La Jolla Cove. The seals and sea lions are just on the other side. The seals will swim with you too if you decide to go snorkeling. There’s a lot of family friendly hotels in that area that is walking distance to The Cove that will work just fine. For a bigger beach, check out La Jolla Shores Beach just 2.5 miles up the road.

Lake Tahoe in August is beautiful! It's an alpine lake so, the water is usually freezing. August is the only time of year when you can swim in the lake. And everything around is green and lush. Perfect place for hiking and camping. I went to college in Reno and loved hanging around Lake Tahoe at the end of summer.
