This spot was absolutely amazing! A hidden paradise waiting to be found. Lucky for me, I have my own kayaks but you can rent some nearby. I launched mine from Pete's Marina. (Must pay to park) I highly suggest kayaking to this spot. Once there, you can swim or snorkel in the springs like I did. So amazing. Water was cool but not freezing. It was crystal clear. Fish swimming around of all sizes. I was even able to swim down to the bottom of the spring and watch some of the water come out of the ground. Such an amazing experience and beautiful. I felt so rejuvenated after my swim in there.

This is such a beautiful place to kayak and snorkel. You can't get on the rocks or the land but you can jump out of your kayak and snorkel around. We then used a rock that was out in the water to hoist ourselves back into our kayaks. We also kayaked around out in the river and saw manatees out there. Definitely would like to come back and swim in this area again in the future after they open back up.

Excellent, excellent, excellent! In January and February, this is the place to see manatees! In most places, you are so far from the manatees that all you see is bumps. Here, they can be just a few feet away (if you are lucky). The boardwalk goes all the way around the hot springs and part of the inner coastal where they hang out.

Park seemed pricey to get in especially after we just finished swimming with the manatees! But, it was definitely worth it to see a different side. Great place to capture beautiful pictures and get to see the manatees up top! Hint hint...if u don't like to walk...go left not right from the ticket booth...this will get you to the boardwalk quicker! Manatees blend in with the rocks so pay attention. There is no parking here and need to park at the shopping center. This is not where u catch the trolley either...so make sure u are at the right location for what u want to do!

Kayaked in (October) to see the springs and look for wildlife. Manatee Lou was surrounded by snorkelers. Amazing to see a manatee up close, but it seemed like they just wanted to get away from all the people. Also spotted fish, birds, and a ray. Glad we chose to visit the springs via kayak as it wouldn't have been as memorable via the boardwalk, plus it was free to access via water compared to the $12.50 per person fee the refugee concessioner charges.

This is a very interesting place. Upside...great volunteers that care deeply for these majestic mammals. They are friendly, approachable and full of helpful information about the area, animals and conservation. Being able to view these precious animals in their natural habits was very memorable. Downside....lots of snorkelers and kayakers took away from the full peacefulness of the moment.....but did offer a bit of entertainment of thier own.

Temporarily closed on our visit. However, we swam in the springs. Beautiful. Water temp was 77 degrees. Lots of fish and manatee. Crystal clear

You can see manatees here in winter. The manatees at Three Sisters Springs offer a captivating experience, showcasing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. We have mixed feelings about this. We loved the manatees, the springs the clear water. The boardwalk around it is nice and clean, I believe the refuge area are trying to do a good thing. We would love to be able to interact with the manatees but we don't. It's for their own good. We understand. I'm guessing the park people are volunteers. A little unorganized it the entrance. Maybe having a bad day,but no problems. Beautiful area. The BAD. the commercialization is very sad, there were over 100 swimmers in the springs with these manatees. Commercial pontoon boats lined up in the canal dropping off and picking up swimmers. It's disappointing. Such a beautiful natural area being corrupted like this is sad. I'm glad the refuge is mostly protected, but I wish they would make it off limits to swimmers and companies doing this.

We boated here from Pete’s Pier which was challenging in the wind. We saw a few manatee on our way over and loved the springs! There’s a lot of monitoring of the space and it was pretty crowded. Today there was only one manatee there so we must’ve just missed the season (today is April 4th and the season typically ends around 3.31). Either way: clean, gorgeous and magical!

Overall the park itself and the environment is pretty delightful, with access to hiking trails, views of the spring etc. Volunteers were present to guide which was great. We saw on manatee which was great too. The downside was—you had to park 1mile farther in the city hall and use their shuttle service/or walk to reach the springs. Also the entry fee was on the higher side (20$ per adult). And, there was no access to waters/swimmimg for that price while if you could pay extra for boating, kayaking and swimming through boating companies nearby, wierd for a state owned park? Overall, I would rather go to another spring where we can swim.

This is a beautiful refuge and worth the cost to visit. If you have a National Park Pass, you will get a discount. We paid a total of $25.00 for the 2 of us. We went to the City Hall in Crystal Springs and behind the building is where you buy your tickets and can take a shuttle or bus to the refuge. We visited in February and you cannot swim in the Three Sisters Springs. However, you can see MANY manatees in the springs, which is crystal clear and a beautiful blue color. There is a boardwalk around the springs with viewpoints. There are also short hiking trails. We saw many manatees in the canals around the springs as well. The water is not as blue and clear in the canals, however.

Beautiful crystal clear springs. If you want to see manatees you have to go when the temperature in the Gulf is below 68°, they go in the springs looking for warmer waters. It was too hot this day si I didn't see any manatees. There guides along the boardwalk that share their knowledge with you. Very interesting

This park is definitely a must to go to in the winter when the manatees huddle to keep warm. Go in the morning, so you see lots of them. It really isn’t a huge park so it’s not an all day adventure. The boardwalk is the main attraction to see the manatees. They do have several other trails to walk. Take your National park pass if you have it to get a discount.

Worth the $20. I wanted to see manatees and this is the perfect place to see them. Nice walking trails and friendly, informative guides as well. Picnic area and restrooms with a shuttle for those who don't want to walk. You can also pay to snorkle, kayak or do a little boat tour. I think snorkeling would be worth it but not kayaking nor boat ride. Too crowded and too small of an area. You can see manatees better from the walking trails. Look at the pictures. You cannot come into roped off areas. Manatees are mostly in the roped off areas.

If you look carefully while riding across the bridge, you might be able to spot manatees swimming through crystal clear water under the bridge. We parked the car, walked back, and were blessed to see a mother and baby gliding along. ☺️ They were on their way to join a whole community farther along, up near the shores of the Ellie Schiller State Wildlife Park. What a very special experience!!

Absolutely beautiful. Kayak in and swim in the crystal clear water. Its a little cold but you get used to it. Even swam with a manatee. Definitely recommend!

The springs are well cared for. There is a nice new bathroom and the volunteer guides were very knowledgeable. The visitors center is just outside the front gate in a strip mall, so definitely a good choice to park. We used the closest city parking a walk away but should have just parked at the center. The shuttle was useful but the walk is very nice too. There were still quite a few tourists, but not as bad as I imagine the springs near Orlando. Overall it was an underwhelming experience for Floridians. The number of manatees were more than we usually see but not by alot. The high tide advice was good, they do travel in and out more at that time. The town is adorable and clearly catering to tourists from the North. The restaurants were crowded even after lunch time. If you are driving from a short distance away it would be worth it. We drove from the other side of the State and it may not be worth that kind of drive unless you just enjoy a day trip anyway. A bit costly per person for an entrance fee, when you can’t swim and only observe.

We had scheduled a boat trip to see the manatees, but came here first. In walking around the boardwalk and seeing so many, we canceled our boat trip. This preserve is beautiful. I love that the waters are roped off completely to keep people out of the waters to leave the manatees alone. It was really exciting to see some young calfs in there too.

Took a manatee snorkel tour with one of the many tour operators in the area. Went with Fun 2 Dive on March 2- was able to swim into the three sisters springs which is normally closed off. On this day, it was open. There were two female manatees resting near the spring. Overall great experience.

Beautiful Springs and wildlife trail around the lake. The boardwalk around the Springs gives you a wonderful view of the Manatees. Winter is the time to see them gathering in the warm Springs that stay 72 degrees year round.

Three Sisters Springs is a manatee wonderland! It's truly incredible – the only place where you can witness such a gathering of these gentle giants in one spot. The volunteers are passionate and knowledgeable, ready to answer any manatee-related questions. With about six viewing points, the experience is breathtaking as you observe hundreds of manatees. We visited in December and caught the perfect time to see them. The trail offers a super easy walk, but if you prefer, there's a convenient shuttle option. While the entrance fee is $20 per person, it's a small price to pay for the privilege of supporting these magnificent creatures. The money goes towards the well-being of the manatees, making the visit not only awe-inspiring but also a meaningful contribution to their conservation. 🌊🌿🐋💙

I love to go take pictures of the sunsets, and nature on this pier. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by a storm last year and now is closed to the public. I know it might not be an urgent project but we miss it.

This is a great spot to enjoy the beautiful Crystal Bay. The beach was super clean. There was a bathroom facility on site that was clean as well. Tons of parking space and a beautiful dock over the ocean. There is a boat launch ramp there as well. Great place for a fun beach day!

Such a nice beach park on the road area here. Pear was gorgeous and enjoyed the nice walkway into forest. The beach it self was fun to snorkel and play I.man although water very murky and nasty sea weed everywhere. Facilities clean. It was fun

Great beach, awesome fishing, the drive down 9 is so cool. There was a drum circle at sunset when I was there. One of Floridas most beautiful spots for sunset. Clean bathrooms, beach shower, picnic area.

If you are looking for a quiet beach surrounded by nature, then this is worth the drive off of the beaten path. There are many covered picnic tables, outside showers, and a state-park style restroom facility.

What a hidden gem. This location is hands down a must go with a trail, pavilions, a fishing pier, and a boat launch. This is an all around spot to check out. There restrooms on site and plenty of trash cans. I was able to see some of the famous dolphin encounters while on the pier. Locals say they come around occasionally. There's a spring nearby as well as marina where you can rent boats and buy bait if need be. Check it out for sure!!!!

Super awesome! I got there in time to park in a shaded spot by the pier. Enjoyed the beautiful raised wooden trail and pier. Since dogs aren't allowed on the beach, we walked down to the boat ramp area and walked along the beach there. Although later I did see additional signs that indicated dogs weren't allowed and steep fines charged, yikes 😳! Dogs were happy!

Great views of the sunset! There are a few picnic pavilions and picnic tables. Nice fishing 🎣 pier. We even found a hermit crab friend 🐚🦀☺️! Awesome icy out of a pineapple 🍍 at the local food truck by the beach. Nice white sand. Overall we had a great family day!

Beautiful, relatively quiet (depends on respectful visitors), beach. Beautiful white sands. Clean. Some covered concrete based spots to set up your beach chairs. Enjoy watching the birds, fishing boats, and the Gulf. Concrete block building housing bathrooms. Water fountains along outside wall. Beware we saw an adult lifting his dog up to drink from the human water fountain! Yuk. Total disrespect. Animals not allowed by the way!!

Decided to take the first trip to a small beach in Florida and was pleasantly surprised on how clean it was. It was very well maintained and there was even a fishing pier that was further back and had a walkway that was easy to traverse with a decent amount of parking. There is even a boat launch dock further down the road that was a pay to use. Prices seemed fair, I'm not sure how they compare to others yet. Along the way here there were some bird trails that you can stop at as well. It was a nice drive and will be going back in the future.

Becoming one of my favorite Hangout spots. Really love the vibe during the week love visiting all the different boat ramps watching people launch their boats. Love the hidden walkways and pathways the doc is really cool. Just overall Cool vibe the bathroom is pretty clean. The sunrise and sunsets are absolutely the best no better place to view the Atlantic.

Beautiful place. We watched one of the most perfect sunsets ever. We walked the boardwalk through the woods and observed two owls. I would recommend visiting this place. Hidden gem!

I Absolutely Love This State Park!!! Walking Around and Seeing all the Mounds... Imaging the Past Lives that Were Lived There. It's Such a Beautiful and Peaceful Place. I Can't Wait to Visit Again! I Would Definitely Add This to Your Places to See... You Won't Regret It!

This was a great way to learn a little, while stretching the legs. It has about a mile of uneven,Paved paths. It's very open, and a great place to relax. Pick up after your pet and have a great time!

What we liked was the small museum. They play a video showing you all the info before you get to the green and cute park. Do not spect an big park. It is kinda small but quiet and relaxing. It is a cute experience.

Beautiful park. Nice history of the native people who lived there so long ago. The mounds are well preserved. I can see why they chose that area to build and settle. It sits right on the water. There is a little museum that sits on the property. Parking is $2.

Beautiful place. View from top of Mound A is gorgeous. Museum has artifacts, information and an informative video. Video lasts about 9 minutes. Carload with 8 or less costs $3. We don't have a dog but several people had their dog on the trails. There are picnic tables and benches spread out around the park. Restrooms are very clean. Check it out!

We stumbled upon this park while visiting the area. We had a nice leisurely afternoon strolling through the park. The park is well maintained with a helpful front office attendant. We were able to purchase an annual Florida State Park pass here.

Nice little museum at this small park. It's a fascinating story with the history of the site and the mystery of the native people that inhabited it. Park ranger was also very friendly. Easy walking paths and nice overlook view of the river.

Nice little place for a stroll and to read up on the American Indian culture that was in that area. They are currently doing some renovations, and the terrain was rough if you are not to steady on your feet. The water view was really pretty.

The site of a Native American settlement for at least 800 years from the first century AD when a small village was developed to AD 800 when people moved away and set up another village at Robert’s Island just downstream. There are five mounds of which one is a composite burial complex similar to Native American burial sites in the Ohio River Valley along with a second, smaller burial mound, A temple Mound built between AD 400 and AD600 and three midden mounds for disposal of shells and other trash. Some finds at the site suggest the site may have served as a ceremonial center for Native Americans for 1,600 years. It’s interesting that the description of the museum and the main Temple mound on the Florida State Parks web site as well as the printed hand out sheet given to visitors do not mention Native Americans, although they are noted in the Managers message.

Small place but well worth the visit! Honor system pay cash at entrance, museum with lots or great artifacts, and an outside path with lots of informative signs. Clean and beautiful with lots of shade... you can ecen bring your dog. Great picnic area too!

After visiting the small but informative museum, there is a 3/4 mile trail that takes you out to the burial mounds, midden mound and temple mound. The temple mound has approx. 30 steps but once at the top has a beautiful view of the river and marsh area. Definitely worth a quick stop. The park is dog friendly for leashed dogs. The park staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

For the small price we paid, I felt that this place deserves a lot more visitors. There are middens, or mounds, created on top of layers of oyster shells. These were used as homes for the indigenous people who lived here, on the bank of the Crystal River. The tallest one is a 50 stair climb to the top. Wheelchair accessible. Great little museum and restrooms available.

Beautiful grounds with paved walkways are worth the visit alone. Visit the museum if you are interested in Florida pre-history and the nature of the ancient mound structures within the park.

Wish I wore my walking shoes but still able to enjoy the pathways. Educational and beautiful place to relax and bird watch, hike the paths filled with history. The museum was opened and educational too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this hidden gem to learn about the history of the area. There's a baby owl in that big tree, so lucky to have spotted it.

Great historical information as well as a small museum with an ongoing video telling the story of a past culture. Artifacts to view, great walking pathes easily accessible for all to walk the grounds to view the mounds. Well, it's worth your time if you like archeological experiences. I highly recommend this place and would revisit

This park is beautiful and very well maintained. The volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. If you get a chance, attend one of thier "Moon Over the Mounds" events. You get a guided tour after dark that is amazing.

Crystal River Archaeological State Park! This is a unique park because it’s filled with history! The park is home to six Native American mounds, dating back 1600 years, making this one of the longest continuously occupied sites in Florida. The mounds here served different purposes such as ceremonies, trade, and for burial. It’s estimated that around 1500 people are buried here. The largest temple mound even has stairs so you can climb to the top and get amazing views of the park and the saltwater marsh around Crystal River. The park also has a museum with history of the area, a short film, and artifacts including a dugout canoe. The building itself was built in 1965 and is an example of mid-century modern architecture, designed to mimic the flat-topped temple mound. 🌳 Located: Crystal River, about 1 hour from Tampa or Gainesville 🌳 Hiking: ~1 mile paved trail 🌳 Unique features: Native American ceremonial and burial mounds 🌳 Other activities: fishing, paddling, picnicking, museum & historic artifacts 🌳 Tip: Monthly around the full moon, you can take a guided nighttime tour of the park! The next event is December 29th.

If there’s one thing to do in Florida, is to visit its springs, no matter the season you come here spring water stay at a good temperature year round, due to that wildlife finds a shelter and home in Florida. Crystal River is one of the most unique springs in Florida due to it’s healthy population of Manatees, the water potato. If you are in the area get in contact with any of the tours to swim with manatees, 100% recommend. Beware tho, it can get really busy during the summer months and weekends.

Overlooked little gem, lot of information about the Manatees. Interactive displays, a gift shop, a dock to view the manatees, clean restrooms, picnic tables, a quiet little park. Plenty of parking, great staff, enjoy the manatee exhibitts!

This is a GREAT place to learn about Manatees. It teaches you some history and so much more. Cute little gift shop the goes back to the refuge for the manatees. The staff members were great and very friendly! We can’t wait to come back again and share with others. Oh if you have kids ask about the Junior Ranger. It’s pretty cool!!

Great place for kayaking and to see manatees. The water is super clear hence the name Crystal River. Only about an hour and 20 minutes from Tampa.

Nice view from the back. Friendly volunteers. How to help manatees is lacking wearing polarized sunglasses if you are on the water and other missed educational opportunities. The best thing the USFWS could do to help manatees is to stop allowing people to swim with them. They should focus on that. Also, the manatee fart machine....really? I'm sure that money could have been spent on something more educational to help manatees.

I saw hundreds of manatees today at a nice facility. There were knowledgeable and friendly volunteers that were willing and able to explain an interpret the manatee and other natural phenomena. The crowds were light. The visitor center was small but well done. Volunteers here were also very friendly and helpful. There was nice restroom at the visitor center. It cost a fee to get to the viewing area for the manatees. There were extensive storms in the area yesterday and some of the trails were flooded and not passable in ordinary footwear.

Went on a cool day so there were plenty on Manatees. Amazing place.

Small but very informative. Beautiful building. They make it where you're supposed to be under the water with the manatees learning about the manatees in the springs. Fantasy with history and important information. Very peaceful and 30 minutes is all you need here.

Great experience kayaking and seeing manatees. There is NO NEED to sign up for a manatee seeing tour. Everyone could see a manatee up close at some point. You just need to stay in the three sister springs designated areas and wait.

It is a must-see and do place. For children and adults. We were pleasantly surprised how many were there. I could have watched them all day. There is a fee and a trolley/bus that will take you right to the spot, or you can walk into the reserve. There are volunteers around the area to answer questions and give you lots of history and stories about the manatees. There are restrooms available and handicap entrances on the boardwalks.

This is a GREAT value! They have senior discounts and will also discount if you have a federal lands pass (AKA National Park Pass). Included in your admission is a short bus tour to the visitor center and downtown. You can hop-on/hop-off basically all day, and a bus stops every thirty minutes or so. You may be tempted to walk from parking to the springs, and that's fine. However, make sure to hop on a bus and visit the amazing new visitor center/nature center. This was very interactive and enjoyable for kids of all ages! Make sure you hit the "manatee fart" button! From the ticket seller, to the bus drivers, or the gate attendant, to the boardwalk volunteers, or the visitor center staff, literally EVERYONE was super-friendly and enjoyed being there! We saw TONS of manatees and learned so much about them from the friendly staff!

Good primer on the preserve to visit before or after visiting Three Sisters. A new facility with lots of informational kiosks that are great for kids, a little gift shop, and information on other Florida activities. The attendants are very knowledgeable. It's definitely worth a stop if in the area.

The manatees are the main attraction here and they're only around in the winter. It's well worth the effort to visit and see them. In the setting of the springs, they're absolutely breathtaking.

Wonderful place to learn about Manatees and they have a nice little gift shop as well. You can also walk out by the dock where the rescue boat is ready and available for Manatee rescues if necessary.

Beautiful clear water! Nice sandy Beach, with picnic tables. Great for picnics. Pro/Con there's a lot of tour boats bringing snorkelers to see the manatees. Pro -there are restrooms! Con- you have to pay $5 for each craft you put in the water, and it's $5 to park. Bonus- there's security at the boat ramp so you can feel better about getting your vehicle and leaving your kayaks. There's a playground for small children, I think there's two play areas. We enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaking the bay. We went out to Christmas Island and saw an old house for sale. Come early and go to the left to see Manatee. They're here year-round.

It's a beautiful small beach, parking is $5 first come first serve. More parking by the 2nd and 3rd stop signs to the right (Free). It cost $5 per kayak or board to launch. No grills or canopy allowed. They do have stationary grills and again 1st come 1st serve. Busy on weekends and family oriented and Deputy's are detailed there for safety.

Our first time coming to kayak with manatees and this is where we launched. We had our own kayaks and the ramp was easily accessible with an area for loading and unloading at the ramp. A sandy beach was available for play and a swimming area was roped off from boating traffic. The park was great. We paddled to Three Sisters pretty easily and loved the view. The parking is pretty small, so if it is a season that is pretty busy, I'd suggest going early. We visited yesterday December 28th, 2023, and the high was 65°. For many visitors, it's much warmer than home, however, if you're warm-natured or a local, the breeze and temp can make it feel quite cold. It wasn't too bad and the water temperature was definitely warmer than outdoors. We had a wonderful experience. PRO TIP: Next time, I'll definitely bring snorkeling gear to see whatever all the fuss is about. Tons of private charters and tour companies head out to this area to snorkel. Not only is kayaking available, but so is snorkeling and swimming in the area.

A very small area on a point near the natural springs just off the Crystal River, this park offers a small sandy swimming area in pristine 72° spring water. A pay to park place with limited number of parking places, and a pay to launch paddling vessels only access ramp adjacent to the swimming area. Often observe commercial river tours in this area of the river. Beautiful natural landscaping, seagrasses and water restoration in progress nearby, and the opportunity to see manatees in their natural habitat, along with observing all the other wonderful wildlife available in watershed estuaries makes tjis park the perfect location for a quick visit. A delightful frolic in that cool water on a hot spring day is just what I needed! Enjoy the Nature Coast! It is the last nearly natural wilderness in Florida.

Beautiful and very cold spring water💙 There is a short boardwalk, a playground, restrooms, a shower, lots of canoeing and boating. The parking lot is very tiny. You may have to park a few blocks away and walk there... It's not a big deal. Highly recommend you take your canoe and family.🚣🌴🌅🛥️🥽

Great little place with tiny beach if you wanna get in 72 degree water and snorkel to see manatee. I suggest paddle board or kayak to stay warm, unless it's super hot and sunny, then it's refreshing .

Parked here to launch our kayaks and saw manatees immediately! There’s a nice little sandy beach and an area roped off for swimming. We then kayaked to Three Sisters Springs and snorkeled with manatees! Clean bathrooms and easy to pay parking!

WOW - we had an amazing time here! After a morning paddle from King's Bay, we walked here for a picnic lunch and a swim. I got curious when I saw folks swimming with snorkels... they said that it's an aquarium of fish down there, and there are manatees. I made a quick trip to town to rent snorkels and into the water we went again... and it was magical.

Felt like a secret treasure. Wasn't too busy. Cute little park with playgrounds and public restrooms. A short boardwalk with a nice view. My favorite was the swimming area with a little beach and very pretty water. A little cold at first but you get used to it. Bring your goggles to see the fish and the spring!

Nice, cute, and quaint park. For even a quick stop, you have to pay $5 for parking, but other than that we enjoyed a nice lunch here! The white ibis are very pretty and entertaining to watch.

Very good place to cool down and relax during hot season. Clear water with sandy beach area. Swimming area from shallow to deep water. Pay parking for only $5 and launching area for kayaks also for $5. Pay parking can accommodate few cars only. There are restrooms and open shower area. Picnic tables. Easy place to launch kayaks or paddle boards to enjoy the river or bay for the day. Parking is $5 per vehicle and $5 per vessel to launch. You need a credit card, no cash is accepted. We arrived at 8am on a Saturday and the park was already starting to fill up. I would recommend arriving no later than 10am if you want a spot to park. Launching your vessel is easy and we immediately saw manatees once we got on the river. There's plenty of places to explore in King's Bay and plenty of wildlife to view.

I went this past Sunday and saw 3 manatees immediately when walking into the water. Parking lot is small although there is free public parking about 1/2 mile down the road. Small park that is great to paddle board or float in a tube. Pack a cooler and some chairs and you can easily spend the entire afternoon enjoying all the nature. There are also cute hole in the wall dining and stores in the small town.

Great place to cruise, paddle, swim, hang out, and take photos. I practiced my photography with the Mrs. The vibe there is really relaxed compared to some other springs nearby that feel like more of a party. I haven't come across any locals here that were anything short of friendly and happy.

Nice little park, we talked to a park ranger that gave us a wealth of info on the local flora and fauna. We went there early enough in the day that there was nobody else in the park, but I've heard that it gets pretty busy later on.

This is a nice little beach close to my parents. It has kayaking and can see the manatees. It's very well kept. This is my new place when visiting.

For the 1st time, I went to the springs and had an amazing time. It's definitely worth going!
