Even through the fog, it was a beautiful sight to see from the top. There's a few areas to explore around the top, there's old na.zi bunkers, which my children enjoyed exploring, 418 steps to tier them out too. The cafe is OK. The cakes were nice, the coffee needs improving!

Aksla...the mountain top, it covers the entire view of fjords and islands around Alesund. City train is available to reach at the top and stairs goes all the way down to the sentrum. You can eat a lot of blue berries here as well :-)

You could either get to the Aksla viewpoint in Ålesund by walking 418 steps up the mountain or take the easy route by car or bus, then you’ll be starting from the top. Amazing view! You can take great panoramic pictures of Ålesund from the viewpoint.

OMG, what a great viewpoint. Only 418 steps to the top and most of them have been renovated in recent years. So whilst the track is steep and zigzagging, it’s not too strenuous and there are many places to stop, look or sit. The views are breathtaking especially at sunset. So worth doing and will be a highlight of your visit!

Be prepared this is a good up hill workout which is worth it for the pics you can take and the views x

One of perhaps 3 best-known views in Norway. Not to be missed. Beside the inclement stairs, there's also the much gentler asphalted road from the back side.

Fantastic view, well worth the trek up the 408 steps. I have a fear of hights and could manage it, it’s not too narrow and there are some seats on the way to rest. You can either pay 100 NOK to access the view on top or you can buy something in the cafe and then go up the stairs inside. Alternatively, you can go a bit higher up and enjoy the view for free.

Great view, must see! We drove up there instead of taking the stairs because we only stayed a few hours in Ålesund. It’s a bit icky that you have to pay to get the best view. It’s fine if the money go to the kommune, but if it’s a private establishment it’s really really trashy. Especially since you couldn’t even enjoy a coffee or a meal there. We did pay to get in tho, we weren’t gonna miss that.

Fantastic views from up here, not only over Ålesund, but the sea to the North, East and South. We were here on a clear day and the views were truly incredible. We walked along the hill from the stadium so had great views each way. We also explored the various bunkers by the view point. I glad that they’re open to have a look around. Some of them are quite big, so bring a torch!

Easy to access, we were with our dog and we walked up there without any problem. It was in late march so the snow melted and it was not slippery. That day was rainy and lots of wind so be prepared in case… but really beautiful view.

With cafe and scenic view of the fjord and the city on top. You just need a bit of hike going up but you won’t even sweat. Easy and kid friendly.

Beautiful views. The stairs up are a challenge...but there are plenty of seats along the way to take a breather. Well worth the walk up if you're able to do it. We also found a bunker from the war. Used our flashlights on our phones and crawled in.

Beautiful views, try the stairs if you have time and are brave enough,it seems better when it's not packed. Otherwise, you can use the hop on hop off bus or the cute train.The views are breathtaking, and just below it, you'll see some war bunkers( for the history fanatic like me). It's a hikers haven with so many trails.

Great morning spent here. Arrived early to see the penguin and otter feeding. Loved the really enormous fish tank with seating in front of it - mesmerising. Location beside the sea is stunning.

We stopped in Alesund on our cruise and this was one of the available excursions. It was superb, the kids (and adults) had a great time. From small splash pools where you can get hands on to several enormous aquariums. We had 3 hours here and we could have spent longer.

It’s a great aquarium - they feed the fish, otters, penguins, and seals in front of you! These demonstrations are in both Norwegian and English. Tank descriptions are also in both Norwegian and English. There is a lot to learn about Norwegian and Arctic coastal wildlife, as well as the environmental impact of salmon farming in Norway. Cafe has great coffee. You can buy tickets at the Aquarium doors. Gift shop has nice combination of aquarium-related gifts, as well as some Norwegian wool clothing.

Staying in Alesund for one night, we were looking for a nice attraction on our way out of the city and somehow got to the Atlantic Sea-Park: a very serene and beautiful place. The visit is worth the enterance fee (which is not high for two adults). Indoors, there are several aquariums featuring an abundance of sea creatures, with informative and relevant games for children. There is also a section dedicated to the Salmon industry which we found interesting. Outdoors there are penguins and a large pool of seals, gorgeous landscape combined with the view of the sea. On your way out you can find a merchandise store and a small Cafe. All in all, the park is a highly recommended place to visit if you're in the area and got some spare time to spend.

A great place,lots to see and do for everyone, especially children. The outside area has a big playground- sandpit and water/wet play area (worth taking a spare change of clothes). You can also see penguins, otters and seals. Views are amazing. We spent most of the time outside,soaking up the sun. There is a lovely café on the premises. We enjoyed our coffee and ice cream, you can get hot food too. The staff was very friendly, helped with booking a taxi. They all speak English. All the info in the aquarium is in Norwegian and English. We'd definitely visit this place again 😊👌

An amazing impression of the underwater world in Norway. Great educational games for kids (and adults!) and the park also provides an insight into Norway's fishing industry. Friendly staff and good food. Try the fish cake :) also the free water with lime and mint and the coffee and tea options were great. However, it would be great if they had more language options than English and Norwegian - lot of wasted potential, especially since the park is catered to the interests and needs of kids under 12. What about digital options in Germany, Dutch, Italien, French,....... Despite that, we had an awesome time in the Atlantikpark. I would recommend everybody to go there :)

Lovely little place showing off many species of sea life found in the North Sea. They even have penguins, otters and seals! Worth a visit.

What a great place to visit. For all ages. Modern, spacious, vg educational signage. Inside and outside exhibits, focussed on local marine wildlife which is great for international tourists wanting to learn about Norway (except for the Humboldt penguins of course). The otters, seals and the penguins were very entertaining! Their outdoor enclosures were very well constructed, built into the existing coastline so set in a very natural setting. The little cafe was good with views to the outside, and the shop had nice things too.

This is a celebration and education of sea life but especially fish. The important thing is that the fish are those found in the sea off the coast here. That means there are no bright coral reef fish but what there is here is just as diverse and fascinating. A great place to bring the children. It is clean and wheelchair accessible with good toilets, a shop and cafe.

Animal feeding hours are great shows, takes hours to see everything and all the corners of the aquarium. Good restaurant, activity room is a must for kids, and adults too.

not worth the money. It's certainly not worth the 1 km walk that one has to do up the hill from where the bus no. drops us off. I do not understand why the bus can not do the extra km and drop us and pick us up from.outaide the aquarium. some staff were quite good explaining stuff. I prefer the London Aquarium, though. a lot better and more varieties .

We had a great time we visited from USA and enjoyed the open concept seal and otter encounters right against the water outside. The penguin feeding was adorable and the entire facility was clean. Staff was friendly and the food in the cafe was delicious. Souvenirs are also well priced. Very wheelchair accessible and fun for all ages.

Just a wonderful place for families. The sealife was wonderful. We saw the otters being fed. Kids loved the rocks to climb on. The price was reasonable. You have to take a bus or taxi, it's far from town. The restaurant was delicious too. The people were helpful and a nice gift shop.

Wonderful for kids and grans to spend time together and learn. Many exhibits about fish in Norway. Live fish, crabs, rays, seals, otters and penguins. There is an Octopus with two slides. A sandpit and water maze to keep the little one busy. Cafe and souvenier shop too. Adult entry is 255Nok per person. Parking is quite a distance. It is a very long walk if you take the public bus. Love the Fish feeding by diver at 1pm. 2pm Otter feeding. 2:30 pm penguin feeding. Weather was nice when we were here and we had a good time.

A nice place for both kids and adults. The staff feeds the animals/fish while telling about them. Very informative! A lot of acrivities for kids as well, both inside and outside. Plus, it is very well taken care off and clean. We always have a blast when we go here, I highly recommend visiting this place!

A first-class design aquarium, the best aquarium I have ever been to. There are many facilities for children to interact. Santa Diver is great fun.

Lots and lots to do. Very interactive, great animals and great staff. They were full of information, free to answer questions and were extremely friendly.

We didn't like the Aquarium. We expected more. I only liked the penguins. But overall it was boring. But many others like it here and that's good.

I walked to the park from the city center :) I was delighted with the place where it is located and that I accidentally got to the morning feeding of otters. Otters and penguins stole my heart. Another interesting exposition about salmon’s farms

Atlantic Park was a super impressive aquarium with very large indoor and outdoor tanks filled with hundreds of LARGE Cod, Halibut, herring and hundreds of smaller species including a wide range of crabs and lobsters. There are also harbour seals, otters and Humboldt Penguins.

Amazing aquarium that’s pretty large, with lots of star attractions like it’s huge cod tank. Definitely one of the better aquariums I’ve been to

We really liked it and we got there only one hour before closing time, so we didn’t even see any of the animals being fed or participated in other activities. Many fish to see, plenty to do for the kids, interesting and interactive displays. Free parking and nice, proper sandwiches in the cafeteria.

The drive to this island is spectacular if you really like tunnels. They have to go really deep to keep under the water, an experience in itself. The road to the lighthouse is single track but there is a large parking area beside the shore for lots of cars. We just walked around, it was busy so we didn’t go inside. It is surrounded mostly by grass, houses on one side.

Fantastic place to visit. You can look around the now unused lighthouse keepers cottage and climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. Fabulous views but the steps are very steep and not suitable for everyone.

Cool light house. The stairs to the top can be a little tight. But if my 6'3" son can get through so can you. The view at the top is okay. They have local art in each level as you go up. Not a ton of room at the top.

Nice lighthouse , with great information . Just when you go up you need to be carefull. Very deep steps . If you not safe with walking up it’s better to stay down

We did a seven island tour and each one was beautiful. The scenery was breathtaking. Although it was a rainy day the lighthouse was still worth visiting.

A great place - we caught the local bus services here from Ålesund. A nice day trip. We hiked over the mountain from one side to the other and saw beautiful Alnes from above. We finished our hike at the cafe/info centre near the lighthouse, a great cider reward at the end of the day.

Very picturesque. I didn't walk up it but there are 87 steps to the top and if the views from down below are amazing I'm sure they are better at the top.

Great place for a good mountain hike! Lovely view from the cliffs on top of the island. Magical location with astonishing horizon views. There is a small coffee in town, modern building and with some descent desserts options. The lighthouse is really old and well maintained… good to visit, is like an old museum.

Visited this place 4 years ago and came back this year to view the place from the local hill, which now has a staircase to the top... Views from the lighthouse are OK but see my pics of views OF the lighthouse

Very cool lighthouse and view point! Unfortunately we arrived there late on a day when the weather was not really on our side. We were not able to visit it and we only have a chance to watch it from the outside. The area is very nice and also the small village leading to the Lighthouse was worth the trip there. If you are visiting Alesund this is definitely a good alternative if you have a car and some time to spare!

A fabulous museum and modern art gallery combined. The wallpaper alone is amazing and the stories behind the exhibits are interesting - finding a link to Japan in an Art Nouveau apartment in Ålesund was not something I had expected.

Enjoyed the stories about the history of Alesund and the art deco across Europe. The Norwegian enamel are worth seeing. The kube was disappointing I found.

Lovely Art Nouveau museum which was a nice distraction on a particularly wet day.

I had to enter twice because I could not believe it was a museum. My guide book said it looked like an old style pharmacy. It really does. You enter via a tiny gate in the counter. The building itself forms part of the museum itself showcasing its Art Nouveau style. Beautifully restored, each room showcases furniture, glassware, and other items. I thought the mulitmedia presentation dragged a little, which is why I rate this four. Well worth a visit.

Interesting exhibition on art nouveau and the traffic fire of Ålesund. Also a great at exhibition in Kube including decorated skate boards.

Great to learn more about Jugendstil and see original rooms and furnishings. They have a good collection, although you only need a short visit

It was just ok, the boats were first class in there shed, loads of wood buildings on site, you just can't get a sense of how they lived walking around the outside of a lump of wood, most houses been set up inside but all locked up, I think all doors should be open at least, so you can see how they are made. The wood buildings have been donated, not old enough to be Viking either, the few boats I did like and are very old and worth a look.

Went here as part of trip from our Norwegian fjords cruise. It was a wet sleety day and very cold. There were very few other visitors there that day. It was nice to look around and get a rough idea of how things used to be. Good information on the signs around the site. I found the boat museum very interesting. Our tour guide was not the best (nothing to do with the museum). I would like to visit again in the summer when there’s more happening. And it would be lots better.

Unique and very interesting museum about Vikings and lifestyle and old construction in the North. Outdoor part, located in beautiful scenery, is good idea for a walk with a drop of history. Good for kids and adults.

Well worth a visit, the open museum gives a unique look into the history of Norway, ranging from Viking nautical history to domestic life during the past 1000 years.

Head to the Museum Center uo the stairs once you're on the grounds. You can purchase a single ticket for around 110nk. There's a well lit seating area for eating. Some sandwiches (cold and hot) to purchase, drinks (cold $ hot) too. Some quality souvenirs available for purchase in the same area. The ticket is a sticker that you put on your shirt. The outside displays contains dozens of authentic structures from several time periods. There is some strenuous walking, but hey, it's Norway you're going to get uphill treks just about everywhere. You can go into several of the outdoor buildings, they're easy to identify as the doors are open. They're two indoor museums: One dedicated to local history and the ship museum. We only went into the ship, which had some very cool displays. Also, there is a Viking replica docked behind the Ship museum and you're allowed on board if you like. Overall a nice walking experience with history that I'd recommend if you have the time. Horses graze in a pasture between the church And the exhibits. The nearby churches grounds are also accessible.

Liked it a lot, nice overview of norwegian lifestyle from viking times, recent past up to contemporary times, including village life and craftmanship. Contained replicas of two viking ships and old houses. Time well spent, not crowded.

Great historical open-air museum which was one of the stops on a cruise port adventure that we booked. The weather was thankfully great for this visit! I wish there was a recommended path for a self guided tour. My children really enjoyed the boats exhibit the most!

If you want to learn about Norway and Alesun^s history, this is a good place to visit. The entrance fee is 110 KOR per person. Parking is located just as you enter the property.

A must see! Very interesting ships and buildings from long ago. Hopefully Norway can continue to support this museum for a long time to come. The English descriptions were very helpful.

An excellent way to spend a couple of hours. Under cover you can read interesting info about the old sailing vessels on display and then it's a short walk uphill to a modern cafe, gift shop and further museum. Climb the long winding path uphill to see a variety of old, wooden, grass-roofed cabins and an old school run. Even interesting when you're walking in the rain and the water is soaking you through!

We enjoyed our visit to the Sunnmore Museum. They have both inside displaces and outdoor historical buildings. The outdoor area is pretty hilly, so it might not be a good fit for those with mobility challenges, but the indoor displays would be easily accessible.

Girl at the information desk was very kind and informative at giving at directions to go around town and see the highlights. However, she said the art nouveau museum opened at 10am, but it actually opens at 11am so I walked towards here for nothing... Please be more accurate with these details as it might changed tourists limited time in the city

Beautiful place must do the 419 steps at Fjellstua for views that are spectacular, the only down side is its very wet. Xx

Well if this is the tourist information @ alesund i wld give them full marks.. sorry coz the picture seems to show a different place.. the ppl there were so helpful and friendly and they helped us to book our tickets to geiranger. Basically u can ask them everything and they will gv u the right answers.. heehee

Alesund is a city that bathes the sea. Its views, its peaceful streets are ideal for walking. Climbing high and admiring the incomparable views is priceless. Recommended.
