I love Potemkin Stairs day and night always busy always there is music or activities. Nice views one side you can see the sea other side nice city view. If you are in Central Odessa must go and see the stairs.

The stairs and the port are about the only things worth seeing in Odessa, but today, June 2023 the whole place is closed off and heavily militarised.

It’s not so hard to accomplish that, guys! Especially when you’re hungry and you know that upstairs is food 😂 But, honestly, beautiful place with a nice view of the Sea Port and the sea itself. In the square up there are colorful buildings and nice historical monuments. And a bunch of cool restaurants and bars! 😉

The site is located in a temporary military restricted area and is only accessible to residents and military personnel on duty. If you go from below to the stairs you can photograph up through the NATO wire but there are guards there too. And you obviously should not do it.

One of the important places you must see in Odessa, don’t forget walking near forest, it is also near sea side, harbour, check around and take more pics, it is really suggested to visit. And there is a funicular train near stairs who doesn’t want to climb.

Newly remodeled stairs are great! The area surrounding the stairs is a new park with lots of benches and sites to see. Pleasant experience for sure. There is also a children's playground that's clean and new!

Definitely one of the must see places in Odessa! The sheer size of these monumental steps is amazing! And after the recent renovation they look even more beautiful. Also surrounded by new parks, right by the city center and also right by the Port. Perfect place to be!

A compulsory place to visit in Odessa. The most recognizable and at the same time one of the most crowded places. Personally, I thought they will be bigger and most impressive. But anyway the way upstairs is tiring. Beautiful view at the harbor. The stairs- a bit messy. I recommand to take the picture of them from the other side- there's a platform in the harbor.

This grand staircase is a very ceremonious way to enter Odessa from the port. Paved with granite, the stairway was ordered by Prince Vorontsov as a gift to his wife and built at the turn of the 1840s. There are 192 steps in total, over a length of 142 metres and a difference in elevation of 27 metres. The stairway has a few intriguing quirks: One is that it is much broader at the bottom (21.7 metres) than at the top (12.5 metres). That is intentional and was done to create a false perspective and make the stairway seem larger when you’re viewing it from below. Also interesting is that when you’re standing at the top you can see only the landings while from the bottom you can see only steps.

Very scenic. Also very helpful information centre here that speaks good English. Walk down the stairs and catch the Funicular back up.

We went to see a ballet show on a Saturday afternoon. It was a student's representation so we got the tickets quite cheap 90UHA, less than 3 euro. The seats were quite good and the show was lovely, but the thing I was the most excited about was seeing the Opera house on the inside. It is such a gorgeous building. I really recommend the experience, especially for that price. The normal representations were about 5 euro which ia also quite cheap.

Well I couldn't see a performance as we were still in lockdown but I managed to get escorted by a lovely lady around the theater.The atmosphere when empty is enthralling,it must be pure magic come performance night.I doubt that any show would disappoint for us visitors because the venue and event would carry it alone. You would expect to see an Illusionist like the character Ed Norton plays in the movie to be on show here along with the people of that era.

An other fabulous landmark in Odessa! The Opera! Just wow. Go there; seat on a bench and reflect on the culture of Ukraine! Highly recommend

Took a guided tour but unfortunately it was in Russian and not in English. However, I still enjoyed the tour because of the fascinating interior architecture designs of the theatre. Was built in the 1800s making it one of the oldest opera theatres in the world and it is the most famous landmark of Odessa that you definitely want to visit. The Swan Lake was being preformed in the theatre when I was in Odessa but unfortunately tickets were sold out!

It’s a must if you are in Odessa. It’s one of the most impressive Opera theatres around the globe. True masterpiece. If you are lucky you may see a rehearsal during your excursion.

My wife and I were there watching the opera Carmen. We had the pleasure of sitting in a box. An incredible atmosphere, an architecturally very interesting building. In the breaks between the files you can have a good look at the inside of the opera and take photos. The staff were very helpful in finding the right place.

This is simply a stunning building. The outside is impressive, but inside is even better. Tickets are relatively inexpensive, bit of you just want to visit, you can do a guided tour for about 9eur for an hour. Most tours are in Ukrainian, but they do some in English. Info is a bit lacking on line, so best to call in when the box office is open. Our tour was 4:00 pm on Friday afternoon. The guide was clear and very knowledgeable.

Its a great tourist spot . Very crowded , so many fun activities to do their other than attending a concert , there is angel statue infront of the house , local belief is that it brings us good look

Perpendicular to the upper landing of the Potemkin Stairs, Primorsky Boulevard is a cultured street and walkway beside Istanbul Park. On the city side there’s a row of tall mansion blocks, now hotels and museums, while looking out in the harbour are four lanes of pedestrian paths divided by lawns enclosed with little wrought iron railings. At the top of the Potemkin Stairs you can board a funicular to descend the slope. Here there’s also a statue of the Duke of Richelieu the first Governor of Odessa, in Roman garb. Nice show, dolphins are well trained. The only bad thing is the lack of space for dolphins but they still have better living condition than most Ukrainians.

Delphinarium was amazing. The show and animals were great. The Oceanarium on the other hand was shocking and sad. Unfortunately animals don't have the best conditions and are living in way too small aquariums.

Great place to visit and enjoy the show, especially with kids. They will definitely love it. First row may get you wet. Oceanarium does not make much sense to visit- it’s very small, just two rooms.

Wonderful experience, wonderful creatures and a lovely atmosphere. The show i enjoyed had appearances of fur seals, sea lions and a handful of dolphins. The trainers are exceptionally well prepared. The show had a wonderful theme and was very exciting. Only thing i did not enjoy was the fact that the show is largely spoken in Russian, even though there were enough foreign people present. If you love dolphins, don't miss out on this incredible experience.

They have an aquarium and dolphin show both with separate entry. The aquarium was only 100 so I entered it. It's pretty small with 1 small room for aquatic animals and another room for lizards, butterflies and insects. It was worth the 100 I think. Staff was friendly and it was something different to do in ukraine. Just keep in mind it's only 2 small rooms. For 100 they can let you hold some of the lizards or snake and have your picture taken with them which was pretty fun.

Animal cruelty in a "5" star hotel. Horrible. Things like that should be prohibited. Why is nobody doing anything against that? How can people visit that place to support such a cruelty on animals 4 dolphins in a mini pool, full with tourists. Government should act. I cannot understand how people can support that. The restaurant and food is normally good. But the last time we visited the waiter tried to take extra money for himself... unfortunately this is common in Ukraine and everyone, everywhere will try and take from you whenever they can. VERY Untrustworthy people in general. He did this by pretending we had to make two payments, one for food and one for drinks. Whenever a place does this STOP and look at the amounts. We spoke to the manager about this, but she was uninterested like this is a normal thing... she had a big fat face like a bull-dog chewing on a wasp, but still did not offer anything to make up for this obvious 'mistake'. All I can say is if you are visiting Ukraine, is to check bills, checks, everything before you leave, because the people here will try and add things or do something to steal something from you. Average food, some dishes are tasty (forshmak, mushroom soup), some are not. They allow to smoke inside and smokers sit in the same hall as non-smokers but in different parts. They only accept cash.

One of the best and the most luxurious restaurants in Odesa. Everything is magnificent. Having food in this restaurant was an unforgettable pleasure for us. The presentation of the food is so unique as well as the taste of of it. Also the staff is very professional and polite. One should definitely spend an evening here.

At the foot of the Potemkin Stairs you can allow a few minutes to poke around the passenger jetty and watch the Black Sea. The city owes its 19th-century success to the fact that it’s warm-water port, so doesn’t freeze in winter, a vital characteristic in that period. Over the last 200 years the seafront has seen some dramatic moments in the Crimean War and the mass departure of Jews during a succession of pogroms at the end of the 19th century. On the jetty behind the terminal building there’s a statue depicting a fisherman’s wife holding a child and looking out to sea, along with a small maritime museum and a couple of seafood restaurants.

Beautiful building and many of the souvenirs available inside are handcrafted local produce. One shop owner even gave me a discount on my purchase of 5 straw dolls! They will also try their hardest at English and are extremely kind and welcoming.

These former limestone quarries are really a must in Odessa (there are several of them around the city stretching for tens of kilometres). You may visit this one with the excursion. It is not physically demanding and the helmet is provided in case taller people would hit the ceiling. Guides are really great and it is absolutely impressive.

Okey so this was quite a disappointment. First of all the tour was only in Russian, we did not find an English-speaking guide anywhere, but fortunately we had a friend with us who spoke Russian and could translate something for us. Second, it is nice that the bus took us to the place of the tour, but after the end he did not return, it would be nice to inform about it at least in advance that you have to walk across the city back to the city centre. Third, it was overall nice experience but it is not definitely one of the place that is "must see" in Odesa, mabye the second Catacombs that are outside the city are better (more wild).

Very interesting tour. I took a Russian language group tour but I only speak English, this not a problem as they had plaques in English at each stop. Fee was only $10 paid directly at the museum.

Wow this is just an amazing tour. They take you down some amazing routes and see both communist era and older parts of the tunnels. We had to bring a translator with us but for us this wasn't an issue. Would recommend this to anyone in the city.

Got to this place accedently. What you can expect from places like this ? Just mid-level fun ...but when we got inside of that room ,was fckn scary.... Like those movie when everything begins with joke and ends with somebody dies. Actors and decorations are great and and scary. Staff is very polite. Highly recommended !

One of the best scientific museums I have seen. Many different experiments physics, optics, mechanics, acustica and other interesting staff. Unfortunately no translation in english so find some locals for you to translate. Very good for kids and thous who in love with science.

I was there with my son of age 11. He said that it was his best experience in Odessa. And he has seen several science museums around the world. So the museum can be proud of such a high level of interactivity and novel approach to science teaching
