This is a beautiful church with a long history. The interior is free to enter but donations are welcome. More than most churches, you'll find a lot of panels and historical pieces showcasing the church. The context helps a lot and makes it a better learning experience. The outside is wonderfully detailed, but the best part is that you can interact with parts of the old foundation! A side of the church that was excavated is open for viewing, seating, and appreciation. It's a great stop on your way around town.

The Villa Olmo grounds are very beautiful and welcoming. This Villa overlooks the lake of Como and is absolutely wonderful! You can see planes landing and taking off from the lake as you walk around the grounds and actually walk down to the water. It was a great place to stop and take in the beauty of lake Como.

If the weather is nice, have a coffee on a bar of Lido di Villa Olmo and visit the villa's gardens. It’s not really a welcoming place once you get there, while from afar it looks majestic. The lawns in front of the villa are quite crowded. There’s a small public „beach“ where you can enter the lake but it’s not really inviting actually.

Food is good but even better is that prices seem to be set in a time warp. Seems not to have changed from the moment when the Euro was first introduced. I walked along the bridge to this point and whilst it's pretty. It just didn't feel right sitting within the lake, for me personally. It's a nice sculpture but oddly, the actual bridge to the point is enough.

Unlike so many churches in Europe, which are often a mixture of various styles, here one finds quite a rather unaltered Romanesque construction. The Basilica, built in the 11th century over an even older church as has been found out by recent excavations, is aesthetically very pleasing - from the exterior as well as inside. There are also some wall paintings, although they date from the 14th century. In the middle are the relics of Saint Abbondio, a local bishop, and of two of his successors, rather unknown saints elsewhere. Next to the church is a courtyard, recently restored, which now gets used by the town's university

I find the surrounding streets to be a little more colorful and the plaza itself, in front of the church, is much bigger — compared to that of the Como Duomo — this makes San Fedele Basilica a very relaxing spot off the crowded, tourist-filled, tiny streets. The theatre is adequate but the viewing experience from the top floors is greatly hindered by the presence of badly positioned columns. Although the castle is closed in the winter, the walk up offers great views when you circle around the walls. We had a nice picnic on the walls overlooking the city. The footpaths are not well signposted on the way up from the town. The information boards are not very detailed.

Great collection in the music wing of the museum. Highly recommended just for that part of the museum. The archeology museum was not as great. If you can definitely check it out the location being within the old castle makes the whole experience worth it.

Although Castello Baradello was closed when we made our hike here, the rest of the journey was worth it. Don't be disheartened if you find this closed, if you carry on your hike you'll come across an ancient settlement (pre-Roman), replica Roman farm house, and astonishing views from Monte Croce.

The hike up is good for the views! But the castle is rarely open, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up! But as you can see, you do get a stunning view of Como and the lake from the top of the hill so if that’s what you fancy, it’s well worth the walk.

Porta Torre is a well-preserved Romanesque military building. The tower is square in shape. It is decorated with several arches, which probably had a military significance. The tower is made of massive materials, with the aim of better defense and to make it more difficult for the enemy to conquer.

Very disapointing we had been there yesterday and you can't walk through it because it seems this one is breaking apoarts slowly but truly there were many little stones on the floor and lots of birds inhabiting it.

We walked along the Saturday market and went through this gate. It's a really cool tower. But, that's it.
