Much more interesting than we were expecting and the price is reasonable. Some of the exhibits are a bit dense and there arent many English options when walking around the history areas. The gigantic models are top-notch though and incredibly fun to look at!

This is an interesting little museum promoting the minesweeping and submarine arms of the JMSDF. Admission is free, and we walked straight in without a wait. Displays are informative, though mostly in Japanese. That said, I think it conveys the challenges of sweeping for mines quite well. High-light is of course the submarine. It stands out the moment you reach the museum quarter. Some parts of it are displayed inside the museum, but it isn't until you get into the submarine itself you come to appreciate how claustrophobic it is.

It’s surrounded by many ships so you will have a lot to explore and admire. Exhibits are well-maintained and this is definitely a good place to bring your children also. Located just around 500 meters from JR Kure Station and there’s also You Me shopping mall across the museum. You can easily spend half day on this place.
