What a beautiful place, the beach is stunning lovely walk along seafront to the harbour , 27 degrees in May (great time too go as not crowded ) a little windy but was a lovely relief from the heat ! had such an amazing holiday rebooked for October already !! Highly recommended for a relaxing break, great food, friendly people, Portimao did not disappoint😋

Beautiful clean sandy beach. Dotted with restaurants and toilets. Well maintained board walks on the beach itself. Sun beds and umberellas are available for hire by the day. Gently sloping entry to sea.

We are here for Christmas - New Year vacation 2022-23. Most of the restaurants on the boardwalk are closed but few are open. Weather is sometimes foggy, sometimes sunny. Water too cold for me to swim but children enjoyed. Very peaceful and not crowded at all.

I read through some of the negative reviews stating it's too full, it's too much for mass tourism and that is not incorrect. There are a lot of people. There are not the most beautiful buildings in sight from the beach. But it is still a beautiful beach with some nice rock formations on the side. The beach is quite shallow in the beginning and generally the sea is calm (with exceptions obviously), which makes it suitable for children and elderly alike. There are more beautiful beaches in the area and in the world but for a mass tourism beach in a city this is very nice and relaxing.

Beautiful long and wide sandy stretch of paradise. In season, busy with sun bathers, families, young and old, out of season dog walkers, hikers, thinkers, surfers, couples, and photographers. Framed by orange cliffs, hidden caves, and ever changing ocean colour scapes, this is one of the best beaches in Europe.

Awesome beach! It’s huge so it never actually feels busy! Great boardwalk and wooden paths to get you almost all the way to the water. Seating and umbrellas are all over the place (usually free to use) and the places to eat are very good with reasonable prices for being right on the beach. We ate there multiple times on a single trip. Water is clean, beach is clean, and workers are always out to clean it up. I swear I never saw trash anywhere which is incredible to me. Needless to say, we ll be visiting this beach again 🏖️

A nice place to visit. Apparently it is quite popular among the surfers' community, to which I do not belong. Still, the place is beautiful, the beach is huge and impressive but I guess the water temperature is on the low side. There is a small church worth visiting and a few places to eat.

This is a huge beach with a large number of beachside restaurant/cafés, some of which are open in low season. Difficult to park and access to beach requires many steps. Fantastic boardwalk for walking along beach without getting sandy.

Just sitting by the water on a day like today is enough to clear your mind of any worries or stress. Slide down the gentle ridge and you can head for the flat sand and the sea. Certain parts of the beach are more popular than others but as you head further west and almost as you pass the last beach restaurant then it becomes much quieter and more deserted. Worth the walk to the man made breaker which you can then walk along to the small light house.

This is a beautiful beach. I particularly like those rocks and caves. The water is warm and the tides are low. A lovely place.

Beautiful Portuguese beach with stunning red sandstone cliffs and mesmerising turquoise to blue sea. Bar / cafe and toilets. Quite a lot of steps down to (and then back up) the beach. Gets quite crowded at peak times.

I parked up in the parking lot and went off hiking up on the cliffs. There are paths that go all over the place so you can explore. But be very careful you can slip off the edges very easily. Be sure only to do this when it is dry and did not rain, because then it will be no fun, trust me. I walked all the way to the next city which is an approximately 4.5 km and kept going. A total of 14 km hike I did in 5:15h with some stops for beer 😃 Between parking in the parking lot is free, but it is very dusty so when you come back, your car will be very dirty. Down at the bottom, you can explore all around on the sandy beaches. There are caves and holes that you can walk through if the water is not too far up. Beware that you don’t get pulled into the ocean. I would recommend this place. Good for people all ages - kids, dogs whatever! There are also some restaurants and some snack bars around by the parking lot so if you’re hungry or thirsty….

Spent a wonderful afternoon at this beach. Loved walking among the rock formations, and then sitting in the sun playing my ukulele. Couldn't have asked for a better peaceful, sunny day in January.

Great beach, kids had fun exploring the caves and collecting shells. A couple of cafe's on the beach too if you need food or drink.

Lovely, clean beach with stunning cliffs. Fine sand, refreshingly cold water, specific to Portugal (that's the Atlantic for you), so don't expect to see as many people in the water as in the Balearics (which may be good, at times). Plenty restaurants around to get a cup of coffee or the more expensive, 'fish of the day'. The beach looks a lot different when the tide is low, when you can access a lot more places and have plenty more beach than when the tide is high. If you dare to follow the small, narrow paths above the cliffs, there are many places to take vibrant panoramic pictures from above.

Gorgeous scenery, plenty of routes up and down the cliffs for all abilities, and a great beach bar next to it. There’s been a storm the day before we went which meant the sea washed up a load of debris - led to believe it is usually quite clean though. Gutted we only made it here on the last day of our stay - would be back every day if I could!

Fabulous and very interesting walking through the history of the sardine factory in portimao. The video is informative and also very funny. A little propaganda for the factories of the time! Bonus... Free on Sundays between 10-1400!

Informative and captivatingly entertaining. The sardine factory turned museum is an absolute must to see. Makes you feel to have witnessed the factory when it was up and running. Other art effects the Roman and Arab influences are also very interesting giving a good historical background of this town. Highly recommended.

Old cannery put to good use. Great lithography machines and all old equipment used in canning sardines. One area closed off for maintenance.... Cheap entry

Fun little museum along the Riverfront. The main exhibit space is dedicated to the story and history of the Sardines and the factory that the museum is housed. little room is left for rotating exhibits, but they are usually well presented.

What a wonderful and educational museum. for €3 per person you enter the world of canning sardines. Do: watch the film in black and white that was made years ago at the factory. this is really worth it. the machines with which the tins were made at the time are on display and are provided with explanations in Portuguese and English. the museum itself is not huge so an hour should suffice to make the tour. in the entrance hall you will find toilets and with a bit of luck you can buy canned goods with tasty sardines or tuna at the counter. enjoy.

Really cool building but could have used a lot more explanation of how people worked, maybe something about the fishing and the impact of overfishing. Just a bunch of machines and a few statues... A long way for not a lot. But I loved it anyway, I just wanted so much more!

Beautiful location. Interesting museum about the fishing industry in Portugal, especially for the low price. We spent a little less than an hour there. Make sure to watch the film - everything else in the museum comes together once you watch it. We would have loved to buy a poster or old tin sheets in a gift store, but there isn't really a gift store (just some little trinkets in a glass case). The museum only takes cash, and doesn't have change for a 50€ bill, which I found surprising given that it seems quite fancy/new/well-funded! Unfortunately half the museum was closed off for renovations (we saw no renovations being done behind the cord, though).

Wonderful museum giving a description of the area from prehistoric times to the more modern industrial times. Lots of models and displays and many interactive screens in English and Portuguese. Also an art gallery upstairs. Would heartily recommend.

A really interesting museum about life in the local area particularly the sardine fishing and canning. Well worth a visit. Lots to see and interesting displays. Good walk afterwards along the traffic free river side into Portimao.

I was hesitant to visit, but I appreciated the museum and the exhibition. The lomg video explaining the fish industry and the factory itself were so interesting. And for only 3 euros !

The experience was educational about sardine, the evolution of Portimão, the history of some coins, tribes, machinery, and expansion due to the trading of sardines.

A fascinating historical museum. Not just the sardine factory, but also the Roman and megalithic ruins, different coins, and auditory explanations.we had previously visited the megalithic monuments at Alcalar, which was an added bonus. Would have appreciated more English language on the exhibits, plus some signs are low down , and difficult to read. The photographic display upstairs was great, though.

Well designed small museum showcasing the sardine canning industry which built this fishing town. There is also an introduction explaining the foundations of the area from before Roman times to the present. Ticket costs just 3€. A nice visit to learn something about the town and its people. Exhibitions are well thought out even if they are small and limited in content. It’s a quick visit you can do after walking the zona Ribeirinha of Portimao.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this visit. It was interesting, the information was in English and it was well set out. The video brought the workers to life. An excellent experience.

One of the most interesting museums I have ever been. These sculptures of workers are like alive.. interesting to know the history of everything how it had been there, modern and informative!

Surprised by the quality of this museum. Really friendly staff. It has one part focused on archeology and another regarding the history of the factory and fishery industry. Temporary exhibition upstairs too.

I found it informative going to visit the museum. There were lots of artefacts of the distant and not so distant past, some going back to the BC period. Gives one quite an insight of the area's history. Particularly liked that an actual sardine factory was turned into a museum. There was also a photography exhibition and some artwork on display.

We attended the motogp that we love. But you cannot book general admission tickets and once you arrive at your designated area you cannot go anywhere else. The only food available was burgers that were cold and far from cheap 28euros for 2 burgers, 3 small merchandise tents no where near to the seating area or entrance. All in all we would not attend again.

Well maintained clean circuit with small hills and undulations, making for a nice entertaining track. Many viewing stands around the track. The road to the Circuit is a little rough. Onsite restaurant inside the Paddock.

EPIC Grand Prix track - rode it for three days on motorcycles - will never forget it. I'm in my 50's have raced for years and all over the world - I own my own racetrack in NY....and this place is LEGEND.

Great track, great staff, good pricing vs alternatives with this standard of track and facility. The skill level can vary massively within the session so slow drivers can be a nuisance. The staff are very happy to facilitate for fast drivers to go into different sessions to avoid slow traffic. Good timing sheets. On par with Rye House in the UK. (Championship karting track in England) The full race track offers experiences and hot laps with pro drivers. If you have the budget I highly recommend going for a hot lap in a super car with one of the pro drivers. Excellent circuit. Also good for motoGP races.

What can you say about the roller coaster that hasn't already been said? It's a technical circuit that needs some learning, but it is very flowing once you learn it and such a rewarding place to enjoy carrying a lot of speed.

Best and most spectacular racing circuit in Europe. Large parking area, good comunications between all the circuit stands. Also very expensive food trucks, maybe too much.

I had a great weekend there at the motogp race, great atmosphere and supernice racetrack in a stunning scenery! I can totally recommend to by tickets for the Lagos corner!

Straightforward check-in process on arrival; staff helpful and informative and got us into the karts within ten minutes of arriving without an appointment. The karts are in seriously good condition, possibly the best I've driven, which made the whole experience a cut above most circuits. We drove for fifteen minutes and it didn't feel horribly short, definitely enough if you just want to play, although I think I'd go for half an hour if I came here again. Thanks for a great experience.

Had such a blast carting, definitely worth a trip! Beware that when you add time (ex: you paid for 30 mins and want to add another 15 mins), they charge you as if you hadn't already been. It's best to choose the longer time up-front. Have fun!!

Glad a great weekend for motogp a shame we can't walk around the track and are stuck in our seated zones. Another down side is they only sold non alcoholic beer down in the fan zone. Not actually at the track where your seats were. Getting in on race weekend is also pretty lengthy. The same everywhere else though really. Police did a great job getting everyone out.

What an awesome circuit for bike racing! Very hot with hardly any shade if youre not in the main grandstand. Food and drink facilities poor, away from the main grand stand. Marquez on a Ducati yet??

Great track, good viewing. However, the traffic control is terrible. I had to park in the back of nowhere, with supposedly a bus back. I was there 3 days, never saw a bus, and track officials didn't know about a bus service. I would have put 1 star, but the racing was good and has put me in a good mood.

Seriously one of the best circuits for spectators that I've visited worldwide. Such a shame F1 doesn't visit here frequently. Grandstands have incredible acoustics and the general admission standing areas have huge views of the circuit (similar to parts of brands hatch).

Exciting circuit! However "limited mobility and disability access" extremely poor, lifts not working, eating facilities toilets etc. need significant enhancement...!

Our tour was conducted by Captain Mauro and Guide Andre. Took just under two hours but was a great tour with various caves and beaches being explained. Boat ride was comfortable and you could tell that care was being taken to minimise any bumps or waves where possible. Would happily recommend.

Our Benagil Cave Tour was absolutely amazing and so were our guides. It was really fun and great experience, also really good organized and everything on time. Captain and guide were both experienced so we felt safe and comfortable during whole tour, they also provided us informations and fun facts about places we were seeing, we stopped at several caves and rock formations and at the end in the Benagil cave and Marinha beach, at each stop there was enough time to take pictures, captain always turned the ship around so everyone has a great view from each sides. We really recommend this tour and choosing this company.

What an amazing experience. Two hours of mind-blowing views - from caves, coves and beaches to breathtaking coastline and marine life. The boat was fast, secure and small enough to get into those small coves. My bum was a bit numb towards the end but it was a small price to pay for such unique views and such knowledgeable and fun guides (the captain and the actual guide). We did it on a sunny December day and it was gorgeous, would love to do it again in the summer - and hopefully see the dolphins too.

We had a great time. The staff was so helpful and welcoming. We did have a problem when we tried to buy water at the little shop before we left. We didn’t take cash with us and the store did not accept bank cards. One of the staff bought me a bottle of water. Problem solved. The boat was comfortable and the scenery spectacular.

Trip highlight for us! So accommodating with our toddler and the views were incredible. Tour was a perfect length of time, and the staff often checked on how everyone on the boat was doing. The ride was super smooth. Make sure to bring water and sunscreen!

Brought my family on this boat tour so we could have some adventure, and it didn't disappoint. We took a journey to multiple different caves and sights around the Algarve coast. Our guide Andre was great, giving us details about every single cave. My wife and two daughters loved it and we would definitely recommend the experience.

Must do if you are in Portimão / Algarve area. Extremely enjoyable. Our guide, Andre was terrific and gave excellent English/French guide to the different beaches, caves and rock formation. The tour lasted 2 hours and was excellent value to see much in short period of time. Our pilot navigate the boat and we always felt safe 100%. Highly recommend to check them out.

Lovely tour of Benagil cave tour from Portimao plus a few more caves. The tour lasted two hours. The staff was fun and friendly and they showed us some beautiful spots and caves. The tour was conducted in English, Spanish and French language and the staff was: informative, entertaining and fun! Definitely a 5/5 and would definitely recommend.

Definitely recommend this trip, we got to see lots of caves and various beaches. Brought you to all the caves and even allows you to stop for a swim. It was windy when went on our trip, the captain and guide were excellent in getting us to the caves and back safely. Must do experience while in the Algarve !

Best boat tour and worth every second ! Please book the tour directly through their website, they offered a better price compared to other platform. They were running whole day from 9 to 5, we booked the earliest slot at 9’o clock, which proved to be the right choice to avoid the crowds. Please be there on time and bring your sunscreen and sunglasses with you. They have two staff on the boat, one is the guide who will explain everything in both Portuguese and English and the other guy is the captain. The entire tour took around 2h which covered all the famous caves and beaches along the coastline, exceptionally beautiful, stunning !!! They are quite friendly and helpful to the international travelers like us. Our Viator boat tour using the Algarve Discovery company to take us to the Benagil and Marinha Caves tour was EXCELLENT Our Captain Pedro had such precision at the helm, maneuvering us into tight caves and around rock formations with ease! Gabriel, our tour guide, had interesting facts to tell and a great sense of humor as we followed along the coast poking in and out of coves and caves! They both made a fantastic team! Everyone on the boat head a terrific time!

I booked the cave tour for 2 adults and 2 children. The whole experience was absolutely amazing, from start to finish! Booking was easy, and the follow up emails came through quickly and had all the information needed, even providing a link directly to the directions for the meeting place. When we arrived, we were greeted by a lady (didn't get her name) who was lovely, and explained where we would be departing from. We were then escorted to our boat where we were met by Mario (captain) and Andre (guide). All the safety guidelines were explained clearly and life jackets provided. The tour was delivered with lots of humour and was very informative. The views were absolutely stunning, and the caves were beautiful. I would 100% recommend this trip to everyone. It is definitely worth the money.

My family and I went on the tour along the coast and was absolutely blown away by the sights amazing little hidden beaches and our guides were brilliant and very friendly and knowledgeable and the history my youngest was feeling a little unwell and our guide said we could stop if needed but luckily she started to feel better thank you Gabriel and mauro you are the best.

We had a fabulous afternoon with our guide Andre. He was very knowledgeable and shared lots of information. Mario was an excellent captain and took is into many of the caves. Such a wonderful tour.

Mind blowing stunning views here , the geology is so interesting. Great beach with those beautiful cliff formations. Water is so clear and was so warm to dip. Also a nice spot to kayak. Worth visiting.

Excellent beaches in this area! There are caves you can wonder around but beware of rockfall. The water is turquoise year-round and not too cold even in the winter.

We went to a boat tour to see these beautiful caves and stones around the area. It was breathtaking. We were able to get into and see the caves. We even saw a big jellyfish in the water. Strongly recommend a boat or kayak trip.

Beautiful walk to this beach and the walk along the cliffs provide amazing views. There are a few restaurants dotted along the walk there and there's also plenty of parking.

This beach is stunning. It has a large stretch of sand and cliffs and rock faces around. You can walk from one beach to the next, and through the rocks/coves. It wasn't busy. There are bars and restaurants around all with bathrooms and toilets available.

I think it was my favourite beach in the Algarve. Even on a cloudy day. The sand is clean, but it does become as hard as ciment mixed with water so be careful when you sit down🤪

Exhilarating walk, first on the cliff tops between stinking older homes and the edges of the cliff. Several families have cultivated these magnificent succulent gardens, including the gargantuan all the way down to the M midst subtle of plants. Eventually one comes to a pad in the cliffs allowing you down to the beach among these ancient rock formations carved out of a sandstone and shell composition over millennia! Our visit way in mid winter with bright sun, vibrant blue skies, crystal clear ocean water, dynamic Atlantic Ocean waves, and 65°F air temp's. The walk ranges from 4 - 8 km, depending on your stamina in managing some moderately steep and scaley inclines. Free parking in winter, handicap spaces available, limited number of spaces; several lunch and /or coffee shops grouped near the beginning of the walk.

The Subnauta team is nice. But the dives were horrible. You can't see 2 meters ahead! We dove to 2 different ship wrecks. You can only see what close enough to touch so we couldn't see the ships at all. You have to keep up with the guild because the viability is so horrible so you barely look around. Especially if there are currents. So we did not enjoy the dives at all. It's like diving in milk. I wouldn't recommend diving in this area at all. It's a waste of time and money. On the plus side the Subnauta has a nice facility and good quality equipment that is suitable for the cold water of the Atlantic.

This was one of my best diving experience which I ever had. The equipment was like new, excellent condition, boat was great and safe. The instructors Estelle and Paul, have a huge experience, perfect English language and they are so helpful. Their knowledge is huge, and they teach great. The center it self is modern, clean and very good prepare for everyone. They have got a lockers with key, clean and big showers with hot water, funny but when you diving in cold ocean, hot shower after is this what you need. Store is very good equipped and advice from Paul is always good. Diving site, WOoooow!! I was diving inside two ships wrecks. Nothing else to say WOOOOOOOW 5+ is not enough.

Great service, very nice people and well organized. Subnauta has a shop with diving equipment and organizes dive tours and dive courses. You can rent all equipment you need there. The dives are well coordinated, and they transfer all the equipment on board of the boat. Between dives they serve a small lunch and water. After the dive you can shower at the premises with fresh towels provided. Perfect diving centre!

One of the better dive shops I have been in. Staff was great, helpful and very excited their wreck locations. The locker room had HOT WATER for showers and lockers that locked. Briefings (went on two wreck dives) were very detailed and done in the shop by the dive master with AV backup.

Total VIP service ! Renato and his team are friendly, knowledgeable and the whole concept is well thought out. Most people go to Subnauta to experience the Ocean Revival project - 4 portuguese Navy ships sunk on purpose to create artificial reefs. These dives are for AOWD with some previous experience. This is not a dive in a tropical sea : visibility is low, there is some current and the water is cold (14 degrees Celsius) even in the summer. But it is still worth doing. So much so that our family is looking forward to the next time with Renato. Once you are inside the wrecks, visibility improves and , as long as you don't have a novice diver in your group kicking up sediments, will remain reasonable enough to let you clearly see the interior of each wreck. Not too many fish, certainly nothing big or unusual, you come here for wreck penetration..the exteriors are great as well, on the biggest ship there is still a cannon of considerable size, but it's the interiors that are more interesting..bare in mind that the largest of the 4 wrecks is well over 100 meters long, it's easy to see why you need to do a few dives in order to just get an idea of it all. The dives are usually double, with surface intervals to get rid of the nitrogen. Renatos crew takes care of changing the bottles and provides you with a snack - sandwich, sweet, water and coffee/tea. You only need to mount your equipment in the center, from there on everything is taken care of : the team moves the equipment to and from the boat, etc.. The changing rooms and showers are great - gel, towels, everything is there. This service aspect is totally different from what you can expect at Divers Cape in Sagres, for example (read other review)..not better or worse, just 180 degrees different. If you have never had the chance to dive on the Algarve before, be prepared for a "culture shock" . Our family absolutely loves wreck dives and this dive center will not disappoint you if wrecks are your thing too. Just don't expect tropical temperatures or visibility... Personally I can't wait to return in a couple of years.

Dived the frigate and the corvette with Renato and his team from Subnauta mid May - the water was chilly, but a great experience. The club is about as smart as they get - fully equipped for nitrox, sidemount, recyclers, the works and using aqualung 7mm semi-drys for us tourists. We arrived in the morning and they'd already prepared BCD, cylinders and regs. Totally professional and great fun. Just wish I'd taken a dry suit or gone in the summer!

Staying in Portimão and walking from this beach to Praia de Boião daily has been magical. But… dog poo on the walk path where tourists and locals with kids walking with bare foot is something Portimao council could do please! We love seeing dogs on the beach but until we saw this poo staying there on the rock. we like Algarve because of the cleaness of the beach so that would like to come back again.

Spectacular sandy beach with eroded rocks, that create, small caves and crevices, all making great holiday photo opportunities. There're quite a few restaurants by the beach as well if you need a coffee or a beer. Great spot for a morning/evening walk as well. The tide is in/out every few days and therefore the sand right by the ocean is very solid. This means you should be able to take a walk with a pram/stroller.

Undoubtedly, one of the places that you must visit and spend at least a day. A great visual spectacle of rock formations that will accompany you along its entire length. Clean water and the beach are standard here, so there is nothing else to do but enjoy every moment of this place!

Stunning and very scenic beach. The water is quite shallow for a while which is very enjoyable for a swim. The cliffs and stand alone rocks really add to the charm :)

I'm not a beach expert! This beach has great visual appeal, caves(large erosions in the cliffs and rocks) compared to it's next-door neighbour, praia da rocha, it seemed less populated and pretentious. Plenty of room to walk and not too many rented chairs and umbrellas. We stayed in front of the Rocha Azul, nice for cold ice slushies and beer!

We ordered Long island iceteas from cocktail menu, drinks were obviously just juice. Cant recommend to anyone based on this experience.

Great place, lovely cocktails, good crowd and been around a very long time. The location is a bit random but that actually adds to the place and enjoyment of it, set amongst a real local crowd and community.

Drinks are fab, cheaper than other places in Praia da Rocha and definitely stronger. The two fellas who run the bar are really friendly. If you find the F restaurant on the main strip the bar is down the commercial shopping alley opposite. My only gripe is no toilet seat in the ladies! Been like it 3 years. 😂

What can I say! In a dying resort, this bar, which is hidden away from the strip is THE best bar in Praia da Rocha! The number one thing that strikes me about this place unlike other bars in Praia da Rocha is that it is clean! The toilets are kept spotless and there is no nasty smell from them that lingeres around the whole place. The drinks are fab and cheap. The design of this place is lovely. I love the designs on the walls. Happy hour is brilliant, a pint of Super Bock for 1.50€. The guy at the bar Daniel is sound! Very positive and cheerful. I will say that this bar is what made me enjoy my holiday the most! I would return to Praia da Rocha again solely to visit this place again! One shot to try is the danger shot only €2 but wise investment! Would recommend 100 percent!

Another favourite (along with Igreja/Capela Montes de Alvor). The Igreja Matriz has historical interest and provides an English service on Saturdays at 7pm. The Capela has a small, friendly congregation.

This little village church is a special place, beautiful both inside and out. A place to take a few minutes out and think of the future and the past.

An impressive site for a mooch about. Good display on the archeology. If neolithic sites are not your thing I would suggest visiting on a day where they are doing the reenactments showing how life was.

Small but important cultural and historical site. I enjoy paleolithic and megalithic sites, and this will be very familiar to people who have visited other such sites around Europe. This one has the bonus of being remote and not many visitors, so it can feel like you have the whole place to yourself. Including being able to go in and on top of the passage tomb. It's beautiful and haunting. The site is in impeccable condition considering how much access visitors have. Clean and well-preserved. The old man who runs it is a lovely person. I would gladly pay the small fee in order that people can preserve this site. While it is small, I still feel like there is more to see and learn, especially on the days when they have exhibits and demonstrations. The best part is I could take my dog!

Very small site. If you’ve visited Neolithic sites in the UK or Ireland you may be disappointed. The museum, while interesting was very small and the mounds themselves were a bit underwhelming. For €2 per person it’s not a huge investment.

Not much to it, and what there is is a bit boring. The lithics are distinctly un-mega. Only for hardcore fans of neolithic sites. On the plus side it's very cheap and there is a nice man to tell you about all the things they've found somewhere else that you can't visit, and put a video on for you.

Really interesting prehistoric site. The man is the museum is very knowledgeable and helpful too, he put a video on for us to watch first which gave us an overview of the site and told us a lot about it.

Amarzing re-enactment and demonstrations of prehistoric skill. We especially appreciated the axe making and dear skinning demonstrations. Actors did not abandon their role any moment (except when we filmed them and asked for a selfie). Restaurant did not disappoint. A modest but really interesting site that gives insight to how life was before the cafés and bars arrived in the Algarve! Really lovely man in the reception to explain and show us the video. Well worth a visit, even on a 'non-event' day when we visited.

A fascinating historical site, with a 10 minute movie to watch, before walking to the two tumulus . Nice views, only downside was (sheep/goat) poop on the pathways.

A few very old walls, if you're coming looking for history you'll be disappointed, if you're looking for a shady resting spot, a place for kids to run around and well maintained toilets then this is the place for you. Some building work is going on close by at the time of writing.

After visiting dozens of castles in Portugal this is the first time I find one that was converted into a children's playground. At least is nice to give the space a new purpose instead of just abandoning it or destroying it. We can clearly see the walls around the area.

Alvor Castle isn't really a castle, just a few remains that have been converted into a children's play area. Wouldn't make a special visit to the castle, but if you're in the village with children, it's a nice place to stop for a rest, as it's nicely shaded and there are some public toilets here (which were impressively clean when we visited). Good place to stop and let kids play - basic climbing frame, slide and swings.

There is not much of a castle left but it's good to see what there is. It now is home to a playground for the local children do still nice but not a castle to explore.
