It's a beautiful aquarium that is good to spend a day learning about the sea life that is around the Okinawa region. It is also a good place to hide and when the outside is very hot. I would highly recommend doing the visit during the weekdays otherwise at the weekend it will be so busy you will not be able to enjoy the place. Halfway through, you'll be able to see a huge tank with almost all the fish that has to offer the attraction there for sure. It is the whale shark and the mantle rays who love to play.

First time visiting in over 10 years. There has been a lot of expansion to the park. New areas to include Free pictures taking. The gift shop has moved to the area where the static displays are. A lot of new species like the Manatee have been added. I feel the tanks are too small for the Manatee, they definitely need more space to swim around. The seat turtles are too bunched together. This is a nice place to visit every once in a while. Great for small kids, adults will get bored quickly, if you have visited before. The parking will give you a headache depending on which day and time you go. Keep in mind, this is a tourist spot, it will be crowded on the weekends.

One of the best ocean parks that I have visited. Besides the regular sharks, whales, stingray, there is another venue for turtles and manatees. There is also a rare outdoor whale show. It has a huge park you can stroll leisurely.

Love coming to this aquarium! There is so much to do between the aquarium and outside exhibits. The dolphin show is always great and is included with the visit. During cherry blossom season they have a few trees in their garden area. The kids love the jungle gym and playgrounds as well. If you’re feeling up to and have the time I highly recommend checking out the planetarium and museum as well. If you’re local then I recommend getting the membership because after about 2-3 visits it pays for itself.

Our visit to the Aquarium was awesome. From the up-close exhibits to the new and unique creatures... we enjoyed every minute of it. My favorite part was seeing the whale shark swimming around although the outside exhibits were just as awesome. Will definitely be going back soon!

Easily the best aquarium in all of Japan. At one point this was the largest aquarium in the world and it was the first to ever exhibit whale sharks and manta rays in a single tank. If you stop by the nearby convenient stores you can save up to ¥200 yen off the adult price of admission. It took us about 3 hours to go through all of the inside portions and we stopped by the sea turtle and manatee pools. It's a really peaceful and beautiful experience so make sure you have plenty of time you can spare if you visit. I highly recommend visiting this aquarium.

My favorite place in Okinawa. This os the best aquarium I’ve been to and there has been so much added. The whale sharks were amazing to watch. There was a small snack shop near the main area where you can view the whale sharks. The main fish tank also has eagle rays, nurse sharks and manta rays as well. These all were amazing to watch. You can have a table right near the glass but had an extra charge of ¥500 ($3) but it was definitely worth it as it makes it better to take videos and pictures. Towards the end of the walk around the tank is a underwater walkway where you can see the fishes swim.

A fun place to stop by when you are in Okinawa. Huge aquarium with lots of sea creatures. They also have descriptions and/or videos regarding them which are good to know for both adults and children. It’s a big place so you would do a lot of walking. Vending machines and food stands are available. Tickets are available online and at the counter.

Great experience. There is so much information to take in, but all of it is presented in a fun way. One of the main rooms has a massive tank in there with a whale shark. It was like entering a whole different world. Offers a great view outside and even has a mini beach to take those Instagram photos. I would recommend it for parents, children, couples, and people travelling alone too.

The most amazing aquarium with multi-lingual exhibits. The main tank with “Jinta”, the beloved whale shark, is something to behold, I could sit and watch for hours. In fact, they have a cafe inside where you can pay ¥500 extra for a table against the glass, and for 45 minutes you can watch the tank up close while you eat your lunch! Strangely enough, most of the lunch options had fish in them… so I opted for the one non-fish dish. Not great food, but that’s not the point of the aquarium 😊 I wish I could go back more often!

Amazing place with a lot to see. Very large tanks with plenty of space to view despite it being so busy. A great variety of fish without the tanks being overcrowded so the fish are thriving. Very friendly staff who are happy to help and answer questions even if you are using a translator app like I was. Also a lot of information on the aquariums work like a display at the start listing species discovered either for the first time in Japanese waters or in the world. They also do feeding events and I was lucky enough to be there just as the whale shark tank feeding began. They have a lovely viewing gallery for that tank which I highly recommend checking out. Seeing the manta rays and whale shark glide by is breathtaking. They also have a lot of preserved fish samples like a giant squid and mega mouth shark. They also have their ROV (remote operated vehicle) though it is behind closed doors as naturally it's a very expensive item but you can view it through the glass. A lovely cafe with delicious ice cream which you certainly need in the Okinawa heat lol

Nice place, very clean aquariums, the animals look happy. The whole area is huge and there are many other attractions than just the aquarium, definitely worth visiting also the rest of the park although the shuttle busses are not free and it is far to walk between the attractions. In the end we went to the planetarium which was a nice surprise. The park needs a little better management but overall it's a good visit...

I love this aquarium. One of my favorites in Japan, for sure. The architecture is impressive. Very massive, looks like a modern ruin, in a good way! There’s a huge park outside, with tropical gardens, good to take a walk and appreciate the view, and has accessibility, lot of resting places. You can go to the beach directly. I don’t recommend go in a rainy day, if you want to enjoy the whole place.

Very fun! The fishes were so cool and wonderful! I thought that the aquarium was well maintained and it was a great experience. I went there for a birthday and they loved it. There is also a nice restaurant inside the aquarium where you can order food or grab a drink.

I did not realize that the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is only a part of the Ocean Expo Park. That place is massive, we thought half a day would be enough but if you really want to explore the park plan for a day. The aquarium itself was nice, my kids enjoyed the undersea world specially the massive tank w/ the whale shark. We went on a Sunday so there were a lot of people, specially group tours. We bought the ticket right there, they have several automated ticket counters so it was quick. Outside they have the manatee, turtle and the dolphin lagoon where they have scheduled shows. Both the manatee & turtle pool have feeding times. After the aquarium we went to the Native Okinawa village and I totally enjoyed the different kind of houses. Thank goodness we checked out the Rest Place where the the staff was welcoming. While my daughter went to the restroom we got to watch a nice movie explaining some of the Okinawan culture and reasons why the houses were built as they were. I would like to come back to explore the beach, planetarium and the botanical garden. It was a great getaway.

A phenomenal experience from beginning to end!!! The most gorgeous, largest, cleanest places. We spent the entire day looking at everything and we still missed some of it. The membership fee is completely affordable. The aquariums were massive with such beautiful sea life. It was packed but due to its size it didn't feel too overwhelming. You will want to take your family again and again.

This was an excellent experience for me It totally rocked that this location. A lot of the stuff that I enjoyed was free but when I went inside it even elevated wasn't too expensive and everything was a new experience and it was very educational. This huge aquarium is amazing. The whale shark in the big water tank has been stunning me and worth for all visitors to come to this aquarium. The various sea creatures and museums are available. Many students have come for field trips. It is good for parents and kids to spend all day together A lot of parking areas are available.

It’s definitely worth a visit even it’s far north. One of the best, largest, most species aquariums I’ve ever been. Also the scenic outside it’s very pretty at sunset. Would recommend at least a half day there!

Pretty crowded but for good reason, this place is awesome! It was fun to see all the different sea life and the highlights on local biodiversity. The whale shark was obviously a hit, but all the rays in the tank were also mesmerizing to watch. Definitely worth the trip!

It's absolutely stunning. There are English translations for pretty much everything, and most communication was easy.There is so much to see and so much information. There is a cafe at the Whale Shark exhibit, but you have to put your name down for a reservation. The wait was too long ( we had a large group though) so we ate at a food stand outside. There is a dolphin show outside the main complex.

One of the best aquariums I’ve been to. Such a wide range of animals and lots of information about them. The highlight has to be the massive whale shark tank, also featuring some impressive mantas, and you could easily spend a while just watching. Being located in the Ocean Expo Park makes it even better as there were beautiful blue skies and pretty beaches, as well as some other attractions to visit.

Amazing, spectacular experience. The whole aquarium was so interesting with both live and preserved specimen of aquatic life, even deep sea specimens. So much heart and thought went into the design of the aquarium. Parking lots are plentiful in the multi-storey carpark and free. The entrance fee is not expensive and totally worth it. There is an eatery next to the main tank where you can enjoy a beverage or some food as you watch the aquatic life swimming around. Go and sit down earlier for the dolphin shows as the crowd will obscure your view if you arrive too close to the show time. Overall a lovely experience. Would definitely come back again. The whale shark was the main grand attraction but I really enjoyed the manta rays and other beautiful sea critters.

The previous review was right, the aquarium was flooded with people, both locals and tourists, even we went on weekdays. But the area was big, it accommodated a lot of people, we waited a bit to get close to each of the tanks. The aquarium with whale shark and giant mantas kept us amazed, it was simply beautiful. Two mantas were swim-dancing. A great variety of marine creatures in this aquarium, recommended!

If you are in Okinawa and haven't been to this place or if it's not on your itinerary, something is wrong 😂 In seriousness, giving it a 4 stars because when I was there there were more humans than fishes, it was crowded but manageable as this aquarium occupies a huge area. The indoor area is ticketed, but things like the dolphin show, turtles and dugongs can be visited for free. It also has a huge park and play area so you can easily spend a day at the aquarium. My favourites are definitely the various preserved sharks, like the baby great white with a huge stomach, globin shark, great white and big mouth shark!

Visiting this aquarium was a great experience for our family. The displays were captivating, showcasing a diverse array of sea creatures in their natural habitats. Our kids were especially thrilled to see the majestic whale shark up close, there are various spots to get different views. The entire visit was educational and entertaining, making it a must-visit destination for families looking to explore the wonders of the ocean. Tip: At the end of the aquarium, just before you get to the souvenir shop there is a spot where you can get your picture taken and they print it for free with a calendar. You also have an option to buy a regular size print and a digitall copy. Of course, we always end up buying it because they're just too cute.

Quite nice and educational aquarium. Highlight is the whale shark tank with a restaurant next to it were you have to sign up for a waiting list to get a table. We waited around 30min for a window seat which was totally worth it. You have to pay 500 yen extra for the window table The food in the restaurant is not great though.

Kinda still can't believe it's free. The whole show is amazing and it's a must see if you come to the aquarium. It's every two hours so if you miss one there is a next chance.

A free dolphin show!? Yes! It does get busy so arrive a little early if you want a seat. The kids loved it, they ran down to the front for splash time, got wet and had fun. I’ve never seen a false killer whale before so that was cool. Also, the snack bar by the entrance to the theatre is quite a bit cheaper and more efficiently run than the food trucks right outside the aquarium exit. The lines were so slow at the trucks we thankfully gave up, went to the theatre show and by chance found it. Soda/coffee floats ¥400 compared to ¥600-700 at the trucks, ice sherbet ¥350, chicken nuggets, fries and drink set ¥650.

Dolphin show theater inside the aquarium park. Because it's outside the aquarium building, you can go to the dolphin theater for free. Every day there are about 5 20-minutes show. Because there aren't many seats to enojoy they show, I recommend getting there about 30 minutes before the show in order to get the best seat.

Really amazing dolphins show, free to visit and feeding will be paid. But since the show is amazing, why not feed a few of the dolphins?

Absolutely incredible show, and free to the public. Definitely stop by if you are there. It's crazy how smart the animals are, and how high they can jump.

Great show! I was surprised it was free. I had never seen a False Killer Whale perform at a show. They were a great contrast to the Bottlenose dolphins.

What an great experience! Ive went just with my friends thinking that this is only family place but not at all. My friends and i both had fun and to sum it all up we had an amazing drink with ice cream from b1 floor underground enjoying this views.

Amazing and entertaining show!! My wife and I loved the dolphins' performance so much that we had to watch it twice on the same day. What's more, it is also free! But be sure to arrive at least half an hour earlier to get a good seat and view (especially during peak or holiday seasons)

I like the cafe! Lucky us we dont need to fall in line or wait longer. We pay 500¥ for a 40mins window seat! You can order drinks or chips if youre not that hungry.

Gorgeous! Definitely go after 4pm though. It's cheaper, less tourists and your photos will probably be better. Dolphin show is free so look at that too. We just ate at the buffet because we were hungry but it wasn't bad. Definitely search for places in town with high ratings if you aren't as hungry as we were

Amazing little beach with a great view

The beach is more like a swimming pool with a nice view, it by all means is instagrammable, but does not spell natural beauty. There's a lot of babysitting too: signs 'do not swim here', 'do not go past this point'. Snorkelling is not allowed, the restriction nets cut off the ocean at a fairly shallow depth. One section of the beach is closed. The beach might be okay if you come with kids and want to be totally safe, but it's very constrained and supervised, so if you're looking for Avatar-like nature and underwater landscapes, this is not where you can find it.

Great place to go. Safe with lots of lifeguards. Lots of benches to sit on in the shade. And a beautiful beach to swim in.

Paradise Found. Clear blue waters, Large swimming area. Perfect for pictures or an all day beach day. You can rent an umbrella for 1000¥, and a chair for 1000¥ or both plus an extra chair for 2500¥ for all day. that is too high, but its nice to be close to the water. The snack shop area has free showers and coin lockers. it's 100% worth the drive north from Naha. We went in August 2022, water was so warm the breeze was perfect. Even at low tide the water can still be deep.

Don't follow Google Maps route there, you should go thru the Churaumi Aquarium (you don't need to enter the Aquarium to access the beach, but you cross just around it, as if you're gonna enter the Aquarium). There is a beach house with showers (free) and lockers (¥100), you can rent beach umbrellas and stuff if you want. The beach is calm and relaxing, I was glad it was not crowded now, cause it seems kinda small if it gets crowded. The landscape is amazing, great spot to take beautiful photos.

It's a beautiful beach, with a very good structure (toilets, showers, cafe, fixed umbrellas and seats in the beach and a shopping). It's 700 meters walking from the Ocean Park (Aquarium) so you can leave your car in the aquarium or also to drive and there to park at the beach's parking lot

It was okay. Mostly a tourist beach with people from mainland Japan. Free to get in, but parking is 1000yen. If you didn't get bring an umbrella or chairs, you can rent both for 3500yen and secure yourself a spot on the beach.

Beautiful beach for the sunset! When you go to the far left end of the beach, there is a small cave to explore. But reading other comments about lifeguards and swimming area, i wouldnt go there in the summerseason or daytime.

A great spot to snorkel and see a great variety of fish. It is very shallow in the swimming section that is monitored by the lifeguards. Paid parking on site (500 yen for 1 hour or 1000 yen for the day). You can also rent snorkel gear and beach chairs. Water shoes recommended as the coral sea bed can be rough on your feet

If you look for quiet virgin beach this one is for you. Amazing white sand, look very wild and I love it! 😍 There is not a lot of restaurants and convenience stores around so be prepared to it if you want to stay for the sunset. 🌅

Beautiful beach, lots of colorful fishes to see in the guarded area, food and drinks available. You might even see a fighting bull come play in the sand at sunset… 😮

As you approach the turn after crossing the bridge theres a small local ice cream shop that goes great with beach days, go there too. The beach is amazing, great views very picturesque.

It was great and really fun having place but kinda expensive as we had to buy a lot of stuffs around to get into the beach. Visiting beach is free but the gears we need, showers, even washing legs and all costs here. There was a restaurant which was only take out. However, there is a big hotel called Hilton. Seems really expensive and sophisticated one. If you want to stay around, it's a lovely place but expensive too. So plan wisely.

One of the most beautiful beach in Okinawa and best of all it's not even crowded. Easy to drive straight to the entrance of the beach and park free. The water are crystal clear and there are caves like stonewall which u can rest out of the sun, better than any umbrella on a beach. Did see quite abit of development around the beach, guess this year might be the last u can enjoy the quiet beach. So do visit soon.
