computing research building and Akamon.

The highest ranked University in Japan, founded 150 years ago. The campus is opened to the public where you are take a walk while enjoying the beauty of historic buildings and nature there. The nearest station is Todaimae which means ''in front of Tokyo Uni''. How intesting it is. The best season to visit Todai is definitely Fall. I was lucky to capture a photo of a huge Ginkgo tree as per attachment.

This is my university, I spend 4 years here. One of the best university in the world. The beauty of campus is amazing, therefore in fall; lots of people visit the campus. Best place to shoot autumn vibe photos for social media. Moreover you can feel the vibes from my posted photos. Both Adult and kids will enjoy the place.

While in the Ueno Park area you can take walk for a peak at some of the old buildings of University of Tokyo, first Imperial University and the most prestigious in Japan. Access on the University grounds is allowed even when there are no students. The place looked deserted but I can imagine how it is with students around. Even though it was a rainy afternoon, visiting the University of Tokyo was a pleasant experience

The University got museum, parks and good souvenier shop. The place also good for taking pictures whilst taking kids to motivate them to further study here.

I went here to see the hachiko reunited statue. That was such a beautiful thing 🥹. The university looked amazing too. I feel like I'm in another country. the architecture and all the trees 🫰

Very nice campus with well maintained historical buildings and neatly manicured landscape. We went in the last week of November and caught the right season when Ginkgo trees turn into a sea of yellow! Would be a dream to study here.

We had a lovely time at the Le Jardin restaurant. It was very relaxing and the view of the garden was fabulous. I highly recommend the sandwich assortment lunch. The teas came in pot service and there were free refills. The only thing that marred our stay was the tobacco smoke in the main lobby and near the taxi stand. The air was almost gray outside with all the wedding guests smoking at once! I hope the hotel takes steps to prevent the smoke from entering common spaces. Right now, the smoking area is located near the entrance and marked out with only with a short fence. I'd recommend a container style area - this will help make sure the smoke does not disturb the serene atmosphere of the hotel.

Not nearby public transportation, you will need to take a taxi to get to the nearby metro stations. The hotel is fairly inclusive, great restaurants, garden and amenities. Take advantage of the concierge to ask about good nearby restaurants.

The room was well appointed, the staff was friendly, and the garden was beautiful. My only complaint is that it’s a 10 to 15 minute walk uphill from the nearest transit station. One of the walking routes takes you up a bunch of stairs and by the time you get there it’s too late to take the other route. So taking bags uphill from the airport was NOT fun.

Amazing establishment with even better service. The garden was beautiful especially lit up at night and with the mist. The staff were incredibly accommodating with my dietary needs at the restaurant, and took it really seriously which was very appreciated. Definitely a high end price range, but it was a wonderful way to end our trip. **We used travel points to cover the cost, I’d recommend looking into that avenue**

This hotel is amazing. They have English speaking staff on hand and the gardens are breathtaking. It's easy to see why over 2000 weddings are held here a year. The food is extremely expensive though and next time I will be eating exclusively off the hotel grounds. However, they have one of the best long island ice teas.

An interesting place, great for meetings and conferences. It has two wings/towers - the hotel building and the banquet building. It has some very authentic Japanese restaurants. The highlight is a Japanese garden with mist/fog and beautiful walking tracks. Great for weddings and special photo shoots.

The ambience triumphs all else. It'd be difficult to find a place in Tokyo with such a beautiful garden. It makes for a perfect stroll after a nice warm onsen in winter. The rooms are a touch dated, but well maintained.

Ms. Miyajima at the front desk was wonderful. Through small talk she learned that the garden was on my bucket list. She ensured my room had a spectacular view! She also made dinner recommendations and handled my reservation. Service, gardens, food all 10/10. Will return!

This hotel was superb from start to finish: excellent restaurants, sublime service, and a beautiful park setting. I stayed here for 10 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The building and grounds are all very beautiful. It was so pleasant to walk the halls and the gardens. The timed release of fog into the gardens is very impressive whether you view it from the hotel or you are in the garden when it happens - great for photos. I have to add that the staff were excellent. There were also lots of staff available too. There were never any long waits for tables, and I was able to talk to front desk staff or the concierge whenever I needed something. There were always taxis available.

Chinzanso is one of the best boutique hotels in Tokyo. It's located within a Japanese Garden that periodically gets flooded with mist, adding an ethereal feeling to walking the grounds and offering a unique stay like no other. While there aren't trains in the immediate area which can be a bit inconvenient, the location is still great and getting to trains isn't a terrible walk. They have several fantastic Japanese and non-Japanese restaurants on the grounds and are also used for things like weddings/banquets, so you may see some local celebrations as well. Would definitely recommend staying if given the opportunity.

This hotel is one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure to stay at. The staff’s cheerfulness, professionalism and kindness was outstanding. The hotel room was very spacious, immaculate and the view over the city was spectacular. The Japanese garden surrounding the hotel was calming, interesting and a charming addition to the hotel’s splendour. The gym was well-equipped and modern and it was never crowded. Minami (Concierge) was wonderfully knowledgeable and helpful - really fantastic. It is easy to take a short & pleasant walk down the hill to the subway (Edogawabashi Station), where you can buy a daily train pass at minimal cost – getting around the entire city is seamless. This beautiful hotel is highly recommended - its uniqueness will compliment any stay in Tokyo. Thank-you to all the staff for making this such a memorable stay.

I got a king sized bed on the top floor (14). When I was checking in, the outside was quite unimpressive. However, the inside was very classy and made up for it in full. It was quite luxurious and the staff was awesome. The concierge speaks fluent english so communicating was not an issue. The bus stop is 1 minute walk away but the train is a 8 minute trek downhill to Y12 station. I wish they had a service to take you to the station for the price of the hotel I am paying. Nevertheless, it was very good. The staff goes above and beyond. I called the concierge asking if the water from the tap was safe to drink. They told me yes and without me asking, the staff brought hot water to my room.

Very luxurious and comfortable hotel. The Garden is beautiful and the show with the fog is a cool feature. The Rooms are very spacious and very high quality. The Bathroom has a Bathtub and Shower and the Toilette has a separate Room. The Location is quite far away from everything.

The staff is very helpful and accommodating here. The hotel’s garden is definitely the highlight of our stay. Location of hotel is not really convenient to metro stop as we have to walk a bit, so it is suitable more for transportation by cars and taxi.

Without a doubt, the finest hotel I've ever stayed in. Everything about Chinzanso is beautiful. The hotel and room were very clean, the staff were extremely nice, the garden was incredible, and the food was amazing. The room was also the most quiet place I've ever stayed in. We chose Hotel Chinzanso to stay in for our last three days in Tokyo and had a really beautiful experience. Although the location is a little bit far, we felt it was worth it for the garden. The service was great and we had an especially stellar experience this morning with a young man named Shohei who was working at the Bell Service desk. It was hectic as everyone was checking out at the same time, but he was extremely helpful and really made our stay memorable and inspired us to write this review. Thank you!

We stayed here for the last two nights of our honeymoon. The hotel itself was lovely and beautiful. The hotel staff were perfect, excellent service. The gardens were beautiful. I enjoyed the pool and hot tub, but it's unfortunate that it is an additional cost. But I was so disappointed with the service we received at their restaurant, Le Jardin. Part of why I booked this hotel, was I saw they had catered to vegans in the past. In my booking reservation, I made note one guest would be vegan. When I called about making a reservation for high tea, I asked if one could be made vegan, and they apologized and said no. I was disappointed, but understood. When I arrived at the hotel, I thought I would ask the restaurant staff about making a reservation for the next day, and asked if it could be made vegan. The staff told me yes, it could be vegan for two people. I was delighted and made a reservation for the next day. The next night, after we were seated, I asked again to check that the high tea would be vegan. After quite a wait, the staff came back and apologized, no, they could not make it vegan. They showed me another menu which did have some vegan options and I ordered from that. The service was terribly slow. I'm not sure if they had to bring the food from a different restaurant because it was vegan? I also had to ask the staff to clear the table of the dirty dishes. We then wanted to order dessert, and we asked for the vegan menu again. The staff told us, "no vegan menu", but they had already shown us one? Eventually, I was able to order a vegan dessert, and again, slow service and it was just very disappointing, especially after looking forward to it and it being our honeymoon and last night in Japan. Other than the restaurant situation, it was a lovely hotel and the best I've ever stayed in. I was honestly shocked by the restaurant service and it brought me to tears. I saw other guests getting much quicker service, but they were getting the traditional high tea.

Beautiful and clean hotel. Our suite was next to a staff elevator and unfortunately it was too noisy, so we asked for a different suite, and were offered one with garden view. The garden itself is absolutely stunning, and peaceful to walk through. Though, originally we wanted the city view, the garden view had its own perks. We enjoyed our stay here, and appreciate the quick and helpful approach of the staff.

I walked to this temple from Ochanomizu Station (Yushima Station is even closer), and it was a wonderful experience. I loved the nearby neighbourhood, which is quiet and low key (not that toursitic), but full of small and old cafes and restaurants. The temple itself is wonderfully compact, with different buildings and a pond with a bridge. I love that this temple is just in the middle of a residential neighbourhood.

Took the kids to this shrine to pray for their success in school and academics. This shrine stands as one of Tokyo's oldest, nestled right in the heart of the bustling city. Surprisingly, there were many people there, likely drawn by the stunning plum blossoms blooming in mid-February.

Beautiful and modern temple! There are 3 variations of sakura blossoms here. The white ones are not quite in bloom yet. I think mid March would be a better time to view them. Definitely worth a visit.

Went for the plum blossom festival. Unfortunately it is not fully bloomed yet. A lot of streets stall is located and there is a plum wine stall. You can buy a cup or a couple of cups which have all types of plum wine they have and enjoy the plum blossom.

Love this place, especially during spring. Many beautiful cherry blossom trees. Entrance fee is free. Lots of locals coming here in day time to visit, pay respects and get-together.

I was at the temple " Yushima Tenjin Shrine " one day before their festival ( 祭 ), the whole place looked great. It was decorated by flags and lanterns . It was at the busy area close to Ueno ( 上野 ). It opened in 458 AD , has a long history and is a popular temple in the community. The buildings are all in good condition . Lots of souvenir, T-shirt and good luck charms for sale . It's famous in asking for blessings in study and getting good academic results. A nice shrine and worth to visit.

Went to see the plum blossoms in the shrine. Beautiful space and serene atmosphere. As we went on a weekend we could catch some festivities and food stalls. There was a pretty long wait for offering prayers at the shrine. I am told weekdays are less crowded. The place is about 10 -15 mins from Ueno Park.

It is often visited by nearby university students to ask for help with their education and tests. Even during the rainy/cloudy day I found a lot of students still visiting. If you do not know the significance of this shrine then it will seem like a normal shrine with no unique feature. But it was still a great first (and last) visit. Must visit if you are in the area or if you pass by it but i wouldn't recommend that you go out of your way (unless you really need help in your next exams).

It’s a small shrine but popular among especially students because they worship a god of learning. You’ll find many ema prayer wooden plaques. Write your wish if you’ll have an exam!

This ancient shrine was founded in 458 CE for the worship of the god Ameno-tajikaraono-mikoto. Then in 1355, it became one of many "Tenjin" shrines throughout Japan - the most famous being Kitano Tenmangu in Kyoto. Tenjin is the name of the deified spirit of the famous ninth century scholar Michizane Sugawara (845-903). Sugawara, a high government official, was originally deified in a placatory response to the natural disasters that hit the then capital, Kyoto, immediately after his death in what had been his politically motivated exile.

Just went, the blossoms are blooming on some of the trees. Very beautiful temple in a cozy area. Would recommend.

Big. Packed. Crowded. It's worth visiting at least once if you have any business as an academic; student, teacher, doctor or researcher. Is never quiet, though.

Well presented and peaceful shrine. We went during the plum festival so there was a lot going on but everyone was very friendly and helpful.

A good option for night photography as the lights are more distributed and not too bright individually. The gate might stay open for a while after closing time but it is not open 24/7. Not particularly remarkable but it is a nice medium-sized temple to visit if you're in the area.

It is kind of a god of knowledge and it is near the university of Tokyo. Japanese students aiming to enter better university usually enjoy praying here.

As of December, 2022. According to Bunkyo City's website. Part of the Bunkyo Civic Center Observation Lounge is still being used as COVID-19 vaccination site and the main hall is currently under renovation. It's scheduled to reopen in May 2023.

Staff is very nice and on second floor some speak little English or have a Google translate device. On floor where you take care of insurance I did not understand properly since my Japanese is not good, and the woman told me nobody there speaks English so they couldn't help me.

Awesome for free panoramic views on the 25th floor here. It's super spacious and peaceful. You can see Mt Fuji, Tokyo Tower, and other landmarks. A better place for views than Caretta Shiodome :) There's also a piano here that's free for visitors to play! Closes at 8.30PM.

No need to pay for a view from above to Tokyo. The 25th floor observatory is free and there is also a free drinking water tap. After you're done gazing at the beautiful city, don't forget to also take a picture of yourself.

The building itself is amazing. That’s why the 2 stars, it looks fairly new… I went to 3 different city halls to get the same form. All forms were pre prepared and correct according to the guide lines provided by each city hall. Koto ku 10 min Arakawa ku 15min with an extra check. Bunkyo ku come back the next day. The next day there is an error in the form??? 3 extra clarifications from a staff member who didn’t do their job properly in the first place. Before passing me to a very rude supervisor. 1hour later they say they are going to start processing the form. “Oh and I’m doing you a favor”. Building beautiful, staff typical “government officials”… not good at their job. Incompetent comes to mind…

This is the birthplace of modern education in Japan. In 1690, during the Edo period, Tsunayoshi Tokugawa, the 5th Shogun, built Yushima Seido. Tsunayoshi was devoted to Confucius, a Chinese saint.

This shrine is called Yushima Seido which is the shrine of confucius. In front of this shrine there is a road called Hongo street which was amazingly beautiful during autumn with 2 lines of ginkgo trees. The road lies between Yushima Seido and Tokyo Medical and Dental University. In a cool morning you can enjoy a peaceful walking along this street which definitely turns your mood on for a hard working day.

Confucian temple that is not too busy, as most tourists are across the street visiting Kanda Shrine. The temple looks nice from outside, but there is not much else to see than the exterior. Inside is a small room with artifact, be aware that there is an entrance fee for this room specifically. It's possible to see the gardens surrounding temple as well. There you can find a statue of Confucius.

I was visiting the shrine nearby and walked 3 more minutes here. I didn't go inside the temple area (feels weird to do so when its not part of my religion) but what an impressive looking place.

Nothing special Yushima Seido is a temple close to the train station Ochanomizu. In my opinion it is nothing special but I am only judging the looks.

Not a bad place to take in some history and culture in urban Tokyo. About 15-20 minute walk from Ikebukuro, or use the subway to get out right infront of it. It’s not as magnificent as places like Sensōji or places in Kamakura, but it’s a nice little “power spot” as they say here.

Magnificent cathedral. The place is a lot bigger than I expected. The design of the building looks simple yet eccentric - the design really reflects the architect's bold and decisive nature. This is also one of the few churches/cathedrals that is actually open to the public (most churches in japan appear to be privately managed, and more often than not is not available to public visits). The interior of the cathedral is surprisingly quite spartan in terms of deco and furnishes. It basically consists of a relatively sparse chancel in front of rows of simple pews (nave) and a large organ in a 2nd floor loft behind the nave. On the far sides of the chancel, stood sculptures of Mother Mary and Jesus Christ. I sat in the cathedral for a while, and could really experience a sense of peace and tranquility bathing in the light subtlety beaming through opaque panels arranged and built in the shape of a cross on the ceiling.

Beautiful and peaceful Cathedral. Maintained well and the architecture is also impressive. Photography is not allowed inside and its open for public from 9am to 5pm. Nice ambiance to sit and have a peaceful prayer. There is a souvenir shop near the church and the administrative office nearby. There is one underground chapel at this Cathedral where masses are conducted in Japanese. Rest rooms are also very clean and well maintained.

Described as one of the oldest and the largest cathedrals in Japan, the architectural design and atmosphere of this church derive from a legacy of devout men that served in what they believed in, atimes even when they were openly persecuted against ; many of these people have been honored on these grounds. There's easy accessibility and a vast array of departments with their own respective and important functions. I recommend a visit to this place by not just Catholics/Christians but all with an interest for history and keen eye for architecture.

A beautiful place to pray, with a very peaceful and solemn grotto located opposite the main cathedral

Beautiful catholic cathedral situated about 30 min outside Tokyo city centre by public transport. Definitely worth paying a visit, photos inside are not allowed.

Architecturally stunning cathedral. Simple forms and minimalism lead your eyes. Some interesting artifacts are held and the cathedral has fascinating links with the cathedral in Köln. In the grounds there is a small chapel reminiscent of Lourdes. Also there is a shop carrying a range of books, cards, paraphernalia and so on.

Beautiful cathedral - pipe organ and the structure is so unique (you can’t take photos inside) - must visit! Beautiful bell and the cave there too.

Botanical Garden seems to me as not very much maintained, especially the herb garden. The parts with sakuras and japan garden are very nice. Several sakura trees were blooming, but majority still waiting to shop full bloom (31 Mar 2024)

In this time of pandemic though most of the places are closed while you can still go to the private or public gardens, to release your stress, and worries for a while. Stay there for more than an hour to breathe, to relax, to get your self back, to cry, to shout and to get better. You can see many trees, flowers and wild flowers, birds, fishes, insects and so on. That makes you amazed and realize that being alive is a miracle and amazing. So, take your time to unwind and release all of your stress and worries even just for a while. Suggestible in Late Spring ,Summer, however: Anthroposophical Garden is the Perfect place to change from the Busy streets of Tokio .The collection of Medical plants is rather in Summer to Enjoy.

Beautiful botanic gardens that offer a nice break from the busy city.

This botanical garden is situated in the Bunkyo (文京) district. This is an ideal place to get away from the crowds and be close to the nature with just a quick subway train ride. Lots of plants to see and space to walk around.

It’s a beautiful park with a 500 yen entrance fee. I visited this park twice, in spring and in autumn and both times, the scenery was amazing. There’s a museum inside but I guess, it’s closed all the time. Still, a great place to enjoy nature, particularly nearby the pond.

A forest in central Tokyo, beautiful nature. Winter prune blossom of all kinds and one majestic winter sakura tree, spring cherry blossom all over a green carpet, summer tropical vibrations and autumn fire colors with maple trees and ginkgo trees. Picnick areas, snacks avaliable. This park is the perfect spot to give your senses full break from town noise and frenzy. Perfect for kids...

It's a really nice botanical garden. You need to pay 400 yen to enter. But some part is not well managed. The tracks seem to be off, if not because of the map we would definitely get lost. And yeah, they provide the english map as well. overall I have a good time in there.

Good way to spend an hour of my time as a huge baseball fan. It was only 600 yen to enter as an adult. Lots of great Japanese baseball history here. Not a super large area but enough to keep you interested. They only take cash here so be prepared. The entrance is in front of the Tokyo dome and you go downstairs to view museum. I went during an afternoon during the week so it was pretty empty. Highly recommended for baseball fans.

What else can you say? Baseball! This is a must for all Baseball fans. Great history of Japanese baseball. They also offer an English translated program. I would love to walk through the museum with an English translator.

Went to the Japanese Baseball HOF and it was closed even though the hours on Google showed as open. Very disappointed, and saw many others approach the HOF only to be terribly disappointed. I feel if a business can't maintain their posted hours on Google maps then they should be removed from Google. I can't imagine how many young children's dreams were crushed when finding the Hall closed. This is just a terrible disservice to the public I would give them a zero star if possible

A great place for baseball fans to go visit! From the USA visiting, about half of the displays had short English translations. I loved the displays on Babe Ruth'w visit to Japan as well as one of his bats. Also seeing Ichiro's jersey that he wore when he got 3,000 hits I'm the MLB which we got to see at Coors field live!

If you love baseball this is worth a visit. ¥600 to get in and you will see several of the historic artifacts of Japanese baseball.

Definitely worth checking out specially if you’re a baseball fan.

This place was quiet and a must for baseball fans. I have never been to Cooperstown but I imagine it resembles it with the hall and memorabilia. It was cool to see the way some of today's modern MLB stars were incorporated as well. Built into the tokyo dome. 600 yen per adult so super affordable. Card and yen accepted.

Not as large as the US Baseball Hog but very good nonetheless. If you're a baseball fan it's a must see attraction. Very neat exhibits.

Famous for hydrangeas, this places doesn’t disappoint oneself. It’s really good place to visit for short time. The place itself is not that big but the decorations and shrine makes it beautifully.

I came by because I really love seasonal festivals and the rainy season has one bright joy— its hydrangeas! Even if the weather is humid and gray, the flowers are bright and can make you smile. I was so happy that they held the festival again this year and I was able to stop by. They had taiko drummers and many different stalls of products. I wasn’t able to climb the miniature Mt. Fuji area, but it was covered in different colored hydrangeas and looked absolutely gorgeous. If the flowers are still hanging in there with the heat, I recommend going to take a look before they’re gone another year! Also the community itself was very welcoming to foreigners dropping in to admire the flowers. You did need to sanitize your hands and wear a mask.

Hidden gem! Small shrine but worth the visit as it was hydrangeas season. It was interesting as there seemed to be a lot of local photographers there and barely any tourists.

Beautiful Hydrangea adorned shrine in the Nezu area. The flowers are beautiful, and if you’re collecting stamps, the hydrangea season is the best to get a very special ornate one.

I came for the hydrangea festival which was really lovely! There are stalls selling food drink and souvenirs, games for the children, entertainment and of course the hydrangeas to view on the hill. It was beautiful and I enjoyed my time here! Busy but not unmanageable.

Beautiful shrine near Hakusan station and on a hill. Came before opening time and the feeling was tranquil. It's a good spot to do morning walks around.

A quiet shrine tucked away from the street. Love hydrangeas in late May / early June can be found all around the grounds.

Hakusan Shrine is known as Tokyo’s Hydrangea Shrine. During the ‘Ajisai Matsuri’ (Hydrangea’s festival) in June, these flowers are blooming in all kinds of colors and shapes. It’s beauty attracts many shrine goers and it’s busy even before 9am on a weekday. Shrine is opened 24/7 so I recommend to go early in the morning during the hydrangeas season.

I walked to this temple from Ochanomizu Station (Yushima Station is even closer), and it was a wonderful experience. I loved the nearby neighbourhood, which is quiet and low key (not that toursitic), but full of small and old cafes and restaurants. The temple itself is wonderfully compact, with different buildings and a pond with a bridge. I love that this temple is just in the middle of a residential neighbourhood.

Took the kids to this shrine to pray for their success in school and academics. This shrine stands as one of Tokyo's oldest, nestled right in the heart of the bustling city. Surprisingly, there were many people there, likely drawn by the stunning plum blossoms blooming in mid-February.

Beautiful and modern temple! There are 3 variations of sakura blossoms here. The white ones are not quite in bloom yet. I think mid March would be a better time to view them. Definitely worth a visit.

Went for the plum blossom festival. Unfortunately it is not fully bloomed yet. A lot of streets stall is located and there is a plum wine stall. You can buy a cup or a couple of cups which have all types of plum wine they have and enjoy the plum blossom.

Love this place, especially during spring. Many beautiful cherry blossom trees. Entrance fee is free. Lots of locals coming here in day time to visit, pay respects and get-together.

I was at the temple " Yushima Tenjin Shrine " one day before their festival ( 祭 ), the whole place looked great. It was decorated by flags and lanterns . It was at the busy area close to Ueno ( 上野 ). It opened in 458 AD , has a long history and is a popular temple in the community. The buildings are all in good condition . Lots of souvenir, T-shirt and good luck charms for sale . It's famous in asking for blessings in study and getting good academic results. A nice shrine and worth to visit.

Went to see the plum blossoms in the shrine. Beautiful space and serene atmosphere. As we went on a weekend we could catch some festivities and food stalls. There was a pretty long wait for offering prayers at the shrine. I am told weekdays are less crowded. The place is about 10 -15 mins from Ueno Park.

It is often visited by nearby university students to ask for help with their education and tests. Even during the rainy/cloudy day I found a lot of students still visiting. If you do not know the significance of this shrine then it will seem like a normal shrine with no unique feature. But it was still a great first (and last) visit. Must visit if you are in the area or if you pass by it but i wouldn't recommend that you go out of your way (unless you really need help in your next exams).

It’s a small shrine but popular among especially students because they worship a god of learning. You’ll find many ema prayer wooden plaques. Write your wish if you’ll have an exam!

This ancient shrine was founded in 458 CE for the worship of the god Ameno-tajikaraono-mikoto. Then in 1355, it became one of many "Tenjin" shrines throughout Japan - the most famous being Kitano Tenmangu in Kyoto. Tenjin is the name of the deified spirit of the famous ninth century scholar Michizane Sugawara (845-903). Sugawara, a high government official, was originally deified in a placatory response to the natural disasters that hit the then capital, Kyoto, immediately after his death in what had been his politically motivated exile.

Just went, the blossoms are blooming on some of the trees. Very beautiful temple in a cozy area. Would recommend.

Big. Packed. Crowded. It's worth visiting at least once if you have any business as an academic; student, teacher, doctor or researcher. Is never quiet, though.

Well presented and peaceful shrine. We went during the plum festival so there was a lot going on but everyone was very friendly and helpful.

A good option for night photography as the lights are more distributed and not too bright individually. The gate might stay open for a while after closing time but it is not open 24/7. Not particularly remarkable but it is a nice medium-sized temple to visit if you're in the area.

It is kind of a god of knowledge and it is near the university of Tokyo. Japanese students aiming to enter better university usually enjoy praying here.
